ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON THE CONTROL PANEL. AFTER COASTING TO A STOP WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART. THIS HAS RECURRED ~10 TIMES. FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS). TO REPLACE THEY ORDERED A COMPLETE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSY.$185.41 PLUS LABOR. FORD IS UNABLE TO GET THIS REPLACEMENT PART FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS SO FAR. . *TR
1 MORNING TRAFFIC, HEAVY STOP AND GO, TOOL LIGHT CAME ON, CAR STALLED, SHAKE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. 2 ANOTHER WHEN I WAS WITH CHILDREN AND STEADY SPEED OF 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND ON FAST LANE AND CAR NO WARNINGS SHUT DOWN ACCELERATIONS AND TOOL LIGHT CAME ON. 3 DRIVING WITHOUT TRAFFIC COMING OFF A STOP LIGHT TURNING ON A MAIN STREET AND CAR SHUTS DOWN AGAIN AFTER NO WARNING . TOOL LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL. MANY OTHER INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED AND FINALLY AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS THE ISSUES THE MECHANIC HAD A CODE OD P2111 THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM WAS THE CAUSE. VERY DANGEROUS AND WHAT IS WORSE THE CAR TESTS ITSELF AND MAKES THE ISSUES GO AWAY FOR A SHORT TIME. *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED A MONTH AGO. AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR'S ENGINE SEEMED TO LOSE POWER AND WRENCH (THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION) LIGHT CAME ON. I ROLLED TO A STOP AT THE CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION, AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. IN PARK, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE SO, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER A MINUTE I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE CAR SEEMED TO RUN FINE AFTERWARDS WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT IF I SHOULD HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD NO SINCE THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. TODAY(5/22/13), THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS GOING 50 MPH AND HAD TO PULL PROMPTLY TO SHOULDER TO AVOID BEING HIT BY THE UNSUSPECTING DRIVER BEHIND ME. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GO A FEW FEET BEFORE THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I AGAIN PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SEVERAL MORE TIMES ON MY DRIVE HOME. I AM HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THERE WERE SEVERAL TIMES THAT I HAD TO QUICKLY PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND GET TO THE SHOULDER, LUCKILY NEVER CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR ## VIN FAILED ##
MY WIFE DRIVING A 2010 FORD FUSION WITH WAS DRIVING DOWN I 75 IN DETROIT AROUND 9:30 AM TO WORK, WHEN ALL SUDDEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT ( YELLOW WRENCH) STARTED BLINKING RAPIDLY. SHE COULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH IS WAS PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO GROUND. THE ENGINE STARTED SHUDDERING AND SHAKING. MY WIFE MANAGED TO STEER THE VEHICLE TOWARDS THE EXIT ON THE HIGHWAY. DRIVERS BEHIND HER STARTED TO BRAKE AS HER VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. SHE MANAGED TO TAKE THE NEXT EXIT AND PULL IN GAS STATION WHERE SHE SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER ABOUT A 5 MIN SHE STARTED THE CAR. SHE DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. SHE WENT HOME AND CALLED ME. AT HOME I PUT A CODE READER ON THE CAR AND FOUND IT HAD THE ERROR P2111. INVESTIGATING THIS FURTHER TELLS ME IT IS DUE TO FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE BODY. I CALLED THE DEALER HUNTINGTON FORD IN ROCHESTER HILLS, MI WHO WANTS ME TO BRING THE CAR FOR CHECKUP WITH SCANNER ( COSTS ABOUT $96). SINCE THE CAR HAS 58300 MILES ON IT IS NO LONGER COVERED BY FACTORY WARRANTY. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I DO SEE THERE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH 2010 FORD FUSIONS. *TR
