I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH WITHOUT WARNING AND ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WAS LOST. I PULLED TO THE SIDE AND RESTARTED THE CAR. ALL LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY FOR LESS THAN A 1/2 MILE WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE WRENCH LIGHT REAPPEARED, THROTTLE WAS LOST AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AS IT SHOWED DOWN. PULLED OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN. SAME THING HAPPENED JUST A FEW YARDS DOWN THE ROAD, EXCEPT NOW THE CEL LIT UP AS WELL. PULLED TO THE SIDE AGAIN--CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY AS IT SLOWED. HAD TO GET TOWED TO THE DEALER. HAD THE FREEWAY BEEN BUSIER I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. *TR
I HAD JUST LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 1 MILE THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR DECELERATED. I IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN A TEST AND SAID THAT IT PASSED, BUT IT MY BE THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY TOLD ME TO TRY AGAIN AND IF I HAVE PROBLEMS TO CALL. I LEFT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I CALLED THE SERVICE ASSOCIATE AND THEY HAD ME BRING IT BACK. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. *TR
AFTER STOPPING AT BANK, CAR WENT INTO CREEP MODE AFTER LESS THAN A BLOCK. RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME. NINE DAYS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. DROVE TO MECHANIC NEXT DAY OK. NEEDS THROTTLE BODY FOR $440.00. FORD APPARENTLY NOT WILLING TO FIX ALTHOUGH THEY'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS. REPLACED IGNITION COIL A FEW WEEKS EARLIER FOR $330.00. SAME MO WITH FORD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. IT WAS SUDDEN ENOUGH WHERE MY HEAD SMACKED THE STEERING WHEEL. I LATER CAME TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY ON THE CAR. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN A SHOP FOR 2 WEEKS NOW AND THE MECHANICS ARE TELLING ME THAT FORD IS HAVING MASSIVE ISSUES WITH THE PART AND ITS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER FOR UP TO 6 WEEKS. FORD EXECUTIVES SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR SWEEPING THIS UNDER THE RUG AND NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. THIS ALMOST CAUSE A MASSIVE ACCIDENT. *TR
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE DECELERATED AND WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH NO WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURN ENGINE OFF THEN BACK ON CAR WAS RUNNING OK THEN. THIS SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN ON 8 /12/13.I HAVE SEEN WHERE THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION INTO FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ON THIS MODEL.THE DESCRIPTION FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ IS THE EXACT SAME AS MY INCIDENTS. I WAS TRAVELING AT AROUND 60 MPH BOTH TIMES , THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED THANK YOU.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED IMMEDIATE, SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER (ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THROTTLE DEPRESSION AND REMAINED AT IDLE) WITH ASSOCIATED YELLOW MAINTENANCE WRENCH ILLUMINATED ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. DRIVER HAD TO EXECUTE A DANGEROUS DECELERATING 4 LANE CHANGE TO STOP VEHICLE ON A LIMITED AND NARROW SHOULDER. AFTER RESTARTING VEHICLE, THE LIGHT DISAPPEARED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN BEFORE SAME MECHANICAL FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER 1 MILE. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 10 MILES TO NEAREST FORD DEALER AT SLOW SPEEDS AND BACK ROADS. POWER LOSS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 8 MORE TIMES WHILE ENROUTE TO DEALER. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND INSIDIOUS MODE OF FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING. COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A FATAL CRASH IF IT HAD OCCURRED DURING A HIGHWAY MERGE OR CROSSING TRAFFIC SITUATION. CONSPICUOUSLY CONVENIENT TIMING OF FAILURE 2 MONTHS AND 1000 MILES AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION. AFTER DIALOGUE WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, FORD DID NOT REIMBURSE OR COVER ANY OF REPAIR COSTS. *TR
