I WAS GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, AND OUT OF NOWHERE MY CAR LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO DECREASE SPEED. I TRIED TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IT WAS VERY ROUGH IDLING. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT SEEMED FINE. NOW THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS, AT RANDOM TIMES AND SPEEDS. THE SCARIEST ONE FOR ME WAS IN A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND MY CAR DID THIS 4 TIMES TRYING TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE THIS GET FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY DOES GET HURT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE SUN ROOF GLASS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AND FRACTURED OUTWARD. THE SUN ROOF VISOR WAS CLOSED AND THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER, I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO GET OUT OF THE TRAFFIC. I CAME TO A STOP TURNED THE ENGINE OFF LET IT SIT FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE IT SEEMED FINE, I ATTEMPTED TO RETURN HOME BUT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM TWICE ON MY WAY HOME. I CALLED THE DEALER TO BRING THE CAR IN REGARDING THE PROBLEM. I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR, HE SEEMED TO KNOW IMMEDIATELY WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. $575.00 LATER I'M BACK ON THE ROAD. LESS THAN 4,000 OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS HAPPENS, IT SEEMS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH OTHER FUSIONS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH, THE CAR EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS IN POWER FOLLOWED BY FLUXUATING RPM AND NO THROTTLE CONTROL. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS, VEHICLE STOPPED PROPULSING AND HAD NO THROTTLE. A CODE APPEARED INDICATING A THROTTLE/ TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD, AND THEY INDICATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY MAKE AND MODEL, AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS, THE PART HAS BEEN BACK-ORDERED MONTHS AT A TIME, MORE THAN ONCE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED IN THE 4 AND 6 CYLINDER ENGINES ALL TRIM LEVELS. I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE AND FEARED FOR MY LIFE. THEIR SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE STOPS WITHOUT WARNING, AND A DRIVER COULD BE ANYWHERE. LEMON LAW? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,600. *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WE LOST SPEED AND HAD TO PULL OVER. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF, TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. *TR
2010 FORD FUSION: GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED LOSING POWER, NO ACCELERATION AND DOWN TO 55 AT WHICH TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE IT DIED. I LET IT SIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND TRIED TO START IT - STARTED FINE. THE FORD GARAGE PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE BUT I WAS TOLD BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON THERE WAS NO MEMORY TO SHOW WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED. IT RAN FINE FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD - BUT WAS TOLD AGAIN - NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE DIAGNOSTIC DOES NOT SHOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. AFTER MY OWN RESEARCH ON THE WEB I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS PROBABLY A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT - BUT MY LOCAL GARAGE DOES NOT WANT TO FIX IT WITHOUT KNOWING FOR SURE THAT IS THE PROBLEM. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE - MAYBE THE NEXT TIME I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY/ROAD BEFORE IT COMPLETELY STALLS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A LEAK UNDERNEATH THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. I WAS MAKING A TURN INTO A MALL WHEN MY CAR'S ACCELERATOR QUIT WORKING. I LET OFF AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND STILL NOTHING. I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN MY CAR OFF. I LEFT IT OFF FOR A MINUTE AND RESTARTED. IT WORKED FINE AFTER THE RESTART. A FEW MILES LATER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60 MPH. I DID THE SAME PROCEDURE AS BEFORE AND AGAIN, MY CAR RAN FINE. A FEW MINUTES LATER I WAS PULLING INTO A CHURCH PARKING LOT AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I DECIDED TO JUST GO BACK HOME BEFORE I HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS AT NIGHT. A FEW MILES FURTHER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HAD A PARTS STORE HOOK UP A DIAGNOSTICS MACHINE AND GOT A "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK OPEN" CODE. I BEGAN TO GOOGLE THIS AND FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORDS DOING THIS, YET FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I AM A BIT FURIOUS THAT THEY WOULD KNOW THERE IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES AND THEY WON'T ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS. *TR
