I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR POWER SHUT OFF AND THEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR, IT TOOK A WHILE BUT IT CAME ON AND RAN GOOD FOR A FEW MONTHS AND IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES AFTER THAT. EVERY TIME THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE. THIS LAST TIME IT HAPPENED THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY THROTTLE BODY ISSUE THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ALL F A SUDDEN CAR STARTS TO STALL. I WAS IN MY LEFT LANE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. PULLED ON SIDE OF ROAD TURNED CAR OFF WAITED 2 MIN STARTED CAR AGAIN. AS I WAS APPROACHING 50 TO 55 MPH CAR STARTED TO STALL AGAIN WITH WRENCH LIGHT ON.. PULLED OFF AGAIN NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICAL. GOT CAR TOWED TO SHOP AND COME TO FIND OUT MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC SAID THAT ALOT OF FUSIONS HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND ITS A DEFECTIVE PART AND ITS A SAFETY CONCERN. IT COST ME 600.00 TO REPLACE PART. THIS PART IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND CAN KILL ALOT OF PEOPLE IF THIS PART IS NOT RECALLED.. IF THERE WAS A SEMI BEHIND ME AND I STALLED I WOULD B DEAD FOR A FAULTY PART FORD HAS NOT YET SEEMED TO RECALL.. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP... HELP SAVE LIVES NOT TAKE THEM!!!!! WE PURCHASE CARS TO BE RELIABLE NOT A DEATH TRAP! *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 45 MPH THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING BUT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE PEDAL. THE CAR SLOWED AND LUCKILY COULD BE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE CAR SLOWED TO A STOP IT STARTED BUCKING. AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF, THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND RAN OK FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP TO WORK. THE CAR HAD THE SAME FAILURE ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK AND ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. THE DEAL SERVICE HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 65MPH WHEN THE ENGINE JERKED AND CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE TO THE RIGHT OF ME SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. ONCE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY EVEN WHILE IN PARK. I HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE. I COULD HAVE DIED! *TR

WHILE GETTING ONTO THE INTERSTATE THE ACCELERATOR FAILED THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SHUT THE CAR OFF RESTARTED IT DROVE ANOTHER 10 MILES AND AGAIN SAME ISSUE RESTARTED AND DROVE LESS THAN 5 MILES AND AGAIN RESTART DRIVE LESS THAN 1 MILE AND YET AGAIN I CALLED THREE DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND NONE OF THEM HAVE THE PART TO EVEN THINK ABOUT FIXING THIS PROBLEM THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP AS SOME PEOPLE DON'T HAVE $400-$700 INCLUDING MYSELF TO SAY OK FORD HERE IS MY CAR FIX IT WHILE WAITING A WEEK TO A MONTH FOR IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WA RESTARTED IT RAN FINE. HOWEVER IT CONTINUES DOING THIS. THE DEALER SAYS THE THROTTLE UNIT ($600) NEEDS REPLACED THIS AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS JUST REPLACED. WE CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE IT TOOK THREE WEEKS FOR THEIR REPRESENTATIVE TO RETURN THE CALL AND HE HAD THE NERVE TO ASK "WHAT DID WE EXPECT HIM TO DO"? WITH THE WEB THE COMPANIES CAN NO LONGER LIE THE DEALER AND FORD FIRST STATED IT WAS THE FIRST THEY HEARD OF THIS, YET THERE ARE LAWSUITS EVERYWHERE. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH ICON AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000. *TR
SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO START ON THE FIRST TURN OF THE KEY. THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK FOR 5+ SECONDS UNTIL I TURNED THE KEY TO THE "OFF" POSITION, REMOVED THE KEY AND TRIED AGAIN. IT WOULD ALWAYS START ON THE SECOND TRY... JUST RECENTLY (BEGINNING OF JUNE 2013) I NOTICED MY TACHOMETER WAS GOING FROM 7000 TO 4000RPM AT STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS BUT THE CAR NEVER STALLED. ON 6/26/13 AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN TO ABOUT 30 MPH THE CAR LOST POWER, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE CAR DID NOT STALL. I GRADUALLY PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY HAZARDS ON TRYING NOT TO CAUSE ALARM TO THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION KEY OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY FOR 10-20 SECONDS AND RESTARTED THE CAR. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE OK SO I DROVE THE CAR HOME. ON 6/27/13 I DROVE MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS BUT ON THE WAY BACK I WAS 20 MILES INTO MY RETURN TRIP AND DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY WHEN I EXPERIENCED THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM FROM THE DAY BEFORE (YESTERDAY). THIS TIME I WAS IN HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC COMING OUT OF NYC. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE GSP. AGAIN I WAITED 10-20 SECONDS AND RESTARTED. THE IDLE WAS ROUGH FOR A FEW SECONDS BUT WAS FINE AFTER THAT SO I MERGED BACK ONTO THE HEAVILY CONGESTED ROAD. AFTER ANOTHER 20-30 MILES THE CAR FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER EASILY BECAUSE I STAYED IN THE RIGHT LANE KNOWING A POWER LOSS WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE SO FAR BECAUSE THE CAR HAS STARTED BACK UP AND IT WAS STILL DAYLIGHT. MY FEAR IS TRAVELING AT NIGHT ON A ROAD WITHOUT A SHOULDER WHICH I DO A LOT AND NOT GETTING IT STARTED. *TR
***** BAD THROTTLE BODY******** MY WIFE AND SON WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF GOING THROUGH A INTERACTION A CAR ALMOST HIT THEM TO THE RAPID LOSS OF SPEED. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU HAVE NO POWER AND VERY LITTLE CONTROL OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPEN ABOUT FOUR TIMES NOW. LOOKS LIKE FORD IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT THIS AND AFTER THIS DID IT ON ME TODAY 6/27/13 SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IN A ACCIDENT OR HURT REAL BAD. FROM LOOKING AT ALL THE REVIEWS THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SHOULD BE ON A RECALL LIST BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR WORST. PLEASE HELP US GET THIS ON A RECALL LIST. THANK YOU. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND GOT A FLAT TIRE. AT THE SAME TIME I RECEIVED AN ERROR ABOUT THE POWER STEERING AND TO SERVICE THE ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM. I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS RELATED TO THE FLAT TIRE. I GOT THE TIRE REPLACED AND THE TIRE PRESSURE ERROR CLEARED BUT I STILL HAVE NO POWER STEERING. IWAS TOLD THAT THE TWO ISSUES WERE NOT RELATED AND THAT THE POWER STEERING IS COMPLETELY SEPARATE. I SEE MANY MANY MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH 2010-2011 FORD FUSIONS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP. NOTHING BROKE ON MY CAR AND THE FLUIDS ARE FINE SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS ERROR AND FOR THE POWER STEERING TO STOP WORKING. *TR
CAR WAS STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE , BUT ONLY CREEP ALONG. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A PARKING LOT JUST ACROSS THE INTERSECTION WHERE CAR WAS STOPPED. TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD US IT NEEDED A NEW ELECTRONIC THROTTLE. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED OUT AT AN INTERSECTION, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND OTHER DASH INDICATORS CAME ON. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THIS MORNING THAT THE NECESSARY PART, AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, IS ON BACK-ORDER NATIONWIDE AND DID NOT EXPECT TO HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE FOR INSTALLATION UNTIL THE WEEK OF 7/8 AT THE EARLIEST AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, THUS COSTING APPROXIMATELY $500.00. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES THAT NHTSA HAS LAUNCHED A PROBE INTO THIS ISSUE. *TR .
