I'M STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SE. 3 DAYS AFTER BUYING IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SAID CATALYST COVERTER IS PLUGGED UP. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MISSING UP. IT HAS NEVER ONE TIME PASSED THE EMISSIONS CONTROL TEST SINCE OWNING IT. THERE ISN'T A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT THIS CAR HASN'T THROW ME A DIFFERENT CODE FROM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I GOT SCREWED. THE CAR ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE IDK HOW MANY TIME MY DAUGHTER AND I HAVE ALMOST GOT HIT BECAUSE OF THE CAR NOT MOVING WHEN GIVING THE GAS TOO IT. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET ALL MY RECALLS DONE AND THEY ONLY DID 1 RECALL AND THAT WAS THE TCM. THEY SAID THAT WOULD FIX THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IM HAVING. WHAT LIES
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS REPEATEDLY BEEN IN FOR SERVICE DO THE THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AS WELL THE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE, IT HAS SEEN 2 NEW CLUTCHES AS WELL AS 2 TCMS. OVER THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE IT HAS HAD 5 CLUTCH REPLACEMENTS AND 3 TCM REPLACEMENTS. THANKFULLY, THE TRANSMISSION HAS NOT FAILED ON ME YET. THIS CAR IS VERY UNRELIABLE AND GIVES ME CONSTANT HEADACHES. MY CAR DEALER IS ABOUT 30 MINUTES AWAY AND EVERY TIME I GO THEIR FOR THEM TO TEST MY TRANSMISSION, IT ALWAYS FAILS. ITS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT I DO, THE CAR ALWAYS WILL SHUDDER. MY 14MO1 WARRANTY HAS NOW RUN OUT SO EVENTUALLY WHEN I NEED A NEW CLUTCH IT WILL COST ME ROUGHLY $2,500. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES AND NOW I AM FILING FOR ARBITRATION. THIS CAR IS NOTHING BUT A DEATH TRAP.
INTERMITTENT, NOW CONSTANT EPAS (ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING) FAILURE. MY 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WENT TO EAT WITH FRIENDS AFTER WORK AND WHEN SHE TRIED TO LEAVE TO COME HOME (AFTER MIDNIGHT), SHE FOUND THAT THE EPAS HAD FAILED. SHE DID MANAGE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME SINCE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, AND LUCKILY, THE EPAS DID NOT FAIL WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. WITHOUT THE EPAS WORKING, THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHILE STATIONARY.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle failed to properly shift gear with the transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the clutch assembly and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the warranty on the vehicle had expired. The failure mileage was 160,000.
CAR SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING. LOSES POWER ON FREEWAY AND THEN SUDDENLY SHIFTS AND TAKES OFF. IT IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE IN ITS CURRENT STATE
FIRST OFF, WHEN ACCELERATING, EVEN AFTER THE TRANSMISSION RECALLS WERE "FIXED", WE STILL HAVE VERY BAD JERKING AND SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING. SOMETIMES IT SOUNDS LIKE A GRINDING SOUND. SECONDLY, THERE IS A CLANKING SOUND THAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DRIVE OVER VERY SMALL BUMPS. IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL HITTING METAL IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE TRUNK THAT COULD BE MAKING THAT NOISE, AND IS HEARD OUTSIDE OF THE CAR ALSO. PROBLEM CANNOT BE LOCATED BY MECHANICS OR MYSELF.
MY CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHENEVER I MAKE TURNS. IT SHAKES AND HAS TROUBLE GOING FORWARD WHENEVER I DRIVE AFTER A STOP LIGHT TURNS GREEN. THESE THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN.
WHILE ROUNDING A TURN GOING UP HILL MY CAR STARTED SHIMMYING, AND STUDDERING. AT THAT POINT I AM LOSING POWER. WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC IT IS ALSO DOING IT. I AM AFRAID IT'S GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
MY CAR IS SHUDDERING WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE
THE DOOR LATCH SUDDENLY STOPED WORKING, PRIOR INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT THE SPRING INSIDE WENT BUSTED SINCE THE CABLE WAS ATTACHED TO THE MECHANISM AND IT DIDN'T RESPOND AS IT WOULD NORMALLY DO. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY APARTMENT AFTER WORKING JUST FINE DURING THE TRIP FROM MY HOMETOWN.
