AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS WHEN STARTING FROM A STANDING STOP AND WHEN ADVANCING THROUGH THE GEARS. VEHICLE WILL DRIFT FORWARD OR BACKWARD WHEN SETTING ON A SLOPE AFTER RELEASING THE BRAKE BUT BEFORE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BUT IS VERY DANGEROUS. DEALER REFUSES TO FIX THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH DOWN AN INCLINE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND TOOK A LONGER DISTANCE TO STOP. IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND ACCELERATED IN EXCESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,002.
CAR HESITATES AND SHUTTERS WHEN DRIVEN. THIS IS WORSE AT LOWER SPEEDS OR WHEN TURNING. THIS HAPPENS BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS. IT'S BEEN SERVICED 4 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, EACH TIME THE MODULE REQUIRES REPROGRAMMING, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. RECENTLY THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAD BEEN ON. WE'VE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED IT, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS TURNED ON AGAIN ONLY 5 DAYS AFTER THE LAST REPAIR. I'VE CHECKED AND THE FOCUS HAS 5 DIFFERENT ACTIVE RECALLS, 2 OF THEM WITH REGARDS TO POWER TRAIN, BUT THIS CAR SEEMS TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THEM AT THIS TIME.
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle had been shuddering, hesitating, and lunging while driving. The vehicle was taken to several unknown dealers and the dealers informed the contact that it was a known failure and that the TCM was reprogramed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the transmission clutch was replaced in 2019; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The check engine warning light and the warning message "Service transmission immediately" illuminated. The contact's wife was able to restart the vehicle after several minutes and veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer - Pacifico Ford (6701 Essington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153) who diagnosed that the transmission control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer repaired the vehicle under an unknown extended warranty; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was then taken to Lawrenceville Ford Service (2920 Brunswick Pike, Lawrence Township, NJ 08648) who diagnosed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not cover the repair because the transmission clutch was not covered by the extended warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE STARTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,343.
I HAVE HAD MY 2014 FORD FOCUS FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW AND IT HAS BEEN GIVING ME NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCHES. THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IT WAS A LITTLE AFTER 5 MONTHS OF HAVING THE CAR I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND OUT OF NOWHERE IT DIED ON ME SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS IN MOTION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN IT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO TURN IT ON AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD MY COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. AFTER DOING THIS MY CAR WAS FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 2 MONTHS THEN IT STARTED TO SPUTTER, HESITATE WHILE TURNING AND IN MOTION AND ALSO NOT SHIFTING GEARS CORRECTLY. I TOOK IT AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME MY CLUTCHES NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WITH MY TYPE OF CAR. I WAS CONFUSED ABOUT THEM TELLING ME THIS BECAUSE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE HAPPENING ALL THE TIME. I GO THE CAR BACK WORKED FINE FOR ANOTHER 3 MONTHS THEN THE SAME THING AGAIN WITH THE TRANSMISSION. TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT I NEEDED THE NEW CLUTCHES IN MY CAR AND I SAID NEW CLUTCHES? WHY WAS I NOT GIVEN A RECALL ON MY OLD ONE OH BECAUSE WE ONLY CHANGE THEM OUT IF YOU COME IN AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE OLD ONES WHAT?? REALLY!! SO GOT MY CAR BACK AND THIS TIME 2 MONTHS LATER TODAY 1/23/16 I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WAS MID U-TURN AND MY CAR TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF MY U-TURN IN ON COMING TRAFFIC ALMOST KILLING ME!!! I HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE DELAERSHIP YET BUT AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS WITH FORD CORPORATE TO FIX THIS NOTHING IS HAPPENING THEY ARE NOT TAKING BLAME FOR ANYTHING AND REFUSING TO RECALL THESE CARS. READING ONLINE I'M HAPPY TO SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THEY TELL THIS TOO AND IT REALLY MAKES ME UPSET, ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY BRAND NEW CAR BECAUSE OF THIS PLEASE HELP ME AND EVERYONE ELSE.
