ENGINE STOPPED RESPONDING TO ACCELERATOR AND ONLY COASTED. ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. UNABLE TO MOVE CAR FORWARD OTHER THAN COAST. ENGINE ROUGH IDLED BUT WOULD NOT RESPOND. ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN TRAFFIC. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR JERKED AND THE RPMS DROPPED AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE WRENCH LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND STARTED THE CARE AGAIN. NO LIGHTS WERE ON SO I GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY (ROUGHLY 15 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS) AND SOMETIMES THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, SOMETIMES IT'S THE ENGINE LIGHT AND SOMETIMES IT'S THE BATTERY LIGHT. THIS OCCURS NO MATTER THE SPEED, NO MATTER THE TEMPERATURE, NO MATTER THE NUMBER OF THINGS USING THE BATTERY (BECAUSE THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON A FEW TIMES). IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM AND GOT IT TO THE SHOP TO TELL US IT WAS CODE P2111, SOMETHING WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. IT NEEDS REPLACED, SO THEY SAY - BUT IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. *TR
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, I HEARD A 'POP', AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR IDLED ROUGHLY, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE 'WRENCH' WARNING ICON LIT ON THE DASH AS WELL. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND TRIED TO RESTART IT. IT STARTED AND RAN CORRECTLY AFTER THAT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIMES SINCE THEN. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED NO CODES SHOWING AFTER HOOKING IT TO THEIR COMPUTER. *TR
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE, AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES PER HOUR THE ENGINE LOST RPM, WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AND CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL. AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. REPEATED RESTARTS OF THE ENGINE MET WITH LOW RPM AND SURGING ENGINE CONDITIONS WHICH WOULD NOT "SETTLE DOWN" BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. AFTER LEAVING THE ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CAUTIOUSLY DRIVE IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY - TOMORROW, JUNE 3RD). THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM WHICH PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 19, 2013. [SEE NHTSA ODI REFERENCE NUMBER 10500133]. *TR
6-1-13,2010 FORD FUSION WITH 4 CYL. APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THEN CUT OUT. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND PULLED OFF. TRIED TO RESTART CAR, RESTARTED ON SECOND TRY. RAN FINE THE 20 MILES BACK HOME. SAME THING OCCURRED ON 6-4-13. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45 MPH AND THE ENGINE STALLED. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS BUT I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT TWO MILES AND DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I FOUND OUT THROUGH FORD THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND EVEN THE DEALERSHIP ADMITTED IT WAS BECOMING A BIG PROBLEM. THE PART IS BACK ORDERED FOR A MONTH AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. FORD SHOULD ADMIT THE PROBLEM AND RECALL THE PART BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY HURT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN THE CAR LURCHED AND THE GAS PEDAL QUIT RESPONDING. I HAD TO STOP THE CAR - THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, TURN IT OFF AND THEN RESTART IT. THIS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND A LARGE TRUCK ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THREE TIMES ON THE WAY TO WORK ONE MORNING AND ONCE WHERE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER FOR ME TO PULL OFF ON. THIS WAS DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN TO FIX IT, BUT PROBABLY NOT UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF JUNE - THIS LEAVES ME WITHOUT A VEHICLE. THIS MUST BE A BAD PROBLEM WHEN THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT A COVERED REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING ICON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VACUUM SOLENOID HAD FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENGINE VACUUM SOLENOID HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
