FIRST EVENT WAS WHILE EXITING A MALL PARKING LOT; STEPPED ON GAS PEDAL, AND INSTEAD OF ACCELERATING THE CAR SEEMED JUST ABOUT TO STALL. I GOT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE NOTICED THE "WRENCH" SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR, NOTING THE "WRENCH" WAS NO LONGER ON, PUT IT IN GEAR AND DROVE OFF. THE CAR RAN FINE UNTIL 12/28/12, WHEN WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX 70MPH ON I-90 THE ENGINE BEGAN TO AGAIN DOWN SHIFT AND LOSE POWER. THE THIRD OCCURRENCE WAS THE MORNING OF 12/29/12; IN EACH ABOVE INCIDENT I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE TRAFFIC WAY, PARK, SHUT OFF THE CAR, RESTART IT AND DRIVE AWAY. THE WRENCH WAS ILLUMINATED EACH TIME. ON 01/03/13 MY CAR WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALER FROM WHERE I PURCHASED IT, AND THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY HAD ONE IN STOCK AND REPLACED IT. KUDOS TO THEM, BUT, MORE THAN A LITTLE UNNERVING. AND IF IT WAS REPLACED WITH THE SAME STYLE UNIT, HOW DO I KNOW IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN, PERHAPS AT A MOST INOPPORTUNE TIME? AT THE TIME OF WRITING THIS I DON'T HAVE THE VIN AVAILABLE, HOWEVER, FWIW, THE BUILD DATE IS JUNE 2010. IT IS THE SEL AWD WITH THE V-6 ENGINE, 3.0L I BELIEVE. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK NOVEMBER 28, 2012 THE CAR DIED. LUCKILY I HAD ALREADY EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND WAS ONLY DOING APP. 30 MPH. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR. I FINALLY GOT IT TO RUN, BUT IT WAS RUNNING TERRIBLY. I NURSED THE CAR TO WHERE I WORKED AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. IT WAS TOWED TO KINGS FORD IN CINCINNATI (ABOUT 20 MILES FROM WHERE I WORK). THE MECHANIC VERIFIED A "DTC P2112" CODE FOR A THROTTLE BODY STUCK. IT WAS REPLACED BY KINGS FORD AND ALTHOUGH I WAS UNDER THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY PERIOD I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE (3 YEAR/36,000). I WAS CHARGED 442.81 FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A CAR THAT WAS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. I COMPLAINED TO FORD AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD "TOO BAD". NOT HAPPY WITH ANY FORD PRODUCT NOW. I MANAGE A 330 VEHICLE FLEET WHERE I WORK. DO YOU THINK I'LL BUY A FORD AGAIN? *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN NOVEMBER 2012, GOING ABOUT 70MPH MY CAR LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SHAKE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN IT STARTED IT AND IT WAS FINE. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. JULY 25 2013 I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 10MPH AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, FROM JULY 25TH TILL AUG 3 THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 DIFFERENT TIMES ALL GOING ABOUT 30MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 2 DAYS AUG 2/3. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON AUG 6 2013 WERE THEY TOLD ME MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND NEED REPLACED AND WAS GOING TO COST ME AROUND $670, AND MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THIS PART IS NOT COVERED. I SEE THAT ALOT OF OTHER HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED ASAP. IM NOT PAYING TO FIX AND PART THAT IS FAULTY IN SO MAN Y VEHICLES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR STALLED AND WENT INTO "SAFETY MODE" OR LOW POWER MODE. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. AFTER PULLING OVER, NOTICED THE CAR WAS IDLING ROUGH. THE MAINTENANCE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT, AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF ROUGH STARTING THE CAR TURNED BACK ON, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES LATER THAT DAY AND THROUGH OUT THE WEEK. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, SINCE THERE WERE NO CODES CURRENTLY ON AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I'VE FOUND THE THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE, YET FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE THIS UNDER WARRANTY, OR REPLACE IT UNLESS THERE IS HARD EVIDENCE THAT IS THE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE THEN STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP OR DRIVING 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE CODES SHOWED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,449 THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AT IDLE AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, AND THE ENGINE WOULD GO TO IDLE OR COMPLETELY STALL, AND THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE.
