LEAVING DRIVEWAY VEHICLE APPEARED TO LOOSE ALL POWER FROM THE ENGINE, IT DID NOT STALL, ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO LEAVE BACKED CAR UP INTO DRIVE WAY. CHECKED ALL FLUIDS ENGINE OIL, TRANSMISSION OIL WERE BOTH IN THE APPROPRIATE RANGE. RESTARTING THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT CLEARED, SECOND ATTEMPT TO LEAVE CAR HESITATED AND THEN DID STALL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED AND STAYED ILLUMINATED. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND RETURNED HOME. LET VEHICLE SET ABOUT TEN MINUTES, RESTARTED ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON, DROVE CAR SHORT DISTANCE ABOUT .25 MILES DID NOT STALL OR HESITATE HOWEVER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. *TR
60 MPH ON HIGHWAY. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. LOST POWER. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD (LUCKILY SAFELY). TURNED CAR OFF. RESTARTED AFTER A FEW MINUTES. CONTINUED ABOUT 1/2 MILE. HAPPENED AGAIN. DID SAME THING. CONTINUED ANOTHER 1/2 MILE. DID IT AGAIN. ENGINE SHUTTERED THIS TIME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE AND GET HOME (APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES). HAPPENED ONCE SHORTLY AFTER USED VEHICLE PURCHASE IN 2011 BUT NEVER DID AGAIN UNTIL NOW. INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY PART IS CAUSE. VERY UNSAFE PARTICULARLY IN HIGHWAY DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENS! JUST PURCHASED A SECOND 2011 FORD FUSION SE (2011) FOR OUR TEENAGER. CONCERNED ABOUT OUR CHILD'S SAFETY. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL!. *TR
FORD SHOULD RECALL THE 2010 FORD FUSION. MANY INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED OF IT, THE FUSION, NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING. DOES SOMEONE NEED TO BE HURT OR, WORST BEFORE FORD ADDRESSES THIS WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN A BULLETIN TO REPAIR SHOPS. I LOANED MY FUSION TO MY DAUGHTER AND THIS HAPPENED TO HER AT VERY BUSY INTERSECTIONS IN CHICAGO TWICE IN ONE DAY. IT HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME FOR A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES WITHIN A ONE MONTH PERIOD. I LOOKED IT UP ON LINE AND FOUND OUT, I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE BUT ONE OF MANY. WITH THAT SAID FORD SHOULD TAKE ACTION ON THIS MATTER. *TR
I WAS VERY WORRIED WHEN MY CAR APPEARED TO JUST TURN OFF AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN FROM THE INTERSTATE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE, BAD CONNECTION AND HOPED IT WOULD NEVER DO IT AGAIN. CAR DID START BACK UP WITH NO ISSUES, THAT DAY. UNFORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENED A LOT ON SATURDAY 7/20/13. I PARKED THE CAR AND NEVER DROVE IT SUNDAY. CALLED FORD FIRST THING MONDAY - 7/22/13 AND THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO HELP. I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO A NON DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAD PREVIOUSLY RESEARCHED AND WROTE DOWN THE CODES THAT WOULD POSSIBLY COME UP. AS THE OTHER COMPANY STATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, I THANKFULLY HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER COST BUT I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS IS AROUND $1,000. FORD IS CHARGING ME MY DEDUCTIBLE FOR A KNOWN SAFELY ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED? WHY? WHEN? IM HOPING BY ADDING TO THE LIST WE CAN MAKE SURE THEY TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS BEFORE THEY ISSUE ARISES RATHER THAN AFTER WE ARE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, LIGHT TURNS GREEN I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR HAS NO POWER- I MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET AND IT CRAWLED ALONG AN INCH AT A TIME UNTIL I COULD SAFELY PULL INTO A CHURCH YARD AND TURN IT OFF, I LIFTED THE HOOD TO CHECK EVERYTHING AND DECIDED TO CRANK THE CAR TO SEE IF I COULD HEAR ANYTHING AND IT RAN FINE AND HAS BEEN FINE FOR THE PAST THREE DAYS. AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON OUR RESIDENTIAL STREET A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO WHEN THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING AND STOPPED. AFTER RESTARTING, CAR FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THIS WAS DISMISSED AS AN ANOMALY THE FIRST TIME. ON 8.1 THE CAR DID IT TWICE IN THE 8 MILE TRIP HOME FROM WORK WITH MY SON AND WIFE. TODAY, MY WIFE AND I WERE IN THE CAR WHEN IT DID IT RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT IT (UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS SATURDAY AND THE GARAGE IS CLOSED) THEN WHILE I WAS WAITING IN FRONT OF PANERA A SHORT TIME LATER THE CAR JUST DIED. THERE AGAIN, EACH TIME THE CAR RESTARTED AND RAN NORMALLY. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING, CRUISING OR AT IDLE, THE ENGINE STALLS THEN DIES. WHEN RESTARTING ENGINE STUMBLES BADLY AND DIES. THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC, ACCELERATING INTO INTERSECTIONS, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ETC. MIL IS NOW ON CONSTANTLY. VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY UNUSABLE BECAUSE IT IS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. WE WILL BE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AT OUR OWN EXPENSE, BUT WOULD LIKE FORD TO REIMBURSE US. *TR
