TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SUDDENLY STUCK WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS CONNECTED TO THE THROTTLE AND WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, IT WOULD DISCONNECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED, IT STUCK. FURTHERMORE, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT DEACTIVATE UNLESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BECAUSE THE ON/OFF SWITCH DID NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER (REPAIR INFORMATION WAS NOT PROVIDED). THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FRONT SUSPENSION ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS HAS BOTH COILS BROKEN. THERE IS A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000. MY VEHICLE HAS 170,000 MILES. IF THIS WAS A "SAFETY" RECALL THEN THERE WOULD BE NO LIMIT. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE COILS CAN EASILY SLIDE LOOSE CAUSING STEERING TO BE JAMMED WITH LOSS OF CONTROL AND/OR TIRE DAMAGE RESULTING IN VERY RAPID LOSE OF TIRE COMPRESSION. BOTH SITUATIONS HAVE A HIGH LIKELY HOOD OF RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS GOODYEAR ASSURANCE COMFORT P195/60/R15 TIRES. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION JUST AFTER 40,000 MILES. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE SAME TIRE FOR A 2001 FORD TAURUS AND A 2001 FORD FOCUS. BOTH THE VEHICLE DEALER AND TIRE STORE STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS TREAD SEPARATION BUT THE TIRE MANUFACTURER DISAGREED. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT 35,000 MILES AND FAILED 5,000 MILES LATER. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000. MY 2001 FORD TAURUS REAR SPRINGS BROKE, CAUSING THE STRUTS TO BREAK ALSO. THIS IS THE 3RD TAURUS I HAVE OWNED THAT DID THIS. FORD DID RECALL ON THE FRONT SPRINGS BUT NOT THE BACK SPRING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I DRIVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS. I HAVE A 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. SHE IS NOW OLD ENOUGH AND WEIGHS ENOUGH TO NO LONGER NEED THE BACK OF HER BOOSTER SEAT. THE BACK IS NOW BECOMING CONSTRICTIVE AS SHE IS GROWING. HOWEVER, IN A 2001 TAURUS, THERE ARE NO REAR HEAD RESTS. HER HEAD (AT THE AGE OF 7) IS ABOVE THE SEAT BACK. SHE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO PROTECTION FORM WHIP LASH AND AN FULL SIZED ADULT WOULD BE EVEN MORE INJURED IN THE EVEN OF A CRASH.
COIL SPRINGS ON THE FORD TAURUS ARE BREAKING. A RECALL HAS BEEN DONE ON THE FRONT, BUT NOT ON THE BACK SPRINGS. THE SPRINGS ARE MADE OF DEFECTIVE MATERIAL -- HAIRLINE CRACKS CAN BE SEEN ON THE SPRING. THE PORTION OF THE SPRING THAT SEPARATES SHOWS THAT THE CRACK IN THE SPRING HAS OXIDIZED AT POINTS BEFORE THE COMPLETE BREAK. THIS IS NOT A RUST PROBLEM!! THE METAL USED FOR THESE SPRINGS IS EXTREMELY DEFECTIVE. IN THE PORTION THAT BROKE ON MY CAR LODGED IN THE TIRE, AND I WAS ABLE TO THOROUGHLY INSPECT THE METAL AND SAW MANY HAIRLINE CRACKS. THE FRONT SPRING BROKE ON MY CAR IN FEB. 2009 AND THE REAR SPRING BROKE IN MARCH 2010. I WAS LUCKY AND WAS NOT MOVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE SPRINGS BROKE. MY FRONT TIRE WAS SLICED THROUGH AND BLEW OUT. THE FRONT SPRINGS WERE REPLACED, BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE TIRE. YESTERDAY, MY BACK RIGHT REAR SPRING BROKE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE RECALL INFORMATION THE BACK SPRINGS WERE NOT RECALLED. WHY NOT?? PLEASE HAVE THIS PROBLEM CORRECTED BEFORE THERE IS A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY BY AN UNSUSPECTING DRIVER OF A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE! AT 60 MPH, A TIRE BLOWING WOULD NOT ALLOW TIME FOR THE DRIVER TO MAKE ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION.
I HAVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS SE. ALL FOUR OF THE SUSPENSION COIL SPRINGS ARE BROKEN AND ONE OF THE BROKEN SPRINGS HAD AN END WHICH PROTRUED AND HAD RUBBED A GROOVE INTO THE TIRE (INSIDE REAR) PORTION DAMAGING THE SIDEWALL OF MY TIRE RENDERING THE TIRE USELESS.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY 2001 FORD TAURUS THAT I FEEL IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY CONCERN WITH MY VEHICLE IS THAT I DISCOVERED THAT IT HAS THREE BROKEN SPRINGS, ONE OF WHICH CAME VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY TIRE, I DISCOVERED THIS AFTER I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. UPON INVESTIGATING I DISCOVERED A BROKEN FRONT SPRING. FOLLOWING THIS I DISCOVERED BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE BROKEN AS WELL. I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY ODD TO HAVE THREE BROKEN SPRINGS ON THE SAME CAR. RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB I FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I CONTACTED A FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE FRONT SPRINGS BUT NOT THE REAR. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD REQUIRE FORD TO RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. OBSERVING HOW CLOSE THE SPRING WAS TO MAKING CONTACT WITH THE TIRE I FEEL THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERE CONSEQUENCES SHOULD THE SPRING CAUSE SUDDEN TIRE FAILURE. I BELIEVE THAT A SPRINGS SUDDEN FAILURE WOULD HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE HANDLING PROBLEMS AS WELL. AGAIN, THREE SPRING FAILURES? IT WOULD APPEAR THIS MAY BE A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM SUCH AS A DEFECTIVE HEAT TREATING PROCESS OR INFERIOR STEEL USED IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE SPRINGS. *DT
CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT STOP AFTER APPLYING BRAKES, CAR ENGINE KEPT TRYING TO GO FORWARD WHILE I WAS PRESSING HARD ON THE BRAKES AT A STOP LIGHT. CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT STOP, IT WOULD STOP GO, STOP GO, STOP GO, STOP GO WHILE I WAS PRESSING HARD ON THE CAR BRAKES HAD TO CHANGE CAR LANES TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME ALMOST ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS. THIS HAS HAPPEN BEFORE WITH THIS CAR, BUT NOT AS BAD. THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON THIS TIME (NEVER HAD A ENGINE LIGHT BEFORE). I TOOK THE CAR TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP (MEINEKE CAR CARE) AND THEY RAN THEIR ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND GOT A (ERROR CODE P0171 AND P0174) SYSTEM TOO LEAN BANK 1 AND 2. THERE WAS AIR LEAKS IN THE AIR HOSE ASSY, REPLACED AIR TUBE ASSY, PARTS (YF1Z6758A AND F6DZ6758A), AFTER THAT THE CAR RAN FINE (FOR ONE DAY). I HAD A PROBLEM ALSO WITH THE CAR ENGINE IDLE (ROUGH IDLE), CAR ENGINE WOULD STOP RUNNING AT A STOP LIGHT. (THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT WENT BACK ON AGAIN). I TOOK THE CAR TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP (PEPBOYS) AND THEY RAN CAR ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC CE SCAN AND GOT (ERROR CODE P0174 SYSTEM TOO LEAN B1 AND B2). THEY REPLACED PCV HOSE (ELBOW HOSE) THAT WAS LEAKING, (PART YF1Z6A664AB PCV HOSE, LF 0019.5800 PO 10332245.). AFTER THAT THE CAR ENGINE IS RUNNING GOOD (SO FAR). THIS MAY HELP IN LOCATING SOME OF THE PROBLEMS WITH CAR ENGINES TRYING TO GO FORWARD WHILE THE DRIVERS ARE APPLYING THE BRAKES. NEED BETTER AIR HOSES THAT WILL NOT LEAK.
AT A STOP LIGHT, NO CRASH, BUT ALMOST. I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES HARD AND THE CAR ENGINE DID NOT WANT TO STOP. THE ENGINE KEPT TRYING TO GO FORWARD, BUT MY HARD BRAKING KEPT IT FROM GOING FORWARD. I HAD TO CHANGE CAR LANES TO PREVENT A CRASH. I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PRESSING HARD. THE CAR ENGINE FINALLY STOP TRYING MOVE FORWARD.. THIS HAS HAPPEN BEFORE WITH THIS CAR SEVERAL TIMES WITH SOME CLOSE CALLS. THIS HAPPENS ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. MY BRAKES ARE IN GOOD SHARP. MAYBE A SENSOR PROBLEM ??? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING THE REAR DRUMS REPLACED, THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT STATED HE FELT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RIDING LOWER THAN USUAL BUT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V332000 (SUSPENSION: FRONT: SPRINGS: COIL SPRINGS) BUT THE REAR WERE NEVER REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN DRIVABLE CONDITION AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 98,000.