ENGINE STALLED REQUIRING ME TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DIPS AND SURGES IN POWER HAPPEN QUITE FREQUENTLY. *TR
DRIVING ALONG SUDDENLY DING DING..SERVICE ADVANCTRAC AND POWERSTEERING THE DISPLAY SAID AND THE STEERING BECOMES HARD AND PULLS. *TR
BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER 2012, THE ABOVE 2010 FORD FUSION BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY AND RANDOMLY "STALLING OUT". IT FIRST HAPPENED AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. THE CAR WOULD COMPLETELY LOSE PROPULSION. THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT PROPEL THE CAR, BUT THE CAR WOULD KEEP RUNNING AT A LOW IDLE. ONCE THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, IT WOULD RESTART AND BE FINE AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT UNANTICIPATED OCCURRENCE. THE "WRENCH" LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHILE IT WAS OCCURRING, BUT THAT OR THE "ENGINE LIGHT" WOULD NOT STAY ON. THE FORD DEALER THAT WE CONTACTED SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM IF IT WAS NOT OCCURRING IN THEIR PRESENCE, OR IF THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON TO HELP DIRECT THEM. THIS HAS OCCURRED UPWARDS OF 15 OR MORE TIMES BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2012 AND TODAY, PLACING MY SPOUSE IN PRECARIOUS TRAFFIC SAFETY SITUATIONS. TODAY, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED THREE TIMES IN A ROW, THE FIRST TIME ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION WHILE GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON THIS TIME, AND IT WAS IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD A HARD TIME WITH DIAGNOSTICS, BUT CURRENTLY BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH ELECTRONIC COMPONENTRY THAT SUBSTANTIALLY HELPS THE ENGINE INTERPRET WHAT THE ACCELERATOR WANTS. ALTHOUGH THIS WOULD SEEM TO BE A DRIVE TRAIN ISSUE, THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER IT UNDER THEIR 5 YEAR / 50,000 MILE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY (REMARKABLE). IN LOOKING MORE INTO THIS PROBLEM TONITE, I FOUND THAT NHTSA SEEMS TO BE INVESTIGATING THIS SAME ISSUE (SEE: WWW.THESPEC.COM/NEWS-STORY/2091295-FORD-VEHICLES-INVESTIGATED-OVER-COMPLAINTS-OF-STALLING-OR-SURGES/). TO ASSIST WITH THAT INVESTIGATION, I WANTED TO MAKE YOU WERE AWARE OF THAT SAME ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, AND AM SEEKING YOUR INPUT AND ASSISTANCE IN THIS SAFETY MATTER. WE WERE DRIVING BACK FROM SHOPPING, HAD THE CRUISE SET AT 65 MPH. THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASH AND NOTICE THE WRENCH LIGHT HAD COME ON. WE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND I NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND STILL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK. WE WERE CONTEMPLATING WHO WE COULD CALL AT SUCH A LATE HOUR. I DECIDED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND SEE IF WOULD RESTART, IT IN FACT DID AND THE ENGINE SEEM TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY. WE CONTINUED TO OUR DESTINATION WITH OUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CAR HAS REMAINED IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE THE INCIDENT. THIS IS THE FIRST PROBLEM WE HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE, WE BOUGHT IT USED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. IT HAD 29,700 MILES ON IT AND HAD NO ISSUES REPORTED TO CAR FAX. IT WAS A ONE OWNER VEHICLE AND THAT WAS A RENTAL CAR FROM INITIAL SALE OF CAR IN HAWAII. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A PUDDLE OF LIQUID NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A HAIRLINE FRACTURE ON THE FUEL TANK, WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
