I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE LIGHT (WRENCH) COME ON TWICE DRIVING HOME YESTERDAY. THE FIRST TIME WAS FROM A STOP LIGHT AND THEN TURNING LEFT. THE CAR SHUDDERED, THE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WOULDN'T GO MORE THAN 5MPH. AFTER PULLING OVER AND TURNING THE CAR OFF, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER 2-3 TRIES. UPON RESTART THE LIGHT CLEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO START DRIVING HOME. ABOUT 2-3 MILES LATER, ON THE HIGHWAY, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN, TRAVELING AROUND 65 MPH. SAME SYMPTOMS, THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE, I HAD NO ACCELERATION AND COULDN'T GO MORE THAN 5MPH. THE CAR SHOOK AND SHUDDERED. AFTER PULLING OVER ( ON THE HIGHWAY! ) I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND LIMP HOME. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY CURRENTLY HAVE 7 FUSIONS ON THEIR LOT WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY LOSES ALL ACCELERATION AND WOULD SEEM LIKELY TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR, BUT WILL NOT BE DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL IT IS FIXED AS IT IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. ONE FORD SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT, HAVING RELEASE A TBS, BUT NEEDS TO GO FURTHER AND ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
I WAS GETTING UP TO SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER BEING IN STOP & GO FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THE "WRENCH" ICON WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, THE REVS DROPPED AND THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUT DOWN AND RESTART. IDLE WAS LOW AND ROUGH, STILL NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND CALLED AAA FOR A TOW. WHILE ON THE PHONE, I TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON (NOT RUNNING YET) AND NOTICED THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF. STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, AND THIS TIME EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. MECHANIC FOUND NO ENGINE CODES, SUSPECTS BAD EGR VALVE OR BAD THROTTLE BODY. *TR
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR EVEN AT LOWER SPEED (CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME), FEEL A SHUDDER AND HAVE NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. VERY VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC!!!!!! A WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. ONLY COASTING, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK. CAR HAD A VERY SHAKY IDLE, LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND WAITED FOR ABOUT 1 MIN, THEN STARTED VEHICLE BACK UP., BUT ONCE IT WAS BACK ON IT SEEMED FINE. WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS. 1 MONTH OR 2 LATER AFTER FIRST INCIDENT, SAME EVENT OCCURRED AGAIN, MULTIPLE TIMES. I WAS GOING TO MY SONS BASEBALL TOURNAMENT AND MISSED FIRST INNING CAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE FORD DEALER WOULD NOT GET IT IN QUICKLY AND DID NOT TELL ME THIS WAS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM, I TOOK TO ADVANCE AUTO AND RAN THE OBDII SCAN TOOL. WHAT DO YOU KNOW FAULT P2111 AND P2112. CALL FORD DEALER BACK AND PART IS ON BACKORDER. 7 PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME FOR SAME ISSUE. WENT ON INTERNET. THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM AND A SAFETY ISSUE ALL THE WAY. SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET THIS RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT!!!!! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HIT OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND PEOPLE WILL GET HURT. RIDICULOUS. AS I DROVE MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION UP TO A SPEED OF 50 MPH, I WAS NOTICING A COUPLE JERKS OF ACCELERATION AND THEN COMPLETELY LOOSING POWER.I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT. APP-ON RESTARTING I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO AUTO ZONE WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT MY FUEL INJECTORS PROBABLY NEEDED A GOOD CLEANING. SO I BOUGHT SOME CLEANER AND RAN I THROUGH MY ENGINE. THAT SEEMED TO HAVE WORKED UNTIL 3 DAYS LATER I WAS COMING HOME WITH MY SISTER AND HER FRIEND ON THE FREEWAY, DURING RUSH HOUR DRIVING 75MPH THIS