2010 FORD FUSION. 19,000 MILES. NOTICED A MISSING LUGNUT ON 4/11/11. ONE WHEEL STUD ON FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL HAS SNAPPED OFF. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS BRAKING FROM APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE TRANSMISSION BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING YET THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,500.
EVER SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. MY LUG NUTS JUST BREAK OFF. FORD PERFORMED A RECALL ON THE LUG NUTS AND SINCE THE RECALL I HAVE HAD MY LUG NUTS CONTINUE TO FALL OFF FOUR MORE TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING AND THE CORPORATE OFFICE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING EACH BLAMES THE OTHER INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY ITS HAPPENING. *TR
ON 2/19/2015 I TOOK MY 2010 FORD FUSION TO EL CAJON FORD BECAUSE OF ANOTHER BROKEN WHEEL LUG. AFTER PERFORMING A MULTI POINT INSPECTION FOR $116 WHICH THEY SNUCK IN ON THE WORK ORDER. THE CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL STUD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE ME TO REPLACE THE STUD AND LUG NUT PLUS LABOR. I REFERRED TO THE RECALL AND PREVIOUS WORK DONE THEY STILL REFUSED TO PERFORM THE WORK WITH OUT CHARGE. I WAS FORCED TO PAY $116 TO GET MY CAR. I TOOK MY CAR TO PEPBOYS IN SANTEE CA. WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BROKEN STUD FOR FRACTION OF FORDS COST. WHILE INSTALLING THE WHEEL ANOTHER STUD BROKE AND PEPBOYS REPLACED THAT STUD AT COST. I QUESTION THE SOLUTION FORD GIVES FOR THE RECALL OF REPLACING THE LUG NUTS ONLY, THE DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE TO THE LUG STUDS THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN WEAKENED. 1 BROKEN STUD AND LUG NUT REPLACED 4/2/11, 20 LUG NUTS REPLACED 1/23/12, 1 BROKEN STUD AND LUG NUT REPLACED 1/17/13, 1 BROKEN STUD AND LUG NUT REPLACED 5/7/14, 2 STUDS AND 2 LUG NUTS REPLACED 2/10/15. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE REMAINING STUDS TO SNAP. *TR
DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE PLASTIC SEPARATED AND HANDLE CRACKED. UNABLE TO LOCK DOOR WITHOUT HAVING TO HOLD HANDLE IN. WAS ABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM THE INTERIOR WITH GREAT CAUTION. HANDLE CONTINUED TO CRACK ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
VEHICLE SLIPS/HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES WERE FOUND 'BURNT' AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PROBLEM PERSISTS AND NOW I AM TOLD THIS IS 'NORMAL' OPERATION. IN ADDITION, MY WHEELS ARE NOW VIBRATING/WOBBLING. I WILL NEED ADDITIONAL SERVICE. *TR
TL-THE DRIVER OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE DRIVER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND RPMS WOULD ALSO INCREASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,400. SM.
FOUND TWO MISSING LUG NUTS/STUDS FROM THE LEFT REAR TIRE OF A 2010 FORD FUSION. CAR HAD ONLY 10,000 MILES AND THE TIRES/WHEELS HAD NEVER BEEN SERVICED. I FOUND 1 LUG NUT WITH THE STUUD IN IT LAYING IN MY STREET. STUD LOOKS LIKE A CLEAN BREAK NOT TYPICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH OVERTIGHTENING. AFTER INSISTING, THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH. WILL KEEP AN EYE ON THE REST BASED ON NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOUND ONLINE. *TR
FROM AROUND 30000 MILES ON I HAVE HAD A. N INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH TRANS. SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND & 3RD? GEARS. MENTIONED IT TO RUTHERFORD AT LEAST TWICE, WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. TOOK CAR TO DESOTO FORD DEALER WHILE STILL UNDER EXTENDED WARR WAS TOLD IT MIGHT BE DIRT IN VALVE BODY AND IF TAKEN OUT AND NOTHING FOUND ENTIRE COST WOULD HAVE BEEN ON ME. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. NOW TRANS IS SLIPPING VERY OFTEN. I FEEL THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF UNDER ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM ALWAYS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING.
