DRIVING TO GET THE MAIL.OUR MAIL BOX IS AT THE END OF OUR ROAD ABOUT HALF A MILE FROM THE HOUSE. THERE IS A DRAINAGE DITCH THAT MUST BE CROSSED PARALLEL TOO THE ROAD THAT HAS THE MAIL BOXES ON IT. THIS IS A T INTERSECTION. JUST BEFORE THE DITCH THE CAR SLOWED SO I PRESSED THE THROTTLE TO REGAIN SPEED AND NOTHING HAPPENED I PRESSED THE THROTTLE AGAIN AND IT ACTED AS IF IT HAD BEEN FLOORED AND DID NOT RETURN. THE CAR SPED UP AND WENT INTO THE DITCH EVEN THOUGH I WAS PUSHING ON THE BREAK.IT FLEW OUT OF THE DITCH AND THROUGH THE MAIL BOXES, TAKING OUT THREE BOXES AND TRAPPING ME IN THE CAR WITH BOXES ON EACH SIDE PREVENTING THE DOORS FROM OPENING. THE CAR RECEIVED A LOT OF BODY DAMAGE AND HAD TO GO TO THE SHOP. *JS
STEERING SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILED. DRIVER COULD NOT TURN CAR TO THE RIGHT. CAR HAS ONLY 45,000 MILES. COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF OPERATING AT HIGHER SPEED. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO FORD THEY TOLD ME THE "STEERING RACK" WAS ON BACK ORDER, WHICH LEADS ONE TO BELIEVE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE! FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE IT LEADS TO DEATH. *JS
STEERING HAS BECOME UNRELIABLE AND HAS "GONE OUT" TWO TIMES IN THE PAST THREE DAYS. ONCE AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED AND ANOTHER AT A LOWER RATE OF SPEED. MY HUSBAND HAS HAD TO USE EXTREME EXCESSIVE FORCE (HE IS QUITE STRONG TOO) IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE CAR WHERE HE WANTS IT TO GO. THE LIGHT CAME ON AND HE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AND THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON THE DASHBOARD. TO ADD, THE CAR IS UP TO DATE ON ALL SERVICES NEEDED AND IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. *JS
I HAVE TAKEN MY FORD FOCUS TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES TO INFORM THEM ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. AT FIRST THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM IT AND THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BUT IT DIDN'T. I TOOK A SECOND TIME AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME. ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 29 2014 I WAS PARKED AT AN INCLINE AT A FURNITURE STORE WHEN I PUT MY VEHICLE IN REVERSE IT WENT BUT WHEN I TRIED TO ENGAGE THE DRIVE IT JUST KEPT GOING BACK. I BACKED UP INTO A FORD F-150 THAT WAS IN THE BACK. FORTUNATELY NOTHING HAPPENED TO THE FORD F-150 AND THE GENTLEMAN DID NOT WANT TO FILE A REPORT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP ON DECEMBER 27,2014. THEY DID NOT INSPECT MY VEHICLE UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2014. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME TO INFORM ME THAT IT WOULD NOT BE READY FOR ANOTHER 3 TO 4 WEEKS UNTIL THE CLUTCH FOR THE TRANSMISSION CAME IN. I MADE IT VERY CLEAR TO HIM THAT I WOULD NOT BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THAT CONDITION. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JANUARY 2,2015 THAT IS WHEN THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD BE READY THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD NOT BE READY UNTIL JANUARY 5,2015. NOW I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS DAMAGED FROM THE REAR PASSENGER QUARTER PANEL AND THE LIGHTS ARE CRACKED BUT NO ONE WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL AND SHIFTED BACK INTO DRIVE INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN NOVEMBER OR 2014. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING THERE WAS THIS A LOUD BOOM WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. AFTER THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHUTTER SO BAD THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVE-ABLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TESTED AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE WORST SHUTTERING THEY HAD EVER RECORDED. THEY TOLD ME FORD WOULD FIX IT FOR FREE BUT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. I WAITED FOR OVER 2 MONTHS AND THEY FINALLY HAD THE PART. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE FIXED IT DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT 7500 MILES AND THEN THE SHUTTERING STARTED TO OCCUR AGAIN LIGHTLY AT FIRST BUT SLOWLY INCREASING. I AM NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND STUCK IN A LOAN WITH A CAR THAT DOESN'T DRIVE LIKE IT SHOULD. I HAVE OWNED MANY FORDS IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD A SINGLE ISSUE UNTIL NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD ABNORMAL SOUND, THE TRANSMISSION SPUN, AND THE WHEELS DID NOT ENGAGE. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE HAD TO BE UPDATED. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,419.