THE CAR'S THROTTLE-BODY FAILED INSTANTLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A MAJOR SECONDARY ROAD. THE FAILURE RESULTED IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND REQUIRED IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY ACTION TO GET OFF THE TWO TRAVEL LANES (DURING RUSH-HOUR IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA), AND NEARLY RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ONLY 1/4 MILE FROM ENTERING INTERSTATE 66, WHICH DID NOT HAVE A SAFE SHOULDER DURING THE TIME OF THE FAILURE, AND WHICH WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR IN FAR LEFT LANE WHEN VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY LOSES POWER. ACCELERATOR PEDAL COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE, AND ENGINE SPEED DROPS TO APPROXIMATELY 800 RPM. I HAD TO QUICKLY MANEUVER ACROSS TWO LANES, WHICH WERE OCCUPIED BY TRACTOR TRAILERS TO GET TO RIGHT SHOULDER. CAME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO HAVING A MAJOR ACCIDENT DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC WHICH WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY INVOLVED 15-20 VEHICLES DUE TO SUDDEN ONSET AND HEAVY TRAFFIC. VEHICLE IDLED EXTREMELY ROUGH UPON STOP. VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AND OPERATE NORMALLY FOR AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME, THEN THE SAME ISSUE WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR FORD FUSIONS BUILT PRIOR TO LATE 2011 AND FORD ESCAPES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION, AND A RECALL SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE ISSUED. ONLINE RESEARCH HAS A CONSENSUS THAT THE PROBLEM IS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FROM THESE VEHICLES. I HAVE BEEN VERY SATISFIED WITH THIS VEHICLE UNTIL THIS POINT. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED, WRENCH LIGHT ON DASH LIT. I WENT TO SIDE OF ROAD, DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR BUT ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. IDLED ONLY, IDLE WAS ROUGH , ENGINE JERKED. AFTER 2 MINUTES I TURNED ENGINE OFF THEN STARTED THE ENGINE WITH NORMAL RESULT, WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF AND VEHICLE IDLED NORMALLY. I DROVE 20MILES HOME. WILL TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER 6/26, I BELIEVE THIS IS A DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE AS STALLING AT A HIGHER SPEED IN TRAFFIC COULD BE DEADLY. *TR
YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 AND ALSO LOST ACCELERATION BUT STILL HAD POWER, IT WAS WEIRD THE CAR WAS STILL ON, BUT THE YELLOW "WRENCH LIGHT" CAME ON INDICATING IT WAS A THROTTLE CONTROL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM! I PULLED OVER PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN OFF THE IGNITION, AND RESTART THE CAR WITH OUT A PROBLEM. ITS ONLY 2010 FUSION SO WE SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. THE ENGINE FELT "DISCONNECTED" FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I COULD PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL I WANTED, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL UNDER IT'S OWN MOMENTUM, BUT BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, I WAS VERY NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE, AND BECAUSE I WAS COASTING DOWN TO A STOP QUICKLY, MY ONLY CHOICE WAS TO PULL INTO THE CENTER TURN LANE OF THE 5-LANE ROAD. TRAFFIC CONTINUED TO SPEED PAST ME AS I STOPPED IN THE CENTER LANE. AS I STOPPED, THE ENGINE RAN INCREDIBLY ROUGHLY. IT WAS STUMBLING AND MISSING LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING ENOUGH AIR. THERE WAS A YELLOW WRENCH ICON ON MY DASHBOARD, BUT NO "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT". I SHUT DOWN, WAITED A MINUTE, AND REFIRED THE CAR. THE CAR RAN PERFECTLY SMOOTHLY AFTER THAT. I DID SOME CHECKING, AND IT APPEARS TO BE A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO BE VERY WIDESPREAD ON 2010 AND 2011 FORD'S. PLEASE MAKE THEM RECALL THIS. IT'S A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I'M LUCKY IT WAS JUST ME IN THE CAR, AND I KNEW WHAT TO DO. WHAT IF MY WIFE AND BABY WERE IN THE CAR, AND SHE WASN'T AS LUCKY? WHAT IF THE GUY BEHIND ME WASN'T AS QUICK ON HIS BRAKES?? *TR

I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF SUDDEN MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. A WRENCH SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE ON THE GAS BUT COULD NOT MOVE. I TO HURRY UP AND PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC BEFORE I GOT IT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES STARTED IT BACK UP DRIVE TWO BLOCKS AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I ONLY HAD THE CAR LESS THAN A YEAR AND COULD HAVE A CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT WITH THE CAR STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I THANKS GOD FOR WATCHING OVER ME. COMING HOME FROM WORK MY CAR STARTED TO HAVE DIFFICULTIES KEEPING SPEED. SOON AFTER MY CAR LOST ENGINE POWER. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE ON MY WAY HOME WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN THE REPORT I WAS GIVEN SAYS "CODE P2111 PRESENT" WHEN MEANS THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD MY CAR FOR A YEAR. *TR
