TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER WAITING A FEW MOMENTS THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE MALFUNCTION RECURRED TWO TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THIS CAR HAS A TENDENCY ON STALLING BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. *TR
ON JUNE 12TH 2013 MY 2010 FORD FUSION LOST ALL POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. TOTAL MILES ON VEHICLE 50008. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE AND I WAS FORCED TO TOW THE CAR. IT WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. THE COST OF THIS WAS OUT OF POCKET AT THIS POINT. PARTS AND LABOR TOTALING $409 PAID IN FULL AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD BY FORD REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP TO KEEP THE RECEIPT FOR A POTENTIAL AND LIKELY RECALL. UNDER FORDS ?CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM? THEY SUPPOSEDLY MAILED OUT LETTERS TO AFFECTED CUSTOMERS IN EARLY 2014 FOR WARRANTY EXTENSIONS AND POTENTIAL REFUNDS. HOWEVER I DIDN'T RECEIVE ANYTHING FROM FORD EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD MY CORRECT MAILING ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER. FORD WAS AWARE OF MY WARRANTY CLAIM AT THE TIME AS I CONTACTED THEM BY PHONE ON 06/13/2013. ON 10/01/2014 I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY VIA PHONE AFTER I READ A NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT THE ?CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM". I WAS INFORMED AT THIS POINT BY A CSR AND A SUPERVISOR THAT THEY COULD NO LONGER HELP ME BECAUSE DEADLINE DATE FOR REFUNDS WAS 07/31/2014. I FEEL THIS IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO ME THE CONSUMER. I WAS FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A DEFECTIVE PART THAT FORD WAS COMPLETELY AWARE OF EVEN BEFORE MY ISSUE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR FORD. WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND LOST ALL POWER TO MY VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY TRAVELING ROUGHLY 35 MPH AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE RESULTS IF I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT TOWARDS FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT WAS PROVIDED TO ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE. THE CONTACT SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED AS IT FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PART CAUSED FIVE PROBLEMS. ONCE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL. THE CONSUMER STATED THROTTLE BODY WOULD FAIL AT ANY SPEED, AND THE ENGINE WOULD JUST IDLE.
THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM; I WAS ACCELERATING GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE ENGINE QUIT. I HAD TO PUT IT PARK AND RESTART IT, IN TRAFFIC. THIS SAME ISSUES HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES, THE CAR JUST QUIT WHILE DRIVING. ON JULY 27TH, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ALONG WITH A NEW ISSUE: I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT STARTED RUNNING RUFF AND SHUT ITSELF OFF. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE. *TR
WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY CAR STARTED JERKING AND RUNNING REALLY ROUGH. THEN IT JUST WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER AS I KEPT TRYING TO GIVE IT THE GAS. LUCKILY I ARRIVED AT WORK. THINKING I HAD RECEIVED SOME BAD GAS AND IT WOULD PASS, BUT IT JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE. NOW I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF IT STOPPING AND I WOULD BE STRANDED. *TR
STARTED INDICATED "POWER STEERING FAULT IN PARKING LOT. POWER STEERING INOPERATIVE. DASH BOARD. SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED STEERING NOW FINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FIFTH AND SIXTH GEAR SLIPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THIS IS MY SECOND REPORT ON THE POWER STEERING RACK FAILURE. THIS LAST RACK (NUMBER 3) WAS ALSO A SALVAGE PART. LASTED SIX WEEKS, INSTALLED ON APRIL 26TH, 2013. FAILURE SEQUENCE IS THE SAME: SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK, SERVICE POWER STEERING, SHUTOFF CAR, SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, NO POWER STEERING. PLEASE FIX THIS [XXX]. IT IS NOT SAFE OR RELIABLE. THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION CAUSED THE FORD FUSION TO STALL EVERY COUPLE BLOCKS. HAD TO TOW IT TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED. *TR
