THE VEHICLE STARTED SHUDDERING BADLY BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS AND TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR AT HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING SPEEDS. RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, PARKWAY FORD IN WINSTON SALEM, NC FOR EVALUATION AND REPAIR. THIS WAS THE 8TH INCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH, SEAL ASSEMBLIES AND REPROGRAMED THEPCM/TCM. I GOT IN THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE HOME AND MY FIRST WORRY WAS IF I WOULD MAKE IT HOME SAFELY AND WITHOUT A MISHAP.
DAILY OCCURRENCE. IT SPEEDS UP ON IT'S OWN. IT LOSES POWER IN INTERSECTIONS AND WHILE MERGING. IT SOMETIMES DOESN'T RESPOND TO ATTEMPTED ACCELERATION. IT SHUTTERS SO BAD, AND I CAN'T PREDICT WHAT IT WILL DO. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS, AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS FORD HAS NO LONG TERM FIX. I WAS ALMOST HIT.MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE IT STOPPED ACCELERATING. I ALMOST HIT OTHERS MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE IT ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 17000 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT.
AS OTHERS DESCRIBED. WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING STOPS. PULL OVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE AND THE STEERING ASSISTS COMES BACK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A YEAR INTERMITTENTLY ABOUT 6-8 WEEKS APART. THIS WEEK IT HAPPENED BUT THE STEERING ASSIST HAS NOT RETURNED.
THE DPS6 DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR OCCASIONALLY EXHIBITS SYMPTOMS SUCH AS SLIPPING INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED, SUDDEN ACCELERATION OR 'GRABBING' WHILE DECELERATING AND WHEN AT A STOP, AND VIBRATION/SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THESE SYMPTOMS DO NOT SEEM TO OCCUR WITH ANY DISCERNIBLE PATTERN, I.E IT HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD OR HOT, WHETHER DRIVING SLOWLY OR FASTER. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 125K MILES ON IT AND HAS ALREADY HAD THE CLUTCH PACK REPLACED TWICE. AFTER EACH CLUTCH REPLACEMENT THE SYMPTOMS ABATED FOR A WHILE, ONLY TO GRADUALLY RETURN AFTER PERHAPS 20K MILES.
WHEN I TURNED MY CAR ON I GOT AN ALERT THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED". I TRIED TO BACK UP BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY STIFF SO I TURNED MY CAR OFF. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE, AND I AM CONFUSED AS TO WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING YET.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND RPM'S SHOT UP TO 5 AND I HAD NO POWER AND WHEN I STOP AND THEN TRY TO TAKE OFF THE CAR JERKS AND THERES NO POWER, CAR ALSO SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE CAR IS ON INTERSTATE DAILY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON.
ALL RECALLS WERE CORRECTED. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS A LIGHT, WHEN DECODED IT SAYS IT IS THE VACCUM SYSTEM AND EPA REGULATIONS. WHEN HAS IS PUT IN THE CAR, IT STALLS AND STRUGGLES TO START. TO START IT, GAS PEDAL MUST BE PUSHED FIRST. IF GAS PEDAL IS NOT PUSHED, CALL STALLS FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW LOW GAS IS WHEN GAS IS PUT IN THE CAR, IT STALLS.
DPS6 TRANSMISSION CONTINUOUSLY CAUSING PROBLEMS TO CAR FROM GEARS BEING SKIPPED, TAKES A SECOND FOR THE CAR TO GET GOING WHEN PRESSING GAS THEN WHEN IT GOES IT'S LIKE A ROCKET BLAST. STUTTERING WHEN IDLE. WHEN TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS BUT THEN NEEDING TO STEP ON THE GAS TO GO UP HILL, THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY- ITS A DELAYED ACCELERATION. WHEN LIGHTLY PRESSING THE GAS THE CAR STUTTERS AND YOU CAN HEAR THE METAL GEARS SHIFTING. WHEN RECALLS ARE FIXED, IT LEADS TO ME HAVING TO PAY FOR OTHER ISSUES TO BE FIXED (I.E. GOT FUEL TAKE RECALL FIXED BUT PAID $900 B/C OF OTHER DAMAGES CAUSED FROM THE DEFECT- IS WHAT I WAS TOLD). ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE 2015 WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED. FORD PUT MORE EFFORT IN TEACHING THEIR DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL HOW TO B.S. CUSTOMERS WITH FALSE LANGUAGE OF WHAT ISSUES ARE AND NOT EVER BEING HONEST. NO ONE SHOULD BE DRIVING THIS DEATH TRAP OF A CAR.