WE BOUGHT OUR 2014 FORD FOCUS IN MARCH 2015.NEVER AGAIN! AMONG OTHER SMALL PROBLEMS THAT COST A FORTUNE TO REPAIR WE NOW WERE DRIVING WHEN OUR REAR PASSENGER DOOR FLEW OPENED. WE TOOK IT RIGHT THEN TO THE DEALER DICK'S MACKENZIE FORD IN HILLSBORO,OREGON AND THE PRICE TO FIX THE DOOR LATCH IS $560.WE ARE LOOKING AT OTHER OPTIONS FOR THE REPAIR AND THEN SELL THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.. WE ARE APPAULED AT THE PRICE AND BECAUSE WE HAVE 40,000 MILESIT IS OUT OF WARRANTY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE IT HAS A 'HARD START' AND IDLES EXTREMELY ROUGH FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 18200 MILES. IT HAS DONE THIS SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN JUNE 2014. I'VE HAD ENOUGH CARS TO KNOW THAT THIS IS INDEED NOT "NORMAL". IT FEELS LIKE THE IDLE IS NOT SET RIGHT AND IT VIBRATES ENOUGH THAT YOU CAN FEEL IT WHILE IN PARK AND IDLING. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO IS OBVIOUSLY NOT A MECHANIC THAT THIS IS 'NORMAL' FOR THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE TO VIBRATE. ALSO THE CAR CONTINUOUSLY SHUDDERS, LURCHES AND LOSES POWER ON ACCELERATION AS A RESULT OF A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AT 9300 MILES. NOTE TO EVERYONE, UPON TAKING THE CAR TO THE GARAGE FOR THE FUEL PUMP RECALL IN DEC 2015, THE CAR HAD TO BE PUT IN THE GARAGE AGAIN IN JAN 2016 FOR THE PURGE VALVE TO BE REPLACED, WHICH RESULTED IN MY TANK BECOMING DEFORMED (DEFORMED MEANS IT SHRINKS, BUT NO ONE BOTHERED TO EXPLAIN THAT TO ME). WITHIN A MONTH (AFTER 4 REPEATED TRIPS TO THE GARAGE FOR THE SAME ISSUES: DISTANCE TO EMPTY CALCULATIONS AND MILES PER GALLON WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE, NO GAS MILEAGE TO SPEAK OF BUT EACH TIME WAS TOLD THAT WHEN DIAGNOSTICS WERE PERFORMED MY CAR WAS GETTING 35 MPG). HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT GAS IN IT, I HAD A 12 GALLON TANK BEFORE PURGE VALVE WAS REPLACED IN JAN 2016, 9 GALLONS WAS ALL IT WOULD HOLD AND THE GAUGE SHOWED FULL. THE THE CAR USED 1/4 TANK OF GAS TO DRIVE 27 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS STILL SHUDDERING AT A STOP LIGHT & LURCHING WHEN ACCELERATING AND FEELS AS THOUGH THE TIRES ARE GRABBING FOR TRACTION. BUT IT IS WITHIN 'SPECS' ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIANS. I HAVE HAD THE FOLLOWING REPLACED: 2ND FUEL TANK; 3RD FUEL PUMP; 2ND PURGE VALVE; AND 2ND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND THE CAR ISN'T EVEN 2 YRS OLD YET AND HAS UNDER 20,000 MILES. IT IS A ROAD HAZARD. I'VE HAD IT TO 3 DIFFERENT GARAGES AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. CONTACTED FORD (DONT BOTHER), I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED THE BBB.
THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT USED WITH 22218 MILES ON IT ON 12/29/2015. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. BY THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY 2016, THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. BEFORE WE MADE FIRST PAYMENT ON 2/9/2016, THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND SHUDDERING GOING INTO SECOND GEAR. HERE IT IS 5/5/2016 AND WE ARE SUPPOSEDLY STILL WAITING ON A PART TO COME IN, WE FEEL LIKE WE HAVE BOUGHT THEIR PROBLEM AND WE ARE ON OUR OWN, AND THIS COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE IN SAFETY WHEN YOUR CAR WILL NOT GO. FROM DEAD STOP, SHIFTING FROM FIRST, GOING INTO SECOND IT SHUDDERS, HESITATES, IN TRAFFIC, IT'S REALLY BAD. THIS WAS BOUGHT FOR MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER TO GO TO COLLEGE, NOW I'M WORRIED ABOUT HER SAFETY IN IT.

THE DEALER REPLACED THE DOOR INSULATION; HOWEVER, THE ISSUE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. WHILE COMMUTING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY AND COMING TO A STOP DUE TO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AT APPX 50MPH. MY WIFE SAW THE IMMINENT IMPACT A SPLIT SECOND BEFORE IT HAPPENED & TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AS HARD AS POSSIBLE SO AS NOT TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER (APPX 20-25 FEET AWAY). NONETHELESS, THE IMPACT WAS TOO GREAT. IT TOTALLY DESTROYED THE REAR OF OUR CAR AND BLEW OUT THE BACK GLASS. IT ALSO PUSHED OUR CAR INTO THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH DAMAGED THE RIGHT FRONT, BENT THE HOOD IN THE FRONT MIDDLE SECTION, MADE THE UNDERCARRIAGE POP OUT, AND BROKE THE RADIATOR. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN ADDITIONAL FRONT END DAMAGE BUT THE HOOD WAS NOT OPENED AT THE TIME. WHAT'S WORSE, IN ALL OF THIS, THE VEHICLE'S AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED! SO, MY WIFE HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL TWICE. MOREOVER, THE SEAT BACK BROKE WHICH CREATED A POTENTIALLY PARALYZING AND/ OR DEADLY CONDITION DUE TO HER BODY'S MOMENTUM AS OPPOSED TO THE CAR'S MOMENTUM (I.E., SHE HAD NO BACK STABILITY)! LASTLY, HER KNEES WERE JAMMED INTO SOME PORTION OF THE DASH/ STEERING COLUMN. MY WIFE HAS SUSTAINED SOME INJURIES AND WE ARE CURRENTLY GETTING HER TREATED.
THE 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS SEVERAL ISSUES. THE POWER SHIFT TRANSMISSION IS A COMPLETE DISASTER. IT JERKS, BUCKS, SHUDDERS, DELAYS SHIFTING, AND HAS AN ERRATIC SHIFTING PATTERN. THE UNEVEN AND ERRATIC SHIFTING CAUSES GAS MILEAGE TO FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 20 MPG AND 28 MPG.(ACTUAL NOT AVERAGE-AVERAGE IS SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 23 AND 25 MPG). THERE IS NEVER BETTER GAS MILEAGE THAN 28 MPG. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 4 CYLINDER VEHICLE THAT IS ADVERTISED AS 33 AVERAGE MPG. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME REGISTERING, FILING FOR, AND DOCUMENTING NECESSARY REPAIRS FOR THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AND EVENTUAL ARBITRATION. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH AND WE ONLY HAVE ONE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII, WHERE I LIVE. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE INCONVENIENCE AND I HAVE TO RENT A CAR EVERY TIME I TAKE THE FOCUS IN FOR REPAIRS. FORD HAS REPLACED THE CLUTCH WHICH HAS IMPROVED THE SHIFTING TO SOME DEGREE, BUT NOT MITIGATED THE PROBLEMS, COMPLETELY. THE CAR IS GOING IN FOR A THIRD EVALUATION AS IT IS STILL STAYING IN FIRST GEAR FOR AN INAPPROPRIATELY LONG TIME AND BUCKING AT LOW SPEEDS. I HAVE REQUESTED THAT FORD REPLACE OR REPURCHASE THIS VEHICLE. SO FAR, SO BAD. THE "DEAL" FORD OFFERED ME WAS NOTHING, AFTER I FILED MY PAPERWORK. I AM WAITING TO BE ASSIGNED AN ARBITRATOR, BUT THAT HAS BEEN STALLED BY A THIRD PARTY IN COLORADO, WHO WANTS THE RULES OF ARBITRATION CHANGED. I HAVE READ THE ENTIRE ARBITRATION DOCUMENT AND IT FAVORS FORD, OF COURSE. HOWEVER, IF THEY OFFER TO REPURCHASE OR REPLACE THIS VEHICLE, I WOULD BE AGREEABLE TO THAT. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MORE THE COLORADO PEOPLE WANT, BUT IT IS STALLING ALL OF US WAITING FOR OUR CHANCE AT ARBITRATION. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM STUCK WITH THIS MAJOR LEMON VEHICLE, WHICH, IS COVERED UNDER HAWAII'S LEMON LAW AS WELL. FORD MANUFACTURED A SUB-STANDARD VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO TAKE IT BACK.