TIME, AND MY CAR DIDN'T ONLY STALL ONCE, BUT THREE TIMES ON MY DRIVE HOME. HOWEVER, THIS TIME MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO WHEN I ARRIVED BACK HOW AND DROPPED OF MY SISTER AND HER FRIEND I DROVE TO AUTO ZONE AND ADVANCED AUTO PARTS TO GET AN OBD II READING. BOTH READINGS WERE P2111, MEANING THAT MY THROTTLE ACTUATOR WAS STUCK OPEN AND NOT RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDDLE. NOW BOTH COMPANIES SUGGESTED THAT I JUST CLEAN MY THROTTLE BODY AND THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. BEFORE I DID THIS I CALL MY FORD DEALER TO SEE IF THIS PART WAS UNDER WARRANTY OR ANY KIND OF RECALL AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. THEY ALSO SUGGESTED THAT I JUST CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT WOULD FIX MY PROBLEM. SO I CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT NOW THE CAR IS STALLING MORE THAN BEFORE. I TRIED LOOKING UP THE PART SO THAT I COULD REPLACE IT BUT FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAS ALREADY DISCONTINUED THAT PART AND IS TELLING PEOPLE TO BY THE NEW PART, BUT THEY NEVER DID A RECALL FOR THE PART. THIS PARTICULAR PART CONTROLS THE AIR FLOW INTO THE ENGINE, IF IT MALFUNCTIONS THE THROTTLE BODY CLOSES UP AND THE CAR IDLES, NO MATTER HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. THIS IS A SEVER SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. IF THEY DON'T SOMEONE CAN BE SERIOUSLY INJURED, OR WORSE, KILLED. *TR
2010 FORD FUSION SEL 2.5L AUTOMATIC PURCHASED IN YONGE/STEELES FORD LINCOLN IN CANADA. DURING NORMAL DRIVING, WRENCH LIGHT WILL SUDDENLY BE ON: - CANNOT ACCELERATE, SPEED CANNOT GO BEYOND 60KM/H, RPM CANNOT GO BEYOND 2000 - SOMETIMES VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOOSE POWER AND SLOW DOWN. ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED A FEW TIMES. - MANAGED TO PULL OVER, STOP THE CAR, AND RESTART, SOMETIMES THE PROBLEM WILL DISAPPEAR AFTER RESTART, SOMETIMES THE PROBLEM COMES BACK IN A FEW MINUTES TOOK MY CAR TO MARKVILLE FORD LINCOLN ON JUNE 20TH, 2013, AND THEY CLAIMED IT WAS FIXED. ON THE REPORT, IT IS SAID: "DS12 DIAGNOSE ENGINE LIGHT CONCERN, LOCATE AND REPAIR WIRING TO ACCELERATOR, REPLACE SENSOR" "FTP FUEL INJECTORS & THROTTLE BODY SERVICE PLUS PCM REPROGRAM" 5 DAYS LATER ON JUNE 25, 2013, THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED, AND MY 3 YEAR OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. VERY FRUSTRATED AND UPSET. TOOK THE CAR TO MARKVILLE FORD LINCOLN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON JUNE 26, 2013, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER. I DID NOT SHUTDOWN THE ENGINE AND PUT THE CAR IN PARKING AT THE DEALER. AFTER A WHILE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTED TO REV UP AND DOWN BETWEEN 1500 AND 2200 RPM. VOICED THE CONCERN OF THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE TO THE DEALER AS I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE DISCUSSED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. DEALER STILL CLAIM IT IS A PCM ISSUE. THE CAR IS STILL IN THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT NOW. CALLED FORD CANADA CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP, AND THEY WILL CONTACT MARKVILLE FORD LINCOLN. SORRY THE ADDRESS DOESN'T ALLOW CANADIAN ADDRESS. SO I SIMPLY PUT NEW YORK STATE. *TR
WITHOUT WARNING THE MOTOR SHUT DOWN, NO POWER AND BEGIN TO MISFIRE. AFTER PULLING OVER AND WAITING, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE MOTOR. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES WITHIN 120 MILES. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS DONE. THE CODES REVELED THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. *TR
THE FIRST TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURRED I WAS A 4 LANE WITH THE CRUISE SET A 65. THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND AT THE SAME TIME! THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I BRAKED THE CAR AND PULLED OVER OFF THE ROAD, THE CARS ENGINE WAS RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH SO I TURNED OF THE IGNITION. AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES RESTARTED THE CAR GOT BACK TO SPEED AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED- LUCKY FOR ME NO TRAFFIC AROUND AT THE TIME. THE FORTH TRY THE CAR RAN FINE THE REST OF THE 6 MILES LEFT TO WORK. THAT NIGHT GOING HOME FROM WORK- SAME THING- LOSS OF ALL POWER AND WRENCH LIGHT- MADE IT OFF THE ROAD AGAIN SAFELY. RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT RAN FINE- ABOUT 3 MILES TO HOME. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS IT DID THE SAME THING SEVERAL MORE TIMES THEN RAN FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK. TURNS OUT THAT WAS JUST THE START OF THE FUN! : [ NOW IT STARTED LOSING POWER AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS IN TOWN, AS I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON A 4 LANE THAT TRAFFIC WAS MOVING 55MPH. *TR
