TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE BEYOND 2 MPH. THE CONTACT FELT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GETTING THE PROPER FLOW OF GASOLINE TO THE ENGINE. THE FIRST TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE DEALER REWIRED THE ENGINE BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *TR
WAS HEADING HOME DOWN A NARROW BACK HILL WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION. HAD TO COAST DOWN THE HILL & WHEN I REACHED THE BOTTOM I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED TO CHANGE A FILTER & MY BATTERY WAS BAD. BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AT SEARS DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE FILTER (+PLUS I WAS TOLD THAT WAS PROBABLY NOT THE PROBLEM). LAST WEEK MERGING ONTO AN EXPRESSWAY RAMP @ 60MPH IT BOGGED DOWN TO 0 RPMS AND I THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO GET OVER SO I WAS OUT OF THE WAY OF THE TRAFFIC SO I COULD SHUT THE CAR OFF AND ON (TOOK ME SEVERAL XS) SO I COULD FINISH MY ERRAND. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY NUMEROUS TIMES NOW SO I AM HESITANT TO EVEN TAKE THIS CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY. NOW I AM FINDING THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS AND IT SOUNDS LIKE WHAT MY CAR IS DOING. IF THERE ARE SO MANY OF THESE COMPLAINTS WHY IS FORD NOT MADE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM...Y DO WE HAVE TO SHELL OUT THE $500.00 TO FIX A CAR THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD. *TR
DRIVING DOWN HWY AT 45MPH AND IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED. FOOT WAS ON THE GAS BUT COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BUT COAST OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE TRYING TO AVOID TRAFFIC. STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF. AFTER A MINUTE IT STARTED AND WAS RUNNING FINE FOR ABOUT A MILE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY BY SWITCHING GEARS MANUALLY. TOOK I TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY HA TO BE REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I WAS WE'LL WITHIN THE 5YEAR 50,000 MILE POWER TRAIN COVERAGE THEY STILL TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY IS NOT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN AND I HAD TO PAY $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. *TR
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE ACCELERATING. WRENCH ICON CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER. CAR SHUTTERED WHEN TURNED OFF. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DRIVE HOME. DIAGNOSIS: MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. 3 WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART. COULD COAST AT 12 MPH BUT WHENEVER ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED CAR SHUTTERED AND LOST POWER. DIAGNOSIS: THROTTLE BODY AND COIL. *TR
REAR BRAKE PADS WORN OUT AT 21000 MILES. MANUAL TRANSMISSION SO PARKING BRAKE MUST BE USED WHENEVER PARKED. FRONT BRAKES ALMOST NO WEAR. ALSO WE HAVE COLD WEATHER HERE. ?*TR
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR DIES AND STARTS A VIOLENT SHAKE. LUCKILY THERE WASN'T MUCH TRAFFIC AND I COULD PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY THREE KIDS, IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BUSY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 FORD FUSIONS IS IT GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE DEATHS FOR THEM TO RECALL THIS CAR FOR THE PROBLEM. IT HAS HAPPEN TO ME THREE TIMES NOW ONCE WHEN I WAS GOING ABOUT 35. I THINK FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THEM BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. *TR
***THROTTLE BODY**** DURING SEVERAL TIMES OF DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, I ACCELERATED AND THE RPM ON THE CAR JUMPED SUDDENLY AND STUCK AT A HIGH POSITION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS IN WHICH THE CAR SLOWED TO A STOP. THE "WRENCH" LIGHT THEN CAME ON AND AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN USE OF IT. THIS IS HAPPENING FREQUENTLY. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION BACK IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR I NOTICED WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND HIT THE 20-25 MPH MY CAR HESITATES TO GO INTO GEAR AND WHEN IT DOES IT JERKS. I TOOK IT INTO MY DEALERSHIP AND AT FIRST I WAS TOLD THEY FOUND TRANS CODES THEN I WAS TOLD THAT WAS A MISCOMMUNICATION. I WAS TOLD IT DID THIS BECAUSE THE CAR WAS COLD. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT DID THIS WHEN IT WAS COLD. UPON RESEARCHING KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE I CAME ACROSS THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND AM WONDERING NOW IF THAT IS MY ISSUE WITHOUT THE STALLING ISSUE. WILL CONTINUE TO GO BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY UNTIL MY ISSUE IS TAKEN CARE OF. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROADWAY AT 50 MILE PER HOUR,THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN, ALMOST STALLING, AND I AM UNABLE TO START VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. *TR
TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE BEGAN IDLING VERY ROUGH. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS IDLING VERY ROUGH ~900-1200 RPM AND WAS UNRESPONSIVE WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL (ALMOST TO THE FLOOR). ONCE STOPPED I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED APPROXIMATELY THIRTY SECONDS AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE WARNING LIGHT WAS EXTINGUISHED AND THE ENGINE OPERATED NORMALLY. I ACCELERATED BACK TO TRAFFIC SPEED AND WITHIN FIVE MINUTES EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME THING. I PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF AND BACK ON THE VEHICLE AND AGAIN THE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED AND THE CAR RAN NORMALLY. TWO MORE TIMES WITHIN A THIRTY MINUTE PERIOD THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. EN ROUTE TO THE FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY I HAD THE SAME THING OCCUR THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES DURING THE TEN MILE DRIVE TO THE DEALER. EACH INCIDENT WAS IDENTICAL. THE DEALER FOUND NO CODES (SINCE THE LIGHT HAD CLEARED WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON) AND HOOKED UP AN INCIDENT RECORDER. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME SHUT DOWN THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES AND CAPTURED THEM ON THE RECORDER - UPON RETURN TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE ANY CODES TO INVESTIGATE (?) THE DEALER 'THOUGHT' THEY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS (EVEN THOUGH THEY "HADN'T SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE") AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SINCE REPLACEMENT I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ADDITIONAL MISHAPS. I'M GLAD I DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER BUT, AS I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER, I FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HOPE THEY FIX THIS ISSUE ASAP - THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND SOON! *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY ALARMED SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND POWER STEERING NOW. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME. THANK GOD IT DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED A FORD DEALER THEY SUGGESTED I PULL OVER TRY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND STARTING IT AGAIN TO SEE IF MESSAGE WOULD DISAPPEAR IT DIDN'T. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN TO BE SERVICED. JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT IT'S $130. WHEN I LOOKED ON INTERNET I SEEN THAT THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT NO RECALLS. I ALSO SEEN THAT IT IS VERY COSTLY AND THE PROBLEM RECURS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS AND TURNING LEFT. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,500.
TRAVELING ON THE PA TURNPIKE THE ENGINE JUST STALLED. WE HAD TO NEGOTIATED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO ABILITY TO NEGOTIATE AROUND TRAFFIC. NOTIFIED FORD AND SANDS RED HILL FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. IT HAPPENED AGAIN TRAVELING AROUND 45MPH. I SAW COMPLAINTS ONLINE (WEB) AND PAID SANDS TO HAVE THEM REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER REPLACEMENT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. THE COST WAS 385.51. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-49 SO., APPROX. 60 MPH IN PEAK MORNING TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE STALLED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. NOTICED A "WRENCH" ICON LIT ON DASH. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES, RE-STARTED ENGINE. ALL CLEAR ON DASH, SO CONTINUED ON TO WORK. CALLED HUB CITY FORD AND BROUGHT CAR IN THE NEXT MORNING. THE "THROTTLE BODY" WAS CHANGED. NO OTHER WARNING OR LIGHTS CAME ON. *TR