WHEN I BEGIN TO PULL OFF THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES TO GO INTO THE GEARS ALONG WITH JERKING AND CHUGGING NOISES, THIS HAPPENS WITH EVER STOP AND GO MOTION.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR THE RECOMMENDED RECALL IN REGARDS TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT 20 MILES THE CAR CONTINUES TO REV AND STALL WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. NOW I AM TAKING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY WILL RE-TEST IT EVEN WHEN THOUGHT THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE DEALERSHIP MADE ME CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY BECAUSE THEY DID ALL THEY COULD DO. NOW FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS MAKING ME GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED QUICKLY AS NOW I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE.
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Ford focus. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 65 MPH, the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle was jerking. The vehicle then decelerated to 5 MPH with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact's wife veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. Upon restarting the vehicle, the failure persisted, and the vehicle would not exceed 20 MPH while driving. The contact's wife was able to drive to her destination. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module (TCM) needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 14M02. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was on back order for 16 months. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 19,972.

I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE WHEN I RECEIVED A "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING FROM THE CAR. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN POWER TO THE DRIVETRAIN AND I WAS STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND UNABLE TO MOVE. LUCKILY THIS WAS ON A QUIET STREET BUT IF THIS HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.
THE TRANSMISSION STUTTERS ON STARTS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE GONE FOR REPAIRS, SECOND TIME THE DEALER NEEDS TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THIS PART WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2015. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, PART IS ON BACK ORDER AGAIN.
THE CAR HESITATES EVERY TIME YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE. IT DOES THIS WHEN YOU ARE STATIONARY AND FIRST STARTING OUT AND WHEN YOU ARE ALREADY IN MOTION. SOMETIMES IT'S SO PRONOUNCED THAT I'M AFRAID IT'S GOING TO STALL COMPLETELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE 1ST DAY I BOUGHT IT AND THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT THAT'S THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE. SOMETHING ABOUT A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRANSMISSION.

DESIGN FLAW IN "DOUBLE CLUTCH" AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT CAUSES "SHUDDER" AT LOW SPEEDS, SLIPPING ON HILLS, AND "JERKING" AT HIGHER SPEEDS. MOST APPARENT AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN, OR ON A HILL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSE TO FIX, BEYOND A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION MODULE. ONGOING.
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW AUGUST 2, 2014. I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. MY VEHICLE WENT IN FOR REPAIRS AT 13,399 MILES. THEY RESET TCM/PCM AND ORDERED A NEW CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. 2 MONTHS LATER IT FINALLY CAME IN AND WAS REPLACED WITH A LITTLE OVER 17,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS SINCE MESSED UP AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP ON JANUARY 4, 2016 AND THEY HAD IT FOR A DAY. I PICKED IT UP AGAIN ON JANUARY 5, 2016 AND WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND REQUESTED A BUY BACK AND THEY REFUSE. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. PLEASE DO SOMETHING.
