DURING FAMILY TRIP TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE PARKED AT GAS STATION. HAD TOWED TO INDEPENDENT DEALER TO REPAIR BECAUSE FORD DEALER WAS TOO BUSY AND WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. CALLED FORD, THEY WERE NO HELP AT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND TWO DEALERSHIPS. WOULD LIKE FORD TO REIMBURSE ME $2237 FOR TRANSMISSION REBUILD AND REPLACE. NOT ASKING FOR DAMAGES OR A REFUND, JUST THE COST OF TRANSMISSION.*AK
SLIDING DOORS OPEN FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING. CURRENTLY IT IS THE LEFT DOOR, HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH BOTH DOORS. TS. *AK
AFTER HITTING BRAKES VEHICLE APPEARS TO LOSE POWER, AND FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO LURCH FORWARD. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE IS USING 1 QUART OF OIL IN 1000 MILES. VEHICLE INSPECTED BY FORD TECH ENGINEER. FOUND NO EXTERIOR OIL LEAKAGE AND STATES VEHICLE OPERATING AS DESIGNED AT THIS TIME. *TT TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE PAN GASKET. THE SERVO COVER WAS RESEALED. UPDATED *JB
THE CAR WAS DRIVEN TWO MILES THEN PARKED AND TURNED OFF. ABOUT TEN MINUTES AFTER PARKING THE CAR, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS FILLING WITH SMOKE & LEAKING OUT OF THE DOOR CRACKS. THE FIRE COMPANY RESPONDED AND EXSTINQUISHED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE APPARENTLY ORIGINATING WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE(SMELL) OF FIRE WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVEN.*AK
RIGHT SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR OPENED (UNCOMMANDED) WHEN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS MOVD FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND VEHICLE SPEED REACH APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH.
WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR. AUTOMATICALLY BECOMES AJAR. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE CAN BE PARKED, AND THE DOOR BECOMES AJAR. CONSUMER STATES HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN ABOUT 8 TO 12 TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF 4 YEARS.*AK THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO BE FIXED BUT AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS THE PROBLEM COMES BACK. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAS TO CLOSE THE DOOR A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE IT LATCHES SECURELY. THE DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. *TC

DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS ILLUMINATING FOR SIDE SLIDING DOOR. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY STATED THAT SOME SCREWS WERE LOOSE, AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. DRIVERS INSISTS THAT PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CONSUMER WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT 38,483 MILES, DEALERSHIP REPLACED TRANSMISSION AND PAID 60% OF COST FOR TRANSMISSION. *AK *TT
AT THIS TIME WE ARE LEASING A 2000 WINDSTAR LX AND WE CAN'T WAIT TO TURN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP - AND WE PLAN TO NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT AGAIN. WE HAVE PURCHASED A USED HONDA ACCORD AND EXPECT THAT WE WILL BE QUITE HAPPY WITH IT... THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE EXHAUST/EMISSIONS WAS FIXED AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND WILL NOT GO OUT - EASTGATE FORD, DAYTON, OH DOES NOT KNOW WHY THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. THE PAINT ON THE LUGGAGE RACK IS PEELING OFF. THE DOOR ACTUATOR ON THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR - DOES NOT WORK - IT TAKES 2 PEOPLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, ONE INSIDE AND ONE OUTSIDE. THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS FAULTY. FORD HAS A SERVICE BULLENTIN OUT - BUT THERE IS NO RECALL BECAUSE FORD DOES NOT BELIEVE THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE HERE - I DO NOT AGREE. PROPER STEERING IS PRETTY IMPORTANT AND IF A SMALLER SIZE FEMALE OR MALE WAS TURNING LEFT AND THE PUMP FAILED, IT COULD BE QUITE HAZZARDOUS. OUR BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE WAY FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND EASTGATE FORD HAVE TREATED US. THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY ON EITHER PART. FORD OR EASTGATE WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.

AIRBAG LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON FOR 2 MONTHS VAN TAKEN TO ARMSTRONG FORD ON 3 OCCASIONS TO BE FIXED THEY STATED AIRBAGS WERE OKAY THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT REPLACED A SPRING IN THE LIGHT AIRBAG DEPLOYED 2 DAYS AFER PICKING UP THE VAN FROM REPAIRS THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THE VAN IT DEPLOYED ON IT'S OWN. *AK

MY CONCERN IS THAT THE SEAT BELT WEBBING FREQUENTLY IS TRAPPED IN THE DOOR JAB UPON THE DRIVERS EXIT. I BELIEVE THIS REPEATED ACTION COULD LOWER THE TENSILE STRENGTH OF THE SEAT BELT WEBBING. FORD RECENTLY REPLACED THE ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE WEBBING, BUT THIS REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY CONTINUES TO FREQUENTLY NOT FULLY RETRACT THE WEBBING RESULTING IN THE SAME TRAPPMENT. I CONTACTED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAFETY OFFICE SEVERAL TIMES, THEIR ADVICE WAS TO SEEK WARRANTY REPLACEMENT. THIS DOES NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE WEBBING. THE WARRANTY NARRATIVE READS, "S25/DIRVER SEAT BELT IS SLOW TO RETRACT". *AK

CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 70MPH ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A NOISE. LEFT FRONT TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. HE INSPECTED OTHER TIRES AND NOITICED STRESS MARKS. GENERAL, TIRE AMERI GS 60, P21570R/15#E4,02906. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, AND NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK TIRE WAS UNDER PROPER INFLATION AT TIME OF FAILURE, THE RIM WAS DAMAGED AND REPLACED DUE TO THE TREAD SEPARATION. *SLC