I DISCOVERED MISSING LUG NUTS ON TWO SEPARATE WHEELS ON MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL AND THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. AS I LOOKED CLOSER, I NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL STUD BOLT HAD BROKEN OFF. I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE WHEEL STUDS BROKE ALTHOUGH THE ONE ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED SOME TIME AGO AS THE SURFACE OF THE BREAK HAS ALREADY CORRODED. THE SURFACE OF THE BREAK ON THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL APPEARS TO BE MORE RECENT AS THERE IS LITTLE TO NO CORROSION. THIS ISSUE DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR ANY VEHICLE DAMAGE THAT I AM AWARE OF AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS 17,460 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED AT THE END OF MAY 2010. THIS VEHICLE IS USED FOR PERSONAL USE - I DRIVE IT TO AND FROM WORK WHICH IS A 65 MILE ROUND TRIP. *TR
I BOUGHT A SLIGHTLY USED (IT WAS A DEALER AUTO) 2010 FORD FUSION SEL. SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2010, I HAVE EXPERIENCED VERY JERKY AND UNEVEN SHIFTING. I EVEN BROUGHT THE CAR BACK AFTER OWNING IT FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK, BUT THE DEALER MONACO FORD IN CT TALKED ME INTO KEEPING THE CAR, SAYING THAT IT IS DIFFERENT TYPE OF ENGINE (6 CYLINDER) THAN I WAS USED TO. BUT IT FELT WRONG AND ALWAYS HAS. THEN, I GOT A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL OR SERVICE NOTICE NOTIFYING ME OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THE MAKE/MODEL OF MY CAR. IT CAME FROM FORD AND I WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. I DID, BUT NOTHING CHANGED. I LEARNED TO LIVE WITH IT, BUT OVER THE PAST MONTH, THE CAR HAS BECOME WORSE AND WORSE - SHIFTING HAS BECOME SO JERKY THAT I EXPERIENCED SEVERE JOLTS AND WHIPLASH ABOUT 5 TIMES. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN ON MARCH 7, 2011 AND THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED DUE TO A BROKEN FRONT AXLE SEAL - I LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE PROBLEMS WITH MY MAKE/TYPE OF VEHICLE. I NEED HELP - I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP A CAR THAT IS NOT SAFE. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND ALL REPORTS I HAVE READ STATE THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE OFTEN NOT FIXABLE - WITH ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER RECURRING WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. AS I BOUGHT THE CAR SLIGHTLY USED, I DON'T THINK I CAN SUE THROUGH THE LEMON LAW. I NEED HELP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE ENGINE EMISSION AND MECHANICAL ATTENTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TRANSMISSION STARTED GOING OUT AFTER ONLY TWO OR THREE MONTHS OF PURCHASING IT. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. FORD DEALERSHIP TOOK CARE OF IT. *TR
AT 18540 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REBUILT IT AND REPROGRAM THE PCM. THEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK 5 MONTHS LATER WITH 30100 THEY HAD IT A WEEK BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE THEN TOWED THE CAR TO ALABAMA AND LESS THEN A MONTH LATER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN AT 31111 MILES AT THIS TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP 36DAY THE CAR WAS PICK UP AND DROVE 12 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP THEN HAD IT ANOTHER 14 DAY. A MONTH AND A HALF LATER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN, THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT 3 DAYS. WE DROVE IT 35 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT ANOTHER 17 DAYS.THEN WE HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN WITH 36000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR 16 DAYS. FORD CORP HAS NOT ALLOWED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT HAS AUTHORIZED THEM TO REBUILD AND REPROGRAM PCM NUMEROUS TIMES. WE HAVE THE CAR NOW AND IT IS STILL NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. WE HAVE TALK TO FORD AND THEY WILL NOT DOING ANYTHING FOR US. TOLD US THE CAR IS FIXED....OR IS IT. THIS CAR HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FAIL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND CREATE A DANGEROUS CONDITION. WE FEAR FOR OUR SAFETY WHEN WE DRIVE THIS CAR.
