The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) SUDDENLY FAIL WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN INCREASED STEERING EFFORT AND AT TIMES IT'S WILL TURN WAY TO EASY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MERGE THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT DURING THE INCIDENT THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE SENSOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPLACED A COMPUTER, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SPEED SUDDENLY DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
RECEIVED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" INTERMITTENT WARINGS LAST MONTH (JUNE) WHEN STARTING CAR. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSTICS /TROUBLESHOOTING FAILED TO IDENTIFY PROBLEM. PROBLEM WAS CONSISTENTLY CLEARED BY TURNING OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTING. ON 28 JULY, POWER STEERING WAS LOST COMPLETELY DURING ENGINE START AND SUCCESSIVE RESTARTS FAILED TO CLEAR THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" FAULT. ALSO RECEIVED "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" WARNING. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTICS DETERMINED THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPAIR ESTIMATE IS $2000! HAD CAR FOR LESS THAN THREE YEARS AND CAR ONLY HAD 78,000 ON IT. (FORD CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED MODEL.) VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CAR. WORST FORD CAR I'VE OWNED. CURSORY WEB SEARCHES ON THIS POWER STEERING PROBLEM REVEALS A MYRIAD OF OCCURRENCES FOR THE 2010 FUSION. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING REPRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS RESULTS IN FATALITIES. NHTSA WEBSITE CURRENTLY INDICATES 120 COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE POWER STEERING FAILURE ON THE 2010 FORD FUSION (MORE THAN 10% OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE CAR). WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL OR TSB ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM? FORD EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IN THE ESCAPE AND RECALLED OVER 1 MILLION CARS IN MAY. *JS
I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER. CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY AT IDLE. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. HAPPENED AGAIN A MILE OR SO LATER. *TR
VEHICLE BROKE DOWN LAST EVENING, STALLED WITH WRENCH LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER HAS DIAGNOSED FAULTY ELECTRONIC SIGNAL IN THE THROTTLE BODY. DEALER HAS OFFERED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY FOR $397. (NOTE: MAFS WAS REPLACED IN THIS VEHICLE IN JANUARY, 2010, ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT -- NOT SURE IF THAT IS RELEVANT OR NOT.) FORD CURRENTLY HAS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM #13N03 FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THROTTLE BODIES FOR OTHER 2010 FUSIONS, BUT THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM. PERHAPS IT WOULD BE WISE FOR FORD TO TAKE A SECOND LOOK TO DETERMINE IF THEIR CURRENT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED? *JS
MY SON WAS DRIVING AND HIS POWER STEERING FAILED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO HUNTINGTON FORD AND HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING GEAR REPLACED. I OPENED A CASE WITH FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS (CASE # [XXX]) AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM. I HAD TO PAY 1675.18 FOR THE PART TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND THAT THIS IS OCCURRING IN ALL FORD FUSIONS FROM 2010 - 2014 MODELS. I FEEL THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS AND AMAZED THAT A RECALL HAS NOT ALREADY OCCURRED! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ACTION TAKEN AGAINST THE FORD COMPANY. IF THEY ARE ORDERED FOR A RECALL ON THIS PART; I WOULD LIKE RE-IMBURSEMENT FOR WHAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND LABOR. I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE GOING 65 MPH WHEN MY GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING, IT WOULD NOT MAKE MY CAR ACCELERATE. THE RPMS DROPPED DOWN TO 1000-1500 AND MY CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AS I SLOWED DOWN THE CAR JUMPED AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS STALLING OUT. THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH ALSO ILLUMINATED. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND LET THE CAR RUN FOR ABOUT 1O MORE MINUTES BEFORE IT STALLED OUT.THINKING THAT MY CAR WAS BROKEN DOWN AND I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GET IT TOWED. THE POWER STEERING ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT ANY PRIOR ISSUES. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE RECEIVED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, THEY INSIST THERE IS NO RECALL. THEY QUOTED $2000 TO REPAIR. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A HUGE RECURRING PROBLEM FOR 2010 FORD FUSION OWNERS AND THERE IS EVEN A LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD. WE CALLED FORD AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
WRENCH LIGHT WENT ON IN 2010 FORD FUSION V6 SEL. VEHICLE HAD TROUBLE ACCELERATING WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED. RPM'S WERE SPORADIC AND TRANSMISSION WAS NOT PROPERLY FUNCTIONING. FELT LIKE GEARS WERE JUMPING BACK AND FORTH. CAR WAS JERKY AND WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE A LITTLE IF PEDAL WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN. WHEN I GOT VEHICLE HOME I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND LEFT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. I STARTED VEHICLE AGAIN AND LIGHT WAS OFF AND RODE FINE. *TR
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED WITH NO PRIOR WARNING WHILE IN REVERSE. ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK FAILED AFTER ONLY 80K MILES ON CAR. PURCHASED NEW FROM FORD DEALER. 2ND MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. THE FIRST WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THIS YEAR AND MODEL HAVE SO MANY ISSUES. JUST A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH WILL TELL YOU THAT. *TR
NOTICED FUEL SMELL AND FUEL ON GROUND AFTER FILLING UP CAR. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECKED UNDER THE CAR AND SAID THE GAS TANK MAY HAVE A CRACK ON THE TOP. SUGGESTED TO ONLY FILL UP HALF WAY AND TANK SHOULD NOT LEAK. WE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AND ARE WAITING FOR REPLY. *TR
CAR STALLED ALL OF A SUDDEN TRAVELING 70 MPH IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY. THE THROTTLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND I WAS FORCED TO ABRUPTLY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CAR SPUTTERED WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT AWAY AND THE ENGINE STARTED PROPERLY. I DIAGNOSED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND GOT TWO CODES, P2111 AND P2112. THE THROTTLE BODY IS GETTING STUCK OPEN AND STUCK CLOSED CAUSING THE CAR TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE TRAVELING ON A BUSY ROAD AND COULD DEFINITELY CAUSE INJURY IF SOMEONE IS UNABLE TO REACT TO THE SITUATION DUE TO THEIR CAR BEING INOPERABLE. *TR

AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT OVER NIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION FLARED FOR THE FIRST FEW SHIFTS. THE CAR THEN BECOMES A BIT JERKY WHEN SHIFTING GEARS.. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET AT 35 MPH AND HIT A LARGE POTHOLE ON THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED AAA TO CHANGE MY TIRE. AAA CAME AND CHANGED MY TIRE, AND THEN WHEN I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON IT SAID POWER STEERING FAILURE. I ASKED THE AAA WORKER IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG AND HE CHECKED EVERYTHING OUT AND COULDN'T PROVIDE A REASON FOR WHY THE POWER STEERING WOULD HAVE FAILED. THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND REQUIRED ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO DRIVE THE 1 MILE LEFT TO MY HOME. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THE STEERING WAS STILL VERY DIFFICULT. FORD DID NOT PROVIDE ME WITH AN EXPLANATION FOR WHY THE POWER STEERING FAILED. I PAID $1,923.79 TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR AND PERFORM PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION (CODE P07AE IN PSCM). *TR
