WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE VEHICLE LIGHTS WENT OUT, NO HIGH BEAMS, NO DRIVING LIGHTS AT ALL, NO BLINKERS ETC. THE FLASHERS WORKED ONLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND IT CONTINUED TO RUNTURNED KEY BACK ON AND TURNED FLASHERS OFF AND SPUTTERED AND DIED, BUT THEN ONLY THE MIRROR AND TAIL LIGHT FLASHERS WORKED, NOTHING IN THE FRONT WORKED. WHEN ATTEMTED TO CHECK TO SEE IF LIGHTS WOULD COME ON OR FLASHERS THE WRENCH ICON WOULD APPEAR, ALL INSTRUMENT WARNING CAME ON TO CHECK BREAK SYSYTEM BUT STILL NO LIGHTS OR FLASHER. THIS WAS AN ETREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO THE FACT WE WERE IN A DARK RURAL AREA ON A 2 LANE HWY AND COULD NOT SEE A THING. THE VEHICLE INTERMITITNGLY WILL NOT START AND WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. ALSO BACK UP SENSOR WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY AT TIMES, THE SOONEST WE CAN GET VEHICLE YO YHE SHOP IS NEXT TUESDAY.
SOME TIMES THE FIRST GEAR LIGHT WILL COME ON DURING DRIVING NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHY
I have a 2008 ford f250 with 60,000 miles I bought it used about 7 years ago I only drive it to pull my trailer camping also I don't drive it much hoping a engine light will come on my vehicle has unintended acceleration it happen when I come to a stop light and my vehicle will unexpectedly tug forward to 0 to 60 mpg I have to push on my brakes and turn off the key and turn back on sometimes 6 times before it goes back to normal I called the dealer to get answer where I live in California and they said they cant diagnose it unless it duplicates its self and they will charge me $200 plus if they cant find the problem I did research and found 4 vehicles the same year that had this problem and there is a recall on some of these vehicle with the same problem with the same motor and year same electronic gas pedal but they are the expedition and other makes anyways this problem has almost cause me to get in plenty accidents I had the gas pedal and electronic sensor replace throttle body and both sensors replace and still have the problem the ford dealer are saying they never heard of this issue but I google unintended acceleration and see cars of all makes and model with this drive by wire electronic situation all I want is to get it fixed doing my research its a software issue in the computer
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED, THEN IT JUST DIED. IT CRANKED BUT WOULDN'T START. THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO TSB 07-26-2 (WIRING HARNESS DEFECT ON HPFP) ISSUED AUGUST 2007.IN JANUARY 2015, WHILE ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEED, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I LOST ACCELERATION AND THE ENGINE DIED. BRAKING AND STEERING WERE ALSO DIMINISHED.GOT LUCKY AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSIS REVEALED A SHORT IN THE WIRING OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP GASKET WIRING HARNESS (THE SUBJECT OF TSB 07-26-2 WHEREIN FORD RECOGNIZED IN AUGUST OF 2007 A PROBLEM WITH UNPROTECTED WIRING WITHIN THE HPFP WIRING HARNESS). REPAIRS WERE EXTREMELY COSTLY (OVER $3,000.00)MORE IMPORTANTLY THIS INSTANTANEOUS FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, INJURY OR DEATH; IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.I URGE NTSB TO INVESTIGATE UNPLANNED SHUT DOWNS OF THIS VEHICLE'S POWER PLANT. UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES THIS LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, COLLISION, INJURY AND POSSIBLY DEATH. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE AUGUST OF 2007 YET HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.REPLACE THE HPFP GASKET AND WIRING HARNESS. WE PURCHASED THIS 2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY NEW AT THE FORD STORE IN SAN LEANDRO, CA ON JULY 21, 2007 AND CONTINUE TO BE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A 6.4 TURBO-DIESEL ENGINE. THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO TSB 07-26-2 (WIRING HARNESS DEFECT ON HPFP) ISSUED AUGUST 2007. ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 27, 2015, WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO A FREEWAY AND AT AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 50 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND THE ENGINE DIED. BRAKING AND STEERING WERE ALSO DIMINISHED. I GOT LUCKY AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP (BUD ADAMS - CASTRO VALLEY, CA; BAR#:228593 CAL#:66801). DIAGNOSIS REVEALED A SHORT IN THE WIRING OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP GASKET WIRING HARNESS (THE SUBJECT OF TSB 07-26-2 WHEREIN FORD RECOGNIZED ON OR ABOUT AUGUST OF 2007 A PROBLEM WITH UNPROTECTED WIRING WITHIN THE HPFP WIRING HARNESS). REPAIRS WERE EXTREMELY COSTLY ($3,791.89 REDUCED TO $2,591.89) BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THIS INSTANTANEOUS FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, INJURY OR DEATH; IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. I GOT LUCKY. I SEE OTHER COMPLAINANTS WHO HAD HOURS STUCK IN THE DESERT, SOMEONE WITH A LOAD OF CATTLE STUCK WITHOUT WARNING, THE LIST GOES ON. IN EACH REPORTED INSTANCE THE OPERATOR DESCRIBED AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER PLANT WITH NO WARNING. I URGE THE NTSB TO INVESTIGATE THESE UNPLANNED SHUT DOWNS OF THIS VEHICLE'S POWER PLANT. UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES THIS MAY LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, COLLISION, INJURY AND POSSIBLY DEATH. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE AUGUST OF 2007 YET HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THE WIRES SUPPLYING POWER TO THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP FRAYED. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE WIRES NOT BEING PROPERLY PROTECTED BY FORD (ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP). ONCE THE SHORT IN THE WIRE OCCURRED, MY TRUCK IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS GOING 65 MPH AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SINCE MY TRUCK WAS SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING OUR 2008 F-250 2WD AN AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO TURN, LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAD OCCURRED A FEW TIMES BEFORE BUT I COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND ALTHOUGH A NEAR SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURRED, NO PROBLEM COULD BE FOUND. I WAS PLANNING TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL DEALER OVER THE WEEKEND. THE NEXT DAY I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND THE TRUCK ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT START. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP COVER GASKET WHICH INCLUDES A WIRING HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED DUE TO WIRE ABRASION AND A SHORTED WIRE. IN ADDITION, THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN RE-ENGINEERED TO INCLUDE A GUARD TO PROTECT THE WIRE FROM ABRASION. FROM INTERNET RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR INSTANCES, WITH SOME VEHICLES LOSING POWER WHILE IN MOTION. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF TRUCK AND THEY HAVE MADE SEVERAL SIMILAR REPAIRS. AS A SAFETY PROFESSIONAL FOR OVER 30 YEARS, THIS IS VERY UNNERVING TO SAY THE LEAST. HIGHWAY CRASHES OCCUR FAR TOO OFTEN DUE TO HUMAN ERROR WITHOUT HAVING KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECTS ADDING TO THE PROBLEM. WHEN A TRUSTED MANUFACTURER DISCOVERS AN ENGINEERING ISSUE BUT FAILS TO INFORM OWNERS OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THIS ADDS UNNECESSARY DANGER FOR UNSUSPECTING MOTORISTS,OUR FAMILIES AND THE PUBLIC. HOW CAN FORD SELL THEIR CUSTOMERS A TRUCK AS WHAT ONE OTHER PERSON STATES: A $55,000.00 TRUCK THAT IS ADVERTISED TO BE SUPER DUTY AND SHOULD LAST 400000 TO 500000 MILES WITH ONLY MINER ENGINE REPAIRS, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. FORD KNOWS FOR A FACT THAT THEY HAVE A FAULTY MOTOR AND FAULTY INTERNAL PARTS ON ALL THE 2008 THRU 2010 6.4 L DIESEL MOTORS. WHEN STARTING MY 2008 FORD F-250 I BEGAN HAVING TO TRY IT MORE THAN ONCE, WHICH WAS VERY UNUSUAL FOR MY TRUCK. THEN THE NEXT DAY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER, THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND INFORMED ME THAT THE ERROR CODE INDICATED THAT EITHER I OR SOMEONE ELSE HAS ATTEMPTED TO MODIFY THE PCM (PROCESSOR) UNSUCCESSFULLY AND THAT RESULTED IN THE PCM BEING RUINED. I ASSURED THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT IN NO WAY HAVE I OR ANYONE ELSE DONE THAT. HE BASICALLY CALLED ME A LIAR AND SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $1000 TO REPAIR. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW FOR 5 DAYS AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE REPAIR TECH WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY REPROGRAMMING THE NEW PCM AND HAD TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. *TR

2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN FALL 2007- WITH ZERO MILES. APPX. 3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE, TRUCKS CAB RUBBED THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS INTO..CAUSING THE TRUCK TO HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND DAMAGES. TRUCK WAS UN-ABLE TO BE DRIVEN OR USED FOR APPX. 2 WEEKS, DUE TO REPAIRS. PROBLEM WITH WIRING HARNESS FIXED UNTIL APPX. 4 MONTHS AGO, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, TRUCK SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AND WOULD NOT START BACK. HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME TRUCK IS DRIVEN.... TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 40 MPH WITHIN FIVE SECONDS, WITHOUT THE BRAKES BEING APPLIED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE CONNECTION IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THEY RE-SECURED THE CONNECTION. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE APC SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SHOULD BE REPLACED. THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DOES NOT KNOW IF THE APC SENSOR WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. AS OF SEPTEMBER 26, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT CORRECTED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,310 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,545.
