I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE DOING ABOUT 45 MPH ON THE EXPRESS WAY APPROACHING THE EXIT RAMP THE POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT. *TR
THROTTLE RESPONSE STOPPED ENTIRELY AT AN INTERSECTION, RESULTING IN A NEAR REAR-END COLLISION. SUBSEQUENT EXTREME ROUGH IDLE, BOGGED-DOWN ENGINE BEHAVIOR, AND DIFFICULTY TO START ENGINE. FAULTY PART IS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, PER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE13003. *TR
I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC (APPROX 20MPH) WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE ENGINE MECHANICAL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO MOVE TO ACROSS THREE LANES TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WITH NO POWER. I ALMOST GOT THE CAR TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WHEN IT STOPPED. I HAD TO GET OUT ON THE INTERSTATE AND PUSH THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES. THEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR WHEN IT FIRED RIGHT UP LIKE THERE WAS NEVER AN ISSUE. I CONTINUED ON TO WORK. AFTER LEAVING WORK I WAS DRIVING HOME AT ABOUT 70MPH AND AGAIN OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAR LOST POWER AND I AGAIN PULLED TO THE EMERGENCY LANE, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN, AND CONTINUED HOME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION THAT IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE IF IT ALREADY HASN'T.... I ALMOST GOT HIT TRYING TO MOVE MY CAR OFF THE INTERSTATE!!!! *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY LOST POWER, CAR WAS SHUTTERING AND "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE WE WERE GOING UPHILL AT THE TIME, WE LOST SPEED INCREDIBLY FAST BUT MANAGED TO MAKE IT OUT OF TRAFFIC LANE AND ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN AFTER A MINUTE IT RESTARTED AND RAN OK BUT WE'RE AFRAID THAT IT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED. IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. *TR
THE CAR JERKED HARD ONCE WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CAR THEN LOST POWER AND THE WRENCH DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR HAD TO BE GUIDED TO THE SHOULDER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER. THE CAR JERKED AND BUCKED VERY HARD. WHEN TURNED OFF THE CAR RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS EXACT PATTERN HAS REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON COBURG ROAD ABOUT 10:00 AM THIS MORNING AND THE CAR STARTED TO ROCK FRONT AND BACK AND MY SPEED SUDDENLY DROPPED. I WENT FROM ABOUT 25 MPH TO DRIFTING AND ABOUT 2 TO 5 MPH IN TRAFFIC. I COASTED AND TURNED AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION AND PULLED OVER. ALL OF A SUDDEN A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON TO CHECK THE ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE ABOUT 3 MILES TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ON THE WAY TO THE SHOP. THE TOTAL COST WAS ABOUT $350 AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. WE HAVE 2 FORD FUSIONS AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN TO THE 2012 WHILE MY WIFE IS DRIVING. EXTREMELY UNSAFE. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK APPROX 40 MPH, CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS, BUT HAD 3/4 TANK. WRENCH LIGHT LIT UP AND LOST ACCELERATION IMMEDIATELY IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO REV THE ENGINE - THINKING MAYBE DIRT IN FUEL LINE OR FUEL FILTER. NO LUCK. THE CAR DID NOT STALL, SO I PUT IN BACK IN GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP AT NEGLIGIBLE SPEED THANKS TO A SLIGHT DOWNGRADE TO A PARKING LOT NEARBY. AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR IT SEEMED TO RUN NORMALLY BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO RISK DRIVING IT AND STALLING SOMEWHERE MORE DANGEROUS. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AWAITING THEIR DIAGNOSTICS. SOUNDS AN AWFUL LOT LIKE THE OTHER DOCUMENTED THROTTLE BODY ISSUES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND LOST ALL POWER. RPM DECREASED DRAMATICALLY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, HOWEVER THE ENGINE DID NOT STOP RUNNING. THE WRENCH INDICATOR CAME ON AS I MANAGED TO SAFELY GET TO A PARKING LOT. