I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF WITH NO ISSUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH ICON AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKED OFF. I REALIZED THAT THE CAR HAD NO POWER, SO I WENT TO THE SHOULDER AND THE CAR WAS SHUDDERING AS I CAME TO A STOP. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I COULD SEE WRONG IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, CHECKED ALL FLUIDS, ETC. GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. WE WENT A LITTLE WHILE LONGER AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ALL IN ALL, IT HAPPENED PROBABLY 8-10 TIMES IN A LITTLE OVER A 100 MILE TRIP. THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN THE PROBLEM APPEARED, BUT ONLY THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON AFTER RESTARTING.WHEN WE GOT BACK INTO TOWN, I WENT TO AUTO ZONE TO HAVE THE ENGINE CODE READ AND IT WAS P2111 (THROTTLE BODY). AFTER DOING SOME INVESTIGATING, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THESE CARS. I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS VERY EASY TO REPLACE, SO TRIED ORDERING ONE. THE PART THAT MOST SOURCES HAVE LISTED IS AROUND $170. BUT, THAT PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE REPLACEMENT IS $324. I THINK FORD IS GOUGING THE CONSUMERS TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER A RECALL. I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD CAR THAT I DON'T DARE TAKE A TRIP WITH. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON I-77 AT 65 MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS RUNNING BUT THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO MOVE. FORTUNATELY A BRAVE PASSERBY PULLED OFF ONTO THE LEFT MEDIAN, STOPPED TRAFFIC IN THE LEFT LANE, DIRECTED ME TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL & PUSHED MY CAR OVER THE LEFT LANE AND ONTO THE LEFT MEDIAN. A STATE HIGHWAY PATROLMAN, COINCIDENTALLY, CAME BY AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. HE PUSHED ME FARTHER OFF THE ROAD, FEARING A REAR END COLLISION. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE TOW COST OVER $80. IF I HAD NOT PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THIS REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER $700. THIS WAS A TERRIFYING INCIDENT AS THIS IS A HEAVILY TRAVELED STRETCH OF INTERSTATE. I CONSIDER MYSELF VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IF THE GOOD SAMARITAN HADN'T HELPED,I WOULD HAVE HAD TO EITHER STAY IN MY VEHICLE & RISK A REAR END COLLISION OR TRY TO LEAVE MY CAR IN THE MIDDLE LANE, CROSS THE LEFT LANE BY FOOT, AND WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE ALONG THE LEFT MEDIAN. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY DEFECT IN FORD FUSIONS HAS BEEN WELL-DOCUMENTED. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I WORRY FOR MY NEPHEW & SON-IN-LAW WHO BOTH HAVE 2010 FUSIONS. *TR
VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE AT 25-30 MPH, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET, BUT HAD IT OCCURRED ON A MULTI-LANE FREEWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. VEHICLE EVENTUALLY CAME TO A SPEED OF 2-3 MPH. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS ABLE TO REACH 10 MPH WHILE DRIVING FOR SERVICE. LATER THAT SAME DAY, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO RE-CREATE THE SCENARIO. THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ENCOUNTER ROUGH ACCELERATION FROM IDLE, WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE SAME MECHANIC, WHO ENCOUNTERED THE ROUGH ACCELERATION, AND DIAGNOSED AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. PART WAS REPLACED, BUT MECHANIC NOTED IT WAS ON "CRITICAL NATIONWIDE BACK-ORDER" BECAUSE OF WIDE-SPREAD FAILURES OF THIS SAME PART ON FUSIONS AND OTHER FORD MODELS. SITUATION APPEARS TO BE RESOLVED. *TR
MOST RECENTLY, WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION AROUND 25 MPH, MY CAR SLOWED DOWN, BUT DID NOT SHUT OFF, AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. MY RPM'S DROPPED AND MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, SO I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT APPEARED FINE. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN ONE WEEK. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT I NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. THIS CAR IS A BRAND NEW 2010 FORD FUSION WITH 68,000 MILES. I WOULD NOT EXPECT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM/EXPENSE AND AM VERY FRUSTRATED. SIDE NOTE: I HAVE HAD MANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE THE TIME I BOUGHT IT. THE OTHER PROBLEM RELATED TO TRANSMISSION "REVVING" THAT OCCURRED WHEN DECELERATING AROUND 25-40 MPH OR BETWEEN GEARS. I HAD MY VEHICLE IN MULTIPLE TIMES AT A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY COMPLETED COMPUTER RESETS AND RAN OTHER TESTS. THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUED. WE ESCALATED TO THE BBB AND WAS AWARDED A FORD FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER INSPECTION AND HAD A VEHICLE DATA RECORDER INSTALLED. THE ISSUES I DESCRIBED COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AND THE VEHICLE MOVED ONLY A FEW FEET INTO AN INTERSECTION BEFORE FAILING TO ACCELERATE ANY FURTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THREE WEEKS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