I PULLED OUT OF MY OFFICE PARKING LOT ONTO HIGWAY AND CAR STALLED AND SEEM NOT TO GET GAS. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD TO SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART IT UNTIL I GOT TO A AUTO SHOP AND THERE THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND SAID I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH I HAD IT TOWED THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE IT WAS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP CLOSED. THEY KEPT IT FOR 3 DAYS SAID IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR WHICH THEY REPLACED SAID IT WAS FIXED. 2 WEEKS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THEM THEY REPLACED MY CATALYIC CONVERTER SAID IT WAS FIXED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME THING HAPPEN SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT IF FOR 3 DAYS AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT DIDN'T SHOW UP ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THEM 3 MORE TIMES IN WHICH THE LAST TIME I THAT IT OUT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND OWNER. FINALLY I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT IT UNTIL THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY WHICH I HAD BEEN TELLING THE OTHER DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER AND OWNER ALL ALONG. I HAD TO PAY $505.43 TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE MY WARANTY HAD GONE OUT. CAR IS NOW FIXED I PRAY BUT IT TOOK TAKING IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP. *TR
DRIVING 55 MPH LOST POWER, CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY, WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON, ROLLED OFF COUNTRY ROAD & TURNED CAR OFF. RESTARTED & DROVE HOME 600 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT. THEN ON DECEMBER 3, 2012 (2 WEEKS LATER) WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON BUSY HIGHWAY AT RUSH HOUR SAME THING HAPPENED...NO POWER, WRENCH LIGHT, VIOLENT SHAKING. FORTUNATELY, WAS IN A BUSY DOWNTOWN AREA WITH MULTIPLE EXIT RAMPS. WAS ABLE TO "ROLL" OFF HIGHWAY , TURN OFF CAR & RESTART. NEEDED TO DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES. GOT TO DESTINATION ( I WAS SHAKING MORE THAN CAR) AND SAME THING HAPPENED ALL THE WAY HOME. TOOK TO DEALER WHO EVENTUALLY REPLACED THROTTLE BODY& HAVEN'T HAD AN INCIDENT SINCE. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL PROBLEM AFTER READING ALL THE IDENTICAL STORIES & EXPECT MY $100 DEDUCTIBLE RETURNED AS I DID HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH THAT WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIRED. THE FIRST TIME, THERE WERE ERROR CODES THAT COULD BE USED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT IN LESS THAN A MONTH THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND THIS TIME THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY HAS TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND ALL PROPULSION SYSTEMS DID NOT WORK. THE BRAKES WORKED FINE BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE CAR WHEN I PRESSED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ORDERED. I HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM 2X AND COULD HAVE BEEN HURT WHEN I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY AND JUST ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD IN TIME. *TR
WE WERE ON THE HWY GOING ABOUT 65MPH IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF AN EXTREMELY BUSY TIME. IT WAS DARK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND WE BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE. WAITED 5-10 MINUTES WHILE WE CALLED A MECHANIC FRIEND. STARTED IT BACK UP TO SEE IF WE CAN GET OFF ON THE NEXT EXIT AND BEFORE WE COULD, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FINALLY GOT IT HOME BUT HAD TO WAIT TWO DAYS TO TAKE IT IN SINCE THEY WERE CLOSED. ENDED UP NOT ONLY COSTING ME $400 TO FIX IT, BUT ALSO THE INCONVENIENCE OF NOT HAVING A VEHICLE TO GET THINGS DONE AS WELL AS A DAY OFF OF WORK BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET THERE. SEEING AS MANY COMPLAINTS AS I'VE SEEN, THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED A LONG TIME AGO. I LOVE FORDS, BUT WITH THE ISSUES I'VE HAD, I'M CONSIDERING A TRADE IN FOR A DIFFERENT BRAND. *TR
DRIVER WAS GOING 35-40 MPH AND SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED A SEVERE LOSS OF POWER AS IF THE CAR TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN NEUTRAL.WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE!! HAD TO PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHERS TO KEEP FROM GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND.CAR WAS DRIVING VERY SLOW AND THEN AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, FULL POWER CAME BACK ON. *TR
