BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR, USED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO AVOID REAR END ACCIDENT, DEALER CLAIMS METAL BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO CRIMP FROM FACTORY INSTALL. LOCATION OF FAULT WAS UNDER AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. DEALER ORDERED NEW LINE FROM TENNESSEE, TOOK A WEEK, RENTAL CAR $200 AND LINE REPLACEMENT $488. I SUSPECT EARLIER REAR BRAKE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THIS FACTORY INSTALLED CRIMP. *TR
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT. THE PART HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. I PAID 1600+ DOLLARS AND STILL IT MALFUNCTIONS. *TR
CAR HAS STALLED OUT BEFORE A FEW TIMES. THIS TIME, IT CHUGGED WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT ON, BROWN/GREY EXHAUST. SHUT IT OFF, TRIED AGAIN. THE SAME. I INCHED MY WAY OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET. SO GLAD I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY GOING TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RECALL THIS CAR SO WE CAN GET OUR MONEY BACK, OR GIVE ME BIG DISCOUNT ON NEW DIFFERENT CAR/TRUCK. POOR WORKMANSHIP ON THIS YEAR OF VEHICLE. CAR OF THE YEAR? WHAT A JOKE. *TR
I WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND ENCOUNTERED A HARD BRAKING SITUATION. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND MET NO RESISTANCE FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO ABS ENGAGING. I NEVER EVEN GOT A SQUEAL OF THE BRAKES WORKING. I WAS AT LEAST A CAR LENGTH BACK WHEN I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. I ENDED UP HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT, THEY IN TURN HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM. IRONICALLY I WAS THE ONLY ONE HURT FROM THIS CRASH. I FRACTURED MY FOOT FROM HITTING THE BRAKE SO HARD. I CAN'T IMAGINE THIS IS A NORMAL BRAKE FUNCTION. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR WITH 4000 MILES IN NOVEMBER 2013. I HAVEN'T HAD MY FIRST SERVICE SINCE THE PURCHASE. ROAD CONDITIONS BARE,FLAT SURFACE AND DOWNHILL. WEATHER AROUND 30 DEGREES AND SOME LIGHT FOG. I WILL RETURN TO DEALER TO INSPECT BRAKES. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON A SIDE ROAD, THE DIC STATED 'SERVICE POWER STEERING' THEN ' SERVICE ADVANCED TRAC', SHORTLY AFTER THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND IT DISPLAYED 'SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW'. LUCKILY I WASN'T MID TURN OR MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE GONE OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN THE CONDITION. MY OBD READER DISPLAYED CODES C1277 AND C1963. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS HOME FROM SCHOOL AND AS WE WERE TURNING I PRESSED ON THE GAS AND IT STALLED, I PRESSED IT AGAIN AND NOTHING. THEN TODAY SAME THING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION THANK GOD THERE WASN'T A LOT OF TRAFFIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,300. *TR
WE WERE STOPPED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN ORLANDO 800 MILES FROM HOME. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE SO WE LIMPED INTO A GAS STATION. A TOW TRUCK OPERATOR WAS AT THE GAS STATION AS WELL AS A MECHANIC. THEY BOTH SAID IT IS A VERY COMMON FORD THROTTLE CONTROL FAILURE. FORD QUOTED US $1000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT A MECHANIC FIXED IT FOR $450. INITIALLY, HE CLEANED THE THROTTLE CONTROL AND CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS. IT DROVE FINE IN TEST DRIVE BUT FAILED AGAIN ON OUR WAY TO HOTEL. WE PURCHASED THE PART FROM GREENWAY FORD IN WINTER PARK FL. THEY HAD 24 IN STOCK BECAUSE IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO SELL 12 A DAY SINCE THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON. THE PROBLEM IS NOW SOLVED BECAUSE WE DROVE THE CAR TO TOYOTA AND TRADED IT IN. *TR
