THE 6-SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION, WHEN ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS THAT THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH CAUSES HESITATION AND SHUTTER ON TAKE OFF. THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE AND THE ELECTRONIC CLUTCH HAVE BOTH BEEN REPLACED ON RECALLS. THE ELECTRONIC CLUTCH ENGAGES ERRATICALLY, CAUSING THE CAR TO SHUTTER AND LARCH FORWARD AS IT ENGAGES. WHEN CHANGING OIL IN THIS CAR, THE OWNER TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR UP A RAMP IN L RANGE ON THE GEAR SHIFT , THE ENGINE WOULD INCREASE IN RPM'S BUT THE CLUTCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE FULLY TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO GO UP THE RAMPS, LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO CHECK THE THE GEAR SHIFT, THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN IN NEUTRAL, IN WRONG SHIFT POSITION. WHEN EXPLAINING THIS TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE CAR CAN NOT GO UP A RAMP, THE TRANSMISSION IS DESIGNED FOR HIGH SPEED TAKE OFF. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS ONLY INTENDED TO BE LIFTED, NEVER IN MY 58 YEARS HAVE I EVER SEEN A CAR THAT WOULD NOT GO UP A RAMP, THE RAMP TO ME WOULD ONLY SIMULATE GOING UP A STEEP INCLINE, WHICH CAUSES MORE CONCERN WITH MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE TO AND FROM COLLEGE. FORD KEEPS TELLING US THAT THIS CAR IS OPERATING LIKE IT IS INTENDED TO, THEY ACUALLY GAVE US A PRINT OUT HOW THE CAR SHOULD FEEL AND REACT. ONE COMMENT READ THAT THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS PULLING A TRAILER, WHO WANTS A CAR THAT FEELS LIKE IT IS CONSTANTLY PULLING A TRAILER? THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP EIGHT TO TEN TIMES, WE GET THE SAME EXPLANATION EACH AND EVERY TIME NOW. IT IS WORKING THE WAY IT IS INTENDED TO, THEY SAY IT DOES NOT SHUTTER OR LARCH ON TAKE OFF. NUMEROUS TIMES MY DAUGHTER HAS HAD SOMEONE WITH HER THAT HAS EXPERIENCE THE SHUTTER AND RECENTLY THE CAR NOT GOING UP THE RAMP WITHOUT THE CARS ENGINE RACING AND THE CLUTCH NOT ENGAGING ALLOWING THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW,
I WAS ENTERING AN INTERSECTION, GOING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 5-10MPH (ACCELERATING) WHEN I WAS T-BONED BY A CAR RUNNING THEIR RED LIGHT AT ABOUT 40MPH. SHE STRUCK THE DRIVER DOOR AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE IMPACT WAS ENOUGH TO MAKE THE DRIVER DOOR UNOPENABLE AND BEND THE FRONT WHEEL TO AN IRREGULAR ANGLE. THE UNIBODY WAS DAMAGED AS WELL AS THE EXTERIOR PARTS AND THE CAR WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.
PASSENGER REAR DOOR UNLATCHED DURING DRIVING IN A COMMERCIAL PARKING LOT. WOULD NOT LATCH BACK UNTIL REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP. *TR
CAR WILL DIE WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED AT LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. CAR WILL DIE AFTER PUTTING GAS IN TANK. CAR DIED WILL DRIVING AT A SPEEDS OF 20MPH-65MPH ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WAS FORCED TO MAKE DANGEROUS MANEUVERS TO GET OFF HIGHWAY AND ON 2 OCCASIONS CAR DIED IN MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC THE VEHICLE GAS TANK HAD THE PRESSURE OF A DIESEL (1000LBS) WHEN A NORMAL SEDAN SHOULD BE 300-400LBS OF PRESSURE. THE PRESSURE CAUSED THE GAS TANK TO BECOME INVERTED AND BROKE ALL ATTACHMENTS CONTAINED TO THE FUEL PUMP. THIS IS NOT THE RESULT OF DRIVER. THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND THE RESULTS MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURIES OR POSSIBLE DEATH.