MY DAUGHTER WAS RETURNING FROM A VACATION IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA AND WAS DRIVING THROUGH OPP, ALABAMA, WHEN HER 2010 FUSION STARTING JERKING BADLY. THE CHECK ENGINE AND THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. SHE PULLED OVER, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND RESTARTED. AS SOON AS SHE PUT IN GEAR, THE CAR STARTING SHAKING AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. SHE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN ELBA, ALABAMA. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. SHE WAS INFORMED THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THAT IT COULD TAKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS TO RECEIVE. WITH NO OTHER OPTION, SHE WAS FORCED TO RENT A CAR TO CONTINUE HER TRIP HOME. THE RENTAL CAR OPTIONS WERE SLIM AND IT APPEARS THIS EPISODE WILL COST HER ALMOST $900 INCLUDING RENTAL CAR COSTS (WITH A $200 ONE WAY FEE). THIS DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE THE COSTS TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP THE CAR WHEN IT'S REPAIRED. BASED ON RESEARCHING AND THE LEARNING OF MANY OTHER SIMILAR EXPERIENCES THAT OTHER FUSION OWNERS ENCOUNTERED WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, IT IS CLEAR FORD HAS A DEFECTIVE PART AND SHOULD ADDRESS WITH A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ENGAGED INTO LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AND WAS POWERED OFF. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY ONCE RESTARTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC OR REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH. THE CAR MADE A SUDDEN JERK, AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, WITH NO POWER OR ACCELERATION WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND WHEN I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR SHOOK ROUGHLY AND I TURNED IT OFF. A FEW MINUTES LATER, I RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AND IT GO TO THE POINT WHERE I NO LONGER FELT SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. LUCKILY FOR ME, THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS AND NO ONE GOT HURT, BUT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING WITH ALOT OF OTHERS, SO PEOPLE ARE AT RISK WITHOUT REALIZING IT. ONE OF THE REASONS I CHOSE THE FUSION FOR MY FAMILY WAS BECAUSE IT WAS MARKETED AS SAFE AND RELIABLE. SO FAR THE CAR HAS PROVED TO BE NEITHER. *TR
VEHICLES UNEXPECTEDLY GOES INTO "LIMP HOME MODE" AT REDUCED POWER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER ON JULY 17, 2013 AFTER REPEATED INCIDENTS. OWNER WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL MUST BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WILL ORDER THE NEW THROTTLE CONTROL WHICH IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND SHOULD ARRIVE IN 1-2 WEEKS. EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND NEWS ARTICLES ABOUT THIS COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2010 FORD FUSION, THE OWNER WAS QUOTED THAT THE COST TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE CONTROL WOULD BE $368 AS FORD HAS YET TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN SPEED. WRENCH LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, CAR DID NOT STALL. ONCE BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP NO CODE WAS AVAILABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMPS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND LOST POWER, AS IF PEDAL WAS NOT CONNECTED TO ENGINE. THE TACHOMETER FELL TO IDLE RPM AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. PROCEEDED TO GLIDE OFF TO THE SHOULDER WHERE, WHEN STOPPED, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SHUDDER. I TURNED OFF THEN RESTARTED MY CAR WHICH TOOK 4 SECONDS OF THE ENGINE TURNING OVER. STARTED UP AND ALL SEEMED OKAY BUT AS I WENT TO GET BACK ON THE INTERSTATE IT STALLED AGAIN. PROCEEDED TO TURN OFF AND ON AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEMS. VERY LUCKY I WAS NOT IN TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE OR COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT. WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS NO RESPONSE YET THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IN GEAR. THE WRENCH SYMBOL WAS ON THE DASH. I CUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. LATER THAT DAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH AND THE CAR JUST CUT OFF. I PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS AGAIN FINE. LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF MAD RESTARTED. THIS AGAIN WORKED BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT 65 MILES AN HOURS AND MY CAR STARTED JERKING AND SEEMED TO HAVE NO POWER, I WAS AT A PLACE WHERE 2 HIGHWAYS WERE COMING TOGETHER WHICH CAUSED GETTING THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD DIFFICULT! I WAS ABLE TO GET INBETWEEN THE 2 HIGHWAYS AND STOP THE CAR, I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES THEN STARTED THE CAR AND IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE. THE IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO ME WHILE DRIVING ON A SUNDAY AT 35 MILES AN HOUR AGAIN STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED IT OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN. CALLED THE DEALER ON MONDAY TO GET IT INTO THE SHOP HAD AN APPOINTMENT ON TUESDAY MORNING TO TAKE IT IN, ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AT 5:00 PM IT STARTED JERKING AND I ENDED UP HAVING TO STOP THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND TURN IT OFF AN ON AGAIN. THANK GOD I WAS NOT HIT IN EITHER INCIDENCE!! I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS MY THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THIS PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER WHICH TELLS ME THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I AM BEING TOLD THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL BE BEFORE THIS PART IS AVAILABLE AND I AM HAVING TO GET A RENT A CAR IN THE MEAN TIME. MY NEW CAR WARRANTY ENDED IN TIME APRIL 2013 AND I AM 3000 MILES OVER THE 30,000. I THINK THIS IS JUST WRONG TO HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM WITH A NEWER VEHICLE!! *TR
