WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MAJOR BODY INJURIES.*AK *YH
AT 23,000 TIRES ON FRONT OF CAR WORN RIGHT TO THR STEEL BELTS .I FAITHFULLY HAD TIRES ROTATED AND NOT ONE PERSON ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WERE SOMWORN. IF I HAD NOT GONE WHEN I HAD IT MAY HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED ABOUT HOW FORD MOTOR IS HANDLING THE SITUATION.THEY KEEP PASSING THE BUCK TO SOMEONE ELSE.*AK
WHILE EXITING A RAMP VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN. CAUSE UNKNOWN. AS A RESULT, STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUTAND VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
POWER DOOR LOCKS HAVE ACTIVATED INCORRECTLY. WHILE OUTSIDE THE CAR SCRAPING THE WINDSHIELD, CAR RUNNING, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WENT INTO THE LOCKED POSITION, PREVENTING ME FROM GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE BUSHINGS FAILED RUINING THE BACK TIRES. THE DOOR LOCKS HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS IN AN ACCIDENT AND FORD HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSE AND THEY DISCOVERED BROKEN PARTS IN THERE. THERE IS AN UNDIAGNOSED PROBLEM WITH AS SCRAPING NOISE AS I TURNED A CORNER INTO A PARKING LOT. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, EVERY TIME WE DO SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS TO IT.
CAR WOULD LOSE POWER, BUCK AND SURGE, STALL ON HIGHWAY AND SIDE STREETS. WHEN TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, TECH COULDN'T GIVE EXPLANATION FOR WHAT PARTICLES WERE THAT CLOGGED FUEL PUMP. CHARGED FOR OVER $900. TECH SAID WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER VANDALISM. HOWEVER, MY INSURANCE COMPANY RULED OUT VANDALISM UPON INVESTIGATION TO THE PARTS AND FUEL SAMPLE. BOTTOM LINE, I HAD TO PAY $900 FOR SOMETING THAT AT THE TIME WASN'T RULED A "MODEL" PROBLEM. NOW I THINK I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED. FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, LINES FLUSHED, AND "CONTAMINATED" FUEL TO BE EXPOSED OF. *AK
MY CAR BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS AT 2,500 MILES. I HAVE HAD IT 8 MONTHS AND IT HAS BROKEN DOWN 5 TIMES. THE CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING POSING A SERIOUS RISK OF CRASH, INJURY AND DEATH. THE DEFECT REMAINS UNRESOLVED. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THE CAR IS ABOUT TO GO DEAD OTHER THAN SPUTTERING THEN DEAD. THE CAR HAS AN ERRATIC IDLE, DIES WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, DIES IN PARK, DIES AT STOP SIGNS AND AT RED LIGHTS. I HAVE FILED FORMAL COMPLAINTS TO MY DEALER PRIOR TO FILING HERE. NO ONE WILL HELP ME OR TAKE ME SERIOUSLY. PUT IT LIKE THIS, THE CAR CAN EITHER BE REPURCHASED AND FORD LOSE $17,000 OR ME AND MY CHILD GET KILLED AND MY HUSBAND SUE FORD FOR MILLIONS, AND HE WOULD WIN. I HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND I DON'T WANT HER TO BE HARMED OR MYSELF OR OTHER MOTORIST FOR THAT MATTER. I HAVE HAD MY CAR REPAIRED FOUR TIMES AND THIS TIME MAKES THE FIFTH. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND WILL NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR. I AM CURRENTLY PURSUING ACTION UNDER THE "LEMON LAW" RIGHTS. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH CARS JUST LIKE MINE. MY HEART DROPPED WHEN I SAW SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME AND SAW THAT THEIR PROBLEM WAS GOING UNRESOLVED AS WELL. I PRAY THAT YOU WILL GIVE US ALL HELP. IT IS REDICLOUS THAT SOMEONE HAS TO GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE THE MOTOR COMPANIES WILL ADMIT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT.*AK