AFTER 57,000 MILES THE CLUTCH PEDAL ASSEMBLY FAILED ON MY 2013 FORD FOCUS ST. THE ACTUATOR ROD IS PLASTIC AND IT JUST SNAPPED OFF. THE FACTORY REPLACEMENT PART HAS A METAL ACTUATOR ROD, SO THE COMPANY MUST KNOW THAT THE ORIGINAL PART WAS DEFECTIVE. I COULD PICTURE THIS CAUSING A CRASH WHEN THE CLUTCH DOESN'T OPERATE PROPERLY. FORD SAYS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT AT THIS TIME. SEEMS LIKE A PRETTY SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW TO ME. WITH LABOR AND PARTS IT COST OVER $300 TO REPAIR. I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I WENT TO TURN ON THE CAR, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THE ELECTRIC STEERING RACK AND PINION HAS FAILED AND HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 1,497.00. IN ADDITION, THE CAR HAS ALSO HAD NUMEROUS REPAIRS TO THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. THE CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE THE VERY FIRST DAY OF PURCHASE. THE CAR WILL VIGOROUSLY SHUDDER AT RANDOM TIMES. THE SHUDDERING OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND IT CAUSES THE CAR TO VIOLENTLY JERK FORWARD. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR ALL OF THE SERVICE UPDATES/RECALLS, AND THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS STILL PERSIST. THE COMPUTER SCREEN ALSO WILL TURN OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. ONE TIME WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE CAR DIED. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR.
I DROVE THE CAR AS USUAL TO WORK AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I HAD A CHEK UP APPOINTMENT TO GO TO AND I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE WORK. WHEN I WAS LEAVING I NOTICED MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS OBSTRUCTING IT BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT PREVENTED THE DOOR TO FULLY CLOSE PROPERLY. ALREADY IN A RUSH I JUST DUCT TAPED MY DOOR CLOSE AND LEFT, THE WHOLE TIME DRIVING MY INTERIOR SYSTEM KEPT NOTIFYING ME THAT THE DOOR WAS OPEN. AFTER MY APPOINTMENT I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME AND HAVE NOT USED MY CAR. THE DRIVER SIDE STILL WILL NOT CLOSE OR LOCK WHICH MEANS I CANT LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE VEHICLE OR USE IT.
ON 6/2/16 I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET IN MY 2013 FORD FOCUS AND THE DRIVERS DOOR FLEW OPEN. AFTER BEING INSPECTED IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE DOOR LATCH HAD BROKEN. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE HEARD FROM MULTIPLE OTHERS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THEM AS WELL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE CONTACT'S GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED AND THE GEAR SHIFTER BECAME STUCK IN SECOND GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BAILEY FORD OF MALONE (11 STATE ST, MALONE, NY 12953, (518) 483-5500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 21866473. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN ROAD MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME VERY TIGHT AND FELT AS IF IT LOCKED UP. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AND THEN THE LIGHT WENT ON SAYING POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE CAR BECAUSE EXTREAMLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. WHEN I WOULD TRY TO TURN THE WHEEL I WOULD HEAR ALMOST LIKE A GRINDING SOUND AND THE WHEEL WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS ALMOST PUSHING BACK AGAINST ME TURNING IT. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND HAS NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES UNTIL THIS.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT RECEIVER BROKE. IT WILL NOT ACCEPT THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. FORD IS CHARGING ME $250.00 TO FIX THIS. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO HAVE A SEATBELT FIXED.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, AND HAD NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL WAS KIND OF TIGHT, AND MAKING LITTLE ADJUSTMENTS DIDN'T FEEL NORMAL. I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, AND THE CAR COULDN'T MAKE A SMALL CURVE, I HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT LANE, ALMOST HIT THE CONCRETE WALL. MY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE IMMEDIATELY . I PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE AS I DID THERE WAS A HORRIBLE GRIDDING SOUND AT ANY LITTLE TURN OF THE WHEEL. THE STEERING BECAME COMPLETELY USELESS, THE CAR WAS DRIFTING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WOULDN'T TURN AT ALL. I PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED IT OFF, WHEN I TURNED IT BACKED ON THE ERROR HAS CHANGED TO COMPLETE SYSTEM FAILURE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
