FORD BLUE OVAL CERTIFIED DEALER PERFORMED SAFETY RECALL # 00V218000. SINCE RECALL SEVERAL INTERIOR TRIM PIECES HAVE COME OFF AND NOTICE OTHERS INSTALL INCORRECTLY. OWNER PAID NON FORD DEALER TO REINTALL PARTS BECAUSE OF LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN DEALER.SOME PARTS BECAUSE OF BEING INSTALL INCORRECTLY ARE NOW DAMAGED.
FORD BLUE OVAL CERTIFIED DEALER PERFORMED RECALL 00V41100 . ONWER NOTICE RATTLE IN TRUNK LID WHEN OPENING OR CLOSING , MECHANIC HAD LEFT BOTH TAG LIGHT BULBS OUT AND THEY WHERE MOVING AROUND IN TRUNK LID. OWNER MADE REPAIR AND NOTIFY DEALER WHEN TAKING VEHICLE BACK FOR OTHER REPAIRS.
I HAVE A 2000 FORD FOCUS THAT I HAVE HAD ALLOT OF PROBLEMS WITH. I SPECIALLY ORDERED THIS CAR TO HAVE ALL THE SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS, AND ANTI LOC BRAKES. WE ORIGINALLY HAD BOUGHT THE CAR IN CA. THE FIRST PROBLEM HAPPENED AT 3000 MILES THE REAR BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING, AND THE SEAT BELT BUZZER WONT GO OFF. WE TOOK IT TO FORD WERE THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. WE MOVED TO NC WERE WE NOW LIVE. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT THIS NOW 30,000 MILES. THEY SAID THEY WERE DEFECTIVE, THEY HAD THE CAR OVER NIGHT FOR THE SEAT BELT BUZZER, STILL NO PROBLEM FOUND. SO THEY REPLACED THE BRAKES. WHEN WE PICKED UP THE CAR THE SEAT BELT BUZZER DID THE JOB OF STAYING ON FOR US. IT STOPPED THE SQUEAL PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. 1 1/2 WEEKS LATER WE HAD AN ACCIDENT. WHITCH I MIGHT ADD THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF. ALSO IN THE ACCIDENT THE REAR SEAT CAME UNHINGED AND THREW A PLASTIC PIECE THAT HOLDS THE SEATBELT AT THE BACK OF HER HEAD CAUSING A LUMP. MY WIFE SAID THE BRAKES JUST DIDN'T WORK AS THEY DID PREVIOUSLY WITH THE NOISE. I TOOK IT OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE FOUND THE BRAKES WERE NOT ACTING RIGHT, THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP PROPERLY. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD, THEY TOLD US THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. A FRIEND OF OURS WAS A FORD MECHANIC AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WAS GOING TO LOOK AT IT FOR US, HE WAS KILLED THAT WEEK IN A CAR ACCIDENT UN-RELATED. SO WE LOST OUR INSIDE MECHANIC TO TELL US WHAT WAS REALLY HAPPENING. NOW AT 50,000 MILES THE NOISE IS BACK, MY WIFE WHO DRIVES THE VEHICLE SAYS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE THE BRAKES WILL ACT UP AGAIN. NOW WE JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME NOR THE PATIENTS TO DEAL WITH THE DEALERSHIPS ONCE AGAIN FOR NOW THE FAN BLOWER ONLY WORKS ON 3 ON THE DIAL AND THE CABLE BROKE TO SELECT DEF, VENTS, ECT. ALONG WITH THE RECALL OF THE WIPER MOTOR, AND THE NEEEDING OF NEW ROTERS ON THE FRONT. THIS CAR TO ME IS A LEMON.
I'VE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE WHOLE CAR AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH STARTED BLINKING. VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AND ENGINE DIED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY, MOSTLY AROUND 35 MPH. DEALER CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM.*AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAS COME ON. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY DEALER.*AK
TIRE CAME OFF IN DRIVEWAY WITH LITTLE WARNING - THIS CAR HAS SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED BEARING REPLACEMENT THIS SOON. A NEW DESIGN NEEDS DEVELOPMENT INSTEAD OF REPLACEMENT OF BEARINGS FOR 2 YEARS AS FORD HAS ANNOUNCED. A RECALL WAS SENT TO OWNERS IN A COLORFUL FLIER LIKE ADVERTISEMENT. THIS IS INAPPROPRIATE DUE TO THE FACT IT LOOKED LIKE AN AD NOT LIKE A RECALL PREVIOUSLY ISSUED BY FORD INSIDE A BROWN ENVELOPE CORRECTLY LABELED, ADDRESSED AND SENT TO OWNERS. THIS CAR IS A LEMON.*AK
VEHICLE SHUTDOWNS WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
THE RUBBER GASKET ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT HEADLAMPS IS DEFECTIVE ON THE 2000 FORD FOCUS. THE RUBBER DRIES OUT CAUSING THE GASKET BETWEEN THE HEADLAMP AND THE HOOD TO BREAK LOOSE AND POSSIBLY FLY OFF INTO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THIS HAPPENED ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT BOTH. I HAVE PERSONALLY CHECKED EVERY FORD FOCUS THAT I COULD, AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. MOST OF THOSE CARS HAS SOME FORM OF CRACKING OF THAT RUBBER GASKET. *AK
REAR TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES WITH 60000 MILE TIRES AND IT IS EATING THE TIRES IN LESS THAN 20000 MILES. THE REAR OF THE CAR IS VIBRATING AND BOUNCING AT ALL SPEEDS BUT IS WORST AT 55 TO 65 MPH. I HAVE TRIED TO GET IT FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIPS KEEP SAYING IT IS THE ALIGNMENT. ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN CORRECTED AND VERIFIED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESULT. ALL RECALL WORK TO DATE HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY DEALERSHIPS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ANY MPH TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS, BUT PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED.*AK
BOLT THAT ATTACHES SEAT TO VEHICLE FLOOR BROKE, AND THE SEAT WAS COMING APART.*AK
THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING, WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS AND ALSO EXHIBITS NO START NO CLANK CONDITION, DEALER REPLACED THE SENDER BUT THE PROBLEM RESURFACED. NLM
FUEL LINE CAME LOOSE, A CLIP RETAINER BROKE AND OUTPUT FUEL LINE DISCONNECTED, PUMPING FUEL ON HEAT SHIELD/CATALYTIC CONVERTER. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED OUT WHEN DAUGHTER WENT TO START VEHICLE , AND SHE NOTICED THAT GASOLINE WAS ALL ROUND AND UNDERNEATH VEHICLE ON THE GROUND. *AK THE DESIGN OF THE FUEL PUMP OUT PUT LINE WAS DEFECTIVE. WHEN THE FUEL LINE RETAINING CLIP BROKE, THE FUEL WAS SPRAYED ON TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR. *YH
VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT AND DIE WITHOUT WARNING AT 40MPH, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK

STEERING MECHANISM HAS LOCKED UP, LEAVING CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER STRANDED IN GEORGIA. A DEALERSHIP WAS REPAIRING DEFECT, AND STATED THAT PROBLEM WAS IN CODING OF KEY THAT LOCKED STEERING UP. WHIEL DRIVING 55 MPH VEHICLE STARTED SWAYING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. CONSUMER WENT TO DEALER WHO FOUND THAT REAR WHEEL BEARINGS HAD LOCKED UP. *AK

WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE WAS A SQUEAKING SOUND. DEALER REPLACED FRONT PADS, AND IT DID NOT REMEDY PROBLEM. ON 11 SEP 2001, WHILE APPLYING BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. DEALER REPLACED FRONT AND REAR PADS AND ROTORS.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE MAKING A TURN VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. NLM
3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE, CONSUMER TRIED TO TURN KEY IN IGNITION AND STEERING WHEEL WAS PERMANENTLY LOCKED. MECHANIC HAD VEHICLE TOWED AND REPLACED STEERING WHEEL. HOWEVER, PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. *AK *YD

BEARING NOISE NOTICED AT 7K MILES DEALER FINALLY REPLACED BEARINGS AT 23750 MILES. CUST IS GOING THRU ARBITRATION TO LEMON THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH AND WHEN CROSSING TO THE LEFT LINE LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND FISH TAILED.VEHICLE HEADED TOWARD A WALL.TURNED STEERING WHEEL TO OPPOSITE SIDE, AND CRASHED. CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT FRONT END PULLING TO SIDE BEFORE.*AK
WIFE WAS DRIVING CAR AT LOW SPEED WHEN IT STARTED VIBRATING AND DIED. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IS THIS USUAL FOR A ONE YEAR OLD CAR WITH 8400 MILES? ONE WEEK EARLIER, HAD TO HAVE CYLINDER HEAD REPLACED. ARE TWO EVENTS LINKED? *AK
ORIGINAL TIRES ON A FORD, FOCUS 2000, P20550R16 86H, DOT # 0211314E4. CONSUMER TOOK CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION, AND THEY SAID THAT FRONT PASSENGER'S TIRE HAD A BIG BUBBLE. CONSUMER FELT TIRE MAY SEPARATE.*AK THE DEALER INDICATED THE BUBBLE WAS CAUSED BY POTHOLE, BUT REPLACED IT BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNDER THAT CONDITION. *YH
THIS SPRING MY DAUGHTER HAD TWO TIRES BLOW WITH SIDEWALL PROBLEMS. THE FIRST TIME, SHE HIT A POTHOLE GOING ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE SIDEWALL WENT OUT. SHE REPLACED THIS TIRE. THEN ABOUT ONE MONTH LATER, SHE WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. SHE HAD PASSED TWO TRUCKS AND WENT BACK INTO HER LANE WHEN SOMETHING DID NOT FEEL RIGHT. BY THE TIME SHE COULD SLOW DOWN AND STOP, THE TREAD OF THE TIRE CAME OFF IN A LARGE CIRCLE AND DENTED THE SIDE OF HER CAR. THE WHEEL WAS ALSO DAMAGED. SHE CLAIMS THAT SHE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE TREAD OF THE TIRE TO INDICATE THAT SHE DID. HOWEVER, THE SIDEWALL WAS SHREDDED. NOW WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE TIRES. I DID NOT SEE THE FIRST TIRE, HOWEVER, SHE SAID THAT THE SIDEWALL HAD A HUGE HOLE IN AND THE TIRE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. HAVE THERE BEEN OTHER REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE TIRES? ON THE OTHER HAND, AFTER SEEING THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE TIRE, WE FEEL THAT THE FORD FOCUS HANDLED VERY WELL, ALLOWING HER TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT.*AK( DOT NUMBER: )
WHILE WORKING ON THE VEHICLE, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED A SEAL LEAK IN THE ENGINE, AND A LEAK IN TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES. LATER,WHILE ON THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO FISHTAIL IN THE BACK DUE TO A BOLT WHICH HELD THE REAR SUSPENSION HAD LOOSENED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HAD STALLING PROBLEMS, AND SEVERE CORROSION BUILDUP ON THE BATTERY. *AK *JB