THE VEHICLE STUTTERS, SHAKES, SHUDDERS, GRINDS, AND JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STAND STILL OR ACCELERATING OUT OF A A LOWER TURN. I HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED A YEAR AGO BUT THAT ONLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS. NOW IT'S WORSE THAN EVER AND I DRIVE IT EXACTLY HOW THE FORD MECHANIC PEOPLE DESCRIBED. CROSSING 4 LANE HIGHWAYS HAS BECOME A RISKY ENDEAVOR NOW AS I NEVER KNOW IF THE CAR WILL STALL OR LAG OR ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH TO GET THROUGH. I VOICED THIS SAFETY CONCERN WITH FORD MORE THAN ONCE BUT THEY DIDN'T CARE. THE FORD SHOP HAS TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THE ISSUE WAS MY OWN FAULT BECAUSE OF HOW I DRIVE IT BUT I'VE SEEN MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE. THEY ALSO BLAMED THE PROBLEM ON A LEAKY SEAL WITHIN THE CLUTCH AND ENSURED THE REPLACEMENT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE BUT CLEARLY IT HASN'T. THE WHOLE DESIGN IS DEFECTIVE BUT FORD LITERALLY DOESN'T CARE. PERSONALLY, I NEVER CARRY ANY PASSENGERS BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN I'LL BE STRANDED OR GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH ISSUE. I ALSO GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND OTHER BASIC CAR MAINTENANCE TO TRY TO BE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE BUT I FEEL IT'S A TIME BOMB. *JS

ADDITIONALLY, THE AIR CONDITIONER AND RADIO TURNED ON BY THEMSELVES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ARLINGTON HEIGHTS FORD (801 W DUNDEE RD, ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL 60004, (888) 481-8607), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,269.
THIS FOCUS HAS GAVE ME NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS . I'VE HAD IT FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS IN JANUARY. AND IT'S LEFT ME STRANDED NUMEROUS TIMES MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DELERSHIP LETS NOT GET STARTED ON HOW AWFUL THEY ARE. I'M GOING TO TRADE IT IN . NEVER WILL I BUY ANOTHER FORD !!
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND SHIFTS ERRATICALLY IN LOW GEARS. SOMETIMES UNANTICIPATED ACCELERATIONS FROM LOW GEARS AND SOMETIMES TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO LOW GEARS WHILE AT HIGHER SPEEDS, CAUSING VEHICLE TO REV UP AND LOOSE ACCELERATIONS INTERMITTENTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ROUGHLY. THERE WAS A BRIEF DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE ALSO HESITATED BEFORE SHIFTING INTO GEAR. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO DONLEY LINCOLN FORD (1455 COSHOCTON AVE, MT VERNON, OH 43050, (740) 392-2222) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A CONTROL MODULE, SEALS, AND THE DUAL CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTROL MODULE AND SEALS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE OTHER PART WAS NOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE DUAL CLUTCHES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
BOLT SHEARED OFF IN THE TRANSMISSION WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL OUT & BE UNABLE TO GO INTO ANY GEAR, GATES FOR THE GEARS SEEMED TO BE GONE AS SHIFTER KNOB COULD MOVE FREELY AROUND. IT DID RE-START ONCE, JUST LONG ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, THEN IMMEDIATELY STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. GOT THE BOLT REPLACED WITH A FORD BOLT, IT SHEARED OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWNTOWN WITHIN 4 DAYS, HAD IT REPLACED AND BOLTED THROUGH A 2ND TIME, AND IT SHEARED OFF YET AGAIN WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, 2 OF THE THREE TIMES THIS HAPPENED CAR WAS ABOVE 30MPH, ONE TIME I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 15MPH. CAR IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONAL & FORD HAS STATED THUS FAR, THEIR SUGGESTION IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH SEEMS TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX, AS EVERYONE ELSE WHO I KNOW/HAVE LOOKED UP THAT'S HAD THIS DONE ONLY GETS THE VEHICLE WORKING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN THE VEHICLE STOPS WORKING AGAIN WHEN THE BOLT SHEARS OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR THE 2012-2016 FORD FOCUS, THOUGH I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S JUST MANUAL OR BOTH MANUAL & AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
MY STERLING GET STUCK AND MY TRANSMISSION MAKING NOISE AND MY CAR DONT GO INTO REVERSE
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LOST ALL POWER AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE, HAPPENED IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND PUT MY SAFETY AT AN EXTREME RISK. VEHICLE ALSO SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING EVERY TIME AND SOMETIMES BEGINS TO ACCELERATE AS I AM COMING TO A STOP WHILE MY FOOT IS OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL.