WENT TO PULL ONTO INTERSTATE AND WHEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T SPEED UP. ALSO THE ENGINE RPM'S WOULD ACCELERATE AND CAUSE HARD SHIFTS WHICH HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE, THE VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO START WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL GETS LOW ENOUGH TO TURN THE LOW FUEL LIGHT ON EITHER. 2010 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH. SHE HEARD WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS A LIGHT POP, AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STARTED LOOSING POWER, AND NO MATTER HOW HARD SHE APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR, IF HAD NO EFFECT ON THE VEHICLE. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED SHE EXPERIENCED ANOTHER FAILURE ON MARCH 15, 2014. CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND SPEED WHILE DRIVING. PRESSING THE GAS BARELY MADE IT GO FOR A FEW HUNDRED FEET, THEN IT DIED. ON BUSY HIGHWAY, BUT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO SIDE STREET AND PUSH PAST A DRIVE WAY. RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ANOTHER COUPLE OF MILES. AFTER ABOUT 1.5 HOURS OF WAITING, IT DIED 2X WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 2 MILES HOME. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE (A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO) TO THIS SAME VEHICLE (TAKEN TO DEALER AT LEAST 2X FOR THE PROBLEM). BASED ON WHAT I READ TODAY ONLINE, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE "THROTTLE BODY". TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. *TR
THE PARKING BRAKE ON MY MANUAL 2010 FORD FUSION WILL FREEZE IN PLACE IN TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING. WHILE THE PARKING BRAKE IS DISENGAGED AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT GOES OFF, THE PADS REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH THE REAR TIRE, CAUSING EXCESSIVE HEAT, THREAT OF FIRE, LOSS OF EMERGENCY BRAKING, OR LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS ALSO CAUSES EXCESSIVE AND PREMATURE WEAR / DAMAGE TO THE AFFECTED BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED ONLINE BY FORD OWNERS IN NORTHERN CLIMATES. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASH AND IMMEDIATELY I LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AND THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF A LEAK NOR IS THERE ANY INDICATION THAT THE PULLEY IS FROZEN. MY FAMILY WAS WITH ME AND IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A TURN WHEN I WASN'T ABLE TO ANTICIPATE NEEDING TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LACK OF POWER STEERING, OR IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I BELIEVE THAT AFTER LOOKING AT MULTIPLE FORUMS AND DISCOVERING HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR SCENARIOS THAT THIS MODEL VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM. *TR
WAS DRIVING 70 MILES AN HOUR ON INTERSTATE 64 E AND THOUGHT CAR DIED SO I PULLED OVER AS FAST AS I COULD TO GET OUT OF HARMS WAY, DOZENS OF CARS FLYING BY AND HONKING, HAD A HARD TIME GETTING TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER AND FIGURED OUT MY CAR DIDN'T DID DIE AFTER ALL, IT WAS RUNNING. AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND A WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IDLED ROUGH FOR A MINUTE AND WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT SO I PROCEEDED ON AND IT DID IT AGAIN ABOUT 60 MILES FURTHER UP THE ROAD SO I TURNED AROUND AND HEADED HOME. NOT A GOOD SITUATION TO BE IN, VERY UNSAFE. READ REVIEWS ON THIS CAR AND LOOKS LIKE I M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND FORD SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM . VERY WELL COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT AND THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND DECELERATED TO 10 MPH. THE "CHECK ENGINE" AND WRENCH ICON LIGHTS CAME ON. I REFERRED TO MY OWNER'S MANUAL, WHICH DIRECTED ME TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. I DROVE SLOWLY FOR 4 MILES TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS WITH THE "THROTTLE BODY" AND SAID THAT IS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $550 (INCL. PARTS AND LABOR). I HAD THE PART REPLACED AT THAT TIME AND THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE RESOLVED. *TR
HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM PROJECTOR BEAMS HAVE BECOME HAZY AND CLOUDY. HEADLAMPS HAVE REDUCED BRIGHTNESS AND DECREASED VISIBILITY. MANY TIMES I CAN'T EVEN TELL THEY ARE ON IN THE EVENING AND THEY APPEAR DIM ON THE ROAD.
