LOST POWER IN THE CENTER LANE OF I-75, ALMOST CAUSED A LARGE ACCIDENT. CAR WAS ROUGH IDLING IN MEDIAN. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP,REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. FIXED THE PROBLEM. NOW I SEE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE BOTH ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM THAT THE REPAIR WOULD RECTIFY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
NOTICED A NOISE IN THE REAR END OF OUR CAR IN DECEMBER. MADE APPOINTMENT ASAP WITH DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED CAR AT. NOISE WAS WORSE ON DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. INFORMED REAR BRAKES WERE METAL ON METAL. HAD BRAKE PADS AND REAR ROTORS REPLACED AND THEY GROUND DOWN AND FIXED REAR SLIDES. ON 03/18/2013 BRAKES WERE GOOD WITH 22,454 MILES. LUG NUTS WERE REPLACED ON 02/28/2012 BECAUSE OF 11S23 RECALL. FEEL BECAUSE CAR WAS BUILT IN MEXICO THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE REAR BRAKE DISC AND THEY WERE INCORRECTLY BUILT. WE APPROACHED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I TOLD THEM I WOULD COMPLAIN TO YOUR AGENCY. BRAKES SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER-VERY PREMATURE WEARING. *TR
TRAVELING ON N.J. PARKWAY...SUDDENLY, ENGINE JUST STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD NO CONTROL OF ACCELERATOR. HAD BEEN IN MIDDLE LANE AT THE TIME AND AS I TRIED TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD CARS HAD TO SWERVE INTO AROUND ME BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED. I REPORTED THIS TO DEALER, BUT SERVICE MANGER ACCREDITED THE PROBLEM TO WATER IN GAS LINE OR DIRT IN FILTER. AS OF THIS WRITING, A RECALL WAS ISSUED FROM THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS, HAD IT REPAIRED 2 WEEKS AGO, BUT TODAY, SAME PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. *TR
2010 FORD FUSION SEL V6 ENTERED VEHICLE FOR ERRAND. VEHICLE STARTED NORMALLY, HOWEVER AFTER SHORT DISTANCE POWER STEERING ALMOST LOCKED UP, INFO ON DASH STATED SERVICE POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAK SYSTEMS NOW. HAVE REPLACED POWER STEERING RACK WITH NEW FORD PARTS. FIRST ONE LASTED FOUR WEEKS THEN TROUBLE MESSAGE ON DASH ACTIVATED. VEHICLE STILL DROVE NORMALLY. UPON PARKING AND RESTARTING STEERING WAS ALMOST LOCKED UP AGAIN. REPLACED RACK SECOND TIME. VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY FOR TWO WEEKS THEN SYSTEM ACTED AS IT HAD BEFORE THE FIRST RACK WAS REPLACED. CURRENTLY VEHICLE IS STEERABLE FOR VERY STRONG PERSON BUT AVERAGE COULD NOT STEER VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE, WOULD WITHOUT DOUBT LEAD TO CRASH AND INJURY WERE IT TO OCCUR WHILE ON HIGHWAY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT 50MPH, SUDDENLY THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A PULL OFF SECTION ON SIDE OF ROAD. TOOL LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO KEEP GOING. THROTTLE BODY IS CAUSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,459. *TR
COUPLE MONTHS AGO THE CAR STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS SHIFTING FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER. THE MAIN PROBLEMS WAS FROM 1 TO 2. AT A TIME, ON A RED LIGHT, THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE FOR A FEW SECONDS EVEN THOUGH THE ACCELERATOR WAS BEING PRESSED. THEN THE CAR SUDDENLY JUMP AND STARTED GOING. THE CAR STARTED JUMP FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER. LATER THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK. AND THE CAR IS GETTING WORSE THERE IS NO SMOOTH TRANSITION BETWEEN THE VELOCITIES AND THE DEALER SAID WE HAD TO PAID FOR LABOR AND PARTS. IT SEEMS UNFAIR TO HAVE TO PAY FOR A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS MODEL IS DEFECTIVE AND THERE SHOULD BE A CHECK-OUT TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN THE PAST 3 DAYS. AT THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, WE WERE DRIVING RATHER SLOWLY, APPX. 35 MPH. THE CAR LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING, AND STARTED MISFIRING VIOLENTLY. DEPRESSING THE FUEL PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT. THE YELLOW WRENCH WARNING ICON ON THE DASH WAS LIT. WE WERE GOING DOWN A SLIGHT HILL ON SIDE STREET, SO IT WAS EASY TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ALLOWED IT TO RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES, BUT IT CONTINUED TO MISFIRE AND SEEMED STARVED FOR FUEL. IT DID KEEP RUNNING FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES MORE BEFORE WE SHUT IT OFF. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK, MY HUSBAND TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR. IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY AND RAN FINE WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE NEXT DAY THE MECHANIC CHECKED IT BUT COULD FIND NO ISSUE OR RECORD OF AN ERROR CODE. HE ADDED "DRY GAS" IN CASE THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO WATER FREEZING IN THE FUEL LINE. THE WEATHER IS QUITE COLD. THE THIRD DAY (TODAY) I FILLED THE FUEL TANK AND ADDED ANOTHER BOTTLE OF "DRY GAS". I DROVE APPX 35 MILES (IN SEVERAL SEGMENTS) THEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS IN TRAFFIC, GOING APPX 55 MILES PER HOUR. THE BEHAVIOR WAS IDENTICAL: PRONOUNCED MISFIRING, NO POWER, FUEL PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT, WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ON. I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE BARELY ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET MOST OF THE WAY OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS TIME I RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS. AGAIN, IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE FINAL 6 MILES OF MY COMMUTE. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, IT SEEMS THAT THE CAUSE MAY BE THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. WE WILL BE TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO REPORT BACK ON THE RESOLUTION. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. FORD ADVANCTRAK AWD FAILURE. TOTAL LOSS OF STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, AND STEERING. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY AT 3:30 PM DURING HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR QUICKLY STARTED JERKING AND SLOWED DOWN FROM 55 MPH TO LESS THAN 20 MPH. SHE TRIED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT. UNFORTUNATELY, MY WIFE WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AND SHE HAD TO QUICKLY MANEUVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WHERE SHE PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS INITIALLY PLACED IN PARK IT CONTINUED TO JERK UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS SHUT-OFF. SHE INDICATED THAT THE CAR RIDE FELT SIMILAR TO A MECHANICAL BULL WITH ALL THE JERKING MOTION. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY WIFE WAS PETRIFIED WITH DRIVING OUR CAR AND FEARED FOR HER LIFE WITH THE HEAVY TRAFFIC! AFTER A FEW MINUTES SHE STARTED THE CAR AND IT APPEARED FINE FOR HER TO DRIVE (10 MILES) HOME. WHEN SHE GOT HOME WE CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THEY DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND COST OVER $600 FOR THE REPAIR WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS SINCE WE HAVE LESS THAN 26,000 ACTUAL MILEAGE. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE SITUATION. WE ARE SO THANKFUL THAT MY WIFE DIDN'T HAVE A CAR ACCIDENT. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS SAFETY PROBLEM AND THEY ARE NOT BEING PROACTIVE TO CORRECT IT. WILL THIS BE ANOTHER TOYOTA CAMRY TRAGEDY WITH PEOPLE GETTING HURT AND / OR KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENTS BEFORE THIS PROBLEM GETS CORRECTED?????????? *TR
WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO STALL AS IF IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND WRENCH LIGHT (CHECK ENGINE) CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND CAR BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A MINUTE, TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT. TWO DAYS LATER, DRIVING ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR, EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. FOUR DAYS LATER, 55 MPH, SAME THING. IT IS NOW AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND CODE. CODE WAS PREVIOUSLY FOUND AS P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR STUCK OPEN. I EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON, THE PREVIOUS CODE, AND THAT I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME EXPERIENCE. APPARENTLY THEY CANNOT JUST REPLACE THE PART IF THEY DON'T EXPERIENCE IT THEMSELVES, AT LEAST NOT TO BE COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY. WOULD APPRECIATE A RECALL. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH MY 11 MONTH OLD IN IT. *TR
IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING APPROX 25MPH, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN OFF VERY QUICKLY, THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL GLITCH. ARRIVED AT DESTINATION 5 MINUTES LATER AND SHUT OFF CAR. A HALF AN HOUR LATER, WENT TO TURN ON CAR AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC/SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW LIGHTS WERE ON. WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION, THE CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE AT ALL LET ALONE TURN. HAD TO PUT HAZARDS ON AND CONTINUE DRIVING WHILE ALMOST HITTING ABOUT 5 CARS DUE TO NO POWER STEERING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND EXTREMELY COSTLY PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING THIS HAPPEN TO ME I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING AND VERY MANY CASES OF THIS OCCURRED, I AM VERY SHOCKED THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2010 FUSIONS. *TR
AFTER GETTING GAS MY WIFE AND I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND MID TURN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. NO WARNING STUCK RIGHT IN THE LANE OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. *TR
CAR GOING INTO "LIMP" MODE MANY TIMES. MY MOTHER DRIVES THIS CAR AND HAS ALMOST BEEN HIT BECAUSE OF IT GOING INTO "LIMP" MODE. THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACED AT DEALER TO FIX (HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIR). *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE LOCAL HIGHWAY, THE CAR LOST POWER AND STARTED TO SHAKE. THE SERVICE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT RUSH HOUR AND THE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. AFTER PULLING OFF OF THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND BACK ON. THE ENGINE APPEARED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW MILES LATER. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AFTER THE RESTART. I WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY DRIVE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT ONLY COST ME $100, UNLIKE SOME OF THE OTHER FOLKS WHO HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF THE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVIER OR IF I WAS UNABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD QUICKLY. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT - I PULLED OUT ONTO A MAIN STREET & THE MOTOR CUT OUT. ALSO WHEN I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE (GOING TO WORK) WAS GOING ABOUT 65 MPH...AND THE MOTOR CUT OUT. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE BERM OF THE ROAD- SHUT THE CAR OFF & RESTART IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I CANNOT TELL WHEN IT WILL SHUT DOWN & WHERE I AM AT ON THE HIGHWAY...& IF I CAN GET OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE HITS ME! THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES NOW & I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR! (A WRENCH SHOWS UP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS!) *TR
CAR DRIVING FINE WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOSES ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE. THE LITTLE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. PULLED CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, IT BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS A FEW WEEKS AGO. VERY DANGEROUS TO LOSE THROTTLE RESPONSE. UPON CHECKING INTERNET IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNCOMMON. YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS AND GET FORD ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
DRIVING ON STRAIGHT AWAY ABOUT 35 TO 40 MPH. LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO TIME TO PULL OVER ,PUSH ON GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENED MOTOR NEVER DIED COMPLETELY BUT HAD NO POWER TO MOVE.THEN PUT SHIFTER INTO PARK SHUT OFF VEHICLE WAITED A MINUTE THEN RESTARTED IT ,RAN FINE AFTER THIS FOR THIS 5 MILE TRIP,BUT THIS IS HAPPENING EVERY DIFFERENT TRIP MADE ,EVERY DAY,SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONCE A TRIP ,AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. *TR
FIRST TIME THE POWER STEERING QUIT WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN AT 25MPH. "SERVICE POWERSTEERING" MESSAGE CAME UP AND THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN UPON TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT. A FEW DAYS LATER THE POWER STEERING QUIT AND "SERVICE STEERING NOW" CAME UP ALONG WITH "ADVANCE TRAC DISABLED" AND NOW THE POWER STEERING QUIT COMPLETELY. STILL HAVE MANUAL STEERING WHICH WASN'T BAD ON CLASSIC CARS WITH HUGE STEERING WHEELS BUT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE WITH THE TINY WHEEL IN THE FUSION. QUICK SEARCH ON GOOGLE SHOWED ME THAT I WASN'T ALONE WITH THIS ISSUE AND THAN 100'S OF OTHERS HAVE/HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I'M LUCKY IT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN A PANIC SITUATION. *TR
