NO CRASHES OR INJURIES YET! I DRIVE A 2006 FORD FUSION>>> WELL DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL THE CRUISE CONTROL TOTALLY STOPS AND IT THE SPEED WHEN FROM 70 DOWN TO I DON'T KNOW WHAT RIGHT AWAY.. THE REASON I DON'T KNOW IS BECAUSE THE ODOMETER ERROR CAME UP CAUSING THE SPEEDOMETER TO STOP WORKING. AND TO ADD TO THE CONFUSION... THE STARTER STOPPED WORKING... ALL THIS HAPPENED ON THE DAY MY DAD DIED LEAVING ME WITHOUT A CAR TO SEE MY FAMILY WHICH LIVE 200 MILES AWAY... *TR
WE HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION S. WE BOUGHT IT IN MAY AND IT HAVE A STARTING UP PROBLEM. WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT (AFTER HOLDING THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION FOR LIKE 3 SECONDS...AS IT SHOULD BE) , IT DOESN'T START AND THEN AFTER LETTING THE KEY "GO", THE CAR KEEPS TRYING TO START HIMSELF UP. THIS MAKES A WEIRD NOISE OFFCOURSE....AND THEN YOU HAVE TO QUICKLY TURN DOWN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION FOR IT TO STOP TRYING . THIS MORNING WAS THE FIFTH TIME ALREADY THIS HAPPENED. THE LAST TIME I HAD TO TRY 3 TIMES BEFORE FINALLY GETTING THE CAR TO START UP. THIS CAR WILL BE GOING TO THE SERVICE/REPAIR DEP. SOON AT THE DEALER. I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE PROBLEMS OCCURS ALREADY , AND THE CAR IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD ! *TR
ON OCT 24, 2010 WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75-80 MPH (LEFT LANE) OF A MAJOR FREEWAY, TACHOMETER REVVED TO 4,000 RPM AND STUCK THERE. VEHICLE RPM'S WOULD NOT GO UP OR DOWN AND TRANSMISSION APPEARED TO BE SLIPPING IN 6TH GEAR. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 27,522 MILES. MANAGED TO GET CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD, WHERE RPM'S RETURNED TO NORMAL FOR IDLING CONDITION. AT THIS POINT, THE LITTLE "WRENCH" LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH. THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESET THE CODE. ALL APPEARED WELL, AND I PROCEEDED TO RE-ENTER THE FREEWAY. AT APPROXIMATELY 27,533 MILES (11 MILES LATER), THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. PLEASE NOTE THAT ON JUNE 14, 2010 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM (PROGRAM NUMBER 10B15) WAS PERFORMED ON VEHICLE (MILEAGE: 19,936 MILES). AS IT APPEARS THAT SOMETHING IS MAJOR WRONG WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, THE VEHICLE WAS ONCE AGAIN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP (OCT. 29, 2010: MILEAGE: 27,760 MILES) TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RE-EVALUATED. AT THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED TSB 10-21-9. THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN THE SHIFT QUALITY OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN ON DEC. 1, 2010 (MILEAGE: 30,138 MILES) WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH; THE TRANSMISSION APPEARED TO SLIP AND RPM'S REVVED UP TO 4,000 RPM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME AS PROBLEM IS NOT REPRODUCIBLE AND IS UNPREDICTABLE. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TIRE STUDS FRACTURED SEVERAL TIMES AND WERE REPLACED YET THE FAILURE CONSISTENTLY RECURRED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COMMON FOR A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,500.
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED NINE TIMES AT DEALER WITH SYMPTOMS OF TRANSMISSION SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. IT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME WITH HARSH TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENTS, SLIPPING CAUSING RPM'S GREATER THAN 5000. A VEHICLE EVENT RECORDER WAS INSTALLED INTO THE VEHICLE AND PROBLEM IDENTIFIED. VALVE BODY HAS BEEN CLEANED, NEW TRANSMISSION SOLENOID, "RE-FLASHED" 2 TIMES WITH NO CHANGES. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE INVOLVED FROM BEGINNING. AT ONE POINT RECEIVED CALL FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE DISTRICT MANAGER STATING IT IS "NORMAL" FOR THE CAR TO SHIFT THIS WAY AND THERE IS NO PROBLEM EVEN AFTER THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED. THIS CONTINUES TO BE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR SLIPS AT ANY TIME IN ANY TRAFFIC. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SOLUTION TO FIX THIS PROBLEM NOR ANY GUARANTEE. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS MANY OWNERS WITH THIS 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. PREVIOUS COMPLAINT ODI 10369166.

