TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEEL LUG STUDS FRACTURED ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PURCHASED PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ADVANCE TRACK AND POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SMELL OF GAS ON PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR TOOK IT INTO BODY SHOP SAID IT WAS A LEAK AT THE SEAM OF THE FUEL TANK TALKED TO FORD SAID SINCE WE WERE OUT OF WARRANTY WOULD NOT REPLACE FUEL TANK...CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD THIS IS CRAZY FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN TO FUEL TANK IN JUST 5 YEARS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NOTICED ON WAY HOME THAT THE RIGHT REAR TURN SIGNAL WAS BLINKING FASTER THAN USUAL. HAVING HAD THE LIGHT BULB REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT THE DEALER LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO, I THOUGHT THIS WAS RATHER SOON FOR THE BULB TO HAVE BURNT OUT TWICE NOW ON A 4.5 YEAR OLD CAR. WENT THROUGH THE STEPS TO GET TO THE LIGHT, NOTICED A SEVERE BURN MARK AROUND THE BULB AND HOUSING, AND AM UNABLE TO REMOVE THE BULB FROM THE HOUSING AT ALL. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT COMBUSTION HAS OCCURRED AROUND THE LIGHT BULB AS THERE ARE BURN MARKS. I BELIEVE FROM A QUICK GLANCE THAT FORD KNOWS OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND IS IGNORING IT. I BELIEVE THERE COULD BE FIRES CAUSED BY THIS DEFECT THAT IS WIDELY REPORTED BY SEARCHING FOR FORD BRAKE LIGHT MELTED ON ANY SEARCH ENGINE. *TR
FORD FUSION TRANSMISSION OIL LEAKS FROM LEFT SIDE HALF SHAFT AREA. HAD TRANSMISSION WORK DONE AT 30,000 FROM SCREWED UP TRANSMISSION. WAS TOLD SEAL WAS TOO SMALL AND FORD NEW AND WOULD REPLACE IF THOSE AFFECTED BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIRS. NOW AT 70,000 MILES, LEAK AS LISTED ABOVE WITH TRANS SLIP AS SO MANY POSTED ON INTERNET AND GOING THROUGH THE SAME SITUATION. FORD WILL NOT REPAIR SINCE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED THAT IT IS A RECALL ITEM. HOW MANY DO YOU NEED TO GET THIS FIXED BEFORE IT BECOMES A DANGER DRIVING AND TRANS SLIPS WHEN COLD AND HAVE TO KEEP FILING TRANS FLUID. I BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND STILL IN MY POSSESSION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, ENGINE LIGHT, AND ADVANCE TRACK FAILURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT STARTING IMMEDIATELY AFTER PUMPING GAS. I DROVE IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT THEN WENT OFF AND CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY AND HAS STAYED ON. THE OTHER NIGHT AS I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND CAME TO A STOP I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS SHAKING HORRIBLY. I TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE THE ENGINE LIGHT TESTED AND IT STATED CODE: P144A EVAP PURGE VAPOR LINE RESTRICTED/BLOCKED. THE OTHER CODE WAS: P1450 UNABLE TO BLEED UP BLEED FUEL TANK VACUUM. I CALLED FORD TO COMPLAIN AND TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LINE. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2012 I HAD A LIGHT ABOUT THE FUEL TANK COME ON IMMEDIATELY. I TOOK IT BACK TO FORD AND THEY CORRECTED IT. NOW I AGAIN AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL TANK. WHEN I CALLED FORD TO TELL THEM THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN THE CAR THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL AND BASICALLY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. EXPLAINING THAT NOW THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WITH A FUEL TANK ON THIS CAR AND THAT THEY SHOULD REPAIR IT I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. NOW IF THIS WAS A ONE TIME THING IT WOULD BE ONE THING BUT TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN SHOWS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE MAKING OF THIS CAR. ONLINE I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES WITH FORD MODEL CARS. *TR