TRAFFIC SLOWED SUDDENLY FROM ABOUT 65MPH TO ABOUT 20-30 MPH SO I HAD TO APPLY MY BRAKES VERY SUDDENLY AND HARD TO AVOID REAR ENDING SOMEONE. TRAFFIC KEPT MOVING AND I REGAINED A SPEED OF ABOUT 40 MPH JUST AFTER THIS I FELT THE CAR MAKE A SUDDEN HARD JERK AND CAR STARTED DECELERATING ON IT'S OWN. I TRIED PUSHING THE GAS PETAL, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED IT WOULD NOT SPEED UP IT KEPT LOOSING SPEED AND EVENTUALLY GOT DOWN TO 1 - 2 MPH. I PULLED THE CAR OVER INTO THE EDGE OF THE RIGHT LANE SO I WAS PARTIALLY ON GRASS AND ON PART OF THE ROAD. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND KEPT COASTING BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL IT WAS SHAKING AND JERKING LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL OUT. I STOPPED THE CAR AND LEFT IT RUNNING I WAS AFRAID IF I SHUT THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF THAT IT WOULD NOT RE-START AGAIN. I THEN DROVE THE CAR HOME WITH MY HAZARDS ON DOING 1 TO 5 MPH ON THE WAY HOME FOR ABOUT 2 MILES. THE WRENCH TOOL LIGHT HAD COME ON WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ONCE I GOT THE CAR HOME I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED AND JUST DROVE BACK AND FORTH IN MY DRIVEWAY. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND ON ABOUT 3 TIMES AND THEN IT SEEMED TO BE RUNNING NORMAL AND THE TOOL WRENCH LIGHT SHUT OFF. NOT GOING TO DRIVE IT UNTIL I CAN GET IT TO THE FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING TO PICK MY WIFE UP FROM WORK. THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ANY THROTTLE RESPONSE. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THIS WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN, THE INCIDENT JUST HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. SINCE I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE OF TRAFFIC I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. AFTER A MIN. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND GO ANOTHER 2 MILES WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE ERROR CODE THAT CAME UP WAS P2111. FORD IS LUCKY THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT OR KILLED AS A CAR JUST STOPS WORKING WITH NO WARNING.WHAT IF I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A BUSY ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED? ALL POWER TO NO POWER IN A BLINK OF A EYE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR, THE CAR SHUDDERED AND STALLED, KEPT OSCILLATING AROUND 1000 RPM, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. ALMOST CRASHED TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. CALLED DEALERSHIP FROM SIDE OF THE ROAD, THEY SAID IT'S PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO MY FRIENDS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STALLED ON ME. IT WOULDN'T MOVE WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS IT JUST SLOWED DOWN WHILE MY BATTERY LIGHT WRENCH LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS DEAD. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. LESS THAN A MILE IT DID IT AGAIN ON A BUSY ROAD. I WAS FREAKING OUT AND WORRIED ABOUT MY LIFE ON THE BUSY ROAD. SO I SHUT IT OFF AGAIN AND STARTED AND LUCKY I MADE TO THE FORD SERVICE BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN AND DECIDED TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. THE THROTTLE BODY GAD TO BE REPLACED AND WAS THE REASON WHY MY CAR WAS ACTING UP. I THANK GOD THAT I WASN'T ON THE FREEWAY AROUND RUSH HOUR TIME. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL STARTING SHAKING AS THE CAR LOST POWER AND EVENTUALLY COMPLETELY STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES IT STARTED BUT WE DIDN'T EVEN GET A MILE FURTHER BEFORE THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A LITTLE WRENCH LAMP LIT UP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES WE WERE ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND DRIVE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP SEVERAL MILES AWAY WHERE THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY 4 DAYS LATER. IT TOOK THEM THAT LONG TO GET THE PART IN BECAUSE THEY HAD TROUBLE FINDING ONE SINCE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
