WHILE DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY (3 YR OLD , 6 MONTH OLD AND MY HUSBAND) THROTTLE SUDDEN STOPPED FUNCTIONING. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME AND WAS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS TO SUDDENLY LOSE SPEED. WHEN WE PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR THE THROTTLE RESPONSE SEEMED BACK TO NORMAL. WE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY ( AS THIS IS MY FAMILIES ONLY CAR) I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE WITH MY GIRLS IN THE CAR. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION BEGINS TO SHAKE, VIBRATE AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AT EITHER INTERSTATE SPEEDS OR CITY DRIVING SPEEDS. I HAVE TO STOP, PLACE MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO BEING REAR ENDED BY A CAR BEHIND ME, BOTH ON THE INTERSATE AND ON CITY STREETS. *JS
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A 2 LANE HIGHWAY (STATE ROAD, PA) WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO RAPIDLY LOSE ACCELERATION AND SEEMED TO STALL. THE ENGINE JERKED EXCESSIVELY, BUT NEVER TURNED OFF. NO AMOUNT OF PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. LUCKILY, NO ONE HIT ME. TURNED ENGINE OFF AND CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. TURNED THE VEHICLE ON A FEW MINUTES LATER AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHEN ACCELERATOR LOST CONTROL. NEXT DAY, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK , IT HAPPENED ON RT13N DE AND AGAIN I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO QUICKLY GET TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT AND NO CONTROL ON ACCELERATOR WITH ENGINE VIBRATING HEAVILY BUT DOES NOT TURN OFF. SWITCHED OFF AND TURNED ON - EVERYTHING IS FINE. SAME DAY EVENING - RETURNING FROM WORK - IT HAPPENS AS I GET ON THE ENTRY RAMP TO I95 N DE. NARROWLY MISSED SOMEONE REAR ENDING ME. YELLOW LIGHT, HEAVY VIBRATION AND NO ACCELERATION. TURN OFF AND TURN ON, EVERYTHING IS FINE. BEING IN DOWNTOWN WILMINGTON - NO EMERGENCY LANE AND HAD TO DO THIS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD DURING RUSH HOUR. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND WITH 2 CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT - I FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY. IMAGINE IF THIS IS HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH A 18 WHEELER BEHIND YOU. WILL BE TAKING TO DEALER FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. VEHICLE IS SERVICED AND MAINTAINED ONLY BY FORD. NO ONE HAS TOUCHED MY VEHICLE OTHER THAN FORD AUTHORIZED DEALER AND HAVE NOT MISSED A SINGLE FORD RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SERVICE. *JB
WE WERE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND DIED OUT. THIS CONTINUED 6 MORE TIMES BEFORE WE FOUND A VALVOLINE AND HAD THEM TEST IT ON THEIR COMPUTER. IT GAVE THE CODE P2111 TAC SYSTEM OPEN. NOW THE CODE IS GONE AND THE DEALER CAN NOT FIX IT UNLESS IT DISPLAYS THIS CODE SO WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE ERROR MESSAGE SHOWS UP AGAIN.*JB
I ACCELERATED AFTER A RED LIGHT AND WAS TRAVELING UP AN INCLINE AND SUDDENLY I HAD NO ENGINE POWER. I THOUGHT CAR HAD STALLED BUT ALL LIGHTS WERE ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND I STILL HAD STEERING CAPABILITY. I COASTED DOWN THE BRIDGE AND PULLED OFF INTO THE FIRST PUBLIC PARKING I COULD FIND. THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY ROUGH. I SHUT IT OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED. IT STARTED FINE AND TRAVELED OK ON THE WAY HOME. IT SEEMED A LITTLE HESITANT A COUPLE TIMES BUT IT DIDN'T REPEAT THE "LIMP-MODE" THAT IT WAS IN PREVIOUSLY. *JB
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 70 MPH AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON MY DASHBOARD. A WRENCH CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED LOSING POWER. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHUT THE CAR OFF. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES, STARTED IT. IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I DROVE FOR A FEW MILES, IT DID IT AGAIN. *JB
JUST FOUR MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY SO CALLED "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 172 POINT PASS INSPECTED 2010 FORD FUSION" THE CAR STARTS ACTING UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MAIN STREET IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN, THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION RIGHT AFTER I STARTED TAKING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT. THE WRENCH LIGHT THEN CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED TO STALL OUT AS THIS WAS GOING ON I'M ALSO TRYING TO TURN LEFT, WHICH WAS A LITTLE SCARY BECAUSE I BASICALLY CUT SOMEONE OFF WHILE TURNING BECAUSE, I HAD NO ACCELERATION WHATSOEVER TO AVOID THEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHOSE HAD TO GO THROUGH IT FROM ALL THE SAME COMPLAINTS I SEE ON THE INTERNET. THIS MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT! *JB