PURCHASED A NEW 2010 FORD FUSION SE, 4 CYL WITH 6 SPEED AUTO TRANS. TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF PURCHASE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO DEALER 3 TIMES. 10/12/10 AT DEALER-THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. 2ND TIME 10/25/10 DROPPED CAR OFF AT DEALER. SAME PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR-SAFETY ISSUE WITH PULLING OUT ON BUSY STREETS. DEALER PERFORMED "REINSTALL VALVE BODY CODES AND CLEAR TCM. LEARN ROAD TEST PERFORMED." THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. END OF NOVEMBER WIFE AND KIDS IN CAR AND SLIPPED BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR ON WHILE ON BUSY ROAD-HUGE SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO ALMOST REAR-ENDED. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER ON 11/29/10 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER KEPT FOR SEVERAL DAYS BUT "COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM." I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY SEVERAL TIMES AND SPOKE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY HAVE DOCUMENTED THESE COMPLAINTS ALSO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. I DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERYDAY, BUT THE LAST TIME WAS ON A BUSY ROAD AND COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN COLD OR SNOWY WEATHER, THE BRAKES WOULD EXHIBIT A GRINDING AND AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE CLIMATE IN WHICH HE RESIDED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FAILURE WAS BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE APRIL, 2010 PURCHASE DATE, WE NOTICED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN OUR 2010 FORD FUSION (6F35 TRANSMISSION) ON A COLD START, NAMELY ROUGH SHIFTING, TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, ENGINE REVVING EXCESSIVELY BUT THE CAR NOT ACCELERATING, AND THE VEHICLE LURCHING FORWARD BEFORE SLAMMING INTO GEAR. NORMALLY, AFTER THE ENGINE WARMS, THE TRANSMISSION SMOOTHES OUT AND WE DO NOT EXPERIENCE FURTHER PROBLEMS THAT DAY. HOWEVER, ONE EPISODE, WHICH RECENTLY OCCURRED AFTER WE HAD DRIVEN THE CAR CONTINUOUSLY FOR 180 MILES, LEADS US TO BELIEVE THAT WE SIMPLY CANNOT TRUST THE VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT US SAFELY. WHEN WE TOOK OFF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AFTER STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, THE CAR SLAMMED INTO GEAR. WE WERE LUCKY TO AVOID BEING HIT FROM THE REAR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION REPAIR ATTEMPTS--INCLUDING PCM REPROGRAMMING, REPLACEMENT OF VALVE BODY, AND REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION. ON THE LAST REPAIR ATTEMPT, FORD BROUGHT IN A FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER WHO AGAIN "CAPTURED" THE PROBLEM. YET THE FLARING CONTINUES. WE CAN REPLICATE IT EVERY DAY BY DRIVING THE VEHICLE COLD AND ACCELERATING NORMALLY FROM 0 TO 55 MPH ON THE FIRST SHIFTING SEQUENCE. WE ARE CONVINCED THAT A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW EXISTS IN THE TRANSMISSION OF THE 2010 FORD FUSION. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IMMEDIATELY! *TR
TAKATA RECALL. I'VE FILED A CLAIM, ODI#10947955, BUT HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM ANYONE.
TAKATA RECALL, MY VEHICLE IS A 2010 FORD FUSION WITH THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE. THE VEHICLE IS 9 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTICE TO HAVE ANY RECALL WORK DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. FORD IS STILL BUILDING NEW VEHICLES BUT NOT ADDRESSING A SERIOUS SAFETY RECALL. SO BASICALLY NOTHING HAS HAPPENED TO FIX THE PROBLEM!