AS YOUR DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR JUST LOOSES POWER, 2ND TIME IN TWO YEARS THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT. PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER THIS TIME, FORD WILL NOT HELP OR ASSIST WITH REPAIR IF VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY.. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, CAR LOOSES POWER AT ANY SPEED AND I WAS ALMOST RAN OVER BY A SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON ; ON COMPUTER FROM DIAGNOSTIC PEDAL IDS SELF TEST CODE SHOWS UP IS P2112. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY 2010 FUSION LOST POWER AT 75 MILES PER HOUR. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AT THE TIME OF POWER LOSS. I COASTED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERESTED ONCE I WAS STOPPED THE CAR WAS JERKING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ABOUT 3 MINUTES LATER I TURNED IT BACK ON. IT STARTED AND I WAS ABOUT A MILE FROM MY HOUSE WHEN IT DID IT AGAIN AT THE SPEED OF 40. I REPEATED THE FIRST STEP. I TOOK THE CAR INTO GET IT DIAGNOSED AND BECAUSE MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE BAD GAS .. THEN TODAY AUG 2 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 75 AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF AND IT STARTED BACK EXCEPT THIS TIME I DID NOT EVEN GO A MILE AND IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS TIME MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I JUST LEFT A PLACE WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY PART.. *TR
I WAS AT A STOP AT A RAILROAD CROSSING. UPON APPLYING THE GAS TO GO, I STARTED TO LOOSE ALL POWER WITH THE ENGINE STARTING TO SHAKE, AND THE CAR SEEMING TO STALL, BUT LIMPING ALONG. NOTHING HAPPENED AS I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A PARKING LOT. THE DASHBOARD HAD A WRENCH LIGHT ON. THE CAR IN THE ENGINE AREA WAS STILL VIBRATING AND SHAKING, WITH NO POWER BUT TO LIMP ALONG. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. WAITING A FEW MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED UP, BUT SHAKING AN SPUTTERING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO MY JOB WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEM. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. WHEN GOING HOME, I DROVE AT 30 MILES PER HOUR. THE CAR LOST ALL POWER TWO MORE TIMES, STALLING AND LIMPING ALONG WITH THE WRENCH LITE ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT LIMPED TO MY HOME. AT THIS POINT, CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THE NEXT DAY, AAA TOWED CAR FROM MY DRIVEWAY TO FORD DEALER. I MENTIONED THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM AND DEALER TOLD ME IT WOULD HAVE TO HAPPEN WHEN THEY TEST DRIVE IN ORDER TO HAVE PART CHANGED. THEY DID GIVE ME A LOANER AND REPORTED TO ME THAT CAR STALLED OUT AND LOST POWER ON THEIR TEST DRIVE. THROTTLE BODY PART WAS CHANGED AND CAR HAS PERFORMED WELL SINCE THAT TIME. $550 BILL AT FORD. THIS CAR WAS A DEATH TRAP TO DRIVE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY DEFECT. *TR
THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR LOSES ITS ACCELERATION COMPLETELY. AS I PULL OVER THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BRAKE, THE CAR WILL START SHAKING. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL DISAPPEAR AFTER THAT AND IT'LL START DRIVING NORMALLY AGAIN. FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY THREE YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME. ONE UNHAPPY MOMMA!!!! THE CODE IT READ P2111 WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS A DEFECT IN THE THROTTLE BODY. HOPE THEY ARE RIGHT. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE HAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WILL DRIVING. THE CAR MUST BE SAFELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF, AND THEN RESTARTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME THIS OCCURS, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SOME OF THE TIME. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS DUE TO THE DRIVING CONDITIONS THAT MAY BE EVIDENT AT THE TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURS. THE LOCAL FORD GARAGE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE NEED FOR THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT, PART #DS7Z-9E926-A. *TR
