I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, AT APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH, WHEN I SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR STALLED, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, THE NEXT DAY. THE CAR ALSO BEGAN TO SHAKE PRIOR TO TURNING THE CAR OFF. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS, IF NOT MORE, COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS ADVISED THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE "THROTTLE BODY". THE FORD DEALER COMMENTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG THE 2010 FUSIONS. AGAIN, SINCE DISCOVERING THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE IN REFERENCE TO THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD, AS THIS PART/DEFECT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD, WITH 58,000 MILES. THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY CONCERN, WITH CAR LOSING ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 FUSION THAT HAS ACTED UP PREVIOUSLY BUT QUIT AND NOW ITS DOING IT CONSISTENTLY. THE CAR THROWS A LIGHT THAT'S A WRENCH SPITS SPUTTERS AND WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY FUEL NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PRESS THE THROTTLE. I AM A FORD LOVER AND BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY FIANCE FOR A RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION AND NOW IM REALLY WORRIED THAT THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO CAUSE HER TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. IT PRETTY MUCH SHUTS DOWN ON YOU WITH NOT ALLOT OF WARNING AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS COAST AND HOPE THAT YOU CAN PULL ON TO THE SHOULDER. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT WORKS FOR FORD THAT HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS YEAR MODEL FUSION AND THAT ITS ABOUT $550 TO FIX. I AM I HAVE A DECENT JOB BUT I HAVE A WEDDING COMING UP IN JUST A MONTH AND A HALF AND MY SOON TO BE WIFE IS ABOUT TO START BACK COLLEGE AND WILL NOT BE HELPING ME FINANCIALLY I JUST CAN NOT AFFORD THE PARTS AND LABOR. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEMS WITH THIS CERTAIN MODEL AND YEAR WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PART IT HAS OBVIOUSLY NOT BEEN VERY WELL BUILT AND IM CONCERNED IF I DO PAY THE $550 THAT THIS PART WILL JUST DO THE SAME THING. PLEASE HELP ALL OF US THAT ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT IN LIFE AND RECALL A VERY POOR DESIGN. *TR
GOT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY AND WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHT SMELLED "SOMETHING". 3 BLOCKS LATER AT MY HOUSE I FELT THE HEAT FROM THE REAR WHEELS ON MY LEGS AND REALIZED THE SMELL WAS FROM REAR BRAKES. JACKED UP BOTH REAR WHEELS AND FOUND THE WHEELS ALMOST IMMOVABLE. REAR PADS WORN DOWN TO 2-3MM! FRONT PADS STILL HAD 10MM OF PAD REMAINING ON ALL FOUR PADS! NO PROBLEM (OR USE OF) WITH PARKING BRAKE. CALIBERS HAD BEEN STICKING - DRAGGING FOR QUITE SOME TIME TO WEAR DOWN TO ALMOST NOTHING WHILE LEAVING FRONT BRAKES WITH YEARS LEFT ON THEM. CAR WAS STILL IN WARRANTY. *TR
MY 22 YEAR OLD SON AND I HAD MADE A ROUNDTRIP FROM TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA TO THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA. APPROXIMATELY ONE AND A HALF OR SO MILES FROM MY HOUSE, THE RPMS ON THE CAR BEGAN WAVING WILDLY, THE CAR JERKED SLIGHTLY, AND CAME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP ON THE ROAD, WITH A TRUCK TRAVELING RIGHT BEHIND ME. I PRESSED MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOORBOARD, BUT THE CAR SLOWED TO A CRAWL. THE TRUCK BEHIND ME PASSED. I MANAGED TO KEEP THE CAR GOING TO MY HOUSE; WE COULD HAVE WALKED THERE FASTER. AGAIN, THIS WAS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. I HAD 55, 187.1 MILES ON MY CAR, WHICH I BOUGHT IN APRIL, 2010, NEW. I RESEARCHED THIS (IT WAS LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND I HAD NO TRANSPORTATION TO SPEAK OF!). I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP; THEY CLOSED ON SATURDAY AT 2:00 P.M. THEY TOWED MY CAR IN ON TUESDAY MORNING. I TOLD THEM I SUSPECTED A THROTTLE/TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BASED ON WHAT I SAW RE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. I REPORTED THIS TO THE NATIONAL FORD WEBSITE. THEY TOOK MY COMPLAINT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE NEXT DAY THAT MY THROTTLE HAD FAILED, AND FORD WOULD NOT ASSIST IN ANY PAYMENT FOR REPLACEMENT. I ADVISED THEM I WAS A LAWYER, AND THEY ARE LOOKING AT A PRODUCTS LIABILITY DESIGN DEFECT OR TORT LAWSUIT (IF SOMEONE GETS KILLED WHEN THE CAR DIES ON THE HIGHWAY). FORD COULD CARE LESS. I HAD TO PAY $394 FOR THE LABOR AND PART. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER OF THEIR CARS. THIS WAS MY 3RD FORD. IT IS NOT NECESSARILY THE MONEY I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT; IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH, BUT FORD IS ENGAGED IN A BEANCOUNTING EXERCISE AT THIS POINT. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON FOLLOWED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CAR STARTED REDUCING SPEED EVEN THOUGH I WAS PRESSING THE GAS. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING. I HAD AN OBD II MACHINE IN MY CAR AT THE TIME AND RAN A DIAGNOSTIC. CHECK ENGINE CODE P2111 CAME UP. AFTER RESEARCHING THE CODE IT SAYS IT HAS TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY DISCUSSION FORUMS OUT THERE WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
ON A TYPICAL GOOD WEATHER DAY I WAS DRIVING AROUND RUNNING SOME ERRANDS IN THE CITY. SHORTLY AFTER I STARTED THE CAR GOING AT A CITY TRAFFIC RATE OF SPEED...APPROX 35-40MPH...I GOT APPROXIMATELY 5MILES OUT AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN,AND A WRENCH SIGN APPEARED. EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND WENT TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE WHICH I WAS BARELY ABLE TO DO. ONCE I WAS FULLY OUT OF THE ROAD, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND BEFORE I COULD SHUT THE CAR OFF, IT BEGAN TO SHAKE/ VIBRATE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT A COUPLE MINUTES AND I PROCEEDED TO START THE CAR UP, WHICH IT DID SO LIKE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT, AND THE WRENCH SIGN WENT AWAY. I PROCEEDED TO MY FIRST DESTINATION WITH OUT ANY PROBLEMS. I LEFT MY DESTINATION AND PROCEEDED TO MY NEXT...I GOT ABOUT 3MILES OUT AND THE CAR DID, AND SHOWED THE SAME THING. SO AS I DECIDED TO JUST HEAD HOME WHICH WAS NO MORE THAN 10 MILES AWAY, THE CAR DID THE SAME THING 5 MORE TIMES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON!!!!! I AM NOW HOME AND AFRAID TO DRIVE ANYWHERE. I GOT ONLINE TO SEE WHAT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CALL A MECHANIC BECAUSE IT IS OF COURSE A HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!! *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, MY VEHICLE "STALLED" ('LIMP" HOME MODE) FOR NO REASON, THE TRANSMISSION/THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I SAFELY PULLED THE CAR OVER, AS I SLOWED DOWN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO "JERK". THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO STOP THIS WAS BY PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED AFTER I HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 15-20 MIN. I PULLED BACK ON TO THE ROAD AND A VERY SHORT TIME LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I PULLED OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND AGAIN IT WAS "FINE" (OPERATIONAL). I THEN MADE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THIS HAPPENED LATE ON A SATURDAY EVENING OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY AND ON MY WAY THERE IT WENT INTO "LIMP HOME MODE" 4 TIMES IN A 7 MILE COMMUTE. FORD DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM FORD IF THEY ARE GOING TO COVER THE EXPENSE AS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $460.00 +TAX TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. *JB
LOSS OF ACCELERATOR CONTROL. WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR ENTERED EMERGENCY MODE AND HAD TO BE PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED. DIED 2 MORE TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEED. CODES ON CAR FROM CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READ P2111 AND P2112. DEALER COMPLETED A THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT ON SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2012. COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES. DEALER WAS AWESOME WITH THE REPAIR AND HELP WITH SITUATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN ENERGY SAVER A/S GREEN X TIRES, SIZE 225/50/17. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBITED NUMEROUS CRACKS AND WERE COMPLETELY DRY ROTTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FOUR TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,300.
