I WAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT UNLATCH ITSELF, I TRIED EVERYTHING I COULD, IT WOULD NOT RELEASE, UNTIL I YANKED IT OUT, NOW IT WILL NOT LATCH ALWAYS AND WILL NOT UNLATCH. *TR
THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHIFTING VERY POORLY AT ONLY ONE AND A HALF YEARS SINCE PURCHASE. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE SEVERE SHAKING AND SHUDDERING UPON ACCELERATION ACCOMPANIED BY A VERY LOUD METALLIC GRINDING SOUND. IT WAS TEST DRIVEN AND TOLD IMMEDIATELY THAT IT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY TO GET THE FIX FOR THE ERROR CODE. WAS TOLD THAT THEY LOADED THE UPDATE FOR THE TRANS. AND THAT IT WAS NOW DRIVING APPROPRIATELY. NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS LATER IT IS BACK AT THE SHOP WITH EVEN MORE SEVERE SHUDDERING AND FEELING LOSS OF POWER (STILL HAS A METALLIC GRINDING NOISE). WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED 1K MILES AFTER THE UPDATE SO THAT THE TRANS. COULD "RELEARN HOW I DRIVE." I DID NOT ACCEPT THIS SO THE ADVISOR AT MY DEALERSHIP PRODUCED A LIST OF NORMAL OPERATIONS AND BEGAN TO EXPLAIN THE TYPE OF TRANSMISSION THE FOCUS HAD. I TOLD HER THAT I WAS FULLY AWARE AND ACCEPTING OF THE OCCASIONAL HARD SHIFT OR ROLL BACK ON HILL AS WAS CUSTOMARY WITH A 'MANUAL' TRANSMISSION, BUT THAT THIS WAS MUCH WORSE/DIFFERENT. RECEIVED A PHONE CALL TODAY THAT THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE MY CAR AND THAT HE "COULD NOT REPLICATE THE COMPLAINT" EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENS 95% OF THE TIME WHEN I DRIVE IT. I AM NOT EVEN SURE THAT THEY HAVE LOOKED AT MY TRANSMISSION OR MERELY ATTACHED IT TO A COMPUTER/TEST DRIVEN IT. WILL CONTINUE TO BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED OR THE TRANS. IS RECALLED. *TR
TO DATE 8/20/2013 THE CAR HAS DIED 8 TIMES AND 4 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. THE SEQUENCE I USE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN IS AFTER THE SSN WARNING, PULL OVER, TURN INGITION OFF, OPEN DOOR, CLOSE DOOR, LOCK CAR, UNLOCK CAR, PRESS START. IT ONLY STARTED TO HAPPEN AFTER THE UPDATE WAS DONE. IT HAPPENS OVER BUMPS, ON THE FREEWAY, IN A PARKING LOT AND HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS AND HAPPENS RANDOMLY. FORTUNATELY IT HAS NOT YET CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BUT IT EASILY CAN ESPECIALLY IF IN THE FAST LANE ON THE FREEWAY OR IN AN INTERSECTION.
