THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GRAYSON FORD (333 C W STEVENS BOULEVARD, GRAYSON, KY 41143, (606) 474-5414) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HESITATED FOR 10 TO 15 MILES BEFORE IT ACCELERATED AT NORMAL SPEEDS. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COCCIA FORD LINCOLN INC (577 E MAIN ST, WILKES-BARRE, PA 18702, (570) 823-8888) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE NHTSA HOTLINE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,080.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WATERTOWN FORD IN WALTHAN, MASSACHUSETTS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE POWER SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (DAVE SINCLAIR LINCOLN ST. PETERS, 4760 N SERVICE RD, ST. PETERS, MO 63376) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT NHTSA ISSUED AND EXPANDED RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
I RECENTLY BROUGHT MY 2014 FOCUS IN TO THE DEALER, BECAUSE THE TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND THE WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALTHOUGH I PAID THE WHOPPING $421.30 FOR THE REPAIR, INCLUDING A $120 DIAGNOSTIC FEE, I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE UNRELATED TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON A VEHICLE AND ISSUE A RECALL.
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE
WHENEVER I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, MY CAR HESITATES & "JUMPS" A FEW TIMES BEFORE PICKING UP SPEED. IT HAPPENS VERY RANDOMLY FROM WHAT I CAN TELL. SOMETIMES DOING IT OFTEN AND OTHER TIMES IT ACCELERATES NORMALLY.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS OBVIOUS ISSUES. I HAVE TO GUN IT FROM A STOP SO IT DOESN'T CHUG EVERY SINGLE TIME I STOP. ONE TIME I REALLY FEARED FOR MY LIFE WAS WHEN I WAS ON A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE AND SOMEONE SLAMMED THEIR BRAKES ON IN FRONT OF ME. I, IN TURN, SLAMMED MY BRAKES ON TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, WHICH HAPPENED TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. MY CAR WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO GEAR IMMEDIATELY AND TAKE OFF. I WAS STALLED AND HELPLESS. I FELT LIKE A SITTING DUCK READY TO BE RAN OVER. I FEAR FOR ANYTIME I HAVE TO SLAM MY BRAKES ON TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT THAT I WILL AGAIN BE SITTING WAITING TO BE HIT. I BOUGHT MY CAR USED. I TOOK IT IN TO A DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL WORK THAT I ASSUMED WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT NO IT DIDN'T COVER MY ISSUE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD, AND THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD GOTTEN THE TRAMSMISSION FIXED WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THAT THE WARRANTY TIME FOR THE FIX WAS NOW UP AND IT WOULD COST $1200 TO FIX. THEY TOLD ME EVEN IF I PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED, IT WOULD INEVITABLY HAPPEN AGAIN AS THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM EVERYDAY. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET A NEW CAR. IN FACT, IT IS NOW THE ONLY CAR IN OUR HOUSEHOLD AS MY HUSBAND IS DISABLED. I FEEL I'VE BEEN BETRAYED AND LEFT OUT TO DRY. I'M THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. I DO NOT MAKE A LOT OF MONEY AS A SCHOOL SECRETARY. I REGRET PUTTING MY TRUST IN A COMPANY THAT HAD A GREAT REPUTATION BEFORE THIS ISSUE. I WISH I COULD GET MY MONEY BACK AND RETHINK MY PURCHASE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED, SHUDDERED, AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER SAMES BASTROP FORD LOCATED AT 1115 TX-71, BASTROP, TX 78602, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES SHUDDER/TRIED TO STALL, WAS FIXED LAST YEAR AT 4280 MILES. I NOW HAVE 7820 MILES AND TRANSMISSION IT SLIPPING/ CLUTCHES NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. ALL OCCURRENCES WHILE DRIVING HWY/LOW SPEEDS.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle briefly jerked and shuddered, and lost motive power. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality; however, the failure became a regular occurrence. The contact also stated that while driving at night, she became aware that the headlamps provided inadequate illumination, severely compromising nighttime visibility. After a visual inspection of the headlamps, the contact became aware that the housing had deteriorated significantly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a general failure with the transmission but diagnosis for the failure with the headlamps. The contact was informed that the headlamps needed to be replaced. Additionally, the transmission was replaced however, the failure recurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V813000 (Electrical System), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 46,000.
I HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE ABOUT THE 10,000 MILE MARK. THE CAR SHUTTERS AND SHAKES WHEN ACCELERATING AND LOOSES POWER. IT WILL BARELY PULL HILLS AND AT TIMES WHEN DRIVING THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AND THE RPMS HAVE REVED ABOVE 5000 AND IF I DIDN'T SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL I'M AFRAID THE MOTOR WOULD HAVE BLOWN. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THERE HAS BEEN A WARRANTY EXTENSION BY YOU ALL FOR CERTAIN MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE BUT NOT ALL. I WOULD REQUEST YOU GUYS EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO ALL MODEL YEAR FORD FOCUS AS THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE THE CLUTCH.
ABILITY TO TURN HEAVILY DEGRADED; LOUD SQUEALING WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL; STRONG FORCE REQUIRED TO MAKE TURNS; LOSS OF POWER STEERING; UNSAFE TO DRIVE; FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED FAILED RACK AND PINION
THE CAR WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHEN GOING UP HILLS AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION (STOP-LIGHT). THERE WAS ALSO SOME SHAKING AND JERKING. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH (A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ADDRESSED THIS). THE PROBLEM WAS REMEDIED ON 11/9/17. THE CAR IS STARTING TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AGAIN ALTHOUGH THE RATTLING NOISE IS NOT AS LOUD AS IT WAS THE FIRST TIME. THE CAR MAKES A RATTLING SOUND WHEN GOING UP HILLS, AROUND CURVES, AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BEFORE AND I WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND: I WAS TOLD THE RATTLING NOISE WAS "NORMAL". I ASKED FOR THE INVOICE TO SPECIFICALLY STATE, "THE RATTLING NOISE HEARD IS NORMAL" (IN ORDER TO DOCUMENT WHAT IS GOING ON), BUT THEY DID NOT HONOR THE REQUEST.
WHENEVER I TAKE OFF FROM STOPPING THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT'S TRYING TO CATCH UP WITH THE ENGINE AND GEARS. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE AFTER COMING TO A STOP.
AT TIMES THE CAR WON'T START, THEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT STARTS. CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AS IF IT IS OUT OF GAS. CUTS OFF ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED OR LOW SPEED. FIRST THE BATTER AND OIL LIGHT APPEARS IN RED ON DASH WHEN PUSHING THE GAS NOTHING HAPPENS AND IT CUTS OFF. IT STALLS MORE AND MORE, THE FUEL GAGE SOMES GOES PAST FULL OR FLUCTUATES WHEN DRIVING. AFTER PUTTING GAS IN CAR IT STALLS MORE. ALSO, AS I PULL OFF AFTER STOPPED OR INITIALLY, THE CAR HESITATES AND SKIPS AND THE TIRES SKIP WHEN UNTIL IT GETS PAST 15 -20 MILES THEN THE TRANSMISSION IS STEADY WHEN IT'S NOT SALLING.. WHEN IT RAINS THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AND ROOF LEAKS WATER CONSTANTLY WHEN I AM DRIVING IN WATER THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR GETS WET. WHEN IT RAINS AND THE CAR IS PARKED WATER LEAKS AND THE PASSENGER ROOF IS WET FROM FRONT TO BACK AS WELL AS ABOUT 2 INCHES OF WATER ON THE PASSENGER FRONT AND BACK ON THE FLOOR.
I BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH AROUND 28K MILES. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED TWICE ALREADY, AND IT CONTINUES TO ACT UP INTERMITTENTLY. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE SHUDDERING AND JERKING, ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST TWO GEARS, UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE (THROTTLE INPUT GIVES DIFFERENT RESULTS IN DIFFERENT CONDITIONS) FAILURE TO ACCELERATE IN A MANY CIRCUMSTANCES: OFTEN REVERSE TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO ENGAGE, AND IF YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, SUCH AS TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT OR HAZARD, TOO HEAVY OF AN INPUT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO REV VERY HIGH BUT THE CAR DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE. THE UNIT ALSO HAS DELAYED OR "STICKY" DOWNSHIFTS, ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY STOPPING SITUATION. AND OVER THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, FUEL ECONOMY SEEMS TO BE DECREASING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXCLUSIVELY SERVICED BY FORD DEALERS UNDER MY OWNERSHIP. I UNDERSTAND WHAT THE TRANSMISSION IS, HOW IT FUNCTIONS, AND I DRIVE ACCORDINGLY, INCLUDING TRYING TO REV MATCH SHIFTS. IT CONTINUES TO ACT UP MILDLY EVERY DAY, AND SEVERELY ON OCCASION. IT IS BOTH THE NEWEST AND LEAST TRUSTWORTHY VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED, AND I EXPECT AN EXPENSIVE AND CATASTROPHIC FAILURE BEFORE I'VE PAID IT OFF. IN ADDITION, THE HORN HAS FAILED SEVERAL TIMES AND WILL NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and ascending a slope, the transmission was struggling to shift into gears and downshifted abruptly. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the transmission control module(TCM) and the transmission clutches needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the TCM replacement would be covered under Ford Campaign Number: 14M02; however, the transmission clutches replacement was not covered under Ford Campaign Number: 19N08. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
STEERING WHEEL ACTED LIKE IT LOST POWER AND AS I TRIED TO AVOID A CURB, INSTEAD OF AVOIDING THE CURB THE VECHILE HIT THE CURB AND BLEW OUT TWO TIRES AND MORE DAMAGE. I WILL FIND OUT WHEN I GO TO THE FORD DEALER. THIS IS THE SECOND ACCIDENT I HAVE HAD WITH A STEERING ISSUE WITH THIS VECHILE. STERLING HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WHERE IT ACTS LIKE MANUAL IF THE CAR SITS OR AROUND WATER. CAR HAS ALSO HAD CLUTCH AND MULTIPLE SERVICE FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES.
CPSC: A WEEK AGO, MY SON WAS DRIVING APP 45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SUDDENLY THE POWER STEERING LOCKED, JERKING HIS VEHICLE TO THE LEFT, ACROSS THE ADJACENT LANE ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY. HE ATTEMPTED TO REDIRECT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE STEERING WAS LOCKED AND HE COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. *DT THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE BECAME AIRBORNE. THE SEAT BELT LOCKED AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. *JS
WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED MODE THE CAR JERKS THROUGH 1ST AND 2ND GEARS. WHEN ACCELERATING QUICKLY IT IS HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR. TOOK TO DEALER (MAX FORD HARRISONVILLE, MO) AND HE SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRIC CLUTCH. THE 2012 AND 2013 HAD A CAMPAIGN WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 7 YEARS OR 100K MILES TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH. HE DID NOT KNOW WHY MY 2014 WAS NOT COVERED SINCE IT IS THE SAME ENGINE AND CLUTCH. MY CAR HAS 67K MILES SO IS OUT OF THE BASIC WARRANTY. I CALLED FORD AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE A REASON AS TO WHY IT WAS NOT COVERED. SHORT OF SPENDING 1500 DOLLARS TO HAVE CLUTCH REPLACED I AM STUCK. I WAS TOLD BY DEALER THIS WOULD ONLY BE A TEMPORARY FIX ANYWAY BECAUSE THE CLUTCH ONLY LASTS ABOUT 30K MILES.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and was jumpstarted. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while attempting to reverse at 2 MPH, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact parked the vehicle. A mobile mechanic could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the transmission. The vehicle was then towed to a certified transmission specialist, who referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the PCM needed to be replaced; however, the dealer did not replace the PCM although the replacement was covered under warranty. Additionally, the contact stated that the dealer had previously replaced the transmission in 2017. The vehicle was later taken to the second dealer, Metro Ford, Inc. (2860 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64055), where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would partially cover the cost of the repair. The manufacturer also referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
NOTICED FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE, MILES TO EMPTY INACCURATE, ENGINE CUTTING OUT WHILE COASTING TO STOP, FEELING GAS PEDAL UNRESPONSIVE OR SUDDENLY FUELING ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY. LEARNED FROM VEHICLE INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. THAT FUEL TANK IS "DELAMINATED" AND DEFORMED, AND TANK, VALVE AND FUEL PUMP ALL NEED REPLACING. COST: $1500. NOT CONSIDERERED UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH, ACCORDING TO THEM, THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FLAW DESCRIBED BY A TSB YEARS AGO.