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY 2010 FORD FUSION TRANSMISSION SEL V6. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. THEY FINALLY DID A REPROGRAM DEC 09, 2010 WITH 8K MILES. THEN COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REBUILD 2/15/11 WITH 11K MILES ON IT. NOW I'M EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS YET AGAIN AT 16K. I HAVE TO TAKE IT RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ALWAYS TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG. THE TRANS HAS TO ADAPT TO MY DRIVING AGAIN. WHY IS THE CAR SHUTTING OFF? TRANSMISSION SURGING GEARS, NOT PICKING UP, CAR BUCKING IN THE MORNING WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. IT'S BEEN TERRIBLE. I HATE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHAT MY CAR IS GOING TO DO. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. I'M SICK OF PAYING $30 A DAY FOR REPEATED TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IT'S OUT OF HAND AND UNSAFE. I HAVE A TODDLER IN MY CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEELS WERE BENT AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WAS REPLACED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THE OTHER DEFECTIVE WHEEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,229. UPDATED 05/04/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT AND THERE WAS A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE WHEELS WERE BENT. UPDATED 07/08/11
MY THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT IN MY CAR IT WOULD ALL OF A SUDDEN STOP IN TRAFFIC. *TR
I HAVE A FORD FUSION WITH ABOUT 30000 MILES. I FIRST NOTICED A HARD SHIFT AT 10K MILES AND THOUGHT MAYBE ITS JUST A SIMPLE FIX. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR SAID THAT THIS TRANSMISSION ADAPTS TO THE OWNERS DRIVING HABITS. WELL 3K MILES LATER ITS WORSE SO I TAKE IT BACK AND THE TECH SAID ALL THE CLUTCHES WERE REPLACED AND TWO OTHER THINGS WERE DONE! I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK FOUR MORE TIMES AND HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED. IT APPEARS THAT FORD ADMITTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH A TRANSMISSION CODE THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED AND I AM LEFT WITH A VEHICLE THAT ALSO HAD A WINDOW MOTOR REPLACED, SOME PULLEYS THAT WERE MAKING A WHISTLING NOISE, AND A BATTERY AND TAILLIGHT THAT WENT OUT CHANGED. I DON'T KNOW IF ITS A LEMON, BUT I SMELL DISASTER IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS! WISH FORD WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND STAND BY ITS PRODUCT. *TR
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 1.5 MILES FROM HOME, MY WIFE CAME TO A SET OF LIGHTS AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT NEARLY TO THE FLOOR AND SEVERAL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING THE BRAKES & ANTI-SWERVE. THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO A STOP AS SHE ENTERED THE INTERSECTION. FORTUNATELY 2 THINGS WERE IN HER FAVOR, THERE WAS NO ONE AHEAD OF HER AND THERE WAS NO CROSS TRAFFIC AT THE LIGHT. EITHER COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK HOME SINCE SHE CONSIDERED THAT THE BRAKES HAD FAILED AND SHE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE CALLED ME. I TOLD HER TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. SHE LEFT THE VEHICLE RUNNING THINKING THAT PERHAPS AS IT WARMED UP IT WOULD WORK AND TESTED IT SEVERAL TIMES OVER AN HOUR'S TIME IN THE DRIVEWAY. SHE PULLED OUT THE CAR'S MANUAL TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING LISTED REGARDING THE BRAKE FAILURE. SHE READ IN ANOTHER PART OF THE MANUAL ABOUT RESETTING THE CAR'S COMPUTER BY SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN SHE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT AND BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE DEALER SAID THEY "NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM" AND SAID THE EARLIEST THEY COULD SEE THE VEHICLE WAS 5 DAYS LATER. WE DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF THE NIGHT BEFORE WITH A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT WAS EXPERIENCED. THE DEALER SAID THEY "COULD NOT VERIFY THE CONCERN" AND FORD DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY GUIDANCE REGARDING THE ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO FIND QUITE OF FEW INSTANCES BY SIMPLY DOING A "GOOGLE" SEARCH INCLUDING A VIDEO BY 'CONSUMER REPORTS' WHO EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. FORD ASSURED THEM IT WAS A 'SOFTWARE' ISSUE AND CLAIMED THAT ALL 2010 FUSION HYBRID OWNERS WOULD BE NOTIFIED TO HAVE THE SOFTWARE UPDATED. MY CAR WAS A NEWER MODEL 2010 AND APPARENTLY NOT UNDER THIS NOTIFICATION SINCE WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING FROM FORD. THE 'FORD CUSTOMER CARE' SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR SERVICE WHO SAID, "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO."