I HAD JUST HA THE OIL CHANGED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MORROW, GA. WHO ALWAYS DO AND INSPECTION TO SEE IF THERE ARE OTHER SERVICES NEEDED, WHICH THEY FOUND NO ONE. TWO WEEKS LATER ON MY WAY HOME THE ENGINE RAN HOT. AS IT TURNS OUT THE WATER PUMP HAD FAILED BECAUSE OF PLASTIC IMPELLERS THAT ARE IN THE WORKMANSHIP. CALL FORD IN DETROIT TO INQUIRE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I'M NOT SURE IF OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME FAILURE WITH THIS CAR OR NOT, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. *TR
I OWN 2 2010 FORD FUSION, I SEE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING AND THE NHTSA INVESTIGATING A POSSIBLE RECALL. I HAD TO HAVE MINE REPLACED DUE TO THE POWER STEERING GIVING OUT WITH NO WARNING. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. IT COSTED ABOUT $1500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE. I HAD TO PURCHASE THE NEW RACK FROM FORD (FORD ONLY PART) AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THE POWER STEERING IS STARTING AGAIN. I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, THERE ARE TO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. I HAVE BEEN ON THE FORD FORUM AND THE POWER STEERING AND THE FUEL EVAPORATION LEAK ARE MAJOR COMPLAINTS WITH THE CAR. MY CAR WOULDN'T EVEN PASS STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE IT INDICATES EVAPORATION LEAK ON A CAP LESS SYSTEM. TO FIND THE FUEL LINE LEAK OR FUEL NECK LEAK WILL COST SO MUCH MONEY. BOTH OF MY VEHICLES HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS TOGETHER POWER STEERING AND CAN NOT PASS INSPECTION. THERE SHOULD BE A SERIOUS RECALL ON THESE ISSUES. IT REALLY ASHAME FORD WON'T ISSUE A RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS BECAUSE THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES , NO JUST TOTALED CARS!
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE WAS LOST. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED QUICKLY AS I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AN ORANGE "WRENCH" LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH, BUT NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY AND A LOUD MISFIRING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL, I COULD NOT GET ABOVE 3 MPH. I RE-STARTED THE CAR, AND THE ENGINE RAN NORMALLY. HOWEVER, THE MESSAGES "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" APPEARED ON THE SCREEN WHILE TWO YELLOW TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS AND THE RED BRAKE LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ONCE MORE, BOTH OF THESE INDICATORS WERE GONE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY TO THE DEALER WHO DIDN'T PERFORM ANY DIAGNOSTICS NOR DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS STILL "90% SURE" THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD DOES NOT COVER THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER THE 5 YR/60,000 MI POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, NOR WILL MY AFTERMARKET "EXCLUSIONARY COVERAGE" WARRANTY BY PORTFOLIO. THE ESTIMATED COST TO INSTALL A NEW THROTTLE BODY IS $321 WITHOUT DIAGNOSTICS. NO REPAIR HAS BEEN DONE YET AT THIS TIME, AS I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS WELL AS THE DEALER THAT SOLD ME THE VEHICLE USED. *TR

SATURDAY AFTERNOON ON 11/23/13 WE WERE DRIVING 57 MPH WHEN THE CAR BUCKLED AND THE LITTLE WRENCH CAME ON. WE WERE BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF SIDE OF THE ROAD SINCE THERE WAS A DITCH BESIDE US AND WE WERE ON A STATE ROUTE SO THERE WERE CARS COMING TOWARDS US AND VEHICLES BEHIND US. WE WAITED A FEW MINUTES STARTED THE CAR AND HEADED ON OUR WAY. LATER ON THAT SAME DAY AROUND 10PM THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AND WE HAD NO POWER WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND THE LITTLE WRENCH COMES ON. THIS TIME THERE WAS LESS TRAFFIC AT NIGHT SO WE WERE ABLE TO SOMEWHAT GET OFF THE ROAD. AGAIN WE SAT THERE FOR AWHILE, STARTED IT BACK UP AND HEADED STRAIGHT BACK TO OUR HOUSE. WHILE DRIVING, THE RPMS WILL RANDOMLY DIP DRIVE, THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHTS COME ON, AND THE CAR SHUTS DOWN EITHER TO AN IDLE, STALL, OR COMPLETELY DOWN. I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND CARCOMPLAINTS.COM WITH FIVE OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MADE, YEAR AND MODEL THAT HAD THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM IN 2013. ADD TO THIS THE SERVICE WRITER AT THE DEALERSHIP KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS JUST BY MY INITIAL DESCRIPTION. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL? A CAR SUDDENLY LOOSING ALL PROPULSION IS A DANGER TO THE DRIVER AND OTHERS. *TR
