WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY SLIPPED GEARS ON ITS OWN AND STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED AND I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND AT THAT POINT THE CAR THRUSTED FORWARD AND JERKED. I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND LIGHT WAS GONE. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON HIGHWAY AGAIN, SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD THAT EVENING ONLY TO GET A PHONE CALL THAT THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM OF THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS I FOUND ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THAT I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE LEAVING THE LOT. THEY SAID THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF ANY COMPLAINTS NOR ANY TSBS ON THIS CAR! I SENT THEM A LINK TO THIS WEBSITE AND TOLD THEM TO READ IT. CURRENTLY THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME BACK WITH AN ANSWER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH ABOUT 25,000 MILES ON IT 3 MONTHS AGO AND CURRENTLY I AM AT 29,700. I SURELY DIDN'T EXPECT TO HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE LIKE THIS. I OWN ANOTHER FORD WHICH HAS LASTED WELL OVER 200K MILES BUT I HAVE NEVER BEEN PLACED IN DANGER WITH ANY VEHICLE LIKE THIS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME WHEN THE CAR DOES THAT IT GOES INTO LIMP MODE FOR "SAFETY' REASONS. I DON'T SEE HOW SAFE THAT CAN BE IF YOU CAUSE A PILE UP ON THE FREEWAY. MY QUESTION I AM WAITING TO ASK THEM IS EVEN IF THEY DROVE MY CAR AND GOT THE SAME ISSUE, IF THE READ OUT ON MACHINE DOESN'T TELL THEM WHAT'S WRONG, HOW ARE THEY TO FIX IT? WILL THEY STILL SAY NOTHING WAS WRONG BECAUSE THEY COMPUTER CAN'T DUPLICATE IT? OR DO THEY THINK I LIKE BEING WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND WASTING EVERYONE'S TIME? *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 101. I ACCELERATED TO CHANGE LANES AND THE GAS PEDAL STUCK IN THAT POSITION. I PUT ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW ME DOWN AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR STARTED TO SPEED AGAIN, I BRAKED AGAIN AND EXITED THE FREEWAY AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF ROAD, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED OF THE ENGINE. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE GAS PEDAL, THE RUBBER MAT HAD STUCK ON TOP OF THE ACCELERATOR. I CALLED MY FORD DEALER TODAY THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER I NOTED ON THE WEB TODAY YOU HAD ISSUED A WARNING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN JUNE OF 2010, WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IN OCT. 2010, AND I GUESS FORD DIDN'T TELL DEALERS NOT TO PUT THIS ALL WEATHER MAT ON TOP OF AN EXISTING MAT, AS PER THEIR PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS ON THE MAT ITSELF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE LUG NUT DETACHED FROM THE WHEEL. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE NOR WAS THE VEHICLE INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SEEM LIKE IT WOULD GO INTO NEUTRAL BETWEEN 1-2 SHIFTS AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY IT WOULD SOMETIMES ACT THE SAME IN GEAR 6. THE TRANSMISSION WAS CHANGED ONCE BY FORD. REPROGRAMMED 4-5 TIMES, AND MULTIPLE PARTS CHANGED AND STILL POOR PERFORMANCE EXIST. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE SAME DEALER THAT HAS SERVICED IT AND I WOULD LIKE TO CLAIM THIS AS A LEMON IN THE STATE OF FL WHILE STILL UNDER THE FACTORY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
THIS IS RELATED TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA11009. SO FAR I HAVE HAD 2 INCIDENTS OF BROKEN WHEEL STUDS ON A 2010 FOR FUSION THAT WAS BOUGHT ON 9/11/2010. THE FIRST OCCURRED ON 7/15/2011 AT 25000 MILES AND THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS ON 10/21/2011 AT 33000 MILES. BOTH ON DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL. THE DEALER HAS DONE ALL WORK TO CAR SO FAR. *TR