MY VEHICLE USES THE DPS6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD SOFTWARE UPDATES APPLIED TWICE, AND THE CLUTCHES REPLACED TWICE (MAY 2016, OCTOBER 2018). I HAVE ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED ONCE (APRIL 2017). ALL OF THIS HAS BEEN UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE, WHEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY RUNS OUT. AT THE MOMENT, THE TRANSMISSION IS BEHAVING NORMALLY. AFTER THE LAST SET OF CLUTCHES WERE INSTALLED, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO "DRIVE LIKE A 16 YEAR OLD". THAT IS: TO DRIVE AGGRESSIVELY, TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. DOING SO WOULD MEAN I WOULD BE UNABLE TO ACHIEVE THE MPG ANYWHERE CLOSE TO WHAT THE CAR WAS ADVERTISED AS ACHIEVING. MY ANSWER TO THE "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" QUESTION IS THE DATE OF THE FIRST REPLACEMENT OF THE CLUTCHES.
STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CAUSED STICKING STEERING AND A DRY GROUNDING SOUND. PROBLEM OCCURED WHILE DRIVING. MECHANIC SAID IT COULD SEIZE UP THE STEERING.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT SUNNYSIDE MOTOR CO. INC. (944 MAIN ST, HOLDEN, MA 01520, (508) 829-4333). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THERE WERE LIMITS ON WHETHER IT WOULD BE REPLACED BASED ON RPMS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
MY TRANSMISSION,JERKS AND STOP WHEN DRIVING,DOESNT GO UP HILLS VERY GOOD.WHEN TAKING OFF AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHTS,IT DOESN'T WANT TO PULL OFF,IT KINDA STALL.
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED AND FORD SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL AT THIS TIME. IT IS AN ESTIMATED $700 FOR THE REPAIRS WHICH I FEEL IS OUTRAGEOUS SINCE THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE MULTIPLE OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR WERE UNKNOWN. IN ADDITION, UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE INDICATOR WOULD EVENTUALLY TURN OFF; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN CHIP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
HORRIBLE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER / SLIPPAGE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THROUGH THE FIRST FEW GEAR CHANGES. ONGOING ISSUE.
RIGHT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH DOESN'T STAY LATCHED ANYMORE. THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY UNASAFE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR PART.
WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND AT SLOW SPEEDS THE ENGINE STALLED, AND JERKED ESPECIALLY IN CONGESTED HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SUCH AS STOP AND GO SPEEDS. AFTER A NEW CLUTCH WAS INSTALLED BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THE ENGINE NOW SURGES AND HESITATES AT SLOW SPEEDS AND WHEN IN THE PASSING MODE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE ENGINE KEEPS ACCELERATING EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS RELEASED.
I HAVE HAD 5 TRANSMISSION FAILURES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE LAST 3 FAILURES OCCURRED IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS (AND LESS THAN 30 MILES ON THE ROAD!) AND, WHEN THE LAST ONE HAPPENED, MY WIFE AND I HAVE ALMOST CRASHED. WE WERE DRIVING DOWNHILL ON A VERY STEEP ROAD AND SUDDENLY THE CLUTCH DISENGAGED AND WENT TO NEUTRAL RIGHT BEFORE A CURVE. I THINK THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY FORD
AT 9:30PM ON MAY 12TH 2016 I WAS DRIVING ON I-5 THROUGH DOWNTOWN SEATTLE GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AN HOUR IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, WHEN THE GAS PEDAL DROPPED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I COMPLETELY LOST POWER. I HAD TO CHANGE ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS STEADILY LOSING POWER TO EXIT AT MERCER ST. FROM THERE I BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON WESTLAKE AVE WHERE A TOW TRUCK PICKED ME UP. FOLLOWING THAT EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO HAVE THE CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION REPACKED 5 TIMES!!! EACH TIME WHEN THE CLUTCH IS STARTING TO FAIL, IT SHUDDERS, SHAKES AND LOSES POWER. I AM AFRAID OF IT LOSING POWER IN A INTERSECTION AND BEING T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE (THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS OF THESE CARS). FORD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS, HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY AND HERE I AND ABOUT 4 MILLION OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE LEFT WITH LEMONS! HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR FAULTY TRANSMISSION/CLUTCHES FROM 2011-2016 FIESTA/FOCUSES, ALL I WANT IS A DEPENDABLE CAR THAT WILL LAST MORE THAN 4 YEARS AND 68,000 MILES.