JUNE 10TH, 2013 THE CAR DECREASE FROM 45 TO 5 MILES WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN CROSSING TWO LANES OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I SWITCHED OFF CAR AND RESTARTED. LIGHT DISAPPEARED. WE PUT A CALL INTO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND REPORTED TO FORD MOTOR. NO REPLY BACK FROM STAMFORD DEALERSHIP. LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR HOME. *TR
WAS DRIVING INTERSTATE SPEEDS AND VEHICLE SHUT DOWN, WRENCH SYMBOL CAME ON DASH BOARD. HAS HAPPENED 3-5 TIMES SINCE, IN TRAFFIC OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER (ENGINE MISSING). REPLACEMENT COST OF IGNITION COIL $330.00. ONE MONTH LATER THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACING FOR $440.00. THESE ARE APPARENTLY BOTH COMMON PROBLEMS WITH FORD. *TR
PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND MY CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND BEGAN TO SHUDDER WHEN I GOT IT TO THE SHOULDER. TURNED IT OFF, AND BACK ON: NO ISSUE. LESS THAN 40 YARDS DOWN THE ROAD IT DID IT AGAIN. TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE, THE ONLY CODE THAT CAME UP WAS THAT MY "FUEL DOOR STUCK OPEN". WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE, BECAUSE IT CAME WITH A "RACING CAP" I.E NO TWIST-OFF CAP. DROVE FINE FOR TWO MONTHS, THEN CAME BACK SOMETHING AWFUL TO THE TUNE OF FREEWAY 75MPH TO ZERO, AT WHICH POINT IT WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AND BARELY MADE IT HOME DUE TO NUMEROUS STALLS. JUST HAD TO REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ON A 3-YEAR OLD CAR. RIDICULOUS FORD. ALSO, MY DRIVERS' SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE OUT OF NOWHERE. *TR
WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN 4 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN CAR STALLED AND DIED DUE TO BAD THROTTLE BODY. CARS BEHIND HER HAD TO CHANGE LANES, ONE TRUCK HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES. THE RED WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I'VE HEARD OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE VERY SAME ISSUE WITH NOTHING BEING DONE. I'M REPORTING NOW BECAUSE I'VE GOT ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE LEAK. ALSO ANOTHER ISSUE I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS ON. I BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT HAVE BEEN OUT $200 FOR DEDUCTIBLE. THESE ARE ISSUES THAT FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND MAKE RECALLS. THE BAD THING IS I'VE HAD TO WAIT FOR THE PARTS BOTH TIMES BECAUSE ITS SUCH A BAD ISSUE THAT EVERYTHING IS ON BACKORDER. PLEASE GET THESE THINGS TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. MY WIFE WAS VERY CLOSE TO GETTING HIT BY A BIG TRUCK. I THINK PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN OUT MONEY FOR THESE THINGS SHOULD ALSO GET REFUNDED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON BOTH ISSUES. THANK YOU.. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SHOOK AND THERE WAS A BEEP AND THEN MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED LOSING SPEED FAST. WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A FEW HUNDRED YARDS WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAINST THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WITH IN 30 MINUTES TOLD ME WAS THE THROTTLE BODY INTAKE WITH AN ERROR CODE OF P2111. COULD HAVE GOTTEN BAD QUICKLY. *TR
LOSS OF POWER ON INTERSTATE GOING 60 MPH AFTER 1.5 HOUR DRIVE. WEATHER: SUNNY, UPPER 70'S. THROTTLE CONTROL LOST. CHANGING ACCELERATOR POSITION HAS NO EFFECT ON RPMS. GAS TANK 3/4 FULL. ENGINE STILL RUNNING, COASTED OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER. ENGINE VIBRATED A LOT BUT MAY HAVE BEEN ANTILOCK BRAKES KICKING IN. TURNED OFF ENGINE. A FEW MINUTES LATER STARTED AGAIN, BUT IT WOULDN'T START AT FIRST. RECENTLY HAD 50000 MILE SERVICE. SYMPTOMS CONSISTENT WITH THOSE REPORTED IN THE PRESS FOR FORD FUSION PROBLEMS WITH THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. SAFETY ISSUE MAKES IT A SCARY SITUATION ON INTERSTATES ESPECIALLY WHERE THERE IS NO IMMEDIATE PLACE TO PULL OVER (MILES OF CONSTRUCTION, FOR EXAMPLE) WITH HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 45 MPH WHEN VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND THE ENGINE SHUDDERED TO A STOP. INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATIONS WERE A "WRENCH" AND STEADY ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND THE CAR AND DRIVE A MILE TO MY HOME THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE NEXT DAY, HOWEVER ABOUT 1.5 MI. FROM HOME THE SAME EXACT INDICATIONS AND CONDITIONS RETURNED WHEN I ACCELERATED FROM 45 TO 50 MPH. AGAIN THE "WRENCH" AND ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. A RESTART ALLOWED ME TO DRIVE HOME DURING WHICH TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED STEADY. THE CONDITION RECURRED AN ADDITIONAL TWO TIMES DURING THE SHORT DRIVE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR ON MONDAY. I WAS NOT TOLD OF THE EXTENSIVE HISTORY OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT WAS ONLY ADVISED THAT THE "THROTTLE BODY" WAS CARBONNED UP" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR CLEANED, THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THROTTLE BODIES WERE ON BACKORDER AND SAID THEY CLEANING MINE SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I ELECTED TO HAVE THEM CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER THE MAINTENANCE WAS ALLEGEDLY COMPLETED I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, WHEN, WITHIN ONLY 1/2 MI. OF THE DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE AGAIN EXPERIENCED THE SAME NEAR TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE ENGINE. I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON A VERY BUSY THOROUGHFARE TO RETURN TO THE DEALER WHEN THE CAR DIED AGAIN LEAVING ME THE MIDDLE OF FOUR LANES OF OPPOSING, FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC. I FELT VERY UNSAFE. AFTER A BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH I DISCOVERED THIS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH MY VEHICLE AND I SUSPECT IT IS MORE WIDESPREAD THAN WHAT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DATE. *TR
VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AND VIRTUALLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO LAMARQUE FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. LAST WEEK, I WAS AGAIN GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME I HAVE 40300 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE PARTS WARRANTY WAS ONLY GOOD FOR A YEAR. IN ADDITION, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND IT WILL TAKE 2 TO 3 WEEKS FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE PART. THIS IS VERY WELL KNOWN WITH THIS CAR AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR SINCE IT JUST COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND HESITATES TO START BACK UP. IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MANY TIMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MODERATELY TRAVELED ROAD, MY VEHICLE LOST POWER WHERE WHEN I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR (NOTHING HAPPENED). I WAS ABLE TO GET PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SOME WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY DASH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT SEEMED TO BE OKAY (NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH) AND I PROCEEDED HOME. THE FOLLOWING MORNING IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL AWAY FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A BUSIER ROAD. I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED RESTARTING IT. ONCE I GOT IT RESTARTED, I HEADED STRAIGHT FOR THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS BEING THE THROTTLE BODY. MY ISSUE IS THAT IT CAN COMPLETELY CATCH THE DRIVER OFF GUARD AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE IS NOT VERY OLD AND THE MANUFACTURER SEEMS TO BE CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE PART (ONLY SO MANY RELEASED AT A TIME). IT TOOK OVER A WEEK TO GET MY CAR BACK FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AS READ IN FORUMS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THE ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 60 MPH, MY 2010 FORD FUSION UNEXPECTEDLY LOST POWER AND SUDDENLY SLOWED. IT DID NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I HAD TO PUT ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND COAST TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE OTHER CARS AND TRUCKS TRAVELING FAST WERE COMING UP ON ME. AFTER I PULLED OFF, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT RAN OKAY FOR A WHILE. HOWEVER, THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. *TR