VEHICLE STALLS ERRATICALLY DUE TO A FUEL DELIVERY ISSUE. LEAVES DRIVER STRANDED WITH NO MEANS OF STARTING THE CAR. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE VIA NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 18V735 BUT NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED YET.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING AND LOST ALL POWER WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RE-STARTED. WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED AND LOOKED AT BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP SINCE THE FORD DEALERSHIPS WERE TOO BUSY TO LOOK AT A VEHICLE THAT WAS 3 HOURS AWAY FROM THE HOME ADDRESS. THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE WAS THE EVAPORATOR VACUUM CANISTER. THE FAILURE OF THE CANISTER ALSO CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO DEFORM AND DAMAGED THE FUEL PUMP/LEVEL SENSOR. THE CANISTER WAS REPLACED AND THE FUEL TANK POPPED OUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BUT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS STILL READING INCORRECTLY DUE TO THE DEFORMED TANK.
I PURCHASED MY BRAND NEW 2013 FORD FOCUS, FROM THE DEALER IN MAY OF 2013. I TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER BECAUSE IT WAS "CLUNKY" WHEN ACCELERATING. THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME "THE CAR JUST NEEDS TO LEARN HOW YOU DRIVE, WE WILL RESET THE COMPUTER". SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD IT "RESET" 4 TIMES AND AM ON MY 3RD CLUTCH REPAIR. LAST WEEK WHILE BRAKING MY CAR DECIDED TO ACCELERATE INSTEAD. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME IN A YEAR, ONE RESULTING IN A BUMPER ON BUMPER ACCIDENT WITH MINIMAL DAMAGE. I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR, I COMMUTE TWO HOURS A DAY. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES! IF THE I HAD BEEN TOLD BACK IN 2013 WHEN I PURCHASED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE I WOULD HAVE TRADED THAT CAR THE FIRST WEEK.

DROVE TO WORK FINE, ON MY WAY HOME, ALERT COMES ON STEERING WHEEL FAULT AND THEN I CAN BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. I PANIC AND PULL INTO AUTO ZONE, WHICH THEY SAY I MAY NEED POWER STEERING FLUID SO I BUY A BOTTLE. LOOK IN THE CAR BOOK TO SEE WHERE TO PUT IT, TURNS OUT THIS CAR ISNT EQUIP WITH THAT, I HAVE AN ESP! GET IN THE CAR AGAIN AND EVERYTHING IS FINE NO ALERT AND I CAN DRIVE IT FINE. NEXT DAY I GO TO DRIVE AND AGAIN I HAVE AN ALERT AND CAN NOT DRIVE!!! THIS IS MY 1ST CAR EVER AND IN THE 2YRS I'VE HAD IT NOTHING BUT RECALLS ON IT! THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL TO MANY ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. WHAT IF THIS HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY!?!?! THE CONTACT DROVE TO JONES FORD (5757 RIVERS AVE, NORTH CHARLESTON, SC 29406, (843) 744-3311) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
TRANSMISSION SYSTEM ON DASH DOESN'T RECOGNIZE CAR IS IN PARK OR ANY CHANGES IN GEAR. IT REFUSES TO START (OR EVEN CRANK).
