I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND SUDDENLY MY ENGINE DIED WITH NO WARNING AND THE RPMS DROPPED. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO AN ACCIDENT AND LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. PEOPLE DRIVE VERY FAST AND I FEEL LUCKY TO BE UNHURT. I HAVE A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE MY CAR TILL IT IS FIXED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THEY SAY THE CIRCUIT BOARD IS FAULTY AND IS SENDING THE ENGINE THE WRONG SIGNAL. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED . PLEASE ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON DOING ABOUT 60MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST POWER.......ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE AN IDLE (ROUGH IDLE). THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE; THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER AND COULD NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. IT ONLY DECELERATED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OUT OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER AND LIMPED TO THE NEAREST SIDE STREET. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD, AND WHEN I RESTARTED, IT RAN PERFECTLY FINE. A CHECK OF THE WEB AND CONTACT WITH THE FORD DEALER INDICATED THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD. THE DEALER INDICATED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, THAT THE PART HAS BEEN UPGRADED TWICE BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF A SERVICE BULLETIN/RECALL. A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND ABOUT $500 LATER THE CAR IS FINE ITS CLEAR MAY DRIVERS/CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE THIS WAS DANGEROUS. WHEN THE ISSUE HAPPENED I WAS BEING FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY A LARGE TRUCK. I HAD NO WARNING AND THE ONLY AVAILABLE OPTION WAS TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OUT OF LANE AND ONTO THE SHOULDER.. FORTUNATELY I WAS IN THE EXTREME RIGHT LANE AND COULD PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT INCIDENT - IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS INCIDENT HAD I BEEN IN THE CENTER OF LEFT LANE, OR WHERE THERE WAS NO AVAILABLE SHOULDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
WAS TRAVELING ON 696 IN DETROIT AREA AT 70 MPH WHEN MY 2010 FORD FUSION SUDDENLY LOST 'POWER' TO THE POWER TRAIN, IT LOST ALL VELOCITY AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. IT WENT FROM 70 MPH TO 0 MPH IN SECONDS! I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SCARED FOR MY LIFE AS I WAS AT THAT MOMENT WATCHING CARS 'JUMP' LANES TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME DUE MY SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. I THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES MAKING NEAR THE SHOULDER AS THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP! THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT LIST ABILITY TO MOVE. DEALERSHIP CHARGED $600 TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS 2 WEEKS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH 30,000 MILES! WHEN ASKED WHAT HAPPENED THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID SOMETIMES PARTS GO BAD. AFTER READING ABOUT THE ISSUE, IT SOUNDS BIGGER PROBLEM THAN THAT. LET ME KNOW WHAT INFO YOU NEED. *TR
CAR WENT LIMP. I COULD NOT POWER THE VEHICLE VIA THE ACCELERATOR. I COASTED TO A STOP, RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. AFTER SPEAKING TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED I NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED AND WAS ACTUALLY A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER THAN THE ORIGINAL FACTORY PART, AS FORD KNEW IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD REPLACED IT FROM ITS INVENTORY. THEY DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL AND I WAS FORCED TO PAY $540 FOR AN ISSUE THAT HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF FORD OWNERS. *TR
SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY FUSION BRAND NEW, IT LEFT ME STRANDED 6 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH A WRENCH LIGHT ON AND NO ACCELERATION. AFTER A TREMENDOUS TOW BILL THAT FORD WOULD NOT COVER (YES I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY) I HAD MY CAR BROUGHT TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND FOUND TO BE AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. YESTERDAY ON MY WAY TO WORK, IT STARTED DOING THE SPUTTERING AND JERKING AGAIN AND THAT WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL POWER CONTROL TO MY VEHICLE. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINS IT DID CRANK BACK AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 15 MILES BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN AND THIS TIME MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NOW MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IS SAYING ALL I CAN DO IS PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED AGAIN BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT AND IT IS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY A RECURRING PROBLEM CAN'T BE FIXED. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO HAVE A CAR DO THIS WHILE ON A HIGHWAY. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR LIKE I DO. *TR
