AM I ELIGIBLE TO EXERCISE RIGHTS UNDER THE VEHICLE LEMON LAW? NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
NATIONWIDE INSURANCE HAS RULED A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, AUTO BODY SHOP INVOVLED ALSO AGREED, FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS YET TO REVIEW OR ACKNOWLEGE ANY ERROR.
THE MAIN FOCUS OF THIS COMPLAINT IS THE FACT THAT THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE FAILED THREE TIMES IN THE APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR. THE FIRST TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS OLD. THE SECOND TIME CAME WITHOUT WARNING WHILE VACATIONING IN VERMONT WITH YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR, THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WAS NEAR FALLING OFF. THE FINAL TIME THE REAR BEARINGS FAILED, THEY WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO A SECOND RECALL ON THE REAR BEARINGS. IN ADDITION, MY FORD FOCUS HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR A-PILLAR TRIM PANELS REPLACEMENT , AND DECKLID WIRE HARNESS RREPLACEMENT. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE SPENT MORE TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP GETTING REPAIRS ON THIS CAR, THAN I HAVE SPENT COLLECTIVELY ON ALL OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED.*AK
CONSUMERS VEHICLE JERKS AND SURGED WHILE BEING DRIVEN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES, THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE TRANS RANG SENSOR 3 TIMES AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION ONCE BUT THE PROBLEN REOCCURS, POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE ENGINE. (ATTORNEY FOR CLIENT). NLM
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ERRATIC SURGING WHICH CAUSED SUDDEN ACCELERATION/ JUMPING OUT OF GEAR, AND TAKING OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON FIVE OCCASIONS, AND DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS*AK
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP CLUTCH SPRING BROKE, CAUSING THE PEDAL TO REMAIN ON THE FLOORBOARD. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 8 DAYS. THE PART TO CORRECT PROBLEM IS ON BACK ORDER. *AK *ML
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AND THE SPRING IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL BROKE/POPPED UP & HIT THE CONSUMER IN THE LEG. IT MADE THE VEHICLE VERY HARD TO DRIVE.*AK
AIR CONDITIONING WIRING CONTINUES TO SHORT OUT. CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
A BAR WAS PUSHING UPWARD FROM THE SEAT INTO THE BACK OF DRIVER WHEN SEATED. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS OR MORE BEFORE THEY COULD REPLACE THE SEAT, AND IT WAS OKAY FOR CONSUMER TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE CONSUMER RECEIVED THREE RECALLS ONE OF WHICH (OOS31) WAS FOR INSUFFICIENT WHEEL BEARING CLAMP LOAD, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS DEFECT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT, THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED SOME BRUISING FROM THE ACCIDENT.
IS IT COMMON FOR A NEW VEHICLE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT AFTER DRIVING IT FOR ONLY 3 MONTHS? EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS SHOULD MANUFACTURER BE HELD RESPONSIBLE OTHER THAN REPLACEMENT, IS IT SAFE TO ASSUME THAT AFTER OWNING A VEHICLE FOR ONLY 3 MONTHS AND THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT, A NEW ONE IS INSTALLED, THAT THIS IS A SIGN OF A LEMON? *AK