LIKE MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS I READ ON- LINE AND WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM MYSELF A 55 YEAR OLD FEMALE, I WAS DRIVING AND ALL THE SUDDEN MY ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT HAD NO ACCELERATION THE PEDAL WAS WORTHLESS, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING SLAMMED INTO BY OTHER CARS AND THEN WHEN I CAME TO COMPLETE STOP THE CAR STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY AND THEN THE ENGINE DIED. I PUT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF IGNITION THEN I RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A FEW MILES THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD TO RESTART 4 TIMES TO MAKE IT HOME AND I WAS LUCKY TO BE IN MY HOME TOWN WHEN THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE I MAKE A LOT OF TWO HUNDRED MILE TRIPS. I GOOGLED ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT OTHER OWNERS OF THIS LEMON VEHICLE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD DEALERSHIP WANTED CLOSE TO $700.00 TO DIAGNOSE AND REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, PARTS AND LABOR. I'M RECENTLY DIVORCED AND UNEMPLOYED AND COULD NOT AFFORD THIS RIDICULOUS AMOUNT FOR SOMETHING THAT TAKES LESS THEN 10 MIN. TO CHANGE, I BOUGHT A NEW ONE FOR $172.00 AND DID IT MYSELF COULDN'T BE EASIER. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR NOT RECALLING ALL VIN NUMBERS MINE WASN'T INCLUDED IN RECALL, THANK GOD SOMEONE POSTED ON UTUBE HOW TO CHANGE IT. SHAME ON FORD THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HOPE NO ONE GETS KILLED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVING AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEED - 25-30 MPH - AND CAR LURCHED TO SLOW SPEED - COULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. HAD TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, TURN VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART. DROVE 50 YARDS AND PROBLEM RECURRED. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN, FORTUNATELY NOT ON THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I CALLED THE FORD DEALER. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $500 FOR REPAIR AS VEHICLE WAS 3 MONTHS OUT OF 36 MONTH WARRANTY. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY EVENING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (65MPH) WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND WRENCH ICON CAME ON. COULD NOT ACCELERATE BUT THANKFULLY ABLE TO COAST ACROSS TWO LANES ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT RUSH HOUR TO GET TO SHOULDER! CAR WAS JERKING AS IT CAME TO A STOP. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, TURNED ENGINE BACK ON AND CAR WAS OK AGAIN. UNFORTUNATELY THIS WASN'T THE FIRST TIME; THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 5 OTHER INSTANCES. FIRST TIME WAS APPROX 9 MONTHS AGO (BEFORE WARRANTY WAS UP). BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER, THEY PLUGGED IT INTO THEIR COMPUTER AND GOT NO ERROR CODES SO "NO PROBLEM" DETECTED. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MILES AN HOUR THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD BARLEY MOVE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TWO BLOCKS TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND FOUND OUT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY SO MUCH SO THAT THE PARTS ARE ON A TWO MONTH BACK ORDER UNLESS THEY ORDER UNDER AN EMERGENCY CONDITION THEN IT STILL TAKES TWO WEEKS. I AM WONDERING WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL BY FORD BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED? I AM NOW HAVING TO PAY OVER $500.00 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 70 MILES AN HOUR, SOUTHBOUND IN THE HOV LANE OF I-95 NEAR EXIT 2B IN ALEXANDRIA VA. THE AREA IS A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH BARRICADES ON EITHER SIDE OF THE TWO LANE HOV FACILITY. SUDDENLY, AND ABRUPTLY, I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND HAD TO COAST TO A STOP IN A MANNER THAT BLOCKED THE RIGHT LANE OF THE HOV FACILITY. THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING IN A ROUGH IDLE, AND THE ENGINE/WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR (SHUTTING OFF AND TURNING THE CAR BACK ON TRYING A VARIETY OF SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO N OR P). THE CAR WOULD RUN, BUT ALWAYS AT A ROUGH IDLE WITH NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. DURING THIS TIME, THERE WERE SEVERAL NEAR REAR-END COLLISIONS DUE TO