CAR HAS HEAVY VIBRATION DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE TWICE IN THIRTY DAYS WITH A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND TIRES BEING REBALANCED, BRAKES HAVE ALSO BEEN CHECK. VIBRATION STILL THERE 1000 MILES LATER. LOOKING FOR SOME ANSWERS BEFORE CONCRETE WALL IS COMING AT ME AT 65 MPH! *TR
INTAKE FUEL OUTLET HAS A PROBLEM CAR JERKS TRANSMISSION IS HORRIBLE
I STARTED MY CAR THEN SUDDENLY THE LARAM APPEAR AS (SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC) HOWEVER I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY CHANGE IN MY CAR , I HAD MY STEERING WORKING AND MY BRAKES FINE , AFTER THAT I WENT FEW MILES THAN TURNED OFF THE CAR , AFTER THAT THE ALARM DISAPPEARED , AFTER A WHILE IT APPEARED AGAIN AND I CONTINUE MY TRIP THEN PARKED THE CAR AND AFTER 1:30 HOURS I TURNED ON AND THE ALARM DISAPPEARED AND NEVER APPEARED AGAIN TILL NOW WHICH MEANS AFTER A DAY. *TR
DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVE, ON MY WAY TO WORK. TURNED OFF THE CRUISE AND THE CAR "BUCKED." THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. IT WOULD LOSE RPM AND THEN GO BACK UP AGAIN. TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME. I DIDN'T WANT TO BE STRANDED AT 4:30 IN THE MORNING. GOT HOME, TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED, AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY. BUT...MY CAR FOR SOME REASON ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE A 6 SPEED MANUAL. IT USES THE SAME THROTTLE BODY AS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CARS. WHAT GIVES?? *TR
I RUN A LIVERY BUSINESS AND LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CLIENTS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO MY MECHANIC AND HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER, ALTHOUGH THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND POWER STEERING SERVICE NOW WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON, HIS COMPUTER IS NOT PULLING CODES OR FINDING ANY PROBLEMS? I THEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO THEM AND THEY ARE SAYING I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK ALTHOUGH I HAVE READ THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THIS WILL ACTUALLY RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. WHEN RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I AM AMAZED AT THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE FOUND. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS YET? LUCKILY THERE HAVE BEEN NO SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATHS DUE TO THIS EXISTING PROBLEM. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FORD TO RESOLVE THIS? DRIVING TO WORK CAR HAD A THUMP THEN LOSS OF POWER(COULDN'T ACCELERATE ) AND AMBER WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY AS QUICKLY AND SAFELY AS I COULD. ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGH. PUT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF CAR FOR 2 SECONDS, AND TURNED BACK ON. CAR RAN FINE, UNTIL 3 DAYS LATER WHEN EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. *TR
ONE DAY I FILL UP TANK AND "CHECK FUEL INLET" COMES ON SO I GET OUT TO CHECK IT AND ITS CAP LESS. WE CAN NOT CLOSE THE CAP LESS BECAUSE IT IS CAP LESS. I SUGGEST THEY LIFT THE GAS TANK OR ADD A CAP BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO KEEP HAVING TO GET A SMOKE TEST DONE. FOR IT TO ONLY TELL YOU TO CHANGE THE CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID. *TR
LETTER FROM CONGRESSWOMAN BONAMICI ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE CONCERNS FOR THE DRIVERS OF FORD VEHICLES WHO MAY EXPERIENCE A FAILURE IN THE THROTTLE BODY RESULTING IN DECREASED SPEED DOWN TO 5 MPH. (ATTN: JOYCE FLEMING). *SMD THE LETTER THE CONSUMER RECEIVED, STATED A MALFUNCTION MAY OCCUR, DUE TO POSSIBLE CONTAMINATION OF THE INTERNAL MOTOR CONTACTS IN THE THROTTLE BODY RESULTING IN REDUCED VEHICLE SPEED. *JB
ON STARTING THE CAR, THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT TURN. TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY ASSESSED THAT THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST ME $2000. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I AM SURPRISED THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. *TR