FOR SEVERAL WEEKS I'VE BEEN NOTICING A SPUTTER/VIBRATION WHEN IN IDLE OR PARK. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. THIS MORNING, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, CAR SUDDENLY BEGINS TO LOSE POWER AND SURGE/VIBRATE/SPUTTER AND I NOTICE THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I'M COMPLETELY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND ALL I CAN DO IS COAST TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE (VERY BUSY) HIGHWAY. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND SITTING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES I'M ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITH NO INDICATION THERE WAS EVER A PROBLEM. THE CAR IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY AND WRENCH LIGHT IS OFF. I DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE I LEFT IT FOR INSPECTION. AS USUAL, I HAD TO CALL THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR AN UPDATE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS NOT "ACTING UP" AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE. THEY DID AGREE TO KEEP IT FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF INSPECTIONS FOR THE NEXT DAY OR SO BUT I SUSPECT I'LL GET THE SAME RESPONSE. AFTER DOING SOME LIGHT RESEARCH, I'VE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE FUSIONS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL OR TSB ADDRESSING IT. I'VE READ POST AFTER POST AFTER POST WRITTEN BY INFURIATED FUSION OWNERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT'S TIME FOR FORD TO OWN UP TO THIS, GET A SOLUTION, AND SEND OUT THE RECALL NOTICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *TR
ON A ROUTINE DRIVE HOME FROM WORK, I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED MY RPMS FALLING FASTER THAN WHAT I WAS CONTROLLING WITH THE BRAKE. CAR WAS LOSING SPEED QUICKLY WITH NO RPMS TO ACCELERATE IT FORWARD TO A SAFE STOPPING POINT. WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A GAS STATION RIGHT OFF HIGHWAY, BUT BARELY AS CAR WAS APPARENTLY ENTERING LIMITED POWER MODE (DETERMINED VIA OWNERS MANUAL). UPON PLACING CAR INTO CAR, DASHBOARD WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF, SAT A MINUTE, RESTARTED CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WITHIN THE COURSE OF THE NEXT 10 MINUTES, THE SAME THING OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SINCE THE FIRST TIME, THIS HAS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES WHILE IN MOTION WITH RISK OF CAUSING A WRECK DUE TO LACK OF CONTROL TO NOT CAUSE CAR TO STOP ABRUPTLY IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. SHAKING HAS OCCURRED IN 4 OF THE 6 OCCURRENCES AND CAR JUST PUTTERS OUT UNTIL IT IS SHUT OFF. DETERMINATION DUE TO CODES READ IS THE THROTTLE BOTTLE- AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. WHILE THE LIMITED POWER MODE MAY BE A SAFETY FEATURE, ITS INTERACTION WITH THE THROTTLE BODY/IDLE ISSUES POSES A POTENTIAL THREAT. THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT THROTTLE BODIES ARE EXPERIENCING WITHIN THIS MAKE/MODEL NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND TAKEN CARE OFF EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY BY FORD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN IT WAS SHIFTED IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET FOR ABOUT 1 MILE AFTER COMING OFF A HIGHWAY. THE CAR HAD COME TO A STOP AT LEAST TWICE AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. I WAS COASTING (FOOT NOT ON BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR) WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN FROM ~30 MPH AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL (CC) HAD BEEN ACTIVATED. I TOUCHED THE BRAKE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE (PROBABLY < 1SEC OF ACCELERATION) AND CONDITIONS RETURNED TO NORMAL. LOOKING AT THE DASH, I NOTED THAT THE CC MASTER SWITCH WAS ON, BUT CC WAS NOT ACTIVE BEFORE ACCELERATION EVENT OR AFTER BRAKING. STATE DURING ACCELERATION IS UNKNOWN. MY FINGERS WERE NOWHERE NEAR THE CC BUTTONS (OR ANY OTHER STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS) WHEN THE EVENT OCCURED. PRIOR TO THE EVENT: I WAS ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 60-65 MPH WITH CC ON AND ACTIVE. WHEN CC IS ACTIVE, I ALWAYS KEEP A THUMB ON THE CANCEL/RESUME BUTTON. TRAFFIC SLOWED AND I BRAKED, THEN HIT C/R (TURNING CC BACK TO ACTIVE -- MY ERROR). I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE ERROR AND SET THE CC BACK TO INACTIVE (EITHER BY BRAKE OR CANCEL, I CAN'T RECALL). CC WAS LEFT IN ITS MASTER-ON/INACTIVE STATE WHEN I CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY WITH ACTIVE VELOCITY SET SOMEWHERE IN THE 60-65 MPH RANGE. THIS WAS THE STATE OF THE CC SYSTEM WHEN THE ABOVE DESCRIBED EVENT OCCURED. *TR
