POWER STEERING MOTOR MOUNTING EARS ARE CRACKING DUE TO CORROSION WE HAVE SOME OF THEM LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING THIS IS A FLEET CAR THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FORD JUST REPLACED TWO FOR FREE THET OUT OF WARRANTY
ON MARCH 26TH, 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:40PM MY 2013 FORD FUSION (VIN #[XXX]) CAUGHT FIRE UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THIS OCCURRED AFTER APPROXIMATELY A 5 MINUTE DRIVE. THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR OVER 5 HOURS AND ON MY RIDE HOME A LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH SHOWING COOLANT/ENGINE OVERHEATING AND SMOKE BEGAN TO APPEAR FROM THE HOOD (THIS OCCURRED AS I ENTERED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH). I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY SLOWLY AND PULL INTO A GAS STATION. THERE THE CAR CONTINUED TO SMOKE AND A PERSON THERE POINTED UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHERE THE FIRE WAS GOING. IT TOOK TWO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO A RECALL 17S09. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TWICE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. ON 6/22/17 I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO CARMAX TO HAVE THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR REPLACED AFTER EXPERIENCING OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. I THEN TOOK THE CAR INTO TUTTLE-CLICK CAPISTRANO FORD TO HAVE THE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM INSTALLATION WORK DONE PER THE RECALL ON 7/7/17. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT IT FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO VILLA FORD (2550 N TUSTIN ST, ORANGE, CA 92865, (714) 637-8222) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT ME ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN COLLISION HAPPENED
CAR WOULD NOT START WITH KEY IN IGNITION; JUMPED 12V BATTERY TO TAKE TO DEALER. 12V BATTERY REPLACED 3/20/18 ($210). ON 6/10/2018, AGAIN, CAR WOULD NOT START. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY NEW BATTERY NOT WORKING; REPLACED, 12V AGAIN ($0 UNDER WARRANTY). ON 7/19/2018, AGAIN, VEHICLE NOT STARTING; ABSOLUTELY NO ELECTRONIC DISPLAY IN DASH, THEREFORE, LOOKS TO BE 12V BATTERY PROBLEM, AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE A PROBLEM W/ ABILITY TO MAINTAIN 12V BATTERY CHARGED AND SYSTEM INOPERABLE EVEN AFTER NEW BATTERY REPLACEMENT.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEGUN TO STALL OUT. IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY RANDOM TIME WHILE DRIVING, WHILE STOPPED, OR WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP THIS WEEK AND OF COURSE THEY SAY THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR AND IT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE!! MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY GOES OFF AND ON BUT WHEN PLUGGED IN IT ISN'T PULLING ANY CODES. I HAVE A SON AND I LIVE IN MEMPHIS, TN AND THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT IS NOT ONLY PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER BUT ALSO MY SON'S LIFE AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. I AM LITERALLY SCARED TO DRIVE ANYWHERE WITH MY SON IN THE VEHICLE OUT OF FEAR MY CAR IS GOING TO DIE AND I AM GOING TO END UP IN A HORRIBLE CRASH! I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SEEN TONS MORE ONLINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE! UNHAPPY WITH FORD AND MY VEHICLE AT THIS POINT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE ENDS UP SEVERELY INJURED OR DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V875000 (SEAT BELTS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
I WAS DRIVING AS USUAL. THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AND THE RED WARNING SIGN CAME ON AND READS " ENGINE COOLANT OVERTEMPERATURE ". AT THIS POINT, THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT AND THE SPEED SLOWED TO A CRAWL WHILE WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY. THIS PUT US ( MY TWO CHILDREN AND I ) IN SO MUCH DANGER! CARS WERE HONKING AND WHIZZING BY US WHICH SCARED MY CHILDREN. WHEN WE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. COINCIDENTALLY, WE JUST GOT A LETTER FROM FORD THAT STATES A RECALL THAT DESCRIBED WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CAR. SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 17S09 / NHTSA RECALL 17V-209
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. ALSO, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED TOO HIGH AND THE "ANTIFREEZE OVERHEATING" WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, FLAMES WERE DISCOVERED COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND WARNING CAME ON "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAIL" I WAS DRIVING MY TWO CHILDREN TO SCHOOL AT THE TIME!
DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON LOCAL STREET. EXHIBITED LOUD NOISE AND STARTED TO VIBRATE. EVENTUALLY COMING TO AN ABRUPT STOP. LUCKILY TRAFFIC AS LIGHT AND THE CAR BEHIND MANAGED TO STOP SAFELY AND AVOID A COLLISION. MANAGED TO TURN THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS OPERATIONAL, EXHIBITING KIND OF GRINDING NOISE. FORD DEALER SAYS THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR IS FULLY SERVICED, NO WARNING LIGHTS EVEN WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED - THERE WAS NOTHING INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR HAS A BIT LESS THAN 105K MILES, WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 100K IN DECEMBER 2017. FORD HAS A FEW TSBS DESCRIBING CVT TRANSMISSIN ISSUES: 14B07 AND 17-039. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED REGARDING ANY OF THE ISSUES IN THESE BULLETINS AND TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SERVICED. NOW IT COMPLETELY FAILED OUT OF THE BLUE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, BARELY AVOIDING ACCIDENT.
STEERING WHEEL IS CONSTANTLY COMING LOOSE. I AM ABLE TO TIGHTEN IT MYSELF, VUT WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAY IT IS LOOSE AGAIN. I JUST TRIED TO TURN INTO MY LOCAL WALGREENS AND THE STEERING WHEEL CAME OFF THE BOLT COMPLETELY AND JUST SPUN. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
LOSS OF STEERING HAS CRACKED DRIVE MOTOR ON STEERING RACK FLEET CAR 3RD ONE WITH SAME PROBLEM COWL LEAK WATER ON STEERING MOTOR CAUSING CORROSION THEN RUST JACKING BRAKING OFF MOUNTING EAR ON DRIVE MOTOR COMMON PROBLEM
VEHICLES ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST SERVICE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, BUT REMAINED FUNCTIONAL UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND ENGINE TURNED OFF. UPON RESTART THE SERVICE STEERING NOW LIGHT WAS ON, WITH NO POWER STEERING. LUCKILY NOBODY WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE STEERING SYSTEM COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING OR THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE CLAIMING 1,700 TO FIX THE VEHICLE THAT HAS ONLY 42,000 MILES AND WAS PROPERLY MAINTAINED BY THEM! THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART BECAUSE OF THE YEAR OF THE VEHICLE (ALTHOUGH OVER HALF A MILLION RECALLS ON SEVERAL OTHERS INCLUDING FORD FUSIONS). THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR FORD TO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH DOES NOT LATCH. THIS WAS APPARENTLY SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED DECEMBER 2013.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GARY CROSSLEY FORD (8050 N CHURCH RD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64158, (816) 781-4844) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING BACK HOME, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED GARY CROSSLEY FORD AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. HAGERSTOWN FORD (1714 MASSEY BLVD, HAGERSTOWN, MD) CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY DUE TO THE SOFTWARE NOT BEING A VALID REMEDY FOR THE FORD FUSION MODELS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH MY TWO CHILDREN. SHE MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. SHE ALMOST RAN INTO A TRUCK THAT WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THANK GOD THAT THE TRUCK SWERVED AND A ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED. A LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. AFTER A LOT OF RESEARCH I'VE FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN CERTAIN FORD MODELS. I'VE TALKED TO FORD AND THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL. HOW CAN SOMETHING SO DANGEROUS AND WITH SO MANY INCIDENTS NOT BE THERE RESPONSIBILITY. IT SEEMS AS IF THEY COULD CARELESS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THERE CUSTOMERS. $1950.00 LATER AND IT IS FIXED. NOW I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT HAPPENING AGAIN. VERY DISAPPOINTED ON HOW FORD IS HANDLING SUCH A DANGEROUS ISSUE. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW AND TALKING TO MULTIPLE QUALIFIED MECHANICS I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM IS IN A PLACE THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE. IT CAN NOT HANDLE THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE MODULE BOX WAS CRACKED WHICH ULTIMATELY CAUSED THIS ISSUE. WHY WOULD THIS CRACK. IT'S STATIONARY. THERE IS NO REASON WHY FORD IS NOT TAKING FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAULTY SET UP THAT WILL ULTIMATELY ENDING WITH A FATALITY IF THERE ALREADY HASN'T BEEN.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING OUT AFTER FUELING, AS WELL AS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AND AT RED LIGHTS. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP, AND THE DIAGNOSTICS INDICATING IS WAS "LOW FUEL PRESSURE" READING, SO THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. TWO DAYS LATER, I FILLED UP WITH GAS AND IT STALLED OUT WHILE IN MOTION AT 40 MILES AN HOUR, AND WITHIN 15 MINUTES, IT STALLED AGAIN AT THE RED LIGHT. I CAN FEEL THE CAR BEGINNING TO STALL, SO I PUT IT IN PARK, SO I CAN GIVE IT GAS... SOMETIMES THIS WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY INSTANCES WHERE I'M IN THE INTERSECTION, AT A MEDIAN, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR WILL STALL OUT... THIS IS VERY CONCERNING, AND DANGEROUS... MY LIFE AS WELL AS OTHERS COULD BE IN DANGER DUE TO A FAULTY SYSTEM.