I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK GOING ABOUT 10 MPH WHEN I FELT A SUDDEN JERK AND I SAW WRENCH WITH NO ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE I WAS ONLY ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAS ABLE TO START IT UP AGAIN WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I TOLD MY HUSBAND THINKING IT WAS JUST A FLUKE BUT THEN 3 DAYS AGO HE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THINK WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER PAYING FOR A DIAGNOSTIC WE FOUND OUT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT ORDER THE THROTTLE BODY KIT SINCE IT IS ON BACK ORDER. NOW WE ARE BEING FORCED TO EITHER TAKE A CHANCE AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHILE WAITING WHO KNOWS HOW LONG FOR A PART OR PURCHASE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. *TR
LIKE MANY OTHERS, I'M EXPERIENCING INCREASINGLY FREQUENT ACCELERATION FAILURES (NO ACCELERATION WITH VISUAL CUE AS WELL AS ACCELERATION SURGES) CONSISTENT WITH (AND IDENTIFIED BY DEALER AS) A MALFUNCTIONING ETB. ADDITIONALLY, IT SEEMS THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MAY BE AFFECTED BY BOTH PROXIMITY AND STRESS SENSORS, AS THE FAILURES (AND GENERALLY FAIRLY DRAMATIC DROPS IN SPEED) TEND TO OCCUR MOST FREQUENTLY AT HIGH SPEEDS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. PER FORD'S RESPONSE TO THE SAFETY INVESTIGATION (INRL-PE13003-57050P), THE MANUFACTURER SUBMITS THAT THE RESULTING FMEM MODE (ALWAYS THE MOST SEVERE OF "GOOD LUCK WITH THAT" IN MY VEHICLE'S CASE) ALLOWS FOR SAFE MANEUVERING. WHILE THIS MAY BE TRUE ON THE TEST COURSES IN DEARBORN, I'D GLADLY VOLUNTEER MY VEHICLE TO ALLOW MY NEIGHBORS TO RE-EVALUATE THIS CLAIM IN ACTUAL LANSING TRAFFIC. *TT

VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE AND MECHANIC WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND STARTED TO GO AGAIN. IF I TRIED TO MODERATELY ACCELERATE MY FORD FUSION WOULD LOSE POWER AGAIN. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER IT WOULD BEGIN TO VIBRATE ROUGHLY WHEN LOW IDLING. I USE A CODE CHECKER AND PULLED A P2111 CODE WHICH STATES THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK OPEN. THIS OCCURRED 4 MORE TIMES ALONG THE TRIP BACK HOME. *TR
4TH INCIDENT WITH MY 2010 FUSION SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. I PICKED IT UP FROM THE FORD SERVICE 6/18 AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT, AGAIN. I DROVE TO WORK, NO PROBLEMS. GOT OFF WORK, DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THE CAR SPUTTERED, WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, NOTHING HAPPENS. COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT SPUTTERED SOME MORE AND SHUTS OFF. FORD KEEPS MAKING REPAIRS TO MY CAR SAYING THEY'VE FIXED IT BUT IT'S NOT FIXED. NOW I HAVE $1,200 IN REPAIR BILLS AND NO CAR. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND VERY STRESSED OVER THIS. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP GOING THROUGH THIS DANGER OF DRIVING A CAR THAT KEEPS SHUTTING OFF! AND AS I SEE FROM OTHER FORD OWNERS, I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS IS HAPPENING TO. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, OR SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT, OR KILLED!! ON JUNE 18, 2013 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I WAS STOPPED A YIELD SIGN WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR WHICH WOULD ALLOW ME TO ENTER A MAIN ROAD. WHEN TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGAN TO PROCEED. WITHIN ONE OR TWO SECONDS I LOST ALL POWER IN MY ACCELERATOR AND THE RPMS WERE NOT MOVING IN MY DASHBOARD. AS I STEERED MY VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD MY CAR BEGAN TO JERK AS I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK; ROUGHLY 100 FEET FROM WHERE I PULLED FROM. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THE WRENCH ON THE DASHBOARD TURN ON WHEN MY VEHICLE CAME TO REST. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON. I WAITED SEVERAL SECONDS THEN TURN THE CAR ON. IT HAD TROUBLE STARTING BUT DID START. I NOTICED THE WRENCH ON AGAIN BUT IT QUICKLY TURNED OFF. IF THE ROAD WAS NOT CLEAR WHEN I PULLED FROM THE YIELD SIGN I WOULD HAVE CAUSED AND ACCIDENT AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE AND PROCEEDING DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT 1 MILE THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME SEQUENCE OF LOSING POWER IN THE ACCELERATOR AND JERKING TO A STOP AS I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THIS TIME THE ROAD HAD WIDENED TO A TOW LANE ROAD OVERPASS OF AN INTERSTATE. MY VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP JUST BEFORE THE ENTRANCE TO THE INTERSTATE. THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT IS 35 MPH BUT PEOPLE TYPICALLY ACCELERATE TO 50 MPH PREPARING TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY. COMING TO A STOP BEFORE THE INTERSTATE ON RAMP THANKFULLY DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BUT DID CAUSE A SMALL TRAFFIC SLOW DOWN AS I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WITH A LITTLE TROUBLE AND THIS TIME I NOTICED THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. AFTER DROPPING MY VEHICLE OFF ON JUNE 19, 2013 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP ADVISING THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I AUTHORIZED THE WORK BECAUSE I NEED A RELIABLE CAR AND DO NOT WANT TO FEAR FOR MY SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE ENGINE AND THROTTLE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND WITHIN FIFTEEN MINUTES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT DETECTED A TROUBLE CODE RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, AND THE CAR WENT TO A QUICK DECELERATE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC, AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR ALMOST STALLED ONCE I GOT COMPLETELY STOPPED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, AND RESTARTED IT. IT STARTED UP A LITTLE SLOW, BUT WAS QUICK TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. THIS WAS ON TUESDAY MORNING. ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON THE SAME SYMPTOMS (NO ACCELERATION, AND A QUICK DECELERATION) BUT THIS TIME I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE, AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO PULL OFF TO THE LEFT, BECAUSE I WAS NOT TRAVELING FAST ENOUGH TO TRY AND GET THROUGH THE TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT. TURNED IT OFF, ABOUT A MINUTE LATER I STARTED IT AGAIN, AND I WENT ON MY WAY. THEN THIS MORNING (06/25/13) IT HAPPENED 2 TIMES ON MY WAY TO WORK. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN THE RIGHT LANE, JUST IN CASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND IT IS A GOOD THING I DID. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD, AS TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS, AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SAFELY GET PULLED OVER PRESENTS A LOT OF DANGER FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE CODE, AND THEY TOLD ME IT POINTS TO A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. AFTER READING NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS AND SYMPTOMS, I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY AND AS I GAVE THE CAR THE GAS, IT SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CAR LOST ALL POWER BUT CONTINUED TO RUN AND I NOTICED A LIGHT ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OF A WRENCH. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE CAR. I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO AND STARTED IT BACK UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN SUDDENLY MY SPEED DROPPED TO 5 MPH. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF MY CAR. AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW MINUTES I STARTED THE CAR AND GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER I TRAVELED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IN A MINUTE OR TWO AND AGAIN WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE MY TRAVELS ON THE HIGHWAY. MY DESTINATION WAS ABOUT TWO MILES AWAY. I CALLED THE DEALER, GANLEY FORD, THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR IN THAT DAY. THE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK FOR THE PART TO COME IN. TO MY SURPRISE IT ONLY TOOK THREE DAYS FOR IT COME IN. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY OR UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. MY SPEND JUST WENT FROM 65 MPH TO 5 MPH. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR LOCALLY ON 6/15/2013, I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND UPON ENTERING THE INTERSECTION AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CAR ALMOST STALLED AND THEN STARTED TO BUCK AND SURGE. I TURNED THE CORNER BUT COULD NOT DRIVE ANY FASTER THAN 20 MPH AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO SURGE, THEN ALMOST STALL, THEN SURGE AGAIN AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD 1/4 - 1/2 MILE TO THE ENTRANCE OF MY DAUGHTER'S DEVELOPMENT. I PULLED THE CAR OVER AND PUT IT IN PARK. MY DAUGHTER CAME TO MEET ME AND I DROVE THE CAR UP THE BLOCK TO HER HOUSE WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE GAS BUT LETTING IT "COAST", DURING WHICH IT AGAIN CONTINUED TO SURGE THEN ALMOST STALL, THEN SURGE AGAIN. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. THEY TOLD US THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART FOR ANOTHER 3 WEEKS SINCE IT WAS ON BACK-ORDER NATIONALLY, BUT INFORMED US THAT IT WAS OK TO DRIVE THE CAR. WE DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR, AS IT COULD SURGE INTO AN INTERSECTION OR STALL SUDDENLY, SO WE INVESTIGATED THROTTLE BODY ISSUES ON FORD CARS ON THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS SIMILAR ISSUES NATIONWIDE. SO WE DETERMINED TO LEAVE THE CAR AT THE DEALER UNTIL IT COULD BE REPAIRED AND DRIVEN SAFELY. WE FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO FILE THIS REPORT SINCE WE FEEL THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY.

WASN'T ABLE TO EXTRACT ANY FAULT CODES FROM THE ECU LATER THAT DAY. PURCHASED AN OBD READER AND WAS ABLE TO GET ERROR CODE P2112 NEXT TIME THE ISSUE HAPPENED. DEALER REFUSES TO COVER THE EXPENSE AS I AM OUT OF THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY PERIOD, AND THE PART IS ON BACKORDER FOR WEEKS. COMPLAINED TO FORD CORPORATE WHO TOLD ME THEY WOULD "LIKELY" MAKE AN EXCEPTION AND TO BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE. DEALER CONFIRMED THE ISSUE, CALLED FORD CORPORATE TO CONFIRM IT WOULD BE COVERED AND THEY DENIED IT. COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME, AND SHOCKING THAT FORD DOESN'T DO A RECALL FOR SUCH A DANGEROUS ISSUE. ONLY THIS TIME IT KEPT HAPPENING ABOUT EVERY 15 TO 20 MIN. IT IS AT THE FORD DEALER NOW AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT HAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THEY ARE REPLACING SO MANY RIGHT NOW THAT THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND I MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT 3 OR 4 WEEKS. STEVEN KENNER, GLOBAL DIRECTOR, WHO FEELS THAT THERE IS NO UNREASONABLE RISK, PLACE HIS FAMILY INTO THESE FORD VEHICLES AND LET THESE VEHICLE STOP ON THEM AT NIGHT, OR ON THE EXPRESSWAY, OR WHERE EVER THEY MAY BE. IT IS EXTREMELY RIDICULOUS THAT A SEMI-NEW CAR THAT BARELY HAS MILES ON IT WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS. AS OF THE DATE, OF MY COMPLAINT, I AM LOOKING AT 907 COMPLAINTS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT SEEMED TO LOOSE POWER AND WAS IDLING ROUGH. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, OPENED THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING AND RUNNING ROUGH. VEHICLE WAS ONLY GOING A COUPLE MILES AN HOUR AS DRIVER TRIED TO MAKE IT BACK TO HIS MOTEL, WHEN THE VEHICLE JUST TURNED OFF. DRIVER LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, AND IT STARTED UP. THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN BUT IT HAS EXTREMELY LIMITED POWER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAILED THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. HAD TO WAIT TWO WEEKS FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE. *TR
