VEHICLE JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHILE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING AND BRAKES WERE NOT DEPRESSED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
VEHICLE HAS A CONSTANT VIBRATION, AND A VERY HEAVY VIBRATION AT 65MPH. IT COMES UP THROUGH THE SEAT AND THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE TELL ME IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DRIVE SHAFT. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT HAS A HARMONIC IMBALANCE IN THE ENGINE, AND FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT YET. I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY DO, OR JUST START THROWING PARTS AT IT TRYING TO FIND A FIX. I WAS TOLD "THEIR ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON IT". HAVE INQUIRED SINCE AND FOUND THEY STILL HAVE NO ANSWER. IF IT IS THE SHAFT THEN I COULD END UP CATAPULTING MYSELF AND MY VEHICLE. IT HAS AN ALUMINUM SHAFT (FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD), NOT SURE IF THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THOSE AROUND ME. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. PLEASE HELP ME FORCE THE MANUFACTURER TO RESEARCH AND RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ENGINE CONTROL ALLOWS RPM TO STICK ABOVE 2200 RPM WHEN DEPRESSING CLUTCH TO SHIFT. AFTER SHIFTING RPM WONT COME DOWN UNTIL CLUTCH DRAGS IT DOWN. THIS CAUSED WHEELS TO BREAK LOOSE ON SNOW RESULTING IN A BAD SKID IN THE MOUNTAINS. DEALER HAS HAD VEHICLE IN 5 TIMES TO FIX BUT CAN REPLICATE PROBLEM. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT WITH ABOUT ONE OCCURENCE PER DAY. OCCASSIONALLY IT WILL REPEAT 9 OR 10 TIMES IN A ROW. FACTORY ENGINEER PROMISED TO GET A RECORDING DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE THAT CAN BE CONNECTED AND STARTED WHEN PROBLEM IS PRESENT, BUT HAS NOT FOLLOWED THROUGH. WINTER IS COMING AND THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM ON THE ICY MOUNTAIN ROADS I COMMUTE ON.*AK
DRIVING ON AN INCLINE OF ABOUT 30 DEGREES AND STOPPING ON THE INCLINE APPLYI THE FOOT BRAKES, AFTER RELEASING THE FOOT BRAKES THE CAR WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS. WHILE COMING DOWN ON THE SAME INCLINE AND STOPPING ON THE INCLINE WITH THE FOOT BAKES AND SELECTING REV AND RELEASING THE FOOT BARKES THE CAR WOULD ROLL DOWN THE INCLINE. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A CHECK OF THE PROBLEM. THEY RAN SOME TEST AND SAID THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. I DISAGREED, THE TRUCK IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING.*AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS AT DEALER SHIP FOR SERVICE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *AK
WHEN USING SPEED CONTROL SPEED WILL REACH ABOUT 50 MPH, AND VEHCLE WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER CANNOT FIND CAUSE. *AK
THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND THE ENGINE FAILED COMPLETELY WHEN THE CONSUMER ACCELERATED TO A SPEED OF 89-90 MPH. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A FUEL CUT OFF DEVICE WHICH COULD CUT OFF FUEL AT A SPEED OVER 85 MPH. *YH
CONSUMER WAS PARKING VEHICLE AND SLOWLY ROLLED INTO VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND BROKE CONSUMER'S GLASSES. DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE AIRBAGS UNDER WARRANTY. NO DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK
WHENEVER VEHICLE RUNS OVER A BUMP OR A POTHOLE IT CAUSES REAR END TO KICK TO THE RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT. DEALER REPLACED FRONT AND REAR SHOCK, SOME IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE OVERSTEERS WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED LIKE DURING A TURN, THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO ONLY OCCUR WHEN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP. ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *JB