I TOOK A TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND LOST MY ELECTRIC STEERING COMPLETELY. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED IT AN "INTERNAL FAILURE". THEY SAID THE STEERING GEAR (OR STEERING RACK) CAME APART INTERNALLY. THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT WILL COST ME $2,200. IT WAS VERY SCARY AS I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. THANK GOODNESS I WAS STILL IN A PARKING LOT, AND MANAGED TO TURN INTO A SPOT AWAY FROM MOVING VEHICLES.
ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. AFTER IT STALLS YOU CAN PUT IT IN PARK, APPLY BREAK AND IT WILL RESTART. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING TO HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY. NO FAULT CODE OR SERVICE LIGHTS. IT ALWAYS DOES THIS AFTER IT HAS SET FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER RUNNING AND THEN WILL STALL ABOUT THE TIME YOU GET ON THE ROAD. ( 200 FEET )
HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT SO OFTEN! YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE BUMPER IN ORDER TO ACCESS SWITCHING THESE BULBS. THIS IS COSTLY IN LABOR AND FORD OEM PARTS. WHEN ONE HEADLIGHT GOES OUT IT TRIGGERS THEM ALL TO GO OUT. VERY DANGEROUS IF ON A ROAD TRIP OR DRIVING AT NIGHT. WAS SOLD A VEHICLE WITH MY HEADLIGHT PIGTAIL PLUGS CORRODED. ESTIMATE IS $680 FROM FORD TO FIX MY ISSUE! $360 FOR JUST A HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME 2013 FUSIONS THEY CLAIM A DEFECTIVE FILM HOWEVER IVE SPOKEN TO DOZENS OF OTHER OWNERS ON FORD FORUMS AT THIS POINT, WHO HAVE MY SAME ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHT LOW BEAMS GOING OUT WITHIN A YEAR. PLANNING ON GETTING TOGETHER AND FILING A MASS CLAIM IF THEY DONT RECTIFY MY CORRODED EQUIPMENT ISSUE. MIGHT HAVE TO STEER PEOPLE AWAY FROM BUYING FUSIONS. I WAS PULLED OVER FOR THIS TOO AND NEARLY HIT BY SPEEDING CARS ONLY TO FIND OUT IT WAS NOT EVEN A BURNT BULB.
I WAS DRIVING ON RYE 24 SOUTH BROCKTON MA PULLED OVER TO BREAKDOWN LANE TRANAFTER SHIFTING TO PARK WHEN I GOT OUT THE CAR SHIFTED BACK TO REVERSE AND SPED UP BACKWARD KNOCKED ME DOWN WHILE DOOR OPEN AND ROLLED OVER MY LEFT LEG.
AFTER DRIVING TO THE GROCERY STORE I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE. WITHOUT TURNING IT, THERE IS ABOUT 1/8 INCH OF PLAY NOW BETWEEN THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE WHEEL WHEN PRESSING DOWN ON IT. ITS NOW A LITTLE FLOPPY/WOBBLY WHEN DRIVING.
THERE IS CURRENTLY A CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM (13N03) IN WHICH FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ON CERTAIN VEHICLES. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND DISCOVERED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SATISFACTION PROGRAM. I WAS TOLD BY THE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL FORD MECHANIC DEALERSHIP THAT THE ETB WERE ALL MADE WITH THE SAME PARTS AND HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED UNDER THE SATISFACTION PROGRAM/EXTENDED WARRANT. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN I AM PULLING OUT ONTO A CITY STREET AFTER HAVING JUST STARTED MY VEHICLE LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND MY CAR HAS STALLED/DIED RESULTING IN NEAR FATAL ACCIDENTS SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS IMOBILE. THE OTHER DAY I WAS ALMOST T-BONED AND THANKFULLY THE ONCOMING VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER AROUND MY STALLED VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY HAVE STATED THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION ENERGI. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE MIDDLE SECOND ROW SEAT BELT SEIZED AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT UNLATCH THE SEAT BELT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. KEN GRODY FORD IN BUENA PARK, CALIFORNIA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000.