THREE TIMES, THE CAR HESITATED AND NEARLY STALLED, THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY. IT WAS STOPPED AND RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN HOME BUT TRAFFIC WAS DISRUPTED ON A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE AND VERY SCARY. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM AND WAS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN HOME. UNFORTUNATELY PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED AND WE ARE WITHOUT A VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY SAID IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AS IS. *TR
I OWN A FORD FUSION 2010. THE CAR RAN GREAT UNTIL IT JUST UNEXPECTEDLY STOP WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON I-95 WITH MY SON [XXX]. I WAS DRIVING AT 60 MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST STOP ACCELERATING WHEN I HIT THE GAS. I INSTINCTIVELY HIT MY FLASHERS ON AND STARTED HONKING MY HORN TO ALERT OTHER CARS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE SHOULDER TO PULL ONTO. AFTER ABOUT 100 YARDS OF DRIVING AT ABOUT 5 MPH I FINALLY PULLED OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN I STOPPED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF IN ORDER TO STOP THE SHAKING. THE EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIFYING ENOUGH THAT I WENT HOME TO DO RESEARCH. THE INFORMATION I FOUND FLOORED ME. THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS ON FORD FUSION 2010 OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR JUST ABRUPTLY SHUTS DOWN BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE PART. THE PART IS THE THROTTLE BODY. IT IS MIND BOGGLING THAT FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THIS CAR. THEY ARE PUTTING MONEY AHEAD OF THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. I AM APPALLED THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I DEMAND THAT FORD MAKES THIS RIGHT BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER I PULLED OVER TURNED THE CAR OFF. UPON RESTARTING IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, I PRECEDED TO WORK. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND HAD GONE APPROX 1-1/2 - 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTED TO HESITATE AND WOULD BARELY MOVE. I PULLED OVER ON A SIDE ROAD AND TURNED MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT SOUNDED FINE I TURNED AROUND AND PULLED ONTO MAIN ROAD AGAIN AND AGAIN THE CAR STARTED PUTTERING AND WOULD BARELY MOVE I MANAGED TO GET CAR OFF THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO TASCA FORD WHERE THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT HAS BEEN A WEEK NOW AND I STILL DON'T HAVE MY CAR AND THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHEN THE NEW PART WILL COME IN BECAUSE IT IS BEING MANUFACTURED? THEY ARE ALSO STATING THEY HAVE 18 - 20 CARS WAITING FOR THIS SAME PART. *TR
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. TOOK IN TO A FORD DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST, AND THE STEERING GEAR HAD GONE BAD. HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE RPM, SPEEDO, TEMP GAUGES QUIT READING. THE CHIMES AND WARNINGS ALL WENT OFF AND LIGHTED UP AND STAY ON. ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED CAR NEVER LOST POWER BUT LOST ALL WORKING GAUGES 4 WAYS FLASHED, AIR BAG FOR PASSENGER SIDE FLASHED. AFTER TURNING CAR OFF AND LETTING IT SIT OVER NIGHT STARTED IT UP DROVE 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND IT STARTED WITH THE CHIMES AND ALL DASH LIGHT WARNINGS CAME BACK UP SHOWING 0 MILES AND FLASHING ALL DIFFERENT WARNING FLASHED IN THE WARNING DISPLAY. I DID VIDEO IT ON MY PHONE SO I COULD SHOW THE FORD GARAGE. *TR
LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. ENGINE WOULD ONLY IDLE, VERY ROUGH. WRENCH SYMBOL LIT. SHUT CAR OFF, OPENED/CLOSED DOOR AND CAR WAS OK UNTIL NEXT INCIDENT. FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WHILE DRIVING HOME ON FREEWAY AND AT SLOWER SPEED. DIAGNOSTIC AT THE DEALER WAS A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. *TR