FROM THE TIME OF STARTING THE VEHICLE UP TO APPROX 5 - 10 MINUTES THERE IS NO POWER STEERING IN MY CAR. I CAN BE GOING ANY SPEED AND IT DOESN'T WORK. *TR
HARD SHIFTING AND GEAR SLIPPING DUE TO FLUID LEAK. *TR
AXLE SEAL ON DRIVERS SIDE HAD FAILED. I HAD TO HAVE SEAL AND AXLE REPLACED, LEAKING LARGE AMOUNTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID NEXT TO TIRE. AXLE WAS REPLACED WITH REDESIGNED PART AT MY COST. *JS
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION SEL ON A BACK WRONG I LOST PRESSURE TO THE THROTTLE. MY CAR HAD LOST ALL OF ITS SPEED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BEFORE A CAR COULD HIT ME. EVEN IF I PUSHED THE GAS IT WOULD NOT BUDGE. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. THIS THE 4 TIME. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT TRAVELING EVERY DAY TO SCHOOL AND BACK. NOT ONLY ON BACK ROADS BUT ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IF I LOSE MY ACCELERATION I COULD BE SERIOUS HURT. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. MY OWN LIFE IS AT RISK DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER DROPPING IT OFF, AGAIN, ON FRIDAY, 12/27 TO FIX THE SAME EXACT ISSUE I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE DAY BEFORE. THE STEERING GOT INCREDIBLY STIFF AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" LIGHT. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK. SECOND TIME THEY BLAMED THE WIRING. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TODAY 12/31 BUT THEY WERE CLOSED SO I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO FIX WHEN THEY OPEN BACK UP ON JAN 2ND. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR ALMOST A WEEK NOW AND I WONT BE ABLE TO ANY TIME SOON I FEEL. *TR
WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MPH I FELT A LOSS OF POWER IN MY FUSION FOLLOWED BY A WRENCH LIGHT COMING ON. I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND FORTUNATELY WAS ON A STRETCH OF THE HIGHWAY WITH A SHOULDER. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND TOOK IT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT SINCE NO LIGHTS WERE ON NO CODES REGISTERED AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. THE NEXT DAY MY CAR ONCE AGAIN STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE FAST LANE. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. UPON MY SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPLACED. IT APPEARS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW ABOUT. *TR
CAR HAD A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY THAT CAUSED THE CAR TO LOSE POWER AND SHAKE. WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON. *TR
ON MONDAY 12/23/13 THE FUSION SHOWED A LOW TIRE PRESSURE MESSAGE AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE SLIGHTLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE LOWER SPEEDS. WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR UP ON 12/26/13 AND PROCEEDED TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE POWER STEERING WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I'VE READ THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE FORD FUSION OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE LINE FAILED WHEN SHE PUT HER VEHICLE IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
I NOTICED SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE CAR TENDS TO SHIFT HARD (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). NOW I'VE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMING ON, THE CAR STALLING, AND STARTS SHIMMYING AND SHAKING. HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. HOWEVER, THIS MORNING, I HAD THE SAME INCIDENT OCCUR. IT IS NOW BACK AT THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND HOPEFULLY FIXED WITHOUT ANY COST TO ME. I WILL BE TRADING THIS FORD FOR ANOTHER MAKE OF CAR. I HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WHEN I OWNED A FORD EDGE AND TRADED IT IN. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD EDGE MYTOUCH SCREEN GOING OUT ON ME AS WELL. *TR