WHILE TRYING TO START VEHICLE, ENGINE WOULD START TO TURN OVER AND THEN CUT OFF, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART VEHICLE, A HIGH-PITCHED WHIRRING SOUND WAS HEARD, VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED, DEALER FOUND THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY TO THE FUEL PUMP HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED. *AK *TT
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE INJURED. *AK *SLC
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES VIOLENTLY WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT MORE THAN 55MPH. TOOK TO DEALER WHEN CAR HAD 10K MILES ON IT. DEALER REPLACED FRONT PADS AND MACHINED ROTORS. I ASKED DEALER WHY WERE THE ROTORS NOT REPLACED, WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE FINE. PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER (AT 16K MILES) WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE CAR TO DEALER UNTIL AUGUST. CAR NOW HAS 22K MILES. DEALER ADVISED THAT WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER, PROBABLY ROTORS ARE WARPED. EXPLAINED TO DEALER THAT ROTORS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME THE PADS WERE REPLACED AND DEALER INSISTED THAT THE ROTORS WERE FINE. SUBMITTED THIS SAME INFO TO A LAW FIRM IN CALIFORNIA THAT HAS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN PROGRESS AGAINST FORD FOR FAULTY BRAKES AND/OR INFERIOR MATERIALS USED.*AK
I HAVE REPORTED NUMEROUS PROBLEMS TO YOU WITH THIS LEMON. THE DEALER WAS TOLD WHEN THE CAR HAD 5000 MILES, THAT THERE WAS A BRAKE PROBLEM. SEVERAL EXPERTS HAVE NOTED THAT THERE WAS A FAULTY CALIPER CAUSIING THE BRAKES TO FAIL AND THE TIRES TO CONTINUALLY BLOW OUT, RESULTING IN NUMEROUS ROADSIDE EMERGENCIES. THE DEALER HAS REUSED TO EITHER REPAIR, OR REPLACE THE CAR FROM THE BEGINNING STATING THEY WILL NOT LOSE MONEY AND THAT THE SAME THING HAS NOT OCCURRED OFTEN ENOUGH. THE CAR IS INOPERABLE SINCE THE DEFECTIVE CALIPER, THE ROTORS, AND THE SHOES ARE ALL SEVERELY WORN. THE REPAIR SHOPS STATE THAT THE CAR IS TOO NEW TO GET THE PARTS AND THAT ONLY FORDD CAN GET THE PARTS. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $200 MINIMUM FOR EACH ITEM OF AT LEAST FOUR, SAYING THEY WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN STATING SINCE MY COMPLAINTS BEGAN. I HAVE REPORTED THESE FACTS TO YOU BEFORE, NUMEROUS TIMES, AS WELL AS BY TELEPHONE. I HAVE GOTTEN NO RESULTS. I AM DISABLED AND HAVE SPENT THE LAST WEEK HOME ALONE WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO GET MY MEDICAL CARE, AND OTHER NEEDS. THIS CANNOT GO ON.*AK
VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWICE AT 65 MPH. DEALER HAS REPLACED COMPUTER CHIP AND FUEL PUMP. BOTH TIMES CRUISE WAS ON, BUT NOT SET.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THERE IS A VIBRATION IN VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL AT SPEEDS OVER 55 MPH. VEHICLE SWAYS BACK AND FORTH, ALSO VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. DEALER HAS REPLACED AND BALANCED TIRES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER 6 TIMES COULD NOT REMEDY PROBLEM.*AKTHE SPINDAL WAS STRIPPED AFFECTING BRAKES AND CAUSING VIBRATION AND PULSATION. IT WAS STATED THAT THE SPINDAL APPEARED TO BE DEFECTIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE ENGINE STALLS. *JG

CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION ON THE VEHICLE. ALSO STATED THAT HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURE AND THE HAVE STATED THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT THIS HAS HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED FIVE TIMES INTO THE SHOP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN ON WHICH CAUSES THE OWNER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. *AK *CB
IGNITION CYLINDER ON MY 2001 FORD FOCUS HAS FAILED TWICE AND LEFT ME STRANDED . TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS IS OVER $700. FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND PRODUCT. RECALL IS IN ORDER. *JB

I WAS STOPPED, PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN, ENGINE DIED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAR HAS DONE THIS TWICE TO ME. THE CAR WAS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. *AK

PE 02 020 AIR BAG BURN INJURIES /VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION, AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CHEMICALS FROM THE AIR BAG BURNED DRIVER'S HANDS AND MELTED THROUGH DRIVER'S JACKET. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
OUR SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2001 FORD FOCUS ON A SMALL BACK ROAD NEAR A SHOPPING CENTER. HE WAS DRIVING APPROMIMATELY 20 MPH THRU A SLIGHT CURVE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. AS HE WAS APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN, HE LIGHTLY APPLIED HIS BRAKES AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO NEGOTIATE THE SLIGHT CURVE IN THE ROAD, BUT HIS STEERING HAD FAILED - UNABLE TO NEGOTIATE THE CURVE HIS CAR VEERED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE THEN BACK TO HIT THE CURB. THE IMPACT ACTIVATED THE AIR BAGS, SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD AND THE WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF. IT APPEARS THAT THE CONTROL ARM HAD A COMPLETELY CLEAN BREAK - USUALLY NOT SEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS WAS REPORTED TO ME BY SEVERAL FORD EMPLOYEES AS A "VERY SUSPICIOUS BREAK" AS WELL AS THE TOW DRIVER FROM THE FORD ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. OUR SON ALSO REPORTED TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THAT HE FELT A "SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE FRONT RIGHT END " OF THE 2001 FORD FOCUS. HE PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE CAR- BUT COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG - CONTINUED AND THE VIBRATION HAD CEASED. WE ARE THANKFUL THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS HE USUALLY TRAVELS ON A DAILY BASIS.
WHILE PARKING, VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HIT A BRICK WALL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WEERE NOTIFIED.*AK *SLC
THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR ON THE FLOOR IS SOAKED WITH WATER DRAINAGE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE SUNROOF. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES, AND 3 TIMES THEY HAVE TOLD ME THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CORRECTED. THE LAST TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS 1/7/02. TODAY IS 1/25/02 AND THE PASSENGER SIDE IS SOAKED AGAIN. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THE "WATER DOCTOR" ONLY COMES ON MONDAYS. I AM NOT A MECHANIC BUT I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. PLEASE HELP, I DON'T WANT MY WARRANTY TO RUN OUT BEFORE THEY FIX IT. HELP. *AK

THERE IS A CHEMICAL SMELL COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER, HEATER AND DEFROSTER. I HAVE RETURNED THE CAR TO MATHEWS FORD FOR REPAIR. THE TECHNICIANS SMELLED THE ODOR AND FLUSHED THE SYSTEM OUT ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, BUT THE ODOR RETURNS. I GET VERY POOR GAS MILEGE, THE BRAKES GRIND, SQUEEK, AND THUMP, THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER WINDOWS HAVE A LOUD SQUEEK,THE TRUNK WON'T CLOSE COMPLETLY UNLESS YOU SLAM IT AS HARD AS YOU CAN,