I OWN A 2010 FORD FUSION SE, I PURCHASED IT WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DEPLOYED IN 2010. IT HAD 17 MILES, WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I AM THE FIRST OWNER. IT SEEMED LIKE A GREAT CAR. IN OWNING THE CAR I HAVE HAD TO GET THE ALTERNATOR CHANGED- 2 YEARS INTO OWNING THE CAR. AND RECENTLY THE CAR HAS BEEN RIDING "ROUGHER" THAN USUAL. ALSO THE RPM'S WILL RANDOMLY GO UP AND DOWN. AND WHEN I AM AT A RED NIGHT AND MY FOOT IS ON THE PEDAL, THE CAR KIND OF "JUMPS" A LITTLE BIT... THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING SINCE MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS TRANSMISSION RELATED OR WHAT- BUT FORD REALLY NEEDS TO GET THIS RECALLED IT IS QUITE DANGEROUS. THIS MORNING THE CAR WAS REALLY ACTING ODD. I WILL BE CALLING A MECHANIC TODAY AND SEE WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS WITH THIS CAR. WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE JUST CUT OUT. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL AT ALL. THE ENGINE WAS SURGING AROUND 10000 RPM, AND RUNNING VERY ROUGH. THEN THE VEHICLE WENT IN TO LIMP HOME MODE. I WAS ABLE TO SHUT IT DOWN PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART, BUT AFTER A WHILE IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN UNKNOWN REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,382. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE CAR WENT INTO 'LIMP' MODE, AND LOST ALMOST ALL POWER. THE 'CHECK ENGINE' INDICATOR LIT UP. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART IT W/O INCIDENT, AFTER WHICH IT RAN NORMALLY. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, BUT AN ONLINE SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNKNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS. I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND FORTUNATE THAT NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD AT 50 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY ALARMED "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW." MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME. THANK GOD IT DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I SEE ON THIS WEBSITE AND THE INTERNET THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT NO RECALLS. THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX!!!!I WHY NO RECALLS YET? *TR
SMELLED GAS AND SAW LEAK FROM TOP OF TANK DOWN SIDE OF TANK BY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL. MECHANIC DROPPED THE TANK AND SAID A SPLIT OCCURRED ON A SEAM THROUGH NO FAULT OF CORROSION. HE BELIEVES IT TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. ALL THE VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED NEVER HAD A LEAKING GAS TANK FROM CORROSION OR OTHERWISE. *TR

WELL I PREVIOUSLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING GEARS AND JERKING. WELL COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS FROM A LOW FLUID LEVEL CAUSED BY A LEAKING DRIVE SHAFT. ONE OF MORE THAN 2000 KNOWN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS OR I AM GOING BACK TO IMPORTS AGAIN. *TR
STARTED MY CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE, WITHIN 45 SECONDS OF DRIVING MY DASH SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW AND THEN SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, WITH THE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT COMING ON. AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENED MY POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE AND I COULD HARDLY TURN. IT HAS NEVER WORKED SINCE AND WHENEVER I START THE CAR IT SAYS SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DETERMINE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A FIFTH TIME AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE EPAS RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,590. UPDATED 07/12/16*LJ UPDATED 08/02/16.*JB