ON 1-30-15 WHILE DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD I RECEIVED A MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN IT READ SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, I THEN LOST ALL POWER STEERING IN THE CAR. SO WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED UP THE DISPLAY MESSAGES TO SEE THAT THEY WERE ABOUT. I SAW THAT ITS A POWER STEERING ISSUE AND NEED TO GO TO THE DEALER. SO ON 2-4-15 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TO SEE WHAT WAS THE EXACT ISSUE ON THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THE STEERING GEAR WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PARTS AND LABOR WILL BE $1,600. ONCE I CAME HOME FROM THE DEALER AND STARTED TO LOOK UP MORE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SAW THAT IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH FORD AND THEY HAVEN'T MADE ANY RECALLS OR ATTEMPTS TO TRY AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE WITH THESE CARS. THEY ARE ONLY CORRECTING THE ISSUES WITH CAR THAT HAVEN'T BEEN BUILT YET. I DRIVE A 2010 FORD FUSION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY TO 60 MPH. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT INTERFERED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND NOTICED THE ADVANCETRAC NOTIFICATION ON AND SOON AS I TURNED THE WHEEL IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD AND TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH. WHEN I WENT TO PULL FORWARD I NEARLY JUMPED THE CURB BECAUSE I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL FAST ENOUGH. I CAN NO LONGER WORK AS MY REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE ALL DAY. AND DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS $1400-2000 ESTIMATED COST OF FIX. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS VIDEOS AND COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE IT BECOMES FATAL. *TR

1. THE POWER STEERING WENT BAD IN DEC. 2014/ COST $1600 TO FIX. DONE AT CROSSROADS FORD IN KEARNEY NE. 2. LESS THAN 1 MONTH LATER IN JAN. 2015, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED LEAKING FLUID AND HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH SHIFTING. LOOKS LIKE NOW I'LL HAVE TO PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION. 2010 FORD FUSION SE WITH 109,000 MILES. *TR
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION WHICH SUFFERED A LOSS POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE HAD AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD, DISPLAYING "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". POWER STEERING LIGHT AFTER THE LOW TIRE LIGHT APPEARED THIS OCCURRENCE ALSO APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO WHAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED . THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL FAULT ASSIST ALARM COMES ON WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AND ALL I HAVE IS MANUAL STEERING AND POPPING.
POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. WITHOUT MY UPPER BODY STRENGTH THEIR WOULD HAVE UNDOUBTEDLY BEEN A CRASH. EVEN WITH MY UPPER BODY STRENGTH, WHICH IS CONSIDERABLE, AN ACCIDENT WAS NARROWLY AVOIDED. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT REMAINED AS SMALL DRIPS AND NOT IN ANY HEAVY VOLUME. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD TO BE DIAGNOSED AND MECHANIC STATED THAT A BUSHEL NEEDED TO BE ADDED TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE BUSHEL IS NOT CURRENTLY INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE (STOCK) BUT THAT FORD RECOMMENDS THAT ONE BE ADDED. TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR WAS AROUND $1100. IT DOESN'T SEEM VERY FAIR THAT FORD RECOGNIZED THAT THEY NEEDED TO ADD THAT ADDITIONAL PART TO THE CAR TO KEEP IT FROM LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE PART. INSTEAD THEY EXPECT HARD WORKING AMERICANS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THEIR MESS UP. ONE MORE REASON TO BUY FOREIGN - IF AMERICAN CAR COMPANIES WANT THE SUPPORT OF THE AMERICAN CONSUMER THEY SHOULD STOP SCREWING THEM OVER FOR A PROFIT AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR NEEDS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN THE RIGHT PASSENGER MIRROR EXPLODED WITH A LOUD BOOM. THE OUTSIDE PORTIONS OF THE MIRROR WERE LYING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD INTACT. THE INTERIOR PLASTIC WAS BLOWN TO SEVERAL PIECES. HAD SOMEONE OR SOMETHING BEEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR, THEY WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN INJURED. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR-AND-TEAR ON A CAR; THIS IS A DEFECT. IT IS APPARENTLY CONNECTED WITH THE DEFROSTING SYSTEM. FORD ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