HAD A RECALL ON IT FOR PROGRAM OF TCM HAD IT DONE AND ALMOST DIDN'T MAKE IT BACK HOME NOW IT WONT BACKUP AT ALL OR GO FORWARD GOOD ALL SO WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE DUAL CLUTCH JUST GOT NOTICE BUT WAS TOLD CAR HAD TO MANY MILES AND TO OLD NOW
I HAD JUST PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND THE STEERING ASSIST CAME UP AS A MALFUNCTION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE. THROUGH AN INTERNET SEARCH I HAVE FOUND THIS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH VERY HIGH REPAIR COSTS THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING. WAS GOING ABOUT 45MPH WHEN IT INITIALLY HAPPENED. LUCKILY WAS ONLY A SHORT DISTANCE FROM HOME WHEN THIS OCCURRED. NO DAMAGE TO CAR OR INJURY RESULTED FROM THIS INCIDENT.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON - DIAGNOSED AS TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE CODE (P0908) IS NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE IS SHOWING ALL SYMPTOMS/BEHAVIOR WHICH IF THE CODE WAS P0606, REPLACEMENT WOULD BE COVERED. IF THE TCM IS BAD, IT'S BAD AND FORD SHOULD OFFER CONSIDERATION - CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE!
DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS IN THE CITY I LIVE IN, MY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OUT. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT MY ENGINE HAD STALLED, BUT THEN I REALIZED THE MOTOR WAS STILL ON. MY FORD FOCUS SUDDENLY LOST IT POWER STEERING FUNCTION WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. (VERY SCARY) AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS DISPLAYING (STEERING ASSIST). I DROVE HOME TO SEE IF I COULD READ UP IN THE INTERNET TO SEE IF I COULD SELF DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM. SOME VIDEO INDICATED IT WAS A FUSE. (OTHERS INDICATED COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE) I CHECKED MY FUSES IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE STEERING. THERE ARE OKAY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED AUTO MECHANIC SHOP TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP ME. THEY COULD NOT, IN FACT THEY WERE CAUGHT AT SURPRISE THAT THIS WAS A NON-FLUID STEERING SYSTEM.(NO OIL REQUIRED) THEY RECOMMENDED I GO TO ANOTHER SHOP, BUT THE RESULTS WERE THE SAME. THE DIAGNOSIS IS REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK & PINION SYSTEM. ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD FOCUS AND FORD FUSION AS WELL AS LINCOLN'S. IF THIS IS IN FACT AN ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CAN NOT PROVIDE ANY PHOTOS BECAUSE THE ISSUE IS INTERNAL, UNDER THE VEHICLE.
THE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE UNLOCKED POSITION AND WILL LEAVE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN WITH NO WAY OF CLOSING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. GENGRAS FORD (225 NEW BRITAIN AVE, PLAINVILLE, CT 06062, (860)793-8885) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,091.
THE CAR USES TWO PART LUGS THAT SWELL AND DEGRADE OVER TIME, AND SOME POINT, CANNOT BE USED TO HOLD ON A WHEEL THAT HAS BEEN REMOVED. THAT CAN BE A HAZARD, FOR EXAMPLE, IF A PERSON NEEDS TO REPLACE A FLAT TIRE ON A HIGHWAY AND THEN CANNOT REATTACH THE LUG NUTS. I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE LUG NUTS FOR SAFETY REASONS, AND WHILE I COULD FIND ONES THAT FIT THE POST THEY SCREW ON TO, THEY WERE NOR WIDE ENOUGH TO HOLD THE WHEEL COVER.
MY CAR JERKS AND SHIFTS HARD IN GEARS IN REVERSE IT PULSATES TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE CLUTCH ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIPS STATES THAT IT IS A RECALL BUT MY CAR DONT FALL UNDER IT CAUSE I HAVE 123K MILES. I JUST GOT THE CAR LOOKED UP THE RECALL AND ON SOME FORD WEBSITE IT SAY EXTENDED WARRANTY UNTIL 150K
MY CAR STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE THEN IT BEGAN TO JERK NOW IT WON'T GO INTO REVERSE. TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME IN I CAN'T DRIVE IT.