TWICE IN PARKING LOT MESSAGE APPEARED -POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. AT FIRST APPEARED TO BE POWER (BATTERY) RELATED, BECAUSE THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND WHEN I TURNED CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN MESSAGE IS GONE, CAR WAS DRIVING FINE. - ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, SAME MESSAGE APPEARED AND POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKS. TURNING ON AND OFF NO LONGER CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. THIS IS THE SECOND POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR BECAME HARD TO STEER. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON IT WAS FINE AND I WENT ON HOME. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THERE WAS A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER. THEY SAID THE STEERING GEAR WAS GOING OUT AND WOULD COST $1600 TO REPAIR. SINCE MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAD ONLY 43000 MILES ON IT, I CALLED FORD. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION ON A DRY LEVEL STREET AND SUDDENLY THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW AND ADVANCE TRAC FAILURE DISPLAYED ON MY RADIO. IT IS ESTIMATED TO COST $1200 TO FIX THIS AND I HAVE SEEN APPROXIMATELY 25% OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORD FUSIONS INVOLVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP US THERE IS AN OBVIOUS FAULT FROM FORD. *TR

WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING FASTER AND FASTER. HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF TO GET IT TO STOP. NEXT LIGHT, THE SAME THING. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, AND THEY REPLACED IT. (RECALL?) WORKED OK UNTIL 3/27/2014 AND PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN, THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING AGAIN. I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO GET IT TO STOP. GLAD I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. GOING BACK TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, AS I CONSIDER THIS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT OF GEAR, COASTED TO EDGE OF HIGHWAY, HAD POWER TO ENGINE/CAR THOUGH . SECOND TIME HAPPEN I WAS STOPPED DROPPING OFF WIFE AND WHEN I STARTED TO GO, THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND SPUTTER AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT OF GEAR AGAIN. HAD TO COAST TO EMPTY AREA. SO I DROVE MY CAR AGAIN, MY BOYFRIEND SEARCH THE PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY IS NOT WORKING RIGHT ,BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T SEE THE PROBLEM. MY BOYFRIEND ORDER THE PARTS ANYWAY BECAUSE I CAN FEEL THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO BREAK DOWN AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING THIS MORNING WITH MY TWO KIDS WHEN MY CAR LOSE POWER AGAIN. I TURNED IT OFF AND START AGAIN AND AFTER 100 METERS IT DID THE SAME AGAIN. I WAS TERRIFIED AND PRAY HARD THAT THE OTHER CAR WILL NOT HIT US. I TOOK MY CAR TO AAFES / MILITARY INSTALLATION CAR CARE WITH THE PARTS WE PURCHASED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I DROVE MY CAR HOME TODAY AND GOT HOME SAFELY. I FOUND OUT THAT FORD FUSION HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE CHROME ON THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES OF THIS 2010 FORD FUSION IS PEELING. THERE IS A FORD TSB ON THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10039156 WHICH I HAVE FOUND ONLINE. AS A RESULT OF THIS CHROME PEELING MY SON SUSTAINED A CUT ON HIS FINGER. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR EITHER THE PARTS OR THE LABOR TO ADDRESS THIS KNOWN DEFECT. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH THE HOPE THAT THEY WILL ADDRESS THIS. *TR
SIMILAR STORY TO OTHER POSTINGS REGARDING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: INCREASINGLY PROLONGED SHIFTING BETWEEN LOW GEARS (RUNNING AT INCREASINGLY HIGHER RPMS BEFORE SHIFTING), CAR PERIODICALLY JERKS FORWARD WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 0, AND NOW TRANSMISSION FLUID IS LEAKING FROM LEFT HALF SHAFT SEAL. WILL COST OVER $500 TO REPLACE SEAL, BUT WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS FOR THE DEALER TO GET THE "KIT," BECAUSE THERE ARE 2000 BACK-ORDERS!!!! ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE CAR BECAUSE OF HIGH RATINGS, AND MY DISAPPOINTMENTS WITH HONDA AND TOYOTA, AND THE RUMOR THAT FORD STOPPED BUILDING CRAPPY CARS - GUESS SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE (EXCEPT, OF COURSE, HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE FOR CRAP). WOULD LOVE TO FIND A DECENT, REASONABLY PRICED CAR, BUT SUSPECT THEY NO LONGER EXIST. *TR