MERGED ON THE HIGHWAY HEADING TO WORK. AT APPROX 60 MPH, OR HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR DECELERATED QUICKLY AND RPMS DROPPED BELOW 1,000. AFTER A MORE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR JERKED THEN ACCELERATED BACK TO NORMAL SPEED. ONCE PRESSURE WAS RELEASED THE CAR'S RPM DROPPED BELOW 1,000 AND STARTED TO DECELERATE QUICKLY. ALL OF THIS OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. A FRIEND OF MINE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE MANY ONLINE FORMS THAT EXPLAIN THE SAME SCENARIO I EXPERIENCED WITH THE SAME PART MALFUNCTION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR 45 MPH, I GOT AN ERROR ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING, "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "ADVANCE TRACK SYSTEM MALFUNCTION". AT THAT MOMENT, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I COULD HARDLY STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND AS OF THIS DATE, THERE IS NO RECALL OR "BULLETIN" ON FILE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE CAR IF THIS HAPPENS. I'VE READ MANY POSTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND A FEW HAVE CAUSED ACCIDENTS. I FOUND A MECHANIC TO RESET THE POWER STEERING, BUT HE COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND ONLY A DEALER CAN DO THIS BECAUSE THE CODES NEEDED ARE PROPRIETARY AND FORD WON'T GIVE THEM OUT. I'M ALSO FILING A COMPLAINT WITH FORD ON THIS ISSUE, BUT DON'T EXPECT TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. *TR
WHILE WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WITHOUT ANY WARNING A TRUCK HIT ME IN THE REAR AND PUSHED ME IN FRONT OF THE VAN ALSO WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. AS A RESULT MY CAR SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE REAR AND FRONT AND ALSO MY REAR WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY BUSTED OUT. MY AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I WAS TRANSPORT TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. I SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND INJURIES TO MY NECK, BACK, WRIST, KNEES, ANKLES, FEET AND ARMS ETC. I HAVE NUMBNESS IN MY TOES AND RADIATES DOWN MY ARMS AND LEGS. MY FACE WAS SWOLLEN AND HAVE PAINFUL PRESSURE AND NUMBNESS IN MY FACE. I ALSO SUFFER FROM SLEEPLESS NIGHTS FROM THE PAIN AND HEADACHE DAILY. AND A HOST OF OTHER SYMPTOMS. I AM HAUNTED BY THIS DAY AND CAN STILL HEAR THE INITIAL BANG AND THE FEELING LIKE I WAS GOING TO BE CRUSHED. *TR
BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND PROCEEDED FORWARD. SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND IDLE REALLY BADLY. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND SO DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED A FEW MOMENT. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO, I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT WAS WORKING FINE FOR ABOUT 2 MILES. THEN STARTED TO SPUTTER AGAIN. WASH, RINSE, REPEAT THE SAME ABOVE UNTIL I GOT HOME. AFTER RESEARCHING, FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ON THESE VEHICLES IS A COMMON MALFUNCTIONING PART. *TR
UPON DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD, OUT OF NO WHERE I LOST MY POWER STEERING, ALMOST COLLIDING INTO A POST, AND GOT A NOTIFICATION THAT MY ESC FAILED RIGHT AFTERWARDS. THE STEERING IS NOW REALLY STIFF AND REQUIRES A LOT OF FORCE TO TURN. I TRIED SEARCHING THE REASON WHY THIS HAPPENS ONLINE AND FOUND A TON OF SIMILAR IF NOT THE EXACT SAME SITUATION AS MINE. THIS IS UNSAFE!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 65 MILES MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT AND I LOST ALL POWER STEERING FUNCTION. THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" WARNINGS APPEARED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND INSTALLED THE SPARE. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR THE WARNINGS REMAINED AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING ASSIST AT ALL. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN A CORNER OR PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. THE FORCE NEEDED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IS UNBELIEVABLE. JUDGING BY THE COMPLAINTS FILED, AND THE VOLUME OF POSTS ON THE INTERNET, DATING BACK TO 2006, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN ADDRESSED. I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT BECAME GREEN I PROCEEDED TO TURN RIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 25 YARDS THE CAR LOST ALMOST ALL POWER AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE CAR MOVED FORWARD IN A JERKING MANNER WITH LITTLE POWER (10%). ALL THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN WENT OFF EXCEPT FOR THE WRENCH LIGHT WHICH STAYED ON. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE BEFORE RESTARTING. ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE OFF AND THE ENGINE WAS VIBRATING AND JERKY WHILE DRIVING THE FIRST FEW FEET AND THEN ALL WENT BACK TO NORMAL. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT I WOULD BE IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGH SPEED. *TR