I WAS TRAVELING ON A TWO-LANE PAVED ROAD IN A 50 MILE AN HOUR ZONE WHEN I FELT THE CAR START TO DECELERATE. I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT NOTHING HAPPENED AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AT THE INTERSECTION OF A SIDE ROAD WHERE I SHUT THE CAR OFF. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND PROCEEDED OUT INTO THE MAIN ROAD. LESS THAN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE AGAIN AND I TURNED ONTO MY STREET AND COASTED TO A STOP. BOTH TIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE WRENCH ICON ON THE DASH CAME ON. WHEN I HAD THE CAUSE OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSED, I FOUND OUT THAT THE CAR'S THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED. I COULD ONLY ORDER THE PART THROUGH A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE CLOSEST ONE IS 40 MINUTES AWAY FROM ME. *TR
DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON GEORGIA 400 IN CENTER RIGHT AND CAR ENGINE STOPS. PUSHED GAS PEDAL A FEW TIMES, BUT CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND AND SLOWED DOWN QUICKLY. WAS HEADING UPHILL JUST SOUTH OF THE CHATAHOOCHEE RIVER. ELECTRICAL WAS WORKING AS RADIO REMAINED ON AND I WAS ABLE TO APPLY HAZARD LIGHTS AND COAST TO THE SHOULDER. PLACED CARD IN PARK AND TURNED IGNITION OFF. IMMEDIATELY TURNED IGNITION ON AND CAR STARTED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR TO DESTINATION WITH NO ISSUE. I PAID FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY. *TR
WHILE I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY MY CAR LOST POWER AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER. THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TRAVELING DOWN THE STREET AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH WHEN THE CAR ALERTED US THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, MESSAGES READ SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW & SERVICE ADVTRAC. WE PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT BLOCK INTO A PARKING LOT, TURNED THE CAR OFF & LOOKED FOR THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR. FOUND NONE, . TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND HAD NO POWER STEERING. *JS
DRIVING ON A BUSY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR LOOSES POWER AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE. ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND MY CAR SHUTTERED A BIT AS I SLOWED DOWN. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A MINUTE BEFORE RESTARTING. RESTARTED SLUGGISHLY. BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN AND NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE AGAIN, TURNED CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN. MADE IT INTO A LOCAL BRAKE/MUFFLER SHOP WHERE THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR ME. ERROR CODE P2112 CAME OVER WITH A DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR BEING STUCK CLOSED. THEY INFORMED ME THEY'VE SEEN THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. IT MADE SENSE TO ME BECAUSE, LEADING UP TO THIS EVENT, I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A LAGGING THROTTLE. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE MORE SINCE THIS INITIAL OCCURRENCE. *JB
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN WRENCH LIGHTS UP AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH NO ACCELERATION. SHUT CAR OFF AND WAS ALLOWED TO MAKE IT UP TO 45MPH AND UNDER 2K RPMS. RECALL FORD FUSION THROTTLE BODIES!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACETATE HOWEVER. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND RESTARTED SOME TIME LATER AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, WHO SUGGESTED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY COULD HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, TRAVELING AT APPX 65-70 MILES PER HOUR - CAR STARTED RATTLING AND THEN SLOWED DOWN CONSIDERABLY - CAR DID NOT STALL, BUT PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER, TURNED THE CAR OFF, TRIED TO DRIVE, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T DRIVE - ENGINE WORKED FINE, BUT CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD IT NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *JB
SECOND ENGINE/POWER TRAIN FAILURE WITHIN 4,000 MILES OF VEHICLE 36 MONTH, 36,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRATION (FIRST FAILURE WAS A TOTAL POWER LOSS AT HIGH WAY SPEEDS WITHIN 1,000 MILES OF WARRANTY EXPIRATION). VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN JERKING, SHUTTERING AND HESITATING UPON FIRST ACCELERATION. FORD EVALUATED MASS FLOW SENSOR TO BE FAULTY AND REPLACED AT $425 COST IN ADDITION TO $50 RENTAL CAR. UPON CONSULTATION WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO COSTS WERE COVERED OR REIMBURSED. MY WIFE OFTEN TRAVELS ALONE WITH MY CHILDREN, SO WE PURCHASE NEW CARS SPECIFICALLY TO AVOID SUCH BREAK DOWNS AND MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS. WE PAID CASH FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND COULD BUY A NEW BMW 760IL TOMORROW FREE AND CLEAR. INSTEAD, WE BOUGHT A FORD FUSION TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE AMERICAN AUTO INDUSTRY. UNDERSTAND THAT MECHANICAL FAILURES HAPPEN, BUT VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR NOT REIMBURSING OR ISSUING RECALLS FOR THESE KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECTS OCCURRING ON ESSENTIALLY NEW FIRST OWNER CARS < 40,000 MILES. WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN. *TR
TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR AND SUDDENLY NO POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. CAR STARTS SHAKING AND SLOWS TO NOTHING. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AT THE TIME BECAUSE THE CAR CONTINUED TO SHAKE & THEN SHUT OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. VERY FRIGHTENING AND SHOCKING. SO THANKFUL MY GRANDSON WAS NOT IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME. THE 2ND TIME IT OCCURRED, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IT AND HE TURNED OUT ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY FROM OUR NEIGHBORHOOD & IT TURNED OFF ON HIM. ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT LEAST 55 MILES PER HOUR CAME UPON HIM BEFORE HE GOT IT RESTARTED & NEARLY REAR ENDED HIM. THANKFULLY, THEY WERE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME, BUT WERE QUITE ANGRY & BLOWING THEIR HORN BECAUSE THEY ASSUMED SOME FOOL HAD JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY! THIS HAPPENS WITH NOT ENOUGH WARNING TO GET OFF THE ROAD & SOMETIMES THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE ANYWAY.THE CAR DID THIS THREE MORE TIMES AS MY HUSBAND DECIDED IT WAS GOING STRAIGHT FOR REPAIR. FORTUNATELY HE HAD CALLED ME & I WAS ABLE TO FOLLOW HIM IN ANOTHER VEHICLE HIM MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON FOR SAFETY.I KEPT A SAFE DISTANCE AND WAS ALERT FOR WHEN IT TURNED OFF. THIS MADE ME TRULY REALIZE, AS IT CONTINUED TO TURN OFF ON HIM, HOW VERY DANGEROUS THIS WAS FOR THE PERSON IN THE FUSION & FOR THE VEHICLE BEHIND THEM OR COMING INTO AN INTERSECTION. I KNEW TO BE AWARE, BUT OTHERS WOULDN'T BE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN INTERSECTIONS & WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO HIGHWAYS. WE KNOW WE CAN'T DRIVE THIS AND ARE TRYING TO GET IT FIXED, BUT APPARENTLY IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR FORD FUSIONS BECAUSE WE WERE JUST TOLD THERE IS A 3-6 MONTH WAIT FOR THE THROTTLE BODY PART WHICH IS THE PROBLEM. VERY FRUSTRATED AND FRIGHTENED FOR THOSE STILL DRIVING THESE VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE WHO KNOWS WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN TO THE CAR AND WHAT TRAGIC ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL & GET THESE VEHICLES FIXED!!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103056. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, I SUDDENLY LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL, REQUIRING ME TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, THRU 2 OR 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. THE AMBER "WRENCH" LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR AND SHUTTING IT OFF, I RESTARTED IT, AND ALL WAS WELL AGAIN. "WRENCH" LIGHT WAS OFF, AND I HAD FULL POWER/THROTTLE CONTROL AGAIN. I CONTINUED MY COMMUTE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE COMMUTE HOME WAS UNEVENTFUL TOO. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM IN THE PAST MONTH, AND IS VERY UN-NERVING WHEN IT HAPPENS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AS YOU COAST WHILE LOSING ALL POWER, TRYING TO CHANGE LANES AND AVOID TRAFFIC. I'LL BE TAKING THE CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN THE MORNING. SEARCHING THE NHTSA DATABASE SHOWS LOTS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I THINK IT IS TIME FOR FORD TO HAVE A RECALL.
DRIVING IN FAR LEFT LANE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE CAR HAD BEEN ON FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER SITTING IN PARKING LOT ALL DAY. IT WAS 96 DEGREES. CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE AND SLOW DOWN. I NOTICED THAT THE TOOL LIGHT WAS ON. OBVIOUSLY I HAD ENTERED INTO LIMP MODE AND FOUND A WAY TO CROSS FOUR LANES OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC TO MAKE IT TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. ONCE STOPPED ENGINE LOPED ERRATICALLY AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. ENGINE WAS NON-RESPONSIVE TO PEDAL CHANGES. PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I WAITED 30 SECONDS AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND DROVE HOME (26 MILES) WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED SURGING IN THE ENGINE THIS PAST WEEK. SYMPTOMS POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY; BUT THIS IS SPECULATION AS I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED BY A PROFESSIONAL. I AM AWARE THAT THERE IS A CURRENT INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER. THIS EVENT HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. DRIVING CAN BE INHERENTLY DANGEROUS AND PARTS DO BREAK; BUT, THE FACT THAT THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME WARRANTS AN ADDITIONAL REPORT.