I OWN A 2010 FORD FUSION WITH ONLY 31,500 MILES. THE LH HALF AXLE STATED TO HEMORRHAGE TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT WAS ABOUT 3 WEEKS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FROM WHAT MY RESEARCH SHOWS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TAKE OFF THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT, IT FAILED TO RETRACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RETRACTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST AS THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
HAD SEVERAL PASSENGERS COMPLAIN THAT THE PASSENGER HEATED SEAT WAS GETTING TOO HOT AND BURNING THEIR REAR END. THEY WOULD HAVE TO TURN IT OFF. THE A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER MY DAUGHTER WENT TO TURN THE HEAT ON HER SEAT AND THE SEAT WOULD NOT TURN ON. THE LIGHT WOULD TURN ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN GO RIGHT BACK OFF. WE HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES AND MADE SURE THAT THE SEAT IS PROPERLY PLUGGED IN BUT THE PASSENGER SEAT WILL NOT HEAT. AFTER CHECKING THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS PAGE IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT FORD SHOULD DO A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
AS HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED DOZENS OF TIMES ON SEVERAL WEBSITES, I TOO, LIKE OTHERS, EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE BY MY 2010 FORD FUSION. LIKE OTHER DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS, I TOO FOUND THAT, IN A SITUATION WHERE SUDDEN BRAKING IS REQUIRED, I EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. NORMAL BRAKING ON ROADS AND STREETS HAS NOT RESULTED IN BRAKE FAILURE FOR ME; HOWEVER, IN THE ONE SITUATION WHERE SUDDEN BRAKING WAS REQUIRED, MY 2010 FORD FUSION -- FULLY SERVICED SOLELY AND REGULARLY (EACH ~5000 MILES) BY FORD SERVICE TECHNICIANS SINCE ITS PURCHASE NEW IN 2009, NOW AT 81,000 MILES -- I EXPERIENCED: 1) NO BRAKING, 2) NO SLOWING DOWN, 3) NO FRONT-END-OF-THE-VEHICLE-DIVING-DOWN WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED (INERTIA), 4) NO SKID MARKS ON THE DRY PAVEMENT -- JUST UTTER AND COMPLETE FAILURE BY THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION AS I DROVE AROUND A BUILDING (15-20 MPH) AND SUDDENLY SAW, BRAKED, & HIT A STATIONARY PICK-UP TRUCK ON THE ROAD. AT THE SCENE OF THE CRASH, UPON ATTACHING THE 2010 FORD FUSION WITH CHAINS, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER MENTIONED THAT HE SAW BRAKE FAILURE. FOLLOWING THE CRASH, I HAD A MECHANIC GO WITH ME TO THE SALVAGE YARD WHERE MY AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE 2010 FORD FUSION TOWED; THE MECHANIC DID A 15-20 MINUTE INSPECTION, WITH A SALVAGE YARD EMPLOYEE WATCHING, WHICH INDICATED THAT, YES, INDEED, THE BRAKES HAD FAILED BEFORE THERE WAS THE COLLISION (THE AREA OF COLLISION ON THE FRONT RIGHT DESTROYED THE ABS AREA). WHILE THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY DEFICIENCIES IN THE BRAKE LINES, WHICH WERE CHECKED REGULARLY BY THE FORD SERVICE TECHNICIANS, THERE WAS FAILURE INVOLVING THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AT THE TIME OF SUDDEN BRAKING. RATHER THAN BEING DRY OR DUSTY, THE MBC WAS COVERED COMPLETELY IN GOO. NOT A SIGN OF SAFETY OR PROPERLY-WORKING PARTS. DESPITE THESE TRUTHS, MY INSURANCE COMPANY TELLS ME I HAVE TO PAY, SINCE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED. WHY NOT YET??? *TR

THIS ISSUE HAPPENS OFTEN. IT HAS HAPPENED IN NEUTRAL, FIRST AND SECOND GEARS. I WILL EITHER BE STATIONARY OR DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WILL FAIL AND THROW UP A FAULT ON MY DASH. AT THAT POINT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR.