MY POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND WITHIN TEN MILES OF THE LIGHT COMING ON THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHERE I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW STEERING RACK AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FUSION. IT HAS BEEN THIRTEEN MONTHS SINCE THEN AND I NEED TO REPLACE IT YET AGAIN. TWICE IN THIRTEEN MONTHS AND WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THEY DIDN'T GET BACK TO ME. MY CAR SHOULDN'T COST $4400 IN THIRTEEN MONTHS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH WHEN I LOST THE THROTTLE. THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING BUT WITHOUT ACCELERATION. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT RESTARTED AND CONTINUED. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AT THE INTERSECTION OF TWO MERGING EXPRESSWAYS THE THROTTLE STOPPED WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO STOP IN THE VEE JUST AS THE EXPRESSWAYS MERGED. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HAD IT HAPPENED 200 YARDS AHEAD I MAY HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE ROAD. FORD FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT I AM AFRAID THAT AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER COULD HAVE HAD A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS AN OCCURRENCE NOT TO HAVE A RECALL. *TR
I PARKED MY CAR ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. I GOT OUT, LIKE I HAVE DONE MANY TIMES, PUT MY CAR IN PARK. I LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING AND WAS OUT GETTING MY DOG SOME WATER, PLACED THE WATER ON THE DECK AND TURNED TO GET IN MY CAR, I HEARD THIS POP OF A SOUND AND MY CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD. IT STAYED ON THIS GOOD ROAD I HAD INTO MY GARDEN, GOING BACKWARD, I TRIED TO GET IN THE CAR AND STOP IT, BUT THE ANGLE OF ENTRY AND SPEED KEPT ME FROM DOING THAT. IT THEN TOOK A PATH OFF THE ROAD AND I WATCHED AS IT VANISHED INTO A GULLY, ABOUT 8 TO 12 FEET DEEP. IT COST ME APPROX $3800.00 TO REPAIR, PLUS RENTAL, PLUS WRECKER, PLUS CHECKING THE UNDER BODY AND TIRES, WHEELS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE GEARS HAD JUMPED LOOSE. IT WAS A HORROR SHOW, PLUS COSTLY, AND I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT IT WENT IN THE GULLY, INSTEAD OF THE YARD NEXT TO MY PROPERTY WHERE THREE KIDS WERE PLAYING. I HAVE HEARD OTHER SIMILAR STORIES, WHAT HAS OR IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?
SITTING WITH THE VEHICLE IN PARK, IN A PARKING LOT. WHEN THE SHIFTER WAS MOVED INTO DRIVE, A POWER STEERING FAULT ERROR FLASHED IN THE MESSAGED CENTER ALONG WITH A "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" ERROR. ULTIMATELY LOST FULL FUNCTION OF THE POWER STEERING. THE CAR SAT IN MY DRIVE WAY WHILE I FIRST TRIED TO SEE IF THERE WAS AN EASY FIX I COULD DO MYSELF. AFTER 3 DAYS OF SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY THE CARS POWER STEERING WAS MECHANICALLY FROZEN, AND I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT ALL, EVEN WITHOUT POWER STEERING. I TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP WHERE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED, AFTER PARTS LABOR AND A NEW ALIGNMENT THE TOTAL COST WAS BETWEEN 1600 AND 1700 DOLLARS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY FUSION DOWN A 45 MPH LOCAL ROAD WHEN IT STARTED SHAKING AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING. I PULLED OVER THE SIDE OR THE ROAD, STOPPED THE CAR, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND REMOVED THE KEY. I WAITED A MINUTE THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. WHEN I STARTED ACCELERATING THE CAR WAS JERKING. I GOT AROUND FIVE MILES AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. I REPEATED TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, WAITING, THEN STARTING BACK UP AND WITHIN THE MINUTE IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF TWO MORE TIMES. I MANAGED TO GET HOME AND CALL THE DEALERSHIP. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR AN HOUR THEN DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WITH NO ISSUES. I HAVE YET TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. BUT I SEE THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE FORD OWNERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND HAD TO PULL OVER IN HIGH SPEEDS WHEN MY VEHICLE COULD NOT ACCELERATE. WAS TOWED AND AUTOBODY SHOP FOUND THAT THE CAR WAS IN "LIMP MODE". ENGINE CODE P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM (TAC) STUCK OPEN. DIAGNOSIS SHOWS AN INTERNAL FAULT WITH THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT. *TR