YESTERDAY (4DEC2011) I WAS ROTATING MY TIRES WHEN ONE OF THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL STUDS ON MY 2010 FORD FUSION BROKE OFF INSIDE OF THE LUG NUT. IT WAS OBVIOUSLY WEAK FOR A WHILE AND FINALLY BROKE WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED FROM THE TIRE IRON. MY CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 48000. THIS FOLLOWS A SIMILAR INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED ON 28SEP2010 WHERE ONE OF THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL STUDS BROKE OFF AT APPROXIMATELY 13,500 MILES. 2 OF THESE FRACTURES IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THERE IS NO SIGN OF RUST/WEAR OR TEAR ON ANY OF THE STUDS. I ALSO NOTICED TODAY THAT THE NTSB IS ALREADY LOOKING INTO SIMILAR INCIDENTS THROUGH AN ENGINEERING ANALYSIS. THE POTENTIAL FOR DANGER OF A WHEEL FLYING OFF A CAR AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IS QUITE HIGH AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ANNOUNCED. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION SEL IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE 4TH TIME DUE TO TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE FIRST TIME WAS BASED ON MY OBSERVATION THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE REVERSE GEAR. THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING. THEN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER WE RECEIVED A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT SOMETHING NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED TO FIX A REVERSE ISSUE--SURPRISE! 2ND VISIT TO SERVICE. SINCE THEN, THE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD HARD SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD (AROUND 25 MPH) AND SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE GEARS ARE SLIPPING. WAS IN SHOP FOR THE 3RD TIME FOR 5 DAYS BUT "THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM", CAR RETURNED AND THE SAME PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED. TODAY, THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE ON THE ROAD, STARTED TO IDLE ROUGHLY AND "SHUDDER" AND THEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER CLAIMS IT IS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING IN MY NEW FORD FUSION APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 55 - 60 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY, WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY CAR SPEED DROPPED INSTANTLY FROM 55-60 MPH DOWN TO 5 MPH, AT THE SAME TIME THE WRENCH ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE I IMMEDIATELY HIT MY HAZARDS BARELY MAKING IT ACROSS TWO LANES TO THE SHOULDER AND TO SAFETY, I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND THEN BACK ON, ALL SEEM WELL. THANK GOD, THE TRAFFIC WAS NOT HEAVY. I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD, AFTER ONLY ONE DAY IN THE SHOP I WAS INFORMED, THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT WAS HOOKED TO AND TESTED WITH THE DIAGNOSTICS MACHINE. I WAS TOLD THAT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A GLITCH, OR FLUKE, RELUCTANT, I ACCEPTED MY CAR BACK. BUT, NEEDLESS TO SAY EXACTLY ONE WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME I WAS ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO A VERY CROWDED EXPRESSWAY, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, SPEED SUDDENLY DROPPED TO LESS THAN 5 MPH, ACCELERATION WAS NOT POSSIBLE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. NEXT MORNING BACK IN FORDS SHOP. AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR EIGHT DAYS AND 40+ MILES ADDED TO MY FORD FUSION I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND VOICED MY CONCERN, ONE DAY LATER I WAS INFORMED MY CAR WAS READY AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED, AND THE THROTTLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
MY FUSION HAS MULTIPLE ISSUES. THE FIRST BEING A STALLING ISSUE WHEN SITTING AT A STOP, WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR JUST DIES. IT HAS DONE THIS TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES THE LATEST BEING WITH MY WIFE WHO NOW REFUSES TO DRIVE THE CAR. IT DOESN'T POST A CODE AND STARTS RIGHT UP; WITH NO CODE THE FORD SAYS THEY CANNOT HELP. THE SECOND ISSUE IS TERRIBLE SHIFTING AND VERY SLOW RESPONSE TO THROTTLE MOVEMENTS. THE SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND HAS BEEN VERY BAD; FORD HAS FLASHED THE COMPUTER MULTIPLE TIMES WHICH DID NOTHING. FORD SAYS WITHOUT A CODE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO HELP. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR FROM DAY 1. THIRD ISSUE IS WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING AND HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES, WHEN YOU GET BACK ON THE GAS THE CAR ACTS AS IF THE MOTOR WAS TURNED OFF. YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO RESPOND. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. AGAIN NO CODE SO FORD SAYS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. *TR
