THE STEERING ASSIST KEEPS FAILING ON THIS CAR THAT I BOUGH FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER MAKING IT NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY THE ONE TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING IT WAS ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON START UP. FOR HAS RECALLED THIS SAME STEERING ISSUES ON OTHER MODELS WITH THE EXACT SAME ELECTRONIC STEERING WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. BUT NOT THE FORD FOCUS! SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED FROM THIS IF THERE IS NO RECALL. MANY PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD 2K TO FIX IT THEMSELVES. SHAME ON YOU FORD!
TCM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE ERROR CODE CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL AND NOT SHIFT GEARS WHEN DRIVING.
EXTREME SHUDDERING AND JERKING. CLUTCH IS NOT SHIFTING INTO GEARS. THIS CAR IS A HAZARD. COMPLETE LEMON
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated while responding and started jerking and shuddering. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to several dealers where the clutch assembly was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN ON. THEN THEY CAN ON BY THEMSELVES, FUNCTIONED IRRATIONALLY AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THE KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND AN ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND INSTANTLY POWER STEERING STOPPED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION. I HAD TO SLOWLY DRIVE THE CAR BACK TO THE HOUSE WHICH WAS 10 MINS AWAY AND PARK IT WHICH OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT EASY CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES. FORD STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON ELECTRICAL OR POWER STEERING FOR THIS MODEL BUT I HAVE SEEN THAT SOME OTHER MODELS HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND ITS CONCERNING. LUCKILY, I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CAR AND MY CHILDREN WERE NOT PRESENT. I AM ALSO THANKFUL I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS OCCURRED AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS OCCURRED YESTERDAY, 8/26/2020 IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN.
THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS IN FIRST GEAR AND CHANGES HARD TO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHLCLE WAS CHECKED AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CLUTCH PROBLEMS, IN WHICH THE COMPANY WHICH HAD THE CAR KNEW ABOUT. IT IS NOT CLEAR IF THE COMPANY HAD THE CAR WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT PARTICULAR PART 2 YEARS AGO. THE FORD COMPANY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM ALL THE TIME, AND ISSUED A WARRANTY WHICH HAS EXPIRED. IF THE CAR WAS WORKED ON UNDER THE FIRST RECALL, THE WARRANTY SHOULD BE VALID BECAUSE IT WASNT FIXED.
"STEERING ASSIST FAULT".. "STEERING LOSS". VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STEERING LOSS WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH AND NEARLY CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST CAN FAIL WITH OUT WARNING, WHICH RESULTS IN LOSS OF STEERING WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION POTENTIALLY ENDANGERING THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AS WELL AS OTHER MOTORISTS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG WITH MY 3 CHILDREN WHEN MY FORD EXPLORER 2011 SUDDENLY TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED AND WAS INFORMED THE WATER PUMP HAD FAILED AND CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY PAST 85 MILES UNTIL EMPTY. THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDED TO READ HALF TANK IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT A RECALL WAS PRESENT ON THE MODEL AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A RECALL COULD POSSIBLE BE ON THE VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) WHICH THE CONTACT DETERMINED WAS POSSIBLY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.
STEERING FAULT CAN TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM FORD SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SELL THIS KIND OF CAR. I HAVE HAD ISSUES AFTER ISSUES WITH THIS 2013 FORD I HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR OUT OF POCKET AND NOW THIS LESS THAN 47K THIS CAR MODEL IS A LEMON!! AS MUCH TROUBLE THIS CAR HAS CASED ME I SHOULD GET A FULL REFUND AND FORD SHOULD BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK BACK I HAVE 4 FORDS BUT THIS FORD IS MY LAST ONE I WILL BUY A HONDA OR SOMETHING ELSE FORD IS NOT WHAT IT USE TOO BE!
I WENT TO HAVE MY TIRES ROTATED ON MY 2013 FORD FOCUS SE AND I WAS TOLD THAT ALL MY LUGNUTS NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY CHANGED FORM FROM THE HEAT. IN ALL THE CARS THAT I HAVE HAD THIS HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE. NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REPAIRED ONES AND BROCKE AGAIN. 2 TIMES TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND HAD THE CLUCH REPLACED. AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR RUBBER SEAL KEEPS FALLING OFF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRITTS FORD (8000 AUTO DR, RIVERSIDE, CA 92504) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN HARD SHIFTING AND JERKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD TCM AND TWO BAD CLUTCHES. THE BAD TCM WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BY FORD UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 14M02 (10 YR/150K MILE WARRANTY), BUT THE CLUTCHES WERE NOT ELIGIBLE UNDER PROGRAM 14M01 (7 YR/100K MILE WARRANTY) BECAUSE THE CAR WAS 7 YR 5 MO OLD. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE FAILED SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND THESE CLUTCHES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND PROMPTLY REPAIRED IN ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.