I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 2012 FORD FOCUS, WHICH LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BRIDGE AFTER A RECALL PART BROKE. (FORD IN THE LETTER SENT ON THE RECALL STATED THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PART THAT BROKE UNTIL IT BROKE). SO I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THAT DAY HAPPENED. THAT WAS THE SECOND STRIKE AGAINST THEM. I HAD ALREADY BEEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS AND REPROGRAMMING SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS I OWNED THE CAR. THEN THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AND TCM; KEPT MY CAR FOR 3-4 DAYS. SO AFTER ALL THAT WAS FIXED I TRADED AND GOT A 2014 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK. ALL THAT STUFF WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BEHIND ME AND NO GLITCHES IN THIS YEAR. AFTER 15,000 MILES WAS PUT ON THE CAR THE CLUTCH STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN AND PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. THE SHUTTERING AND STUTTERING BECOME SO BAD I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS GOING TO FALL APART. FROM A DEAD STOP TO A GO (20-30 MPH) IT HAD SUCH A HARD TIME SHIFTING GEARS THAT THE RPM'S WOULD JUST TAKE OFF. GRINDING NOISES UNDER THE CAR UPON ACCELERATION. WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL IT WOULD JUST LOSE SPEED ON IT'S OWN, CRUISE SET FOR 60MPH AND RPM"S WOULD JUST DROP OUTTA NO WHERE LIKE THE CAR WAS ABOUT TO STALL. TOOK IT IN AND SURE ENOUGH NEW CLUTCH AND SEALS WERE ALREADY NEEDED (THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL 2015 AND THE CLUTCH WENT OUT IN JANUARY 2016). THEY KEPT THE CAR A WK (AT NO TIME WAS I OFFERED A RENTAL) HAD TO BORROW MY PARENTS VEHICLES TO GET AROUND; MY HUSBAND NEEDED HIS CAR. HAD THE CAR BACK A WK AND HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT IN TO BE REPROGRAMMED B/C YET AGAIN WE ARE HAVING SHUTTERING AND STUTTERING ISSUES AS WELL AS PROBLEMS UPON ACCELERATION. WHEN I CHECK 2014 FOCUS RECALLS THERE ARE SOME MAJOR RECALLS. I WAS ISSUED A RECALL ON MY VIN# FOR THE TCM ALREADY. THEY HAVE INCREASED MY WARRANTY TO 100,000 B/C THEY KNOW I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE REPAIRS AND THE SERVICE GUY STATED REPLACING THE CLUTCH IS ONLY TEMPORARY, I WILL BE BACK FOR A NEW ONE AGAIN AND AGAIN.
OWNED CAR 6 MONTHS AND LOVE IT, ESPECIALLY THE HANDLING, UNTIL: AT ABOUT 8500 MILES, I STARTED THE CAR (ON A SUNDAY MORNING-WHY I DIDN'T CALL THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY) PUT IT IN GEAR, PULLED FORWARD IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. I BACKED UP AND PULLED FORWARD AGAIN, AND STILL ZERO STEERING WHEEL TURN WAS POSSIBLE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, PULLED THE KEY OUT, PUT THE KEY IN AND STARTED IT AGAIN. SAME ACTIONS, SAME RESULT. I USED OUR PICKUP TRUCK FOR THE DAY INSTEAD. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN WHEN I GOT HOME AND THE STEERING WORKED NORMALLY-I PULLED FORWARD AND BACK IN MY DRIVEWAY AND PARKED IT. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR STARTED JUST FINE BUT AGAIN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND ARRANGED A FLAT BED RIDE LATER THAT DAY. WHEN THE FLAT BED DRIVER STARTED TO CAR TO DRIVE IT ONTO HIS RIG, HE REMARKED THAT THE CAR WAS ACTING JUST LIKE A PROBLEM THEY'RE HAVING IN THE 2015 F150, AND TWO-HANDEDLY YANKED MY STEERING WHEEL HARD TO THE LEFT, STILL WITH NO RESULT. THE WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE, AND I WONDER WHAT ELSE HE BROKE IN HIS "BIGGER HAMMER" APPROACH. HE ADJUSTED THE POSITION OF HIS TRUCK TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR ONTO IT WITHOUT ANY STEERING AVAILABLE. I REPORTED THE FLAT BED DRIVER'S ABUSE OF MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CAR NOW SITS AWAITING SERVICE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN EXCESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTING GEAR AND THE LINKAGE IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND MULTIPLE WARNINGS WERE DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS SHIFTED IN PARK AND THE REVERSE POSITION AND FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF THOSE POSITIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND GRINDS CAUSING THE CAR TO SOMETIMES SHAKE AND VIBRATE. DOWNSHIFTS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE CAR TO SEEM TO LOSE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND I AM SOMETIMES FRIGHTENED TO DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR IN NOVEMBER, 2015 BUT FORD HAS YET TO REPAIR IT 3 MONTHS LATER. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE AND I FEAR FOR MY LIFE WHILE DRIVING IT. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 26000 MILES ON IT AND IT NOW HAS 32000 MILES.