POOR BRAKE RESPONSE ON 2010 FORD FUSION SPORT AWD. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SLOW THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY STOPPING SITUATION, THE BRAKES DO NOT PRODUCE ENOUGH FRICTION BETWEEN THE PADS AND ROTORS, THUS DOES NOT ACTIVATE ABS UNLESS ON SLIPPERY OR SNOW SURFACE. THE BRAKES DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. *TT
1. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND TELLTALE "WRENCH" LIGHT ILLUMINATE. WHILE DRIVING IN HOT WHETHER THE ABOVE OCCURRED 5 TIMES IN A 54 MILE TRIP. ONCE ILLUMINATED, THE CAR HAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND IDLES AT 1000 RPM (LIMP MODE AS DESCRIBED BY FORD). THE 'LIMP MODE' DOES NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER TO PULL OVER AND STOP SAFELY OUT OF TRAFFIC. IN ODOR TO HAVE THE EPROM RESET, THE OPERATOR MUST PLACE THE CAR IN PARK; TURN OFF THE ENGINE FOR APPROX. 2 MINUTES. I FOUND THAT TURNING OFF THE AC, THEREBY REDUCING THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THAT THE CONDITION RESOLVED ITSELF LONG ENOUGH TO DELIVER THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE 'THROTTLE BODY" UNIT WAS FAULTY. INITIALLY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. NOW FORD HAS CHANGED THE STATED 'COVERED UNDER WARRANTY" STATEMENT. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE 'THROTTLE BODY' UNITS ARE ON BACK ORDER FOR 10-12 DAYS. SOUNDS LIKE THIS OCCURRING FREQUENTLY TO "THROTTLE BODIES" WITH NO STOCK AND BACK ORDERED. BOTTOM LINE FORD MAY NEED TO INVESTIGATE AND PREPARE FOR A RECALL. *TR
TRANSMISSION IS ACTING VERY ERRATIC. THE TRANSMISSION "FLARES" CAUSING RPMS TO GO UP QUICKLY REGARDLESS OF THROTTLE POSITION. IT ALSO SHUDDERS WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ALMOST AS IF SEARCHING BETWEEN GEARS WHILE MAINTAINING A STEADY SPEED. ALSO, IT SHIFTS VERY ROUGHLY, COMPARABLE TO AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER OPERATING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, AND THESE ABRUPT SHIFTS CAUSE THE CAR TO WANT TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE HEARD REPORTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAIL WHILE CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND BEING A FATHER OF TWO LITTLE ONES, WANT TO SEE TO IT THIS PROBLEM GETS FIXED. FORD DENIES THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS, YET A BIT OF RESEARCH SHOWS THERE ARE MULTIPLE LEMON LAW SUITS AGAINST THE 2010 FORD FUSION. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP AS I HAVE HEARD THERE REALLY IS NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS, AND THOSE WHO HAVE HAVE NOT SEEN ANY IMPROVEMENT. IN FACT, MANY HAVE REPORTED COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE FROM THE SO-CALLED "FIXES". *TT
2010 FORD FUSION TRANSMISSION SLIP. HAD SOFTWARE UP DATE DONE DIDEN'T FIX IT. HAD VALVABODY REPLACED DIDEN'T FIX IT AFTER THE THIRD ATTEMPT AT A REPAIR I WANTED FORD TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE TRANSMISSION THEY WOULD NOT. THEY REBUILT IT, IT WAS BETTER BUT NOT LIKE I THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE. NOW IT IS MAKING A NOISE AGAIN AND THE FORD TECH CAN'T HEAR IT. FORD NEEDS TO MAKE GOOD ON THEIR PRODUCT MY FUSION IS ABOUT TO BE OUT OF WARRANTEE THEN WHAT WILL I DO I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION EVERY 6MO. *TT
THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO REVERSE WHEN COLD, SLIPS BETWEEN GEARS, SEEMS TO POP INTO NEUTRAL, RPM SHOOTS TO OVER 4000, SLAMS BACK INTO GEAR SO HARD YOU'D SWEAR THE CAR HAS BEEN REAR-ENDED. THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER PERFORMED TSB TO REPLACE THE PCM COMPUTER--DIDN'T HELP. THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AS I DROVE IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. THIS IS IN NO WAY A COMPLAINT ABOUT OUR DEALER. THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALWAYS GIVES US GREAT SERVICE, AND ARE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING THEY CAN TO HELP US, BUT WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO? THEY DIDN'T DESIGN OR BUILD THIS MONSTROSITY. THEY ARE IN CONTACT WITH FORD FACTORY ENGINEERS TO TRY TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT NO ANSWERS ARE FORTHCOMING. WE ARE AFRAID TO STRAY FAR FROM HOME WITH THIS FUSION. IF WE CAN'T JUST GO ANYWHERE WE WANT WITH THE CAR, WHAT GOOD IS IT TO US? THE INTERNET IS AWASH WITH HORROR STORIES ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. AS OF THIS WRITING, THERE ARE OVER 60 COMPLAINTS ON THIS NHTSA SITE ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO UNEXPECTEDLY SURGE FORWARD. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE SIMILAR FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE DIFFERENT TIMES WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. UPDATED 02/03/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE FLOOR MATS WERE REMOVED, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OCCURRED AGAIN. UPDATED 02/10/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
OWN A 2010 FORD FUSION SE WITH 24V 3.0 V6 WITH 6 SPEED SELECT SHIFT TRANSMISSION. WHEN CAR WAS NEW, HAD HARD SHIFTS, AND IN MID 2010 FORD ISSUES A RECALL TO REPROGRAM THESE ISSUES. AFTER THIS REPAIR, DEALERSHIP STATED THEY RAN A LOAD TEST AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE. IN LATE 2010, THE HARD SHIFTS RETURNED AND THE DEALERSHIP "REPROGRAMMED" THE TRANSMISSION. IN LATE JUNE 2011 WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP, RECEIVED A TRANSMISSION/DRIVE TRAIN CODE (THE WRENCH SYMBOL) BUT NO NOTICEABLE ISSUES. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, STARTED GETTING HARD SHIFTS. THE NEXT DAY, AS I WAS PULLING ON A MAJOR ROAD WAY, THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED OUT OF GEAR, ENGINE ACTED IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, AND THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR MOVING, IT WAS REVVING POORLY, SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD, AND HAD A TERRIBLE VIBRATION. HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR TWO DAYS, THEY HAD A VERY HARD DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE (EVEN THOUGH THE SYSTEM SENT CODES). THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION, AND SAID THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. TODAY, FIVE DAYS LATER, THE ISSUES RETURNED, BUT WORSE. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP, AS YOU WOULD BEGIN TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD SHUDDER AND REV TO 7000 RPM. YOU HAVE TO COMPLETELY LET OFF THE THROTTLE, AND ONCE IT WOULD DROP TO ABOUT 1500 RPM, AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD REENGAGE. IN GEAR 5 OR 6 AT SPEED, IT WOULD TRY AND DOWN SHIFT AND WOULD KICK OUT OF GEAR AND REV TO CLOSE TO RED LINE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TODAY AS I WAS TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. AS I'VE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS.
CAR LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. WE WERE TRAVELING ON A TWO LANE ROAD GOING DOWNHILL. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTARTED. WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AT DEALER. WE HAVE TWO 2010 FUSIONS IN OUR HOUSEHOLD. OTHER CAR FAILED IN SAME MANNER EXCEPT IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. THIS THROTTLE BODY HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED. THIS CAR HAD 55000 MILES. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ACTIVATED, THE ENGINE STALLED AND IMMEDIATELY THE WARNING INDICATOR BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER WAITING A FEW MOMENTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2010 FORD FUSION AND HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH ONE TIRE LOSING AIR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW BUT THEY HAD BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE LEAK UNTIL RECENTLY. FINALLY AFTER GOING TO TWO TIRE CENTERS ON FRIDAY THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND THAT, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE TIRE/RIM THAT CAUSED AN INDENT IN THE TIRE AT THE INNER BEAD THAT CAUSED A SLOW SEEPING LEAK. I HAVE A STATEMENT FROM THE OWNER OF THAT TIRE CENTER THAT IN NO WAY WOULD A SEAL BE A PERMANENT FIX. I THEN HAD TO TAKE IT INTO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER WERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE BEADS WERE NOT SEALING TO THE ACTUAL RIM. A BEAD SEAL WAS DONE ON ALL FOUR TIRES BUT NEITHER THE TIRE OR THE RIM WAS REPLACED. I REQUESTED A NEW TIRE BUT WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS WHAT WAS BEING DONE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND TO COME BACK IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND STATEMENTS THAT OTHERS HAVE EVEN EXPERIENCED BLOW-OUTS AT VERY LOW MILEAGE. I HAVE A 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH A LEARNER'S PERMIT AND AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT HER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. SHE NEEDS DRIVING HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY BUT THIS IS GOING TO BE VERY DIFFICULT TO DO SINCE I AM WORRIED ABOUT THERE BEING A PROBLEM WITH MY TIRES. THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT WE HAD PLANNED ON POSSIBLY PASSING DOWN TO HER, BUT IF THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE THEN, WE MAY HAVE TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES AND RIMS JUST TO FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING SO. I DON'T THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE FOUR TIRES AND RIMS AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, AT JUST APPROXIMATELY 12,000 MILES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT DOWN WITH THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ON. STEERING WAS DIFFICULT AND I ALMOST WAS HIT TRYING TO GET VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I TRIED RESTARTING CAR AND IT STARTED, SO I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION AND IT DIED AGAIN. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO FORD. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. VEHICLE STILL HAS LOSS OF POWER ISSUES AND FORD HAS NOT SOLVED THIS ISSUE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS VEHICLE JUST TURNS OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS THIS PART FAILS. *JS

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,425.
THE FIRST TIME THIS ISSUE HAPPENED WAS JUNE OF 2011. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STALLED OUT AND I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO FORD THAT DAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THEY REPLACED IT. NOW IT'S AUGUST OF 2013 AND I'M HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AGAIN. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND MY VEHICLE STALLS AND I CAN'T ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO TURN MY CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES, AND TURN IT BACK ON TO CONTINUE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES THAT DOESN'T FIX IT. WHEN I CONTACTED MULLINAX FORD IN APOPKA, FL THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THERE HAS BEEN ISSUES WITH THAT CERTAIN PART AND THAT THEY HAVE THE MOST UPDATED VERSION OF THE PART THAT THEY SAID FORD HAS FIXED THE DEFICIENCY WITH IT. HOWEVER, THAT PART ISN'T COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ALMOST $300 TO HAVE IT REPLACED YET AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOURTEEN INCHES FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED AND REPAIRED BY A GLASS COMPANY. THE SERVICING DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHERE THE PROBLEM IS NOR HOW TO FIX IT- EVEN AFTER CALLING TECH SUPPORT AND HAVING A FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER ASSIGNED. WHILE THE LIGHT IS ON, MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS IS DOWNRIGHT FRIGHTFUL AS THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT DOES NOT WANT TO GO. ONE WOULD THINK THAT AFTER FIVE REPAIR ATTEMPTS IN 14 MONTHS THE ISSUE WOULD BE CORRECTED. THIS LAST TIME IT TOOK LESS THAN THREE DAYS AND 122 MILES FOR THE ISSUE TO REAPPEAR. SECOND INCIDENT WAS IDENTICAL TO FIRST. YEARS PASSED BY AS WE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH THE ROUGH SHIFTING. MORE RECENTLY, ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, CAR LOST POWER, WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO 50MPH WITH RPM AT 6,000. FORD SCANNED, CONCLUDED TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPAIRED SOON. LAST EVENING, MY WIFE WAS RETURNING FROM WORK, THE FUSION QUICKLY DECELERATED TO 15-20 MPH ON OPEN HIGHWAY. A SEMI NEARLY STRUCK HER CAR FROM BEHIND DUE TO THIS QUICK CHANGE OF SPEEDS, WHICH NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL OTHER COLLISIONS. LOCAL AUTO PARTS STATED CODE CAUSING ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE IS 'THROTTLE BODY' PROBLEMS, A CODE (WARRANTY) 'MISSED' BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS CAR HAS LIVED AN EASY LIFE, ONLY 59K MILES, VERY CONSERVATIVE DRIVER AND DRIVEN ON LEVEL, PAVED, MOSTLY INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. THE CAR WAS PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND BOUGHT NEW FROM THE LOT. PLEASE HELP US, AND THE PUBLIC WHO PREFER TO PURCHASE AMERICAN-MADE AUTOS, TO INSURE THAT THE 'POWER DOWN' MODE OF THIS TRANSMISSION IS ADDRESSED, AND IS A HIGH PRIORITY ITEM. I HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION THAT I BOUGHT IN JUNE 2009. SINCE DAY ONE I HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP GOING TO SECOND TO THIRD . UPON HARD ACCELERATION LIKE MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP AND THE RPMS WOULD GO TO REDLINE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER ON 11/13/2009 AND THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM. THEY REPROGRAMMED IT. ON 2/23/2010 CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK FOR SAME PROBLEMDEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION. 6/2010 RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD SAYING THERE WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. REPROGRAMMED AGAIN. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER NEW TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MENTIONED BEFORE.ON 5/24/2011 DEALER REBUILT THE NEW TRANSMISSION. DURING A LONG TRIP BACK FROM A WEEKEND VACATION I FELT MY FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL BEGIN TO WOBBLE. WHEN I PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT OUT I NOTICED THAT I ONLY HAD 3 LUGNUTS HOLDING THE WHEEL ON. AT THIS TIME I BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE ONLINE ONLY TO FIND NUMEROUS FORUMS OF OTHER 2010 FORD FUSION (SPORT AWD) OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SPONTANEOUS STALLING ISSUES. AGAIN, FORD SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX BECAUSE NO ERROR AND COULDN'T REPLICATE. OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS WE HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE (CURRENTLY AT DEALER NOW FOR THREE WEEKS). THE SAME CODES AS THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS FOUND WITH AN ADDITIONAL CODE OF P1A03. AGAIN THE DEALER CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AND REASSEMBLED. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ALONG ON THE HIGHWAY THE CARS AROUND YOU DO NOT EXPECT YOU TO DRAMATICALLY SLOW DOWN. IF YOU MANAGE TO SAFELY MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT YOU STILL FACE ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE BEING STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH TRAFFIC GOING BY AT 65 MPH.

THEN IN NOVEMBER 2011, WHEN ROTATING WHEELS, ONE "STUD" ON THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BROKE OFF WHEN REMOVING THE WHEEL. AGAIN TOOK TO LOCAL GARAGE TO HAVE "STUD" REPLACED. THEN IN JANUARY 2012, A RECALL FROM FORD NOTIFIED ME OF THE PROBLEM WITH LUG NUTS. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED. ONLY IN THE SHOP FOR ONE HOUR. SUPPOSE THEY ONLY CHANGED THE LUG NUTS IF ANYTHING AND NOT THE "STUDS". NOW IN FEBRUARY 2014, A RIGHT FRONT "STUD" BROKE OFF AGAIN WHILE HAVING THE TIRES ROTATED. FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, I HAD ALL THE "STUDS" REPLACED BY MY LOCAL SHOP THAT I TRUST. MY LOCAL SHOP ADVISED ME THERE WAS A NEW PART # FOR REPLACEMENT "STUDS". SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 11S23 SHOULD HAVE REQUIRED ALL "STUDS" REPLACED, NOT JUST THE NUTS AND STUDS CHECKED. IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL FATIGUE IN THE "STUDS" NOT THE NUTS. I SPENT $258.29 OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO FIX A SAFETY DEFECT AND STILL HAVE THE OLD DEFECTIVE PARTS TO SHOW FOR IT. I HOPE THIS COMPLAINT PREVENTS ANYONE ELSE FROM BEING HURT. *TR
WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY A NEIGHBOR NOTICED A LUG NUT FALL OFF MY VEHICLE. I STOPPED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AND WE DETERMINED THAT THE CAR WAS MISSING 2 LUG NUTS, ONE FROM EACH FRONT TIRE. WE WENT TO MAKE SURE THE REMAINING LUG NUTS WERE SECURELY ATTACHED AND WHEN APPLYING A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO ANOTHER LUG NUT IT SNAPPED OFF. THIS HAPPENED WITH TWO NUTS. THE INSIDE STUD THAT THE LUG NUT ATTACHED TO LOOKS AS IF THE METAL IS CRUMBLED. THE VEHICLE HAS 13600 MILES ON IT AND HAS HAD THE TIRES ROTATED ONCE AT 6600 MILES BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. THIS IS WELL WITHIN THE STANDARDS THE WARRANTY REQUIRES (AT 7500 AND 15000)
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, THE REAR LEFT WHEEL OF M Y 2010 FUSION WAS FALLING OFF. I MANAGED TO STOP, TOW AND FIX THE CAR. IN APRIL, MY PASSENGER RIGHT WHEEL FELL OFF CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL, HIT A POLE AND TOTAL MY 7 MONTH OLD VEHICLE. I WAS ISSUED NUMEROUS TICKETS AND LOST MY JOB DUE TO THIS ACCIDENT. ONE MONTH LATER, FORD CONTACTS ME TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE FIRST EPISODE (I RECEIVED THE CHECK), BUT TOOK NO BLAME FOR ANY OF THE PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL FROM FORD. AFTERWARD I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR MY FORD FUSION. *KB
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A 4-LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY, A SLOW-MOVING VEHICLE MERGED IN FRONT OF OUR FUSION FORCING A HARD BRAKING EVENT (THERE WAS SOMEBODY COMING UP FROM BEHIND IN THE LEFT LANE, PREVENTING A LANE CHANGE AT THAT INSTANT). THE FUSION WAS SLOWED DOWN TO 50-55 MPH AS THE CAR FROM BEHIND PASSED. THIS ALLOWED A LANE CHANGE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR THAT PULLED IN FRONT TO BEGIN WITH. HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO KEEP UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, 100% ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REQUIRED. AS THE FUSION ACCELERATED UP TO NEAR THE ORIGINAL SPEED, THERE WAS A WHINING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, THEN A VIOLENT JOLT. THIS JOLT SEVERELY SHOOK THE CAR, CAUSED A SUDDEN DECELERATION AND TO SWERVE ON THE HIGHWAY. LUCKILY, MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE SEAT BELT GRABBED. HAD MY WIFE NOT BEEN WEARING THE SEAT BELT, SHE IS CONVINCED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP. NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. (HOWEVER, A FAULT CODE SPECIFIC TO HYBRID VEHICLES WAS LOGGED IN THE PCM MEMORY.) THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONTINUATION OF THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THIS CAR HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING SINCE THE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUGUST, 2010 - AND FORD HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE FORD DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE CAR IS NOW AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP.
TRANSMISSION SLIP INTO NEUTRAL AND REVS PAST 4000RPM, 1-2 & 2-3, ALSO SEVERE HESITATION WHEN SLOW DOWN THEN TRY TO SPEED UP AGAIN (I.E. STOP & GO TRAFFIC). HAS PUT ME IN UNSAFE SITUATIONS REQUIRING DEFENSIVE DRIVING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 4+ TIMES AND EACH TIME ONLY "CALIBRATION". SERVICE DEPT IS VERY HELPFUL BUT HINDERED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S INABILITY TO SOLVE DEFECT. ALSO, WAS GIVEN PRINT OUT OF FORD ADVISING SERVICE THAT THE 2-3 HESITATION IS " DEEMED NORMAL AND IT MEETS DESIGN INTENT AT THIS TIME".100% UNSAFE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN IN CAR AS THE GEAR SLIPPING AND OR HESITATION FOLLOWED BY SUDDENLY ENGAGING THEN SPEEDING UP PUTS THE DRIVER IN UNPREDICTABLE CONDITIONS. HAS PUT