MY CAR IS CONSTANTLY HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES THE RADIO WILL CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF PLAYING IT WON'T TURN BACK ON MY CAR LITERALLY HASS TO BE TURNED OFF FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE RADIO WILL COME BACK ON AT ALL AND THEN IT DISCONNECTS AND MAKES A LOUD POPPING SOUND LIKE SOMETHINGS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE IN THE CAR WON'T EVEN BE ON NOR WILL THE KEY BE IN THE IGNITION I FEEL THAT IT IS VERY UNSAFE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THAT KIND OF ANNOYS IS A BIG DISTRACTION AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ALSO WHILE DRIVING MY CAR HAS HESITATED A NUMBER OF TIMES WHILE AT A STOPLIGHT OR IN THE RAIN OR WHILE I'M TRYING TO MAKE A TURN OR WHEN I'M TAKING OFF IT DOESN'T MATTER IT'S LIKE IT DOESN'T GET ENOUGH GAS OR IT HAS PROBLEMS SWITCHING WITH THE RPMS AND THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM THIS IS NOT JUST ONE OR TWO TIMES THIS IS SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE AND IT'S A LITTLE BIT RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING THIS CAR HAS A FIVE STAR RATING DEFINITELY NOT A FIVE STAR RATING CAR CONSIDERING HOW MANY TIMES I'VE BEEN STUCK OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND ALMOST GOTTEN INTO CAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS CARI WOULD REALLY LIKE FOR THIS TO BE INVESTIGATED QUICKLY THIS IS A LIABILITY TO ANYONE WHO OWNS THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR
RECALL PERFORMED ON PURGE VALVE....STILL CANT BREATH INSIDE THE CABIN FROM THE FUMES...WAS TOLD IT THE CAT CONVERTER..... 1550 BEFORE TAX
I WAS DRIVING IN MY CITY AND WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT NOT TOO FAR FROM MY HOUSE. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN TO TURN, AND AS I WAS MID TURN, MY CAR SORT OF STALLED. IT KEPT LURCHING AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS IT WAS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND REVVED UP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT WHEN IT REVVED UP. BY THE TIME THE LIGHT TURNED RED, I WAS STILL MOVING, BUT VERY SLOWLY AND FELT LIKE IT WAS KIND OF COASTING IN AN ABRUPT WAY. LUCKILY I WAS PRETTY CLOSE TO MY PLACE AND COULD GO SLOWLY. WHEN I WENT TO PARK, I TRIED BACKING UP AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE, IT JUST ROLLED FORWARD. I HAD TO REPARK, BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET MY CAR TO BACK UP. I CAME IN AND TOLD MY HUSBAND, AND HE THINKS IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION.
THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER ISSUE. THIS ISSUE WAS RESOLVED THROUGH A COMPLETE REBUILD OF MY TRANSMISSION, BUT THIS ISSUE THAT SHOULD NO LONGER EVEN EXIST, DUE TO NEW PARTS IS STILL THERE. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING. I THINK THAT MY CAR SHOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO FORD'S ONGOING ISSUE. I THINK THEY ARE USING EITHER USED PARTS, OR THEY KNOW THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THIS ISSUES ARE FAULTY AS WELL AND CONTINUE TO DO THIS TO CUSTOMERS.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE LATE JANUARY OF 2020, I WAS AWARE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL BUT WAS ASSURED THAT THOSE PROBLEMS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND AFTER MY FIRST TRIP LONGER THAN 1 HOUR I GOT AN ENGINE LIGHT AND LATER A TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING LIGHT. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AT 55 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR WILL ACT LIKE I WAS FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING WHEN I TRIED TO INCREASE THE SPEED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD COVER THE ISSUES AT FIRST BUT NOW THEY ARE SAYING IS NOT PART OF THEIR WARRANTY. THE CLUTCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE CAR IS STUCK IN THIRD GEAR. IT WILL ONLY START ON THE SECOND TRY. THE CAR HAS 53K MILES AND BOUGHT AT 50K MILES AT 9K DOLLARS.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle would hesitate upon the depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact also stated that the passenger’s side air bag was defective and would not recognize an occupant seated in the passenger’s seat. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they inspected the vehicle and made repairs; however, both failures returned soon after the repairs. The contact stated that she had sent a letter to the manufacturer for assistance but had not received a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON BUSY HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH WHEN IT ABRUPTLY DECREASED IN SPEED. RPMS MOVED BACK AND FORTH UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. Reoccurring shuttering and vibration from the automatic transmission when driving car. Specifically the issues occurs after transmission warms up. Most notable when shifting from 1-2 gear. Occasionally happens at higher speeds too.
I WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND THEN BOOM I GET REAR ENDED BY A TRUCK GOING AT LEAST 60 MPH AND DID NOT HIT THE BRAKES AT ALL AND MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE AND MILES TILL EMPTY IS ALWAYS WRONG SO I CONSTANTLY RUN OUT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING ANYWHERE. WHEN I PUT THE FUEL NOZZLE IN MY TANK IT MAKES A HISSING NOISE (COMPRESSED AIR) OR IT SPRAYS FUEL OUT OF THE TANK. I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WON'T GO OFF.
I TOOK MY FORD FOCUS 2013 INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 2020. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE DOOR LATCHES 20S30 CODE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY TOOK CARE OF IT. I JUST CHECKED ONLINE AND ITS HASNT BEEN FIXED. ITS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND WEVE BEEN DRIVING IT WITH A NEWBORN BABY NOT KNOWING THAT THEY HAVENT FIXED THE RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT WITH NO REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RECENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED IN REVERSE AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED LEO KAYTES FORD WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED. SHE WAS THEN GIVEN AT ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR THE FREE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,260.

I have the DPS6 Transmission from the Michigan plant. My Focus SE started to shudder, jerk, didn't want to shift,. Also, acted like the car was going to stall and when in reverse wouldn't back up. I also had problems with loss of power. I didn't feel safe when driving, what happens when I'm on the road if the car won't shift when in traffic? It's a hazard !! Had a new clutch, seals, gasket, cylinder put in (2023) and now( End of January 2025) it's started again along with shift forks as I was told by the dealership. Ford FIX THE PROBLEM your DPS6 Transmission should be REPLACED !! Are you waiting for deaths to happen ? You've known about this but haven't helped your customers.
POWER TO DASHBOARD WENT OFF, NO EXTERIOR LIGHTS INCLUDING HEAD LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, FLASHERS, SPEEDOMETER, DIRECTIONAL S. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED WAS THE AC. CAR WAS STATIONARY. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE APRIL 2020. DROVE FINE FOR A WHILE AND THEN STARTED TO SHUTTER AND SHAKE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. I LITERALLY HAVE TO FLOOR IT TO GET IT TO QUIT. THIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,188.

I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING LIGHT AND ALSO POWER STEERING THAT'S COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. IT FIRST WENT OUT AND WHEN THE CAR WAS TURN OFF AND BACK ON, IT WORKED BUT WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN INOPERABLE SINCE THE SECOND LOST OF STEERING.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DIAGNOSED IN ORDER TO DISCOVER THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CLUTCH AND THE TRANSMISSION FORK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT CALLED BACK TO CHECK ON THE VEHICLE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS HAD NOT CORRECTED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE DAY IT ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM AT FAULT HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED BY FORD IN A TSB FOR THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS CHAFFING ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. OWNERS ARE NOT NOTIFIED THROUGH MAIL ON TSB'S AND THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED BY THE DEALER SINCE THE TSB WAS ISSUED. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL CONDITION DUE TO THE ACCIDENT POTENTIAL THIS PROBLEM CREATES.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A WIRING HARNESS SHIFTED AND DAMAGED OTHER WIRES WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

I BELIEVE THAT THE GAS GAUGE IS FAULTY IN THIS MODEL OF FORD FOCUS AS IN OTHER YEARS BUT NO RECALL YET FOR MODEL 2013 YEAR. WE WILL MAKE SURE GAS DOESNT GET BELOW 50 MILES AS THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW WITHIN 5 MONTHS AND NOT A COINCIDENCE.