TRAVELING AT SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE CAR SHOOK AND I LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ALTHOUGH SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD TO SWERVE AROUND ME AS I WAS GOING UPHILL AND LOST SPEED QUICKLY. THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. WHILE THE CAR WOULD IDLE, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE AND NO WARNING LIGHT. I MADE IT HOME SAFELY WITH NO MORE INCIDENTS AND DISCOVERED MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I WILL BE CALLING THE DEALER TOMORROW TO DETERMINE OPTIONS FOR PART REPLACEMENT. YESTERDAY, 12-18-13 WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY CAR THROTTLE STOPPED RESPONDING AND WENT INTO ROUGH IDLE. DID SAME THING 4 TIMES AND I NARROWLY ESCAPED BEING REAR ENDED. HAD TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURN OFF ENGINE. AFTER LETTING CAR SET FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES CAR RESTARTED AND SEEMED TO RUN FINE UNTIL THE NEXT UNPREDICTABLE INCIDENT. TODAY 12-19-13 ON WAY TO DEALERSHIP PULLED INTO TRAFFIC AND WAS ALMOST BROADSIDED. ALMOST BEING KILLED 4 TIMES IN 24 HRS. SUGGESTS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM AS SOON AS I MENTIONED IT INDICATING THIS WAS NOT FIRST TIME. DEALERSHIP FIXED ISSUE EVEN BEFORE DISCUSSING PRICE AS THEY SAID I COULD NOT DRIVE CAR IF THIS PART WAS NOT REPLACED (AGAIN INDICATING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT THEY WERE ALREADY AWARE OF). ACCORDING TO NHTSA ACTION # PE13003 THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN UNDER INVESTIGATION SINCE FEB. 21, 2013. I FEEL THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE IT LEADS TO FATALITIES. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THIS DATE AND WAS GIVEN VERY LITTLE ASSISTANCE ON THE ISSUE OTHER THAN THEY WOULD REPORT IT FOR INTERNAL INVESTIGATION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A CONSISTENT AND VIOLENT VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,520.
MY DRIVERS SIDE HEATED SEAT BEGAN TO GET WARMER THAN USUAL WHEN I WOULD USE IT. IT WOULD BECOME SO WARM THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TURN IT OFF BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING TOO HOT AND I WAS AFRAID THAT IT WOULD BURN ME. AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF THIS HAPPENING THE SEAT HEATER STOPPED FUNCTIONING PROPERLY ALL TOGETHER. I WOULD PRESS THE HEATED SEAT BUTTON AND IT WOULD ILLUMINATE FOR A FEW SECONDS (MAYBE 2-3) AND THEN SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN, AS IF SOMETHING WERE TRIPPING A FAULT. THE SEAT DOES NOT GET WARM AT ALL BEFORE THE SWITCH TURNS OFF AUTOMATICALLY. IT IS APPARENT BASED ON RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE FORD FUSION IN ALMOST ALL YEARS. *TR
WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION A PASSENGER WILL BE SITTING IN THE CAR AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL GO ON, SAYING THE AIR BAG IS OFF. THEREFORE IT IS NOT PROTECTING MY PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A CONTINUAL BASIS SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE 2013
MY 2010 FORD FUSION STALLED MANY TIMES LAST WEEKEND. I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK, AND TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON, AND IT RAN FINE TO GET ME HOME. I HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTIL TODAY, ROUGHLY A WEEK LATER. IT STALLED ON ME TWICE AT SPEED, AND I HAD TO PULL OVER, TURN IT OFF, AND RESTART THE ENGINE, UPON WHICH IT RAN FINE. EACH TIME IT STALLED, THE WRENCH ICON LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AFTER IT STALLED, BUT DID NOT STAY ON ONCE THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. TODAY AFTER THE THIRD STALL, I NOTICED THE CAR WAS KIND OF JERKING AS I PULLED IT TO A STOP, BUT AS I PRESSED THE GAS NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT THIS IS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS). THIS SWITCH ALMOST GOT ME KILLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MORE THAN ONCE AND IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GET KILLED BECAUSE FORD HAS YET TO RECALL THIS PART!!! *TR