AFTER ENTERING THE HIGHWAY GOING DOWN AN ONRAMP, REACHED ABOUT 55 MPH AND SUDDENLY POWER CUT OUT. CAR WAS IN DRIVE, YET I COULD REV ENGINE LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. ORANGE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL OVER TO SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND WARNING LIGHT WAS GONE. THE NEXT DAY ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY REPEATED ALTHOUGH NOW WAS NO LONGER IN NEUTRAL, POWER DIED. AGAIN ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART. THIS MORNING (3RD TIME IN 4 DAYS) THE CAR REPEATED THE PROBLEM TURNING INTO A STORE STALLING AT ABOUT 20 MPH. *TR
I WAS ENTERING THE FREEWAY AND ACCELERATED TO MERGE WHEN THE CAR LURCHED AND DIED. I TRIED TO START IT AND FINALLY DID AFTER 3 TRIES. IT WOULD NOT TAKE GAS AND ONLY JUMPED FORWARD SLOWLY-THE WRENCH INDICATOR CAME ON-LUCKY FOR ME A POLICE CAR PULLED UP BEHIND ME AND PROTECTED ME FROM CARS COMING UP BEHIND ME.I CALLED A WRECKER TO TAKE THE CAR HOME. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE FORD HOUSE THE NEXT DAY-THEY INSPECTED IT AND TOLD ME THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY-HAD TO BE ORDERED. I GOT ONLINE LATER AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS SAME THING HAD HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF OTHER DRIVERS. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN PUT ON A RECALL LIST BECAUSE OF ALL THE INCIDENTS? *TR
FAULTY THROTTLE BODY HAS CAUSED SEVERAL ENGINE STALL EVENTS ON AND OFF HIGHWAY. CAR IN SHOP AWAITING REPLACEMENT PART. FORD SERVICE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN DEFECT WITHOUT A RECALL YET ANNOUNCED. THEY ADVISED NOT DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN UNTIL PART IS REPLACED AS THAT WOULD BE "VERY DANGEROUS." WHY WOULD THIS NOT BE A RECALL YET? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP AND THE WRENCH WARNING ICON WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,300.
FIRST INCIDENT WAS VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ENTERING A INTERSECTION FROM A STOP SIGN. STALLED HALF WAY INTO INTERSECTION AND HAD A NEAR MISS OF BEING HIT DO TO LOSS OF POWER AND OTHER TRAFFIC NOT HAVING TO STOP IN THEIR DIRECTION. CAR WAS DIESELING WHEN IT CAME TO A STOP ,HAD TO BE SHUT OFF, THEN RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS OR INDICATOR LIGHTS AFTERWARD. THIS SAME STALLING HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 60 MPH + AND ON SIDE ROADS AT 30 MPH. FROM STOPS TO FULL POWER GOING UP HILLS OR TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. NO POWER TO MOVE CAR EXIST ONCE IT HAS HAPPENED ,YOU MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP , SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES OVER LAST FEW WEEKS.TOOK TO DEALER TODAY AND WAS TOLD THROTTLE BODY IS SHOWING A FAULT AND PARTS CAN ONLY BE RECEIVED BY OVERNIGHT DELIVERY "AS THIS PART IS IN VERY HIGH DEMAND AND THEY CAN'T ORDER ONE IN AND GET IT BY REGULAR DELIVERY". *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, MY 2010 FORD FUSION BEGAN TO LOSE ACCELERATION AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ALREADY IN THE FAR RIGHT TRAVEL LANE SO I COULD PUT ON MY FLASHERS AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. I CUT THE ENGINE AND WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY WORKPLACE. BASED UPON MY PRELIMINARY RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT HAS SERIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE INVESTIGATION AND STUDY OF THIS ISSUE WITH FORD TO INSTITUTE A RECALL TO RESOLVE SUCH ISSUES. *TR

GOING ONLINE TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS I SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL THOUSAND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE IN THIS MODEL. THE SEVERITY OF THIS TYPE OF BREAKDOWN (SOME PEOPLE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY) AND WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER MAKES THIS A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE TO BE DEALT WITH. I WAS LUCKY, BUT AM STILL OUT $500. *TR