FRONT SPRINGS ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON HAVE BROKEN, WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. I THOUGHT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT COMMON, BUT WHEN I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I DISCOVERED THAT A RECALL NOTICE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN SENT OUT IN 2004. I DID NOT RECEIVE THAT RECALL, EVEN THOUGHT THE CAR WAS REGISTERED WITH FORD. NOTE - THESE WERE CLEAN BREAKS AND NOT A RESULT OF THE GRADUAL DETERIORATION OF METAL DUE TO RUST (CAUSED BY WINTER SALT). THE PROBLEM HAS NOT CAUSED A CRASH, BUT MY RESEARCH FOUND THAT IN MANY CASES THE FAULTY SPRINGS BROKE THROUGH THE SPRING SEAT AND RUPTURE THE FRONT TIRE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED AS - 2000 FORD TAURUS RECALL ID FROM NHTSA: 04V332000 AUTO RECALL DATE: 20040715. ALTHOUGH THAT DEFECT APPLIED TO A MODEL YEAR 2000 TAURUS, THE PROBLEM OCCURS IN OTHER MODEL YEARS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, PARTICULARLY IF THE SPRING RUPTURES A FRONT TIRE WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN ON A HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED ON REAR SPRINGS, WHICH HAVE ALSO PUNCTURED THE TIRES. AS SUCH IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY FOR FORD TO ISSUE A RECALL NOTICE TO ALL OWNERS OF TAURUS AUTOMOBILES. THIS HAS NOT BEEN DONE AND WILL NOT BE DONE UNLESS NHTSA DEMANDS IT. *TR

ROUTINE DRIVING IS SUBURBS - BACK COIL SPRING BROKE IN 2001 TAURUS - THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE ISSUE AND FORD IS NOT HELPING OUT. THERE IS A RECALL ON HE FRONT SPRINGS, SO THEY WERE REPLACED FOR FREE, BUT THE BACK ONES COST MY 83 YEAR OLD MOTHER $1000. PLEASE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. MY BROTHER HAD A 2003 AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. NO RECALL, SO HE HAD TO PAY ALL OF IT. I ONCE HAD A 2000 AND WHEN IT BROKE IT BLEW OUT THE TIRE AND I ALMOST KILLED ME, MY FAMILY AND ABOUT 10 OTHER PEOPLE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS AS BAD AS THE TOYOTA THING. *TR

THE CONTACTED STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN THE MECHANIC INFORMED HIM THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAD FAILED AND THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FRONT ROTORS, BRAKES, AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING REPLACED. A YEARS LATER WHEN THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALER NOTICE THE THAT BOTH STRUTS IN THE REAR WERE BROKEN. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIR BECAUSE THE CONTACT FEELS THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE UNDER A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
2001 FORD TAURUS - 74,000 MILES - BOTH REAR SPRINGS ARE BROKEN AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC SAID HE SEES A LOT OF THESE BROKEN SPRINGS IN THE TAURUS LINE. HE SAID QUITE OFTEN THEY WILL TEAR INTO THE TIRE AND CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE OR AN ACCIDENT. *TR
REAR COIL SPRINGS AND HEAD GASKET I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE THE HEAD GASKET FROM THE CHOICES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN FLUID LEAKING EXCESSIVELY FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION CASING FRACTURED, CAUSING THE SPILLAGE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FAILURE CAUSED ALL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO LEAK AND BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2001 FORD TAURUS. I FOUND A LARGE PIECE OF METAL LYING ON MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD REAR COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS AS WELL AS STRUTS. TOTAL BILL WAS 970.00 WE WERE VERY LUCKY WE NOTICED THE PIECE OF METAL ON DRIVEWAY. I UNDERSTAND THESE BROKEN COIL SPRINGS ARE CAUSING REAR TIRE BLOW-OUTS! I NOTIFIED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY DO NOT INTEND TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
2001 FORD TAURUS MODEL SEL . REAR COIL SPRINGS. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2004 WITH 35,000 MILES AND NOW HAS 71,000 MILES. GARAGE KEPT, WIFE DRIVES. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT CAUSING ME TO HAVE PROTECTIVE SHIELDS PLACED AROUND FRONT COILS DUE TO POSSIBLE BLOWOUT IF COIL BROKE, OBVIOUSLY SOME HAD BROKE. I HAD TO HAVE BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS REPLACED ON 2/2/10 AT A COST OF $390 PARTS ONLY. I'M 65 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WITH TWO BROKEN SPRINGS ON THE REAR. I SUBMIT THAT ONE OF THE COILS HAD SHIFTED AND COULD HAVE BLOWN OUT REAR TIRE. I DON'T THINK DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT SEEING THESE REPAIRS DUE TO AGE AND LABOR PER HOUR AT A DEALERSHIP. A PRIVATE MECHANIC REPAIRED MINE AND REPORTS HAVING REPAIRED OTHERS. I BELIEVE THESE COILS ON THIS MODEL ARE DEFECTIVE , FRONT AND REAR. NOTHING HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT THE REAR COILS OR ANY PROTECTIVE DEVICE TO PREVENT A BLOWOUT. *TR
FRONT SPRINGS BREAK AND CUT THE TIRE CAUSING ACCIDENTS. *TR