I STARTED TO PULL INTO AN INTERSECTION AFTER GETTING THE GREEN LIGHT AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION. I LET OFF THE GAS AND TRIED AGAIN AND THE CAR VIBRATED A LITTLE AND ROLLED TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT STARTED AND PULLED AWAY ANOTHER 50 FEET BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. IT WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY THE NEXT DAY. AFTER LEAVING THE SHOP IT HAD ONE JOLT DURING ACCELERATION BUT NO FURTHER ISSUE THAT DAY. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT HAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER AT ALL. THEY STILL DON?T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION THE CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS GETTING NO GAS. IT WAS A RAINY DAY AND I ASSUMED THE UNDERCARRIAGE HAD GOTTEN IT WET. I STUTTERED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND STOP THE CAR. AFTER SITTING FOR 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND GET OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT. I THEN LET IT SIT FOR AN HOUR AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME THE 10 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT. I DROVE THE CAR FOR 2 MORE DAYS WITHOUT INCIDENT, THEN ON 7-5-2013 DURING A 30 MILE TRIP IT DID THE SAME THING. STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND SUDDENLY THE CAR ACTED LIKE IT COULD GET NO GAS. WE PARKED IT FOR AN HOUR AND MADE IT HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN TRYING TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, CAR WOULD SPEED UP AND SLOW DOWN ON A SIDESTREET! WAS A SCARY 2 MILE DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER 9 HOURS THEY FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE "THROTTLE ARM". AFTER THE DIAGNOSIS I FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD CAR. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, AND HAVING TO SPEND $427 TO GET THIS FIXED IS RIDICULOUS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART. *TR

AFTER WE STARTED IT AGAIN THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK TO WHERE WE WERE STAYING. WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND WE HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALER IN THAT AREA. THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND THAT MOST OF THE 2010 FORD FUSIONS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THAT PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. WE WERE IN SOUTH CAROLINA AT THE TIME AND HAD TO MAKE IT BACK TO VIRGINIA. THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AND WE TOOK IT TO ADVANCE AUTO WHERE THE CODE P2111 SHOWED UP AS THE ERROR WHICH IS THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR. WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP LATER THIS WEEK FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT WE CANNOT DRIVE OUR CAR NOW. I CALLED FORD TODAY AND WAS INFORMED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL AS OF NOW. THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MOST 2010 FORD FUSIONS AND FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. *TR
AFTER DRIVING OVER 50 MILES, MY CAR STALLED AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND LET IT IDLE, BUT IT RAN ROUGH. ONCE I TURNED IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON, IT RAN OKAY. IT STALLED AGAIN LATER IN THAT SAME TRIP. THEN IT STALLED AGAIN TWICE ON MY WAY HOME. LUCKILY, I WAS ON A NON BUSY ROAD WITH A SHOULDER. THEN IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT AFTER DRIVING OVER 50 MILES, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS NERVOUS BECAUSE ONCE IT STALLED AS I WAS TURNING ONTO A ROAD WITHOUT A SHOULDER. OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS PART WHEN IT TAKES SO LONG TO GET THE PART. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE TO WAIT THAT LONG FOR A PART. NOW TODAY, MY SISTER-IN-LAW, WHO ALSO HAS A 2010 FUSION STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND SHE HAS A LOT LESS MILES ON HER CAR (ABOUT 40,000). READING ALL OF THE ISSUE OTHERS ARE HAVING WITH THIS PART ON THE INTERNET, I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART AND MY REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE COVERED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN THE RIGHT LANE OF A MAJOR, HEAVILY TRAVELED (WITH MANY TRACTOR TRAILERS), DIVIDED HIGHWAY, TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF BETWEEN 55 AND 60 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN, WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE SEEMED TO SHUT DOWN. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE; THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION AS TRUCKS AND CARS HAD TO BREAK, WHILE I STEERED THE CAR TO THE NARROW SHOULDER. THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING (TACH SHOWED 900 TO 1000 RPM). HOWEVER, ENGINE WAS TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE TO MY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, PUT THE FLASHERS ON AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE STARTED NORMALLY, AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT ONE-QUARTER MILE, THE SAME ENGINE SHUTDOWN OCCURRED. CALLED AAA AND HAD THE CAR TOWED. THE AUTO REPAIR CENTER CHECKED FOR TROUBLE CODES. THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY HAD FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SINCE THE REPAIR WAS MADE. SUBSEQUENT TO THE REPAIR, I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNCOMMON TO FORD OWNERS. I WAS GRATIFIED TO SEE THAT YOUR AGENCY HAS OPENED AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE MATTER. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL AND DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT. I THEN CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR SAFELY OFF OF THE ROAD AT WHICH POINT IT SHUT OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE CAR CONTINUED TO JERK AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR AGAIN. THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON BUT THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. I HAD MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP JULY 1 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS ON BACKORDER. UPON LEARNING THIS, I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SOME THING HAPPEN TO THEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE IS NOT ABLE TO GET THEIR CAR OFF OF THE ROAD WHEN THIS SITUATION OCCURS. *TR
ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65 MPG WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE CAR JERKED. THE YELLOW WRENCH CAME ON. I HAD NO ACCELERATION AND CAR WAS BUCKING. I ROLLED TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE PUT IT IN PARK AND IT CONTINUED TO BUCK. TURNED KEY OFF. TURNED BACK ON. IT WAS LIKE HITTING THE RESET BUTTON. DROVE ANOTHER 15 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT DID IT A THIRD TIME. STILL 45 MILES AWAY I REDUCE SPEED TO 55 TRYING NOT TO TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME. LUCKY FOR OUR FAMILY WE WERE NOT ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR WE WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT DEAD IN THE MIDDLE. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. ALL WE COULD DO IS CRUISE TO A STOP. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY SITUATION. WHILE I WAS UP TO SPEED (65 MPH), THE CAR'S WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, AND LOST POWER. ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE STILL FUNCTIONING, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES, TRIED THE CAR AGAIN, AND IT MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION, AND WENT TROUBLE-FREE ON THE RETURN TRIP HOME. THE CAR HAD THE SAME OCCURRENCE ON MONDAY, JULY 8. AT THAT TIME, I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHO CAME AND TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER THAT SERVICES MY CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. ESTIMATED REPAIR COST: $387.00. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS NUMEROUS OTHERS...THE THROTTLE BODY. .....MECHANICS ARE TELLING ME IT WILL COST ME ABOUT 600 $ TO REPAIR. ....THIS IS AN ONGOING SCAM IN PART BY FORD.... I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY CHILD WHEN MY CAR STARTED JERKING AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. I HAD TO HURRY AND PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND TRY TO GET ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE JERKING CAUSED MY DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT TO PULL TIGHT AND LEFT MARKS ON MY SHOULDER. A WRENCH LIGHT BY THE PARK BUTTON CAME ON AND WAS LIGHTED UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THE CAR STARTED AND I PROCEEDED TO HEAD TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING BUT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS MORNING THEY CALLED AND SAID MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACED. THE SERVICE DEPT TOLD ME THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL OF THESE THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. HE SAID IT CAN BE 7-10 DAYS BEFORE THE PART COMES IN. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. ANY PASSENGER CAN GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR INJURED IF GOING HIGH SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS PART GOES OUT. A CRACK APPEARED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. DOOR CAN BE OPENED AT HIGH SPEED AND CAN ALSO BE OPENED WHEN LOCKED WITH THE KEY FOB. I AM CONCERNED THE LATCH HANDLE WILL BREAK AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THE CAR CANNOT BE SECURED AGAINST POTENTIAL THEFT. THIS IS A SERIOUS MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND COULD BE EASILY CORRECTED THROUGH A RECALL. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION POWER. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD FOR FEAR OF STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER A COUPLE SEPARATE SIMILAR INSTANCES AND TRIPS TO THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP, THEY DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. AFTER REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AFTER THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AND FOUND NUMEROUS OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THE 2010 FORD FUSION. THE RESEARCH STATED THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BETWEEN 40,000 TO 60,000 MILES. *TR