STEERING ASSIST FAULT FAILURE. WHEEL WILL NOT WORK THE WHEEL IS EXTREMELY HARD TO MOVE. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN MY PARKING LOT AT HOME, BUT WILL NOT WORK. IT HAS DONE THIS WHILE ON A HIGHWAY AS WELL, THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT OR FAILURE CAME ON AND I HAD ALL I COULD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THE WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO MOVE. USED CAR DEALER DID NOT INFORM ME OF THIS ISSUE WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN FEBRUARY 2020.
POWER STEERING RACK GONE BAD AT 89,000 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH ON A NARROW WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD WHEN THE CAR SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND DISPLAYED THE "TRANSMISSION PROBLEM SERVICE NO" MESSAGE. I COASTED TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER. MOVING THE SNIFTER DID NOT GET BACK IN GEAR. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. I THEN HAD CONTROL OF THE CAR BUT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO INTO HIGH GEAR. IT WOULD GO NEUTRAL TO FIRST WITH A JERK, THEN SHIFT SMOOTHLY INTO 2ND BUT NOT SHIFT INTO HIGH GEAR AT ALL. I DROVE IT HOME AT 3300 RPM AT 55 MPH. THE CAR ONLY HAS 40000 MILES ON IT. HAD I BEEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THIS OCCURRED I WOULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. LIKE RALF NADER SAID ABOUT THE CORVAIR.... "UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED". I HAVE READ THE HORROR STORY OF THIS CAR AND YOUR LACK OF ACTION. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! WOULD YOU LET YOU LOVED ONES DRIVE THIS CAR? I THINK NOT. IT DESERVES A TOTAL RECALL AND BUYBACK FROM FORD. PLEASE DO YOUR DUTY AND MAKE IT HAPPEN. PS, I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR SLOW SPEED SHIFTING ISSUES WHICH RESULTED IN "REPROGRAMMING" TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WHICH OF COURSE IT DIDN'T.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FOCUS SELI I RECENTLY WENT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET MY PURGE VALVE REPLACE BECAUSE I SEEN ONLINE THAT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAD PLACED A RECALL ON IT BECAUSE OF THE PURGE VALVE IS BECOMING 40S I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND I TRIED TO GO TO FORD TO GET IT FIXED THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE IT WAS ALREADY FIXED THEY CAN'T FIX THE ISSUE AGAIN NO I ONLY HAVE THE CAR FOR ONLY NINE MONTHS AND WITHIN THE NINE MONTHS IS BECAME A BECAME FAULTY. I NEED FOR TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THEIR DEFECTIVE DEVICE IS THAT THEY FAIL TO BUILD PROPERLY

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
IN THE SUMMER OF 2019 MY AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED BEING COOL. I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE AIR CONDITION AS IT HAD A HOLE IN IT. THEN IN JULY 2020 MY TRANSMISSION JUST DIED. IT STARTED TO SLIP AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE THING. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEY WAY IT SHIFTED. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. IT'S A NEW KIND OF TRANSMISSION THEY SAID. I PUT UP WITH IT ALL THE TIME, THINKING I COULDN'T FIX IT. NOT THAT I'VE REPLACED IT AT 69K MILES, I REALIZED THAT'S NOT RIGHT.

MY WIFE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2020, SHE HAS BEEN HAVING FUEL SYSTEM ENGINE LIGHT CODES COMING ON P0456 AND P1450 L KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL IN RELATION TO THIS AND L UNDERSTAND THE PREVIOUS VEHICLE OWNER HAD THE RECALL DONE ON JUNE 14, 2019 A YEAR AGO, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE CARE OF IT, IT IS NOT NORMAL TO HAVE THE ISSUE COME BACK AFTER ONE YEAR FROM TAKING CARE OF IT. I AM ASKING THE NHTSA TO ASSIST ON THIS. THANK YOU

ENTIRE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'VE LOST POWER STEERING MULTIPLE TIMES ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION AND NOW CANNOT CUT THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT WITH LOSING POWER STEERING.