JUST MADE IT HOME FROM WORK AND PICKING UP MY SON FROM SCHOOL. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BEGAN BACKING OUT THE DRIVEWAY, WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY. 2010 FUSION UNDER $50K MILES. MY CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY STATED THE SENSORS IN THE SEATS ARE BAD. AIRBAG WON'T DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ERROR. THEY ARE WANTING TO CHARGE OVER $1000 TO FIX. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING AIRBAG PROBLEMS AT 5 YEARS OLD. I DID HAVE A RECALL ON A 2001 FORD ESCAPE OF 12V353000. I DID HAVE THE SPEED CONTROL STICK CAUSING A HEAD ON COLLISION AT 60 MPH BREAKING MY BACK AND SHOULDER. THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN AN ACCIDENT WOULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR
MY SON WAS RUNNING ERRANDS. HE WENT INSIDE A STORE & WHEN HE GOT BACK IN THE CAR THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS ADVANCE TRAC. I WENT ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF I COULD FIND OUT WHAT KIND OF REPAIR MIGHT BE NEEDED & HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR THE EXACT STEERING FAILURE MY FORD FUSION HAD EXPERIENCED. I AM THANKFUL MY SON WAS NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME THE STEERING FAILED. HOWEVER, I AM VERY CONCERNED AT THIS TIME BECAUSE I OWN A 2ND 2010 FORD FUSION WHICH MY OTHER SON DRIVES. I BOUGHT BOTH MY SONS A FORD FUSION AWD BECAUSE I WANTED THEM TO HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR NOT INFORMING OWNERS OF THIS POTENTIAL POWER STEERING FAILURE. THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO REPLACE THE FAULTY STEERING BEFORE A SERIOUS OR EVEN FATAL ACCIDENT HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE. I HAVE ALWAYS DONE THE REQUIRED PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ON MY CARS & KEEP THEM IN PERFECT CONDITION. I HAD TO PUT THE FULL AMOUNT ON A CHARGE CARD, WHICH NOW I WILL PAY INTEREST ON. I DON'T HAVE THE FINANCIAL ABILITY TO PAY FOR OR EVEN "CHARGE" ANOTHER $1750.00 TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING ON MY OTHER 2010 FORD FUSION. I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CURB DOING 55 MPH AND ALL THE SUDDEN THE STEERING WENT OUT. WAY BEYOND MANUAL STEERING, EXTREMELY HARD TO HANDLE. IT WENT OFF THE ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM FLASHED ON THE DASH BOARD AND ONCE AGAIN I LOST ALL POWER STEERING CONTROL. IN DOING SO THE VEHICLE TOOK A HARD RIGHT ALMOST PUTTING MY VEHICLE UNDERNEATH A TRACTOR TAILOR. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AND LIMPED THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY HOME. THE FAULT IN THIS VEHICLE ALMOST KILLED ME AND MY FAMILY , THIS IS A ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AROUND THE NATION. I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION WHILE ON VACATION. I WAS DRIVING MY FAMILY TO BREAKFAST AND I NOTICED THAT AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD, DISPLAYING "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". WHILE THESE MESSAGES CAME ON, MY POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO MANAGE STEERING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNING IN TO OUR DESTINATION. KNOWING THE DIFFICULTY THAT I HAD IN TRYING TO STEER TO SAFETY, IT SCARES ME TO THINK THAT MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND MAY NOT HAVE FARED AS WELL AS I AM MUCH STRONGER THAN SHE. WHILE OUT OF STATE, IT WAS VERY PRESSING THAT I GET THE POWER STEERING REPAIRED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. I HAD TO MANAGE STEERING TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER, FOR WHICH I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH. I HAD TO SPEND $1,500+ FOR THE REPAIR, ALONG WITH THE COST AND NEED FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR, MY STEERING FAILED AGAIN. AFTER RETURNING THE CAR TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, THEIR SUGGESTION WAS THAT "IF THIS FAILS AGAIN, YOU SHOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE TO YOUR HOME DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR." I HAD TO DRIVE HOME, OVER 600 MILES WITHOUT POWER STEERING AS I HAD NO OTHER OPTIONS. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURED, MY FUSION HAD ONLY A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES OVER 75,000 MILES. I CAN SAFELY SAY THAT THIS STEERING FAILURE CAUSED A LOT OF UNDUE STRESS OVER THIS VACATION, ALONG WITH A SUBSTANTIAL LEVEL OF DANGER. IT IS ALSO VERY TROUBLING TO KNOW THAT THE SAME MANUFACTURER THAT PRODUCED THE STEERING IN MY VEHICLE, HAS ALSO PRODUCED THE STEERING THAT HAS FAILED IN OTHER FORD VEHICLES, SUCH AS THE NEWER FORD EXPLORERS (2011 YEAR+, I THINK). *TR

HE WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED HIS OWN DAUGHTER IN LAW HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THAT IS HOW HE IS PRETTY SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND THE COST TO REPAIR. I ASKED ABOUT A RECALL AND HE HAD NOT HEARD OF ANYTHING AS OF NOW. I'M A SINGLE MOM AND CAN'T AFFORD THIS REPAIR. LOCAL FORD DEALER DID DIAGNOSIS AND CONCLUDED THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY WAS BAD, TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY MUST REPLACE THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY AND CHARGE ME $450. THEY SAID THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY, AND PARTS DO GO BAD SOMETIMES. REALLY, IN 4 YEARS? FOR A WELL MAINTAINED, GARAGED CAR AT 34K MILEAGE? THE PROBLEM SMELLS LIKE A DEFECT, NOT A STANDARD WEAR AND TEAR, WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR REPLACING A DEFECT PART? HOW DO I KNOW WHETHER THE NEW PART IS NOT A DEFECT AGAIN?
