While on a road trip with my 6 kids, I had a brake issue with my 2016 Ford Transit. The first time it happened, I was driving about 55 mph, hit the brakes and the engine revved & accelerated. I pumped the brakes, engine stopped revving. Honestly thought I did something wrong. Same thing happened again two days later. I stopped and cleaned the sensors hoping that would resolve the issue. The next day the same thing happened making it hard to stop. I went straight to Ford and had two Ford dealerships tell me the vehicle was fine. Brakes were checked and was told no problems. I asked if it could be a leak in brake booster and was told no. No lights were coming on. I took the van to Les Schwab and was told the same thing. Unsure what to do, my brother came to the rescue and took the van. He started driving it home to California from Colorado. I rented an RV and continued our road trip. 80 miles later, the engine on the van made a loud bang and ceased. No engine lights. My brother said the engine started having acceleration problems so he stopped and checked all of the fluids. Everything was fine and engine was not overheated. But, complete engine failure at 79,000 miles. This was July. Since then, we paid to have a new engine installed. My husband flew out to pick up the van and new engine started having problems. He had to fly back home. Ford has said that the new engine is bad so they are paying for rental car and getting another new engine installed. Still do not have van. It's been three months. My concern is something else is going on...just seems extremely strange. I am still worried about the braking and revving bit and wonder if anyone else has had a similar issue.
I received a safety recall via mail for a driveshaft coupling malfunction. I had no noticeable problem with my vehicle safety nor did I have a warning light or message on the instrument panel. I turned in the vehicle to the local "Gosch" Ford dealership to perform the inspection. My vehicle was turned in on 07/21/2021 and the dealership has yet to receive the part. However, it has not been returned to me with the dealer citing the fact that it is unsafe to drive without the repair. I continue to receive the same statement that I need to wait and check back each week.

Sliding door jumps track, opening and or closing. Have driven home with door open because it wouldn't shut.
Engine dies without warning. Stalled in the middle of traffic, luckily this did not result in an accident. This has happened twice in the span of one month. April 25th 2021 and May 14th 2021. Ford dealer (Ford of Montebello) could not figure out why it does this (it has been doing this intermittently since the vehicle was purchased new in 2016. It has done this in the past. I am taking the vehicle back to dealer (again) to see if they can figure it out this time around. Scan tool produces no engine fault codes. Vehicle drives perfectly fine after each incident.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V631000 (Parking Brake) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall and the dealer informed the contact that upon inspection, the driveshaft was cracked however, the part for the recall repair was not available. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that they did not know when parts for the recall repair would be available. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000. The VIN was not available.
I was notified for a **recall** on the DRIVE SHAFT sometime early this year ( Feb / March 2021)... I have about 24,000 miles on the van. I also reported humming noise after reaching 35 to 40 mph... and then more noise ( humming noise ) after reaching 65 mph on the expressway. I took my van to Northgate Ford, where I purchased new. They said they had the parts ordered etc. I left the van there for several days...Then I was notified that they put on the new replacement driveshaft,,,, assuming it was correct and BALANCED.... the service manager notified me that the replacement driveshaft installed was NOT BALANCED and was causing all kinds of vibration problems / issues... steering wheel, driving, etc.... upon taking the van back several times.... and getting a new corrected balance driveshaft, installed that. However,,, still more problems,,, humming and vibrations, etc. they looked at the DIFFERRENCIAL ,,,, and found that all the bearings were bad,,, had to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get replacements......I told them that anything that SPINS... and not balanced is causing more vibration problems through out the van,,, engine, transmission, exhaust system, brakes, name it,,, etc. I picked up the van on June 28, 2021.. note... they gave me an extended warranty until 2024 ( 3 years ) and milage of 75,000 miles... Looks like expecting more major problems, etc..... I still have the **humming noise over 35 mph... and getting louder... I have seen articles about possible exhaust / muffler baffles going bad, etc... now that they did the recall, etc.. my van is an accident waiting to happen... and with the humming noise... Now all I need to do is lose my hearing... bull ssssss... thanks