SATURDAY MORNING WENT TO THE STORE. GOT BACK IN MY CAR TURN THE CAR ON PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING WILL GOT HARD TO TURN. I CHECK MY DASH AND IT SAID STEERING MALFUNCTION NEED ASSISTANCE. PUT THE CAR BACK IN DRIVE AND PUT THE CAR BACK IN THE PARKING SPOT. TURN THE CAR OFF TURN IT BACK ON THE STEERING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. PULL OUT OF THE PARK SPOT AND AS I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL THE STEERING MALFUNCTION NEED ASSISTANCE WENT BACK ON. AM CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER AS WELL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AROUND 6PM AND TAKING AN ON RAMP ONTO ANOTHER FREEWAY THE FORD FOCUS STALLED MID-DRIVE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ANYMORE OR SWITCH TO HIGHER GEARS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED. THE FORD IMMEDIATELY COULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN FIRST GEAR AND LUCKILY WE AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT BY PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY ON RAMP INTO THE VEGETATION SINCE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER. THERE WAS NO NOISE OR INDICATION THAT SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AT AROUND 50MPH. IT WOULD NOT DRIVE BACKWARDS WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE AND WOULD REV UP TO EXTREMELY HIGH RPM WHEN THE DRIVER TRIED TO MOVE FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. TOWED THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT CAME BACK WITH 5 ERROR CODES INCLUDING: P0805, P087A, P2831, P2836, AND P2861. A PIN POINT TEST WAS PERFORMED AND FOUND THAT THE VOLTAGE WAS AT A CONSISTENT 5 VOLTS, SO THEY CLEARED THE CODES AND TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST DRIVE AND IT WAS FINE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 79,000 MILES. ATTACHED WILL BE THE MECHANICS FORM ALONG WITH WHAT THEY SAID ARE SEVERAL CODES FOR RELATED RECALLS THAT WERE SUPPOSEDLY ALREADY FIXED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WRAY FORD (2851 BENTON RD, BOSSIER CITY, LA 71111, (318) 686-7300) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PURGE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THAT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A DISCREPANCY WITH REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN RECALL AND THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST STEERING TOTAL FAILURE. NEEDED TO REPLACE ENTIRE STEERING RACK. VEHICLE WAS FORTUNATELY STATIONARY AT THE TIME. FAULT WAS FOUND TO BE IN THE MODULE UNIT. VEHICLE BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND WOULD BE UNSAFE IF IT OCCURRED WHILE IN MOTION. *TR
It was a fateful day on June 16th, 2020 when our lives took an unexpected turn. Engaged in a peaceful drive, cruising at a steady 60mph with the assistance of the trusty cruise control, we were abruptly jolted towards the left, instantly relinquishing any grasp of control we had over our vehicle causing us to loose control and wreck our car in a corn field. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM FOR THIS CAR . THE RECALL WORK HAS BEEN DONE , AFTER MUCH PROBLEMS WITH FUEL CONSUMPTION AND STALLING ON THE ROAD . THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED A SIDE PROBLEM , THAT OF THE PLUGGING OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER . THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NOW NEEDS REPLACED . *TR
THE CAR HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SOMETHING EVERY COMMON IN THIS MAKE. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST GET IN SOME ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE SKID CREATED BY THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE CAR IS VERY JUMPY AND WILL SKID WHEN THE TRANSMISSION ACTS UP. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, ON THE MOVE OR WHEN I START TO MOVE AFTER BEING STATIONARY FOR A FEW MOMENTS.

BOUGHT THE CAR USED AT A PRIVATE DEALER AND ONLY HAD IT A FEW DAYS AND CAR STARTED JERKING THEN JUST STOP WOULDN'T GO IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. TOOK IT TO WAYNE COUNTY FORD THEY WHERE NASTY SO I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND THERE'S A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION AND A LAW SUIET THAT WAS WON. NO WARRENTY BUT IT'S A RECALL THAT THEY NEED TO FIX. WHEN CAR JUST STOPS IN DANGER OF GETTING HIT BY OTHER VEHICAL CAUSE IT WILL NOT MOVE. CAN NOT EVEN ASSELORATE IT DIES RIGHT DOWN. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION PLACE AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED NEW TRANSMISSION. IT'S LISTED WHEN U LOOK UP THROUGH FORD THERE'S A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION.