2010 FORD FUSION REFERENCE ODI # 10351655 SINCE THE FIRST REGISTERED COMPLAINT OF ROUGH AND ERRATIC SHIFTING (ODI 10351655) MY TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER WHERE WE ARE WAITING REPAIR SAID HE HAD NOT SEEN ONE IN SUCH A PHYSICAL STATE, ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE MELTED WAS MELTED. FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANMISSION AS IT IS RECOMMENDED FOR RECREATIONAL TOWING. THE UNIT HAD BEEN ADJUSTED AND "FIXED" TWICE BEFORE ACCORDING TO FORD SPECIFICATIONS AND THE INFORMATION IN BULLITEN (FORD TSB 09-20-13) WAS FOLLOWED. WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 62 MPH THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AND BECAME TOTALLY DISABLED. IF WE WEREN'T TOWING THIS VEHICLE SECURELY BEHIND A MOTORHOME BUT RATHER DRIVING AT THAT RATE AND THE CARS TRANSMISSION SELF-DESTRUCTS WHAT POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO LIFE AND PROPERTY MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED???? THIS FAULTY TRANSMISSION IS NOT THE ONLY ISOLATED INCIDENT! OTHER DEALERS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKS FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS TO REBUILD TRANSMISSIONS AS A REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN ASSURED THAT I WILL BE RECEIVING ANOTHER TRANSMISSION (POSSIBLY A REMANUFACTURED UNIT) THAT HAS RECEIVED MODIFICATIONS FOR FLAT/ RECREATIONAL TOWING. I WOULD HOPE YOUR AGENCY INVESTIGATES THIS SITUATION THOROUGHLY BEFORE ANYONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF A MALFUNCTIONING TRANSMISSION IN THE FORD FUSION AND 2009-2010 ESCAPE ALONG WITH THE MERCURY 2010 MILAN AND 2009-2010 MARINER. I WAS ALSO LEAD TO BELIEVE THAT FORD HAD DISTRIBUTED INFORMATION THROUGH THEIR FMC DEALER NETWORK CONCERNING THE REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION UNITS THAT HAD BEEN MODIFIED FOR FLAT TOWING. IF THIS INFORMATION IS NOT RELEASED PUBLICALLY ANYONE IS AT RISK, WHETHER DRIVING THE VEHICLE OR TRAVELING ON THE ROADWAYS ALONG WITH VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. JUMPED ONTO THE SIDEWALK AND HIT A METAL RAILING WHICH IN TURN BROKE THE STORE FRONT WINDOW. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHILE SITTING AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE CONTACT REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND POSSIBLE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED GOING SLOW AS IN MAKING A TURN, GOING FAST, AND GOING SLOW IN A STRAIGHT PATTERN. I HAVE DOCUMENTED THE GAS BECAUSE THE SERVICE TECH SAID IT MIGHT NOT BE THE TRANSMISSION BUT SOMETHING WITH THE FUEL. IT HAPPENS ON FULL, 3/4, HALF AND A QUARTER OF A TANK, EARLY MORNING, AFTER I HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR A WHILE. YESTERDAY IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 4 MILES EACH TIME I HAVE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WHICH APPARENTLY RESETS IT, BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF, BUT THEN COME ON WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED. I HAVE ADVISED MY FAMILY THAT IF I AM REAR-ENDED AND DEATH OCCURS TO SEEK LEGAL COUNCIL. THE SERVICE PEOPLE SAY THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN GET THE CAR TO MIMIC THE PROBLEM, OR SOMETHING SHOWS UP ON THE COMPUTER. MEANWHILE THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, I ALSO USE MY CAR EVERYDAY FOR BUSINESS. THEY HAVE NOT PROVIDED ME WITH AN ALTERNATE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION YET WANT TO KEEP MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING, THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, I AM SURE YOU WOULD HAVE MORE COMPLAINTS IF PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOU. CAN YOU PULL FORD'S SERVICE RECORDS TO GET A MORE ACCURATE RECORD OF THE MAGNITUDE OF PROBLEMS. DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.