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES. I RE-STARTED THE ENGINE AND DROVE HOME WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. SINCE THE INCIDENT I TOOK THE CAR INTO A REPUTABLE SHOP FOR PROPER DIAGNOSTIC WHICH RESULTED IN NO INDICATION OR FAILURE CODES FROM THE TESTS. THERE WAS NO FOREWARNING FOR THE FAILURE INCIDENT AND I WILL SAY THAT I WAS IN A PRECARIOUS AND DANGEROUS TRAFFIC CONDITION WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THROUGH FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THE FOLLOWING: UNFORTUNATELY THIS FAILURE SEEMS TO BE OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY AND LINKED TO A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES FOR THIS FAILURE APPARENTLY GET ERASED WHEN THE CAR ENGINE IS CYCLED OFF THEN ON, PREVENTING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FROM CAPTURING THE CODE NECESSARY FOR ANALYSIS (UNLESS A DIAGNOSTIC IS PERFORMED WHILE THE INCIDENT IS OCCURRING). IF THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY THE FAILURE CODE SHOULD BE P2111 OR P2112. FORD HAS CHANGED THE PART NUMBER OF THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT PART FROM THE ORIGINAL PART CAUSING SUSPICION TO BE CAST ON THE ORIGINAL PART. THIS WARRANTS A SAFETY RECALL DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE AND POSSIBLE INJURY POTENTIAL WHEN FAILURE OCCURS IN TRAFFIC, BUT HAS NOT BEEN RECOGNIZED BY FORD .....YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALLY ONCE RESTARTED BUT THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE JERKING AND FAILING TO INCREASE SPEED DESPITE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
WHEN TRAVELING HOME FROM WORK ON NOVEMBER 4TH, 2013. VEHICLE'S ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM FAILED.THIS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO TURN CAR AS IT MADE THE STEERING WHEEL VERY STIFF. THIS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN ENTERING A PARKING LOT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE JUST BECAME "OUT OF WARRANTY" AT 75,000 MILES. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR WAS $1762.00 HAVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ITS POWER STEERING HAS ALSO AFFECTED MY TIRES. WHICH NEEDED TO BE CONSTANTLY REPLACED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY FAIRLY NEW AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF FORD FUSION UP A HILL WITH MY FIANCE' AND 1 MONTH OLD BABY COMING HOME. THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STALLED AND CAUSE CARS TO ALMOST CRASH INTO ME. I HAD TO HURRY PULL OVER AND PUSH THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. THANK GOD I WAS NOT MAKING A TURN THROUGH TRAFFIC OR ELSE A TRAGEDIES COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I TRADED MY OTHER FORD FOR THIS NEW ONE THINKING IT WAS SAFER CHOICE. THE ENGINE TOOL CAME ON THEN WENT OFF AS I SHUT THE CAR OFF. TODAY I WAS DRIVING AGAIN ON 11/4/13 AND I WAS GOING THROUGH THE GREEN LIGHT AND BOOM CAR STALLED AGAIN!! THIS TIME TRAFFIC RUSHING TO ME ON THE SIDE WHERE THEY CAN'T SEE MY HAZARDS ON. AGAIN WITH MY BABY IN THE CAR!!! I HAD TO RUN OUT TO STOP TRAFFIC. PLEASE NHTSA HAVE FORD FIX THIS ASAP OR MANY PEOPLE MAY BE AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!!! THEY ARE PUTTING BABIES AT RISK TOO!!! *TR
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70MPH AT NIGHT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN ENGINE STOPPED PRODUCING POWER. ROUGH IDLE AND VIBRATION, FORCING ME TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. PRESSING GAS PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT EVEN THOUGH ENGINE WAS RUNNING. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART AND WAS SUCCESSFUL. THIS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES DURING MY 30 MILE TRIP. EACH TIME I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DURING MODERATE TRAFFIC. ONCE ON A SIDE STREET I WAS FORCED TO STOP IN THE DRIVING LANE AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER. VERY DANGEROUS. ON ALL OF THE OCCASIONS THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I CALLED THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY WERE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM. MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY FOR THE PART AND LABOR. FORD KNOWS THAT THERE IS A FAULTY PART THAT CAUSES A HAZARDOUS LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ERROR CODE WAS P2111. *TR