THE VEHICLE STALLED/LOST POWER, WHILE MAKING A TURN AT 15-20 MPH. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 40 MPH. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. WHILE WAITING I TRIED TO START IT AFTER 15/20 MINUTES. IT STARTED, BUT WAITED FOR TOW TRUCK SINCE I WAS AFRAID TO GET ON THE ROAD. IT WAS LOOKED AT AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRSHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE FOUND, BUT THAT PERHAPS THE THROTTLE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AFTER 30,000 MILES. THIS COST AROUND $250. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED A THIRD TIME AT ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR ON MAY 17, 2013. THIS TIME THE VEHICLE DIDN'T START AS IN THE PAST. HAD BOTH ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT. HAD TO BE TOWED. THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRSHOP, NORRIS FORD TECHS, SAID THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY THE THROTTLE MECHANISM AND THAT IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THREE DAYS SINCE THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART. DESPITE THIS MAJOR REPAIR, IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY, JUNE 7, 2013. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 55MPH. THE CAR LOST POWER, STARTED SHAKING, AND STALLED. I'VE BEEN LUCKILY SO FAR THAT NOONE HAS HIT ME FROM THE BACK, BUT I'M VERY CONCERNED AND AFRAID THAT I DECIDED TO REPORT IT. THIS FORD FUSION PROBLEM NEEDS TO INVESTIGATED. *TR
WAS ACCELERATING TO ENTER FREEWAY WHEN ENGINE WENT TO IDLE AND CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. PULLED ONTO MEDIAN AND TRIED TO REV ENGINE BUT NO RESPONSE. TURNED ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE CAR DROVE FINE FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE EXHIBITING SAME BEHAVIOR. THIS TIME PULLED OFF FREEWAY AND WAITED FOR SOMEONE TO COME GET THE CAR. AFTER 30 MINUTES OR SO WE TRIED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT DROVE FINE ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. ONCE THERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND CHARGED US QUITE A BIT TO REPLACE IT. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 50MPH W/NO CRUISE SET. VEHICLE JERKED HARD AND ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WAS LOST. VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND WRENCH LIGHT WAS OBSERVED TO BE ON. SECOND INCIDENT W/ CRUISE SET AT 60MPH, VEHICLE JERKED AND CRUISE WAS AUTOMATICALLY DEACTIVATED. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF SIDE OF ROAD AT WHICH POINT VEHICLE WAS OBSERVED RUNNING ROUGH AND WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED. VEHICLE BEGAN RUNNING FINE. THIRD INCIDENT OCCURRED HOURS AFTER SECOND INCIDENT WITH NO CRUISE ON AND VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 60MPH. VEHICLE JERKED HARD AND BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH AS PULLING OFF SIDE OF ROAD. WRENCH LIGHT WAS OBSERVED ON AGAIN. UPON RESEARCH OF ISSUE, IT WAS NOTED THAT SEVERAL OTHER CONSUMERS WITH SAME VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SAME ISSUE (SOURCE: HTTP://WWW.FORDFUSION.NET). IN EVERY CASE THAT CONSUMERS POSTED ON THE FORUMS, THE THROTTLE BODY HAD BEEN FOUND FAULTY BY A FORD DEALER AND WAS REPLACED. SOME USERS ALSO NOTED THAT THEIR INCIDENTS OCCURRED ON BUSY POPULATED HIGHWAYS IN WHICH SAFETY COULD HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. *TR
2010 FORD FUSION ON NOV 8 2012 DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 67 MILES PER HOUR WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND SET, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. REPAIR LIGHT (LIGHTED WRENCH) CAME ON, CRUISE CONTROL WENT FROM GREEN TO AMBER. ENGINE REMAINED ON BUT ACCELERATOR NO LONGER WORKED. WHEN ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED, ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY CHECKED THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WAS FINE.' HA!! HOWEVER APPROXIMATELY 1-2 WEEKS GO BY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN WITH NO WARNING. I ALSO SPOKE WITH THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND THEY TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE THAT THEY WERE GETTING A LOT OF THESE 2010 FUSIONS WITH FAULTY THROTTLE BODY PARTS AND THAT IF I HAD IT REPLACED IT WOULD ACTUALLY BE A DIFFERENT DESIGN THAN THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED VERSION. FORD DEALER RESETS THE CODE