UPON ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 15 MPH. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AN THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY ROUGHLY AND ON THE VERGE OF STALLING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED 1-2 MINUTES, RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING "NORMALLY". I DON'T RECALL IF ANY OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE STALLING COULD HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME. UNFORTUNATELY THE PART ID ON BACK-ORDER FOR 1-2 MONTHS SO I NEED TO LIVE WITH THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE FOR SOME TIME. THE CAR IS A 2010 FORD FUSION. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER (PURCHASED IN DEC '09) AND THIS IS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS STALLING ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. PUSHING THE GAS DID NOTHING. I HAD TO COAST OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. RESTARTING MY VEHICLE SEEMED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS IN TOWN. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE , THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED AS IF IT MIGHT DIE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN RESTARTED IT. I DROVE ABOUT 1/4 MILE TO MY MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH HIS SCANNER. HE THINKS IT IS THE " DRIVE BY WIRE " OR A SENSOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAULTY THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE LOCAL STORE AND CAME UP TO A LIGHT. AS I STARTED TO TURN RIGHT AND ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT ABOUT 1000 RPM'S. THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT APPEARED. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND GOT NO MORE THEN 100 YARDS WITHOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING AGAIN. I REPEATEDLY DID THIS UNTIL I MANAGED TO GET HOME. A TOW TRUCK TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD SO THEY REPLACED IT. I'M THANKFUL THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN I WAS TURNING LEFT WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 ON STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD CAR FELT LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL BUT IT DID NOT LOST ALL POWER PRESSING ON THE GAS DID NOTHING WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ROAD YELLOW-WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON CAR STARTED MISSING REAL BAD SO HARD THE CAR WAS JUMPING A LITTLE SO I CUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN IT STARTED BACK UP AND RAN OK FOR ABOUT 10 MILES DID THE SAME THING AGAIN-I TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP RENTED A CAR THEY TOLD ME ON FRIDAY AS IT DID NOT HAPPEN WITH THEM AND DID NOT THROW A CODE THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT AGAIN AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO BRING IT BACK ON MONDAY- I PICKED CAR UP DROVE IT SATURDAY ABOUT 40 MILES AND SAME THING AGAIN I DROVE IT ON HOME AS THE FORD PLACE WAS CLOSED I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS -SUNDAY A FRIEND OF MINE DROVE BEHIND ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO SAME DEALERSHIP AND ABOUT 10-12 MILES CAR DID SAME THING (4TH TIME) WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND THEN DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH A NOTE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. SPOKE TO DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND TODAY AND ONCE AGAIN THEY TELL ME AS THE CODE WAS ALERTED AND THEY DROVE IT 20 MILES AND IT WAS FINE -THE CAR IS NOT FINE IT IS DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND OTHERS -I EXPRESSED THIS TO THEM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS TO DRIVE IT AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO COME BACK? I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY OTHER EXAMPLES OF THE SAME PROBLEM -IF THERE ARE A LOT OF CONCERNS WHAT CAN BE DONE TO GET FORD TO ADMIT THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM -I TALKED TO THEM ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY PROBLEMS BUT WAS TOLD IT MAY BE THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD NOT RECOMMEND REPLACING IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW. *TR
LOOSING POWER AND ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN HOWEVER QUITE THE HAZARD ON A CONGESTED FREEWAY WHEN YOU SUDDENLY LOOSE POWER AND SPEED. DIAG IS THAT IT IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. COSTLY REPAIR JUST AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION NOT TO MENTION HIGHWAY HAZARD AND TOWING EXPENSE. *TT
THE ENGINE RPM DROPS TO ZERO AND THE CAR COASTS TO A COMPLETE STOP. SOMETIMES UPON RESTARTING THE ENGINE , THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY. WHEN IT DOES START YOU CAN TRAVEL MAYBE A FEW FEET SOMETIMES A FEW MILES THEN IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BE SERVICED AND THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE THROTTLE BODY.