WHILE DRIVING NEAR MY HOME AT ABOUT 25 MPH MY 2010 FORD FUSION SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO ABOUT 2 MPH AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE ACCELERATOR. SINCE I WAS ONLY ABOUT 100 YDS FROM HOME I LET THE CAR CREEP ALONG AND AS I REACHED MY DRIVEWAY, IT SUDDENLY BUCKED AND BRIEFLY ACCELERATED. I PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE RATHER THAN DRIVE INSIDE AS I WAS AFRAID IT MIGHT ACCELERATE INSIDE THE GARAGE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. A BRIEF ONLINE SEARCH INDICATED THAT THIS IS A RATHER COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2010 FORD FUSION. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT IS OCCURRED ON A QUIET SIDE STREET WITH NO OTHER VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. IT COULD HAVE HAD TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
DRIVING ALONG AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLES JERKED ONCE AND THEN DID NOT RESPOND TO PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. AS I COASTED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, I NOTICED THE RPM GAUGE SPUTTERING BETWEEN 500-1100 RPM. AS I STOPPED THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO SHAKE. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED IT. I DROVE ANOTHER 5 MILES AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE MORE BEFORE I ARRIVED AT MY JOB AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. *TR
VEHICLE JUST STOPPED, COULDN'T ACCELERATE, LOSS OF POWER, COULDN'T GET ANY SPEED. *TR
I JUST GOT OFF I-59 SOUTH AND WAS HOLDING ACCELERATION AT AROUND 25MPH WHEN WITHOUT ANY INDICATIONS OF TROUBLE, I GET AN ORANGE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE GAS PEDAL QUITS RESPONDING AND I LOSE ALL ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE BEGINS LOSING POWER DOWN TO A ROUGH IDLE. I PULL OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF. I TRIED TURNING IT BACK ON WITH NO CHANGE. I TRIED TURNING IT OFF AND ONE MORE TIME AND IT RESET AND DROVE OKAY TO WORK, ANOTHER MILE AND A HALF. *TR
VEHICLE ALMOST STALLED LIKE IT WAS STARVING FOR GAS. HAS DONE IT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE ALL OF A SUDDEN. I HAD TO TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND COAST TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OFF. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 2 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY WHICH IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL 2010 FORD FUSIONS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PART. ALL 3 TIMES THIS HAPPENED I HAD TO COAST TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC MOVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAD I BEEN ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN A MIDDLE LANE I WOULD HAVE HAD A HARD TIME MOVING TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. *TR
OWNER WAS DRIVING A 2010 FORD FUSION ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC APPROACHING A TWO LANE TUNNEL ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2013. VEHICLE WAS NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN PRESSURING THE ACCELERATOR, SO HAD TO PULL OVER ONTO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY. EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTING THE IGNITION, CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, ALTHOUGH IT BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT DISPLAYED AS WRENCH ICON, WHICH ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL MEANT A POTENTIAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AAA TOWED CAR TO RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. THE NEXT MORNING, SATURDAY NOVEMBER 2, A THIRD PARTY TOWING COMPANY HIRED BY FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED TO TOW VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THE TOW TRUCK URGED DRIVER TO DRIVE THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP, AND FOLLOWED BEHIND. AFTER ABOUT 2 MILES OF DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL SURFACE STREETS, CAR BECAME NONRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATOR WHILE DRIVING AROUND 10 MI/HR. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOWED THE VEHICLE THE REMAINING DISTANCE TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN COLMA, CALIFORNIA. AFTER WAITING FOR AN HR, DEALER MECHANIC REPORTED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND ADVISED THAT THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WAS INAPPLICABLE DESPITE VEHICLE BEING WITHIN THE 5 YR / 60,000 MI WINDOW. THE FORD DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE REPAIR AND COLLECTED PAYMENT THE SAME DAY. AFTER RETURNING HOME WITH THE VEHICLE, I DISCOVERED THAT PG 19 OF THE 2010 FORD OWNER'S MANUAL SHOWED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS A COVERED PART THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE AS AN EMISSIONS-RELATED COMPONENT SO LONG AS THE VEHICLE WAS WITHIN 8 YRS / 80,000 MI. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AGREED THAT PG 19 SHOWED THAT THIS PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THEY ADVISED THAT THEIR INTERNAL FORD COMPUTER DATABASE INDICATED THAT THIS PART WAS ONLY COVERED FOR HYBRID VEHICLES DESPITE THE WRITTEN MANUAL MAKING NO SUCH DISTINCTION. *TR
WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE FOR A GREEN LIGHT THE CAR BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO A SAFE PLACE AT IDLE ONLY SPEED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT THE CAR COULD NOT BE LOOKED AT UNTIL MONDAY. THE CAR IS UNDER A FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD WARRANTY PROGRAM, BY PHONE, THAT I COULD RENT A CAR AND THE COST WOULD BE COVERED FOR THREE DAYS UNDER THE FORD INSURANCE PROGRAM. I WAS BILLED FOR $359.24 FOR REPLACING A THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASY WHICH WAS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED FORD WARRANTY AND THEREFORE THE RENTAL WAS NOT COVERED EITHER. THIS INCLUDED $119.95 FOR A PIN POINTS TEST WHICH WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY SINCE FORD HAS HAD TO REPLACE THOUSANDS OF THESE PARTS AND FORD HAS SENT BULLETINS TO FORD DEALERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
CAR STALLED ON HIGHWAY- HAD TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER AND RESTART AUTO RAN FOR AT ABOUT 5 MPH- DID NOT REACT TO ACCELERATOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION, WHO ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND ENGINE GASKET WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 3/28/14*CN
PARKING BRAKE HANDLE WOULD NOT RELEASE BRAKES AND WAS TOTALLY LOOSE. BRAKES WERE LOCKED UP, BUT AFTER GOING IN REVERSE IT FINALLY RELEASED. SINCE THEN IF WEATHER IS BELOW FREEZING BRAKE LEVER CANNOT BE MOVED AT ALL. IF WEATHER IS ABOVE FREEZING IT SEEMS TO WORK BUT WE ARE AFRAID TO USE IT FOR FEAR OF LOCKING UP. SOME OWNER INPUT WAS FOUND ON INTERNET SAYING THAT THE CABLE BOOTS WERE POSSIBLY WORN AND WATER GETS INTO THE MECHANISM AND PREVENTS LEVER FROM OPERATING. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON FORD FUSION PROBLEM THIS TIME OF YEAR. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY HAD NO INPUT ON PROBLEM. I WILL HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AS THE LOCAL DEALER SERVICE DEPT. IS A THIEF. IN MEANTIME I CANNOT USE THE PARKING BRAKE. WARRANTY IS OVER BUT I THINK FORD SHOULD ATTEND TO THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUS DEFECT. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON INTERSTATE 85, SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE, 70 MPH AT RUSH HOUR, A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, SHE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED, AND COULD BARELY GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT DID START AGAIN AFTER A FEW MINUTES, SHE GOT IT TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD HER IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH HAD GONE BAD. *TR

I SAT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND IT RESTARTED. HAVE CALLED AROUND AND SEEMS TO BE A COMMON FACTOR FOR FORD FUSION TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODIES. TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS SEAL AT LEFT CV JOINT. I TOOK IT TO HAVE IT SERVICED DUE TO SLIPPING/ JERKING WHEN CHANGING GEARS. TOTAL OF REPAIRS COST ME OVER $500.00, 4 DAYS LATER, SEAL IS BROKEN AGAIN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE...AFTER SEEING HUNDREDS OF EXACT SAME ISSUE! *TR
DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, MY CAR BEGAN SUDDENLY SHUTTING OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AND SURFACE ROADS. I WOULD PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES. THE CAR WOULD WORK FINE AFTERWARDS. I FIRST HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED WHICH REVEALED A BAD BATTERY, I HAD IT REPLACED. THE CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE SYMPTOMS AFTER THE NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED. I ALSO NOTICED THE STALLING HAPPENED MORE WHEN I FILLED THE GAS TANK COMPLETELY. I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE PLACE I PURCHASED IT FOR DIAGNOSTICS. I DISCOVERED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. I WAS TOLD BY A TECH THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD ASSEMBLED NEW THROTTLE BODIES TO REPLACE THE ORIGINALS AS THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. APPARENTLY, THE INTAKE WAS NOT OPENING/CLOSING PROPERLY THEREFORE THE ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS AT TIMES. THE SHOP WAS ABLE TO PULL CODES FROM THE PREVIOUS STALL EVENTS, P2111 & P2112. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, ~ $300.00. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND EXPECT/HOPE A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. AS A SIDE NOTE, MY ABS LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL. THERE WAS A KNOWN RECALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY, SHORTED TO GROUND. FORD REPLACED THE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY AT NO CHARGE. 1ST EVENT-WHEN I ACCELERATED AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR SHUTTERED AND BARELY MOVED. LUCKILY NO COLLISION. ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THEN I RESTARTED WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS SHOWING AND DROVE HOME. 2ND EVENT--IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I ACCELERATED AND AGAIN IT SHUTTERED AND STOPPED MOVING. ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE WHICH CAUSED A BACKUP AND FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENT! I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WORRIED THAT SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN, I DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS TEN DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS WITHOUT A CAR OVERNIGHT. MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE V6 FLEX FUEL HAS QUIT ABOUT SIX TIMES OVER THE PAST TEN DAYS. THE FIRST DISTRESSING INCIDENT OCCURRED ABOUT 9 P.M. ON AN ISOLATED COUNTY ROAD WITH MY 4-YEAR-OLD GRANDSON IN THE CAR. WE WERE TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR STALLED & SEEMED TO LOSE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR QUIT PULLING, A WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASH, THEN STARTING BUCKING & IDLING ERRATICALLY. I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER & TURNED OFF THE KEY. I RETRIED THE IGNITION & CAR RESTARTED. AFTER MAKING SURE IT WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN, I PULLED BACK OUT & CONTINUED HOME. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAD JUST CHECKED THIS CAR 3 WKS BEFORE FOR "FUEL INLET LIGHT" ISSUE. TOLD THAT THE NECK OF THE GAS LINE LEAKS AIR/WATER (CAR WAS DESIGNED/SOLD W/OUT A GAS CAP WHICH CAUSES THAT LIGHT & CHECK ENGINE TO LIGHT UP). WE BELIEVED THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF PROBLEM, ONCE AGAIN, OR PERHAPS I HAD GOTTEN SOME BAD GAS. WE HAD BEEN TO TOWN, ADDED FUEL CLEANER, FILLED THE TANK & HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-95 IN NORTHERN FLORIDA DOING 73 MPH.. MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE HIGHWAY WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT THE TIME AND I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY MANEUVER BETWEEN SAFETY CONES TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED TWO WARNINGS: A 'WRENCH' FIGURE AND THE ENGINE TROUBLE LIGHT. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO RESUME MY JOURNEY. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONE MINUTE LATER AND I AGAIN HAD TO MAKE A DESPERATE TURN ONTO THE SHOULDER. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. AFTER THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE THEY TOLD ME THE MESSAGE THAT CAME UP INDICATED THE 'THROTTLE BODY' NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR 5 YEAR/60,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY! I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THIS PART HAS BEEN VERY PROBLEMATIC FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. I BELIEVE THIS PART SHOULD BE COVERED AND A RECALL ISSUED. I LOST MY POWER STEERING IN MY 2010 FUSION. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (THINKING I HAD A WARRANTY ON IT) TO GET IT FIXED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY FLASHED THE COMPUTER AND IT CAME BACK WITH A HARD FAULT AND THE WHOLE RACK NEED TO BE REPLACE. NOT HAVING THE MONEY I PICKED UP THE CAR AND IT WORKED FINE. DROVE IT FOR A WEEK THEN AT THE SAME SPOT IN THE ROAD IT WENT OUT AGAIN. CALLED ANOTHER DEALER CLOSER TO WORK TOO SEE IF I COULD HAVE IT REFLASHED TO HOPEFULLY RESET IT AGAIN BUT THEY TOLD ME ONCE IT WAS FLASHED THAT THEY COULDN'T DO IT AGAIN. AFTER PULLING ONTO A SIDE ROAD IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK, MY RPM GAUGE BEGAN FLUCTUATING AND I WAS NOT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL.IT ALSO BEGAN HARD SHIFTING AND IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO DROP.