3/11/2021, TOOK TRANSIT TO DEALER ON MARCH 9, 2021,,, FOR HUMMING COMING FROM RADIO WHEN TURNED ON, FOR RECALL ON DRIVE SHAFT COUPLING. AND ADDITIONAL NOISE WHEN DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY OVER 60 MPH PLUS... GOES AWAY WHEN LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND EXITING EXPRESSWAY. DEALER HAD VEHICLE SINCE 3/9/2021. TOLD ME TODAY THEY FIXED THE DRIVE SHAFT COUPLING, THEN THEY CAME UP WITH ISSUE ON FRONT TIRES AND HAD TO ROTATE THEM.. ONLY 24K ON VEHICLE SINCE NEW... NOW NEW ISSUE ABOUT SOME SORT OF RATTLE WITH THE FRONT END... ETC..AND THAT CAR PULLS TO RIGHT? AND THAT THEY CANNOT FIX PROBLEM AS OF TODAY,,, WORKING WITH FORD,, LOOKS LIIKE THEY WANT TO KEEP VEHICLE....UNTIL ?? FIXED??? ACCORDING TO GOOGLE,,, LOOKING UP FRONT END PROBLEMS WITH 2016 / 250 FORD TRANSIT CARGO VAN... LOTS OF ISSUES THERE FROM OTHER TRANSIT OWNERS. SAME ISSUE.. POSSIBLE ISSUE RELATED TO SAME FRONT END PROBLEMS... WHEN FORD SHIPS THE TRANSIT TO DEALERS,,,ASSUME THAT VEHICLE IS BEING TIED DOWM TO DELIVERY CARRIER FLAT BED AUTO CARRIER,,, IN NOSE DOWN POSITION AND WITH EXTREAM TIE DOWNS... THAT WHEN THE CARRIER HIS THE HIGHWAY, AND THE VEHICLES START BOUNCING, AND ALL THE WEIGHT IS ON THE FRONT END... CAUSING ALL THIS DAMAGE... FRONT END ALIGNMENT CANNOT FIX IT... SOME ARE SAYING THAT THE ** SUBFRAME** IS BENT OUT OF ALIGNMENT.... LOOKS LIKE POSSIBLE LIMINE TIME??? TIME TO RECALL ALL TRANSIT'S AGAIN FOR THIS ISSUE. ALSO LIKE TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION ABOUT THE EXHAUST TAIL PIPE COMES OUT SHORT FROM THE END OF THE BUMPER ( SEVERAL FEET,,,) AND SHOULD COME ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE VEHICLE AND OR TO AREA BEHIND THE REAR WHEEL AND EVEN WITH THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO KEEP EXHAUST FUMES AWAY FROM GETTING INSIDE THE VEHICLE....
Vehicle goes into "limp" mode while on highway losing the ability to control the acceleration. The van has to coast to a stop, turn off the engine, then restart. The throttle body was replaced twice (3/2/21 and 11/21/22). This causes a major safety risk for the driver, passenger and all other drivers on the road. Losing control of the vehicle mechanically without warning and in such a sporadic fashion is unacceptable at this age and mileage. 170,245 miles & 219,118 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the brake line fractured, and there was a humming noise, and the driveshaft disintegrated from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence; however, a month later, the vehicle was towed to the dealer for a scheduled appointment. The vehicle was diagnosed as having a disassembled accelerator assembly. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V408000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
SIDE SLIDING DOOR HINGES HAVE BROKEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING AND UNRESOLVED ISSUE WITH THE SIDE DOOR. THE SIDE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY AND CURRENTLY WILL NOT CLOSE OR LATCH MAKING IT UNDRIVEABLE AS IT WILL SLIDE OPEN IF ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE. CAR WAS PARKED ON FLAT SURFACE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE DOOR THAT WOULD NOT LATCH.
ONE OF THE REAR SEATBELTS WILL NOT LATCH, RENDERING THAT SEAT UNUSABLE. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE MADE AT THE SAME ASSEMBLY PLANT, ASSEMBLED DURING THE LISTED TIME PERIOD, YET MY VEHICLE DOES NOT SHOW THAT IT IS COVERED BY THIS RECALL. THE DESCRIPTION IN THAT RECALL MATCHES EXACTLY THE PROBLEM THAT I AM EXPERIENCING. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CALL FORD MOTOR COMPANY, MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS RESULTED IN BEING HUNG UP ON DESPITE THIS OCURRING DURING THEIR LISTED BUSINESS HOURS.