I PURCHASED A 2000 (4DR) FORD FOCUS WAGON SE ON 06/17/00 AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE EVER SINCE. HERE IS A LIST OF MY COMPLAINTS CONSTANT CLICKING AND SCREECHING NOISE WHEN I TURN OR GO OVER A BUMP SOUNDS AS IF THE CAR HAS ARTHITIS PROBLEMS SOMETIMES MY CAR WILL NOT START UNTIL AFTER 3 OR 4 ATTEMPTS LEFT BACK WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL DOWN & ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT HEARD IT SINCE SUMMER THE WINDOWS MAKE NOISE WHEN OPERATED LIKE GLASS RUBBING AGAINST METAL LUBERICATE ALL OF THE CAR DOORS ONCE A MONTH BECAUSE THEY SCREECH EXTREMELY LOUD WHEN OPENED OR SHUT I HAVE BEEN IN ALMOST 4 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF SEVERE BLIND SPOTS ON BOTH THE L & R SIDES OF THE CAR NIGHT DRIVING BAD - THE CAR SITS AT A DOWNWARD ANGLE WHICH ALLOWS REAR VEHICLES HEADLIGHTS TO BLIND YOU WITH YOUR OWN REARVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS - THIS MAKES VISIBILITY IMPOSSIBLE & VERY DANGEROUS A SOUR-VINEGAR LIKE SMELL APPEARS SOMETIMES ON 02/23/02 @ SEARS AUTO CENTER I HAD TO REPLACE MY TIRES DUE TO BOWED/BUCKLED - ODOMETER WAS AT 22114 - PAID OUT OF MY POCKET TO REPLACE TIRES $508.46 MECHANIC COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED BUT INSTRUCTED ME TO CALL FORD & GET REIMBURSED FOR THE TIRES - I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR NO REIMBURSEMENT. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS A DIRECT TIRE ISSUE BUT A CAUSE ISSUE FROM THE CAR ITSELF SAFTEY RECALL 00S31 EVERYTIME I HIT A PUDDLE AFTER RAIN THE ENGINE MAKES A SCREAMING SOUND & LOSES SOME POWER. AFTER TAKE THE CAR HESITATES LIKE IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL GEAR? WHAT IS GOING ON? WHY IS FORD NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A BAD PRODUCT AND A TOTAL RECALL ON THE CAR ITSELF? THIS CAR HAS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, FORD DOES NOT GIVE YOU A LOANER FOR ITS BAD PRODUCT & THE MOST THEY WILL SAY IS WE ARE SORRY TO INCONVENIENCE YOU OR WE APOLOGIZE FOR THIS SITUATION. I DO NOT WANT THEIR SYMPATHY I WANT A CAR NOT JUST PRICED AT 19,750.97 BUT VALUED AT $19,750.97. I WANT A CAR THAT IS SAFE & RELIABLE!
I WAS EXITING HIGHWAY 99 IN MODESTO, CA AND THE SPEED CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES I THEN EXITED THE HIGHWAY OFFRAMP AT 70 MPH AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS STRONGLY APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. I SPED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION CONTINUING AT 70 MPH AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO RE-ENTER THE HIGHWAY ON-RAMP ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION. FINALLY, I DISENGAGED SPEED CONTROL BY PRESSING THE "OFF" BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE I REAR-ENDED OTHER CARS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THIS VEHICLE'S SPEED CONTROL WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED AS PART OF A RECALL. IF THERE HAD BEEN OTHER VEHICLES IN THE INTERSECTION WHEN I EXITED THE HIGHWAY, I MAY HAVE KILLED MYSELF AND ANOTHER DRIVER. IT WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. I OWN A FORD FOCUS ZTS WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 6/19/00. I JUST THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT WHAT MAY BE A DEADLY DEFECT IN THE SPEED CONTROL OPTION. *AK
MULTIPLE PROBLEMS: REPLACED CD PLAYER ONCE, THREE BRAKE JOBS, MULTIPLE TRUNK LATCH REPAIRS, REPLACED TRANSMISSION AT 40000, 3 RECALLS, IGNITION SWITCH LOCKED UP. THE 2000 FOCUS IS CLEARLY A LEMON! *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 68MPH AND CRUISE CONTROL GOT STUCK. CONSUMER RAN OFF INTO THE SHOULDERS OF THE ROAD TO PREVENT FROM HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALSO, VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED WHEN DRIVING AT SPEED OF 50 MPH AND OVER. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY ENGINE REVVS UP TO 700 RPM WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH. PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP. AN ADJUSTMENT WAS MADE ON THE IDLE. HOWEVER, CONSUMER WAS STILL EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE.*AK
MY VEHICLE JERKS VERY BADLY WHEN SHIFT GEARS SPECIALLY FROM PARKING TO REVERSE IT JERKS VERY MUCH AND THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN THERE FOR A WHILE THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN VISTA FORD OF OXNARD AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT.*AK