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. THE CAUSE OF THIS WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK
I PURCHASED THIS FORD FOCUS IN MARCH 2001. IN MAY 2001 I WENT BACK TO PHIL LONG FORD BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT PERFORMING PROPERLY. PERIODICALLY I WOULD BE DRIVING ALONG AND THE CAR WOULD ACT AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AT PHIL LONG THAT I SPOKE WITH AT THIS TIME WENT WITH ME FOR A TEST DRIVE IN THIS CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. HE SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE UNLESS THEY COULD EXPERIENCE WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH THE CAR. I TOLD HIM THE CAR WAS SLIPPING, SKIPPING, AND TWICE WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE CAR LOST POWER. HE TOLD ME WHAT I HAD SAID DID NOT MAKE SENSE AND UNLESS THEY COULD EXPERIENCE THIS MALFUNCTION THEY COULD ONLY GUESS IT WAS ONE OF THE COMPUTERS IN THE CAR ADJUSTING FOR A ROAD CONDITION. THIS SERVICE REP DISMISSED ME AS BEING A STUPID WOMAN. TODAY, DECEMBER 31, 2001, I WENT TO MY CAR AT 7:00AM THIS MORING TO GO TO WORK AND WHEN I TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL IT WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. I MANAGED DRIVING AT 2MPH TO PHIL LONG FORD WHERE I SAT FOR 2 1/2 HOURS BEFORE THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS A BROKEN CABLE. I AM SO FURIOUS WITH PHIL LONG FORD I FILED A COMPLAINT VIA E-MAIL WITH FORD MOTOR CO. AS I THOUGHT MORE ABOUT THIS SITUATION THROUGHOUT THE DAY I REALIZED HOW FORTUNATE I WAS THAT THE CABLE BROKE WHILE I WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT WHERE I LIVE. SUPPOSE THIS HAD (AND IT PROBABLY HAS TO OTHERS) OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ALONG. SUPPOSE THIS HAD HAPPENED ONE OF THE TWO TIMES THIS CAR LOST POWER AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG A VERY BUSY ROAD? I WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I THINK FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY LOSING AT LEAST ONE VACATION DAY FOR WORK POSSIBLY TWO OR MORE DAYS BECAUSE PHIL LONG CAN NOT GIVE ME ANY GUARANTEE WHEN THIS CAR WILL BE FIXED BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAY. WHEN ENGINE WAS STARTED AND GEAR SHIFT WAS PUT INTO DRIVE POSITION VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS UNEXPECTEDLY. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM ,AND REPLACED THROTTLE. AFTER DEALERSHIP MADE THESE REPAIRS AND DROVE ON HIGHWAY BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE WHEN PRESSURE WAS PUT ON BRAKE PEDAL. DRIVER FOR TOW TRUCK EXAMINED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID IN THE VEHICLE (THIS DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP. *AK PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.

UPPER INTERIOR MOLDING IS BULGING ALONG WINDSHIELD . DEALER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
THIS CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK FOR BRAKE FAILUES MULTIPLE TIMES. EACH TIME THE DEALER INFORMS ME THAT A SWITCH HAS FAILED AND MY BRAKES ARE JUST FINE. I HAVE BLOWN THROUGH LIGHTS GOING 45+ MILES AN HOUR. THE DEALER HAS FAILED TO EVEN INSPECT THE BRAKE SYSTEM FOR ANY FAILURES.
2001 FORD FOCUS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT BRAKES, FUEL PUMP, BATTERY, SWAY BARS AND TIRES. *MR THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES FIVE TIMES, THE RADIATOR WENT OUT, THE THERMOSTAT AND SENSORS PERTAINING TO THE ENGINE LIGHT AD GONE OUT, THE FUEL PUMP AND THE BATTERY WENT OUT AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. CURRENTLY THE STARTER SHOWED SIGNS OF GOING OUT AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED SWAY BARS AND 4 TIRES. *SC

THREE TIMES I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE STICK EVEN THOUGH I HAVE LET OFF THE GAS. ONCE WHEN I HAD LESS THAN 5,000 AND AGAIN AT THE END OF LAST YEAR. DEALER AND FORD DID NOTHING TO TRY TO CORRECT THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THE FRONT BRAKES, AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT MY OWN EXPENSE. *AK
REPLACEMENT OF BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT LOW MILAGE. SYMPTOMS SUCH AS BRAKE SQUEAL AND STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO ROTOR WARPAGE WITH LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON THE CAR. ONE WEEK AFTER REPAIRS THE SAME PROBLEMS ARE ONCE AGAIN PRESENT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT UNABLE TO SEE AS A RESULT OF HEADLIGHTS NOT BEING BRIGHT ENOUGH, THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD LIGHT ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE CANNOT BE ADJUSTED, ALSO THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, AT TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE RESTARTED BEFORE THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED, INTERMITTENTLY THE TRUNK WILL NOT OPEN ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. *AK *NLM

I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THEY HAVE TOLD ME " THEY HAVE NO REPAIR PROCEDURE" AT THIS TIME. THE WASHER TANK VENT IS LOCATED SUCH THAT IT ALLOWS UP TO 3 QUARTS OF FLUID TO DRAIN OUT OF THE TANK. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR TO COLEMAN FORD TWICE AND THEY DID REPLACE THE TANK AND CHECK THE SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE TANK VENT ISSUE IS CORRECTED IS WHAT I WAS TOLD AT COLEMAN FORD.*AK