Exhaust manifold leaking. According to the Ford dealership at Encinitas California (see attached report by the service dept) my ford transit has a leaking exhaust manifold. Apparently, this is not an uncommon failure with these 3.5 eco-boost engines. It appears to be a design flaw in the bolt pattern which allows the manifold to warp. I noticed this problem with approximately 75,000 miles. The vehicle developed a loud chirping or ringing sound but no warning lights. This leaking and failed exhaust system is allowing noxious gas to build up in the engine compartment and possibly leaking into the passenger compartment.
FUEL DOOR BROKEN AT UPPER HINGE. COMMON PART FAILURE FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE.

THE DRIVELINE BROKER FROM IT'S HOLDING MOUNT WHILE DRIVING AND TANGLED UP THE FUEL LINE AND BRAKE LINES GOING TO THE REAR OF THE VAN. MAKING THE VAN LOSE POWER AND NOT BE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN ANYMORE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. ALSO THEY HAVE A RECALL ON THE REAR FLEX JOINT WHICH THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS RECOGNIZED BUT ARE REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE TOTAL REPAIR. HOW IS THAT FAIR? IT IS FORD'S DESIGN FLAW THAT MADE THIS HAPPEN.
DEALERSHIP (WICKSTROM FORD LINCOLN) IN BARRINGTON IL REFUSES TO REPAID MY VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL (CODE: GEUXOIM). I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT ON 9/22/2020 AND THE DEALERSHIP SENT ME HOME BECAUSE THE PART NEEDS TO BE ORDERED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD CALL WHEN PARTS ARRIVE. DEALERSHIP NEVER CALLED, I CALLED TWICE ON 11/25/2020 AND LEFT A MESSAGE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT CALLED.
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED, IN TRAFFIC ON I95 IN FLORIDA THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. IT DID START AGAIN.NO DASH LIGHTS NO WARNING JUST TURNED OFF.
FLEXIBLE COUPLING CONNECTING TO DRIVESHAFT DAMAGED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED OF 70 MPH. LOUD BOOM UNDERNEATH OF DRIVER SEAT. VEHICLE STARTS TO MAKE NOISE LIKE YOUR EXHAUST SYSTEM FAILED. IT ALSO SHAKES WHEN GOING FROM 0 TO 40 MPH THEN IT GOES AWAY. LUCKY IT DID NOT FALL APART. THIS RECALL MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY FORD AND ENFORCE IT TO BE FIXED ASAP TO ALL VEHICLE WITH SUCH ISSUE.

THE OVERALL NOISE LEVEL WHILE DRIVING IS WAY ABOVE NORMAL. HUMMING SOUND WHILE DRIVING AT 40 TO 50 MPH PLUS. THE **DECIBEL** LEVEL IS HIGH. NOISE COMING THROUGH ALL THE DOORS AND DOOR SEALS, THE FLOOR, ETC., NOISE FROM THE TIRES. I MEASURED THE DECIBEL LEVELS ON THE LOCAL EXPRESSWAY DOING 65 TO 70 MPH. THE DECIBEL LEVEL AT THE *DOG HOUSE* WAS RUNNING BETWEEN 75 AND 80 DECIBELS. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PUT ADDITIONAL SELF STICKING DOOR SEALS ON ALL DOORS, 100% AROUND, COMPLETE, ETC. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.

THEY ALSO REPLACED THE AIR FILTER AND THE AIR FILTER BOX COVER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD THE FORD'S FINAL FIX FOR 17V408000. I PERIODICALLY INSPECT THE FLEXIBLE COUPLING AND DURING THE INSPECTION TODAY I OBSERVED A CRACK IN THE FLEXIBLE COUPLING. CRACKED FLEXIBLE COUPLINGS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE, AS EVIDENCED BY 17V408000. IT IS DISAPPOINTING THAT FORD IS UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD TRANSIT. I WAS AWARE OF THE RECALL 17S15 IN REFERENCE TO THE DRIVING SHAFT COUPLING, EVERY 30,000 MILES I CHECK THIS COUPLING AND EACH TIME THEY WOULD TELL ME THAT IT WAS CRACKED AND NEEDS TO BE CHANGE.