BRAKES HAVE BEEN SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP NUMBEROUS TIMES. HOWEVER, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES WHICH TEMPORARILY SLOWED DOWN VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THEN, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, CAUSING FRONT END DAMAGE. ALSO, DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK/ HEAD INJURIES/ CRACKED RIBS, AND DISLOCATED SHOULDER. IN ADDITION, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, BUT SPEED OF IMPACT WAS UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / ATTACHMENTS.*AK
THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. *MJS
EVERYTIME CONSUMER PUT ON BRAKES THEY WOULD SQUEAK. TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. CONSUMER TOOK IN A SECOND TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY REPLACED THE PADS, A FEW THOUSAND MILES LATER AT 3000 MILES, THERE WAS VIBRATION, TOOK TO DEALER AND ROTORS WERE WARPED. DEALER EPLACED ROTORS.*AK
THE AIR CONDITIONER VALVE FAILED CAUSING CONDENSATION TO LEAK UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR MAT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE THUS RESULTING IN MILDEW FORMATION AND DETERIORATION OF THE FLOORBOARD. NLM
IGNITION SWITCH, MADE OUT OF PLASTIC, BROKEN AND CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO START VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFED, AND REPAIRES WERE MADE AFTER WAITING 18 DAYS BEFORE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
BRAKES ARE INOPERABLE. WHEN CONSUMER APPLIES BRAKES PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. *AK
FORD DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE CONSUMER WITH NECESSARY INFORMATION, AND CONSUMER FELT THAT WHEEL COULD HAVE COME OFF. *AK
I REPLACED THE WHOLE BRAKING SYSTEM, PADS,ROTORS,DRUMS AND SHOES IN LESS THAN 10,000 MILES, AGAIN IN LESS THAN A YEAR AND IN NOV. 2001 SHOES WERE REPLACED AND NEED NEW ROTORS AND PADS ON FRONT AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME IN LESS THAN 2 1/2 YEARS! PLEASE GO TO WWW.FORDFOCUSBRAKEPROBLEMS.COM YOU WILL SEE THIS IS A REACCURING PROBLEM AND A MALFUNCTION OF FORD.*AK
WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON, THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF CONDENSATION DRIPPING BEHIND THE CENTER COLUMN AND ONTO THE GAS PEDAL CAUSING IT TO BE VERY SLIPPERY.
MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR. HE GOT TO HIS DESTINATION AND THERE WAS SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HE WAS GOING TO OPEN THE HOOD BUT HE NOTICED FLAMES AND HE THEN RETRIEVED AN EXTINGUISHER AND CALLED 911. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS TOTALLY BURNED AND ALL THE WINDOWS WERE SHATTERED. *TR
THE FAILURE OF THE SEAL ALLOWED DIFFERIENTIAL FLUID TO LEAK OVER THE RIGHT SIDE BRAKE COMPONENTS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HAVE NO BRAKES ON A CORNER. NLM
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULDN'T WORK WHILE DRIVING IN A RAIN STORM. DEALER WAS CONTACTED & APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED. OWNER LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ISSUED FOR HER VEHICLE, IT WAS RECEIVED AFTERWARDS. *AK *ML
VEHICLE VIBRATED UPON STARTING AND DRIVING. MORE ACCELERATION CAUSED VIBRATION TO WORSEN. ALSO, VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR WHILE REMAINING IN DRIVE. VEHICLE IS AT DEALER'S SHOP AT THIS TIME. *AK
ENGINE HAS SURGING/MISSING. FORD SAYS ITS A COMMAND MODULE CALIBRATION PROBLEM AND NOT SAFETY RELATED. CANT FIX PROBLEM. SAID FORD IS AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT CANT FIX IT YET. CONCERNED THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. FORD DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT ACCEPT CAR FOR SERVICE FOR A THIRD ATTEMPT. TOLD TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL FORD ENGINEERS CAN FIND A FIX.
