THE POWERTRAIN HAS SUDDENLY CAUSED MAJOR PROBLEMS. MY CAR WILL NO LONGER REVERSE AND MORE IMPORTANTLY AS FAR AS SAFETY IS CONCERNED, THE GEARS MAY SOMETIMES NOT ENGAGE WHILE ACCELERATING CAUSING THE CAR TO REV UP THE RPM'S WITHOUT MOVING FORWARD. *TT

THE RECALL WAS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON OR AROUND JANUARY 24, 2012 HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE UNREASONABLE TIME FRAME IN WHICH THE RECALL REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS RUST TOGETHER WHEN THERE IS MOISTURE IN AIR AND PARKING BRAKE IS USED. REAR BRAKE ROTORS ROTTED BADLY ON INSIDE EDGE. RIGHT ROTOR COMPLETLY FAILED BRAKE PAD DRAGING. 16 INCH ALLOY WHEELS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, THE FUSION BEGAN TO JERK AND SHAKE DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE ITS SPEED VERY QUICKLY, ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. THE DEALERSHIP ENDED UP HAVING TO DO A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL AT ONLY 13,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM CAME BACK AROUND 20,000 MILES AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT NEEDED ITS CODES REPROGRAMMED. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND AROUND 70,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING. AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND JERKED. NOW THE DEALERSHIP CONVENIENTLY RECOMMENDS A NEW TRANSMISSION, NOW THAT I AM OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY AT A COST OF $4,000! THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND HAVING A NEWBORN CHILD IN THE VEHICLE MAKES IT EVEN MORE ALARMING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND STRONGLY FEEL THAT FORD NEEDS TO MAKE ITS CUSTOMERS WHOLE BY RECALLING THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS ENTIRELY. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED. THE PREVIOUS OWNER SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER SHE BOUGHT IT. DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WON'T LOCK, AND IS DIFFICULT TO OPEN. IT WON'T OPEN USING THE LONG DOOR LATCH, I HAVE TO USE THAT TINY LATCH ABOVE IT. AND IT WON'T LOCK, EVEN WITH THE REMOTE LOCK BUTTON EITHER. MY CAR IS COMPLETELY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT ALL TIMES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V574000 (WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS) HOWEVER THE LUG NUT STUDS FRACTURED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE LUG NUT STUDS BECAUSE THE REMEDY WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DEFECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFECTIVE LUG NUTS CAUSED FIVE LUG NUT STUDS TO FRACTURE, WHICH WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,448.

IN COLD/INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE WIPERS WILL NOT STAY DEFROSTED AND WILL FREEZE TO THE WINDSHIELD & NOT COME ON, OR WILL NOT CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD FOR ENOUGH VISIBILITY TO SEE THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAN CAUSE A CRASH. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE WIPERS SIT TOO FAR BELOW THE DEFROSTER VENTS ON THE CAR. I LET MY CAR WARM UP FOR 15 MINS ON DEC 12TH AND MADE SURE THEY WERE CLEAN BEFORE I GOT ON THE PARKWAY. AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD 20 MINUTES & LEAVING MY DEFROSTER ON HIGH, I TURNED MY WIPERS ON TO CLEAR THE DIRTY WATER/SLUSH THROWN ON MY CAR BY 18 WHEELERS. THE WIPERS STUCK AGAIN, AND I RAN OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY LOOKING OUT THE SIDE WINDOWS TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO PRY THE WIPERS OFF THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE THEY HAD FROZE AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. THE OTHER TWO TIMES WERE IN 2010. I COULDN'T REMEMBER THE FIRST TWO DATES, SO I USED THE MOST CURRENT AS THE INFO ABOVE INCLUDING MILEAGE. I TRY TO AVOID DRIVING MY CAR DURING FREEZING MOIST CONDITIONS BECAUSE I'M SCARED I WILL WRECK. I NOTIFIED FORD A FEW DAYS AGO AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO THE SITUATION, BUT THEY TOLD ME THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. I SHOULDN'T BE SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR! *TT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LUG STUDS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH WHEN I REALIZED, THE GAS PEDAL WASN'T WORKING. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION THEN THE CAR STARTING KNOCKING LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS SO I COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED ABOUT 5 MINS AND TRIED TO START THE CAR. IT STARTED UP FINE AND DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS TURNING AT A LIGHT AND IT THE ACCELERATION STOPPED AGAIN. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A MEDIAN FOR TURN LANES THAT I COATED IN TO. OTHERWISE, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO FORD, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY. IT TOOK SEVERAL DAYS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THAT FORD HAD CHANGED MANUFACTURERS. THIS MADE ME WONDER WHY WAS THE PART ON BACK ORDER - IT SEEMED LIKE SUCH AN ODD THING TO HAPPEN ON A FAIRLY NEW CAR AND WHY WOULD FORD HAVE CHANGED MANUFACTURERS. I GOOGLED MY YEAR AND MODEL AND DISCUSSED THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. MY SON STARTED DRIVING A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND THANK GOODNESS THIS HAPPENED WITH ME IN THE CAR AND NOT AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER. WITH THE CAR SUDDENLY DYING AND NO GAS, THIS PRESENTS WITH A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION DEPENDING ON THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC YOU MAY BE IN. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT FOR RECALL REPAIRS, BUT THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS WORRIED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO BEING ABLE TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE THAT WAS FOLLOWING THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY TURN TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE CONTACT HOWEVER, THE SECOND VEHICLE BECAME INVOLVED IN A CRASH AS A RESULT. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE YEAR LATER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,500.
EARLY IN 2012 ONE WHEEL STUD BROKE. ALL LUG NUTS WERE REPLACED IN MARCH OF 2012 PER FORD RECALL NO. 11S23. I ALSO REPLACED ALL OF THE WHEEL STUDS. WHEEL STUDS ARE CONTINUING TO FRACTURE. AT LEAST TWO STUDS WERE REPLACED AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER, 2014, AND TWO MORE IN OCTOBER 2015.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SHE PARKED THE VEHICLE, SHE BECAME AWARE THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS MISSING A WHEEL STUD AND LUG NUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ON THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT WHEELS A TOTAL OF 8 TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN 8 TIMES TO LAIRD NOLLER FORD TOPEKA LOCATED AT 2245 SW TOPEKA BLVD, TOPEKA, KS 66611, (785) 235-9211 AND THE WHEEL STUD AND A LUG NUT WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,998.
I HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION S, I WAS DRIVING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS BREAK WHEN MY CAR SHUT OFF AND HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I DIDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR LIKE FIVE DAYS AND THE CAR WAS FINE BUT IT STARTED BACK UP IN JANURARY AND AGAIN IN THE BEGINNING OF MARCH. IT HAS A CODE OF P211 WHICH IS THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM AND MULTIPLE FORD FUSION'S ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS I AM. FOR SOME REASON FORD IS TRYING TO AVOID HEARING THE ISSUE ON THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE FAULTY THROTTLE BODIES. IT IS A SAFTEY ISSUE WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE AT 60-70 MPH AND ALL OF SUDDEN YOUR CAR NO LONGER HAS A THROTTLE RESPONSE. YOU HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SHUT YOUR CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. THIS DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM IT JUST DOES IT ALL OVER AGAIN WITHIN THE NEXT MILE OR TWO. FORD SHOULD REALIZE THE ISSUE AND MAKE A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. THERE ARE PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES THAT ARE PAYING BETWEEN $400-$600 OUT OF THEIR POCKET IF THEIR CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY TO FIX A COMMON PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH FORD FUSIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK, SHAKE AND DECELERATE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND AFTER RESTARTING, WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. UPDATED 02/15/12*LJ THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON DEC 28TH AND WAS RETURNED TO THE CONSUMER THE NEXT DAY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO PULL UP CODE FROM THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER, WHICH STATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH A NEW BATTERY. UPDATED 02/29/12