IN OCTOBER 2014 THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT ON 11.19.14. ON THE DAY PRIOR TO SAID APPOINTMENT, ROY O'BRIEN FORD CANCELED MY APPOINTMENT STATING THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I HAVE NOW BEEN CALLING BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR EIGHT MONTHS ATTEMPTING TO HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED. I ALSO FILED A CASE NUMBER WITH FORD ON 01.13.15 - #CAS5815506. TO THIS DATE NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I FINALLY CALLED FORD AGAIN ON 5.11.15 AND WAS TOLD, BY PATRICIA - A 2ND LEVEL CUSTOMER SERVICE REP" THAT IT'S "NOT REALLY A RECALL". TAKE YOUR CAR IN TO SEE "IF" IT NEEDS SERVICE. WELL, I CAN'T VERY WELL DO THAT WHEN THE DEALERSHIP WON'T RESCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THIS IS VEHICLE HAS DANGEROUS POTENTIAL TO STOP RUNNING AT ANY MOMENT. THESE MODELS WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES SHOULD NEVER BE SOLD.
SECOND PROBLEM WAS AT 45,000 MILES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) MALFUNCTIONED. THE CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE RIDING DOWN THE ROAD AND LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK AND WAS STUCK IN DRIVE. I COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT OR ATTEMPT TO CRANK IT BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN DRIVE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO GET IT TOWED AND THEY WOULD NOT TOW THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WOULD BE AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THEY COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE TCM MODULE AND I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK AFTER 4 WEEKS.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM A VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER WITH A CAR THAT I HAD PURCHASED FROM YOUR COMPANY. THE CAR IS NOT RELIABLE WHAT SO EVER AND I CAN'T TRUST IT WITH ANYTHING! I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED THE NEWER MODEL FOCUS AND WHEN I FINALLY HAVE THE MONEY TO AFFORD ONE I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY ISSUES WITH A CAR AND THIS IS ONE OF THE NEWEST CARS I HAVE YET BOUGHT. I HAVE MISSED 8 DAYS OF WORK THIS YEAR JUST BECAUSE THE CAR HAS ITS OWN GAMES TO PLAY.THE CAR HAS ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE A FEW TIMES DUE TO THE JERKING ON THE ENGINE THAT YOU GUYS FEEL IS NORMAL. WHEN I GO TO MAKE A TURN THE CAR JERKS SO MUCH SOMETIMES THAT IT'S JUST MAKES IT BEFORE I GET SMASHED. THIS CAR IS HORRIBLE AND I THINK THAT IT IS SO WRONG THAT THERE IS SO MUCH WRONG WITH THIS CAR YET YOU STILL KEEP IT ON THE MARKET. ONE DAY THIS CAR IS NOT GOING TO GO WHEN I PUSH THE GAS AND I WILL GET SERIOUSLY INJURED. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO SERVICE MANY TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY SIMPLY SAY? ?WELL JUST PUSH THE GAS A LITTLE HARDER? I'M SORRY MAYBE THE CAR SHOULD SIMPLY GO CONSIDERING ITS MAIN FUNCTION IS TO DRIVE!!! THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DISAPPOINTING, NONFUNCTIONAL, AND DEPRECIATIVE VEHICLE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT IN MY LIFE. I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN IF SOMETHING CANNOT BE DONE. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH, INSTEAD OF ME SAVING FOR COLLEGE I NOW GET TO SAVE UP TO BUY ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I WAS WRONG ABOUT THIS CAR BEING DEPENDABLE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE HARDSHIP YOUR POOR MANUFACTURING HAS CAUSED ME AND MY WALLET. I REALLY SO HOPE SOMEONE CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IF NOT YOU WILL SURELY BE LOSING A CUSTOMER ALONG WITH ME POSTING THIS TO SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE MONTHS TO COME IF SOMETHING IS NOT RESOLVED. I WAS DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY EXPRESSWAY AND MY CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. THE