THIS VEHICLE IS CLEARLY ONE OF MULTIPLE PROBLEMS AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. ENGINE COOLING, TRANSMISSION BRAKING AND STARTER ISSUES. FORD PROTECTING SELF AS USUAL.

MASTER CYLINDER IS BLEEDING. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED AND INFORMED DEALER THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FROM OTHER VEHICLES. PARTS DELAYED BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING ADJUSTED BY FORD. VEHICLE REPAIRED. *AK *ML
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AND UPON APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE STARTED TO PULL TO THE LEFT, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED AND WAS REPLACED, APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AGAIN IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT, NOTHING HAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD ON EITHER TIMES THAT IT HAD CRACKED. AIR CONDITIONER DRAINS INSIDE THE CAR TO THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR. BRAKES SQUEAK, DEALER REPLACED REAR BRAKE SHOES, HOWEVER NOISE IS STILL THERE. STEERING WHEEL WAS PEELING, DEALER REPLACED IT. VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT TIMES, DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE PCM AND REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. TRANSMISSION SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING, IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE UNTIL AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS, DEALER HAS REPLACED THE MLP SENSOR AND TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR TO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT PROBLEM YET IT STILL CONTINUES, TRANSMISSION LINES LEAKING AND DEALER REPLACED LINES. NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HOOD RATTLED, DEALER ADJUSTED AND LUBED THE HOOD STOPS. ENGINE RACES AT TIMES, VEHICLE HESITATES AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. *SLC
CONSUMER WAS REAR ENDED, CAUSING A FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH ENGINE COMPLETELY FELL FROM VEHICLE ONTO THE PAVEMENT. *AK THE MECHANIC INDICTED THAT FALLING OF THE ENGINE WAS DUE TO ENGINE MOUNT FAILURE AND DEFECTIVE HARDWARE. *YH

TRAVELING 5-10MPH WHEN AIR BAGS WENT OFF BEFORE I HIT OTHER CAR. CAUSED 2ND AND 3RD DEGREE BURNES TO BOTH PEOPLE WITH NO DAMAGE TO OUT SIDE OF CAR. *AK
THE DRIVER SIDE TIE ROD AND AXLE COLLAPSED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, LOSS OF CONTROL RESULTED IN ACCIDENT. YH
CONSUMER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 55MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE SLAMMED INTO CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, AND IT SKIDDED INTO A LAMP POLE. UPON IMPACT, DIVERS/PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE INJURIES. *AK
CAR STALLS OUT MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE POWER STEARING TO GO OUT AND ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS TO GO ON, SCARED FOR MY SAFETY. CONTACTED SALEPERSON AND DEALERSHIP OWNER WITH NO HELP OFFERED BY THEM
CONSUMER WAS ON 7TH SET OF TIRES AT 60,000, AN ALIGNMENT WITH EACH SET. RADIO HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE/ BRAKES HAD BEEN COMPLETELY REPLACED TWICE/ WHEEL BEARINGS HAD BEEN REPLACED,AND IGNITION WAS REPLACED ONCE AFTER VEHICLE HAD BEEN TOWED. LOW AND BEHOLD, CONSUMER'S FOCUS WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY NEEDED TO BE TOWED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. CAR WAS GETTING HORRIBLE GAS MILEAGE, SOMETIMES HAD BRAKE FAILURE WHICH CAUSED 2 ACCIDENTS. ALSO, LUGS:NUTS HAD BEEN REPLACED. THE CAR WOULD SOMETIMES STALL FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND WAS IN NEED OF AN ALTERNATOR.*AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING VEHICLE STALLS OUT, CAUSING LOSS OF POWER. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER FOURTEEN TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE DATE. *AK
THE INSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR REFLECT EXCESSIVELY BRIGHT LIGHT AND THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO USE THIS MIRROR. *YH
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, VEHICLE ACCELERATED, AND IT MADE A SQUEALING SOUND. HE WOULD HAVE TO APPLY BRAKES AND TURN VEHICLE OFF. HE COULD FEEL THAT VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM HIM. *AK