DRIVING CAR APPROX. 50 TO 60 MILES AN HOUR, ENGINE JUST STOPS, NO ACCELERATOR PEDAL PRESSURE. WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON(FORD OWNERS MANUAL SHOWS IT TO BE THROTTLE BODY/DRIVE-TRAIN). THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUS TO YESTERDAY'S OCCURRENCE. WE BROUGHT THE CAR FROM DRIVETIME AND TOOK IT TO THEIR MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE COULD NOT FIND A STORED CODE, WAS I DO NOT BELIEVE TO BE TRUE. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE CONCERNING SOME INCIDENT, WE NOTICED THAT OWNERS OF THE SAME MODEL CAR HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS WHILE TRAVELING AND THE CAR JUST QUITS. APPARENTLY FORD KNOWS ABOUT BECAUSE A CAR A LOCAL DEALER AND THE PARTS DEPARTMENT HAS PARTS ON BACK ORDER. YESTERDAY, 7/10 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE WAS P2112(THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED). SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHILE RESUMING TRAVEL AFTER STOPPING AT A STOPLIGHT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE. AS THERE WAS A LINE OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME, I QUICKLY TURNED ON MY 4-WAY FLASHERS AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND WAITING FOR A FEW MINUTES, I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR. THE ENGINE RESTARTED NORMALLY AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED WITH FULL THROTTLE FUNCTIONALLY. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO ME THREE MORE TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND THAT FORD IS NOT ISSUING A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE MECHANIC RESET THE CODE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TRAVELING IN CENTER LANE OF FIVE LANE EXPRESSWAY, I-85 IN ATLANTA. CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTING SHAKING, DRIFTED OVER THROUGH TRAFFIC TO CURB AND SHUT OFF. THERE WERE MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ON BUT WHEN I CRANKED IT UP IT RAN OK AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MILES THEN DID IT AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES ON MY 38 MILE COMMUTE HOME. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES IN A 24 MILE DRIVE (TO AND FROM WORK) AUTO ZONE SAYS IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY STICKING. I WENT TO CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND MY CAR IS NOT THE ONLY 2010 FUSION EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE I FEEL FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE THROTTLE BODY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION AT AROUND 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. LUCKILY, I MANAGED TO GET MY VEHICLE SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND WHEN I PLACED IT IN PARK, THE CAR STARTED TO SHUDDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND WHEN I RE-STARTED IT, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS GONE AND THE CAR WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. I AM VERY LUCKY THAT THE STALL DID NOT OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY AT A FASTER SPEED. A CO-WORKER OF MINE ALSO HAS A 2010 FORD FUSION AND HAD THIS SAME ISSUE A FEW MONTHS AGO. *TR
THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL ON THE FREEWAY, SO I HAD TO DRIVE IT OFF THE FREEWAY AFTER IT HAD TURNED OFF TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, IT WENT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AS I LUCKILY VEERED TO THE SIDE AND NO ONE WAS HURT. I TOOK IT TO BE SERVICED. IT TURNS OUT THERE WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE CONTROL: THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR WAS STUCK CLOSED (P2111), AND ALSO WOULD GET STUCK OPEN (P2112). THIS MUST HAVE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. THE AUTO SERVICE CENTER RAN THE TESTS AND TESTED MY VEHICLE AFTER REPLACING THAT THROTTLE ASSEMBLY AND NOW MY CAR RUNS BACK TO NORMAL. ALSO, MY REAR PARKING AID BACK UP TONE IS OUT OF ORDER. SOMETIMES IT JUST BEEPS CONSTANTLY AND THERE IS NOTHING BEHIND THE VEHICLE. IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING IN ORDER, BUT ONCE IN A WHILE IT DOES THAT. *TR
