Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)My 2019 Ford fusion while driving, the trunk opens by itself. It blocks the rear view of the vehicle. I had to pull over and close it several times while driving for this. I had to put a bungee cord around the trunk to keep it from opening. The trunk opening by itself is a safety hazard and the contents of what is in the trunk it exposed. I already spent over $210 in repairs with the dealer estimating the cost would be over $1100 including the wire harness from the body control module and including the body control module if the harness does not fix this.
For the third time in two years my trunk opened while I was driving. Today, it opened while I had lumber in the trunk. Had I been on the freeway this could have caused a serious accident. I confirmed that the button on the dash was not being pushed and the emergency release in the trunk was not pulled either. This seems to be a somewhat common issue with Ford Fusions based on online commentary. Please look into this before it leads to serious injuries or worse. Thank you for your help.