FORD HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR AC EQUIPMENT SINCE 2006. THEY HAVE IGNORED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE LEFT TO OWNER FOR REPAIRS. THE PROBLEM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AC BUT WITH THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR EVAPORATOR. WHICH CAN EITHER OVER HEAT OR FREEZE UP BEHIND THE DASH. IT COST MOST OWNER A HIGH LABOR COST FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS DEFECT THAT FORD IS AWARE OF. VEHICLES INVOLVE WITH THIS PROBLEM ARE NOT JUST THE FORD FUSION BUT ALSO THE LINCOLN LS AS WELLAS THE 2012-2014 FUSIONS. BEINGS THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEY BARE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO RECTIFY THE DEFECT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROAD WHEN THE POWER STEERING MAINTENANCE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE AD TRACK MAINTENANCE ALERT. I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR ABOUT 3 MIN. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE LIGHT CHANGED TO POWER STEERING MAINTENANCE NOW AND I NO LONGER HAD ANY POWER STEERING. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TO DRIVE MY CAR SO MY HUSBAND HAD TO PICK ME UP AND DRIVE IT HOME. I READ THAT THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SYSTEM, BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR RECALL. *TR
AS I PULLED OUT ONTO A BUSY STREET GOING TO WORK MY CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO GAS, I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESPONSE OTHER THAN A WEAK ATTEMPT AT A LURCH. I HAD TO PULL OVER (PARTIALLY OFF OF THE ROAD) INTO A NEIGHBOR'S YARD TO AVOID BEING HIT BY A LARGE TRANSPORT TRUCK COMING UP ON ME RAPIDLY. I PUSHED IT INTO A "TURNED AROUND" POSITION AND BETWEEN PUSHING AN THE LURCHING GOT BACK HOME. THE ROAD I WAS ON WAS TOO NARROW AND TOO BUSY TO JUST LEAVE IT. I HAVE A HISTORY OF BACK SURGERY AND THIS DID NOT HELP!!!! AFTER I GOT IT TO THE HILL NEAR MY HOME I COASTED IN STILL WITH NO RESPONSE TO THE GAS. THERE WAS AN ORANGE LIGHT ON WITH A WRENCH PICTURE. I LOOKED THIS UP ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS SITES WITH OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NO HELP FROM FORD! SOME WERE ACTUALLY REAR-ENDED ON THE INTERSTATES SO I WAS FORTUNATE IN THAT ASPECT! (SO FAR!) THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS THAT FORD CANNOT DIAGNOSE IT UNLESS THE LIGHT IS CURRENTLY ON! THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THIS IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN AND THERE IS NO WAY TO "MOVE FAST" ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. THIS COULD BE FATAL IN FAST MOVING THICK TRAFFIC WITH LARGER VEHICLES COMING UP FROM BEHIND AT SPEED LIMITS OF 70 MPH. THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE WHEN IT DOES THIS AND RPMS DO NOT GO ABOVE 1000RPM. MY HEATED SEATS ARE SUPER DEFECTIVE. I HAVE ONLY USED MY HEATED SEATS A HANDFUL OF TIMES. EVERY TIME I TURNED IT ON IT WOULD GET SO HOT IT WAS BURNING MY BUTT, LITERALLY. I EVEN PUT A SEAT COVER ON MY SEAT AND FOLDED A BLANKET 4 TIMES (WHICH MADE 8 LAYERS OF MATERIAL) AND IT WAS SO HOT BURNED ME THROUGH ALL OF THE LAYERS. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD AT ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR, WHEN A "SERVICE ADVANCTRAC" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AS WELL AS A POWER STEERING FAULT. THEY REPLACED THAT (AT A COST OF $1500) AND THE POWER STEERING NOW WORKS AGAIN, BUT I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT ANY LONGER. AFTER A ADVANCETRAC STEERING SERVICE WARNING, THE POWER STEERING FAILED COUPLED WITH A WARNING TO SERVICE POWER STEERING. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS ON OR ABOUT JUNE 30TH. THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM. SUBSEQUENTLY ON OCTOBER 11, 2014 AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, THE ADVANCETRAC STEERING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND A SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING. THE DEALER IS NOW INDICATING THAT THE ADVANCETRAC AND/OR TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. THE CAR IS STILL IN THE REPAIR SHOP. *TR