THE CARS STALLS WHILE ACCELERATING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY 8 MONTHS AGO AT 50MPH . THE CAR ALL OF THE SUDDEN STOPPED ACCELERATING A WRENCH ICON APPEARED AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND THE CAR STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE SECOND TIME WAS WHILE DRIVING ON STREET AT 25MPH, HAD TO REPEAT THE PROCESS. ON 6/25 IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER BEING STOPPED ON A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND TURNED LEFT ACCELERATED AND CAR STALLED AGAIN AT 50MPH HAD TO PULL OVER ONCE AGAIN. THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEAR. I HAD TO DRIVE 5 MILES TAPPING THE GAS PEDAL TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM STALLING. AFTER THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON 476 IN PA, THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND WHEN I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE A WARNING/EVENT LIGHT WENT ON INDICATING THROTTLE/TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE REPAIR ARRANGEMENT AND WAS ADVISED THE CAR IS DRIVABLE AND THAT SOME OF THESE THROTTLE ISSUES ARE "INTERMITTENT". THE CAR STALLED 3 MORE TIME ON MY WAY HOME, ABOUT 75 MILES AND IT SEEMED TO STALL EVERY 20 OR SO MINUTES. CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AWAITING REPLACEMENT PART(S). *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY @ 70 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, WITHOUT WARNING, THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED, THE ENGINE DECELERATED SUDDENLY, AND THE 'WRENCH' WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT VERY LOW RPM (500 - 600 RPM). THE CAR SHUDDERED WHILE THE A/T WAS IN DRIVE - THE SHUDDER STOPPED WHEN THE A/T WAS SHIFTED TO N OR PARK. THE ENGINE SPEED DID NOT RESPOND TO PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. CUT OFF ENGINE AND SHUT OFF ALL ELECTRIC ACCESSORIES. CAR RESTARTED AND RAN THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. INCIDENT REPEATED ITSELF THE FOLLOWING DAY AT EXACTLY THE SAME LOCATION (AND THUS UNDER NEARLY IDENTICAL DRIVING CONDITIONS - THROTTLE, TORQUE, SPEED, ENGINE RPM, ETC). I REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) BASED ON RECOMMENDATIONS FROM MECHANIC, FORD DEALER SERVICE DESK, AND NUMEROUS ANECDOTAL ACCOUNTS FOUND ON SEARCH OF INTERNET OF NEARLY IDENTICAL EPISODES WITH OTHER FUSION OWNERS. THE ETB I REMOVED FROM THE CAR HAD A UNIFORM LAYER OF DARK COMBUSTION DEPOSITS ON THE BUTTERFLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL POWER AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. IT WOULD REQUIRE PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF FOR 3-5 MINUTES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO CONTINUE. THIS HAPPENED 7-10 TIMES IN THE SAME DAY. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WE TOOK IT INTO THE NEAREST AUTO PARTS STORE WHO RAN IT THROUGH THE COMPUTER AND IT WAS THE "THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR" WHICH REQUIRED REPLACING THE ENTIRE "THROTTLE BODY". THIS NEARLY CAUSED A WRECK EVERY TIME IT HAPPENED. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING APROX 65MPH DOWN A 4 LANE HWY AT 6:20 AM ON 6/24/13, MY CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND WOULD NOT RESPOND/ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. THE RED "WRENCH" LIGHT LIT UP ON THE INFORMATION CENTER ON THE DASH BOARD. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE IT FINALLY CUT OFF. I WAITED A MINUTE OR TWO AND TRIED ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND IT RESTARTED SUCCESSFULLY. I WAS ABLE TO CAUTIOUSLY CONTINUE DRIVING UNTIL I REACHED A FORD DEALERSHIP LATER THAT MORNING AT WHICH POINT THEY TOLD ME IT THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY WENT ON TO SAY THAT FORD WAS NOT COVERING THIS REPAIR AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL IN EFFECT! THIS REPAIR COST ME $300 OF WHICH I COULD NOT SPARE FROM MY BUDGET! THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO CARS OR TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND WHEN MY CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE! THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE MANY PEOPLE ARE KILLED!!!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION, AT A NORMAL SPEED OF 45 MPH, THE CAR'S ACCELERATION CUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. I NOTICED THIS WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTICED THAT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR MOVE MY CAR BESIDE COASTING. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OFF THE ROAD, HOWEVER, IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, I MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN IN TO AN ACCIDENT. AFTER PARKING MY CAR, I NOTICED THE RPMS WERE JUMPING A BIT, AND AN ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD SIGNAL. I TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, AND TRIED TURNING IT ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE GAVE A SLIGHT HESITATION AND THEN STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME WITH THE SAME RESULT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET FIXED, AND THEY INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A VERY COMMON ISSUE THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING WITH MY VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY, IN WHICH GETS STUCK AND SHUTS DOWN THE ENGINE. THEY INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE THAT IS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING INJURY OR DEATH. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, AS IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN MY VEHICLE. ON SUNDAY JUNE 30TH, 2013, I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO SWITCH LANES AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND MY WIFE TOLD ME THAT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO HER. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS LITTLE TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED IN THE SUMMER OF 2013 IN DECEMBER OF 2013 WE STARTED HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AGAIN WITH THE SHAKING AND STALLING OUT. THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THEN 1 YEAR. NO ACCIDENTS OCCURRED BUT I COULD SEE THIS LEADING TO ACCIDENT INJURY OR EVEN DEATH IF THIS OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY. AFTER MULTIPLE FAILED STARTS, THE CAR STARTED, BUT WOULD NOT STAY ON. WAS ABLE TO FINALLY GET THE CAR STARTED, BUT HAD NO ACCELERATION. AFTER A FEW STOPS AND STARTS OF THE ENGINE, WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE. AT 3 MORE STOPS, THE CAR STALLED AND REQUIRED MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD REMAIN STARTED. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED THE FOLLOWING DAY BECAUSE IT DID THE SAME THING ON A HILL. I HAD TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR THIS TIME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST ME OVER $500 TO FIX AND THE PART WOULD TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO COME IN DUE TO IT BEING ON BACK ORDER FROM IT HAPPENING SO OFTEN. I ALMOST GOT HIT WITH MY THREE YEAR OLD AND 6 MONTH OLD IN THE CAR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IT HAPPENS OUT OF NO WHERE AND AT ANY SPEED. THANK GOODNESS I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN!!! FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND MAKE THIS A SAFETY RECALL!! THE DEALER SAID HE IS SEEING IT IN MOSTLY ALL 2010-2012 FUSIONS. *TR
CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOST SPEED GOING UP HILL TO STOP SIGN. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WENT DEAD. CARS WERE BEHIND ME AND PASSING ON BUSY STREET IN FRONT OF ME. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. DIDN'T CORRECT PROBLEM. HAD TO TAKE BACK. ON THE WAY, WENT DEAD PULLING OUT ONTO MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH MORNING TRAFFIC COMING. FINALLY GOT CRANKED. WENT ON TRYING TO GET TO DEALERSHIP AND WENT DEAD AGAIN IN MAJOR INTERSECTION. GOT TO DEALERSHIP. THROTTLE BODY PART ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. BEEN 8 DAYS AND PART STILL NOT IN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 40 AND THE CAR STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER WITH NO RESPONSE TO PRESSING THE PEDAL. IT WAS IDLING VERY ROUGH AND THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT SEEMED FINE UNTIL I GOT ON THE INTERSTATE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IT STALLED AROUND 15 TIMES IN 20 MILES. IT STALLED GOING 75 MPH A FEW TIMES AND ALSO STALLED COUNTLESS TIMES IN TRAFFIC WHEN I WAS STOPPED AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. ON THE WAY HOME I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND RODE WITH MY HAZARDS ON IN FEAR OF BEING REAR-ENDED. *TR
DURING INITIAL ACCELERATION THE CAR WILL LOSE POWER AND START SHAKING SPORADICALLY. THE CAR WILL NOT STALL BUT IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE IS DEPRESSED. THE CAR HAS TO BE RESTARTED TO STOP BEHAVIOR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AFTER THE BEHAVIOR PERSISTED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. BROUGHT CAR TO AN AUTO ZONE FOR AN ODBII READING. THE CODES THAT WERE REPORTED ARE AS FOLLOWS: P2111: THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN. P0457: EVAP SMALL LEAK DETECTED BROUGHT CAR TO FORD DEALER AS PROBLEM PERSISTED. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. *TR