I WAS PULLING MY 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID INTO A PARKING SPACE AT ABOUT 3 MPH AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD. TO AVOID IMPACT INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I TURNED THE CAR INTO A PARKING BLOCK NEXT TO MY PARKING SPACE. AS I DID THIS, I JAMMED ON THE BRAKE, PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. DAMAGE TO FRONT BUMPER AND CASING IN FRONT OF TIRE FROM HITTING THE PARKING BLOCK. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP WITH NO PROBLEMS. DIAGNOSTICS REVEALED NOTHING. CONTACTED FORD CORP. ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND WILL AWAIT TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED AND DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ONCE IT WAS PULLED OFF THE ROAD. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED INTO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TT
ON 8/19/12, WE WERE TRAVELING ON I-96 IN THE LEFT LANE AT 70 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND I COULD BARELY DRIVE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. THE MOTOR SPUTTERED AND SEEMINGLY TRY TO DIE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE MOTOR, CALLED FOR HELP, WHEN HELP ARRIVED, THE TECHNICIAN ASKED ME TO START THE CAR. IT STARTED. MY WIFE AND I WERE ABLE TO GET HOME. ON 8/20/12, I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER TO GET THE MATTER CHECKED AS WELL AS GET AN OIL CHANGE. THE DEALER "SCOPED" THE COMPUTER AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THIS EVENING, 8/20/12, I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THERE WAS A LURCH AND I LOST POWER. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, WAITED A FEW SECONDS, AND TURNED ON THE MOTOR. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. I'VE CHECKED A WEBSITE THAT INDICATES THERE HAVE BEEN QUITE A FEW OTHER PROBLEMS ALONG THE SAME LINES AS I EXPERIENCED. I WILL TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A CHECK AGAIN BUT BASED UPON WHAT I READ ABOUT OTHER COMPLAINTS, I DOUBT IF THE DEALER WILL FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION PARTICULARLY WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND LOSING TOTAL POWER. HAD WE NOT BEEN DRIVING ON A SUNDAY WHEN TRAFFIC WAS RELATIVELY LIGHT, WE WOULD UNDOUBTEDLY HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND BECAME INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED FREQUENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A SAFETY COMPLAINT AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
LEAVING FROM WORK ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON, MY 2010 FORD FUSION LOST POWER AS I PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, IT SLOWED DOWN AND I LOSE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AFTER A MINUTE AND IT RAN FINE. THIS HAPPENS TWO MORE TIMES IN 30 MINUTES ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER. THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS THEY SAID IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I WAS LUCKILY TO NOT GET REAR ENDED THE 3 TIMES IN 30 MINUTES IT LOST POWER. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THAT'S STUPID THAT FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE COST TO FIX THEIR MECHANICAL DEFECTS, THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT AS THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FILED FOR THIS DEFECT. CAR CAME TO A CHUGGING STOP AND A WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE CONSOLE. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED UP AND THE SYMBOL WAS GONE. I AM TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH FORD. I HAVE FOUND OUT ON THE NET THAT THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FUSION. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF FUSION OWNERS. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY "STALL" (ENGINE STAYS RUNNING, BUT LOSES ALL POWER). CAN TURN OFF ENGINE, AND RESTART VEHICLE AND WILL RUN. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS NO "CODE" HAS BEEN STORED, SO DEALER WOULD PROVIDE NO RESOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE TOWED TO VILLAGE FORD INC LOCATED AT 23535 MICHIGAN AVE, DEARBORN, MI 48124, (313) 565-3900, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE MOTOR CUT OFF ON ME, I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE I HAD JUST GOT OFF OF THE INTERSTATE , I MANAGED TO BE ABLE TO PULL ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SET THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER AND THEY CHECKED AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY FAULT CODES. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BOTTLE AND I HAD IT REPLACED, HAVEN'T DROVE IT YET TO SEE IF THAT TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I GOT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND SOME ON COULD GET INJURED OR WORST. *TR