ME IN NUMEROUS NEAR ACCIDENTS (SPECIFICALLY WHEN MERGING OR CHANGING LANES AND YIELDING TO TURN LEFT). MOST RECENT "FIX" WAS 2/2/12 AND TRANSMISSION STILL SLIPPING, HESITATING, SLAMMING INTO GEAR. HAVE FILED WITH BBB AUTO LINE. FORD MOTOR CO. MORE DETAIL ON COMPLAIN 10496424. A FRACTURED LUG NUT OR STUD WAS DETECTED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL ON APRIL 26, 2011. VEHICLE WAS AT 49000 MILES. A NEW LUG NUT/STUD WAS INSTALLED. ON FEBRUARY 4, 2013 THREE LUG NUTS/STUDS WERE FOUND MISSING ON THE SAME WHEEL. IN ADDITION, ANOTHER LUG NUT/STUD IS MISSING ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL. VEHICLE'S VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN RELATED RECALLS. *TR
MY VEHICLE CAME WITH THE STANDARD CLOTH FLOOR MATS, BUT MY DEALER "THREW IN" THE FACTORY RUBBER ONES FROM ANOTHER FUSION FREE OF CHARGE. I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW AND TWICE I HAVE HAD A STICKING ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FLOOR MAT CREEPS FORWARD AND WILL SOMETIMES CATCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL JUST RIGHT AND KEEP THE PEDAL AT WHATEVER THROTTLE SETTING IT WAS LAST AT. THIS HAS NEVER CAUSED ANY REAL PROBLEMS FOR ME, BUT I FEEL THAT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT FORD MO CO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS AND EITHER ENCOURAGE DEALERS TO NOT EXCHANGE THE FLOOR MATS, OR TO INSTALL SOME SORT OF HOLDING MECHANISM TO KEEP THE RUBBER MATS FROM INTERFERING WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *TR
ERRATIC SHIFTING. SLIPPING CLUTCHES. HOLDS ONTO GEARS WITH NO SHIFT. ACCELERATION HESITATION. EXTREME AT TIMES. TWICE, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AND MERGE ONTO EXPRESSWAY, THE ENGINE DROPPED TO ALMOST IDLE FOR OVER A SECOND. WHEN THE ENGINE DID CATCH IT WENT TO RED LINE SO QUICKLY HAD TO LET UP ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS FURTHER CONFUSED THE TRANS. NEARLY GOT REAR ENDED BUT WAS NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE QUICK REACTION OF THE OTHER DRIVERS. SOFTWARE HAS BEEN RELOADED TWICE. NOT ANY BETTER. FORD KEEPS PROMISING A FIX IS COMING. I HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION SE WITH 12593.2 MILES WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. THE WHEELS HAVE NEVER BEEN REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. BEFORE REMOVING THE LUG NUTS OF THE FRONT DRIVERS' WHEEL TO DO A TIRE ROTATION, I NOTICED A LUG NUT MISSING. THE STUD HAD FAILED. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE REMAINING STUDS AND HAVE READ THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR FAILURES. I WILL BE CONSULTING MY DEALER MONDAY FOR A SOLUTION. *TR
WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH A TRANSMISSION LEAK EARLY ON DUE TO A BAD SEAL IN THE TRANS AXLE. IT WAS REPLACED AND ALL SEEMED WELL FRO AWHILE. THEN WE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION "SLIPPING" BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A "COMPUTER PROBLEM" THAT NEED AN UPDATE AND THAT IT SHOULD BE OK NOW. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AT A LATER DATE. TECHNICIAN TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AND THEN TOLD MY WIFE THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, THAT IS THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSED TO SHIFT. AT TIMES IT JERKS REALLY BAD WHEN SHIFTING. NOT SURE IF THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM CAN AFFECT MY FUEL IN-EFFICIENCY BUT, THE CAR IS FAR FROM THE MILEAGE ADVERTISED FOR THIS MAKE. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AT THIS POINT. I'M AFRAID WE ARE GOING TO GET PUSHED RIGHT THROUGH OUR WARRANTY PERIOD, THEN THAT IS WHEN THEY WILL FIND THE PROBLEM! WE HAVE INSISTED ON A NEW TRANSMISSION FROM THE START, JUST TO BE STOPPED DEAD IN OUR TRACKS WITH A FLAT REFUSAL. HOPING I CAN UNLOAD THIS CAR BEFORE SOMETHING BIG HAPPENS. SEEMS A SHAME THAT FORD IS THE ONLY AUTOMAKER TO KEEP IT'S HEAD ABOVE WATER AND NOT HAVE TO BE BAILED OUT. THE SOONER THEY ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM HERE AND RECTIFY IT THE BETTER FOR EVERYONE.