IN YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, I WAS DRIVING NORTH FROM CANYON VILLAGE TO TOWER FALLS. A SIGN SAID, "7% DOWNGRADE 6 MILES ALL VEHICLES USE LOWER GEAR". THE FORD FUSION SE V6 WITH AUTOMATIC GIVES THE CHOICE OF FIRST, WHICH REDLINES AT ABOUT 35 MPH, OR DRIVE, WHICH WILL SHIFT TO 6TH GEAR EVEN ON THE LEVEL AT 35MPH. I HAD TO RIDE THE BRAKES FOR THE NEXT SIX MILES. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL IS A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AND A SPEED LIMIT OF 15 MPH. I PULLED OFF TO THE PARKING LOT AT TOWER FALLS AND THE SMELL OF HOT BRAKES WAS EVERYWHERE. THE VEHICLE'S WHEELS WERE HOT. IF THE BRAKES HAD FADED, I WOULD HAVE HIT THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AT HIGH SPEED UNLESS I FOUND A NICE ROCK WALL TO RUN INTO INSTEAD. THE VEHICLE DESPERATELY NEEDS ENGINE BRAKING. THE ENGINE RAN AT ABOUT 1,000 RPM ALL THE WAY DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. IT IDLES AT ABOUT 500 RPM WHEN HOT, SO THE ENGINE BRAKING WAS NEARLY NONEXISTENT. *TR
STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WAITING TO MAKE LEFT TURN. UPON ACCELERATING CAR LURCHED FORWARD LIKE IT WAS GOING TO COME OFF IT'S CHASIS AND THEN LOST ALL ACCELERATION. CAR ROLLED TO STOP AND NEEDED TOWING DEALERSHIP HAD CAR FOR 25 DAYS. CLAIMS TO HAVE REPLACED A THROTTLE MODULE WHICH CORRECTED THE ISSUE. FORD CLAIMED ALL DEFECTIVE PARTS AND INDICATED THEY HAD NO RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM ME OF THE DEFECT WHICH CAUSED THE INCIDENT. *TR
THE 2010 FORD FUSION HAS POORLY DESIGNED DRIVER/PASSENGER HEAD RESTRAINTS. I, OF HEIGHT 5'7", TEST DROVE ONE YESTERDAY, AND GOT NO FURTHER THAN 0.25 MILES BEFORE NEEDING TO PARK. THE HEADREST IS ANGLED FORWARD, CAUSING EXCESSIVE NECK STRAIN, AND THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST ITS TILT TO A MORE VERTICAL POSITION. I DID SUBSEQUENTLY COMPLETE THE TEST DRIVE, ALBEIT WITH FREQUENT BODILY ADJUSTMENTS. DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH PROPER POSTURE IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH THESE HEAD RESTRAINT DESIGN. TAKATA RECALL I'VE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT MY AIRBAGS MIGHT KILL ME. THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THEM. THIS REDUCES THE VALUE OF MY VEHICLE BY AN AMOUNT I CANNOT ESTIMATE. OF COURSE, IF IT KILLS ME, I PROBABLY WON'T CARE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT LIGHTLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM A COMPLETE STOP WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AT A RAPID RATE OF SPEED. SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY APPLYING THE BRAKES AND MOVED THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY. I JUST BOUGHT A 2010 FORD FUSION. I KNOW NOW WHY THEY ONLY ALLOW YOU TO TEST DRIVE THESE CARS AROUND THE BLOCK. THE FIRST TIME I DROVE IT, I GOT A BURNING PAIN DOWN MY NECK AND A PIERCING HEADACHE. THE HEADREST IS A WEDGE WITH THE GREATEST PROTRUSION HITTING THE GREATEST PROTRUSION OF THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD. NO ADJUSTMENT OF THE SEAT OR HEADREST HELPS. I TRIED TO RETURN THE CAR IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEY REFUSED. THIS WEIRD ANGLE PUTS YOUR CHIN DOWN ON YOUR CHEST AND YOUR SIGHT LINE IN A HAZARDOUS ALIGNMENT. IF THERE WERE A WRECK, THE ANGLE WOULD CAUSE YOUR NECK TO SNAP. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS, APPARENTLY, AND HAS RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS, YET DOES NOTHING. PEOPLE ARE RESORTING TO TURNING THE HEADREST AROUND, WHICH WILL NOT PROTECT AGAINST WHIPLASH, OR HAVING IT BENT IN A VISE, WHICH COULD ALLOW IT TO BREAK IN A COLLISION. ALL THE FORDS NOW HAVE THIS DANGEROUS TORTURE DEVICE, SO YOU CANNOT CHANGE THEM. HELP! *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE WOULD SHUTDOWN AND ALL POWER ASSIST FEATURES WOULD BE DISENGAGED. THE CHECK ENGINE, CHECK TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK OIL PRESSURE, CHECK TEMPERATURE, AND LOW FUEL WARNING MESSAGES WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE SUFFERED FROM THESE SYMPTOMS APPROXIMATELY 13 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 1000 MILES ULTIMATELY RESULTING IN SEVERAL EVASIVE MANEUVERS TO AVOID COLLISIONS CAUSED BY THE LACK OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE SPENT 27 DAYS IN THE SHOP AND ULTIMATELY THE MAIN ECM WAS REPLACED. THE SYMPTOMS HAVE SINCE CEASED, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT THEY MAY START AGAIN SINCE THE SYSTEM FAILURES SEEMED TO INCREASE WITH 100+ DEGREE AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURES.