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT AT A SPEED LESS THAN 25 MPH MY FORD FUSION 2010 STALLED AND BEGAN SLOWING DOWN DESPITE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. THE CAR WAS PUT INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED BACK ON, THE LIGHT WAS GONE AND BEGAN RUNNING NORMAL. CAR WAS THEN PARKED. AFTER 45 MINUTES THE CAR WAS STARTED AGAIN AND DRIVEN AT 25 MPH FOR ABOUT 1 MILE, AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN AND THEN TURNING ONTO A 2 LANE ROAD THE CAR ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE DESPITE PRESSING THE GAS. THE CAR WAS AGAIN TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, WITH ALL LIGHTS DISAPPEARING AND RUNNING NORMAL. I BEGAN DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD TO MOVE OUT OF TRAFFIC, THE CAR THE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM 3 MORE TIMES IN LESS THAN ONE HALF MILE. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FORD DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INFORM US THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY INFORMED US THAT THE PART NEEDED TO BE ORDER BUT DID NOT KNOW WHEN IT WOULD BE IN. LATER IN THE DAY UPON TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THEY INFORMED US THAT THIS PARTICULAR PART WAS CURRENTLY ON BACK ORDER UNTIL JUNE 18TH/ INDEFINITELY. *TR
DRIVING 45 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN CAR JUST STARTED SHAKING THEN STOPPED, GLIDED OVER TO BREAKDOWN LANE. CAR STARTED AGAIN AFTER A MINUTE OR SO WENT ON OUR WAY. NEXT DAY CAR STOPPED AGAIN, TWICE. TOOK IT INTO FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IS ON BACK ORDER BUT WE CAN CLEAN IT, THEY DID AND CHARGED $250 FOR SERVICE. WELL IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND AGAIN. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2010 FOR OUR RETIREMENT CAR, IT HAS ONLY 38000 MILES. WE ARE AFRAID TO TAKE LONG TRIPS, SO WE ARE STUCK TO HOME WITH ONLY GROCERY STORE AND OTHER RUNS. WHAT A RETIREMENT!!!!!!!!! WE TRADED IN A 2003 CROWN VICTORIA, FORD OF COURSE. MY FIRST CAR WAS A 1962, GALAXIE 500 AND HAVE HAD FORDS EVER SINCE, CAN SEND YOU PICTURES OF ALL OUR FORDS. NEVER HAD A FORD WITH A PROBLEM, EVER, TALK ABOUT SCARY, WE ARE IN OUT UPPER 60S AND DRIVING THIS CAR IS SO REALLY SCARY. WE DO NOT NEED TO HAVE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN 20 MILES FROM THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE PART BEING ON A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 33,000. THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING AS I WAS STARTING TO MOVE AFTER A STOP LIGHT. A LIGHT WENT ON THAT LOOKED LIKE A WRENCH. THE FORD DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AFTER PAYING $134.20. HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE FREEWAY ON 8/4/2013. THE FORD DEALER REPLACED A VALVE AND WE PAID $291.98. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY ON 8/25/2013. WE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND SEVERAL DRIVERS WITH THIS MODEL HAD A MALFUNTIONING THROTTLE BODY. WE TOLD THE FORD DEALER HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS REPAIR COST US $654.13.
DRIVING TO WORK, OUR 2010 FORD FUSION SPUTTERED AND STALLED. AFTER RESTARTING, THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPUTTER AND WE BROUGHT IT INTO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD DEGRADED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED AT FORD DEALERSHIPS REGULARLY AND ON-TIME. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY LAST MONTH. OUR PROBLEM APPEARS TO REFLECT THE NHTSA'S ONGOING INVESTIGATION OF FORD ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,600.
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES/HR WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO HESITATE, THEN NO ACCELERATION AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY TURNED ON MY FLASHERS AND PULLED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND SITTING THERE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY IN A JERKING MOTION WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING ICON. THE WARNING ICON REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN TIMES WHILE THE CONTACT TRAVELED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT A PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,650.