THIS IS A COMPLAINT FOR AN ISSUE THAT HAS AN EXISTING PRELIMINARY EVALUATION - NHTSA PE13003. I PURCHASED A 2010 FORD FUSION SEL IN JULY 2010. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. IN MAY OF 2013, WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, MY VEHICLE APPEARED TO STALL AS I WAS TURNING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL POWERED, MY ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR ACCELERATE TO SPEEDS OVER 5 MPH WAS INSTANTLY REMOVED. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE CAR, WHICH DROVE NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ACROSS TOWN TO MEET THE PERSON PROVIDING ME A RIDE TO AND FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP. OVER THE COURSE OF AN HOUR, MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS 4 SEPARATE TIMES WHILE TRYING TO GET TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED TO ME THE NEXT AY THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED, AT A COST OF $486. NONE OF THE COST WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THAT I WOULD BE ADVISED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE IMMEDIATELY AS THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT PART WAS IN SHORTAGE NATIONWIDE, AND THE DEALERSHIP ONLY HAD 1 ON HAND. I HAD THE PART REPLACED, AND THE VEHICLE HAS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY SINCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC VEHICLE SUDDENLY SEEMED TO LOSE DRIVE POWER. WRENCH LITE CAME ON AS I TRIED MY BEST TO MOVE OUT OF HARMS WAY.DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS ENOUGH WITHOUT THIS EXCITING VEHICLE FAILURE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS IS THE LIMP-HOME MODE WHICH ONE ENCOUNTERS WHEN A THROTTLE BODY HAS MALFUNCTIONED. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS OF THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT IS CLEAR UPON INTERNET RESEARCH THAT THIS IS OCCURRING FAR TOO OFTEN. WHEN MY FORD SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ON MY 37 MONTH OLD CAR I LEFT IN DISGUST. I THEN HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED BY A REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP FOR THE SUM OF $350. I TRUST NHTSA WILL FIND THAT THIS IS A REAL DANGER AND INSIST UPON A RECALL OR INFORMATION NOTICE TO ALL OWNERS. I CAN'T BELIEVE FORD HASN'T DONE THIS ON THEIR OWN ACCORD. *TR
THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AND STALLED. RESTARTED AND THE CONDITION RECURRED APPROXIMATELY IN 3 OR 4 MILES. AGAIN, I TURNED THE KEY OFF THEN RESTARTED AND AGAIN, THE CONDITION REPEATED AFTER SEVERAL MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND NO CODE WAS AVAILABLE FOR THE MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE. THE CONDITION DID NOT REOCCUR FOR SIX WEEKS AND RESURFACED AGAIN WITH IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS. RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THIS TIME THEY AFFIRMED THE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME BECAUSE OF HIGH DEMAND EXHAUSTED THE AVAILABILITY OF THE UNIT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP. THERE WAS NO INDICATION AT ALL THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG PRIOR TO THE DECELERATING AND SHAKING. THE RAPID DECELERATION CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND ME TO HAVE TO SWERVE INTO THE OTHER LANE TO AVOID HITTING ME. I HIT THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS TO WARN DRIVERS BEHIND ME AND WITH SOME DIFFICULTLY (DUE TO THE SHAKING) WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE I WAS SAFELY OUT OF TRAFFIC I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAITED A MOMENT TO CALM MYSELF AS IT WAS FRIGHTENING TO HAVE NO CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE ON A BUSY STREET. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE DASH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON AND THE CAR PERFORMED NORMALLY. WHEN I GOT BACK TO MY OFFICE I LOOKED FOR SIMILAR INCIDENT ON THE WEB AND WAS HORRIFIED TO FIND HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE VERY SAME THING. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. HAVING NO CONTROL OF THE SPEED OF A VEHICLE IS LIFE THREATENING. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IT WOULD VERY LIKELY HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD DIAGNOSE IT AND FIX THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PART THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM - WHAT GUARANTEE IS THERE THAT THE NEW PART WILL NOT DO THE SAME THING. I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT AFTER ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM FORD DOES NOT THINK IT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO RECALL OR AT THE VERY LEAST WARN THEIR FUSION OWNERS! *TR