FUEL GAUGE IS VERY INNACURATE, POOR MILEAGE SO FAR (600MI.) ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION (THANK GOODNESS I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT THE TIME) BRAKE LINE COVERING IS BEING ABRADED BY CONTACT WITH THE LEAF SPRINGS (LR). *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A TOYOTA CAMRY. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED*AK. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN MY JOB IN BUFFALO, NY, AND MY HOME IN LEXINGTON, OH, I SUFFERED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND WAS FORCED TO LIMP INTO A LOCAL FORD TRUCK SALES PLACE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY ADVANCED WARNING AND LEFT ME LIMPING ALONG AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH ON THE I-90 THRUWAY DURING RUSH HOUR WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC TRAVELING 65-70 MPH. BY THE TIME I TRAVELED THE APPROXIMATE 10 MILES, I HAD TOTALLY LOST REVERSE GEAR AND HAD SUBSTANTIAL SLIPPAGE OCCURING IN FORWARD GEARS. MECHANICS INSPECTED THE TRANSMISSION AND DISCOVERED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRING IT TO BE REPLACED. FORD TECH CONSULTANTS REVEALED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY FORD RANGERS, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. APPARENTLY, THE TORQUE ON THE TRANSMISSION WAS INCREASED WITHOUT REDESIGNING THE TRANSMISSION OR SEALS TO BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE HIGHER TORQUE. THEREFORE, TRANSMISSION SEALS ARE FAILING UNDER USE, LEADING TO SEVERE DAMAGE OF THE TRANSMISSION. FURTHERMORE, FORD HAS NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE --- EVEN THOUGH THE DAMAGE OCCURRED ON 4/11/01, A NEW REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WON'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL AT LEAST 4/20/01, AN UNACCEPTABLE SITUATION. APPARENTLY MY TRUCK WON'T BE ABLE TO BE RETURNED TO ME FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. FORD TECH CONSULTANTS REVEALED THAT THEY ARE THINKING ABOUT A RECALL, BUT HAVEN'T DECIDED YET. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 9,200 MILES ON IT --- I HAVE HAD IT LESS THAN 4 MONTHS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND REQUIRE FORD TO ASSUME ITS RESPONSIBILITIES BY REQUIRING A RECALL, BY REQUIRING TIMELY REPAIRS, AND BY ASSUMING FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS SMALL POTHOLE OR BUMP THE STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE WANDER BADLY CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. *YH
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN RPMS JUMPED FROM 2800 TO 5000 FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS, IT OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN 30 MINUTES. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AND WAS NOT LIMITED TO ANY GIVEN SPEED. DEALERSHIP HAS LOOKED AT VEHICLE, AND PROCESSER (D99) HAS FAILED. DEALER INFORMED COMSUMER THAT THIS PART WAS NO LONGER BEING MADE, AND NEWER PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE YET. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING LOSS OF POWER WHENEVER AIR CONDITIONER IS BEING USED. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. *AK ALSO THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR WAS REPLACED, ALSO TACHOMETER IS ACTING ERRACTICALLY TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY.*JB VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, CONSUMER HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM DUE TO BRAKES ALSO FAILING, THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE, CLUTCH PEDAL GOES SOFT, CONSUMER HAS HAD TO PULL PEDAL UP AT TIMES, DEALER CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. *SLC
PE00 020; WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A NOISE. LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED AND HIT A ENBANKMENT. TIRE WAS A FIRESTONE, WILDERNESS AT, P23575R15. *AK
THE PROBLEM IS A NON-COMPLIANCE OF THE INSTALLED SPRINGS AND SHOCKS ASSEMBLY. THE WHOLE TRUCK BOUNCES OVER A BUMP INSTEAD OF THE SUSPENSION COMPRESSING AND ABSORBING THE SHOCK. THE RESULTS ARE THAT THE BACK END OF THE TRUCK BOUNCES TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT AND MAKES ME ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ENDED UP ON TWO WHEELS ON ONE OCCASION AND ALMOST ROLLED OVER. THE VEHICLE FINALLY SETTLED BACK DOWN ON ALL FOUR WHEELS AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY.*AK
DOOR SWELLINGS STARTED THEN A LONG LIST FROM THE BODY FRAME TO ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FALIURE OCCURES WHEN THE TEMPATURE CHANGES VEHICLE WAS LEASED BRAND NEW!!!!!!!