AFTER HAVING STEERING RACK REPLACED AT A COST OF $2000, I HAD DRIVEN A TOTAL OF AROUND ABOUT 350-400, APPROX. 3 DAYS AFTER HAVING GOTTEN THE CAR BACK AND I GOT THE SAME WARNING SERVICE POWER STEERING, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. I PARKED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. AS SOON AS IT WAS TURNED BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE COMPLETELY. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I THEN HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR ANOTHER WEEK WHILE ANOTHER STEERING RACK WAS PUT IN. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY DEALERSHIP SAID THAT AN ENGINEER AT FORD TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS A FAULTY COMPONENT IN THE STEERING RACK FOR THIS MODEL CAR. (STILL NO RECALL?) I GOT MY CAR BACK AFTER ANOTHER WEEK AND DROVE FOR ABOUT 250 MILES IN A TOTAL OF 4 DAYS WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AGAIN. ALL IN ALL, I HAVE OVER 3000 INVESTED IN THIS REPAIR. HAVE HAD MY CAR TOWED 3 TIMES IN 3 WEEKS. I AM SCARED TO PUT MY TODDLER IN THIS CAR. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I TURNED ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND COASTED INTO THE TURN LANE, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, I DROVE ANOTHER 3 MILES AND HAD STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND AS I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE INTO THE TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER AND VERY LITTLE TIME TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE INTO A SAFE PLACE. *TR
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE, AND THE GAS PEDAL DID NOTHING. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. I LET THE CAR REST FOR A MINUTE, THEN RESTARTED THE CAR AND DROVE WITH NO PROBLEM. MY EXPERIENCE APPEARS IDENTICAL TO THOSE WHO HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER, AND FORD DEALERS CHARGE 3 TIMES AS MUCH AS INDEPENDENT MECHANICS TO FIX IT. IT WOULD SEEM LIKE IF THE PROBLEM IS SO PERVASIVE THAT THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE BECAUSE IT IS USED SO MUCH, THIS SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. *TR
WHEN I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC LEAVING WORK, THE ENGINE WENT IDLE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. LOST ALL ACCELERATION. FROM ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, REALLY HOPE THIS GETS RESOLVED.. *TR
MY CAR'S ENGINE CUT OFF AT 70 MPH GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HARMED AS I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT WITH MY FLASHERS TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE FUSIONS. MY CAR HAS CUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN ALSO. IT'S EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS TO HAVE NO ACCELERATION IN 65 MPH TRAFFIC. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
DRIVING CAR ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THROTTLE BODY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY 4 TIMES SINCE MAY 22, 2013. THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON FOR SOME TIME AND NO WARNING LIGHTS WOULD COME ON UPON RESTART. *TR

DURING APPROXIMATELY THE FIRST YEAR OF HAVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION, 32 FORD IN BATAVIA OHIO ROTATED TIRES AND BROKE A WHEEL STUD. THEY REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE THEN, EVERY TIME I HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED EVERY 5,000 MILES BY A FORD DEALER, A WHEEL STUD GETS BROKEN. TODAY, 5/19/13 WHILE WASHING MY CAR, I NOTICED A LUG NUT MISSING. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN DURING A SERVICE, IT MUST OF HAPPENED DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. AGAIN, ANOTHER WHEEL STUD IS BROKE OFF. I HAVE HAD ABOUT 5 WHEEL STUDS REPLACED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR AND IF A WHEEL MAY FALL OFF. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE WHEEL STUDS. A FORD DEALER CHECKED MY VEHICLE REGARDING THIS RECALL (RECALL ID #94246) AND INDICATED MY WHEEL STUDS WERE FINE. OBVIOUSLY NOT! CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY AND COST OF REPAIR ON MY VEHICLE. *TR
MY FUSION WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN ANAHEIM CA. I AM HAVING TO REPLACE MY 2 YEAR OLD CARS: ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MALFUNCTIONED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IT KEPT STALLING EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING, THIS ALSO HAPPENED A MONTH AGO AND I TOOK IT IN AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE FINDING NOTHING WRONG IT SHOWED NO PROBLEMS, I ALSO VIDEO TAPED THE EVENT. THIS HAPPENED BOTH AT SPEEDS OF 60-65 AND 40 MILES PER HOUR. I AM ON DISABILITY AND IT IS NOW GOING TO COST OVER $400 THAT I CANNOT AFFORD. *TR