MULTIPLE TIMES ENGINE JUST WOULD DIE AND RESTART AFTER PULLING OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTARTING. I JUST CHUCKED IT UP TO BAD GAS AS WE HAVE HAD A SLEW OF REPORTS ON THIS IN MY AREA. ON WED JUNE 12TH WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH IN BUSY TRAFFIC I IN THE MIDDLE OF 3 LANES IT DECIDES TO AGAIN LOOSE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND IDLE...NO WHERE TO GO CARS ZOOMING UP ON ME AND HONKING AND SLAMMIN ON THERE BRAKES!. I PULL OVER FINALLY AND TURN KEY OFF AND RESTARTS EASILY. UPON GETTIN OFF INTERSTATE IT CONTINUES TO STALL AT WILL. PULLED INTO AUTOZONE AND HAVE IT CHECKED FOR ERROR CODE AND SAID WAS FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. UPON LOOKING UP ON LINE I WAS AMAZED THAT THIS IS SO COMMON WITH THE MOTOR TRENDS CAR OR THE YEAR IN 2010! AND STILL NO RECALL FROM FORD! I FEEL THIS IS AS BIG SAFETY ISSUE! WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS INTO A MERGE SITUATION? OR TURNIN INTO HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC???? PLEASE HELP. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING APPROX 60 MPH IN CROWDED TRAFFIC WHEN SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR STALLED AND LOST ITS POWER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO GUIDE THE CAR SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE WRENCH LIGHT DID COME ON. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE AND JUST PRIOR TO CALLING ROAD ASSISTANCE, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR. IT DID SO SUCCESSFULLY AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. FOR TWO DAYS, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ATTEMPTED TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. NO DTC WAS PRODUCED. HOWEVER, AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION AND RESEARCH, THEY WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SO FAR, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED. *TR
WAS RIDING ON INTERSTATE WHEN CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO MOVE TO SHOULDER TO AVOID HITTING ME. I PULLED OVER TO SHOULDER TURNED OFF ENGINE AND STARTED BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEM. WENT TO AUTO PLACE TO GET IT CHECKED THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT CHECK WITHOUT ENGINE LIGHT ON. CAR RAN FINE UNTIL 6/21/13, GOING 45 MPH AND CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I PULLED ON SIDE OF ROAD RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE BUT ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. WENT TO AUTO PLACE TO GET CHECKED AND IT GAVE A CODE OF P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK OPEN. AFTER RESEARCHING CODE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I KEEP THINKING ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THAT INTERSTATE. NOW I AVOID THE INTERSTATE UNTIL I CAN AFFORD REPAIRS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG ON A NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND IDLED REALLY ROUGH. WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE GAS PEDAL, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DUE TO VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC AND CUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT. IT WORKED AT THAT TIME, BUT SINCE THEN HAS DONE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED, IT WOULD HAPPEN EVERYTIME I STARTED THE CAR FOR ABOUT 4-5 TIMES, BEFORE THE CAR FINALLY STAYED ON, AND I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. LUCKILY EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED, TRAFFIC WAS SLOW, BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO THIS SITUATION AND HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE OTHER OCCURRENCES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS AND QUICK BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED FROM THIS. *TR
CAR STARTED JERKING AND THE THROTTLE LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LOST POWER AND ACCELERATION. HAD DIFFICULTY MANEUVERING IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS FAILED THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *TR