FROM THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE (DEC. 2014) THERE HAVE BEEN REPEATED ISSUES WITH POWER. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTHS IT POWERED DOWN ON THE FREEWAY - WITH THE DASHBOARD'S POWER FLICKERING ON AND OFF AND THE CAR PUT PUTTING TO A NEAR STOP. WE WERE ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH AND IT WAS NOT A STEEP INCLINE. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH I PURCHASED THE CAR THEY DIDN'T REPORT ANY RECALLS OR MALFUNCTIONS, WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATED NEEDED. ON AND OFF FOR MONTHS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR MY CAR WOULD STRUGGLE WHEN ACCELERATING AND SHAKE. ALTHOUGH I BROUGHT IT IN AND CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS SAFE AND OPERABLE. FINALLY IN JANUARY 2016 I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN (AFTER HAVING GONE IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR INSPECTIONS AND FLUID CHANGES) WHEN I HAD EXPERIENCED STALLING ENOUGH TIMES TO FRIGHTEN ME AND AFTER A WHOLE DAY WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH. IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS!!! I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A LOANER OR RENTAL VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THERE IS A MALFUNCTIONING CLUTCH THAT CONTROLS THE POWER OF THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD STALL AT ANYTIME RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. MY CAR IS STILL SHAKING AND WORRIES ME TO DRIVE EVERY SINGLE TIME; I DO NOT HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE OR THE MONEY TO PAY FOR ONE NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO. THE PART HAS BEEN "ON ORDER" FOR MORE THAN A MONTH. I AM APPALLED AT THE WAY THAT THIS SITUATION IS - OR RATHER IS NOT BEING HANDLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER UNKNOWN FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH. AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE FOR THE REPAIR SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TAKATA RECALL.... ON TAKE OFF CAR VIOLENTLY JERKS AT 2000 RPMS AND CONTINUES TO JERK INTEL 4000-5000 RPMS THEN SHIFTS GEARS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE, HAS BEEN DOING THIS WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 01/01/2016 AND IS GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Over the years, the contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer for multiple repairs; however, the failure persisted. The contact was informed that the transmission control module was the cause of the failure. The dealer then informed her that parts were on back order and that due to a limited amount of parts available, the transmission control module might never become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given a case number. The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
