WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE WILL JERK, ON ONE OCCASION IT WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 35MPH AND THEN IT STALLED, VEHICLE HAS ALSO STALLED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. CONTACTED DEALER WHO CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK *SLC
CRUISE CONTROL SERVO ROUTES BRAKE LIGHT SYSTEM WHICH CAUSES NO BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN SERVO FAILED. RISK UNKNOWN TO DRIVER UNTIL NOTIFIED BY DEALER.
WHILE PARKING VEHICLE JUMPED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. *AK DURING THE INCIDENT, THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND BROKE THE WINDSHIELD. *YH

THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR RECALLS OOV-218 AND 00V-411. NLM
KEY FAILED/COULD NOT BE INSERTED INTO IGNITION. KEY IN HALF WAY , BUT COULD NOT BE RELEASED. WHEN FINALLY IT WAS RELEASED, IT COULD NOT BE REINSERTED FULLY. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC WAS ORDERING NEW PARTS FOR IGNITION. *AK
WHENEVER DRIVING CAN SMELL FUMES COMING INSIDE VEHICLE THROUH VENTS. SMELLS LIKE BURNING PLASTIC. GEARS WOULD GET STUCK. HARD TO SHIFT FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER GEAR. *AK
POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. CONSUMER HAD TO USE KEY TO GET IN AND OUT OF VEHICLE, THEN, AFTER A WEEK OF USING KEY, THE DOOR LOCKS LOCKED UP, AND COULD NO LONGER USE KEYS. CONSUMER HAD TO CLIMP IN AND OUT OF VEHICLE THROUGH WINDOW.*AK
TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER 7 TIMES FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS SINCE JAN 2001, BRAKES SQUEAK LOUDLY. DEALER REPLACED PADS AND REAR DRUMS. DID NOT REMEDY SITUATION. *AK THE BRAKE PROBLEM REOCCURED, AND THE CONSUMER STATES THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE NOT FIXABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LEMON. *YH

WHILE DRIVING COULD FEEL LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE IS PULLING TO SIDE WHERE SOMETIMES IR COULD LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEED, AND STEERING COULD LOCK TO LEFT SIDE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. *AK
THE CONSUMER REPORTED TO THE DEALER THAT THE GAS PEDAL WAS STICKING BUT THE DELAER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THE THROTTLE BODY ALSO STICKS. NLM

RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE (00V-303) OCTOBER 2000, PART(S) NOT AVAILABLE TO CORRECT CAMPAIGN, RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES (00V-218) & (00V-411) DECEMBER 2000, APPOINTMENT MADE FOR JANUARY 2ND TO CORRECT ALL 3 CAMPAIGNS, WAITED FOUR HOURS AT DEALERSHIP, CLAIMED VEHICLE, INVOICE SHOWING "PARTS NECESSARY TO CORRECT" RECALL CAMPAIGNS (00V-218) & (00V-411) NOT THERE. CJ
TWICE, WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY WENT TO FULL THROTTLE. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. ON SECOND OCCASION, CAR RESTARTED ON FULL THROTTLE A NUMBER OF TIMES BEFORE SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED ON IDLE. DEALERSHIP CAN'T LOCATE PROBLEM.
CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND NO WARNING THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. CAUSED CONSUMER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. TS ALSO NOTED VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHEN FUEL TANK AT 1/4 OR LOWER AND / OR WHEN A TURN WAS MADE. SENDER AND PUMP ASSEMBLY REPLACED. *TT
AFTER 3,000 OR 4,000 MILES BRAKES START JUMPING. NEED CHANCHE DISC(L,R)SERVICED. REPORTED THEY SAID NEED TO SEND TO MACHINE SHOP. MR
ENGINE STALLED AT 30 TO 35 MPH. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC, AND MECHANIC STATED THAT BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY. CONSUMER STATED THAT PROBLEM STILL OCCURING.
NUTS AND STUDS HAVE STRIPPED, AND DRUM CANNOT COME OFF WHEN TAKEN TO DEALER THE FIRST TIME. VEHICLE HAS HAD THAT PROBLEM SINCE THEN. CURRENTLY, CONSUMER NEEDS TO REPLACE DRUM. *AK
BRAKES ARE SQEAKING AND MAKING KNOCKING NOISE. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
CONSUMER HAD A FRONT END COLLISION AT ABOUT 35 MPH, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CONTACTED DEALER WHO STATED THAT AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. *AK *SLC
BEAMS ARE NOT LIGHT ENOUGH, CAN HARDLY SEE OTHER CARS.*AK
TRUNK LATCH FAILS TO CATCH 95% OF THE TIME. TRUNK KEY FAILS TO TURN LOCK MOST OF THE TIME. THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2000. THERE WAS NO EVENT LEADING TO THIS FAILURE. I BELIEVE THE TRUNK LOCK MATERIALS ARE CORRODING JUST LIKE THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS WHICH WERE RECALLED. THE TRUNK LOCK SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS PROBLEM IS CLEARLY THE RESULT OF FAULTY MANUFACTURING MATERIALS. I REQUESTED DEALERSHIPS PERFORM REPAIRS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT FORD HEADQUARTERS HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL . WHY? NHTSA SHOULD MAKE THIS HAPPEN. THE CONSEQUENCE OF A FAILED TRUNK LOCK/LATCH IS THAT THE TRUNK DOOR WILL POP OPEN -- ALLOWING THINGS TO FLY OUT OF THE TRUNK AND FLY INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC ENDANGERING OTHERS AS WELL AS BLOCK REAR WINDOW VISION. THIS COULD CAUSE FATALITIES TO BOTH THE VEHICLE DRIVER AND NEAR BY VEHICLES. . THE HUBCAPS HAVE CRACKED AND BROKEN OFF IN PIECES DURING COLD WEATHER WHILE PARKED (IE., THE HUBCAPS WERE NOT STRUCK BY EXOGENOUS ROCKS OR ANYTHING ELSE). THIS IS CLEARLY THE FAULT OF SUBSTANDARD MANUFACTURING MATERIALS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY EMPLOYEES AT HEADQUARTERS HAVE STATED THIS TO ME. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD REPLACE THE HUBCAPS AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER. EXOGENOUS MATERIALS CAN HIT THE UNPROTECTED TIRES, CAUSE A BLOW OUT. IT IS NOT RIGHT TO MAKE THE CUSTOMER PAY FOR SUBSTANDARD MATERIALS. I COULD TAKE A WILD GUESS THAT THE WHEEL WELLS -- ON MY CAR -- REPLACED DIRECTLY BY THE VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING FROM THE WARREN PLANT -- DID NOT LOOK AT THE STRESS AND HAIR LINE CRACKS HE FAULTY WHEEL WELLS PLACED ON THE ORIGINAL HUB CABS. IT'S TIME TO FINISH THE JOB! FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S EMPLOYEES HAVE STATED TO ME THAT THE 2000 YEAR MODEL (THE FIRST YEAR THIS VEHICLE WAS TRANSITIONED FROM EUROPEAN MANUFACTURERS) MANUFACTURED IN THE WARREN PLANT DID NOT PERFORM THE NECESSARY QUALITY CONTROL TO ENSURE THAT THESE MATERIALS FUNCTIONED IN COLD WEATHER CLIMATES. *TR
ENGINE JUST STALLS EVERY 3 MONTHS WHILE DRIVING. HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN 4 TIMES! THE LAST TIME I WASNT UNDER WARRANTY AND IT COST ME 500+...THEY REPLACED MANY THINGS BUT IT STILL CONTINUES. ALSO AFTER ONLY 23000 MILES MY LEFT CALIPER SLIPPED CAUSING EXTREME WEAR AND TEAR ON THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. COST 300 TO FIX THAT. *AK
PROBLEMS NOT BEING ABLE TO SHIFT PROPERLY, GEARS GRIND, POP OUT, BURNING SMELL IN AC/HEAT, NEVER BUY FORD AGAIN, BOUGHT IN 8/00 NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY VEHICLE WILL STALL AND DIE WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE . *AK
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE #00V218000 CONCERNING BODY ROOF. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP & INQUIRD IF PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. RECEIVED AN AFFIRMATIVE ANSWER. TOOK VEHICLE ON DATE GIVEN & LEFT IT ALL DAY. RETURNED LATER & WAS INFORMED BY BILL NYBERG-ASST SERVICE MANAGER THAT NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. WOULD NEED TO WAIT FOR A POST CARD FROM MANUFACTURER REGARDING PARTS TO REPAIR A-PILLAR. *AK
RECALL 00V302000/ SPPED CONTROL CABLE. WHILE DRIVING HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEM WITH SPEED CONTROL. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS. FIVE OTHER RECALLS HAD BEEN MADE ON THIS VEHICLE. *AK
AIR BAGS FALSELY DEPLOYED IN A LESS THAN 10MPH COLLISION, WHERE THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER CAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH FELL ASLEEP, HIT A GUARDRAIL AND SLID 5 MILES, AND THEN REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH KEPT GOING. CRASHED , AND PASSENGER'S SIDE WAS MASHED IN 3-4 INCHES. NO INJURIES EXCEPT BRUISES. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, AND WAS REARENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT ABOUT 40-50MPH. BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, DRIVER'S AIRBAG SPILLED CHEMICALS ON DRIVER'S HAND AND UP TO ELBOW. DRIVER RECEIVED CHEMICAL BURNS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING @ 25MPH THE LEFT REAR WHEEL CAME OFF, IT WAS PINCHED UNDER THE CAR AND THEN JETTED INTO A MAILBOX AND STOPPING IN THE SIDE OF ANOTHER CAR. FORD SAID THAT IT WAS DRIVER ERROR, WE ARE NOT GETTING ANY HELP FROM CUSTOMER RELATIONS OR DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS SOMETHING WE DID, I HOPE THEY FIX IT BECAUSE ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PEDAL IT WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR, ALSO BRAKES WILL GRIND. ROTORS HAD TO BE TURNED, AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED 7 TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED. *AK TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND JERKS AND RPMS JUMP. NO PROBLEM FOUND. CONSUMER HEARS LOOSE GRAVEL SOUND FROM RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AREA. DEALER FOUND WHEEL WELL LOOSE. DEALER FOUND SERPENTINE BELT FAILED CAUSING WHISTLE SQUEAL UNDER HOOD. GAS LIGHT ON WITH FULL TANK AND DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY. EVAPORATIVE HOSE LOOSE. DEALER REMOVED AND INSTALLED FUEL TANK. CIGARETTE LIGHTER NOT WORKING. R-CUP HOLD BUBBLING. DRIVER SIDE MIRROR KNOB FALLS OFF. REAR CHILD SEAT LATCH COVER IN BROKE. FRONT DRIVER SEAT METAL FELL OUT. BOTH HEADLAMPS MOULDING FALL OUT. SUNVISOR MIRROR/BRACKET MOULDING ON PASSENGER SIDE BETWEEN DOOR / DASH LOOSE. BROKEN. RIGHT OUTER AC VENT BROKEN. LOOSE CARPET ON RIGHT FRONT FLOOR. PILLAR TRIM COMING OFF. DECK LID WIRE HARNESS HAD TP BE REPLACED. CLICKING NOISE FROM L/H FRONT OF VEHICLE. EGR VALVE REPLACED. LEFT REAR TAIL LAMP IS OUT. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. PROBLEMS WITH REWIND BUTTON FOR AM/FM CASSETTE. *TT