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, WRENCH LIGHT CAME OUT, CAR DIED DOWN TO 900 RPM AND FLUCTUATED ERRATICALLY WITH NO GAS PEDAL RESPONSE AT ALL. DODGED SEVERAL CARS TRYING TO AVOID REAR END COLLISION TO PULL OFF SIDE OF ROAD TO TURN OFF AND TURN CAR BACK ON, PROBLEM THEN WENT AWAY AND HAPPENED AGAIN ROUGHLY 20 MILES AGAIN DOWN THE HIGHWAY. CAR WILL NOT DRIVE PAST 20 MILES WITHOUT HAVING AN ISSUE. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING APPROX 45 MPH. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE THROTTLE RESPONSE AND/OR STALL ALL TOGETHER. ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED ONCE ALMOST BY A SEMI-TRUCK. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH ON THE SYMPTOMS CONCERNING MY VEHICLE, AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS DUE TO A FAILING THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON QUITE A LOT OF FORD FUSIONS BUILT AT LEAST BETWEEN 2006 AND 2011. I AM QUITE SURPRISED THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES' PARTS, THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE INTERIOR FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FRACTURED AND FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE CONTACT HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN THE DOOR USING THE EXTERIOR DOOR LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT PURCHASED AND INSTALLED A NEW DOOR LATCH; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER ON THE SAME INTERIOR DOOR LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THE MORNING OF JULY 8, 2013 I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE (WITH CONSTRUCTION) WHEN MY CAR STALLED. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND THE THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION WRENCH FLASHING. I AT LEAST HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GO ABOUT 100 FEET TO WHERE THERE WAS A SHOULDER THAT THEY WERE NOT DOING CONSTRUCTION ON. I ENDED UP SHUTTING MY CAR OFF AND WAITING A FEW SECONDS. I THEN TURNED MY CAR BACK ON TO SEE IF IT STILL HAD THE PROBLEM. EVERYTHING APPEARED TO BE WORKING FINE. I ENDED UP GETTING BACK ON THE INTERSTATE AND ABOUT 5 MILES DOWN IT HAPPEN TO DO THE SAME THING. AT THIS POINT I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY ' SHUT MY CAR OFF AGAIN. THIS TIME I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL FLASHING. I WAS ABOUT ONE MILE FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP. I TOOK IT THERE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THROTTLE BODY. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND THE DEALER SHIP WILL NOT RECEIVE THE PART FOR 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS. THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE THE DAYS THAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE THEM TO INSTALL THE PART. I AM NERVOUS TO DRIVE MY CAR EVEN AFTER THIS PART IS FIXED. I WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND COULD OF EASILY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH ALL THE CONSTRUCTION THAT WAS GOING AROUND. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND DIED, EXCEPT THE POWER WAS STILL ON. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND HAD TO PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND PULL OVER, ALTHOUGH THIS HWY DOESN'T HAVE A SHOULDER, JUST A GRASS MEDIAN. THERE IS A CURB SO I WAS STILL FORCED TO JUST COME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HWY BUT LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IN THE LEFT LANE. AS THE CAR COMES TO A STOP, IT SHAKES. I HAVE TO TURN POWER OFF BY TURNING KEY, THEN TURN KEY TO START CAR AGAIN. IT TURNS OVER A COUPLE TIMES, THEN STARTS AND I'M ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. IT DID THIS AGAIN 2 MORE TIMES WHILE DRIVING THAT SAME EVENING. THE NEXT DAY, NOTHING, THEN THE THIRD DAY, SAME THING. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND REMAINS. OF COURSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED EACH TIME, I WAS ON THE HWY AND HAD MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT, AGES 7 AND 9. I MOSTLY FEARED NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN AS I WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AT FIRST. AFTER RESEARCH AND USING A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL, I HAVE LEARNED IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED ME THAT CLEANING THEM USING FIXES THE PROBLEM AND THR THROTTLE CONTROL PART WOULD BE ON BACK ORDER AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY COULD GET IT. I ASKED WHAT IF IT DOESNT FIX THE PROBLEM HOW MUCH MONEY AM I OUT AND THEN HAVE TO BUY A THROTTLE CONTROL. I WAS DRIVING ALONG AN EXPRESSWAY AT 55 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE UPON STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, IT RAN FINE BUT THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WENT OFF. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON AN EXPRESSWAY. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE BUT NO LIGHTS WERE ON AND IT DID NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM. A FEW WEEKS LATER, DRIVING ON A STREET ROAD AT 35 MPH, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. IT OCCURRED AGAIN A FEW MINUTES LATER ON A HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I WENT TO MY LOCAL GARAGE THE NEXT DAY AND THEY PUT THE COMPUTER ON THE CAR AND FOUND THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE ACTIVATOR. I HAVE JUST LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE DEALER TODAY AND AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK IF THEY WILL FIX IT EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TO VACATION, AFTER 1 HOUR MY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SLOW DOWN. CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL AND CONTINUED TO DECELERATE ON ONE LANE HIGHWAY. CAR REMAINED OFF FOR 15 MINS DURING WHICH TIME I PRESSED THE RESET BUTTON. CAR RESTARTED AND DID NOT STALL AND RETURNED HOME. NEXT DAY I TOOK CAR INTO DEALER. MY CAR STALLED 3 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY ON TRIP TO DEALER. AFTER THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED, HAD INCIDENT WITH ENGINE RACING TO 6 RPMS. *TR

I WAS ABLE TO COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE CHECK ENGINE AND THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION(WRENCH) LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. AT THIS POINT I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 55 WHEN THE ENGINE SLOWED DOWN AND DID NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON A 4 LANE INTERSTATE, AS FAR AWAY FROM THE SHOULDER AS I COULD GET...SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION. I HAD TO MAKE MY WAY OVER THE 4 LANES TO PULL OVER. PUT THE CAR IN PARK, RESTARTED AND DROVE FOR ANOTHER 45 MINUTES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SINCE THIS FIRST TIME, IT HAS NOW OCCURRED WITH NO WARNING, NO PATTERN AT LEAST 10 TIMES - ONE TIME I WAS GOING ACROSS MULTIPLE LANES OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC AND CARS GOING 50+ MPH HAD TO STOP TO AVOID T-BONING ME. TOOK MY CAR INTO MECHANIC, THEY SAY ITS THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL AND THAT IT WILL BE MORE THAN A MONTH WAIT FOR REPAIR BECAUSE FORD CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND FOR THIS FAULTY PART. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF. IN RESEARCHING MY CARS ISSUE ONLINE I AM STUNNED TO SEE SO MANY OTHERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE. IN BOTH CASES, THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND DID NOT SEEM TO EVEN COAST WELL. I HAD A BLINKING WRENCH ON THE DASH AND WAS LUCKY TO HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUTTING IT INTO PARK. THIS HAS BEEN A SPORADIC ONGOING ISSUE FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT UNLESS IT IS FIXED. *TR
CAR ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY JERKED AND RPMS LOCKED AT 1000 NO MATTER WHAT WAS DONE WITH GAS PEDAL. DID NOT RECOVER UNTIL TURNED OFF AND THEN ON. REPEATED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. ALSO ENGINE WOULD STALL WHEN TRYING TO IDLE. RESOLUTION WAS REPLACEMENT OF FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *TR
EARLIER THIS MONTH, I STARTED MY CAR [FORD FUSION 2010 SE] AFTER HAVING IT PARKED [NEVER HAVING THIS SITUATION BEFORE] MY CAR STARTED VIBRATING AFTER I TURNED THE CAR ON AND BARELY DRIVING IT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP [BARELY MAKING IT THERE] I WENT TO "BROAD & JAMES AUTO CARE LOCATED AT 3288 E BROAD ST COLUMBUS, OH 43213" AFTER HAVING A DIAGNOSTICS DONE I WAS ADVISED THAT I HAD A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AND THEY CONTACTED FORD KRIEGER IN COLUMBUS OH AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND THAT THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC DATE OF RECEIPT. UPON RESEARCH I'VE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE. NOW MY CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN AT ALL. *TR