CONSUMER STATES THAT FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. ON EACH OCCASSION THE ABS WARNING LIGHT AND BRAKE FAILURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I TURNED RIGHT OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 35 MPH WHEN THE "POWER STEERING FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON THE STEERING FELT HEAVER THAN USUAL I DROVE ABOUT 7 MILES THAN PARKED CAR. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER 2 HOURS THE INFORMATION PANEL SAID "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND THE POWER ASSIST WAS OFF EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. UPON, LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO OWN THOSE 2 VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS COSTS ABOUT $500 TO FIX (AND FROM REPORTS ONLINE, MANY TIMES IT'S NEEDED TO BE FIXED AGAIN). THERE WAS A FLAT TIRE ON THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE EPS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) TO HAVE A PROBLEM. WHEN THE TIRE WAS AIRED UP, THE ERROR ON THE POWER STEERING DID NOT GO AWAY. I HAVE READ FROM MANY ONLINE WEBSITES AND RESOURCES THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. DEALERSHIPS ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD ABOUT IT, BUT IF YOU TYPE IN THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL AND STEERING, IT PULLS MANY PAGES OF THE EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN READING REPORTS FROM THESE SITES AND THEY ALL SAY IT IS SOMETHING ELSE WRONG WITH IT AND ALL THE DEALERSHIPS REPLACE SOMETHING DIFFERENT JUST TO MAKE MONEY. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY MECHANICS THAT ARE NOT ASSOCIATED WITH FORD AND IF THE CODE IS CLEARED FROM THE COMPUTER, OR RESET SO TO SPEAK, THE PROBLEM IS ERASED BUT THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T WANT TO DO THAT BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THEY MAKE MONEY. *TR
POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW CAME ON THE DASH WARNING. LATER SERVICE ADVANCETRAC ALSO CAME ON DASH WARNING. STEERING VERY DIFFICULT AT SLOW SPEEDS. LIKELY TOO DIFFICULT FOR SMALL PERSON TO NEGOTIATE A PARKING LOT. CAR HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND ENTIRE STEERING RACK MUST BE REPLACED AS THE FAILED SENSOR IS NOT SERVICEABLE FROM ACTUAL RACK AND PINION. COST OF PART FORD PART STE27 IS $1186.74 PLUS LABOR. I HAVE JUST HAD THIS FIXED 2 WEEKS AGO FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. JANUARY 24, 2013 MY POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANICS TODAY AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE TIRES MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AND I HAVE EVEN DONE 60,000 MILES ON THE TIRES-YET THEY ARE WORN OUT ALREADY. IN A NUT SHELL THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY IT KEPT DYING OUT EVERY TIME I WOULD MASH ON THE ACCELERATOR.WENT TO AUTOZONE AND HAD A SCANNER PUT ON THE VEHICLE AND A NUMBER OF CODES CAME BACK POINTING TO THE THROTTLE ACCELERATOR CONTROL WHEN LOOKING FOR THE PART IT CAME BACK AS THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY. THEN COME TO FIND OUT THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED, THEN IT COULD NTO BE ORDERED FROM ANY RETAILER, WENT TO THE DEALER ONE DAY TO GET THE PART AND IT WAS PURCHASEABLE, WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY TO FIND IT WAS A RECALL ON THAT PART WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL HONORED AND THEY GAVE ME THIS SPILL ABOUT THE COST OF A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, SAYING IT HAD TO BE DONE BEFORE THEY COULD KNOW FOR SURE IF IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE EVAP CANISTER AND THE PURGE VALVE FOR 800.00 AS I HAD P0456 CODE, AND A P2169 CODE AND HAS RAW FUEL LEAKAGE. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND CAME ACROSS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AS WELL AS A TSB BULLETIN, THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE IN THIS YEAR MAKE/MODEL OF THE CAR. I THINK FORD IS AWARE THAT THESE COMPONENTS ARE FAULTY/DEFECTIVE AND DO FAIL AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND MADE TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT(S).