UNABLE TO GET DEALER TO HONOR RECALLS OR PROGARM DUE TO NO PARTS AVAILABLE AT REDLANDS AUTO CENTER IN REDLANDS, CA; PHONE # 909/793-3211. SEEKING HELP FROM NHTSA IN THIS MATTER. WHILE APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. DEALER IS INSPECTING VEHICLE. *AK
RECEIVED NOTICE #00V218000 & CONTACTED DEALER. SET AN APPOINTMENT. TOOK VEHICLE ON DATE GIVEN. AFTER ARRIVING WAS INFORMED THAT NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE A-PILLER FOR ROOF. *AK
THE CONSUMER ECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 00V303, A RETAINER CLIP WAS INSTALLED ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE WHEEL BEARING WAS ALRIGHT AND DIDNOT NEED TO BE REPLACED, A FEW MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING WAS DESTROYED, THE SPINDLE WAS RUINED AND THE WHEEL WAS READY TO COME OFF, THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO REFUSED TO FIX THE VEHICLE UNDER RECALL, THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE FIXED AND IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT. *JB *NLM
TRANSMISSION IS STICKY WHILE SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR WITH CLUTCH FULLY ENGAGED. THE BRAKE PEDAL INTERMITTANTLY GETS VERY HARD GIVING REDUCED BRAKING ACTION. *SLC
ACCELERATOR STUCK AT 2000 RPM'S, DEALER SAID THERE WAS RUB MARKS ON THE INSIDE OF ASSEMBLY. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN CURRENT CONDITION. THE PART IS BACKORDED NATIONALLY.*AK
I HAVE HAD TO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR FOR IT TO HAVE BEEN BOUGHT NEW IN 2000. THIS PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IS UNBELIEVABLE. WHEN WE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REFERRED US TO A LOCKSMITH. THE LOCKSMITH TOLD US THAT HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE HE HAD DONE OVER 300 OF THESE IN THE LAST YEAR OR SO. WHEN WE HAD A TOW TRUCK TO COME AND TOW IT TO THE DEALER,HE TOLD US THAT HE TOWS 2 OR 3 OF THESE CARS A DAY FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK IT IS ABSOLUTELY UPSURD AND TOTALLY UNFAIR THAT FORD HASN'T RECALLED THIS PART. ALSO, I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS ON THIS CAR DEC. 2000, AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT MY BRAKES NEED TO BE DONE AGAIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS CAR. ESPECIALLY THE 2000 MODEL. I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND A NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AND MORE WITH THIS CAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND WHEN STEPPING ON BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW SPEED DOWN, BRAKES DID NOT WORK, CAUSING CONSUMER TO HIT GUARDRAIL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY, AND DEALER COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. *AK

RECALL 00V303000/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 00S31 VEHICLE HAS MADE SQUEAKING NOISES SINCE PURCHASED. CONSUMER THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS NEW. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. RECALL ONLY COVERED REAR BRAKES & NOT FRONT. *AK

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 65-75MPH CONSUMER HAD A COLLISION. FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE DID NOT GO OFF, AND AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. RECEIVED RECALL AFTER COLLISION. PLEASE PROVIDE VIN AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