CAR NOW HAS NO POWER. IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO. I RECEIVED A "COURTESY FIX" NOTICE FROM FORD FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED. THE PROBLEM THAT I HAD IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION IN THESE CARS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY CAR COULD NOT BE REPAIRED FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS AS THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. I COMMUTE 90+ MILES PER DAY AND I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR AND FEEL SAFE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING INCREASING HESITATING AND SHUDDERING FROM MY TRANSMISSION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. AT TIMES, I HAVE EXPERIENCED HIGH ENGINE REVS WITH VERY LITTLE POWER TO THE WHEELS. I CAN NO LONGER RELY ON THE TRANSMISSION TO DELIVER THE ENGINE POWER TO THE WHEELS WHEN I NEED IT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE I'VE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THIS PRESENTS A VERY REAL SAFETY HAZARD TO THE DRIVER. I WENT TO MY DEALERSHIP IN RESPONSE TO THE LETTER FROM FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE ON NATIONAL BACK-ORDER. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND WOULD NEED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE UNTIL PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE PARKED THE CAR AND HAVE MADE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS UNTIL I CAN GET IT SERVICED. FORD MUST OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND ISSUE A FACTORY RECALL. *TR

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BRUISED SHOULDER, BACK, AND INTERNAL INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PURGE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX, AND THE STEERING GEAR BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY OR EXPLODED SENDING YELLOW GAS INTO THE AIR ON IMPACT OF WRECK AS [XXX] WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSE OF VEHICLE [XXX] HOSPITALIZED. DAMAGE TO HIS NECK SMASHED SHOULDER. HE HAS PICTURES AND DOCUMENTATION OF INJURY, POLICE RECORDS AND HOSPITAL RECORDS. HORN STOPPED WORKING CHECKED FUSES AND RELAYS WHICH ALL WORK BUT AFTER READING THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN THAT THE WIRING IN THE CAR CAUSES A PROBLEM WITH THE HORN BECOMING INOPERATIVE. THIS IS A WIDER PROBLEM AND WISH TO HAVE FORD ISSUE A RECALL. I HAVE HAD ISSUES NOT BEING ABLE TO WARN PEOPLE DRIFTING OR NOT PAYING ATTENTION WITH NO WAY TO WARN THEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, A DEER JUMPED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING A CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WHEN I TURN ON THE INTERIOR HEATER, THE SELECTOR SWITCH THAT DIRECTS THE AIR TO WINDSHIELD, PANEL, OR FLOOR, WILL NOT SEND HEATED AIR TO THE FLOOR. IT MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE OF AIR BEING FORCED THROUGH A TIGHT OPENING, BUT THE HEAT DOES NOT GO TO THE FLOOR AND THE HEATER IS ALMOST COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE UNLESS THE FAN SPEED IS SET TO THE HIGHEST SETTING. *JS

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING THE SAME FAILURE SPECIFIED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V149000 (VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR GOING INTO A TURN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AND YOU STOP THE CAR STALLS. YOU CAN START THE CAR GO TO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO AND WHEN YOU GET BACK IN THE CAR IT DOESN'T START. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND THE CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND RESTARTED THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING WORKED NORMALLY AGAIN. IT IS BEING CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP TODAY. ON THE PHONE, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM IF IT WASN'T STILL HAPPENING. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