TAKATA RECALL PURCHASED CAR TOOK TO DEALER A WEEK AFTER BECAUSE THE GEAR SHIFT WAS MAKING LOUD NOISE UPON REVERSE IN DRIVEWAY TWO WEEKS LATER I HEAD A LOUD POP AND IT BROKE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY DID NOT FIX IT NOW MY LIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF IT SAYS MY TRUNK IS OPEN WHILE IT'S CLOSED AND MY DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK OR STAY CLOSED AND THE CAR MAKES NOISES AS IF THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND IT'S NOT MY DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND MY TRUNK WILL NOT OPEN WITH THE KEY.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NINE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 07/29/16*LJ

IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR BECAME DIFFICULT TO CLOSE AND HAD TO BE SLAMMED SHUT TO ENSURE IT WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES); HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHUCK STEVENS FORD (1304 US-31, BAY MINNETTE, AL 36507) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO JIM COOK FORD (LOCATED AT 620 TROY ROAD, ELBA, ALABAMA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NEW DEALER MAINTAINED 2013 FOCUS TITANIUM FOCUS 6 MONTHS OLD ABOUT 18000 MILES HAD BAD WHEEL BEARING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, AT 46000 TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHAULED DUE TO POOR SHIFTING,AT120000 CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED,AT136000 CAR DIED DUE TO BAD WIRING HARNESS AND FRIED SEVERAL SENSORS, AT 143000 TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED, AT 144000 THE TRANSMISSION MODULE FAILED AGAIN ON A 3 YEAR OLD CAR.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND NOTICED A SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER TO TRANSMISSION VIA THE GAS PEDAL. THE NEXT MORNING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON I-20 MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE MY CAR FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND THEN IT SEEMED TO CATCH ENOUGH FOR ME TO PULL TO THE SIDE. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK. I DROVE IT TO DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THEY CALLED ME MONDAY NIGHT TO SAY IT WAS FIXED. I PICKED IT UP TUESDAY AFTER WORK. I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON WEDS MORNING AND IT FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I PUT MY FLASHERS ON TO AVOID BEING STRUCK. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO START AGAIN AND GO. FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRANSMISSION TO ENGAGE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. I RESTARTED MY CAR AND MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. I DON'T TRUST IT SINCE THEY HAD JUST "FIXED" IT BEFORE AND LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER IT FAILED AGAIN. I TOLD THEM WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THE FIRST TIME IT WAS A SAFETY RECALL. I TRIED TO RECALL ALL I COULD ABOUT WHEN AND WHERE. MY IMPRESSION IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN ALL INSTANCES WHEN I HAD BEEN DRIVING IT FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES. I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC BUT MOVING TRAFFIC THE FIRST TIME AND THE SECOND TIME I WAS IN STOPPED TRAFFIC DUE TO AN ACCIDENT ON I-20 AND THE LAST TIME ALSO IN MOVING TRAFFIC. TIME SEEMS TO BE THE COMMON FACTOR, AT LEAST 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING TIME BEFORE IT SHUTS DOWN.