I WAS AT A LEFT TURN LIGHT AND WHEN I DROVE THROUGH THE LIGHT TO MAKE THE LEFT TURN MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME OUT. WHEN I WAS HITTING THE GAS IT DIDN'T GO SO I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAITED A WHILE AND TURNED IT ON AND IT STARTED UP FINE. SO I STARTED DRIVING A LITTLE MORE AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A WHILE AND I TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME SINCE I LIVED CLOSE BY. THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNED OFF BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. I GOT UP THAT MORNING AND DROVE IT TO A NEIGHBORHOOD SHOP AND THEY SAID THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH IT WAS A SECURITY ERROR AND THAT IT WAS FINE. I PICKED IT UP FROM THE SHOP AND I WAS ABLE TO GET DOWN THE STREET WHEN MY CAR CUT OFF. RADIO AND ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ON BUT THE CAR ITSELF CUT OFF AND THE BATTERY LIGHT SHOWED UP. I WAS ABLE TO AGAIN DRIVE IT HOME. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY SAID IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH WOULD COST ABOUT 600 - 800 DOLLARS TO FIX. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE THIS IS HAPPENING TO WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE AND THIS IS A THREE YEAR OLD CAR. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR BOTH TIMES. *TR
THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE ON VEHICLE. CAUSES VEHICLE TO NOT GET ANY GAS AND SHUTS DOWN TO AN IDLE WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATING. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS KNOWN ISSUE. DRIVING IN DALLAS I FOUND THIS TO BE VERY UNSAFE WITH SO MUCH TRAFFIC. COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 60MPH THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON TURNED THE CAR OFF RESTARTED AND THE WRENCH WAS GONE AND THE CAR RAN FINE. IT HAS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES THE LAST TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ABLE TO PULL CODE P2111 THROTTLE OPEN, THE CAR WAS IN LIMP MODE. FORD WONT FIX IT. NEW THROTTLE BODY PUT ON TODAY. *TR
ON MORE THAT ONE RECENT OCCASION WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROADS, THE CAR'S ENGINE WOULD START IDLING POORLY, AND THE CAR WOULD START COASTING AND NOT RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, WAIT 30 SECONDS AND RESTART THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR ON 7/24/13, AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE. FROM SEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE IS VERY COMMON, AS MANY OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AT AROUND THE 30-35K MILE MARK OF OWNERSHIP. VEHICLE KEEPS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. FIRST HAPPENED ON JULY 18TH, SECOND JULY 19TH. JUST STARTED AGAIN ON JULY 31 & CONTINUES. I WAS TOLD ITS MY THROTTLE. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY OCCASIONS, FROM DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC TO DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR SOME TIME, A WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON ON THE DASHBOARD, THERE IS NO FUEL GOING TO THE CAR AND WHEN I PULL TO THE SIDE, THE CAR STUTTERS LIKE IT WANTS TO GO AND THEN STOPS AGAIN. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND STARTING IT AGAIN, THE CAR DRIVES LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING AND FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THE PART. I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO DIE IN AN ACCIDENT FOR THEM TO TAKE ACTION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SIDE STREET GOING ABOUT 25 MPH WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER, WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS THE CAR SHOOK AND STALLED OUT. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND MANAGED TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET BEFORE IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WERE ON WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME "IT'S PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY" THEY TOLD ME THE REPAIRS COULD TAKE MONTHS BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FUSION. PREVIOUS TO THIS INCIDENT MY CAR HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING IMPROPERLY AND WOULD STALL OUT WHILE STOPPED. DRIVING ON 295 N BOUND AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE ENGINE JUST STALLED...THE LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT. I TRIED GIVING IT GAS BUT I COULD NOT GET IT TO GO SO I HAD TO FIGHT THE TRAFFIC TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT IT OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO START IT AND ON THE SECOND TRY IT DID BUT FELT LIKE IT WAS RUNNING ON 2 CYLINDERS.SO I LET IT SPUTTER ALONG THE SHOULDER TO THE EXIT WHERE I SHUT IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN TRIED IT AGAIN, IT STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A ADVANCED AUTO PARTS STORE WHERE THEY PLUGGED IN THE TESTER AND GOT A THROTTLE ACTUATOR ERROR CODE.I GOT IT STARTED AND IT DROVE OK TILL I GOT HOME BUT HAVEN'T USED IT YET. THIS CAR DID HAVE A PROBLEM A FEW WEEKS AGO BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A GLITCH BECAUSE IT JUST RAN ROUGH AND THEN WENT BACK TO NORMAL. NOW I'M READING ABOUT OTHER FUSIONS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE CAR LOST POWER SUDDENLY. WE HAD TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. WE HAD TO LEAVE THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. I QUICKLY WENT FROM 70 MPH TO 50 MPH AND CONTINUED TO SLOW. THE VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND MY RPMS DROPPED BELOW 500. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND STARTED IT. THE CAR STARTED AND IDLED JUST FINE. I REVVED THE ENGINE A FEW TIMES. RPMS STAYED IN THE NORMAL RANGE. I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND STARTED TO MOVE. IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE RPMS DROPPED AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED AND IT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WRENCH ICON CAME ON AND LOST ACCELERATION. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND WANTED TO STALL. I SHUT OFF THE CAR FOR A MIN AND STARTED IT BACK UP. IT HESITATED BUT IT DID FINALLY START UP. I DROVE 2 MILES AND IT DID IT AGAIN. SINCE THEN THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND AT VARIED SPEEDS. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I HAD IT TESTED AND THE CODE WAS P2111 TAC STUCK OPEN. THE PROBLEM IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS. *TR

THROTTLE BODY QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH. ENGINE DROPPED TO IDLE AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AT INSTRUMENT PANEL. COASTED ACROSS 5 LANES OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC TO REACH THE ROAD SHOULDER. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND TURNING IT BACK ON THE THROTTLE STARTED WORKING AGAIN. MY CAR STALLED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. TOOK IT TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. SHOP WAS UNABLE TO OBTAIN PART #DS7Z*9E926*D THROTTLE BODY FROM 11 DEALERSHIPS UNTIL MID AUGUST. I WAS CONCERNED THAT ANY REPLACEMENT PART WE WOULD FIND WOULD ALSO BE DEFECTIVE AND I DIDN'T WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR TWICE. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD 8 PARTS IN STOCK, BUT THEY WERE "SERVICE ONLY" PARTS FOR THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I SAID I ALREADY HAD TIME AND LABOR INVESTED AT THE SHOP AND DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE TO PAY TWICE. I ALSO ASKED IF THE PARTS THEY HAD IN STOCK WERE "GOOD PARTS" AND ASKED WHY THEY WERE ON BACKORDER ALMOST A MONTH. NOT HAVING MY CAR REPAIRED WAS NOT AN OPTION AND I MADE THAT CLEAR TO THE DEALERSHIP PARTS DEPARTMENT AS WELL AS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY FINALLY AGREED TO SELL ME THE PART AND ASSURED ME THAT THE PARTS THEY HAD IN STOCK WERE "GOOD PARTS". I KEPT ALL OF MY PAPERWORK AS WELL AS THE DEFECTIVE PART. SEEMS LIKE A STRONG CANDIDATE FOR A RECALL IF 11 DEALERSHIPS WERE UNWILLING TO SELL THIS PART TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOPS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION ON HIGHWAY 31, IT WAS VERY CLOUDY AND HARD RAIN WAS COMING DOWN FAST. I REACHED 40 MILES AN HOUR AFTER ALMOST PUSHING MY FOOT SO HARD ON THE PEDDLE. WENT TO START CAR IN DRIVEWAY AND IT STARTED IN LIMP MODE. LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT AND IT STARTED FINE AND RAN OKAY FOR ANOTHER 9 DAYS. THEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN RURAL HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AGAIN. PULLED OVER, WAITED, RESTARTED, HOPING TO GET TO THE NEXT CITY. HOWEVER, AFTER ANOTHER 7 OR 8 MILES, IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AGAIN AND I PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING LOT. HAD IT TOWED BACK TO DEAL. FORD SERVICE TOLD ME THIS WAS THE THIRD INSTANCE THEY HAD IN THE LAST WEEK OR TWO, THAT FORD IS NOT PRODUCING THESE PARTS (FOR A KNOWN DEFECT!), AND THAT IT TOOK THEM EIGHT DAYS TO GET THE LAST PART. BESIDES THIS BEING A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE THAT PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE AS WELL. FORD NEEDS TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED! AGAIN I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHUT DOWN (STILL GOT THE RATTLE AND WRENCH LIGHT) AND RESTARTED. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS THING TO HAPPEN ESPECIALLY ON THE EXPRESSWAY SINCE YOU CAN POSSIBLY BE REAR ENDED IN ADDITION TO NOT HAVING THE ABILITY TO PULL OVER. I SPOKE WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR NAMED [XXX], WHO THROUGH MY DESCRIPTION OF THE SYMPTOMS SAID THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY HAD JUST FIXED THREE FUSIONS THAT VERY DAY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HE SAID IT IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THE 2010 FUSION MODEL AND THEY FIX MANY OF THESE. SEEMS TO ME THAT FORD SHOULD REALIZE THEIR IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS PART AND IT IS UNSAFE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED PART IN MY OPINION AS IT IS NOW GOING TO COST ME BETWEEN 400-700 DOLLARS TO REPAIR.