UPON ACCELERATING FROM STOP AT CITY INTERSECTION TO 30 MPH, CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION. COASTED INTO NEARBY LOT. "WRENCH" LIGHT ON. TURNED CAR OFF. LUCKILY, NO CAR HAD BEEN APPROACHING FROM REAR, AND THIS WAS BEFORE ENTERING RAMP TO BUSY 60 MPH HIGHWAY. CAR RAN, AS IF NORMAL AFTER RE-STARTING, WRENCH LIGHT OUT. DROVE 15 MILES TO DEALER SERVICE SHOP. SHOP PERFORMED FORD'S THROTTLE BODY TEST PROCEDURE AND VERIFIED THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED. SHOP REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY; CAR AT 54,000 MILES. FROM RESEARCHING, SEE THAT THIS A PREVALENT ISSUE WITH INCREASING RATE OF OCCURRENCE (A TOP 5 CAR COMPLAINT OVER PAST 90 DAYS). GIVEN THE APPARENT INCIDENT RATE, INTERMITTENT NATURE, AND ODDS OF OCCURRING WITH SUDDEN SURPRISE IN TRAFFIC MOVING AT SPEED, CLEARLY PRESENTS A HAZARDOUS CONDITION AND COMPROMISES SAFETY IN OTHERWISE NORMAL DRIVING CIRCUMSTANCES. EVIDENTLY PROBLEM OCCURS WITHIN PREDICTABLE RANGE ON ODOMETER, WHICH PROBABLY INDICATES SOME MANUFACTURING DEFECT LEADING TO PREMATURE FAILURE. ALONG WITH THE RESULTING SAFETY RISK EXPOSURE, THIS DOES NOT REASONABLY MEET AUTOMOTIVE CONSUMER EXPECTATIONS FOR THE EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY. AS MORE VEHICLES GO THROUGH THIS MILEAGE RANGE, MAY BECOME EPIDEMIC WITH INCREASING ODDS FOR BAD OUTCOMES. WANTED TO ADD MY EVENT TO THE LIST; MAYBE CAN SAVE SOMEONE ELSE POTENTIAL SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND INJURY. TO THIS POINT, THE CAR SEEMS GOOD OTHERWISE, BUT THIS ITEM NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND BY ALL RIGHTS GET REMEDIED IN A PROACTIVE MANNER.
CAR SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING LOSES ALL POWER. FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL.
WE WERE DRIVING UP A SLIGHT HILL ON A STATE HIGHWAY WITH A 45 MI/HR SPEED LIMIT WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE YELLOW 'DOGBONE' WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO OUR DESTINATION. COMING HOME, THE CAR FAILED AGAIN, AND SO ONCE EACH OF THE NEXT THREE DAYS. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER AND HAD TO WAIT A WEEK FOR A NEW THROTTLE BODY TO BE DELIVERED. *TR
DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY, THE CAR ENGINE QUITS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND STALLS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CARS POWER BRAKES AND STEERING FAIL TO WORK CREATING A VERY UNSAFE EVENT. FORD HAS HAD HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, IF FACT THEY HAVE SEVERAL CARS WAITING FOR PARTS (THROTTLE BODY) TO REPAIR IN THEIR BACK LOT. I HAVE BEEN PROMISED BY FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THE PART WOULD BE SHIPPED FOR OVER THREE OR FOUR WEEKS, BUT THEY HAVE SHIPPED NONE DUE TO THE MANUFACTURE ON BACK ORDER OR PUTTING THE PARTS IN "NEW" CARS TO SELL. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOING THIS TIME. FORD REFUSES TO PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR SINCE MY CAR IS "OUT OF WARRANTY", IN THE MEAN TIME, THEY WILL NOT SHIP THE PART TO REPAIR. IF, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH MULTIPLE MODELS, WHY HAS THIS NOT BE A RECALL BY FORD TO FIX OR FURNISH A REPLACEMENT WHILE THEY CAN'T SEND THE PART TO FIX THE SAFETY PROBLEM. 21 AUG 2013 HEADING HOME FROM WORK AT 5:30PM. I PULLED UP TO THE TRAFFIC LIGHT THAT WAS 10 MILES FROM MY DESTINATION, LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ACCELERATED TO REACH THE ALLOTED SPEED FOR THE ROAD. 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR BEGAN TO SURGE, NO POWER TO THE ENGINE, RPMS WHERE NOT OPERATIONAL, CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN, ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO SAFETY. SAT FOR 10 MINUTES, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON NUMEROUS TIMES THE ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHT BOTH SHUT OFF AND THE CAR RAN FINE ALL THE WAY TO MY DESTINATION. 12 SEPTEMBER 2013, ON MY WAY TO FLORIDA ON INTERSTATE 10 AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH ON A BUSY INTERSTATE THE CAR SURGED VIOLENTLY AND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN LEAVING US TO DANGEROUSLY MOVE ACROSS LANES WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF ROAD TO GET TO SAFETY I SAT FOR 20 MINUTES, USING THE SAME REMEDY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START AND RUN BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. NO SHOPS WHERE OPEN TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, I COULD NOT FIND OUT THE CODE THE VEHICLE WAS ALERTING ME IT HAD. 20 SEPTEMBER 2013 AT 1:30AM COMING BACK FROM FLORIDA NEARED A RED LIGHT TO STOP THE VEHICLE RAN FINE AT SPEEDS OF 60MPH STOPPED AT THE LIGHT AND PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON THE GREEN SIGNAL @ SPEEDS 10MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED, SURGED BADLY AND GAVE NO THROTTLE RESPONSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS, LEAVING US TO GRADUALLY TO STEER INTO AN OPENED LANE. THE CAR STARTED BACK UP A FEW TIMES STILL SURGING AND NOT SHOWING SIGNS OF DRIVING UNTIL I SHUT IT OFF FOR THE LAST TIME.
I PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE (4 CYLINDER - SIX SPEED) IN FEBRUARY 2013. THE VEHICLE HAD 12,100 MILES AT PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 16,900 MILES. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE LITERALLY HAD NO POWER AND THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DECREASED RAPIDLY, WITH NO RESPONSE TO INCREASE POWER VIA GAS PETAL OR DOWNSHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE, WHICH HAD A SHOULDER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. I WAITED ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND STARTED THE VEHICLE, WHICH HESITATED AT FIRST, BUT THEN STARTED. I DROVE THE CAR TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED WITH NO ISSUES. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THAT EVENING FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING WEST BOUND I-275 IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY, NEAR I-71 WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I NARROWLY MISSED BEING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES AS I MOVED TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. I DROVE TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS LIKELY A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS. BASED ON INTERNET SEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND ONE THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY BUT SUGGESTED THE VEHICLE BE OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,733.
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY CAR STALLED. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I HAD TO JUST LET IT COAST AND ATTEMPT TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT VERY ROUGH. AFTER I CUT THE ENGINE OFF, IN A FEW MINUTES IT DID RESTART. BUT BY THIS TIME A DEPUTY HAD SHOWN UP. HE WOULD NOT LET ME TRY TO DRIVE THE CAR, BECAUSE IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED. WHEN THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER NOTHING SHOWED UP. I THEN TOOK MY CAR MY CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. AND WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING THE CAR THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. TURNED CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND IT ACTED FINE FOR THE NEXT 30 MILES. SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO MECHANIC, COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. A FEW DAYS WENT BY WITH NO ISSUES, THEN WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 45-50 MPH, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR DROPPED SPEED IMMEDIATELY TO 5 MPH. I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY PULL OFF IN THE GRASS AS ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS BEHIND ME AND WE WERE GOING AROUND A CURVE. I STARTED CAR AGAIN AND DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES AND IT DID THE SAME THING WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED ABOUT 8 TIMES. OUR MECHANIC HAS LOOKED AT THE CAR TWICE AND COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
EVER SINCE 80,000 MILES ON MY CAR HAS HIT I'VE BEEN HAVING THROTTLE BODY ISSUES. AT FIRST IT WAS ONLY ONCE IN A WHILE WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD MY RPM NEEDLE WOULD BOUCE AND FEEL THE GEARS HAVING TROUBLES CHANGING. AT THAT POINT WHEN THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE MECHANIC LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND DISENGAGE MY CAR NOT ALLOWING ME TO USE THE GAS. ONLY UNTIL RECENTLY THE PROBLEM ONLY INCREASED. I HAD A 30 MINUTE COMMUTE THAT TOOK 1 HOUR AND SINCE THE CAR WOULD DISENGAGE I HAD TO SWERVE AND VEAR TRAFFIC JUST TO PULL OVER INTO A SAFE LOCATION. FORD FUSION 2010 HAS DEFECTIVE ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM/COMPUTER IDENTIFYING THE THROTTLE BODY AS THE NON-FUNCTIONAL PART CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO SELF AND OTHERS. AT 60 MPH FREEWAY SPEED THE CAR GOES INTO AN INSTANT "LOW RPM MODE", CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF FOOT PEDAL CONTROL AND RPM IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO 800. AT THIS POINT THE CAR IS AN UNGUIDED MISSILE LOOKING TO STRIKE SOMETHING. THE POWER STEERING IS NON EXISTENT. MY CAR DID THIS ON 8-19-2013 WITH ONLY 12303 MILES ON IT. THIS HAS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION OF THE THROTTLE BODY SENSING CIRCUITRY BEING DEFECTIVE. IT IS ONLY A LITTLE MORE TIME UNTIL THIS GETS SOMEONE KILLED. AFTER STOPPING WITH A DEAD ENGINE, STARTING AGAIN RESULTS IN VERY ROUGH IDLING AND NO MORE THAN 800 RPM, WHICH IS INCAPABLE OF MOVING THE CAR. SHUTOFF THE IGNITION, CHECK AND HAVE GOOD OIL AND TRANSMISSION AND COOLING LEVELS. STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL, UNTIL ONE BLOCK LATER AT A STOP LIGHT......SAME THING AGAIN. THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION, SLOWED DOWN TO 0 AND BEGAN RUNNING VERY ROUGH. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO USE DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION AND THE BARRICADES ON BOTH SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE ROAD WITH RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC BEEPING THEIR HORNS BEHIND ME. HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT, PAINFULLY CHUGGING MY WAY PAST THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE TO WHERE I COULD FINALLY PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. TURNED OUT TO BE THE "THROTTLE BODY". REVIEWED SYMPTOMS ON LINE - CONSISTENT WITH THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, WHICH APPEARS TO BE A FREQUENTLY REPORTED PROBLEM WITH THE FUSION. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER NEXT DAY - CONFIRMED IT WAS DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE FUSION, AND THEY SEE ONE OR TWO A MONTH AT JUST THIS DEALER. PART HAD BEEN BACK ORDERED FOR SOME TIME, BUT LUCKILY HAD JUST COME IN, SO VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SAME DAY (OUT OF WARRANTY, OF COURSE - 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 40000 MI). I THEN CALLED MY MECHANIC AND WE REPLACED THE BATTERY SINCE IT READ WEAK, AND NO CODES COME UP WHEN PUT ON COMPUTER. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. THE IDLE WAS EXTREMELY ROUGH. THERE WAS A 'WRENCH' INDICATOR LIGHT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. AS I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT WAS VERY ROUGH TO START THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IDLE WAS NORMAL. I DROVE WITHOUT A PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 20 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED IN THE EXACT SAME MANNER. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THIS TIME, THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT WAS ON AND REMAINED ON. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THE THROTTLE-BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. *TR

MY 18 YEAR OLD SON WAS GETTING READY TO GET ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED TO 30 MPH. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AT OUR EXPENSE. THIS ISSUE IS SO COMMON THAT FORD IS HAVING A HARD TIME PRODUCING ENOUGH THROTTLE BODIES. THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND THIS PARTICULAR DEALER HAD A CAR IN THE SHOP THAT HAD WAITED 1 MONTH FOR THIS PART. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. ONE MINUTE LATER AND MY SON WOULD HAVE BEEN DOING 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY. IMAGINE IF HE WAS IN TRAFFIC AND SUDDENLY COULD NOT TRAVEL FASTER THAN 30 MPH. IN ADDITION, SINCE THIS EVENT THE FORD SYNC AND BLUETOOTH FEATURES NO LONGER WORK. *TR
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE- CAR HAD TO BE TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY LOSSES POWER. IT HAS OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. YOU CAN CONTINUE TO PRESS ON THE GAS PETAL BUT THE CAR WILL NOT INCREASE IN SPEED.YOU MUST PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURN THE ENGINE OFF. WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE AGAIN. IT HAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD. THEY HAVE RECALLED THE 2010 ESCAPE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THE 2010 FORD FUSION FOR THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR INJURED.*JS
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, 65 MPH AND MY CAR JUST LOSES POWER. CALLED FORD AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED, TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY, IT'S BEEN 3 WEEKS AND STILL NO PART, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER.
WHILE ACCELERATING HEARD A CLUNK AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THROTTLE. THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR RAN ROUGH. HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON. CAR RAN FINE, LIGHT WENT OFF AND I CONTINUED HOME. NOW IT HAPPENED AGAIN LAST WEEK WHILE GOING 65 ON THE INTERSTATE. SAME SCENARIO. IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND TWICE THIS MORNING. CRUISE WAS SET THE LAST 3 TIMES, GOING 68 ON THE INTERSTATE. LAST TIME IN ADDITION TO THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON EVEN AFTER RESTARTING. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN BAD ON THE INTERSTATE, BUT THERE WASN'T MUCH TRAFFIC. IT IS NOW AT THE SHOP WAITING ON THE VERDICT.