I NOTICED THAT MY FORD FOCUS AUTOMATIC WAS DRIVING HESITANTLY/ SHUDDERING/ DELAYED GEAR SHIFTING, THE SAME SET OF PROBLEMS FOR WHICH MY CAR GOT A RECALL REPAIR 13 MOS. AGO IN WHICH THE CLUTCH AND SEALS WERE REPLACED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THE SAME REPLACEMENTS NEED TO BE DONE AGAIN. COST QUOTE: $1500. THEY CLAIM IT'S NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL AND NOT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY.

WHEN I PARKED MY CAR IT WAS IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION. THE CAR SAT FOR A FEW DAYS AND WHEN I WENT TO GO DRIVE IT AGAIN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP WHILE THE CAR WAS ON THEN IT UNLOCKED AFTER A FEW SECONDS. WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL BOTH WAYS THERE WAS A WEIRD NOISE (LIKE TIRE ON THE PAVEMENT BUT WORSE) AND A GRINDING/VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I DROVE THE CAR ANYWAYS THINK MAYBE IT JUST NEEDING TO BE DRIVEN AFTER JUST SITTING. WHILE ONLY A 100 YARDS DOWN THE ROAD (CITY STREET) THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP FOR A SECOND THEY UNLOCKED. HAD MY DAD LOOK AT MY CAR AND DRIVE IT TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T CRAZY AND HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING VISUALLY BUT SAID IT WASN'T RIGHT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. THE DEALERSHIP HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. ALL THE TECHNICIAN AND EVEN THE MANAGER WAS STUMPED. NOT A GOOD SIGN. THEY HAD TO CONTACT THE HELP DESK FOR ASSISTANT. THEY FINALLY GOT AN ANSWER 4 DAYS LATER THAT THE STEERING RACKING PIN WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY OF COURSE SO THE COST OF PART IS GOING TO BE ABOUT $1900 PLUS LABOR SO I LOOKING AT AROUND $2100. I WAS ABLE TO GET COST TO ONLY BE $560 AS A GOODWILL COST FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE ON 9/22/2017, THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION HAS ABRUPTLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY LOST ALL POWER AND ROLLED TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS A WARNING INDICATOR ON THE DASH READS "STOP SAFELY NOW"! ONCE STOPPED, THE CAR IS UNRESPONSIVE AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF OR RESTARTED. ONLY AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF WAITING (5+ MINS), THE CAR RESPONDS AGAIN, ALLOWING A RESTART. THANKFULLY, IN ALL FOUR INSTANCES, I HAVE BEEN TRAVELING ON CITY STREETS AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY, BUT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER AND ONCE STOPPED IT WILL NOT RESPOND.
VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE A 'STOP SAFELY NOW' ERROR APPEARS ON DASHBOARD. WHEN STATIONARY, THIS PREVENTS VEHICLE FROM STARTING. WHEN IN MOTION, POWER STEERING IS DISABLED AND BRAKING IS MORE DIFFICULT. SEPARATELY, THE VEHICLE FREQUENTLY INDICATES AN ABS WARNING LIGHT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN CITY DRIVING. FURTHER ERROR MESSAGES OCCUR REGARDING LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL, USUALLY OCCURRING AT AROUND 5 MPH IN NEIGHBORHOOD.
THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2014 FORD FOCUS SE CAME LOOSE ONE MORNING. NO INDICATION OF LOOSENESS IN THE WEEKS LEADING UP. THE STEERING WHEEL JUST BECAME VERY WOBBLY AND LOOSE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE COMPREHENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER IT EITHER, THE ISSUE: A NUT THAT HOLDS THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE STEERING COLUMN CAME LOOSE. ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN, THERE WAS NOT MUCH LOCTIGHT ON THE BOLT. $200 LATER I HAVE THE SAME NUT TIGHTENED BACK DOWN WITH NEWLY ADDED LOCTIGHT. FAST FORWARD AND ON 3/14/2018 FORD ANNOUNCED A RECALL AFFECTING 1.4 MILLION FORD FUSIONS THAT HAVE THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. YET I HAVE A FOCUS NOT A FUSION. THIS ISSUE IS NOT SECLUSIVE TO JUST THE FUSION LINE UP AND FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL TO PUT THE SAME FIX IN PLACE FOR ALL AFFECTED MODELS. PERHAPS THE LOCTIGHT ISN'T ENOUGH AND THE FOCUS NEEDS THE NEW AGGRESSIVE THREADED BOLT WITH THE NYLON NUT.
WHILE DRIVING, OR WHILE GOING FROM A COMPLETE OR PARTIAL STOP TO ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE HESITATES THEN BUCKS. NO MATTER HOW MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE IS, THE LEVEL OF GAS IN THE CAR, OR THE TYPE OF ROAD BEING DRIVEN, THE CAR HESITATES AND STALLS FOR A MINUTE BEFORE ACCELERATING. UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME WHY THE VEHICLE DOES THIS, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION.

AIRBAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON. VEHICLE IS AT DEALERSHIP WHO STATES IT'S NOT COVERED ON WARRANTY DESPITE PURCHASING EXTENDED WARRANTY GOOD FOR 125K MILES OR 7 YEARS. DIAGNOSIS IS THE "PIGTAIL KIT" NEEDS REPLACED. THEY STATED SINCE IT'S AN "ELECTRICAL" ISSUE AND NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE ACTUAL AIRBAGS, IT'S NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE BASICALLY MEANS THE CAR DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAG, WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP BEFORE FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY "COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON DURING THE TIME THE CAR WAS AT THE SHOP."
VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSITION BUT DOES NOT TRANSITION FROM ONE GEAR TO THE NEXT PROPERLY. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE JERKS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION SWITCHES GEARS. THE "CLUTCH" HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP ONE ALREADY AS "DEFECTIVE". THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. NOW THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN. VEHICLE IS AT DEALERSHIP HAVING THE EXACT SAME REPAIR DONE. MAJOR DEVALUE TO VEHICLE AND CONCERNED THIS WILL JUST HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE THE CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND IS ALREADY HAVING THE THIRD CLUTCH INSTALLED (INCLUDING ORIGINAL).

TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHILE DRIVING
EXCESS CLUTCH SHUDDER DURING ACCELERATION IN LOWER GEARS. CAUSES VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE UNPREDICTABLY WHICH COULD CAUSE TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. FORD REPLACED THE CLUTCH A FEW TIMES. BUT WON'T DO IT AGAIN. THEY SAY TSB 15-0120 WAS SUPERSEDED AND NO LONGER APPLIES TO MY VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. VEHICLE IS AT 89,354 MILES OVER TWO AND A HALF YEARS AND IS DRIVEN CAREFULLY AND SAFELY, AND SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED SO MANY CLUTCHES IN SUCH A SHORT TIME.

TRUNK CAME OPEN WHILE I WAS IN THE CAR WASH. ANOTHER NCIDENT ALMOST CAUSING ME TO WRECK WHEN I WSS BRAKING THE CAR ACCELERATED. DEATH TRAP!