THE CAR STALLED OUT COMPLETELY DURING DRIVING, NO POWER WAS LEFT TO DRIVE WITH, LUCKILY IT WAS IN A QUIET STREET!! *TR
DRIVING 40-60MPH, CAR SUDDENLY LOSES THROTTLE CONTROL, WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER IT HAPPENED I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. IT HAS HAPPENED 6 MORE TIMES, AND I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY TODAY. CAR CONTINUES TO IDLE AFTER LOSING SPEED, BUT RUNS ROUGH. TURNING THE CAR OFF, AND BACK ON- AND IT RUNS NORMALLY AGAIN. AFTER WEB SEARCH IT SEEMS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH DEFECTIVE THROTTLES AND NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND THE CAR SUDDENLY JERKED AND THEN JUST STOPPED. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. I SHUT IT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. HOWEVER THE CAR WAS ACTING THE SAME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED (CODE PEWEE). *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN 2 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND PAID FOR IT TO BE FIXED BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. HOPEFULLY IF THERE IS A RECALL, I CAN GET REIMBURSED FOR MY REPAIR BILL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME DOING ABOUT 50 MPH, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND IT FINALLY STOPPED DOWN TO ABOUT 2-3 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY 824.00 TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BEING A PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS NEWS STORIES ABOUT THIS VERY PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND LOST ACCELERATION. THE WRENCH ICON AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO HER DESTINATION. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
DRIVER WAS DRIVING WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND WAS GETTING SLOWER AND SLOWER. WHEN THE DRIVER PULLED OVER THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AND RUNNING ROUGH. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART IT AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STATE BACK UP, BUT IT KEPT STALLING. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TT
DRIVING DOWN I-95 AT 70MPH WHEN THE THROTTLE CUT OUT. AN AMBER WRENCH TROUBLE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. PULLED OF TO THE SIDE OF THE HWY. ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE CUT OUT AGAIN ABOUT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. STARTED UP AGAIN AND LIMPED TO A PARKING LOT. THIS TIME THE AMBER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME FOR 15 MILES. HAD TO MAINTAIN THE ENGINE AT 1500 RPM OR BELOW. AS SOON AS I WENT ABOVE 1500 RPM, ENGINE WOULD CUT OUT OR START CHOKING AND HAD NO THROTTLE. *TR
SITTING AT A LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED IDLING VERY ROUGH - DIPPING BELOW 500 RPM AND SURGING TO ABOUT 1200 RPM. CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHEN I HIT THE GAS. PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, SHUT CAR OFF, RESTARTED AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS. RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THEN PROCEEDED TO IDLE ROUGH AT THE NEXT THREE STOPLIGHTS - THIS TIME NOT SURGING. CAR EVENTUALLY STALLED AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED ALL 3 TIMES. SEEMED TO RUN OK ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT STALLED ONCE MORE AT A LIGHT AFTER GETTING FF THE HIGHWAY. IDLED IT IN DRIVEWAY WHEN I GOT HOME. IDLING VERY ROUGH BUT HASN'T SURGED OR STALLED NOW. *TR
CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE SLOWLY COASTED TO A STOP DESPITE PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, ONLY WORKED AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING WITH THE KEY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ONCE AT ABOUT 45MPH. THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
GASOLINE IS LEAKING THROUGH WELDED SEAM OF GAS TANK. *TR