I HAVE HAD TWO DOOR LATCHES COMPLETELY FAIL ON MY 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE FIRST WAS THE BACK LEFT DOOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. THIS MORNING MY DRIVER DOOR FLUNG OPEN AS I WAS TURNING RIGHT OUT OF A GAS STATION ALMOST HITTING THE CAR NEXT TO ME. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN PARTICULARLY SEEING THAT THIS IS COMMON ISSUE ON THE 2012-2013 FORD FOCUS AND OTHER FORD MODELS. FORD NEEDS STAND UP AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER FORD AT THIS POINT.

NEEDLESS TO SAY THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED TWICE AND CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AND IT STILL SHUTTERS.

TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM LOW SPEEDS. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WITH VARYING PERFORMANCE IN GEAR SHIFTS AND ACCELERATION SPEED. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT, MAKING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO PREDICT . THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, E.G. WHEN PULLING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION FROM A STOP.

2013 FORD FOCUS WITH 39000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NOTICED THE SHUDDER ON ACCELERATION. RETURNED IT TO DEALER, THEY RESET COMPUTER. THE SHUDDER HAS RETURNED.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FAILS TO LATCH
TRANSMISSION JERKS AND HESITATES WHEN PULLING OUT SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT 2 YRS AGO. TALKED TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL. HAD A COMPUTER UPDATE DONE AND STILL THE THE SAME. AS OF RECENTLY THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED I PULLED OUT AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT AND I WAS STUCK SIDEWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD THEN IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I AGAIN SHUT IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 15 MIN TRIED IT AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SEEN ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND FORD IS AWARE AND YET NOTHING . MY FACTORY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND I CANNOT AFFORD REPAIR COSTS THAT ACCORDING TO REPORTS DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEM ANYWAY NOR CAN I AFFORD TO REPLACE THE CAR BECAUSE I OWE MORE THAN IT IS WORTH. ANY INFORMATION OR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
AFTER HAVING THE CAR FROM NEW FOR 3 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS, THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND REPAIRS MULTIPLE TIMES AND WITH A COMPUTER FAILURE FOR THE SHIFTING. THE COMPUTER FAILURE LEFT US STRANDED 80 MILES FROM HOME AND WITH OUT OF STATE FAMILY. IT TOOK 4 COMPLAINTS INITIALLY BEFORE THE DEALER FINALLY LOOKED AND NOTICED LEAKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO GET THE PARTS TO REPLACE THE CLUTCHES, SEALS AND OTHER PARTS AT 30,000+/- MILES. THEN THE COMPUTER FAILURE WAS AT 48,000 MILES. I DON'T TRUST THE CAR NOW DUE TO RELIABILITY ISSUES WITH THE DCT TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER FAILURE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND PULLING OFF TO CHECK THINGS OUT. COMPLETE FAILURE HAPPENED ONCE I TRIED TO GET GOING AGAIN. DEALER SAID THE COMPUTER WAS UNDER A RECALL THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ON.
THE SO CALLED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION , SLIPS AND CHATTERS WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THE ISSUE IS WORST WHEN TRYING TO START FROM A STOP ON ANY INCLINED ROAD OR TRYING TO MAKE A TURN, THE CAR HAS BEEN REFLASHED IN FEB 2016 AS PER THE TSB, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD TO DRIVE IT FOR A MIN OF 600 MILES BEFORE THEY WOULD RETEST IT, THE ISSUE IS IT IS WORSE AFTER THE REFLASH PROGRAMING OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. I HAVE TIMES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE , THAT THE DASH WARNING LAMPS COME ON AND BUZZERS GO OFF, THE CAR WON'T MOVE THEN BANG IT MOVES ,A TOTALLY UNSAFE CAR ,ESP.IN THE EYES OF A NOW RETIRED MASTER AUTO TECH WHO FIXED CARS FOR 45 YEARS.