WHILE ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC YESTERDAY EVENING A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY PANEL "STOP SAFELY NOW". I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE ROADWAY IMMEDIATELY DUE TO TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE ENGINE OPERATING INDICATOR (A GREEN CAR WITH ARROWS POINTING FORWARD AND BACK) WAS NO LONGER ON BUT ACCESSORIES ON THE CAR WORKED PROPERLY (E.G. HEADLIGHTS, POWER STEERING, ETC) I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE CAR WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART BUT CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY PUSH THE CAR OFF OF THE ROADWAY INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR'S IGNITION TURNED OFF ONCE I WAS BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR CLOSED. AFTER THE 1,000 MILES, IT WENT BACK TO THE SHAKING, VIBRATING & HESITATING. 2ND TIME BRINGING IT IN, I HAD THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RIDE WITH ME & HE FELT THE SHAKING, SO, AGAIN, THEY RESET THE SYSTEM AGAIN, GAVE ME THE INFO ABOUT WAITING 1,000 MILES TO RESET. AFTER THE 1,000 MILES, IT AGAIN, BEGAN SHAKING, VIBRATING & HESITATING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE SERVICE MANAGER GAVE ME HIS CARD & SAID IF I HAD ANY PROBLEMS, GIVE HIM A CALL. 3RD TIME BRINGING IT IN, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD A MECHANIC RIDE WITH ME. SAID HE FELT THE VIBRATIONS, SHAKING, HESITATION. WHILE AT THE SERVICE DESK, HE THEN HAD THE AUDACITY TO TELL ME THAT THE PROGRAM RELEARNS BAD BEHAVIORS INSTEAD OF THE GOOD ONES. IT SHOULDN'T MATTER IF I'M A GOOD OR BAD DRIVER, THE CAR SHOULD RUN PROPERLY. AND NOW (3/21/16), I HAVE FELT THE WORST SHAKING, VIBRATING & HESITATION EVER. I FELT INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TODAY. PLUS I HAD A PASSENGER IN MY CAR THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME. I REALLY HOPE THAT THIS ISSUE CAN GET RESOLVED BEFORE SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENS.

FORD EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON CERTAIN TRANSMISSION PARTS TO 100,000 MILES. THE PROBLEMS HAVE COME BACK, AND FOR FOUR MONTHS I'VE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS FIXED. EVERY TIME THEY TELL ME THAT FORD WILL NOT SEND PARTS TO DEALERS SO THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ARE RAMPANT WITH THE AUTOMATIC DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSIONS FORD INSTALLED IN FOCUSES AND FIESTAS, AND IT'S TIME FOR A RECALL. THESE ARE DANGEROUS PROBLEMS, AND FORD HAS CHOSEN TO REMAIN SILENT AND REFUSE TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS.
PLEASE ASSIST WITH INVESTIGATING THE FORD DSP6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IN THE FOCUS AND FIESTA. THIS TRANSMISSION IS UNSAFE FOR OPERATION. DEFECTS CAN CAUSE LOSE OF POWER WHILE ACCELERATING, DELAYED SHIFTING WITH GRINDING AND SHUDDERING, SLIPPING INTO NEUTRAL, AND SURGING/ DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT LOW SPEEDS. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS OFFERED SEVERAL "BANDAIDS" NONE OF WHICH HAS PERMANENTLY CORRECTED THE ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERS FROM POOR DRIVEABILITY AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I AM AFRAID THAT THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION/ SHUDDER/ POWERTRAIN STUMBLE WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ONE DAY. I HAD MY CLUTCH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER THE SYMPTOMS HAVE RETURNED. FORD HAS BEEN LESS THAN RESPONSIVE TO ITS CUSTOMERS, DEALER CAN BE DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH AS THE ISSUES ARE NOT ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY REPRODUCIBLE. CAR HESITATES, SHUDDERS, FAILS TO MOVE, ENGINE REVS WITHOUT MOVING, SOUNDS TERRIBLE AT TIMES..
FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION 0-30 SEEMS TO BE WHERE IT'S AT. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS, REVS RPMS, DE-ACCELERATES, SLOW TO ACCELERATE TO SPEED, AND HAS A METAL GRINDING SOUND ON ACCELERATION. THIS IS NOT ONCE OR TWICE THIS IS EVERY TIME THAT THE CAR HAS TO SLOW DOWN AND PICK BACK UP SPEED. I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC B/C I DON'T KNOW THAT MY CAR WILL MAKE IT UP TO SPEED FAST ENOUGH TO NOT GET ME REAR-ENDED. THE CAR SHAKES LIKE IT'S GOING TO FALL APART WHEN WE ACCELERATE AND ALMOST FEELS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO INTO GEAR. THIS IS THE SECOND FORD VEHICLE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY FIRST WAS A 2012 THAT HAD A RECALL FORD WOULDN'T HONOR UNTIL THE PART BROKE AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON A BRIDGE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT. THIS IS A 2014 THAT I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE AROUND IN WITH ME CHILD B/C IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS GOING TO DROP MY TRANSMISSION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I'M ALSO READING THAT IT HAS PROBLEMS BRAKING WITH THIS ACCELERATION ISSUE AND WILL JOLT OUT INTO TRAFFIC AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS IS FROM EVERY STOP GETTING READY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. MY CAR ONLY HAS MAYBE 10,500 MILES ON IT AND I'VE ONLY HAD IT MAYBE 8 MONTHS. FORD SAYS THEY WILL KEEP FIXING IT IF IT BREAKS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT MY WARRANTY IS ONLY SO LONG THEN I HAVE TO PAY FOR FORDS' MESS UP OUT OF MY POCKET. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY.
MY CAR HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN DECEMBER 2013. IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, SLIP WHEN SHIFTING OR WHEN DOWNSHIFTING TO COME TO A STOP, BOG DOWN WHEN TAKING OFF AND ALSO JERK WHEN SHIFTING AFTER TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE ISSUES AND THEY FIXED THE CLUTCH ONCE BUT EVEN SINCE THEN IT STILL HAS ISSUES SHIFTING. ALSO SINCE THEN I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AS THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT FOR MY CAR WHICH THE DEALERSHIP WAS SURPRISED BY BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST OF THIS RECALL THEY HAD SEEN FOR THIS CAR. I'VE ALSO CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS TWICE PERSONALLY TO SEE ABOUT A BUY BACK OR TRADE DEAL AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR ME AT THIS TIME. THIS CAR IS A BRAND NEW, JUNK, SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TAKEN OFF THE ROAD BUT FORD WILL DO NOTHING. I'M DISABLED SO IF IT CAUSES A CRASH I WILL DIE INSTANTLY AND THEN THEY WILL HAVE A BIG LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS FROM MY FAMILY. I'VE ALSO CONTACTED ATTORNEYS AND AM PART OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS CAR AS WELL AS SPEAKING TO A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY. ALL THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO IS STEP UP AND EXCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND MAKE IT RIGHT BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING.

BROUGHT IN FOR RECALL AND HAD TRANSMISSION RE PROGRAMMED, BUT IS NOW WORSE THAN BEFORE. DID RESEARCH ONLINE REGARDING ISSUE AND FOUND MANY WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. VEHICLE PURCHASED 4/14 AND HAS LESS THAN 15K MILES. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO FUEL PUMP RECALL THAT I RECEIVED 11/15 AND PARTS FOR THAT RECALL ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE 3/16.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact released the accelerator pedal for a moment and then depressed the accelerator pedal again and the vehicle responded. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The contact stated that the transmission clutch was replaced several times and the transmission control module (TCM) was updated several times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving and shifting between gears. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle taken to the dealer on two occasions, and the transmission clutch was replaced and the PCM was reprogrammed twice; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond upon shifting into reverse (R) and the engine revved. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as if the transmission was in neutral(N). The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Lynch Ford of Mukwonago (1015 Main St, Mukwonago, WI 53149) where it was diagnosed that the TCM had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission was not shifting as intended and the vehicle was shuddering while shifting between gears. The message "Transmission Overheated" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer, Griffin Ford (1940 E Main St, Waukesha, WI 53186), where it was diagnosed and the transmission actuator was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle with the ignition key, the vehicle failed to start at first attempt, and there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,661.

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SHUDDERING WAS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000.