2010 FUSION SE L2.5L FWD-TRANSMISSION LEAKS OIL AT THE DRIVER SIDE HALF SHAFT SEAL. ITS ZERO OUT AND & THE GROVE BOX MANUAL HAS NO SUB FREEZING PROCEDURE TO CHECK THE ATF. AFTER 2 DAYS OF OWNERSHIP I CONTACTED FORD SERVICE AND THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY TSB'S FOR THIS PROBLEM. AFTER SOME GOOGLING I FOUND 6 OR SO TSB'S ON THIS 6F35 TRANSMISSION AND MANY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS CHRONICLED IN FORUMS. EVEN FORDS OWN FUSION FORUM HAS MORE NEGATIVE THAN POSITIVE ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION. FORDFUSIONFORUM.COM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE IGNITION WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIANS REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIANS WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR A KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE IN JUNE 2010. FORD APPEARS TO HAVE REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER TO CHANGE SHIFT POINTS. SHIFTING IS SMOOTHER BUT STILL IT DOES NOT PERFORM LIKE A NORMAL FORD TRANSMISSION (I HAVE DRIVEN FORDS SINCE 1964). TIME OUT OF SERVICE WAS ONE DAY. JAN 20, 2011 WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY DISENGAGED. THERE WAS NO POWER AND CAR HAD TO COAST TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SITTING FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT WAS REQUIRED FOR ME TO REACH HER I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT FOUR MILES AWAY. THE TRANSAXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING AND FLUID WAS LOW. THE REQUIRED PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER AT FORD AND WE HAD TO WAIT FOR PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED ON JAN. 31, 2011 (11 DAYS OUT OF SERVICE). ON FEB.12, 2011, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN BY ME AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN DISENGAGED. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL FORD ROAD SERVICE FOR A TOW. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE TO RECORD THE MILEAGE AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RUN, ACTING AS IF THE TIMING WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF SYNC. IT BUCKED AND MISSED FIRED AS IF THE TIMING WAS NOT CORRECT (I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS ONCE BEFORE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE ONE MORNING IN LATE SEPT. 2010 BUT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED IT SINCE THAT TIME THOUGHT WE HAD GOTTEN SOME BAS GASOLINE). I AM EXPERIENCING CHRONIC SHIFTING PROBLEMS WITH THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION. LEASED A NEW 2010 FORD FUSION ON 1/30/10. I HAD 2 TIRE ISSUED WITH THIS VEHICLE. FLAT LEFT REAR ON ABOUT 5/17/11 WITH 5349 MILES WHICH WAS PLUGGED AND A BLOW OUT ON A HIGHWAY ON ABOUT 11/17/2010 WHICH WAS SO BAD I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRE (NOT OVER 10,000 MILES) I BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS GROUP OF TIRES. *TR
2011 FORD FUSION HEADREST IS SO FAR FORWARD THAT IT FORCES MY WIFE'S HEAD FORWARD, CAUSING SEVERE NECK PAIN. AS A RESULT SHE REMOVED THE HEADREST. THIS IS UNSAFE SITUATION BUT NECESSARY FOR HER TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CARD. *TR
I WENT TO MOVE MY 2010 FORD FUSION IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED THAT ONE OF MY DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE LUG NUTS WAS MISSING. LOOKING CLOSER THE WHOLE STUD HAD SHEARED OFF. THE CAR ONLY HAS 9788 MILES AND AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM ON ANOTHER 2010 FORD FUSION WITH 10500 MILES HAD THREE STUDS SHEARED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A 6 OR 8 LANE FREEWAY WHEN IT SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO A MUCH LOWER GEAR (PROBABLY 3RD) AND THE TACHOMETER MAXED AT 7000 RPM AND HELD THERE UNTIL I MANUALLY MOVED THE SHIFT LEVER TO NEUTRAL. WHEN I PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE (STILL MOVING) IT AGAIN RACED TO 7000 RPM AND I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUT IT IN ALL THE GEARS, THEN IN DRIVE AND WENT BACK ON THE FREEWAY. IT STAYED IN 1ST GEAR AND I AGAIN WENT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED IT AND GOT BACK ON THE FREEWAY. IT SHIFTED OK, BUT AFTER A FEW MILES DID IT AGAIN. I SENT MY COMPLAINT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY, BUT THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ACTIONS AND THEREFORE CAN NOT/WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER MADE TWO ATTEMPTS TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2010 FORD FUSION THAT HAS APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES ON IT. I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WHERE THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE PULLING MY CAR OUT OF A PARKING GARAGE. THE VEHICLE CONSOLE DISPLAY SHOWED A 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE' MESSAGE. I PULLED MY CAR OVER TO THE SIDE WITH CONSIDERABLE EFFORT AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES WAIT, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, A LESS THAN A MILE TRAVELED, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AND THE SAME MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED WHILE IN A ROUND-ABOUT. I AGAIN PULLED MY CAR OVER AND SHUT IT OFF. IT AGAIN RESTARTED AND STEERED FINE AND I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO MY DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP READ THE CODE, CLEARED IT AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY SCARY ISSUE AND NO COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. I AM A PRIOR OWNER OF A CHEVROLET COBALT AND I AM FAMILIAR WITH THEIR RECALL FOR THE ELECTRIC ASSIST. MY COBALT DID NOT FAIL, BUT THEY REPLACED THE ASSIST MOTOR UNDER RECALL. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE FORD FUSION NOW HAS ELECTRIC ASSIST. ARE OTHER FUSION OWNERS HAVING INTERMITTENT FAILURES WITH THEIR STEERING? *TR