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT GOING OUT CONSTANTLY. NEED TO TAKE BUMPER OFF TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS, NOT A CHEAP OR EASY FIX. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SOME VEHICLES BEING RECALLED FOR REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE ISN'T ON THE RECALL LIST BUT IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY CONCERNS THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR. THIS FAULTY VALVE IS CAUSE PRESSURE TO BUILD UP IN THE FUEL TANK THAT COULD POSSIBLE CAUSE AN EXPLOSION OR FIRE. WAITING 2-3 MONTHS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. ALSO, NO WARNING TO MYSELF WAS PROVIDED FROM THE 2 DEALERSHIPS THAT DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE AND THAT I TALKED TO TO GET THIS PART. I ONLY FOUND OUT BY DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH. PROBLEM STILL ISN'T FIXED, WAITING ON PARTS.

THE CAR'S CHROME LUG NUTS ARE ACTUALLY CHROME CAPS OVER THE STEEL LUG NUTS AND THEY WERE ALL SWOLLEN UP TO THE POINT TWO TIRE SHOPS COULD NOT TAKE THEM OFF WITHOUT DAMAGING THEM IN AUTUMN OF 2017. ON JANUARY 29, 2018 I BOUGHT 20 ONE PIECE CHROME LUG NUTS FROM THE AUTO ZONE STORE FOR $60.90 AS DEWEY FORD SAID FORD DOES NOT HAVE ONE PIECE AVAILABLE, THEN WROTE FORD MOTOR CO. A LETTER ASKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT.I ALSO TOLD THEM I HAD ALREADY REPLACED EIGHT CAPPED NUTS ON 7/29/2016. FORD DENIED PAYMENT CLAIMING IT TO BE A MAINTENANCE ITEM. I PAID $34.24 FOR REPLACEMENT CAPPED NUTS WHICH I DID NOT MAKE A MONETARY CLAIM IN THE LETTER BUT I DO WANT THEM TO PAY ME BACK FOR THOSE ALSO. I AM CLAIMING FORD KNEW THE CAPPED NUTS ARE AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND I NEED TO BE PAID $95.14. I DO HAVE THE BAD LUG NUTS WHICH THEY OR YOU MAY EXAMINE IF WISHED TO DO.

I CHECKED AND THE RECALL STATED THAT A FIRE COULD OCCUR IF THESE SPECIFIC THINGS OCCURRED. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND VERIFIED OF RECALL. WAITING ON DIAGNOSIS NOW.

ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD RECALL: THE RECALL CAME OUT EARLY IN 2017 STATING THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD MAY CRACK CAUSING AN OIL LEAK THAT MAY RESULT IN A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE RECOMMENDATION WAS TO KEEP COOLANT LEVEL PROPERLY MAINTAINED WHICH WAS DONE, HOWEVER, THE COOLANT KEPT DISAPPEARING AND GOING INSIDE THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THE ENGINE FAILED JAN 20, 2018 BEFORE A RESOLUTION BY FORD COULD BE FOUND. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN FAYETTE, AL WHERE IT HAS REMAINED FOR TWO MONTHS. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUNAROUND BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY UNTIL TODAY WHEN THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT MEET MY EXPECTATIONS AND REFERRED ME BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE LOCAL DEALER OFFERED TO SELL ME A USED ENGINE FOR $4000 WHICH I REFUSED TO PURCHASE. MY EXPECTATION IS FOR FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO PAY FOR INVESTIGATION OF THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WHICH THEY HAVE FAILED TO DO. I HAVE A 7 MONTH OLD AND BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS CAR FIXED SINCE JANUARY. THE DEALERSHIP WILL FIX PARTIALLY OF THE THINGS MENTIONED BUT NOT FULLY. THEN HE TOLD ME TODAY HE'S NOT FIXING THE CAR. I'LL DRIVE IT ON THE STREET AND IT'LL JERK. I'LL PULL OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT IT'LL JERK. THE TIRE IN THE BACK DRIVER SIDE GOT FLAT. THE TIRE ON DRIVER SIDE IN FRONT GOT FLAT.

THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE BODY WAS SUBJECT TO A FORD ' CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03', THAT PROGRAM HAS NOW EXPIRED, AND ANY VEHICLES WITH THE NOW MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY WILL RECEIVE NO WARRANTY, OR COMPENSATION FOR REPAIR COSTS. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THIS PRESENTS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE STEERING ISSUE: TWO RECALLS WERE ISSUED FROM FORD REGARDING THIS ISSUE. FORD 13S06, NHTSA 13V232000 FORD 15S14, NHTSA 15V250000 OUR VEHICLE WA NOT SUBJECT TO THE FIRST RECALL, BUT WAS SUBJECT TO THE SECOND. THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER ON MAY 15, 2015, THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES AT THAT TIME. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE STEERING GEAR MOTOR FOR MOUNTING BOLT CORROSION. THE BOLTS WERE APPARENTLY FOUND TO ALL BE INTACT, AND A SIMPLE 'ANTI RUST WAX' WAS APPLIED TO THE BOLTS. PER FORDS DIRECTIVE, IF ANY OF THE MOUNTING BOLTS WERE MISSING/BROKEN, A COMPLETELY NEW STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS TO BE INSTALLED. WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN THE SUMMER OF 2017, WITH 55,500 MILES ON IT. AT JUST OVER 60,000 MILES, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS CAR, AND ALL THESE MECHANICAL ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED WHEN SHE IS BEHIND THE WHEEL. THE INTERMITTENT STALLING, AND MOST RECENTLY THE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING THANKFULLY DID NOT RESULT IN ACCIDENT OR INJURY. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS DRIVING IN A 30 MPH ZONE WHEN THE STEERING FAILED, AND WAS ABLE TO ALLOW THE CAR TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHE WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN PHYSICALLY ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE, UNDER OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES. OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER ADVISED THAT FORD WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THE STEERING REPAIR. A SUBSEQUENT FOLLOW UP WITH FORD DIRECTLY VERIFIED SAME. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A SAFETY RECALL.

IT TENDS TO APPEAR ONCE YOU STOP FOR 10-20 MINUTES AND GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE - BUT EVEN THEN, CAN BE HIT AND MISS. LATELY IN THIS SCENARIO IT'S BEEN STALLING 2 TO 3 TIMES BEFORE RUNNING FINE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A RECOGNIZED FORD ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. WHILE FORD APPEARS TO RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE AND HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON SOME 2013 FORD FUSIONS (UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03), I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT PROGRAM. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT $875 PLUS TAX OF WHICH ONLY $120 WAS LABOR - THIS MAKES THE PART $755. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT FORD IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ACROSS THE ENTIRE LINE. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN MULTIPLE PLACES WHERE I HAVE HAD TRAFFIC COMING AT ME OR BEHIND ME WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILS. IN FACT, THE OTHER DAY IT DIED PULLING OUT OF A STORE IN FRONT OF TWO ONCOMING LANES OF TRAFFIC - FORTUNATELY BOTH VEHICLES COMING DIRECTLY AT MY DRIVERS SIDE WERE ABLE TO GET THEIR VEHICLES STOPPED BEFORE T-BONING ME. PLEASE REQUIRE FORD TO EXPAND ITS PROGRAM.

SINCE IT'S A HYBRID TRANSMISSION, THEY SAID THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION INSTEAD OF THE BEARING. THEY ORDERED PARTS AND WERE GETTING READY TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY AND THEN THEY REALIZED MY CAR WAS BRANDED TITLE AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $5,750. I DECLINED THE REPAIR TO GET SECOND OPINIONS AND TO CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THEY SAID I'D HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. AFTER DOING SOME MORE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT MY PROBLEM IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IT AFFECTS 2013-2014 FUSION AND C-MAX VEHICLES. MY CAR IS ONLY AT 50K MILES, I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. PLEASE HAVE FORD RELEASE RECALL NOTICES TO 2013-2014 FUSION AND C-MAX VEHICLES. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSION BEARINGS AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER RECALL THAT FORD HAS SENT OUT (NOT LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE TITLE). SET CODE C200B FOR STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR WHICH IS THE SAME FAULT THAT THE PREVIOUS FUSION MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR. REPLACED ENTIRE STEERING RACK DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING SENSOR.