THIS SITUATION FIRST CAME TO MY ATTENTION ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE CAR STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO PRESS THE GAS AND THEN SPUTTERED OUT AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITH THE CHECK WRENCH SHOWING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE OFF. I WAS VERY CONCERNED WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY A THROTTLE BODY OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST A BAD BATCH OF GAS. THEY STATED NOT TO GET IT CHECK UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN, SO OVER THIS WEEKEND AT ALL TIMES I'M HEADING OUT TO MY FRIENDS CAMP GROUND 80 MILES AWAY FROM WHERE I LIVE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE WRENCH WENT ON AND I COULD NOT PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AT 70MPH. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED IT OFF AS IT SPUTTERED AGAIN. I KNOW IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY BECAUSE OF THE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH THE 2010 FUSION AND ALSO THE CODE THAT THE COMPUTER READ OFF THAT I BORROWED FORM AUTOZONE. I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION SEL FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 65MPH WHEN SUDDENLY I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN SPEED. I CHECKED MY OWNERS MANUAL AND IT STATED THAT IF THE LIGHT REMAINED ON I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON OR DEMONSTRATE ANY INDICATION OF TROUBLE, SO I CONTINUED DRIVING TO MY DESTINATION. UPON REACHING MY DESTINATION, I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN THE AREA, EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND DROPPED IT OFF FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE. ON MAY 16TH, 2013, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30AM, ON I-81 SOUTHBOUND AT 70MPH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE OCCURED AGAIN. I PUT ON THE HAZARD INDICATORS, PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF. THIS TIME WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, THE "ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON (NO "WRENCH" LIGHT). LEAVING THE CAR RUNNING, I CHECKED MY OWNERS MANUAL AND IT STATED TO DRIVE IT TO THE CLOSES DEALERSHIP. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHIN MINUTES AND DRIVE NORMALLY. HOWEVER, THIS EVENT REPEATED ITSELF EVERY 30 TO 60 MILES ON A 300 MILE TRIP. AFTER THIS TRIP, THE VEHICLE WAS "FINE" FOR ABOUT SIX WEEKS, 1000-1500 MILES - CITY OR HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, THE BATTERY DIED AT ONE POINT. ALSO, THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE GAS WAS NOT RESPONSIVE - IT WOULD HICCUP. OCCASIONALLY THE HICCUP WOULD OCCUR DURING ACCELERATION. ON 6/20, THE EVENT OCCURRED ONCE MORE, BUT AT LOW SPEED AND DURING DECELERATION - 30-40 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR TWICE AND DRIVE ANOTHER HALF A MILE TO A PARKING SPOT. FOUR HOURS LATER, I TRIED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HALF A MILE WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT NEEDED TO RESTART THE CAR 5 TO 7 TIMES TO REACH A PARKING SPOT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE ERROR CODE P2112 WAS PRODUCED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY THE TECHNICIANS SUGGESTED PART DS70-9E926-D, ALL OR PART OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. TSB 10-21-6 ADDRESSES A SIMILAR PAIR OF PARTS IN 7T4Z-9E926-FA AND 8S4Z-9E926-B LABELED "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY" AS WELL. THE PART IS CURRENTLY UNDER BACK ORDER WITH NO ETA ON THE BACK ORDER. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A TRANSITION FROM THE 101 CA FW TO THE 110 SANTA MONICA, I PROCEEDED TO GIVE THE CAR MORE GAS TO GET UP TO SPEED OF THE CURRENT TRAFFIC FLOW BUT MY CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION. A LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT STARTED FLASHING BUT THE CAR WAS QUICKLY SLOWING DOWN. THE CARS STARTED IDLING HEAVING BUT STILL NO ACCELERATION. I QUICKLY PUNCHED MY HAZARD AS I HAD MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH MY AND TRAFFIC WAS COMING. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE FIRST LANE TO TRY TO EXIT THE FREEWAY. THE CAR LITERALLY ROLLED TO EXIT OFF 9TH STREET AND JUST GLIDED DOWN THE OFF-RAMP. A VERY TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE AS CARS HAD TO TAKE EVASION ACTIONS TO AVOID REARENDING ME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER SAFE ON THE FIRST AVAILABLE STREET. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK IT STARTED RATTLING HARDER. I THEN SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, TURNED EVERYTHING OFF (AIR/RADIO) AND UNPLUGGED MY PHONE CHARGER. I WAITED ABOUT 3 MINUTES AND THEN STARTED THE CAR UP AGAIN LIKE NOTHING. I PROCEEDED TO TAKE SIDE STREET. IT WAS ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER VERY NEXT DAY THE CAR STARTED UP AS NORMAL BUT ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING INTO THE FREEWAY AND AS BEGAN TO GIVE THE CAR GAS TO MERGE IN I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AGAIN. THE LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT CAME AND THE HARD RATTLING STARTED BUT THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HUSBAND DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT 5MPH RATTLING AND ALL AN WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE. THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD TAKE 10 BUSINESS DAY TO GET THE PART AND REPLACE IT SO A RENTAL WAS PROVIDED. THE VERY NEXT DAY DEALER SAID TO PICK UP CAR AS THE THROTTLE HAD BEEN DRAINED AND RESET NOT REPLACED. NOT SURE I UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE NOT FIXING THE CAR BY REPLACING THE PART IF SO MANY ISSUES ARE BEING REPORTED. REFUSING TO PICK UP CAR TILL PART IS REPLACED AND THEY CAN GUARANTEE ME THIS ISSUE WONT RECUR. *TR

