REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 45 MPH, AND VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED, $ 10000 DAMAGE. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. *AK
DRIVING 60MPH ON INTERSTATE PHEASANT FLEW LOW IN FRONT OF VERHICLE, AS THE PHEASANT DISAPEARED IN FROM MY VIEW THE TRUCK DID AN ABRUPT SWIRVE TO THE LEFT, I HAD NO STEERING CONTROL, THE TRUCK WENT FROM THE RIGHT LANE ACCROSS PASSING LANE AND HIT HEAD ON INTO FLAT CONCRETE BERRIER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, OVER $9,000 IN DAMAGE INCLUDING NEW FRAME. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BEING HOISTED ONTO ROLLBACK I NOTICED THAT THE TIE ROD WAS HANGING. THE YOKE WHERE THE TIE ROD IS BOLTED TO (CAST IRON) WAS BROKEN OFF AND I NOTICED A LOT OF PHEASANT REMAINS ON THE TIEROD AND SUSPENSION. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT A SMALL BIRD AS THIS WOULD CAUSE THE CAST IRON YOKE TO BREAK, ALSO WHY MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT TIRE AND RIM DID NOT IMPACT THE CONCRETE BERRIER. WHEN I SAW THE PHEASANT I DID NOT REACT TO IT, I DID NOT TURN THE WHEEL OR HIT THE BRAKES, THIS MAY SOUND FUNNY BUT THE TRUCK SWIRVED LEFT DIRRECTLY INTO THE BERRIER. THE SEAT BELT SAVED ME FROM SERIOUS INJURY. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE PC THAT THE TIE ROD MOUNTS TO AND NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT *AK

WHILE WASHING A WHEEL ON TRUCK THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED A DEEP CUT TO HIS FINGER ON THE EDGE OF THE RAZOR SHARP WHEEL SPOKE, AFTER EXAMINATION OF THE OTHER WHEELS HE FOUND THAT ALL THE SPOKE EDGES WERE SHARP AS WELL. NLM
AT THE END OF AUGUST, BEGINNING OF SEPTEMEBER, WE WERE SENT A LETTER TELLING US THAT OUR VEHICLE WASN'T INVOLVED IN THE TIRE RECALLS. AND NOW WITH MORE REPORTS OUT OF ACCIDENTS INVOLVING WILDERNESS A/V TIRES, I HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED AS OF 12/10/00 THAT THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES. WE HAVE OUR TRUCK ON A LEASE AND I JUST WANTED TO INFORM SOMEONE THAT NOONE IS MAKING AN EFFORT TO BRING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT WITH THESE TIRES TO OUR ATTENTION. *AK

TWO WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE AIRCONDITIONER BROKE TWICE, THEN THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON, THE SEATBELTS WERE RECALLED AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS I.E. THEM GIVE ME A NEW TRUCK OR MY MONEY BACK. ITS GETTING RIDICULOUS.

VEHICLE IS BURNING FUEL TOO FAST. VEHICLE ONLY GETS 12 GALLONS IN CITY WHEN IT SHOULD BE 15 MILES PER GALLON. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THE POOR FUEL MILEAGE. THIS VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH THE FIRESTONE TIRES WHICH WERE REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. THE SPARE TIRE HOWEVER WAS NOT. THE SPARE IS A 15 INCH TIRE. MY COMPANY OWNS 5 FORD RANGERS. OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH NORTHPOINT FORD AND WITH FIRESTONE TO GET THESE TIRES REPAIRED OR REPLACED. I HAVE HAD TWO TRUCKS WHERE THE TIRES HAVE SPLIT AND GOT NO RESPONSE. ONE TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON IT, THE TIRES ARE WORN OUT AND THE TRUCK TODAY THAT BLEW THE SIDEWALLS OUT AND ONCE AGAIN CONTACTED FIRESTONE AND NORTHPOINT FORD AND THEY BOTH ARE TELLING ME IT IS THE OTHER ONES RESPONSIBILITIE TO REPLACE. DRIVER WAS TRAVELING ON EXPRESSWAY IN THE LEFT LANE WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE CAME APART. THERE WAS NO WARNING. WE HAVE BEEN CHECKING THESE TIRES ALMOST DAILY BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT RECALL OF OTHER FIRESTONE TIRES. THEY APPEARED FINE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT, PULLED FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR AND STEPPED ON BRAKES. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT A VERY HIGH RPM AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. AS SOON AS THE BRAKES WERE RELEASED THE TRUCK SPRUNG FORWARD AND CONTINUED TO GAIN SPEED WITH OUT ME STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. AT HOME MY FATHER ADVICED ME TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN VERY FAST. I HIT THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WENT TO A NORMAL IDLE. BOTH FRONT SHOCKS HAVE LEAKED OIL OUT, UNEVEN TIRE WEAR, CRACKS INSIDE BUMPER, HEADLINER AND OTHER BODY JOINTS SHIFTING POSITION, LEFT RADIATOR MOUNT COMPRESSED BADLY. THIS IS THE SECOND RANGER I HAVE SEEN THIS ON TODAY.*AK
I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE RIGHT BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY WITH MY INFANT DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE. WE WERE GOING APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AN HOUR MAX. THE TRUCK MADE A HORRIBLE WINDING NOISE THAN A CRASHING NOISE. IT WAS SO LOUD PEOPLE CAME OUT OF THEIR HOUSES THINKING IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. RIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED THE TRUCK JUST ABRUPTLY STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND THE 4 WHEEL HIGH LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY THE 4 WHEEL LOW LIGHT AND THEN NO LIGHTS. IT WAS TOWED. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HAS GIVEN ME CONFLICTING STORIES ON THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. BEFORE THEY KNEW THE PROBLEM THEY TOLD ME IF IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ME AND MY BABY. THEN ONCE THEY FOUND IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE THAT CRACKED WHEN THE TRUCK SUPPOSIDLY SHIFTED INTO FOUR WHEEL LOW ON IT S OWN, THEY THEN DECIDED THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE IF THEY FIX THE TRANSFER CASE AND THAT IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. WELL, IT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. I SPOKE WITH SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. I DO NOT KNOW WHO TO BELIEVE.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING 35 MPH IN WEST BRANSON, MISSOURI ON SAID DATE (090100). THE TIRE HAD LESS THAN 7000 MILES ON IT. THE AIR TEMPERATURE WAS 100+ DEGREES. THE TIRE WAS PROPERLY INFLATED.