"UNKNOWN OR OTHER" IN THIS CASE WOULD LIKELY RELATE TO "POWER TRAIN" AND/OR "ELECTRICAL," BUT DEFINITELY RELATES TO PUBLIC SAFETY. THE IGNITION TUMBLER RELEASES THE KEY IN ANY POSITION--PARK, NEUTRAL, DRIVE, OR LOW--RATHER THAN IN ONLY PARK. DRIVERS OF CARS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ARE ACCUSTOMED TO SETTING HAND BRAKES USING GEARS. PRIOR THE THE DATE OF INCIDENT ABOVE, I RECALL MOVING SLIGHTLY FORWARD ON A SLIGHT SLOPE, AND I SIMPLY APPLIED THE HAND BRAKE TO AVOID PUTTING MORE STRAIN ON DRIVE COMPONENTS. AFTER A DEAD BATTERY (DUE TO LIGHTED DASH GEAR POSITION INDICATOR) AND A JUMP START, IT WAS DAYS LATER THAT I REALIZED THAT THE KEY HAD BEEN REMOVED WITH THE CAR IN GEAR. THE FORD DEALER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAY REPAIR CONSISTS OF REPLACING THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY (INCLUDES SENDING UNIT WHICH HAS NO "OUTPUT") AT A COST TO ME OF $487.65 + TAX. THEY CLAIM THIS IS NOT A POWER TRAIN ISSUE AND THAT MY "CPO" EXPIRED LESS THAN A MONTH EARLIER, THIS ON A FORD "CERTIFIED" CAR. PUBLIC SAFETY IS INVOLVED BECAUSE A ROLLING CAR CAN CAUSE HAVOC. *TR
LOST PARKING FUNCTION ON THE TRANSMISSION. PARKING FUNCTION IS MISSING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AFTER I PARK THE CAR. DIDN'T REALIZE UNTIL AFTER I PARKED MY CAR. WAS WALKING TOWARDS THE BUILDING THAT I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS ROLLING BACK AND HAD TO RUN BACK, UNLOCK THE CAR AND THEN PUSH THE BRAKE. AFTER INVESTIGATING REALIZED THAT THE "P" FUNCTION WAS MISSING. DID HEAR A HUGE CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I TRIED TO PARK IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND MAKE FORD PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE 2.5 L 6F35 TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION AND THE PARKING PAWL BROKEN INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS NECESSARY TO USE PARKING BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR STEADY DURING PARKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING MORNING WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND HAD DAMAGED THE ROTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,900. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 6F35 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING LINGERING DEFECTS. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN LATE NOVEMBER 2011 AND NOTIFIED THEM OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MY INVOICE READS, REPROGRAM PCM TO LATEST LEVEL AND RESET FLUID LEVEL PER TSB 11-11-23. THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE. I WILL ADMIT THAT THE FLARING PROBLEM HAS IMPROVED, ALTHOUGH THE REMAINING PROBLEMS PERSIST WHILE THE OVERALL FEELING OF TRANSMISSION DEGRADATION SEEMS TO BE ACCELERATED. MY TRANS. CONTINUES TO STRUGGLE AND FEEL WORN OUT DURING LOW END ACCELERATION. AN INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE FROM A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC DISCOVERED BURNED UP CLUTCH MATERIAL WITHIN THE CONTAMINATED TRANSMISSION FLUID. HE SHOWED IT TO ME, AND I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES. THE DEALERSHIP I WAS JUST AT WASN'T ABLE TO FIND ANY BURNED UP CLUTCH MATERIAL IN MY FLUID OR THE LEFT FRONT AXLE HALF SHAFT SEAL LEAK WHICH MY MECHANIC ALSO DISCOVERED UPON HIS INSPECTION. I FIND IT VERY FISHY THAT THESE 2 PROBLEMS AUTOMATICALLY DISAPPEARED BY THEMSELVES, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER FROM FORD MADE REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS IN HIS OR HER POSSESSION DURING THE DEFENDANTS LEGAL INSPECTION FOR MY LEMON LAW SUIT AT ELDER FORD IN TROY, MICHIGAN. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT 69 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE CAR JUST LOST POWER. I FIRST NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, THEN SAW THE ANTI THEFT LIGHT ILLUMINATE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH, THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION/POWER, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND WE HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE. THIS DIDN'T CAUSE ANY GREAT ACCELERATION BUT, CONSIDERING MY WIFE'S EXPERIENCE, I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. JUST AS I GOT INTO NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO 2500 TO 3000RPMS. FOUR DAYS LATER THE CAR DID THE SAME THING ON THE HIGHWAY. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED IT THE NEXT DAY AND STATED ALL THE WIRING. I WILL SAY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD US THEY WERE ON THE PHONE WITH FORD THAT DAY AND FOUND NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS, BUT DID STATE THAT IF THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WOULD BE REPLACED. OF COURSE MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS IF AND WHEN MIGHT THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, HOPEFULLY NOT ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE ENJOYED MY FUSION BUT FORD SHOULD TAKE SOME RESPONSIBLILTY FOR THIS BEFORE A DEADLY SITUTAION HAPPENS. *TR
CAR HAD A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO LOSE POWER. YOU COULD BE RUNNING ANY SPEED AND THE CAR WOULD JERK AND YOU WOULD HAVE NO POWER CAR WOULD COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS ON THE INTERSTATE OR ANY HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE DEALER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN I DESCRIBED IT TO HIM,WHICH LED ME TO BELIEVE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES. CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW WHERE MANY OTHERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD TOLD ME IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND WERE SORRY IT HAD HAPPENED BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. CASE #[XXX]. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE THROTTLE BODY FAILS PUTTING THE CAR INTO "LIMP MODE". ACCELERATION IS IMPOSSIBLE AND THE CAR WILL STALL WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD. AFTER A SINGLE SEARCH ONLINE FOR "FORD FUSION THROTTLE BODY" NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF SIMILAR FAILURES APPEAR BEGINNING IN APPROXIMATELY 2005. THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE BUT MAINTAIN ELECTRICAL POWER UNTIL THE VEHICLE STALLS. THIS OCCURRED TO ME WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH AND IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. THE PROBLEM IS SO WIDESPREAD THAT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERS MAINTAIN A STOCK OF THROTTLE BODY UNITS TO REPLACE. THE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT VERY HIGH BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF STALLING OUT AND LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *KB
I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, IT TURNED GREEN AND STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO ROUGH IDLE, THE WRENCH INDICATOR LIT UP AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THERE WAS MINIMAL RESPONSE TO THROTTLE INPUT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD OUT OF TRAFFIC TO A SAFE SPOT. I LEFT THE CAR RUNNING TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE TACHOMETER WAS FLUCTUATING MAINLY DOWNWARD AS IT IDLED ROUGH. AFTER ABOUT TWO MINUTES I TURNED OFF THE MOTOR. I MADE A FEW PHONE CALLS AND WHILE CALLING ROADSIDE ASSIST DECIDED TO TRY AND START THE CAR. IT STARTED AND I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT, THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONCERN AND WAS NOT ABLE TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE. THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO SUGGEST REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY. IT COST ME $512.38. NEEDLESSTO SAY I AM NOT AT ALL HAPPY WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE OCCURRED IN A MORE DYNAMIC SETTING, HEAVY TRAFFIC, LANE CHANGE OR MERGING, ETC, POTENTIALLY CAUSING THREAT TO MY LIFE AND THAT OF OTHERS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER IN MY OPINION. *TR