LAST WEEK, AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, MY FORD FUSION CUT BACK TO ABOUT 5 MPH AND I SLOWLY CHUGGED HOME. TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AND STILL THE SAME. WAITED ABOUT AN HOUR AND RESTARTED AND IT WORKED FINE. TODAY AS I WAS COMING HOME AT 70 MPH IT DID THE SAME. SO I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED AWHILE AND RESTARTED IT. IT WORKED OKAY. I HAVE READ THAT THIS A PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSIONS THAT IS BEING INVESTIGATED SO I'LL LIKE TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE INVESTIGATION. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT: VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH AND WOULD NOT PULL UP A SHALLOW GRADE HILL ABOUT 1 MILE FROM THE HOUSE. CAR WAS STARTED "COLD". WIFE PULLED OFF ROAD AND ENGINE DIED. "WRENCH" SYMBOL CAME ON DASH. I ARRIVED ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER AND STARTED CAR TO MOVE IT FURTHER OFF THE ROAD. IT RAN SO I TOOK IT BACK HOME, NO APPARENT ISSUE. CALLED DEALER AND GOT IT IN THE NEXT DAY. DEALER IS ABOUT 2.5MILES FROM MY HOME. DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND WE DROVE IT HOME. DID NOT DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK. SECOND INCIDENT: WIFE AT A BUSY CONTROLLED INTERSECTION. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN. CALLED ME AFTER GETTING CAR STARTED AND MOVED TO A SAFE LOCATION ABOUT 1/2 MILE FROM INTERSECTION. "WRENCH" AND "BATTERY" LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WITH NO APPARENT PROBLEM. DEALER INFORMED ME THE COMPUTER CODED A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. THROTTLE BODY CHANGED. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR OVER 10 MILES SINCE THEN. WIFE NO LONGER TRUST CAR. *TR
THE VEHICLE WILL AT TIMES APPEAR TO LOSE POWER AND GO INTO "LIMP HOME MODE". A NON-DEALER DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED A "P2111" ERROR CODE FOR "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN". THIS SYMPTOM HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AT MULTIPLE RATES OF SPEED, RESULTING IN DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. THE DEALER HAS SO FAR REFUSED TO REPLACE WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
1ST INCIDENT: PULLED INTO TRAFFIC, LOST ALL POWER. CAR BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH. COASTED TO SIDE ROAD TO PULL OFF. AFTER SAT IDLE FOR 5 MINUTES, CAR STARTED AND DROVE FINE. FORD CLAIMED COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. 2ND INCIDENT (5/21/2013): LOST ALL POWER WHILE IN PASSING LANE GOING 75 MPH ON I-75, JUST SOUTH OF OCALA, FL. AFTER SAT IDLE FOR 5 MINUTES, CAR STARTED AND DROVE FINE REMAINDER OF TRIP. DID NOT TAKE CAR IN. 3RD, 4TH & 5TH INCIDENTS (5/24/2013), LOST ALL POWER WHEN DOING IN-TOWN DRIVING. RAN VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT SAID ISSUE WITH TROTTLE CONTROL (?). AGAIN SAT IDLE A FEW MINUTES RESTARTED CAR AND DROVE FINE FOR SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. 4TH & 5TH INCIDENTS HAPPENED IN 15-20 DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AND STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000. I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN WHEN MY 2010 FORD FUSION LOST ALL POWER AND STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY HAZZARD LIGHTS ON. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLIUMNITATED (BATTERY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL PRESSURE). I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A MINTUE THEN I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS A LITTLE ROUGH TO START UP BUT ONCE IT DID IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT MANY, MANY PEOPLE REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY PART. I DON'T KNOW THIS FOR SURE BUT THAT IS WHAT OTHER POSTS ARE SAYING. I AM AFRAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP WON'T BE ABLE TO REPOLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE WON'T FIX IT. I WISH THAT FORD WOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE WITH THE FUSION AND ISSUE A RECALL, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WHEN YOUR CAR LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE RPMS DROPPED TO BELOW 1000. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER WHERE THE CAR SHOOK AND DIED OUT. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED. *TR