DOOR WILL CLOSE, BUT WILL NOT REMAIN SECURE , IT OPENS WHEN CONSUMER DRIVES AROUND A SHARP TURN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
RIGHT FRONT SEAT DOESN'T SLIDE OR TIP FORWARD ENOUGH TO GET INTO REAR OF VEHICLE. ALSO, CAN'T REACH IN TO FASTENED SAFETY BELT WHEN A CHILD IS IN REAR. CONTACTEED FORD, AND FORD STATED THAT WAS THE WAY VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD RANGER. THE DOORS WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE DOOR WAS AJAR. THE FORD DEALER WAS CALLED AND STATED THAT THEY ARE NOT REPAIRING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR VALID WARRANTIES RELATED TO THE FAILURE. A LOCAL MECHANIC REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

VEHICLE HAS NO SECOND GEAR. CONSUMER QUESTIONED DEALER, WHO INFORMED HIM THAT WAS HOW VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED.*AK
WAS HIT HEAD ON AIR BAGS DID NOT WORK. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MP CONSUMER HAD TO APPLY BRAKES, AND THEY LOCKED UP. WOULD NOT RELEASE UNTIL ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF. DUE TO ABS LOCKING UP, VEHICLE SPUN AND HIT A GUARDRAIL. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR STOP LIGHT SOCKET AND INSTALLING A BULB. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. NLM CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SOCKET IS JUNKY, HE HAD TO BEND THE CONTACTS FOR IT TO WORK. *JG
FUEL GUAGE NOT READING PROPERLY, READING EMPTY, IT TAKE 12 GALS. TO FILL THE 19.5 GAL TANK, ALSO MOVING OFF FULL AFTER 20 - 30 MILES AFTER FILL UP, DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL, PLEASE ADVISE. *AK
THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY MEMORY SHORTING IN THE ENGINE COMPUTER AND IS PARTIALLY CORRECTED BY DISCONNECTING POS BATTERY TERMINAL SWITCHING IGNITION ON/OF SEVERAL TIMES THAN RECONNECTING POS BATTERY TERMINAL AND STARTING ENGINE WITHOUT TOUCHING THROTTLE . THAN LET MOTOR WARM UP COMPLETLY , THAN DRIVE GENTLY UNTIL COMPUTER MEMORY IS REPROGRAMED. THIS PARTIAL FIX CAME FROM JACOBS ELECTRONICS NOT FORD WHICH CHARGED ME $75 TO TELL ME IT WAS A MEMORY SHORT IN THE COMPUTER. THEY ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE SPARK BOOSTER CAUSED THE PROBLEM WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE IT OCCURED WHEN THE TRUCK WAS NEW TO ME AT 22 MILES. THIS MEMORY PROBLEM IF NOT CORRECTED REQUIRES EXCESSIVE THROTTLE INPUT TO START THE TRUCK IN FIRST GEAR TO AVOID STALLING WHICH IS A SAFTY HAZARD. ADDITIONALLY THE COMPUTER HAS CALIBRATION DIFFICULTIES WHICH RESULT IN SLIGHT MISSING OR ROUGHNESS WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY EVEN WITH THE SPARK BOOSTER WHICH GREATLY HELPS ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND REDUCES EMMISIONS. THE TAIL PIPE HAS NO CARBON DEPOSITS IN IT. WHEN EVER AND IF AN AFTER MARKET COMPUTER BECOMES AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE I WILL INSTALL IT. *AK
FUEL TANK OVER FLOWS WHEN FILLED, CAUSING GAS TO RUN ONTO THE GROUND. THIS. IN TURN, CREATES A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD. *AK
FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR DOES NOT ACCURATELY INDICATE LEVEL. FORD CLAIMS THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT CANNOT TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT PART AND FIX THE VEHICLE. *AK
2001 FORD RANGER WITH A RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. CUSTOMER STATES THAT HE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT. CUSTOMER SAID THE MECHANIC UNPLUGGED THE SPEED CONTROL WIRING HARNESS AND THEN SAID THEY COULD FIX IT IN DECEMBER WHEN THEY GOT THE PART. *KB UPDATED 10/03/07. *JB
2001 FORD RANGER CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT THE HARNESS WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME. THEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE THE HARNESS BY MID JANUARY. *KB VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL RECALL 07V336000. *JB