I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AND I HAD JUST TURNED LEFT ON TO [XXX] AND THE CAR START SLOW DOWN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR SLOWED TO ABOUT 2MPH AND THE ENGINE JUST STARTED TO SHAKE BADLY IT WOULDN'T EVEN PULL THE HILL GOING TO MY HOUSE SO PULLED OVER IN A NEIGHBORS YARD AND CALLED MY FATHER HE TOLD ME TO JUST CUT IT OFF AND WAIT A COUPLE MINUTES THEN RETRY IT AND AFTER I WAIT IT STARTED FINE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF SO DROVE IT TO MY HOME ABOUT A MILE AWAY AND IT DID IT AGAIN WHEN I WAS PULLING IN MY DRIVE WAY IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHEN I WAS TURNING ON TO MY ROAD I COULD OF BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER CAR THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOME ONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS SCHEDULED. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND ALL WAS FINE. A MILE OR SO LATER THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND CHECK ENGINE CAME ON. MY MECHANIC PULLED THE CODE P2111 WHICH INDICATES A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND THERE IS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF BUZZ REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND SEVERAL ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN CAUSED. THIS SHOULD CLEARLY BE A RECALL.

I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 71 AND THE CAR FELT AS IF IT WAS LOOSING POWER. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. I WAITED A MINUTE AND STARTED THE VEHICLE. IT STARTED AND I ACCELERATED AND I PULLED ONTO THE INTERSTATE. ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I PULLED OVER, WAITED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I AGAIN PULLED ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE OKAY TO DRIVE ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO JOHN NOLAN AUTO SERVICE. THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE EEC. DIAG. P02111 STORED IN THE COMPUTER FOR THROTTLE BODY STUCK OPEN. THEY REMOVED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSY AND RE-PROGRAMMED THE PCM.
I WAS TRAVELLING ON AN INTERSTATE DOING 70 MILES AN HOUR WHEN MY CAR MADE A BANG AND I LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE. THE SHOP TOLD US IT WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF 3-4 DAYS BEFORE THEY RECEIVED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN BE ABLE TO START THE REPAIRS. *TT
ON MONDAY, AUGUST 19, THE CAR WAS SERVICED - THE WORKS FUEL SAVER PACKAGE. ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 25, I DROVE THE CAR ALL MORNING, BOTH HIGHWAY AND TOWN DRIVING. LATER ON SUNDAY, THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR CLOSE TO 1 HOUR. THEN I DROVE THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO TRAVEL THE NEXT 4 MILES WITH SOME SPUTTERING AND RACING OF THE ENGINE. THE THIRD INCIDENT I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE AGAIN LOST POWER AND THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND SHOULD BECOME A RECALL BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. *TR
THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM IS STUCK OPEN. *TR
WAS DRIVING ALONG AND SUDDENLY, THE CAR JERKED AND FELT LIKE I HAD DOWN SHIFTED, ALTHOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER RESTARTING, CAR DROVE NORMALLY FOR A FEW MILES. SOON, THE SAME THING HAPPENED EXCEPT I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND EVEN WITH MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE PEDAL, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE INCIDENT SEEMS TO MATCH THE "THROTTLE BODY" COMPLAINTS. *TR
I WAS LEAVING WORK DRIVING DOWN COLUMBIA PIKE ROAD IN ARLINGTON, VA. @ 3:30 IN THE AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 22, 2013 HEADING TOWARDS INTERSTATE 395. I HAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND MY 2010 FORD FUSION BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, AS IF IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I LOOKED AT THE DASH BOARD AND SAW AN ILLUMINATED WRENCH AND COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THE STREET LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I MASHED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ANY FORWARD MOTION. THE CAR CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS TO WARN THE OTHER CARS AND FOR MY SAFETY, THAT I WAS HAVING A MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND COASTED DOWN THE HILL LOOKING FOR A SAFE LOCATION TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. AS I COAST DOWN THE HILL, I CONTINUED MASHING THE GAS PEDAL WITH NO RESULTS. I PULLED OVER STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES TRYING TO FIGURE OUT MY NEXT STEP. JUST BY CHANCE I DECIDED TO TRY AND RESTART THE CAR AND THE CAR STARTED UP WITH FORWARD MOTION. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE 395 NEAR THE PENTAGON, I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED MY WIFE WHO LIVES IN ATLANTA AND TOLD HER WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND BY CHANCE THAT EVENING ON THE ATLANTA NEWS OTHER FORD OWNERS WERE DESCRIBING THIS VERY SAME ISSUE (THROTTLE BODY FAILURE) ON THERE FORD VEHICLES. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD MOTORS TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AT NO COST TO THE FORD OWNERS. WE PAID OUR MONEY FOR A QUALITY PRODUCT AND FORD SHOULD STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT AND FIX IT NOT JUST RUN AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM. *TR