MOTORISTS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED BEFORE ENCOUNTERING MY COMPLETELY STOPPED VEHICLE. REALIZING THE PERIL I WAS IN, I QUICKLY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND HOPPED THE CONSTRUCTION BARRICADE. I CALLED 911 DUE TO THE DANGER OF THE SITUATION AND IT TOOK AROUND 25 MINUTES FOR THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE VEHICLE TO ARRIVE. AFTER THE ENGINE COOLED, THE ISSUE SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF, AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS MADE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS WITHIN 90 SECONDS OF ME DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS THE PROBLEM. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS ISSUE IS EXTREMELY COMMON AND WELL KNOWN TO FORD. THE ISSUE IS SO PERVASIVE THAT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER ON THE PART WITH A LEAD-TIME OF MORE THAN 2 WEEKS. I WAS ANGERED TO LEARN THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE YET HAS NOT SENT NOTICE OF THE PROBLEM OR A RECALL AND IS CHARGING CUSTOMERS FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I AM ANGERED OF THE PERIL THAT I WAS PLACED IN WHEN THIS KNOWN ISSUE IMPACTED ME IN ONE OF THE WORST POSSIBLE PLACES TO HAVE IT HAPPEN. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE IF MY KIDS WERE IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING DOWN A STREET ON MY WAY TO WORK AT ABOUT 35-37 MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST STARTED SPUTTERING. I WAS ON A ROAD WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND NO SIDEARM. I STOPPED THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT. I MADE IT ABOUT 1 MILE FURTHER BEFORE IT DID THE SAME THING. I WAS ON PINS AND NEEDLES ALL DAY DRIVING IT. IT HAPPENED ABOUT A WEEK LATER AFTER NO FURTHER INCIDENT FROM THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. I TOOK IT IN TO A FORD DEALER WHO IDENTIFIED IT AS A THROTTLE PROBLEM. COST ME $500 SINCE IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY FOR MY CAR. UNACCEPTABLE OCCURRENCE. I BOUGHT A 2010 FORD FUSION, 4 MONTHS AGO IN MARCH, 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE THE CAR BEGAN SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING, THE PROBLEM WAS ONLY HAPPENING EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT HAS PROGRESSED MORE AND MORE TO THE POINT THAT I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE AT ALL. ON A SECOND INCIDENT, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE SITTING AT IDLE, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A PROBLEM BUT CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. ON A THIRD INCIDENT THE CAR LOST THROTTLE WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES PER HOUR. DEALER INDICATED (BASED ON COMPUTER CODES) THE NEED FOR A REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY FROM ANOTHER HIGHWAY. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH SO I COULD MERGE INTO FLOWING TRAFFIC. I WAS ABOUT TO MERGE INTO THE TWO LANES ON MY RIGHT AS THE TWO LANES I WAS COMING FROM WERE ENDING. AS I WAS ABOUT TO MERGE INTO THE LANE ON MY RIGHT MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. I STAYED IN MY LANE WHICH WAS QUICKLY COMING TO AN END. I PUT ON MY 4 WAY FLASHERS TO ALERT THE OTHER CARS I HAD AN ISSUE. I STAYED LEFT UNTIL I NOTICED THE CARS ON MY RIGHT WERE AWARE THAT I NEEDED TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR FELT AS IF IT WAS SHUTTERING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. THE SERVICE LIGHT WAS NOW OFF AND THE SHUTTERING WAS GONE. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC IT DID NOT GIVE ANY CODES. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIMES. THE LAST TIME ENGAGING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MY MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO PULL A CODE AND IT IDENTIFIED THE THROTTLE BODY. MY MECHANIC CONTACTED FORD WHO WILL NOT COVER A REPLACEMENT PART AT THIS TIME, BUT STATED THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAVE 17,000 PARTS ON BACK ORDER. *TR