STARTING IN JUNE 2013 MY VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING AS I WAS DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON I95 AT 70 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND DECELERATED RAPIDLY. I HAD TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS I COULD AND TURN THE CAR OFF, TURN IT BACK ON. BY THE TIME I GOT IT FIXED ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2013 IT WAS HAPPENING UP TO 10 - 20 TIMES PER DAY! I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT BECAUSE THE BASIC WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE REPAIRS WERE MY RESPONSIBILITY. I WENT ON LINE AND SAW THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF FORD OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE PAID AND MY VEHICLE IS FIXED BUT THIS IS A LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE - I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SO MANY TIMES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AS WELL AS IT STALLING DURING A LEFT HAND TURN WHERE I HAD TO TURN IT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND TURN IT BACK ON. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A STRONG GASOLINE FUEL ODOR. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE CONTACT WOULD ONLY REFUEL THE VEHICLE TO HALF FULL TO AVOID A FUEL LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V227000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
FUEL CAP CODES, EMISSION CONTROL CODES AND THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL CODE ARE NOW ON ALL THE TIME. I HAD TAKEN IT BACK TO FORD, BUT LIGHT HAD WENT OUT AT THE TIME. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CODES DO NOT LOG IN ECM. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD HOOK UP EQUIPMENT, THERE WOULD BE NO CODES AND THE COST $90.00. I LEFT. ON A SHORT TRIP THIS WEEKEND WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ALL CODES STAYING ON AND NEW ONE FOR THROTTLE WHEN CRUISE WOULD NOT SET. I STOPPED AT AUTOZONE AND THEY COULD PRINT OUT STORED CODES. THEY ARE P0455, P0457,P2119. THEY HAVE PERFORMED AND THROTTLE RECALL ONCE AND I HAVE A LETTER FROM FORD ABOUT A RECALL, BUT NO RESPONSE AS OF YET. AS OF TODAY THE DASH SERVICE WRENCH HAS RESET. THE PROBLEMS START OVER A YEAR AGO ON TRIPS TO FLA. BUT LIGHTS ALWAYS SEAMED TO RESET AFTER SEVERAL KEY RECYCLES. FRONT DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED WHILE OPENING CAR DOOR IN USUAL MANNER. DOOR WILL NO LONGER OPEN USING HANDLE, NOR WILL DOOR LOCK USING EITHER HANDLE OR KEYRING REMOTE. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK GOING ABOUT 60 MPH AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON UNEXPECTEDLY AND MY CAR STOPPED TAKING ANY GAS. THE THROTTLE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND I JUST BARELY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE MY CAR STOPPED COMPLETELY ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE NO ONE WAS THERE TO LOOK AT IT BECAUSE IT WAS ABOUT 6PM. WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WOULD BE ORDERED ON MONDAY. I RECEIVED A CALL MONDAY MORNING STATING THE PIECE WOULD BE IN THE NEXT EVENING AND TO DROP MY CAR OFF WEDNESDAY. I TAKE MY CAR BACK ON WEDNESDAY MORNING AND HAVE SOMEONE AT MY WORK PICK ME UP. THEY FAILED TO TELL ME THIS BEFORE LEAVING BUT THE PIECE IS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL COME IN TO BE FIXED... AFTER I WAS ALREADY AT WORK! WHAT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT COULD FAIL AND STOP ACCELERATING AT ANY MOMENT BECAUSE FORD DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS PROPERLY. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED IF THIS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND YOU HAVE PEOPLE DRIVING WITH VEHICLES THAT COULD JUST STOP WORKING AT ANY TIME AND ANY SPEED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH WARNING ICON WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION SEL WAS IN THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR TWO WEEKS FOR STALLING ON ME ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY RECENTLY. I FELT THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS AND EARLY MORNING TRAFFIC WHIZZING PAST. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND STARTED THE CAR UP AGAIN. I DROVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY TO WORK & CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT & WAS ABLE TO DROP IT OFF, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I WENT ONLINE & FOUND NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS ON THE FORD FUSION FORUM AND FOUND CASE AFTER CASE, NATIONWIDE, OF THE THROTTLE BODY & ASSEMBLY ISSUE BEING THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AS THERE HAD BEEN A "RASH OF INCIDENTS." I ASKED WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL & THEY SAID THAT IT HAS TO "RISE TO A CERTAIN LEVEL." REALLY? THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME--DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE? I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE PART WAS FINALLY REPLACED. I STILL DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE, AND I KNOW THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS OUT THERE WHO DON'T EVEN REALIZE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO MY MOTHER HOUSE TO PICK UP MY SON MY CAR SUDDENLY JUST LOST ALL POWER. IT WAS STILL RUNNING BUT NOT ACCELERATING. IT WAS VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TURNED THE CAR OFF WHEN I RESTARTED IT CAME RIGHT BACK ON AFTER THAT I HAD NO TROUBLE THAT NIGHT. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER MY SON AND I WERE HEADED HOME IT DID THIS TO ME AGAIN BUT WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR IT HAD MORE TROUBLE AND ONLY ALLOWED ME TO 100 YARD OR SO. MY MECHANIC CLEANED THE PART IT DID FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH OR SO UNTIL THIS PAST MONDAY 7/29/13. I HAVE CURRENTLY BOUGHT A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND IT HAS SEEMED TO FIX THIS CAR. FORD NEEDS TO REALIZE THIS A PROBLEM.THE CAR HAS STOPPED ON ME NUMEROUS TIME AND COULD HAVE CAUSED MANY ACCIDENT. I BEGAN LOOKING AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUES AMONG THIS CAR. ITS TIME FOR A RECALL. I MUST SAY THAT I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE A MECHANIC FOR A DAD BECAUSE I WAS QUOTED ALMOST 700 DOLLARS FOR THIS JOB AND LUCKY HE COULD DO THIS FOR FREE WITH ONLY THE COST OF THE PART. *TR
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHILE CHANGING LANES AND CAR LOST POWER; WRENCH INDICATOR DID APPEAR. THIRD INSTANCE OF THIS HAPPENING - FIRST TWO INCIDENTS OCCURRED IN FIRST YEAR OF OWNING VEHICLE; WRENCH INDICATOR DID NOT APPEAR IN THESE OCCURRENCES. VEHICLE CURRENTLY BEING SERVICED FOR THIS PROBLEM AS WELL AS RECURRING LAG IN ACCELERATION. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALSO BEEN SERVICED IN THE PAST FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES AS WELL AS: JERK AND CLUNK WHEN REVERSING, UNEXPECTED REV IN RPMS, AND SLIPPING WHEN GEARS CHANGE. THIS IS A FUSION WITH THE 6F35 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AS USUAL, DEALER HAS SAID IF THE CODE DOESN'T REGISTER OR IF THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE ISSUE WHEN OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO NOTE IT AS NO PROBLEM FOUND. *TR
WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION TO DROP CHILD OFF AT SCHOOL. CAR STARTED LUNGING FORWARD AND THEN WANTING TO DIE. FINALLY GOT IT INTO A PARKING SPACE AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS AND DIES. TOWED TO FORD DEALER, SAID IT WAS A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. COST $404.05. TWO DAYS LATER, DIED IN VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. TOWED AGAIN. NOW IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. WAS TOLD, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, THAT PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. 1200 JUST MADE AND SENT TO PACKAGING CO. MAY OR MAY NOT GET ONE OF THE PARTS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT VERY BADLY IN THIS INTERSECTION AND DEPENDING ON WHERE ONE IS WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THEY COULD END UP GETTING HIT HARD ENOUGH THAT IT MAY KILL THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE REPAIRED WHEN THE PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON 35MPH ROADWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION. ENGINE APPEARED TO BE "SHAKING". I WAS ABLE TO TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. I COASTED TO A SPACE, TURNED OFF CAR. I RESTARTED, IT APPEARED TO BE OK, AND PROCEEDED HOME. ANOTHER 1/4 TO 1/2 MILE AWAY (25 MPH), IT DID THE SAME THING. I RESTARTED, MADE IT HOME IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. I HAD CAR TOWED TO AN AUTO SHOP I HAVE USED, AND THEY DIAGNOSED "CHECK ENGINE" AS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY STATED THEY TALKED TO FORD, AND FOUND THIS WAS A BIG PROBLEM, SO MUCH THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET THE PART FOR ANOTHER MONTH. *TR
CAR QUIT ACCELERATING (DIDN'T SHUT OFF) AND RAN ROUGHLY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO EASILY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS THE REST OF THE DAY. INCIDENT HAPPENED FIVE MORE TIMES OVER THE NEXT FOUR DAYS (COULDN'T GET CAR TO THE DEALER UNTIL THEN). ON THE 4TH OF JUNE, I WAS TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I HAD TO MOVE OVER TWO LANES TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE. I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. I WAS CLOSE TO THE DEALER AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, TO GET IT THERE. I WAS INFORMED IT WAS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY AND WOULD BE TWO OR THREE WEEKS BEFORE THEY WOULD RECEIVE THE PARTS AS THEY WERE ON BACKORDER. I WAS FORTUNATE, THAT THEY EVENTUALLY RECEIVED THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE 8TH OF JUNE. IT COST $515 PLUS $220 FOR THE RENTAL CAR. I KNOW THIS REPAIR AND THE COTS ARE BETWEEN ME AND FORD, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHO ELSE TO TURN TO, IN ORDER TO EXPRESS MY FEELINGS THAT I WAS RIPPED OFF BY FORD.
THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I HAD TO DRIVE ONTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID TRAFFIC, TURN MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON, AND THEN IT RAN LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THE SECOND INCIDENT, SAME THING, I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND I HAD TO PULL OFF OF ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. EACH TIME, THE WRENCH LIGHT FLASHED ON AND THE CAR SHUTTERED AS I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER THE FOURTH TIME, SAME SCENARIO, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND HASN'T DISAPPEARED. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY FOR THE PAST 3 DAYS WITH NO LUCK GETTING IT INTO A MECHANIC FOR ANOTHER WEEK. AFTER RESEARCHING, I DISCOVERED THAT IT IS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY AND IS A VERY COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN FORD FUSIONS. THIS IS MY SECOND 2010 FORD FUSION AFTER PRAISING MY FIRST ONE FOR SAVING MY LIFE IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. HOWEVER, AFTER BEING TERRIFIED FOR STALLING OUT OF NO WHERE AND POSSIBLY BEING IN ANOTHER LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT, I AM TEMPTED TO NEVER BUY FORD AGAIN. *TR
EVERY TIME ENGINE STARTS, FORD FUSION DASH DISPLAYS TWO (2) FAULT CODES: CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM FAULT, AND CHECK REAR PARK AID. BOTH FAULT ALERTS CLEAR AFTER PRESSING CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. HOWEVER, BOTH, THE REAR PARK AID, AND THE CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. EACH PROVIDES UNIQUE AUDIBLE BUZZING ALERTS WHEN AUTO IS IN REVERSE TO WARN OF AN IMPENDING CRASH/CONTACT WITH A PERSON OR OBJECT. TWO SAFETY SYSTEM FEATURES THAT NO LONGER WORK. *TR
THIS MORNING MY WIFE TOLD ME HER CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND HAD ACTED LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS. SHE SAID WHEN SHE STOPPED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR IT WORKED FINE FOR A FEW MILES. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO MY MECHANIC. ON THE WAY THERE THE CAR WOULD GET UP TO AROUND 40 TO 45 AND THEN SEEM TO LOOSE POWER. WHEN I WOULD PULL OVER THE CAR WOULD BEGIN TO SHAKE. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN RESTART IT AND IT WOULD BE FINE FOR A WHILE. FINALLY MADE IT TO THE MECHANIC AND AFTER BEING CHECKED IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE MECHANIC SAID THEY CALLED FOR THE PARTS AND THERE WERE OVER 4,000 ON BACK ORDER. THERE WERE ABLE TO FIND ONE AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL ARRIVE IN A DAY OR SO. WITH THAT MANY ON BACK ORDER AND ALL THE COMMENTS HERE YOU WOULD THINK THIS WOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF YOU WERE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THIS HAPPENED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION (40000 MILES) SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT STALLED AND WOULD NO LONGER MOVE UNTIL IT WAS SHUT OFF AND CRANKED BACK UP. I HAD TO MANEUVER MY WAY OFF THE HIGHWAY BY COASTING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL INCIDENT. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT I HAD GOTTEN SOME BAD GAS. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IT RECENTLY STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING UNDER A RED LIGHT. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO COAST OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU ARE WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND MOVE OFF THE ROAD. YOU MUST DEPEND ENTIRELY ON COASTING TO SAFETY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING . THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WOULD POSSIBLY TAKE 8 WEEKS TO GET A NEW ONE SINCE SO MANY ARE BEING NEEDED. WHY HAS FORD NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS DANGEROUS PART? CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS WAITING AT A RED LIGHT. WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. THE CAR DID NOT STALL BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TOOK TO MIKE BASS FORD IN SHEFFIELD OH AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. TOOK APPROX 12 DAYS TO FIX. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT FORD HAD RUN OUT OF THE PART. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS REPLACED. ONE YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS CURRENTLY REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL FORWARD POWER AND ENGINE BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH. I HAD TO PULL INTO THE GRASSY MEDIAN OF A MAJOR INTERSTATE WITH TRAFFIC ALL AROUND AND MY WIFE AND 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS AGAIN ABLE TO STOP AND RESTART THE ENGINE AND CONTINUE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2010 FUSIONS. THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON THAT THE PART TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE IS ON BACK ORDER AND IT MAY BE BETWEEN 2 WEEKS AND 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING MY CAR TO START TO LOSE SPEED RAPIDLY. I WAS IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC, MAKING THIS ISSUE THAT MUCH MORE DANGEROUS. UPON RESEARCHING THIS, I FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT, BUT WILL NOT COVER UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I HAVE BECAUSE IT IS AN "EMISSIONS" PART. I PULLED OVER AS FAR AS I COULD - I IMMEDIATELY TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS. OTHER CARS WERE ALSO GOING THE SAME RATE OF SPEED. I HEARD TIRES SCREECH BUT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS AS A RESULT OF THIS - WHEN I RESTARTED THE ENGINE I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE. THIS WAS A NEAR MISS - MY SON AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED THIS NIGHT. MY GENTLEMAN FRIEND IS A FARMER. HE DROVE THE CAR HOME WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING, FOUGHT THE STEERING FOR MILES. WE WILL TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO RESET IT. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING AROUND 75 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED BUT NOT SET (YELLOW ICON, NOT GREEN). I MANEUVERED A BROAD TURN ON THE FREEWAY AT SPEED, AND THE SLIDE ICON APPEARED. THEN QUICKLY THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW MESSAGE APPEARED. I CONTINUED DRIVING FOR A MILE, EXITED THE FREEWAY AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, AND AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING SLOT, REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. IN CONDUCTING WEB RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM IS ENDEMIC WITH MANY FORD PRODUCTION YEARS AND MODELS, AND FORD HAS THUS FAR REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL, OR TO PROVIDE ANY OUT-OF-WARRANTY RELIEF. AFTER DOING SOME VERY BASIC RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND IT ISN'T BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL OR THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A MINUTE AND STARTED IT BACK UP. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS. I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN LAST YEAR AND HAD IT REPAIRED COSTING ME AROUND 800.00 WHICH I DID NOT HAVE AT THE TIME. WHILE IN HEAVY RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE 64W NEAR THE 121 MILE MARKER IN INDIANA, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER ABRUPTLY, STARTED TO RUN ROUGHLY AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THROTTLE INPUT. THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND RPMS WERE UNSTEADY, CYCLING ERRATICALLY BETWEEN 800-1,100 RPM. THIS STRETCH OF INTERSTATE IS A THREE-LANE, LONG UPHILL GRADE AND THE INCIDENT OCCURRED GOING UP THIS GRADE. I TURNED ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS, ROLLED MY WINDOW DOWN TO SIGNAL BY HAND TO OTHER DRIVERS MY INTENT AND BARELY MADE IT ACROSS THE LANES OF TRAFFIC INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. MANY OTHER DRIVERS NEEDED TO SWERVE OR BRAKE HARD TO AVOID ME DUE TO THE RAPID DECELERATION. THE SHUDDERING CONTINUED WHETHER THE VEHICLE GEAR SELECTOR WAS IN PARK, NEUTRAL, OR DRIVE. I TRIED TO CONTINUE DRIVING ON IN THE EMERGENCY LANE TO THE NEXT EXIT BUT ON THAT UPHILL GRADE THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY CAPABLE OF 2-3MPH. I DECIDED THAT I SHOULD STOP JUST SHORT OF AN EMERGENCY LANE NARROWING. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF THREE TIMES TRYING UNSUCCESSFULLY TO REMEDY THE SITUATION, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, OPENED THE HOOD, AND CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM WAS NO LONGER PRESENT. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING THEIR DIAGNOSIS. THIS WAS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND LUCKILY THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. *TR
THE WRENCH ICON LIT ON THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND HAD TO BE QUICKLY DRIVEN TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN FURTHER. VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED. VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 2 WEEKS, AND COST 900 DOLLARS. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY SINCE VEHICLE WAS JUST BEYOND 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. *TR