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ACCELERATE AT TIMES AND DISENGAGES DURING DRIVING. TRANMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY HAS SHAKING CONDITION WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE CONTACT'S SON STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S SON DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV). LATER THAT DAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND A FUEL ODOR WAS DETECTED. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING 68 MPH, IT WAS BELIEVED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE STEERING SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED HEAD ON INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT'S SON DIED INSTANTLY AND THE PASSENGER WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. ANOTHER MOTORIST OBSERVED THE CRASH AND CALLED 911. THE PASSENGER WAS AIRLIFTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR THEIR UNKNOWN INJURIES. THE CONTACT'S SON WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ON THE SCENE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle decelerated and stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into gear. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch pedal, transmission, canister purge valve, injectors, and spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD FOCUS SE. I BOUGHT IT USED AT 84K MILES FROM A DEALERSHIP IN FEBRUARY OF 2019. FIRST TIME I GOT GAS AFTER BUYING THE CAR IT HAD TROUBLE STARTING AFTERWARDS. HAD THAT FIXED AND IT DOESN'T STALL BUT THE MILES TO EMPTY READS INCORRECTLY NOW. ALSO STARTED MAKING A GRINDING SORT OF NOISE WHEN I'M GOING UP SLIGHT INCLINES. WHEN I GO FROM A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN IT SHUDDERS DURING ACCELERATING. I WAS GETTING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO STOP ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP DUE TO ROAD WORK AND ALMOST COULDN'T GET ENOUGH POWER TO GET ONTO THE INTERSTATE. CURRENTLY THIS WEBSITE IS SAYING ALL OF MY RECALLS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED.
CAR WOULD NOT START. JUMP STARTED BATTERY. DASHBOARD REFERENCE TRANSMISSION ERROR. PRESS OK TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE. SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE INTERMEDIATE SHIFTING PROBLEMS. FORD REFERS TO THE SHIFTING PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION AS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM AND NOT A RECALL. REFERENCING 14M02 AS THE CONTROL MODULE BEING THE CULPRIT AND 14M01 AS THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH BEING THE COUSIN OF THE CULPRIT. THERE ARE SEVERAL POSTING INDICATING A LACK OF ADDRESSING THE FAULTY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING. WE DO NOT BELIEVE FORD IS TAKING AN ACTIVE ROLE IN IDENTIFYING TRACTABILITY OF THE COMPONENTS WE UNDERSTAND THERE IS A LAWSUIT FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM.
VEHICLE SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY AT TIMES FROM STOP UP TO 10 MPH. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. BUT HAS BECOME A PROBLEM AS IT LOOSENED THE HEAT SHIELD. I HAD WARRANTY WORK DONE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 AND THEY MENTIONED THIS SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BUT IT HASN'T.
WHILE DRIVING, MY POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GOES OUT, LUCKILY I WAS PARKING WHEN IT DID, BUT THE MESSAGE POPS UP AS -STEERING ASSIST FAULT-. NOW I WOULD HAVE BEEN WORRIED IF IT WASNT FOR THE FACT THAT IT WOULD WORK FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME THEN RANDOMLY CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, GOT ME ONCE ON A TURN ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH. NOT SURE IF THERE IS A REAL DIFFERENCE WITH THE OTHER FOCUSES BUT MINES A 2013 FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK.
AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE, AND PUTTING IT INTO GEAR, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND I GET AN ERROR STATING "STEERING FAULT ASSIST SERVICE REQUIRED". TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN FIXED THIS ISSUE A FEW TIMES BEFORE, BUT IT WORRIES ME THAT THE POWER STEERING COULD GO OUT AT ANY TIME. THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS FOR OTHER FORD MODELS HAVING THIS ISSUE, SUCH AS THE FUSION, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE FOCUS.
1. THE TRANSMISSION JUMPED AT INTERSECTION ONCE. THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SWITCH FROM PARK TO DRIVE ONCE. THE SOFTWARE WAS RE-CONFIGURED SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT STILL NOT RUNNING SMOOTHLY AT LOW SPEED. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN NEW. 2. THE FUEL TANK INDICATOR DID NOT SHOW CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. THE CAR SEEMS LOOSING POWER. HAD TO BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO RE-CONFIGURE THE SOFTWARE.
WE HAD TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES REPLACED THROUGH RECALL. THIS DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING, CAR WILL START FLASHING TRANSMISSION ERROR, HILL ASSIST ERROR, BREAKING ERROR , ETC.. THEN THE CAR WILL STALL. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALER 3 TIMES NOW. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BUSY CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY.