ONGOING AND PERSISTENT ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION; HESITATION, JERKING, SHUDDERING, GRINDING, LACK OF POWER. SLOW SPEED AND STOP-AND-GO DRIVING RESULTS IN VERY POOR PERFORMANCE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. ONE OCCASION I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MERGE AND HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY; THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT THERE WAS ALMOST NO POWER GOING TO THE WHEELS AND A VERY LOUD GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO THE SHOP TWICE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION WORKED ON. THEY REPROGRAM THE SOFTWARE AND IT DRIVES OK FOR A FEW WEEKS, THEN GOES BACK TO THE ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE CAR IN MY OPINION IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME. FORD HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS MY CONCERNS OR CORRECT THE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE OR WHEN IN THE IDLE POSITION, THE POWER STEERING WOULD DISENGAGE INDEPENDENTLY. THE STEERING AND POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE AFTER THE FAILURE. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THERE WAS A HESITATION BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESPOND FOLLOWED BY A BRIEF RAPID ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TAKATA RECALL. MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. INCLUDING OVERHEATING ISSUES, TRANSMISSION SEIZURE ALL WHILE IN MOTION IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTION ON CITY STREETS AND INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. CONSTANT VIBRATION, SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF OVERDRIVE AND SHIFTING GEARS AT THE WRONG MOMENT. THIS HAS PUT NOT ONLY MYSELF IN GREAT DANGER BUT THE PASSENGERS IN MY CAR AND OF COURSE OTHER DRIVERS NEAR BY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS BEING CAUSED BY THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WHICH, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, AS STATED BY THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN BOTH REPROGRAMMED AND IN SOME CASES REPLACED DUE TO DAMAGE OF SOME SORT. REPLACEMENT OR REPROGRAMMING THE (TCM) HAS NEVER CURED ANY ISSUES. I'VE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND MY LAW FIRM WITH THIS NONSENSE TO NO AVAIL TO DATE. MY ATTORNEY HAS WRITTEN A LETTER AND CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATING MY CONCERNS AND FORD RESPONDED WITH A SMALL LIST OF INSTRUCTIONS AS TO WHAT TO SEND TO THEIR COMPANY (FROM THE WRITTEN LETTER BUT THE PHONE CALL MESSAGE WAS IGNORED). I FOLLOWED EVERY INSTRUCTION FORD GAVE AND SINCE THEN NOTHING FURTHER HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD AND I AM STILL DRIVING THIS VERY QUESTIONABLE PRODUCT PRODUCED BY FORD. THIS ISSUE IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY 2012 FORD FOCUS OWNERS. I AM ASKING THAT FORD STEPS UP AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS KNOWN AND DANGEROUS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. FORD SEEMS TO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CURRENT CUSTOMERS AND SHOWS LITTLE RESPECT FOR OTHERS AS THIS VEHICLE (AND MANY OTHERS) IS STILL BEING DRIVEN. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL FORD CUSTOMER FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS AND NOW I AM BEING DISRESPECTED AND IGNORED. EVIDENTLY, FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE LEAVES LITTLE TO BE DESIRED AS WELL. I AM THE SINGLE OWNER OF MY 2012 FORD FOCUS. I ONLY HAVE 54K MILES ON THE VEHICLE BUT IT SHUDDERS, JERKS AND FEELS LIKE IT FALLS OUT OF GEAR AT TIMES. IT HAS BEHAVED THIS WAY SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. I THOUGHT THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT WAS. I AM NOW VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AS MY SON NOW DRIVES THE VEHICLE.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW. I HAVE HAD MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED FOUR TIMES PLUS THE ORIGINAL MAKES 4. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. PAUL MILLER FORD IN LEXINGTON, KY HAS HAD PARTS ORDERED SINCE 08-08-15. I WAS TOLD IT COULD TAKE UP TO 3 MONTHS FOR PARTS TO ARRIVE. I ASKED FOR A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE WAITING ON PARTS. I WAS INFORMED FORD MOTOR CO. SAYS THERE ARE NO SAFETY ISSUES & MY FORD FOCUS IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND DENIED A LOANER VEHICLE. ON 08-31-15 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, MY VEHICLE STALLED IN THE CENTER LANE OF TRAFFIC, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS IN FEAR OF MY LIFE! MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON & STAYED ON FOR 2 DAYS. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO MISS GEARS, JERKS, SPUTTERS, LUNGES & GEARS DOWN. I EXPLAINED TO PAUL MILLER FORD WHAT HAD HAPPENED AFTER BEING CONTACTED ABOUT REPLACEMENT PARTS. SORRY, CAN'T DO NOTHING ABOUT THAT! HOW CAN THIS BE A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE? WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL? ARE YOU WAITING FOR LIVES TO BE LOST?
OUR 2012 FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC TOTALLY SHUTDOWN AFTER RECEIVING THE STOP SAFELY NOW WARNING ALERT. CAR SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF RECEIVING THE WARNING. WE HAD NO TIME TO REACT OR PULL THE CAR SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE STOP SAFELY NOW WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE HIGH VOLTAGE CABLE HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500.