ON 5/22 DASHBOARD MESSAGE TO CHECK GAS INLET AFTER FUELING. AFTER DOING THAT THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY. 5/23 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK IT BY THE DEALER. 5/24 DEALER CLEARED CODES AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. 6/4 MY CAR STARTED SPUTTERING, LOST ACCELERATION WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CAR SPUTTERED SOME MORE AND SHUT OFF. SAT A MINUTE, TURNED IT BACK ON AND DROVE HOME ABOUT 2 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. 6/5 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT RECHECKED. WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO HAVE THE EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE REPLACED AND THE GAS INLET ASSEMBLY REPLACED. I OPTED TO HAVE THE EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE REPLACED BECAUSE NO WARRANTY AND COULDN'T AFFORD $700 REPAIR. 6/6, HUSBAND DROVE THE CAR HOME, ALL WAS FINE. 6/7 THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AGAIN, IT SPUTTERED AND SHUT OFF. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON BUT THEN WENT OFF. PULLED OVER, RESTARTED IT, IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 3 MILES. WITH NO WARNING, THE CAR LOST ALL POWER PULLING OUT INTO THE ROAD WAY. I COASTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THERE WAS NO LANE TO PULL OVER SO I WAS IN THE ROAD WAY. STARTED DRIVING AGAIN, CAR SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. DID THE SAME THING, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. GOT GOING AGAIN SO I COULD PULL OVER SOMEWHERE SAFER, AND GOT INTO A TURN LANE, IT SHUT OFF AND I HAD TO COAST ACROSS THE INTERSECTION TO PARK IT. VERY SCARY!! GOT CAR TOWED BACK TO FORD. 6/7 AND 6/10 MECHANIC STILL COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. 6/11 I GET A "RECOMMENDED REPAIR" EMAIL, $1800 TO REPLACED VCT SOLENOID PHASER, BOLT,VALVE COVER GASKET,FRT CRANK SEAL, DIAMOND WASHER AND CRANK BOLT,TA-30 SEALER,OIL AND FILTER. CODE P052B, SAID IT'S A TIMING ISSUE. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. WARRANTY EXPIRED, NO RECALLS AND FORD SERVICE CAN'T BE SURE THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM!! *TR
2010 FORD FUSION SE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR STOPS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY,STREET AND IN AN INTERSECTION. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR LOSES ITS ACCELERATION COMPLETELY. THE CAR WILL START TO STALL AND SHAKE.THE DEALERSHIPS CAN'T FIND OUT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. FORD WILL NOT CALL A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND FORD STATED THE PART FOR THIS VEHICLE IS ON BACK ORDER WITH NO ETA. I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LUNGE AND JERK. THE VEHICLE THEN STOPPED ACCELERATING AND WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,603.
TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STOPPED MOVING FORWARD. ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. TURNED IGNITION OFF AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED HAZARD LIGHTS ON. VEHICLES BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. I THEN TURNED THE IGNITION AND CAR STARTED. PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND VEHICLE REPEATED THE SAME PROCESS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER EXAMINED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I FELT THAT MY LIFE WAS ENDANGERED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
DRIVING AT 70 MPH, LOST POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE WRENCH ICON ON DASH ALSO LIT UP. COASTED TO STOP AND IT RAN VERY ROUGH BUT WOULDN'T MOVE. IF YOU TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT, IT WOULD RUN FOR A COUPLE OF MILES AND THEN IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. DIAGNOSTIC CODE 2111 SHOWED MEANING THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. THE FORD DEALER,[XXX] (TAMPA) REPORTED THAT FORD IS HAVING WIDESPREAD THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONS ON THE 2010, 2011 AND 2012 2.5 LITER CARS. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART IN STOCK AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT IT. THEY SAID FORD HAS ORDERED IT'S SUPPLIER TO MAKE AT LEAST 1,000 REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODIES TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM APPARENTLY FOR CARS STILL UNDER WARRANTY..