CONTROL ARM FAILURE RESULTED IN TIRES NEEDING TO BE REPLACED, THOUGH THEY HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. FORD WOULD NOT WARRANTY THEM AND FIRESTONE WOULD NOT HONOR WARRANTY DUE TO DAMAGE BEING CAUSED BY DEFECT IN THE CAR. THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE STARTING AND/OR DYING HAS JUST BEGUN IN RECENT MONTHS AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE.*AK
I HAVE HAD 3 SETS OF BRAKES,3 SETS OF TIRES AND MY ROTORS SHAVED(THAT HELPED FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS). SEVENTY PERCENT OF MY MILEAGE IS INTERSTATE DRIVING,THEREFORE,NOT USING THE BRAKES THAT MUCH.THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VIBRATION OF THE WHEELS IS TO REPLACE THE ROTORS, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE WEARING OUT MY TIRES WITH THERE 50,000 MILE WARRENTY. IN OTHERWORDS, THE BRAKES AND ROTARES ON THIS CAR ARE OF THE POOREST QUALITY I HAVE EVER SEEN. SO MUCH FOR AMERICAN PRIDE, I'M GOING BACK TO MY HONDA!*AK

LIGHT FAILURE (CONSUMER DID NOT SPECIFY). GAS LEAKS. FAILED SUSPENSION PARTS (CONSUMER DID NOT SPECIFY). TIRES WEAR PREMATURELY (CONSUMER DID NOT GIVE TIRE INFORMATION). SPLASH SHIELDS BROKE. BROCKING WIRES IN CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM. *SLC
ENGINE STALLED FOUR TIMES DURING NORMAL OPERATION. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE AND REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND LINES. THEN IN MIDDLE OF JULY, WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND ENTERING HIGHWAY, VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. DEALER STATED THAT PROBLEM WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT STOPPED IN FRONT AND AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER COMPLAINED BEFORE INCIDENT TO FORD ABOUT AN OPEN SPOT ON STEERING WHEEL WHERE CONSUMER FELT FIRE WAS COMING FROM, THAT SPOT WAS WHERE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 70MPH ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A STREAKING NOISE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, AND VEHICLE WAS WOBBLING. NOTICED THAT LEFT REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. AT DEALERSHIP MECHANIC TOLD CONSUMER THAT REAR WHEEL BEARINGS WENT OUT. *AK
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 50MPH, AND AFTER HAVING IT INSPECTED BY MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP LEFT REAR BEARINGS FAILED ON HIGHWAY.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE EQUIPMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR A CRUNCHING SOUND WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS.. THE BRAKES SQUEALED WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED, THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THEY WERE FIXED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RESURFACED. *JB

CONSUMER HAS HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 (FIREHAWK GTA 195R6015) TIRES DUE NO TREAD BEING LEFT, TIRES ALSO BEGAN TO WOBBLE AND WOULD CAUSE VEHICLE TO DART BACK AND FORTH, CONSUMER DID TRY HAVING TIRES ROTATED AND REBALANCED BUT STILL DID NOT SOLVE WOBBLING PROBLEM. *JB
IGNITION AND STEERING LOCKED UP, KEY WOULD NOT TURN, VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *AK THERE WAS NOISE IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO REAR OUTSIDE MIRROR FAILURE. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS ON ACCEL. THERE WAS VIBRATION IN STEERING AT 45 MPH AND UP. THE HIGH SQEALING ON RAINY DAYS WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT WAS CAUSED BY DRIVE BELT MALFUNCTIONING. THE IGNITION LOCKED DUE TO CYLINDER ASSEMBLY PROBLEM. *YH
HAD JUST SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR AND GOT OUT OF VEHICLE. IT STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD, DOWN A HILL, AND HIT A SIGN. DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS DAMAGED.