THE CONTACT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT FAILURE AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE SOON RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON 1-95 IN VIRGINIA IN THE LEFT LANE EARLY IN THE MORNING WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL SET. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF AND MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN VERY FAST. I WAS LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME IN THE LEFT LANE OR ELSE I COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR A FEW MINUTES I RESTARTED MY CAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD AGAIN. ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER MY CAR DID THE SAME THING WHERE THE GAS PEDAL WOULDN'T WORK AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE PART OF THE HIGHWAY DID NOT HAVE VERY MANY EXITS SO I HAD TO START MY CAR UP AGAIN IN ORDER TO MAKE IT TO AN EXIT WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP. ONCE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP I LEFT MY CAR TO BE LOOKED AT THE NEXT DAY. THE FORD DEALERSHIP CALLED ME TO TELL ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WAS GOING TO BE $600. I WENT IN TO BUY THE PART TO TRY AND REPLACE IT MYSELF AND TOLD THE CAR DEALERSHIP THAT I WAS VERY UPSET BECAUSE MY CAR WASN'T EVEN 3 YEARS OLD YET AND THAT I WAS STILL PAYING ON MY LOAN. THE SUPERVISOR SAID THEY HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE ON OTHER FUSIONS AND WAS GOING TO ONLY CHARGE ME $300 FOR THE PART AND THEY WOULD HANDLE PAYING FOR THE LABOR COSTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CAR LOSS ALL POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY IN A JERKING MOTION WITH AN ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH SYMBOL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NINE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE TRYING TO GET HOME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON REMAINED ON ONCE WE ARRIVED HOME. CAR HAS BEEN AT FORD DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS NOW WAITING ON A FUEL BODY THROTTLE WHICH IS APPARENTLY ON BACK ORDER NATIONWIDE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING WAS MAY 11, 2013 I WAS GOING 40 MILES AN HOUR. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STARTING SLOWING DOWN TO ZERO AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER A FEW MIN. THIS TIME IT GOT ME HOME WITH NO ISSUES. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY JUNE 12, 2013. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR AND IT JUST QUIT (THROTTLE POWER OUTAGE) SCARED THE DAY LIGHTS OUT OF ME ONCE MORE. AGAIN, I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER A PAUSE. I THEN DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO BO BEUCKMAN OF WEST COUNTY, ELLISVILLE, MO. THEY PUT A CALL INTO FORD HOTLINE. I WAITED FOR AN HOUR THEY STILL DID NOT RETURN A CALL. RANDY TOLD ME THAT HE THOUGHT IT MAYBE A THROTTLE ISSUE. HE CALLED FOR THE PART AND IT IS ON BACK ORDER. (THAT IS NOT A GOOD SIGN) I TOLD HIM I DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR---AFRAID SOMEONE MIGHT HIT ME IF IT STALLS AGAIN. HE COULD NOT GIVE ME A LOANER CAR OR SATISFACTION, JUST TOOK MY CELL NUMBER AND WILL CALL BACK WHEN HE HEARS FROM FORD. ON LINE, I SEE THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER. IT COMPLETELY CEASED TO FUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING. FORTUNATELY, MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT INJURED. HOWEVER, IF THIS WOULD HAVE OCCURRED AS SHE DROVE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. AFTER DURING SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY THE THROTTLE BODY. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS. IT TOOK CLOSE TO A WEEK FOR THE PART TO COME IN - BECAUSE - THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME - THERE WAS A HUGE WAITING LIST FOR THIS PART BECAUSE THEY KEEP FAILING. (PLUS, SHE WAS WITHOUT A CAR.) HE TOLD ME THAT FORD REALLY DOESN'T SEE THE NEED FOR A RECALL AT THIS TIME, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. PEOPLE COULD DIE. ON ONE OCCASION, HER CAR FAILED GOING DOWN A VERY STEEP AND WINDING HILL. FORTUNATELY, SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE ROAD. FORD'S ATTITUDE ABOUT THIS IS CRIMINAL. MY OTHER DAUGHTER ALSO HAS A FUSION. I WORRY DAILY ABOUT HER SAFETY. I AM CONSIDERING GETTING THE THROTTLE BODY CHANGED JUST TO KEEP HER SAFE. *TR