I OWN A 2010 FORD FUSION WHICH WE PURCHASED OCTOBER 2010. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY LOCAL REPAIR/INSPECTION PROVIDER (NOT THE FORD DEALER) TO HAVE OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION AND INSPECTION STICKER. WHILE MY CAR WAS THERE IT WAS NOTED THAT ONE OF THE WHEEL STUDS (FRONT PASSENGER) WAS SNAPPED OFF AND APPEARED TO HAVE HAPPENED AWHILE AGO BECAUSE THE EXPOSED COMPONENT WAS RUSTED. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I CONTACT FORD DEALER TO SEE IF COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND INSPECTION COULD NOT PROCEED UNTIL REPAIRED. I BROUGHT IT TO FORD DEALER WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED THE NEXT DAY. THEY STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED AND WOULD NOT EVEN INSPECT IT FOR DEFECTS. STATED THERE WAS NO POSSIBLE WAY IT COULD FRACTURE ON ITS OWN AND MUST HAVE HAPPENED AT PREVIOUS REPAIR SHOP WHEN THEY WERE TAKING THE WHEELS OFF FOR ROTATION. THEY STATED IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $125 TO REPAIR ONE STUD. I DECLINED AND RETURNED TO THE PREVIOUS REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED FOR HALF THE COST. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT MY TIRES HAD NEVER BEEN SERVICED BEFORE AND THIS DEFECT WAS NOTED PRIOR TO THE ROTATION. *TR
MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT AND WE BOUGHT IT NEW IN OCT. 2009. SEPT 29, 2012 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN IT MADE A NOISE THEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS NO POWER. I PULLED OVER AND THE CAR DIED THEN I RESTARTED IT AND IT DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE 30 MILE TRIP. I'VE CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. TODAY I'M PICKING IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER 2 DAYS AND THE MECHANIC CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO CODE SHOWING THAT THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T CHARGING ME FOR CHECKING IT OUT BUT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD THEM THAT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM THEY WON'T TAKE CARE OF IT BECAUSE THE CAR ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL LUG HAS SNAPPED OFF. *TR
ON THREE SEPERATE INCIDENTS, I FOUND WHEEL LUGS MISSING FROM MY RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. FORD SHIPPED PARTS TO MY DEALER 3 TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THIS LAST TIME (4TH) I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE HWY AND TURNED INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WORK WHEN THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL CAME OFF AND ROLLED ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. THE DEALER EST IS OVER $3K IN DAMAGE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THE 4TH TIME ON THE SAME WHEEL, FORD HAS DECIDED TO FIX THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE SHOULD EVEN BE ON THE ROAD ANY MORE. TWO MINUTES EARLIER AND THE WHEEL WOULD HAVE CAME OFF AT HIGH SPEEDS. THERE IS DEFINITELY A DANGER TO ME, MY PASSANGERS AND ANY OTHER PEOPLE IN THE AREA WHEN THE WHEEL DECIDES TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE WAS RESISTANT TO SHIFTING GEARS. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A THROTTLE BODY DEFECT. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,500.
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE I-81 THE DASH LIGHTS STARTED GOING COMPLETELY OFF AND STAYING OFF FOR QUITE SOMETIME BEFORE COMING BACK ON. I WAS NOT REALLY SURE IF I HAD HEADLIGHTS UNTIL LATER WHEN STOPPING BEHIND SOMEONE ON MY DESTINATION AND WAS ABLE TO SEE MY HEADLIGHTS IN THEIR REAR CAR. THE WEATHER WAS HORRIBLE, RAINING VERY HARD AND VISIBILITY WAS REALLY ONLY A FEW FEET AWAY. I TURN ON MY FOG LIGHTS JUST IN CASE I HAD NO HEADLIGHTS. I HAD HOPED THEY WORK BUT I DID NOT GET OUT IN THE POURING RAIN TO CHECK. FORTUNATELY, THIS INCIDENT WAS DURING THE DAYTIME AND NOT AT NIGHT. THIS COULD HAVE LEAD TO A FATAL ACCIDENT IF IT WAS AT NIGHT. I FEEL THAT OTHERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT WITH NO COST TO OWNER. ALSO THE SPOTS ON THE CHARCOAL DASH SHOULD BE DEALT WITH BY FORD BECAUSE THERE IS SOME REASON OTHER THAN SUNLIGHT OR CLEANER THAT HAS CAUSE THIS, FOR I HAVE ONLY CLEAN DASH WITH A DAMP CLOTH AND THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT EXCEPT FOR THE TIME IT SPENT ON THE DEALERSHIP LOT. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE CHARCOAL DASH ON THE FORD FUSION ONLINE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS VERY RUDE WHEN I ASK ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SEEM TO CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS ON THIS BEHALF AND ACCUSE ME OF USING SOME TYPE OF HARSE CLEANER ON IT...WOULD NOT EVEN LISTEN TO WHAT I HAD TO SAY. LETS HOPE THAT FORD STAYS BEHIND THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH PROBLEMS ON THE FUSION SINCE IT DOES HAVE SOME PROBLEMS. *TR