WHEN DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS AND SPUTTERS BEEN IN FORD AUTO CENTERS MANY TIMES AND WHEN I CALL ALL I AM TOLD US THIS IS NORMAL. *TR
THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST AND HAD TO MANUALLY FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL TO REGAIN CONTROL. ERROR MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE DASH, POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES NOW, TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK 12/26/14. *TR
LEAK FROM RADIATOR FOUND AFTER CAR COOLED DOWN. DEALER STATED THEY NEVER SAW THIS OR HEARD OF IT. THE PRESSURE TEST WAS NEGATIVE, HELD PRESSURE AT 22PSI, I WAS TOLD. FILLED RESERVOIR WITH FLUID AND DYE AND TOLD TO DRIVE AND RETURN NEXT DAY. SAID THE DYE SHOWED LEAK ON LEFT SIDE ON RADIATOR ALONG THE TUBE. TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. SAID FAILURE IS NOT COMMON. VEHICLE HAD ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE COMPLETED AT THE DEALER. *TR
2012 FORD FOCUS DANGEROUSLY STALL WHILE DRIVING AS WELL AS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR ON AN INCLINE *CW THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. *JB

WAS DRIVING CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND IT STARTED SHAKING BADLY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 30 MPH. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP UNDER WARRANTY AND RECALL NOTICE. SOFTWARE WAS AGAIN UPDATED. WE WERE TOLD TO DRIVE IT AND BASICALLY HOPE FOR THE BEST. IF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN TO TAKE IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. CAR STILL SHUDDERED FROM STOP WHILE ACCELERATING. 1 WEEK LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR WON'T GO OVER 30 MPH. GOT THE CAR HOME AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE IN REVERSE. CALLED DEALERSHIP. CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. WILL MOST LIKELY BE WITHOUT CAR FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER WEEK. THIS WILL MAKE AROUND 2 WEEKS TOTAL IN PAST MONTH WITHOUT CAR. FORD'S WARRANTY IS NOW 150K MILES ON TCM BUT ONLY 100K MILES ON CLUTCH WITH TCM IS TEARING UP. FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE RUNS OUT AT 60K MILES. FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THESE CARS, AND KNOWS THEY WILL BREAK DOWN, NOT IF THEY WILL, BUT WHEN THEY WILL BREAK DOWN IS THE QUESTION. THEY MAKE THE CONSUMER DEAL WITH ALL HEADACHES OF NOT HAVING A CAR AND GETTING IT TO THE SHOP. CONSISTENT OIL LEAK; TRANSMISSION LAGGING ON SHIFTS WHEN STARTING OUT FROM STOPS; TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY
ON THE WAY HOME GOING ALONG THE INTERSTATE AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH, THE STEERING SUDDENLY CUT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. WE SAFELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE IN WHICH A LIGHT POPPED UP IN MY DASH WHICH SAID STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN STARTED IT BACK AGAIN IN HOPES THAT IT WAS JUST A GLITCH, BUT THE ERROR WAS STILL THERE. BY THE GRACE OF GOD, WE MADE IT HOME SAFELY. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, I CALLED THE CORPORATE CUSTOMER RELATIONS NUMBER AT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE WHO TOLD ME THAT YES THERE ARE RECALLS ON FOCUSES OF THE SAME YEAR FOR STEERING LOSS, BUT MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT FALL UNDER THAT RECALL BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT MADE AT THE SAME MANUFACTURING LOCATION. HE BASICALLY ADVISED ME THAT I NEED TO CALL MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HAVE MY CAR SENT THERE FOR REPAIR. I THEN RECEIVED THE ACTION PLAN FROM THE SUPERVISOR AT FORD IN WHICH IT DISCUSSED THE RESULTS FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. ALL THE RESULTS CORRELATED WITH THE OTHER FOCUS RECALLS WHICH SPOKE OF HIGH STEERING RESISTANCE AND THE TOTAL ESTIMATED BILL OF $2,207.55. I THEN CALLED THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS BACK AT CORPORATE FORD MOTOR COMPANY, GAVE THEM MY CASE NUMBER, AND EXPRESSED THE ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING, THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE CAR, THE CORRELATION BETWEEN MY CARS DIAGNOSIS AND THE RECALLED FORD FOCUS DIAGNOSIS; THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I SPOKE TO THEN SAID SHE WOULD DRAFT UP SOME MORE PAPERWORK IN MY CASE AND SEND IT TO HER SUPERVISOR, BUT IT WASN'T LIKELY THAT MY CAR WOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL. THE INCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE WAS ONE THAT WAS HORRIFYING, COULD HAVE CAUSED DEATH AND HAS SENT ME INTO A SPIRAL OF NON-STOP PANIC ATTACKS AND I AM UNSURE OF WHAT ALL I CAN DO. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE CAR THE REMAINING FEW MILES TO THE OFFICE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON IN THE AFTERNOON ON THE DRIVE HOME. WAS ABLE TO PLUG IN MY OWN OBD COMPUTER AND RECEIVED THE CODE P0902 (CLUTCH ACTUATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW). NEXT DAY, STARTED CAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF AND CAR DROVE FINE. HAVE APPOINTMENT FOR 10/15 TO TAKE CAR TO DEALERSHIP BUT FEAR THAT BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NO LONGER ON THEY WILL BE UNABLE TO "RECREATE THE ISSUE" AND WILL NOT FIX IT. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS CAR IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION RESET, BUT THIS OCCURRENCE WAS BY FAR THE WORST. HAD I BEEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I HAVE PRINTED THE CODE DESCRIPTION ALONG WITH THE SYNC VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT I RAN PROVING THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS "NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION". BEFORE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FORS CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM HAPPENED, THERE WAS A MINOR RECALL TO REDUCE INSTANCES OF ROLLING BACK ON HILLS. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO HAVE THAT FIXED ONLY TO HAVE MORE INTENSE ISSUES SURFACE LATER. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTICS MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT WITH NO REAL RESULTS ON THE TRANSMISSION. IN OCTOBER OF 2014 -2.5 YEARS AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW CAR. MY TRANSMISSION OFFICIALLY FAILED AS I TRIED TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY. FORD ISSUED A NOT-QUITE-RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT, AND I TOOK MY FORD IN TO GET THE REPAIR SERVICE DONE WITH 51,095 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAD TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS (SEALS AND CLUTCH) REPLACED EXACTLY AS WAS INSTRUCTED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. 10,000 MILES LATER, IN APRIL 2015, I BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE BEGINNINGS OF THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. IT WOULD SEEM THAT WHATEVER FORD CORPORATE CLAIMS IS THE ISSUE IS NOT THE CASE OR THAT THE FIX FORD CORPORATE ISN'T AN ACTUAL FIX. MORE THAN THIS, I'VE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO DO THE SAME REPLACEMENT PROCESS WHEN FORD CONFIRMED THAT THE SAME ISSUE WAS HAPPENING AND THE SAME OUTCOMES WERE IMMINENT. I ORDERED THE PARTS ON 4/16 BECAUSE THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER AND NOT AVAILABLE. 2 MONTHS LATER, THE PARTS NEEDED TO DO THIS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I'M LUCKY THAT MY HIGHWAY MERGE STALL-OUT DIDN'T END POORLY THE LAST TIME BUT NOT KNOWING WHETHER ACCELERATING IS POSSIBLE OR WHEN YOUR TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL IS SCARY. THE FACT THAT THIS IS HAPPENING AT 60,000 MILES IS INEXCUSABLE AND UNSAFE. THIS "PROGRAM" ALLOWS FORD TO AVOID FIXING THE ISSUE AND LEAVES CONSUMERS IN AN UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE AND FINANCIALLY DRAINING SITUATION.