VEHICLE SHUTTERS SHAKES AND LACKS ACCELERATION WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE THAT HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. IN FEBRUARY 2014, I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET TO DRIVE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND WE HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND THE CAR LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SKAGIT FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THE FRONT AXLE SNAPPED WHERE IT GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS WAS A FORD DEFECT BY THE SERVICE A ADVISER AND HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN IN HIS 30 YEARS. I NOTIFIED FORD SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THE SHIFTING ISSUES AND BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE UPDATES AND NEW CLUTCH. THEY ARE ALSO AWARE OF THE METAL AXLE SNAPPING AND ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING REGARDING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE. I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS WITH FORD AND THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY WRITTEN CONFIRMATION THAT FORD IS TAKING THIS INCIDENT SERIOUSLY. THE CHROME METALLIC TRIM ON THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN PEELING OFF AROUND THE EDGE. PIECES OF SHARP METAL CUT INTO MY FINGERTIPS ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. *TR
Transmission is dangerous. Vehicle stutters through 1st gear continuously, as if the clutch is constantly slipping. This is most prevalent on hot days. The only way to get around this condition is to floor it from stop. This hesitation and unreliable application of power could cause accidents as the afflicted vehicle tries to turn onto a road where traffic does not stop. I have developed the habit of expecting my vehicle to basically die during the turn, and thus will not turn without a very large (sometimes unreasonable) margin of time to clear the turn. This hesitation may also increase the risk of being rear-ended by another vehicle who expects the afflicted vehicle to accelerate as normal. This transmission issue is part of a class-action settlement with Ford, arbitrated by CAP Motors under Ford PowerShift Transmission.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION, THE CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED WHILE A CHILD WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED FOR ASSISTANCE HOWEVER, A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,600.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUMPY ROAD AT 40MPH THIS MORNING, CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN, ATTEMPTED TO TURN RIGHT AND MERGE ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH AN 50MPH SPEED LIMIT, THE CAR STARTED TO GO AND THEN ALL POWER CUT OUT WITHOUT WARNING AND THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" AND "REFER TO OWNERS MANUAL" WARNINGS CAME UP ON THE LEFT SCREEN! LUCKILY, I WAS NOT FULLY INTO THE TRAFFIC YET AS THERE WERE SEVERAL SEMIS COMING. I VEERED TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. IF I HAD GOT GOING EVEN FOR A SECOND MORE I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT IN TRAFFIC IN THE PATH OF A SEMI COMING AT OVER 50MPH. IT TOOK A FEW MINUTES OF TRYING TO TURN IT OFF. EVENTUALLY I OPENED THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THAT SEEMED TO FREE IT UP TO TURN IT OFF. I WAS THEN ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AGAIN AND CARRY ON WITH MY DAY. *TR
I SEE HERE THAT SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS COMPLAINING HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINTS THAT I DO, THE INCLINE PROBLEMS, THE VEHICLE SOUNDING LIKE IT IS GOING TO DIE ON YOU. THE PROBLEMS WHEN YOU ACCELERATE. THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD THAT PROBLEM FROM THE TIME WE PURCHASED IT. I AM THINKING IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GUIDE ME. I STILL HAVE YEARS ON THE NOTE AND IT IS NOT FAIR TO PAY ON SOMETHING THAT IS AS MENTIONED BY SOMEONE HERE, IS "EMBARRASSING TO DRIVE WITH A PASSENGER". TRANSMISSION FAILS AT 27900 MILES ON JULY 8TH, 2013, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (GEARS DON'T SHIFT), DANGEROUSLY COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A STOP, CAR TOWED, DEALER REPLACES THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION; 1 MONTH LATER, ON AUGUST 14TH, 2013, SAME ISSUE OCCURS WHILE CHANGING LANES ON HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING TO DO SO, CAR SUDDENLY REFUSES TO CHANGE GEARS, CAR SLOWS DOWN TO 10-15 MPH (GEARS DON'T SHIFT), DANGEROUSLY COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CAR TOWED, DEALER RE-PROGRAMS THE TRANSMISSION; ON AUGUST 19TH, 2013, 3 DAYS AFTER THE SECOND FIX, TRANSMISSION FAILS AGAIN, CAR TOWED, DEALER REPLACES COMPUTER MODULATOR, RE-PROGRAMS TRANSMISSION. WE DO NOT TRUST THIS CAR ANYMORE, WE DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS SAFE, AND WE WILL SEEK TO RETURN IT TO THE MANUFACTURER AND GET OUR MONEY BACK. *TR
VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WAS NOT ABLE TO SAFELY ACCELERATE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WHEN I DOWN SHIFTED A GEAR TO PASS SOMEONE (MANUAL TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT HAD ABOUT 30% POWER. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF OF HIGHWAY. ONCE VEHICLE WAS SHUTOFF AND TURNED BACK ON IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH OR ANYTHING. IT JUST HAPPENED ALL OF THE SUDDEN AND WAS VERY SCARY. *TR
I PURCHASED MY FIRST 2012 FORD FOCUS IN 2011. I EXPERIENCED SHIFTING ISSUES ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO GET LOOKED AT BECAUSE EACH TIME I HAD TAKEN IT, THE DEALER INSISTED THAT IT WAS DRIVING CORRECTLY AND THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE NEW TYPE OF TRANSMISSION EXCEPT EACH TIME THEY WOULD "REPROGRAM" THE TRANSMISSION AND SEND ME ON MY WAY. I WOULDN'T BE 10 MINUTES DOWN THE STREET AND IT WOULD START ACTING UP AGAIN. LAST YEAR I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AFTER MY 3RD "REPROGRAM" AND TOLD THEM THAT I WANTED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. AFTER FIGHTING WITH FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP I ENDED UP EATING THE NEGATIVE EQUITY FROM MY FIRST FOCUS AND ROLLING IT INTO A SECOND 2012 FOCUS. I WAS ASSURED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS ONLY DUE TO A FIRST PRODUCTION MODEL AND THAT THE ONE I WAS PURCHASING WOULDN'T BE THE SAME... LIES. I HAVE NOW HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THE SEAL LEAKING ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CLUTCHES SLIPPING. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AS I WANT OUT OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE DISTRICT REP. IS NOT RETURNING MY CALLS. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE CAR TURNING OFF AT 65 MILES AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THANKFULLY I MANAGED TO NAVIGATE THROUGH HIGHWAY TRAFFIC TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR THAT WAS DAMAGED AFTER REPAIR OF MY TRANSMISSION THE FIRST TIME, BUT AFTER READING THESE COMPLAINTS, IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS JUST ANOTHER FLAW OF THIS VEHICLE. I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW FORD IS HANDLING THIS PROBLEM. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE BEFORE THEY FIX THE PROBLEM OR BUY BACK THE VEHICLES THAT ARE HAVING PROBLEMS? I BOUGHT AS A FORD PRE-OWNED. I DID NOT NOTICE THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING. AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I STARTED NOTICING THE TRANSMISSION STARTING TO GET JERKY. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY PERFORMED THE UPDATE BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY THE NEW TRANSMISSION ARE.IT IS NOT GETTING ANY BETTER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,500....UPDATED 11-14-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED SHE STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP OR IN A PARKING LOT. AROUND THAT TIME, SHE ALSO STARTED TO REALIZE THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS ON AN INCLINE, WHEN SHE TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THEN STARTED TO ACCELERATE. IT CONTINUE TO HAPPEN ON AND OFF WHENEVER SHE WAS ON AN INCLINE. ALSO, WHEN THE CONSUMER PROCEEDED FROM A STOP LIGHT, OR STOP SIGN, IT FELT AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE WASN'T GOING INTO TO GEAR. WHEN IT DID, THERE WAS A STUTTER AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE , AS IF IT WERE GOING TO STALL. WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN SHE PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR. THE DEALER UPDATED THE PCM AND TWICE AND REPLACED A STRUT BEARING.