THE FUSION WILL STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WHEN DRIVING THE "WRENCH" LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE GAS PEDAL BECOMES USELESS AND IT IS LEFT TO COAST DOWN THE ROAD. THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS PULL OVER, IF POSSIBLE AND PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. THEN THE CAR SHAKES LIKE CRAZY LIKE THE ENGINE WILL EXPLODE IF YOU DON'T SHUT IF OFF FAST ENOUGH. THERE ENTIRE TIME THE TACHOMETER IS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN AND GAS PEDAL IS USELESS. PUTTING IT IN PARK DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. YOU HAVE TO SHUT DOWN THE CAR. ONCE SHUT OFF, YOU CAN WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS WILL USUALLY START DECENT BUT SOMETIMES WILL BE HARD TO START. THEN IT WILL DRIVE NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND 2 X TODAY WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE IS NO CHUGGING OR WARNING, IT WILL JUST STOP LETTING YOU USE THE GAS PEDAL AND STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I FOUND OUT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND DANGEROUS IF YOU DON'T AS YOU CAN NOT ALWAYS SIMPLY PULL TO THE SIDE AND RESTART YOUR CAR. NOT SAFE FOR ME OR MY PREGNANT WIFE. FIX THE PROBLEM FORD. *TR
STEERING DASH LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS NOT WORKING ON RE-START. THE STEERING GEAR BOX WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR IS SHOWING CODES FOR TRANSMISSION AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE COMPONENTS. WHEN THE CODES ARE CLEARED THE STEERING IS OK FOR A WHILE. *TR
INSTANCE #1. UNRESPONSIVE GAS PEDAL. I PARKED MY FUSION AT THE STORE AND WENT IN FOR 20 MINUTES. CAME OUT, STARTED THE CAR, BACKED UP AND PULLED AWAY SLOWLY. ABOUT 30 FEET FROM THE PARKING SPOT IN A HEAVILY CONGESTED AREA THE CAR JERKED HARSHLY AND SPUTTERED WITH THE WRENCH LIGHTING UP. IT WOULD BARELY MOVE EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO TAP THE GAS AND THEN TRIED HARDER TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY AND INTO A PARKING SPOT.. FINALLY, I GOT IN A PARKING SPOT AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I POPPED THE HOOD AND REMOTE STARTED THE CAR. THE ENGINE RAN NORMAL WITH NO SPUTTERING. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND DROVE 1.5 MILES HOME WITH NO PROBLEMS. (SEE INSTANCE #2). *TR
I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 5 IN SEATTLE WHEN I SUDDENLY FELT A "TUG" AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE AND THE "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE RIGHT-HAND LANE WHERE THE CAR LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE AND DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGH BRIDGE. THE ELECTRICAL REMAINED ON. A STATE TROOPER PUSHED US OFF THE HIGHWAY AND I HAD THE CAR TOWARD TOWED. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT A MONTH LATER (DEC. 15) THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN NEARLY THE SAME LOCATION (MONTLAKE EXIT OF I-5 NORTHBOUND). THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AND DRIVE IT HOME. THE DEALER (AUTONATION IN BELLEVUE) DIAGNOSED A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH WHEN A "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" MESSAGE CAME UP. AT THIS POINT, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. I THEN PARKED MY VEHICLE, TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND BACK ON. THE MESSAGE WAS STILL THERE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST (PARTS AND LABOR) IS $1,830.73. THIS AN ABSURD COST THAT I HAVE TO INCUR BECAUSE I NOTICED MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED SOMETHING FAMILIAR. IN MANY CASES, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE SERVICE MESSAGE WENT AWAY WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED MAKING IT SEEM LIKE A SENSOR ISSUE; HOWEVER, IN MY CASE, I'M BEING TOLD THAT THE RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
