TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE CONTACT COASTED ONTO THE SHOULDER, RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION HOWEVER, THE FAILURE BECAME RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,063.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH, THE ENGINE WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE AS I WAS IN THE FAST LANE. IT HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE SO I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOBODY BEHIND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL THREE LANES OVER TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER. IF THERE WAS ANYBODY BEHIND ME I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE. FORD TECH TOLD ME IT WAS AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND CANNOT BELIEVE THE PART HASNT BEEN RECALLED. IRRESPONSIBILITY BY FORD, IF YOU ASK ME. *TR
DRIVING 75MPH ON HIGHWAY VEHICLE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING OR SIGNALS STALLS. THE VEHICLE DROPPED THE SPEED FROM 75MPH TO 10MPH AS I CONTINUOUSLY WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE SPEED BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CODE OF P211 THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE & THANK GOD NO VEHICLE WAS BEHIND ME CAUSE IT COULD OF CAUSED A TREMENDOUS CRASH ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN VEHICLE DIED, HAVING COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BOTH CAME ON. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ONTO AND MANY LARGE 18 WHEELERS DRIVING BY. I PULLED OVER IN SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY, TURNED THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF, INSPECTED UNDER THE HOOD AND AROUND THE VEHICLE WITH NO FINDINGS, AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED BUT HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING OVER. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE FOR APPROX 5 MORE MILES WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. ON THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE HAD LOSS OF POWER BUT THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING. THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, FROM DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. ONCE I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER THE ENGINE BEGAN ROCKING THE CAR VIOLENTLY. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND LET IT REST FOR 5 MINUTES. I RESTARTED THE CAR ONCE AGAIN, THIS TIME WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AND DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO AN AUTO SHOP. THE MECHANIC PERFORMING WORK ON THE CAR STATES THE ERROR CODE WAS P2111 AND WAS THE THROTTLE BODY CAUSING THE PROBLEM. *TR
AT THE END OF AN INTERSTATE ON RAMP, THE FORD FUSION CLUNKED,STALLED, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS IN A VERY DANGEROUS PLACE. LOTS OF HONKING THAT I COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON A COUPLE OF TIMES, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A LESS DANGEROUS PLACE. TOWED IT TO THE FORD GARAGE WHERE THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOSS POWER TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I RETURNED BACK ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR ONCE AGAIN LOSS POWER AND WAS STUTTERING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THE ENGINE. I PULLED THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR ONCE AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY . *TR
MY WIFE WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON A MAIN HIGHWAY, WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR ENTERED "LIMP HOME MODE" AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. SHE MANAGED TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE WHICH RESET THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, TODAY DURING NORMAL DRIVING THE PROBLEM RECURRED AND SHE WAS LEFT WAITING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE WERE AGAIN ABLE TO RESET THE PROBLEM AND GET THE CAR HOME. THE DRIVE WAS LESS THAN 10 MILES AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED ONCE. SINCE THEN WHILE TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR LESS THAN 20 MILES AND THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THIS CAR DOSE NOT HAVE BAD WEATHER FLOOR MATS. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION *JUST* TURNED 30K MILES;THE BASIC WARRANTY ENDED 7/31/13. ON 10/13 DRIVING 60 MPH ON I-95 IN THE MIDDLE LANE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED-NO ENGINE POWER/RESPONSE WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. A WRENCH LIGHT WAS LIT ON MY DASH. WITH NO ENGINE POWER TO QUICKLY PULL OVER, I WAS AFRAID OF BEING HIT & BARELY COASTED OVER 3 LANES TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP & IT STARTED BUCKING.I REALIZED THE CAR HAD NOT STALLED--IT HAD LOST ENGINE POWER. I PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF & ON TO START THE CAR. IT STARTED FINE, IDLED FINE, NO WRENCH LIGHT LIT; I EASED MY WAY BACK INTO TRAFFIC. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE SAME THING HAPPENED: THE CAR SEEMED TO STALL-LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE.THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS LIT; THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT.FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN THE RIGHT-HAND LANE & COULD COAST INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE; THE CAR STARTED BUCKING AGAIN. I AGAIN PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION COMPLETELY OFF & ON AGAIN TO START THE CAR. AGAIN, THE CAR SEEMED TO RUN FINE, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT, & THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED LIT. I GINGERLY REENTERED TRAFFIC & DROVE HOME SLOWLY IN THE RIGHT-HAND LANE.MY MECHANIC RETRIEVED A SERVICE CODE OF P2111 WHICH IS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I RESEARCHED-THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS, THERE IS A TSB, & THERE HAS BEEN COMMUNICATION BETWEEN NHTSA & FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I CALLED MY DEALER, EXPLAINED, GAVE THEM THE CODE, TOLD THEM WHAT I FOUND & THAT IT SHOULD FALL UNDER THE EMISSIONS DEFECT WARRANTY (IT IS TECHNICALLY AN EMISSIONS DEFECT), IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SINCE MY CAR WAS BARELY OUT OF THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY & ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT, IT WAS A GOODWILL MATTER.FEARFUL OF BREAKING DOWN AGAIN I HAD THE CAR TOWED ~30 MILES TO THE DEALER.THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY & IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE $420.58!! *TR
WHILE EXITING A HIGHWAY AT NEARLY 60MPH MY CARS TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WENT UNRESPONSIVE. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT THE CAR WAS COASTING. I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS. I HAD A SEMI TRUCK NEXT TO AND BEHIND ME. I WAS NEARLY HIT WHILE TRYING TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHILE STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE CAR STARTED LURCHING VIOLENTLY. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY FORD DEALER. MY DEALER TOLD ME THE CAR NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY PART WHICH WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANT SINCE MY 3 YEARS WAS UP 3 MONTHS PRIOR. WHEN I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE ONLINE IT APPEARS THIS IS A CONSTANT COMPLAINT AND PROBLEM. WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALLED PART. IT NEARLY KILLED US. I HAVE A 12 YEAR OLD SON AND NO LONGER FEEL SAFE HAVING THIS CAR. WHAT'S WORSE IS THIS PROBLEM WAS KNOWN PRIOR TO MY BEING SOLD THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE. I WANTED TO BUY AMERICAN AND HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH FORD IN THE PAST, BUT THEY DECIDED SAVING A FEW BUCKS WAS WORTH MORE THAN MY AND MY CHILD'S SAFETY. HOW IS THIS LEGAL. IF NOTHING ELSE CAR COMPANIES SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO DISCLOSE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM TO POTENTIAL BUYERS.. *TR
CAR STALLED THEN DIED STARTED AGAIN AND DID THE SAME THING IN 200FEET THREE TIMES THEN I HAD IT TOWED. *TR
I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WITH MY 21 MONTH OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND PROCEEDED INTO THE INTERSECTION. THE CAR "STALLED" AND STOPPED MOVING. IT DID NOT DIE BUT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND WE WERE LEFT SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WITH NO MOVEMENT. THE CAR CONTINUED TO IDLE AND YOU COULD FEEL IT TRYING TO GO BUT IT WOULDN'T AND I WAS LEFT TRYING TO COAST OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. I EVENTUALLY MANAGED TO COAST TO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHERE I PULLED OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. WHEN I WOULD STEP ON THE GAS THE CAR WOULD SLIGHTLY "LURCH" LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO GO BUT IT WASN'T GETTING ANY GAS AND THE RPMS WOULD NOT CLIMB (SO NOT THE TRANSMISSION). INSTEAD THE NEEDLE ON THE RPM WOULD BOUNCE SLIGHTLY UP AND DOWN AS THE CAR TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD. ONCE I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO OPERATE FINE BUT CONTINUED TO HESITATE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION. *TR
MY SIXTEEN YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN A "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON (IN THE DASH) AND THE CAR LOOSES ALL POWER AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR. RESTARTING THE CAR AFTER PULLING OVER RESULTS IN NORMAL OPERATION. UPON RESEARCHING THE ISSUE IT TURNS OUT THE THROTTLE PLATE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT THE RESULT OF ABUSE OR DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS AND IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. I AM CONFIDENT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SERIOUS INJURY RESULTS FROM SUCH LOSS OF CONTROL WITHOUT WARNING OR INDICATION. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS HUNDREDS (OR MORE) OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME CAR WITHIN THE SAME MILEAGE RANGE - ABOUT 66,000. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO RECALL. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO MY GRANDSONS WEDDING WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CARS POWER WENT OFF,FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO GET OFF ROAD BUT HAD I NOT BEEN COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN IN ACCIDENT,TURNED OFF ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE NEXT FEW MILES AND THEN BACK HOME. HOWEVER ON MY WAY TO WORK MONDAY THE 14TH OF OCTOBER 2013 THE CAR DID THE SAME THING THREE TIMES AND I MANEUVERED TO SIDE AND CALLED MIKE FITZPATRICK FORD NEWNAN GEORGIA AND THEY CAME AND GOT ME.ONLY TO BE TOLD IT WAS THROTTLE BODY WHICH WOULD COST ME OVER 400.00. THE CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 26,000 MILES,I MEAN REALLY????? MEANWHILE MY DAUGHTER HAD ALREADY WENT ON LINE AND KNEW IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT SEVERAL OTHERS HAD COMPLAINED WITH THE SAME THING IN THE 2010 FUSION. SO COME ON AND INSIST ON RECALL BEFORE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. COULD BE ONE OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS. I WILL NOT LET THIS GO. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO DECELERATE AT A RAPID PACE AND EVENTUALLY STALLED. WE NOTICED A WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD AS WE PULLED THE CAR OVER. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE A COUPLE OF MILES BEFORE THE SAME THING WOULD OCCUR. AFTER A COUPLE MORE TIMES OF HAVING TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO A FAMILY MEMBERS HOUSE AS WE WERE APPROX 90 MILES FROM HOME. THE CODE WE PULLED FROM THE CAR WAS P2111.....INDICATIVE OF THIS INFAMOUS THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO GET TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP 35 MILES AWAY.....YET ANOTHER 35 FROM OUR HOME. THANKFULLY THIS WAS COVERED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN FROM FORD. A COWORKER OF MINE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO....SAME MAKE/MODEL/YEAR. LUCKILY THE HIGHWAY WE WERE ON WASN'T BUSY AT THE TIME THE CAR STALLED REPEATEDLY. I DON'T SEE HOW THIS CAN'T BE A RECALL...... *TR
TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE APPEARED TO BE QUITTING. I PUNCHED THE ACCELERATOR A NUMBER OF TIMES, HOWEVER, THE CAR DIDN'T RESPOND AND THE ENGINE SIMPLY QUIT. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE CAR (AFTER HAVING HAD TO FLAG CARS TO GO AROUND ME TO AVOID A REAR-END COLLISION), IT INITIALLY WOULD NOT RE-START. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED. SO FAR IT HAS RUN FINE, BUT HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THROTTLE BODY ON A PREVIOUS VEHICLE (TOYOTA CAMRY), I KNOW THAT THIS IS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND THAT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL QUIT AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION OR IDLING. I AM NOW AFRAID TO TAKE THE VEHICLE ONTO THE HIGHWAY FOR FEAR OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. SEEING NUMEROUS POSTING ON THIS ISSUE OF THE FORD FUSIONS THROTTLE BODY, IT IS APPARENT THAT THE COMPANY NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 GOING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON CAR SOUNDED AS IT WAS GETTING NO GAS AND STALLED AS TURNING IN. I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK WHILE GOING 65 MPH ON I-65 WHILE IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, CAR DECELERATED TO 30MPH AND BEGAN SHAKING. HAD TO PULL OVER AND AVOID BEING HIT BY 4 SEMIS AND 5 CARS, THANKFULLY MANAGED TO GET IN MEDIAN, JUST IN TIME. CAR HAD TO BE RESTARTED WHICH IT DID FINE, BUT LATER HAPPENED AGAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN THAT IT IS A KNOWN FAILURE WITH A DIAGNOSIS OF THROTTLE BODY FAILURE!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED TO 30 MPH WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING ICON. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE, AS THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS ALSO EXPERIENCED LATER WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD AND CAR STARTS TO JERK THEN DIES. I WAIT A MINUTE OR SO THE START UP AGAIN AND GO A MILE OR SO AND IT DOES IT AGAIN, THIS HAPPEN ALL THE WAY TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE TELLING IT THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT HAPPENING TO A LOT OF THE FORD FUSION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE THE SPEED BECAME TO RAPIDLY DECREASE WHILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR BEGIN SHAKE AND SPUTTER. TRIED DRIVING AGAIN AND REALIZED THAT I WAS FINE AS LONG AS I DID NOT GO OVER 40MPH. HAD TO HAVE ME CAR TOWED HOME BECAUSE OF THE DISTANCE BETWEEN MY JOB AND HOME. CALLED AROUND, HAD THE CODE READ ON THE CAR AND IT WAS A "P2112" ERROR CODE WHICH POINTED TO THE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR MY OWN PART-LABOR. PAYING $445 ON TOMORROW TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR IN JANUARY 2013, AND ME PAYING FOR REPAIRS ON TOMORROW MEANS THAT I CANNOT PAY MY CAR NOTE. THIS IS HORRIBLE SINCE THE REPRESENTATIVE AT FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE POSTS ONLINE REGARDING THE SAME THING. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD, HAD I BEEN GOING FASTER ON THE INTERSTATE (I HAD NOT MADE IT ON YET WHEN THE ISSUE FIRST STARTED) MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN STOP. *TR
THE VEHICLES ENGINE ACTS AS IF IT WERE GOING TO SHUT DOWN OR STALL, AND GOES INTO "LIMP MODE." THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY WHERE WE WERE NEARLY STRUCK FROM BEHIND! *TR
1ST INCIDENT: I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 65MPH. MY RPM DROPPED FOR NO REASON. IT FELT LIKE I LOST POWER BUT THE CAR KEPT MOVING. I TOOK THE NEXT EXIT AND WHILE SITTING AT AN INTERSECTION THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. I WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TURNED THE KEY...THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP. 2ND: I WAS DRIVING 40 MPH AND NOTICED THE RPM DROP. WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER. 3RD INCIDENT: TONIGHT, AS I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH DOWN A WINDING ROAD, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR LOST POWER AND SLOWED TO A ROLL.