EVERY TIME ENGINE STARTS, FORD FUSION DASH DISPLAYS TWO (2) FAULT CODES: CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM FAULT, AND CHECK REAR PARK AID. BOTH FAULT ALERTS CLEAR AFTER PRESSING CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. HOWEVER, BOTH, THE REAR PARK AID, AND THE CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. EACH PROVIDES UNIQUE AUDIBLE BUZZING' ALERTS WHEN AUTO IS IN REVERSE TO WARN OF AN IMPENDING CRASH/CONTACT WITH A PERSON OR OBJECT. TWO SAFETY SYSTEM FEATURES THAT NO LONGER WORKED. THE 2010 FORD FUSION WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, (4 YEARS OLD, LESS THAN 8,500 MILES ON ODOMETER) SO I HAD TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT $150.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BROKEN, AND NON-WORKING SPEAKER IN THE TOP OF THE REAR SEAT. THE COST TO REPLACE THIS SPEAKER WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY, $350.00, AND THERE WOULD BE NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL FIX THE 2 PROBLEMS, ALTHOUGH THE MECHANIC SAID HE WAS 98% SURE THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS CORRECT. FORD MOTOR COMPANY OFFERED TO PAY $200 TOWARD THE REPAIR. RESULT: TWO SAFETY SYSTEMS ARE NOW WORKING, BUT I HAD TO PAY $300.00 OF THE $500.00 COST TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THESE SAFETY SYSTEM FEATURES. A SPEAKER IN THE TOP OF THE REAR SEAT' IS A PART OF AN AUTO THAT AN OWNER EXPECTS WOULD LAST FOR THE LIFE OF THE AUTO, AND CERTAINLY MORE THAN 8,500 MILES ON AN ODOMETER. SINCE THIS SPEAKER IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF BOTH SAFETY SYSTEMS, NOT SUBJECT TO ANY WEAR AND TEAR, ITS FAILURE TO WORK/OPERATE AS DESIGNED IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN OR PRODUCT FAULT, AND SOMETHING THAT FORD MOTOR SHOULD REPAIR AT ITS EXPENSE. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION ON AUGUST 1, 2013. I BELIEVED THAT I WAS PURCHASING A GREAT CAR, HOWEVER, SLOWLY BUT SURELY I AM LEARNING THAT MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAS ISSUES ALONG WITH A NUMBER OF OTHER FORD FUSIONS SOLD IN THE STATES. ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2013, I EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE. LUCKILY, A GAS STATION WAS LITERALLY ON THE CORNER, I PULLED INTO THE STATION AND FILLED THE FLAT TIRE WITH THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF AIR. I GOT BACK IN MY CAR, STARTED IT AND PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT, MY MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAY BEGIN TO FLASH "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW", "ADVANCE TRAC", I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THIS MEANT UNTIL I BEGAN TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL.... IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DO SO. HOWEVER, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TRY AND STEER IT. I MADE IT BACK HOME SAFELY AND ACCIDENT FREE RUNNING TO THE COMPUTER TO RESEARCH THIS SINCE THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED. I "GOOGLED" POWER STEERING FAILURE ON 2010 FORD FUSION AND THERE APPEARED A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM FUSION OWNERS. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS WAS A GOOD THING... PERHAPS THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND THIS WOULD BE A QUICK FIX OR REPAIR BY A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I CONTACTED THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND TO SEE IF THERE'S A RECALL AND A REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I GREW INCREASINGLY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS I COULDN'T FATHOM HOW NO ONE HAD RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND DEEMED IT A REPAIR/RECALL THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. I AM NOW SUBJECT TO A $116.00 DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE BY THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALTHOUGH THE CAR IS ALREADY STATING WHAT THE ISSUE IS, AND I WILL STILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR, GOD ONLY KNOWS HOW MUCH THAT'LL BE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
DRIVING AT 70 M.P.H VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN. ENGINE WAS AT IDLE AT 1000 RPM BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT PULL OFF THE ROADWAY. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. HAD TO STOP IN THE ROADWAY PUT VEHICLE IN PARK TURN VEHICLE OFF THEN RESTART VEHICLE. VEHICLE RAN LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. THEN IT STARTED DOING IT OVER AND OVER EVERY 4-5 MILES. N.C.C.C. HAS FILED COMPLAINT. FORD RESPONSE IN THE MOST SEVERE F.M.E.M. MODE FAILURE DRIVER HAD ENGINE POWER TO ALLOW VEHICLE MOBILITY TO MANEUVER TO A SAFE LOCATION. (THIS IS NOT TRUE ) VEHICLE WILL STOP IN THE ROADWAY IT DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER TO PULL THE VEHICLE IT IDLES @ 1000 R.P.M BUT IT WILL NOT MOVE.