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF MID-DRIVE. FOLLOWED BY THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A WRENCH LIGHT WOULD LIGHT UP. A WEEK AGO WE RECEIVED LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM FORD SAYING THAT OUR VEHICLE IS ELIGIBLE FOR NEW THROTTLE BODY SINCE THERE HAS BEEN ISSUES SINCE MANUFACTURED, WHICH PERFECTLY EXPLAINED OUR PROBLEM. WE TOOK IT TO FORD, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. HOWEVER, ONLY A WEEK LATER THE CAR IS BACK TO THE SAME THROTTLE BODY PART PROBLEM. ON SATURDAY, 6/28/14 AT AROUND 11:40PM THE CAR TURNS OFF MID-DRIVE RIGHT BEFORE I CROSS OVER A MAJOR INTERSECTION, RT 130 AND RT 30 IN COLLINGSWOOD, NJ AREA. I QUICKLY BRAKED AND TURNED THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF BEFORE I PASSED THE WHITE LINE. I SAT THROUGH AN ENTIRE GREEN AND RED LIGHT. ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AGAIN, I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND PRESSED MY GAS PEDAL. THE CAR INSTANTLY TURNED OFF AGAIN, WHERE I WAS NOW CAUGHT IN THE INTERSECTION. ON JUNE 28, 2014 WHILE BACKING UP MY 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID IN A PARKING LOT I HAD COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. WARNING LIGHTS DID GO ON AS I WAS BACKING UP. AN "ORANGE WRENCH, REPAIR NEEDED" INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON AS I COASTED OFF ROAD AND TURNED OFF IGNITION. WAITED 10 MINUTES, RESTARTED CAR AND DROVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER INCIDENT THAT SEEMED INSIGNIFICANT AT THE TIME: ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, WHEN ACCELERATING TO GO UP A HILL, THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND AND CRAWLED EXTREMELY SLOW UPHILL, BUT WAS OK WHEN BACK ON FLAT GROUND. RECENTLY RECEIVED LETTER FROM FORD ABOUT A RECALL REPAIR FOR PROBLEM WITH THROTTLE BODY,CAUSING CAR TO LOSE POWER, AND TO BRING IT IN FOR A CALIBRATION UPGRADE. UPGRADE IS TO GIVE SLIGHTLY MORE POWER IF YOU SHOULD HAVE PROBLEM, BUT DOES NOT CORRECT PROBLEM SINCE NOT ALL CARS WILL EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER. WENT TO DEALER AFTER I HAD LOST POWER, ASKING FOR REPLACEMENT OF THROTTLE BODY SINCE I HAD AN "INCIDENT" AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL. THEY ONLY DID A CALIBRATION UPGRADE SINCE THEY COULD "NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" AT REPAIR SHOP.COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT RECORD A PROBLEM WITH THROTTLE BODY. SAID "NO CODES IN PCM. RE-FLASHED PCM, RETURN TO CUSTOMER". THE INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED TO ME WAS REAL, AND POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS. HAD I BEEN OUT ON THE BUSY HIGHWAY, IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I FEEL THAT IF FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO CORRECT IT WHEN A PROBLEM IS REPORTED, THEY ARE BEING NEGLIGENT. WE HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR 175 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET. THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER WITH NO WARNING AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS DID THE SYMBOL OF A WRENCH. I PULLED OFF TO SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY ROUGH. STEPPING ON THE GAS DID NOT RAISE THE ENGINE SPEED. ABOUT 16 MILES LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THERE WAS A SMALL FORD DEALER A FEW MILES AWAY SO I TOOK IT IN. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND INDICATED THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY DID NOT HAVE ONE AVAILABLE. HE SAID THE CAR SHOULD ALWAYS RESTART AND WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. WE DROVE THE NEXT 300 MILES WONDERING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. THE CAR WAS FINE FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. WHEN WE GOT HOME I LOOKED THIS UP ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND COUNTLESS POSTINGS OF THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS OBVIOUSLY WELL KNOWN. GIVEN THIS, I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT IT, PULLED SOME CODES BUT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
