CPSC#I11C0348A. 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE CAR HAD A FLAT TIRE. ALSO STATED ON THE WAY GOING HOME THE CHECK BREAK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. ALSO THE CAR MADE A GRINGIND NOISE AND SHUT DOWN. *LN
PIRELLI TIRES ON 2006 FORD FREESTYLE LTD AWD- EXCESSIVE PREMATURE TIRE WEAR ON INSIDE PORTION OF TREADS. ONLY 22,000 MILES ON VEHICLE AND STEEL CHORDS ARE PROTRUDING FROM TIRE AND CAUSING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. DEALER WAS THE EXCLUSIVE SERVICE PROVIDER ON THE VEHICLE BUT NEVER INDICATED ANY EXCESSIVE WEAR UNTIL TIRE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. STATED CAUSE WAS WHEEL TOE OR CAMBER BEING TOO MUCH. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT DETERMINE WHETHER DRIVING STYLE OR FACTORY DEFECT IS TO BLAME. HOWEVER, FOR A TIRE RATED TO WEAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES TO BE WORN OUT IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS IS UNACCEPTABLE. MANUFACTURER CLAIMS THIS IS NOT COVERED IN ANY WARRANTY. NO PRORATING OR COMPENSATION TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS OFFERED. *TR
I OWN A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. I HAVE CONTINENTAL CONTI-TOURING CT95 ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ON MY CAR. THESE TIRES HAVE NO LASTED NEARLY AS LONG AS EXPECTED (THEY'RE RATED AT 60,000 MILE TIRES). AT 14,000 MILES I HAD 5/32NDS OF TREAD WEAR LEFT. AT 26,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES AS THEY WERE COMPLETELY BALD (LESS THAN 2/32NDS OF WEAR LEFT) AND THE TREAD WEAR WARNING BARS WERE SHOWING. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND STATES THE TIRES LAST UNTIL THEY LAST. *TR
I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS. I HAVE A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. FIRST COMPLAINT I PURCHASED MY FREESTYLE IN LATE DECEMBER 2005 AND NOT EVEN SIX MONTHS LATER IN EARLY JUNE 2006 (ONLY 8,056 MILES) ABOUT 800 MILES FROM HOME, MY REAR RIGHT TIRE BLEW OUT. TIRE WAS REPLACED. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I WENT TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE TIRE. THEN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2006 THERE WAS A BUBBLE IN MY LEFT REAR TIRE. TIRE WAS REPLACED. WAS TOLD NOT UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND COMPLAINT AT 18,770 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES THAT WERE WORN TO METAL. THE R-R ROTOR WAS DAMAGED SO THE REAR PAD/SHOES, ONE ROTOR, AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED. ONE ROTOR WAS RESURFACED. THIS SEEMED LIKE A LOT OF SERIOUS WORK FOR AN AUTOMOBILE THAT WASN'T EVEN TWO YEARS OLD. I WAS A PREVIOUS OWNER OF A FORD EXPLORER AND WE DIDN'T HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM THAT EARLY.