2001 FORD TAURUS REAR SPRING FAILURE . THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SPRING BROKE AND RUINED THE TIRE . IT ALMOST WORE THROUGH THE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE . I THINK THIS IS A REAL SAFETY PROBLEM . I CALLED FORD AND TO REPORT THE PROBLEM . AT THIS TIME THEIR ARE NO RECALLS FOR REAR SPRINGS . *CN
FRONT AND REAR SPRING COILS ARE DAMAGED. MY HUSBAND WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AN AS HE DID, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE SPRING COIL PUNCTURED THE TIRE. WE WERE THEN INFORMED THAT ALL OF THE COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED NOT JUST THE FRONT COILS. AFTER WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FRONT COILS, WE CONTACTED FORD AND WE WERE TOLD TO BRING IT TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE FRONT COILS WERE COVERED BECAUSE OF A RECALL. ONCE WE GOT THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP, THEY THEN TOLD US THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE REAR COILS AND THAT THE REAR COILS WERE THAT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH AND I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT ALL OF THE COILS NEED TO BE REPLACED. FYI: WE HAVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS WITH 28,000 MILES (YES, THAT IS 28,000 MILES). I WOULD LIKE A REASON WHY ALL THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON ALL OF THE COILS, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS? ALSO, THE BOTH FRONT TIRES ARE LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY BEFORE THERE ARE MORE ACCIDENTS AND MAYBE EVEN DEATHS! *TR
ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS MY CAR WOULD TRY TO LUNGE FORWARD WHEN I SLAM ON THE BRAKES. I HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS IN HITTING SOMEONE OR A CAR. LUCKY I HAD MY FOOT ALREADY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WOULD BRAKE HARD AGAIN, THEN AGAIN SOMETIMES. I STARTED CHECKING UNDER THE HOOD AND I FOUND THAT MY BRAKE FLUID CONTAINER LID WAS NOT ON TIGHT. AFTER PLACING THE LID ON TIGHT I HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING OR THE CAR WOULD TRY TO GO FORWARD WHEN I SLAM ON THE BRAKES. *TR
FRONT SUSPENSION COIL BROKE AND PUNCTURED SIDE OF TIRE. HAD THIS HAPPEN TO BACK WHEEL AT CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. LUCKILY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TO SCHOOL OR SHE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A CRITICAL ACCIDENT! *TR

WE OWN A 2001 FORD TAURUS WITH ABOUT 28,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I AM HANDICAP AND THIS IS THE VEHICLE THAT WE USE TO GET ME TO APPOINTMENTS, ETC. WE ARE VERY LUCKY THAT THE FRONT TIRE EXPLODED WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND NOT WHILE WE WERE ALREADY DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR WHERE EVER! WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE TOLD US THAT THE TIRE EXPLODED BECAUSE OF THE FRONT SPRING COIL. ONCE WE FOUND OUT THE CAUSE, I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET FOR ANY ISSUES OR RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND LOW AND BEHOLD THERE IS A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE FRONT SPRING COILS. WE THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT WE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM. THEY ARE FIXING THE CAR NOW. YESTERDAY WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SPRING COILS AND THAT THEY ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE REAR SPRING COILS, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS AND IT APPEARS THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE REAR SPRING COILS. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE REAR SPRING COILS. 2001 FORD TAURUS WITH 52,000 MILES. REAR COIL SPRING HAS SNAPPED. JUST NOTICED ON THE ANNUAL STATE INSPECTION. MECHANIC SAID I WAS LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T PUNCTURE THE TIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ARE COVERED BY A RECALL. THE REAR COIL SPRINGS SHOULD ALSO BE COVERED BY A RECALL. THE MECHANIC SAID THE TOTAL COST WILL BE ABOUT $900. LAST NOVEMBER, THE BRAKES ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS SES UNEXPECTEDLY QUIT WORKING. THE PEDAL WOULD PUSH DOWN NORMALLY, BUT IT WAS NOT DOING ANYTHING. IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN AFTER A FEW SECONDS, AND I WAS ALMOST HOME SO I DECIDED TO TRY TO DRIVE IT HOME. ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER, THEY QUIT AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME THEY DID NOT COME RIGHT BACK. EXPERIENCED DRIVER USED AGGRESSIVE BRAKING TO CONTROL AND STOP VEHICLE WITHOUT CRASHING AND THEN TURNED IGNITION OFF TO CONTROL ENGINE. THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM WAS NOT IN USE. FOUND PLASTIC 'TAB' HOLDING SPEED CONTROL CABLE TO THE ACCELERATOR CABLE BRACKET ON THROTTLE BODY DAMAGED. I HAVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS SEDAN. I REPLACED THE FRONT STRUTS AS PART OF A RECALL EARLIER THIS YEAR. THE SPRING ON THE FRONT STRUT BROKE. A FEW MONTHS AFTER I REPLACED THE FRONT STRUTS, I NOTICED A NOISE EMANATING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER TAURUS OWNERS WERE HAVING THIS SAME DIFFICULTY AND FOUND MANY POSTS ON MESSAGE BOARDS OUTLINING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NOW REPLACED THE REAR STRUTS.
