PASSENGER'S SIDE FLOOR KEEPS FILLING UP WITH WATER WHEN IT RAINS OR SNOWS. 2. BRAKES ARE MAKING A LOUD SQUEAKY NOISE, AND CAUSING A LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE.
I HAVE HAD 6 RECALLS ON THIS CAR SINCE MY PURCHASE DATE OF DEC 11, 1999. ALSO I TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED ON DEC 07, 2000 AND I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CALLED WHEN THE PARTS TO FIX MY BRAKES BECAME AVAILABLE. TODAY IS 02-05-01 AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL YET. I AM NOT PLEASED WITH THIS CAR AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE RELEASED FROM MY LEASE. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING OFF WORK OR CHANGING MY SCHEDULE BECAUSE THIS CAR KEEPS BEING RECALLED. THANK YOU. *AK
CAR STALLS REPEATEDLY, AND BRAKES WHINE LOUDLY. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR IN THE SERVICE CENTER A TOTAL OF 14 DAYS ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITH NO RESOLUTION. FORD TELLS US THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO SERVICE THE CAR UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE. I AM VERY UPSET AT FORD AS A COMPANY, THEY ARE NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, AND THEY ARE ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS. I AT NO TIME FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR, IT SHAKES, SQUEAKS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY STALLS AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE RECORDS FOR ALL SERVICE REPAIRS AND DOCUMENTED PROOF THAT THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN FURTHER LEGAL ACTION AGAINST FORD, BUT I HOPE THIS COMPLAINT WILL HELP ME IN MY LEGAL BATTLE. *AK

CONSUMER RECIEVED 2 RECALLS, 00V-303 (HUB RETAINING NUT) AND 00V-218 (FMVSS 201 INTERIOR HEAD IMPACT REQUIREMENTS) AND IS VERY UPSET, DISHEARTENED AND FRUSTRATED BY THESE NOTICES BECAUSE HE HAS TO TAKE OFF WORK TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED. NLM
WHILE TRAVELING AT 40 MPH AND WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL, PEDAL WOULD NOT TRAVEL TO FLOORBOARD, CAUSING CONSUMER TO RUN OFF ROAD. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CONSUMER FEELS THE VEHICLE HAS HAD TOO MANY RECALLS FOR A NEW (4MONTHS OLD) VEHICLE AND DOES NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT, CONSUMER RECIEVED RECALL 00V-303 FOR THE REAR WHEEL HUB RETAINING CLIP NUT AND RECALL 00V-218 FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN INTERIOR IMPACT REQUIREMENTS. CONSUMER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO HAVE RECALL 00V-302 CONCERNING THE SPEED CONTROL CABLE AND 00V-303 CONCERNING THE REAR WHEEL HUB RETAINING NUT REPAIRED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. NLM

INIATIALLY DEALER HAD NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR RECALL 00V-030, RECALL KIT ARRIVED BUT DEALER CALLED AND TOLD CONSUMER THAT THEY USED THE RECALL KIT AND HAD NONE LEFT, THE MECHANICS HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO INSTALL THE KITS WITHOUT DAMAGIMG THEM BECAUSE THEY DIDNT KNOW HOW AND RUINED THE KITS THEY RECIEVED, DEALER DOESNT EXPECT TO RECIEVE ADDITION KITS SOON. REAR DRUM BRAKES MAKE SQUEAKING SOUND WHEN APPLIED. FRONT DISK BRAKES MAKE METAL ON METAL GRINDING SOUND WHEN APPLIED. DEALER DID BRAKE INSPECTION AND SAID ALL FOCUS CARS MAKE THIS SOUND AND THEY CANNOT FIX OR REPLACE BRAKE LININGS OR DISK MATERIAL UNTIL A RECALL IS DECLARED. IT IS UNNERVING TO DRIVE A NEW VEHICLE WITH POTENTIAL FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS. *AK
FRONT AIR BAG DID DEPLOY WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE COASTED BACK AND BUMPED FRONT BUMPER OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. THEIR WAS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK *SLC
WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED BRAKES MAKE A SCREECHING SOUND THAT DOSE'NT STOP UNTIL VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. DEALER HAS BEEN COPNTACTED.*AK

DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP,HAD TO TOW TO DLRSHIP.STRONG GAS ODOR AFTER REPAIR,DLRSHIP SAID BAD CONNECTION, STILL STRONG ODOR, DLRSHP DISCOVERED SEAMS IN GAS TANK FAILING, NEED REPLACEMENT. ATTEMPTED TO INSTALL NEW ONE, AND "O" RING WAS TORN.MUST WAIT DUE TO"NATIONAL" BACK ORDER.DOES THIS MEAN THERE ARE LOTS MORE FAILING GAS TANKS? SOUNDS LIKE PINTO PROBLEM. SEVERE SAFETY QUESTION. THE BLACK WINDOW PANELING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAME LOOSE AND INHIBITS THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FROM CLOSING PROPERLY, PANEL WAS NOT IN STOCK TO BE REPAIRED. NLM
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND IS MAKING NOISE, THE CONSUMER FEELS IT ISN'T THE TIRES DUE TO HAVING ROTATIONS AND ALIGNMENTS DONE, THE PROBLEMS COULD POSSIBLY BE A SUSPENSION PROBLEM, TIRES REPLACED HOWEVER THE MAKE/MODEL OF THE TIRES WERE NOT PROVIDED. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY & HAD PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. HAD TO DOWNSHIFT TO SLOW DOWN. PUMPED BRAKES TWICE BEFORE STOPPING. SECOND TIME WAS SLOWING DOWN & HAD NO BRAKES. USED EMERGENCY BRAKES TO STOP. THIRD TIME HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH BRAKES ONLY, ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED FOCUS. ALSO, TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP WHEN SHIFTING & WOULD MAKE SQUEAKING & CLICKING NOISES. *AK
BRAKES CONTINUALLY EMIT HIGH-FREQUENCY SQUEAL. RETURNED TO DEALER ON 4 OCCASIONS. ONLY RESOLUTION PROVIDED WAS TO LUBE CALIPER PADS; THIS DID NOT ELIMINATE PROBLEM. CONTACTING FORD MOTOR CO. TO NO SATISFACTION. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE SOUND OCCURS DUE TO HARDNESS OF BRAKE PADS. IF SOFTER PADS WERE USED, WEAR LIFE WOULD BE DECREASED. REVIEW OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE AND FOUND APPROXIMATELY 15 OTHERS OF A SIMILAR NATURE. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS COULD BE POTENTIAL HAZARD (BEISDES GOING DEAF FROM DECIBLE LEVEL). WHY FORD WON'T REPAIR THIS PROBLEM? CAR IS SATISFACTORY OTHERWISE, EXCEPT I FEEL IT SHOULD GET BETTER GAS MILEAGE FOR A 4 CYLINDER VEHICLE.
VEHICLE DIES AND STARTS UP AGAIN INSTANTLY IN MID-DRIVE. VERY SPONTANEOUS. WILL HAPPEN EIGHT TIMES IN ONE DAY AND NONE THE NEXT. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONTINUALLY SENDS CAR BACK SAYING THAT THEY CANNOT "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM.*AK

ALSO, TAPE DECK HAD AN ELECTRICAL SHORT/ VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE WHILE IT WAS IDLING., AND ENGINE REVVED ON ITS OWN . VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING INTO NEUTRAL. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH,THIS VEHICLE STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