POWER STEERING FAULT AT START UP WOULD APPEAR THEN GO AWAY BUT NOW VEHICLE NO LONGER HAS POWER STEERING AT ALL. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORD CARS OF THE SAME DATE RANGE (FUSION, FLEX LINCOLN MKS & MKT, MKZ, MERCURY MILAN)
Upon accelerating the car vibrates and hesitates. I was almost hit entering an interstate due to this hesitation. It "feels" like it is slipping. I did return it to the place of purchase and they sent it to a Ford dealership. The used car lot indicated that Ford did a computer reset. It seemed better for a short bit, long enough for the computer to "relearn" driving habits and it began again, only worse this time.
Vehicle would shake and completely shut down whenever I would stop at a red light or stop sign. It put myself and others drivers at risk because the vehicle would shut down on extremely busy roads, this happened on multiple occasions. There was an inspection by a service center but at the time I didn't have the funds to pay for it.

ROGERS FORD (4200 W WALL ST, MIDLAND, TX 79703) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR FAILED TO LATCH SECURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER AND REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE STEERING ASSIST FAILURE HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS WHEN I START MY CAR AND I CANNOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND START IT AGAIN. THERE IS A RECALL #15S18 FOR 2012 FORD FOCUS BUT FORD IS TELLING ME MY 2012 FORD FOCUS DOES NOT FALL UNDER THIS RECALL. WHY? ITS THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. *TR
HAD REPLACED PART OF THE TRANSMISSION THE MODULE. BUT NOW MY CAR HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES AGAIN. *TR
STEERING ASSIST MESSAGE POPPED UP AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AT THE SAME TIME. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON THE STREET. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AND SHAKES VERY FREQUENTLY. VEHICLE ALSO PERIODICALLY WILL ALMOST STALL WHILE DRIVING. OVERALL THE VEHICLE JUST FEELS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE WHILE OPERATING. *TR
Transmission does engage and slips. Eventually transmission warning light comes stating transmission is overheated. After you pull over for several minutes to let it cool down then trying to restart the car is very difficult. Pulling out into the road car is not safe. Transmission slips and will not engage making yourself a target to get hit by another car. Called Ford customer service at the advice of several service advisers because I was told that Ford had put out faulty transmissionson on the Focus and Fiesta"s. So I called Ford and I was told there is nothing Ford will do about this situation. I sent Ford a certified letter requesting for help to fix transmission, I was turned down. I called Ohio state Attorneys General Office, after communication was made Ford stated they will not repair vehicle. That the time given had passed and they will do nothing to repair thier bad transmission issue. The Attorneys Gennerals office told to file a complaint with you NHTSA.
CURRENT RECALL FOR 14M01 AND 14M02 BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATES THAT THE FACTORY MILEAGE LIMITATIONS FOR THE PROGRAM IS 10YR 150,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE IS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. IT HAS BEEN THE DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME CLUTCH ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONS, THIS WILL BE THE 4TH TIME THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED, RECALIBRATED AND REPROGRAMMED. IT HAS BEEN FIXED TWICE UNDER THIS RECALL ONCE SINCE I HAVE FINANCED THE VEHICLE. NOW THE SAME MANUFACTURER ISSUE HAS ARISEN AND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT, BUT I DO NOT QUALIFY ANYMORE DUE TO MILEAGE OF 163,000 PLUS MILEAGE. I CANNOT SEE HOW A FACTORY DEFECT IS NOT COVERED OR VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR RECURRENT ISSUES THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED TO DEAL WITH. PEOPLE WHO USE THESE VEHICLES EVERY DAY WILL PUT MILES UPON THE VEHICLE, BUT WITH THE MILEAGE LIMITATIONS OF THE RECALL. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE OWNERS WHO EXCEED THE MILEAGE LIMITATIONS AND WHO ARE STILL IN NEED OF A VEHICLE. WITH THE VEHICLE AS IS, TRADE IN VALUE IS OUT RIGHT IS CLOSER TO $0. WHAT IS THE FIX? I CANNOT KEEP PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT WILL EVENTUALLY BREAKDOWN. *TR