DRIVING AT 45 MPH, CAR LOSES POWER AND/OR ACCELERATION. WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND PULLED CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND VEHICLE SHAKES TERRIBLY. SHUT CAR OFF AND WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND RESTARTED CAR. WRENCH LIGHT WAS NOT ON AND CAR RAN FINE. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON THREE MORE OCCASION WITHIN A WEEK. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES BUT STATED IT WOULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, EVEN DRIVING THE CAR BY A MECHANIC WITH A DIAGNOSTIC TESTER, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD EVIDENTLY DOES NOT WANT TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEIR IS NO CODE YET. THEIR ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATE AND DRIFTED TO A STOP. THE PROBLEM DID NOT PERSIST AFTER RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS (HIGHWAY DRIVING, 30-60 MINUTE TRIPS). WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR I LEARNED IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY (PART NUMBER 9E926) AND THAT THE PART WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER 5 YEAR/60,000 MILE WARRANTY. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT AFTER LEARNING OTHER FUSIONS AND FORD MODELS WERE HAVING SIMILAR THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS AND AS SUCH THE ISSUE SHOULD LEAD TO A RECALL. *TR
MY WIFE AND SON WERE IN THE CAR AND HAD STOPPED AT A BUSY 4-WAY STOP INTERSECTION. WITH NO PRIOR WARNING THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THE POWER STEERING WAS BARELY WORKING AND THE CAR STALLED JUST PAST THE INTERSECTION. THEY WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT THE MINUTE THE CAR WAS PUT IN DRIVE IT WOULD START SHAKING ETC.... WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO VAN BORTEL FORD IN EAST ROCHESTER NY FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT WE NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY ($465.34) AND A NEW BATTERY ($123.90) ON A 3 YEAR OLD CAR. THEY INDICATED THEY NEW OF A POSSIBLE RECALL AND TOLD US TO HANG ON TO OUR RECEIPT FOR A REFUND IF THE RECALL HAPPENS. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
8/11/13 DRIVING HOME AFTER CHURCH, TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES WHEN WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE LOST POWER. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. COASTED OFF HIGHWAY AND AFTER THREE CRANKING CYCLES IT RESTARTED WITH NO LIGHTS ACTIVATED. DROVE NEXT 15 MILES HOME WITH NO PROBLEM. 8/12/13 DRIVING IN TOWN AFTER APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES THE SAME THING OCCURRED. AFTER THREE CRANKING CYCLES IT RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME WITH NO LIGHTS. PLUGGED SCANNER IN AT HOME AND FOUND CODE ON FREEZE FRAME OF P2111 INDICATING THROTTLE STUCK OPEN. LOOKED ONLINE IN FORD FUSION FORUM AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHERS WITH SAME ISSUE. FORD INDICATES THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACING. I BELIEVE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL AND REPAIR AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC OR LOSING THROTTLE RESPONSE IS NOT A SAFE SITUATION FOR HER TO BE IN, ESPECIALLY IF THIS OCCURS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. *TR

CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING, MY HUSBAND THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS AND WE LET IT GO THEN IT STALLED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 60MPH. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS A LOT ARE DOING THAT, PARTS ON BACKORDER, THERE ARE SO MANY. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET A RECALL. SOMEONE TO DIE.??????????? *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY, I SUDDENLY LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL, REQUIRING ME TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE AMBER "WRENCH" WAS ILLUMINATED. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, AND THEN RESTARTED, WHICH CLEARED THE AMBER "WRENCH" LIGHT, AND THE ENGINE/THROTTLE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. I DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. FORTUNATELY, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING ALONG A CITY STREET HEADING TOWARD A BUSY FREEWAY. WE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED MY WIFE ACCELERATED (PUSHED THE PEDAL) TO GET GOING THE CAR TRAVELED ABOUT 500 FEET. IT LUNGED AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 2 - 3 MPH. WHEN MY WIFE TRIED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE CAR WOULDN'T SPEED UP. WE PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE CURB AS BEST WE COULD. THE CAR WOULDN'T START RIGHT AWAY. A YELLOW WARNING WRENCH LIT UP SHOWING THIS TO BE A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM. THE CAR DID START AFTER ABOUT A 5 MINUTE WAIT. WE DROVE IT HOME AND PARKED IT. I AM AFRAID TO GET IN IT UNTIL IT IS CHECKED OUT BY THE DEALER. THUS, I AM HAVING IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING. I HAVE READ ONLINE OF