THROTTLE BODY! I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES FOR A WHILE NOW. STARTED WITH THE CHECK FUEL INLET CAP LIGHT COMING ON. FYI, I HAVE NOT FUEL CAP FOR THIS CAR. HAD IT CHECKED, THOUGHT IT WAS A SENSOR PROBLEM. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. THEN THE ISSUES STARTED TAKING PLACE. HAD A FEW INCIDENTS WHERE I WOULD BE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON IN THE CAR AND IT WOULD COMPLETELY LOSE ANY THROTTLE CONTROL. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE, CAR WOULD STILL BE RUNNING, BUT ONCE STOPPED WOULD SHAKE AND SPUTTER, I WOULD TURN IT OFF AND THEN IT WOULD FIRE RIGHT BACK UP. SOMETIMES THIS WOULD TAKE PLACE MAYBE 3 TIMES BACK TO BACK AND THEN WOULD NOT DO IT ANYMORE. I KEPT BEING TOLD, WHEN IT HAPPENS BRING IT IN....THAT IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE. IT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AND NOW AT LOWER SPEEDS AND AS OF LAST WEEK, AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. NOW IT IS PARKED, CAN'T GO 2 MILES WITHOUT IT SHUTTING OFF. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY OTHER ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, YET THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. FORD IS TELLING ME THE PART IS BACK ORDERED, AND THAT I MAY HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH FOR IT TO COME IN. I WORK AND HAVE TWO KIDS AND NOW FORD WOULD LIKE FOR ME TO WAIT TO GET IT FIXED. FYI.....A RENTAL CAL IS ABOUT $700 FOR A MONTH! UNACCEPTABLE! AND I OWE TOO MUCH ON IT TO BE WORTH MY WHILE TO TRADE IT IN. FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF! *TR
I WAS SLOWING DOWN AS THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED. THE ENGINE STALLED AND CUT OUT. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. IT TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO GET THE CAR STARTED. OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS, THE CAR STALLED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC AT 45 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY. THEY REPLACED THE PARTS AT A COST OF $438.64. WE HAVE SINCE LEARNED OF OTHER FORDS OF THE SAME AGE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
ON FEB 13 2013 I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR NOSED OVER, SLOWED TO APPROX 8MPH, WITH ENGINE SURGES OF UP TO 1500 RPM, AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS IT RAN NORMALLY. ON FEB 17 2013 IT DID THE SAME EXACT THING, I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES IN THE 40 MINUTE DRIVE OF 3 MILES BACK HOME BUT THAT DID NOT HELP. AFTER THE CAR SET FOR SEVERAL HOURS IT STARTED AND RAN CORRECTLY. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWED HUNDREDS OF THE SAME PROBLEM AND REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY CORRECTED THE TROUBLE. ON FEB 18, 2013 I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND FROM ONLY MY DESCRIPTION WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS THE PROBLEM, THEY HAD 3 IN STOCK AND MY THREE YEAR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED ON FEB 21, 2013, LESS THAN A MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED SO I DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME, I CALLED A DIFFERENT FORD DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY AT A DISCOUNT. IT TOOK ME ABOUT TEN MINUTES TO INSTALL THE THROTTLE BODY, AND THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING AS IT SHOULD. *TR

WE WERE DRIVING AROUND 50 MPH WHEN THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND WE SLOWED DOWN TO 5 MPH.THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIT UP. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOBODY ON THE ROAD BEHIND US OR WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED FROM THE SUDDEN CHANGE IN ACCELERATION. WE WERE TOLD BY OUR DEALER THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. THEY REPLACED IT BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY (I WAS TOLD BY FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT NO WARRANTY COVERS THAT PART). HOW CONVENIENT THAT THEY SPECIFICALLY DON'T COVER A PART THAT IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. I AM NOT SURE IF ANYONE HAS DIED FROM THIS PROBLEM, BUT I HAVE TWO TEENAGE SONS WHO DRIVE THAT CAR AND I DON'T TRUST IT ANYMORE. WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN THE FAST LANE, THE FUEL SEEMED TO SUDDENLY CUT OFF. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT IDLE AND THE CAR ABRUPTLY SLOWED DOWN FORCING ME TO PULL OVER. THIS WAS QUITE FRIGHTENING DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS IN THE FAST LANE AND NEEDED TO GET OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER IN A HURRY. AFTER TURNING ON THE FLASHERS AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, MY WIFE REMINDED ME OF THIS INCIDENT OCCURRING TWICE BEFORE TO HER RECENTLY BUT ON LOCAL ROADS. WE HAD BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO FORD AND THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO I STARTED THE ENGINE AND PROCEEDED TO MOVE THE CAR AND REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE WAS NOW RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL. I DROVE HOME AND BROUGHT THE CAR DIRECTLY TO THE FORD DEALER.THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH COSTS US $497.79. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY FORD'S EMISSION WARRANTY (5 YR/ 50,000 MI). THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ICON CAME ON AND LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I COASTED TO A STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHICH IS WHEN THE CAR BEGAN JERKING. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, BUT IT WAS A ROUGH RESTART. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF AND IT APPEARED TO RUN FINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY OWNERS OF THE FORD FUSION HAVE HAD THIS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THEIR THROTTLE BODY. THIS ALSO IS AFFECTED BY OTHER MODELS OF 4 CYLINDER ENGINES. MY FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THAT THEY HAD NO CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I INFORMED THEM OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE THROTTLE WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND THIS WAS NOT A RECALLED PART. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER THIS, RESULTING IN TWO NEAR TRAFFIC CRASHES AND ALMOST GETTING TBONED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL RUN FINE FOR A DAY OR SAY, BUT WITH NO WARNING STOP RUNNING, SOMETIMES AT THE MOST INCONVENIENT TIMES. I CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED A NEW THROTTLE BODY FROM MY DEALERSHIP FOR $185 WITH TAX AND REPLACED THE PART MYSELF BECAUSE IT WAS VERY SIMPLE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST ALL FORWARD POWER. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE ENGINE CUT OUT, AND A COUPLE OF PEOPLE HAD TO MAKE SOME PRETTY SEVERE EMERGENCY MANEUVERS TO AVOID ACCIDENTS DUE TO MY ALMOST-STALLED CAR. I COULDN'T GET ANY POWER OUT OF IT WITH THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN I COASTED OFF INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY, THE CAR BARELY STAYED RUNNING. IT SHOOK AND MISSED LIKE IT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH AIR. THERE WAS A YELLOW WRENCH ICON ON, BUT NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I SHUT DOWN AND REFIRED, AND IT RAN PERFECTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO STORED DATA TO ANALYZE, AND THAT IT DIDN'T DO IT TO THEM ON THE TEST DRIVE. THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. 2 MINUTES OF GOOGLING SHOWS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODIES ON THESE CARS. WE NEED A RECALL!! WHAT IF PEOPLE HADN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION WHEN MY CAR FAILED IN THE INTERSECTION? THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A BIG CRASH. *TR
THERE WAS A POOL OF OIL ON FLOOR, UNDER CAR ( LEFT FRONT SIDE) COMING FROM THE BUSHING OF THE HALF SHAFT AXEL ASSEMBLY. THE LEAKING WAS FROM THE HALF SHAFT SEAL. REPAIR WAS PERFORMED BY FORD PER TSB 12-11-6 FORD REPLACED HALF SHAFT SEAL AND BUSHING. ALSO JOINT AND STUB SHAFT ASSEMBLY. *TR

AFTER A ROUGH RESTART, IT APPEARED TO RUN FINE. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HAD MY FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED, BUT AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND FINDING MANY OWNERS OF THE FORD FUSION HAVE HAD THIS RECURRING PROBLEM, SEEMINGLY WITH THEIR THROTTLE BODY, I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AS THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WITH NO WARNING BEFOREHAND AND AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS. BOTH INCIDENCES THE FAILURE OCCURED DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC ON MAJOR STREETS WITHIN THE CITY.