DPS6 TRANSMISSION SHUTTER HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED TO BE REPAIRED 4 TIMES. WAS TOLD THE LAST TIME THAT IT SHOULD BE A PERMANENT FIX. IT'S STARTING TO SHUTTER YET AGAIN. EVERY TIME I'M TOLD IT'S OKAY AND HAVE TO FIGHT TO GET IT REPAIRED. THIS WORRIES ME AS ENTERING A HIGHWAY VIA ON RAMP WHEN YOU NEED TO BUILD UP SPEED AND IT SHUTTERS IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS
FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS MY FORD FOCUS 2013 HAS HAD THE RADIO SYSTEM GO OUT ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. TYPICALLY THERE WOULD BE A LOUD POP, THEN IT WOULDN'T WORK UNTIL I RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS WASN'T A BIG DEAL TO ME-- I DON'T MIND DRIVING WITHOUT MUSIC. THE PAST MONTH IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. INSTEAD OF JUST A LOUD POP, IT WILL OFTEN MAKE A CRACKLING OR SCREECHING NOISE FOR UP TO A MINUTE OR TWO. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHILE I'M DRIVING AS WELL AS WHEN THE CAR IS NOT EVEN ON (MOST LIKELY DRAINING THE BATTERY, SINCE THE RADIO LIGHTS UP WHEN MAKING THE NOISE). TODAY WAS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING. I LEFT MY HOUSE TO WALK TO MY CAR, AND COULD HEAR FROM MY BACKYARD (TO THE SIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY WHERE IT WAS PARKED) A LOUD SCREECHING, POPPING, CRACKLING NOISE. I WALKED UP TO MY CAR AND, SURE ENOUGH, ALTHOUGH IT WASN'T EVEN UNLOCKED, STILL HAD ALL THE DOORS SHUT, AND I HADN'T EVEN TOUCHED IT, IT WAS MAKING THESE NOISES THAT COULD BE HEARD FROM A DISTANCE. I GOT INTO MY CAR, HOPING STARTING IT WOULD HELP, BUT THE NOISES CONTINUED. IT WAS SUCH A STARTLING NOISE, I COULDN'T IMAGINE DRIVING WITH IT GOING. I ENDED UP GOING BACK INSIDE TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON HOW TO HELP IT. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT HALF AN HOUR LATER IT WAS STILL GOING. IN MY RESEARCH I SAW MANY OTHER FORD FOCUS 2013 OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. I REALIZE THIS IS CONSIDERED A COSMETIC ISSUE, WHICH I CAN UNDERSTAND SINCE A RADIO ISN'T NECESSARY. BUT NOW IT HAS ESCALATED TO A CONTINUOUS NOISE THAT CAN BE HEARD OUTSIDE OF MY CAR AND GOES EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT ON-- I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I ENDED UP TAKING OUT THE FUSE #79 AFTER READING OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE SIMILARLY, AND CHECKING WITH MY OWNER'S MANUAL. I'M A BIT CONCERNED ABOUT DOING THIS SINCE THAT FUSE ALSO WORKS WITH THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND THE DOOR LOCKS. BUT WITH THE SOUND STILL GOING, I KNEW I HAD TO TAKE THE FUSE OUT OR COULDN'T DRIVE MY CAR TO WORK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND HESITATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO FORD OF SAN LEANDRO (1111 MARINA BLVD, SAN LEANDRO, CA 94577) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION CLUTCH AND MODULE. THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS EIGHT DAYS PAST THE WARRANTY REQUIREMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,774.
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL IN DEC. 18 FOR CPV VALVE AND DEFORMED GAS TANK. THEY SAID PARTS WOULD BE IN BY END OF MARCH 2019 AS PER LETTER FROM FORD. I CALLED FORD TODAY AND THEY ARE APPARENTLY STILL WORKING WITH THEIR PARTS SUPPLIER AND THEY HAVE NO DATE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A FOCUS ST AND THEY SAY ONLY FILL UP THE GAS TANK HALFWAY. WHY HAVE A RECALL IF THEY DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM? WHO IS PROTECTING THE CONSUMER? IS THERE AN ACTUAL TIME LIMIT TO GET THIS DONE?