70 AMP FUSE BLOWS WHILE DRIVING, SEEMINGLY AT RANDOM TIMES. THIS FUSE FEEDS POWER TO A FUSE PANEL LOCATED IN TRUNK. WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS THE RADIO, POWER WINDOWS, POWER LOCKS, POWER SEATS AND HEATED SEAT FUNCTION, PARKING AID SYSTEM, AND SMART KEY SYSTEM DO NOT FUNCTION. DUE TO THE SMART KEY NOT WORKING IT MAKES THE CAR EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO RESTART IF IT HAD BEEN SHUT OFF. IF THE ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO RUN NORMALLY OTHER THAN THE NOTED SYSTEMS. I HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALER TWICE FOR A TOTAL OF TWO WEEKS, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AFTER REPLACING THE FUSE AND DRIVING THE CAR AROUND TOWN. I GOT THE CAR HOME TODAY AFTER IT'S SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALER AND TOOK APART A PANEL IN THE TRUNK THAT COVERS THE SUSPECT FUSE PANEL AND WIRING. I FOUND THAT THE WIRE BUNDLE FOR THIS FUSE BOX RUNS THROUGH A PLASTIC GUARD UNTIL ABOUT A FOOT AWAY FROM THE FUSE BOX, WHEN THE WIRES EXIT THIS GUARD THEY RUN TIGHT AROUND THE EDGE OF THE TRUNK AND COME INTO CONTACT WITH A SHARP METAL EDGE, THIS EDGE HAD CUT THROUGH THE INSULATION OF THE MAIN POWER FEED AND SHORTED OUT. I HAVE ATTACHED PICTURES OF WHAT I FOUND. WHILE THE CIRCUIT WAS PROTECTED BY A 70 AMP FUSE, IT STILL MUST HAVE CREATED A GOOD AMOUNT OF HEAT DURING THE TIME IT WAS SHORTED, AND THERE IS A FELT PANEL NOT A FEW INCHES AWAY.

I CAN'T START THE CAR OR IT RANDOMLY WILL NOT START. I LEAVE HEADING TO WORK EVERYTHING IS OK, CAR STARTS NO PROBLEM. WHEN I GET BACK INTO THE CAR AND TRY TO DRIVE HOME OR STORE. CAR WILL NOT START, DASHBOARD SAYS CAR IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. WHEN I TURN KEY TO THE ON POSITION, I MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT TO OTHER GEARS, STILL DASHBOARD SAYS IT'S IN PARK. MY T-MOBILE MORE THAN LIKELY WENT OUT BUT, THEY CAN'T REPLACE IT UNTIL MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR THE CODES FOR MY TCM. IF THE PROBLEM FOR THE CAR IS KNOWN FOR HAVING BAD SEALS AND TCM, WHY NOT JUST REPLACE IT. THIS WILL BE THE 3 TIME I HAVE TAKING MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THERE ONLY SOLUTION IS REPROGRAMMING THE CAR COMPUTER. I HAVE TAKEN IT TWICE THIS WEEK ALONE.
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING. THE DOOR WILL NO LONGER REMAIN CLOSED. I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE AND STARTED IT UP AND NOTICED THE WARNING LIGHT ABOUT THE DOOR BEING AJAR. I TRIED TO CLOSE IT BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH AND THE WARNING WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT SO I COULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME.
THIS CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2015. TRANSMISSION MAKES LOUD GRINDING NOISES, LOSS OF POWER, STALLING, LOSS OF ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES TO ONLY BE TOLD WE'VE UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION AND IT SHOULD BE OK.....JUST DRIVE THE CAR, LET IT GET USED TO MY DRIVING AND IT WILL BE OK. NOT TRUE! NONE OF THIS HAS HELPED. THE LAST TIME IT WENT TO THE DEALER, IT HAD TO BE TOWED BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T START. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO KEEP SENDING CUSTOMERS ON THEIR WAY WITH VEHICLES THAT THEY KNOW ARE FAULTY.

THE DEALER WAS AWARE THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY CAMPAIGN FOR THE VEHICLE AND TOOK AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME TO PROVIDE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. WHEN THE FAILURE RECURRED, THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A LONG TIME TO PROVIDE THE PART FOR THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT. THE WARRANTY CAMPAIGN HAD SINCE EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY SERVICED FOR THE MANUFACTURER'S POWER TRAIN RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16S30, WHICH ALSO FAILED TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