AND THEN IT WORKS FINE AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT TIME(THIS TIME A MONTH LATER). FORD CHARGES $100 TO RESET THE CODE EACH TIME, THEN SAY THEY CAN'T FIND A REAL PROBLEM. THEY SUGGEST TO REPLACE A POWER STEERING UNIT FOR $1500, BUT THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL WHEN CAR IS SITTING. EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT IS STILL VERY HARD TO TURN. I WON'T LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANY LONGER. NO ADVANCE WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENS. THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT THE FORD DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. *TR
WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WENT FROM 35MPH TO COASTING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. WAITED A FEW MINUTES CAR STARTED UP AND I GAVE IT SOME GAS IT WENT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR SPUTTERED AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR STOPPED. WAS CLOSE TO FORD SERVICE CENTER, THEY JUST CALLED AND SAID THE THROTTLE BODY HAS GONE BAD. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IN REVERESE; HOWEVER THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN. IMMEDIATELY SHE NOTICED THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WITH THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THE VEHICLE BE DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,848.

THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKES UPON ENTERING THE FREEWAY ON RAMP. TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND ENDANGERING OTHER DRIVERS, I WAS FORCED TO CRASH INTO THE CONCRETE WALL BARRIER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ON RAMP. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD UNTIL AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND THE ENGINE DIED. AT THAT POINT THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. *TR

THE CONTACT CHANGED FROM SUMMER TO WINTER TIRES AND ALL OF THE LUG NUTS WERE FOUND TO BE WARPED. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V574000 (WHEELS) AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE CONTACT COULD NOT TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS BECAUSE THE LUG NUTS WERE BENT, CRACKED AND NO LONGER FITTING THE LUG WRENCH THAT WAS SUPPLIED IN THE VEHICLE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED INTO A LIMP MODE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FINAL TIME WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT 55MPH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE GETTING REAR ENDED BY TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. THIS IS DANGEROUS CONDITION! AFTER VISITS TO 2 FORD DEALERS, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY MILEAGE, (NOT TIME), SO WE ENDED UP PAYING OUT ALMOST $500 FOR THE REPAIR AND CAR RENTAL. *TR

THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAFFIC IS APPROACHING FROM ALL DIRECTIONS. AFTER ENGINE HAS BEEN SHUT OFF A FEW MINUTES IT RUNS OK. IT HAPPENED TWICE ON THE FIRST OCCASION THEN RAN GOOD FOR 5 DAYS WHEN IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN,THEN RAN GOOD FOR 6 DAYS WHEN SHUT DOWN ONCE MORE .I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO LOTS OF OTHER FUSION OWNERS. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL SOMEONE IS CRASHED INTO BECAUSE OF THIS STALLING. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE THROTTE BODY NEEDS REPLACING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT IN AS MANY DAYS - ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED TWO DAYS AFTER THE FIRST ONE. TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MPH AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES ALL ACCELERATION AND THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARS. I WAS ABLE TO PUTTER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED IT, IT RAN FINE. IT GOES TO THE DEALER TODAY FOR INSPECTION, WHERE I SUSPECT I'LL GET THE SAME RESPONSE THAT MOST EVERY ONE ELSE GETS - THAT THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE RE-PRODUCED. WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET A RECALL FROM FORD ABOUT THE DEFECT IN THEIR DESIGN? FATAL ACCIDENTS?? THAT'S A PRETTY HIGH PRICE TO PAY BEFORE THEY'RE FORCED TO CORRECT THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