SUBMISSION FROM CONSTITUENT RE PROBLEMS WITH 2012 FORD FOCUS. *SMD THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SEEMED A BIT JERKY AND IT SHIFTED MORE OFTEN. WHEN THE CONSUMER VISITED THE DEALER TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND THE TRIES ROTATED, SHE MENTIONED HER FINDINGS TO THE MECHANIC, AND HE INDICATED THERE WAS AN UPDATE AVAILABLE THEY WOULD PERFORM. WHEN SHE PICKED THE VEHICLE UP LATER THAT DAY, THE PROBLEM WAS MUCH WORSE. THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED AND SHUDDERED EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE THE UPDATE AND THE NOISE WAS SHE WAS HEARING, WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTED WAS LOUDER AND SOUNDED AS IF CANS WERE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER, TO GIVE IT A WEEK, BECAUSE THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO REPROGRAM ITSELF. A WEEK LATER, THE DEALER CALLED THE CONSUMER, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS STILL NO CHANGE. OVER TIME, THE PROBLEM DID NOT RESOLVE ITSELF. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, AND CLAIMED THE IT WAS PERFORMING WITHIN FORDS SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. THE MECHANIC DID ACKNOWLEDGE THERE WAS A JERK IN THE TRANSMISSION, IT SHUDDERED AND HESITATED, BUT STATED, THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE NOISE AS OF YET.
ISSUE 1: THE VEHICLE IS ON ITS THIRD CLUTCH IN THE 2 YEARS SINCE PURCHASE AND CONTINUES TO HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. WHEN APPLYING GAS IT STUTTERS, LURCHES, OR RESPONDS AS IF NOT TAKING GAS. THIS WEEK: THREE TIMES TURNING FROM STOP SIGN LEFT, RIGHT FROM STOP SIGN, AND RIGHT FROM PARKING LOT. APPLY GAS TO ACCELERATE AND VEHICLES STUTTERS, PAUSES, AND STALLS FOR A MOMENT. TWO OF THE THREE, PARTICULARLY ONE CAME CLOSE TO RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS ALSO OCCURRED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY TURNING RIGHT AT A STOP SIGN ON OCT 27. IT HAS OCCURRED DOZENS OF TIMES PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR EVENTS AND NOW IS STARTING TO RECUR, WITH MORE NG A STALLING/LURCHING THAN A STUTTERING. FORD IS FULLY AWARE OF THESE ISSUES. I AM TAKING IT IN FOR REPAIRS AGAIN BUT FEEL IT IS UNSAFE AND WANT THE CAR RETURNED. ISSUE 2: THE VEHICLE ACHIEVES FAR BELOW THE ADVERTISED MPG. THEY ADVERTISE 27 AND IT GAINS 22.5 AT BEST. I OWN A 2012 FORD FOCUS WHICH HAS HAD BEEN TO FAIRWAY FORD IN PLACENTIA FOR THE TRANSMISSION RECALLS. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, DROPS AND LUNGES FORWARD EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS UPDATED PROGRAMS. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED AND FUEL TANK AS BOTH WERE DEFECTIVE.