A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2010 FORD FUSION. HAD WE REACHED THE FREEWAY AND HAD IT STALLED LIKE THIS WE COULD'VE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT INVOLVING OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET. VEHICLE BEGAN DECELERATING AS IF CRUISE CONTROL HAD SHUT OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO RESUME THE CRUISE CONTROL WITH NO SUCCESS, AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO DECELERATE. I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR IN AN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN SPEED, BECAUSE A VEHICLE BEHIND ME ALMOST STRUCK ME IN THE REAR. I HAD TO MANEUVER ONTO THE SHOULDER AND CAME TO A STOP, BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. IT RAN ROUGH, BUT WOULD ACCELERATE AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE MY 85 MILE JOURNEY HOME. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 FORD FUSION 2.5 LITER ENGINE, AS THE THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE. *TR
MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED ON HER WHILE SHE IS IN THE FAST LANE. SHE PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNS THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER THE CAR DIES OUT AGAIN, THIS TIME THE SHOULDERS ARE NON EXISTENT AND SHE IS FORCED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE. MY WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD COULD'VE DIED LAST NIGHT AND IT SEEMS THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RECALL THESE FAULTY VEHICLES OR AT LEAST REPLACE THE FAULTY PARTS THAT THEY PUT IN THEM. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ONE PENNY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE CAR RPM JUMPED AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO SHAKE A BIT. WHEN I TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR GAS NOTHING HAPPENED. DRIVING ALONG AND VEHICLE LOST POWER. PULLED OVER AND TURNED OF VEHICLE. WAITED 1 MINUTE AND STARTED VEHICLE UP AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 15 TIMES SINCE THE FIRST TIME AND MOST OF THEM OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. ALWAYS HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAIT A MINUTE AND START THE VEHICLE BACK UP AND CAN CONTINUE ON. NO PATTERN EXCEPT OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOVE 80 DEGREES. *JB
AFTER ACCELERATING AWAY FROM A STOP-SIGN THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY BEGAN TO RUN EXCEEDINGLY POORLY, AND LOST NEARLY ALL POWER. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN SPEED. AFTER PULLING ONTO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPING I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT ATTEMPTS TO DRIVE IT WOULD RESULT IN STALLING AT ABOUT 5MPH. AFTER ABOUT PERHAPS 50 FEET. THE CAR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE THROTTLE-BODY WAS REPLACED AT MY COST. *TR

CAR LOSES POWER AND STALLS AT CITY OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS (HAVE TO PULL OVER). CAR SHUTS DOWN WHEN IDLING. FORD WAS CONTACTED BY OUR SERVICE CENTER AND WE'RE TOLD WE NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY, BUT THEY ARE ON BACK-ORDER. THERE ARE AT LEAST 5000 ORDERS AHEAD OF US. SERVICE PERSON SAID HE IS NOT AWARE OF A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW'S HOUSE MY CAR ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF NOT ALLOWING ME TO PUSH IN THE GAS AT ALL. THE RPMS WERE AT 1. I CAME TO A ROLLING STOP AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I RESTARTED THE CAR AN DROVE 1/4 MILE FURTHER AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS WITH ME AND FELT IT HAPPEN, HE WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD ME MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A RIDICULOUS COST. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS AND AFTER READING ENDLESS THINGS ABOUT THROTTLE BODIES ON FORD VEHICLES THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I AM SO VERY THANKFUL THAT MY CAR DIDN'T SHUT OFF ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE ENDLESS NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR SUCH A CRITICAL PART OF OUR VEHICLE TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FRIDAY AUGUST 9, 2013 TURNING RIGHT ON GREEN LIGHT AND LOST ALL FORWARD POWER, BUT ENGINE DID NOT STALL CAR WOULD MOVE VERY SLOWLY ON ENGINE IDLE. TURNED KEY OFF THEN CAR STARTED BACK UP RAN OK. SUNDAY AUGUST 11, 2013 DRIVING IN TRAFFIC A 45MPH LOST ALL FORWARD POWER WAS ABLE TO STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING REAR ENDED IN TRAFFIC. MONDAY AUGUST 12, 2013 TURNING LEFT OUT OF DRIVEWAY INTO TRAFFIC LOST ALL FORWARD POWER WAS ABLE TO GET TO CURB BEFORE BEING T-BONED IN TRAFFIC. ON MONDAY AUGUST 12, 2013 HAD THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACED AT A COST OF $488.56. $324.34 FOR A PART THAT SHOULD LAST LONGER THEN 45,000 MILES. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWO TIME IN THE PAST 4 WEEKS. I WAS DRIVING 35-40 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE SLOWED, STARTED SHAKING, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND MY GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BUT IT SEEMED FINE SO I DECIDED TO CONTINUE MY DRIVE TOWARD HOME. 10 MINUTES LATER, AS I WAS GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED SHAKING, SLOWED TO LIMP MODE AND MY GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. I CONTINUED IN LIMP MODE TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PULLED INTO A BUSINESS PARKING LOT. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AS WE DROVE IN THE PARKING LOT TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM - ONCE EVEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. WE USED A CODE SCANNER, BUT NO CODES WERE BEING SET. WE SUSPECT THE THROTTLE BODY BUT LOCAL DEALER HAS NONE AND WE R TOLD IT IS "DEEP BACK ORDERED". NOT ONLY DO I NOW HAVE NO CAR TO DRIVE, BUT IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! *TR
ON MY DRIVE HOME FROM CHICAGO TO PONTIAC MI, I WAS JUST PAST HALFWAY HOME WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY CAR BEGAN BEEPING AT ME AND DISPLAYED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, SERVICE POWER STEERING, SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. SIMULTANEOUSLY I LOST ALL POWER STEERING HOWEVER, ITS NOT THE SAME AS LOSING POWER STEERING ON A NORMAL CAR OR DRIVING AN OLDER VEHICLE THAT WAS NEVER NORMALLY EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEERING. THE WHEEL BECAME LOCKED TO THE RIGHT AND THE CAR DARTED TO THE RIGHT TAKING ME ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE EXPRESSWAY, I FOUGHT BACK PULLING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT AS HARD AS I COULD. SUDDENLY I FELT A POPPING SENSATION AND THE CAR DARTED TO THE LEFT TAKING ME FROM THE RIGHT SHOULDER TO THE LEFT LANE. I AGAIN PULLED THE WHEEL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION BUT THE WHEEL FELT LOCKED, SUDDENLY I FELT THAT FAMILIAR POPPING FEELING AND THE CAR DARTED OFF TO THE SHOULDER AGAIN. THIS SAME PROCESS WAS REPEATED UNTIL I COULD GET THE CAR STOPPED SAFELY. UPON TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND WOULD NEED A NEW RACK AND PINION. I'VE NEVER REPORTED ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE BUT I FELT IT MY CIVIL DUTY SINCE I'M CERTAIN A PERSON OF LESSER STRENGTH, LIKE MY FIANCE' WOULDN'T HAVE ACHIEVED THE SAME OUTCOME. *TR

MY FIANCE WAS DRIVING ON I-26 TO WORK 40 MILES AWAY. THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND STALLING AND LOSING POWER A SEMI BLEW THE HORN AT HER AND SWERVED AROUND HER. SHE PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN SHE STARTED IT BACK UP AND RAN FOR A FEW MORE MILES AT A REDUCED SPEED BUT IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THEY WERE COMMON FOR THIS. ITS SO COMMON THAT THROTTLE BODIES ARE ON BACKORDER. THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN GET THEM IS A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR AROUND $450 INSTALLED. I INVESTIGATED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT FORD REFUSES TO DO A RECALL. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE; FOR SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE THEY DO ONE. IF THAT SEMI HAD NOT BEEN WATCHING, MY FIANCE MAY HAVE BEEN THE ONE. *TR
WHILE ON MY WAY OUT OF TOWN FROM COLUMBIA, MO TO CHICAGO, IL ON 08/09/2013 WHEN THE FIRST THROTTLE PROBLEM STARTED. WHILE MY HUSBAND AND I WERE ON THE ROAD DRIVING 60MPH, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SLOWED ALL THE WAY DOWN WITH MY DOING IT. I HAD TO HURRY OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY IN ORDER TO NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE STATE TROOPER FOR MISSOURI PULLED BEHIND US TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. WE DIDN'T KNOW SO WE LOOKED IN OUR HANDBOOK. THEN WE NOTICED THAT IT MEANS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE AND TO SERVICE IT IF THE PROBLEM PERSIST. DURING THE WEEK OF 09/09/2013-0913/2013 WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. HE TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT IT AND THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED COMPLAINTS BUT NO RECALL ORDER. OUR MECHANIC ESTIMATED THE COST TO FIX THE THROTTLE ISSUE TO BE BETWEEN $500-$600. TODAY 09/18/2013 WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TO GO TO WORK, THE CAR STALLED AND STOPPED ON ME 3 TIMES. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A CONSTANT COMPLAINT WITH OTHER OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND NO RECALL OR REIMBURSEMENT HAS BEEN MADE AS OF YET.