TRAVELING ON I-40 EAST OF NASHVILLE THE ENGINE QUIT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED TRYING TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS THE 8TH TIME IN 14 DAYS THIS HAS HAPPENED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY "CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY", THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED 13 DAYS AGO. I LIMPED THE CAR OFF OF I-40 TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MT. JULIET, TN. THEY DIAGNOSED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AND SAID THE CAR COMPUTER COULD NOT TELL THE POSITION OF THE THROTTLE AND SHUT THE ENGINE TO IDLE. VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AT SPEED ON A MULTI LANE HIGHWAY. THEY PERFORMED SOME MAINTENANCE AND NOW I SEE ON MY BILL A STATEMENT THAT SAYS "MAY NEED THROTTLE BODY IF CONCERN HAPPENS AGAIN" IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE 4TH OF JULY 2013, ON THE EXPRESSWAY GOING 70 MPH. THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE OVER TWO LANES AND GET ON THE SHOULDER. THE CAR BUCKED AND COUGHED A FEW TIMES AND WE TURNED IT OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO START AGAIN AND GO HOME, ALL OF US VISIBLY SHAKEN AND NOW VERY ANGRY AT THE DEALER. *TR

I DECIDED TO TRY ONE MORE TIME TO TRY TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM (LESS THAN 15 MILES FROM MY WORK). IT STARTED ONCE MORE, A LITTLE EASIER, BUT STILL NOT "RIGHT." THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, BUT I WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT AND START DRIVING. I MADE IT ABOUT 6-7 MILES, AND ONCE AGAIN, I LOST ALL ACCELERATION IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. I WAS ABLE TO PUTTER OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AT AN EXTREMELY LOW SPEED. I ONCE AGAIN PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND TRIED ONE MORE TIME TO START MY CAR. ONCE AGAIN, IT STARTED VERY HARD, BUT IT ALLOWED ME TO DRIVE. I DROVE THE REMAINING 6-7 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE PART, I WAS TOLD, IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER, AND AM WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 57,000 MILES ON IT AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS. [BOUGHT DECEMBER 2010, INCIDENT OCCURRED JUNE 2013]. I EVEN PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THIS PARTICULAR REPAIR IS CONVENIENTLY NOT COVERED BY IT. *TR
AT 1605 WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CAR LOST FORWARD MOTION AND STALLED. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, WHICH WAS SLOW, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE NEXT MORNING AT 0645, DRIVING 45MPH, THE CAR AGAIN LOST POWER/FORWARD MOTION, STALLED AND WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT. BOTH TIMES THE CAR WAS RESTARTED, THE WRENCH LIGHT DISAPPEARED. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND CANNOT FIND AN ERROR CODE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 10-11 MODELS BASED ON FORUMS ONLINE FROM CUSTOMERS ACROSS THE US. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING 75MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY FAMILY AND THE CAR LOSE POWER AND GET HIT BY AN 18-WHEELER AND DIE. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY ARE 99.9% SURE IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT WILL NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE THEY CANNOT LOCATE AN ERROR CODE. IF THIS MANY CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, THEY NEED TO RECALL THIS PART AND QUICKLY! *TR

THERE IS STILL BRAKING AND STEERING TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND TO A STOP BEFORE THE CAR SHUTS OFF. WILL NOT EVEN "LIMP" HOME. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES YOU CAN START IT BACK AND CONTINUE, UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR

WE WENT A COUPLE OF MILES AND IT DID IT AGAIN. WE DECIDED IT WAS UNSAFE SO WE BROUGHT IT HOME. *TR
CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE", WITH WRENCH LIT UP ON DASH. COULD NOT GO OVER 5 MPH, AND THE CAR WAS SHUDDERING TERRIBLY. TOOK ALMOST A MONTH FOR FORD TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THE SERVICE FOLKS INDICATED IT WAS AN "EPIDEMIC" ACROSS THE US, AND THE ISSUE WAS PART AVAILABILITY DUE TO THE NUMBER OF ISSUES.
THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME AND ON JUNE 2ND IT HAPPENED TO ME 9 TIMES DURING A 20 MILE TRIP. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED/ACCELERATING/DECELERATING, THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL COME ON AND I WILL LOSE ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. I HAVE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHEN I DO THE VEHICLE SHAKES VICIOUSLY. TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON AND IT STARTS WITH A SLUGGISH START.