WE FIRST NOTICED WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR THAT IT WAS JERKY WHEN ACCELERATING, WAS TOLD THAT IS THE WAY THE CAR DRIVES. WENT ON A ROAD TRIP AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO EXPRESSWAY WOULDN'T GO JUST REVVED THEN JERKED OUT INTO TRAFFIC, WE ALMOST GOT KILLED AND HAD TO GO TO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS VERY UNSAFE. WE GOT TO THE POINT WE WERE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, CAUSE WE DIDN'T KNOW WHEN IT WOULD JUST REV AND JERK OR IF IT WOULD ACTUALLY WORK PROPERLY. IT DIDN'T MATTER IF YOU JUST STARTED AND TRIED BACKING OUT OR WERE ON THE ROAD, THE PROBLEM WAS CONSTANT. THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. TOOK TO DEALER ON JULY 6TH AND MY CAR HAS BEEN THERE SINCE, IT IS NOW 6 WEEKS AND THEY ARE REPLACING TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES, THERE IS A BACKORDER OF OVER 8,000 CLUTCHES, WHICH MEANS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THEIR CAR IN AND THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS CAR AND WE HAVE NO IDEA IF THE CAR WILL BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER OF THESE PARTS DOES NOT HAVE ANY IN THE WAREHOUSE AND FORD IS ESTIMATING SEPT 7TH WHICH WE DOUBT. THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE CAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO SHIFT. . I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. AS OF RIGHT NOW WE HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS AND NO LONGER WANT THE CAR BACK. MY FIRST INCIDENT WAS DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE APPEARED WITH A STRANGE BEEPING NOISE FOLLOWED BY AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I TURNED OFF MY CAR AND GOT IT BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK TO ITS NORMAL LEVELS. LATER THE NEXT DAY, THE CAR WAS IN MOVEMENT OVER 30MPH WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE HIGHWAY AND THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON AGAIN MAKING MY CAR TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE CAUSING ME TO ALMOST CRASH. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE CAR OUT OF THE HIGH WAY IN ORDER TO HAVE THE STEERING LEVELS BACK BY TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. TODAY I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD SERVICE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR CHECKED BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO ABOUT THIS INCIDENT FOR WHAT SUGGESTED ME TO CONTACT ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DURING THE NEXT INCIDENT AND HAVE THEM TAKE IN MY CAR TO THERE SERVICE TO FIX IT AT THE MOMENT. I MENTIONED THAT IF THAT WAS TO BE DONE MY CAR WOULD OBVIOUSLY HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF AND ON IN THE PROCESS CAUSING THE ISSUE TO MOMENTARILY DISAPPEAR FOR WHAT HE WOULD STILL NOT BE ABLE TO WITNESS THE INCIDENT AS HE REQUEST, JUST LIKE TODAY. BOTH INSTANCES I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER AND COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. I HAD TO COAST TO A SAFE SPOT TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WITH THIS VEHICLE AS DRIVER MAY NOT HAVE ABILITY TO COAST TO SAFE STOP WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY OR BUSY TRAFFIC. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED, THE TECHNICIANS PROFESSED NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISSUE AND CONTACTED FORD FOR SUPPORT. THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE ISSUE AND THE CAR HAD NO LOG OF THE EVENTS. FINALLY, I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTED POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM). UNFORTUNATELY, THIS PART WAS ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER FOR 6 WEEKS (PROBABLY AS A RESULT OF THE KNOWN PROBLEMS). AFTER THE PART WAS FINALLY REPLACED, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PCM WOULD NOT PROGRAM CORRECTLY, AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. END RESULT, I HAVE MY VEHICLE BACK, JUST IN TIME TO TAKE IT BACK FOR A RECALL. AT LEAST IT HASN'T STALLED ??. YET. *TR

I WAS ADAMANT ABOUT THE STYLE OF TRANSMISSION AS I COMMUTE WITH 40% OF DRIVING WITHIN CITY LIMITS. I DID NOT KNOW, NOR WAS IT DISCLOSED THAT, THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION WAS A HYBRID COMPUTERIZED CLUTCH. A CLUTCH ASSEMBLY PACK WAS REPLACED AT 17,265 MILES WHICH REDUCED THE SYMPTOMS OF THE DEFECT FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO "FIX" THE CAR, THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TOLD ME TO SUE FORD. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY SIMPLY REPEATED WHAT ALL OTHERS ARE SAYING "IT OPERATES ACCORDING TO DESIGN". AT THIS TIME, THE CAR IS OPERATING AT ITS WORSE SINCE I TOOK POSSESSION. LIKE MOST OTHER COMPLAINTS, THERE IS GRINDING, JOLTING, SEVERE SHUDDERING, RAPID ACCELERATION FROM HESITATION, AND NEAR POWERLESSNESS WHEN ASCENDING. THIS PAST MONTH, THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW NEAR MISSES FROM HESITATION THROUGH INTERSECTIONS.