ON FRIDAY, MAY 30. 2019, AROUND 5:00PM, I WAS DRIVING TO A FAMILY EVENT. I HAD JUST STOPPED FOR GAS ABOUT 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT HAPPENING. AS IBWAS DRIVING AND I CAME TO A STOP. JUST AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, SIGNALING FOR ME TO GO, AND I RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, MY CAR STALLED. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL, AND BEGAN PUSHING IT OUT OF THE STREET. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD THAT EVENTUALLY DISSIPATED. I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART MY CAR AND IT NEVER WOULD. I CALLED MY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROVIDER AND HAD MY CAR TOWED HOME. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE WHEN TODAY I HAD A READER PLUGGED INTO MY CAR TO TEST FOR ANY ERROR CODES. SURELY, CODES P0100, P2227 AND P0456 ALL CAME UP. AS I RESEARCHED THESE CODES, I WAS BROUGHT TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND FOUND THID RECALL THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF AND THERE'S NO REMEDY FOR. I AM WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION.
BRAKE LAMP BULB FAULT, REPLACE BOTH BRAKE LAMP BULBS WITH NEW ONES, THEY BOTH WORK BUT EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED SAME MESSAGE COMES UP
MY 2013 FORD FOCUS HAS AN ISSUE WITH A STUTTERING/SHUDDERING TYPE FEELING. WHEN I AM STOPPED AND THEN BEGIN TO TRY AND ACCELERATE IS WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. THIS HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS AT TIMES WHEN I AM ENTERING TRAFFIC AFTER BEING STOPPED. MY CAR DOES NOT GET TO PROPER SPEED QUICKLY ENOUGH.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WILD WEST CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 750 W GOLDFIELD AVE, YERINGTON, NV 89447)TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE FOUND. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CODE WAS ERASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THEY CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WERE INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE. THE STORE REPRESENTATIVE FOUND THE TRANSMISSION FRICTION ELEMENT STOCK A FAILURE CODE. THE CODE WAS CLEARED. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
VERY HARD SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS WHEN FIRST STARTING TO DRIVE. AFTER CAR IS WARMED UP AND DRIVEN FOR A TIME. THERE IS A SHUDDERING IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THE HARD SHUDDERING MAKES IT SEEM LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FAIL.
I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP MANY TIMES BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION SURGES AND LOSES POWER. THE DEALER SAYS THEY JUST RESET THE COMPUTER. BUT A FEW DAYS LATER THE ISSUES RETURN. THEN THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THE ISSUES CONTINUE. I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL GET HIT IN AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE THE CAR LOSES FORWARD DRIVE.
VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY FROM A STOP SIGN OR MAKING A TURN ON TO A STREET. SOMETIMES SHUDDERS WHEN I AM ALREADY MOVING BUT TRYING TO SPEED UP WITH TRAFFIC SUCH AS BEING ON A HIGHWAY. ALSO WHEN IM LOW ON GAS BEFORE IT REACHES E IT COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. NO GAS LIGHT OR SHUDDERING. I HAD CHAMPION FORD IN ERIE PA LOOK INTO THIS BUT THERE WAS NO CODE OR ANYTHING TO GO BY. IM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FRQUENTLY NOW BUT EVERYONE I TALK TO SAYS ITS HARD TO DETERMINE WITHOUT A CODE, BUT WHAT IF MY CONTROL MODULE IS MESSED UP OR SOMETHING? I HAVE 5 KIDS I TRANSPORT EVERYDAY AND WORRIED THAT THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF SOMETHINGS NOT DONE?
AUDIO CONTROL MODULE FAILURE CAUSING EAR PIERCING NOISES AT ANY RANDOM MOMENT THAT TOTALLY DISRACTS THE DRIVER. ATTEMPT TO FILE THIS SAFETY CONCERN WAS NOT ACCEPTED BY AINSWORTH AND LEWIS AS IT WAS NOT ALREADY ON THEIR LISTING. THIS WAS REFERRED TO AS A COSMETIC PROBLEM BY LEWIS. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THIS DEFECT WILL NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY UNTIL SEVERAL ACCIDENTS ARE CAUSED AND MANY LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. NO PROACTIVE ACTIVITY WITHIN NHTSA WHATSOEVER. IF THIS IS THE WAY NHTSA CONDUCTS THEIR OPERATIONS, I STRONGLY SUGGEST A COMPUTERIZED APPLICATION THAT WILL SIMPLY HANDLE LEWIS AND AINSWORTH'S JOBS. TAXPAYERS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS ARE GETTING NO VALUE FROM THESE POSITIONS WHATSOEVER.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