2001 FORD RANGER WITH SPEED CONTROL RECALL. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE WAS INFORMED THAT NO REPLACEMENT HARNESS WAS AVAILABLE. WHEN THE HARNESS WAS AVAILABLE AFTER THE REPAIR THE ABS AND AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES HAVE STARTED TO GRAB ON INITIAL BRAKE APPLICATION. WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JOLT TO A STOP. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE HARNESS DISCONNECTION HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATING. THE DEALER STATED THE AIR BAG PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A SEAT BELT PROBLEM. *JB
FAX ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT REGARDING THE RECALL OF HIS 2001 FORD RANGER, HE WAS NOTIFIED OF RECALL IN 2004, WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN 2007, VEHICLE STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *KB
2001 FORD RANGER WITH BROKEN SPARE TIRE CABLE. CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN HE WENT TO CHANGE THE TIRE ON HIS TRUCK THE SPARE TIRE WASN'T THERE AND THE SPARE TIRE CABLE WAS BROKE. MECHANIC STATED THAT EITHER THE CABLE WAS CUT OR HAD BEEN PULLED. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED IT LOOKED AS THOUGH THE CABLE PULLED FREE OF THE BRACKET WHICH HELD THE WHEEL AND THE WHEEL FELL TO THE GROUND AT SOME POINT. *JB
THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A SPARE TIRE THAT WAS NOT THE SAME SIZE OF THE TIRES THAT WERE ALREADY ON THE VEHICLE, ALSO THE SPARE TIRE DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY UNDER THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE BINDS UP ON BOTHS SIDES AND IS WITHIN AN INCH OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. *SLC

WHEN CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME TO FIX VEHICLE THAT DAY, CONSUMER THEN WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND AFTER WAITING FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF CONSUMER WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE VEHICLE, ON MAY 2,2001 DEALERSHIP ORDERED THE WRONG PARTS, ON MAY 3, 2001 CONSUMER PICKED UP VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED, ON MAY 7, 2001 CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT CALIPERS WERE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH CONSUMER WAS STILL EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM, ON MAY 11,2001 CONSUMER LEFT VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP FOR NINETEEN DAYS, VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP ON MAY 26,2001 AND IT WORKED FINE FOR TWO DAYS AND THE PROBLEM HAS REOCCURED. *JB

I HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN I STOP SOMETIMES THE ENGINE STALLS. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN I AM ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY WITH ENGINE RUNNING UNEVEN IT KIND OF SKIPS OR SURGES SLIGHTLY. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND FLASHES AT OR AROUND 4800 RPM. I HAVE BEEN IN FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALER SAYS FORD IS WORKING ON ALL THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING. I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE MY FORD EDGE STALL AT A BUSY ENTERSECTION OR ON THE HIGHWAY . HOPE THIS HELPS SPUR SOMEONE ON SO I CAN GET A FASTER FIX FOR MY PROBLEM. THANKS. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WAS PROVIDING 15 INCH SPARE WHEELS ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 16 INCH WHEELS, THIS MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO BE OUT OF BALANCE, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTOBY THE MANUFACTURER. *YH
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD START TO VIBRATE/ SHIMMY, HIGHER THE SPEED SHIMMYING WOULD BE WORSE, CONSUMER WOULD GRIP STEERING WHEEL, AND WOULD BE HARD TO MAINTAIN CONTROL, HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, EACH MECHANIC JUST ROTATED THE TIRES, THIS FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK GOODYEAR REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES.