THE DEALER, LANHAM FORD MOTOR COMPANY LANHAM, MD DENIED DOING NHTSA RECALL 01V262000/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 01S26 REPAIRS ON VEHICLE. DEALER BASICALLY STATED THAT VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE EXPERINCING PROBLEMS BEFORE IT COULD BE SERVICED.*AK

RIGHT REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR AUTOMATICALLY RE-OPENS AFTER BEING CLOSED. CONTACTS ON DOOR CLOSURE HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND RE-CHECKED, YET POWER SLIDING DOOR STILL CONTINUES TO RE-OPEN AFTER BEING CLOSED. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD CHILD AND I DON'T WANT HER ACCIDENTALLY GETTING CAUGHT IN THE DOOR OR BEING DISTRACTED BY IT RE-OPENING. ALSO, SOMETIMES I THINK I HAVE LOCKED THE VEHICLE ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS RE-OPENED. MANUFACTURER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM AND THAT "THERE IS NO ERROR CODE ON THE COMPUTER, SO THEY CAN'T VERIFY PROBLEM EXISTS." .*AK
ABS LIGHT CAME ON WENT TO MECHANIC WHO REPLACED A SENSOR DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM, THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON EVER SINCE. *TR
CONSUMER RECEIVED SAFETY ISSUE NOTICE, RECALL#01V261000, ABOUT WIPER MOTOR COVER FROM FORD AND OBTAINED THE NEW WIPER MOTOR COVER FROM THE DEALER. THE WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN FIRST GETTING INTO COLD CAR. AFTER CAR WAS WARMED UP AND RUN FOR A TIME, WIPERS WOULD BEGIN TO OPERATE, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND FIRST THEY REPLACED THE SWITCH AND THEN REPLACED WIPER MOTOR AGAIN. CONSUMER IS STATING THAT THE WIPER MOTOR FUNCTION OPERATION WAS THE RESULT OF FAULTY ENGINEERING BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. CLEARLY, WATER ENTERED THE WIPER MOTOR COVER BEFORE CORRECTIVE REPAIR WAS INITIATED AND POSSIBLY NOT REMOVED BY THE DEALER. CONSUMER IS EXPECTING A REFUND FROM MANUFACTURER.*YD
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ENTER OR EXIT HER VEHICLE, THE DOOR HANDLE WOULD SHOCK HER. THE FAILURE BEGAN NINE YEARS AGO. THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED DUE TO COST. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE THREADED SCREWS THAT THE LUGNUTS SCREW ONTO SNAPPED IN HALF AND CAR WAS INSPECTED BY FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANIC AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM BEING A DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP. ALSO, THEY WON'T HONOR A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER EXPERT MECHANIC. IN ADDITION, I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT FOR $1400 WHICH IS EFFECT UNTIL 100,000 MILES. I NEED SOMEONES HELP WITH THIS MATTER. *AK
ALL FOUR OF THESE GENERAL AMERI GS60 GENSEAL TIRES WERE IN DANGEROUS CONDITION, AS CERTIFIED BY TWO TIRE DEALERS, AFTER LESS THAN 16,000 MILES. THE TIRES HAD BEEN MAINTAINED WITH PROPER INFLATION AND ROTATION THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFE BUT BOTH DEALERS SAID ALL FOUR SHOWED DANGEROUS ROT ON SIDEWALLS AND SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATION. GENERAL OFFERED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR AT NO COST BUT WOULD OFFER ONLY THE SAME TIRES AS REPLACEMENT WHICH I DECLINED. I HAD BROUGHT THE TIRES TO DEALERS TO HAVE THEM REBALANCED AFTER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 75 MPH. I DECLINED GENERAL'S OFFER BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT THE SAME TIRES BACK ON THE VEHICLE AFTER ALL FOUR HAD FAILED. I BELIEVE FORD WAS NEGLIGENT IN FAILING TO RECORD KEY FACTS ABOUT THE FAILURE OF THESE TIRES DESPITE MY ATTEMPTS TO OFFER THE INFORMATION ON THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE. FORD NEVER ASKED FOR OR ACCEPTED INFORMATION ABOUT THE TIRE MODELS THAT HAD FAILED OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION. THEY SIMPLY REFERRED ME TO GENERAL. I EXPERIENCED MANY FLATS WITH THESE FORD FACTORY GOODYEAR TIRES. FINALLY I HAD A DANGEROUS BLOWOUT IN THE CARPOOL LANE ON A FREEWAY IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. I IMMEDIATELY REPLACED THE TIRES WITH BIG O TOUR PLUS TIRES. I HAVEN'T HAD ANOTHER FLAT SINCE. I HAD CALLED FORD AND GOODYEAR BEFORE THE BLOWOUT, COMPLAINING ABOUT MANY FLAT TIRES. THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I DISAGREE. I HAVE THE FOUR TIRES AND RECEIPTS FOR PROOF. I BELIEVE THE FACTORY GOODYEAR TIRES ARE DANGEROUSLY SOFT. I AM FORTUNATE MY WIFE AND I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE GOODYEAR TIRE BLEW. CAN YOU HELP US GET SOME RESPONSE FROM GOODYEAR & FORD?*AK

WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN A 2000, FORD, WINDSTAR RIGHT/REAR CONTINENTAL TIRE, SIZE: P215/70R15, DOT: A3M344C249 EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. UPON REPLACEMENT OF TIRE, A TIRE SHOP FOUND A BUBBLE FORMING IN TREAD OF LEFT/REAR CONTINENTAL TIRE, THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 12200 MILES ON TIRES, AND THEY WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. *AK *YD
OUR 2000 FORD WINDSTAR WAS REAR-ENDED ON I40 08/10/2000. TRAFFIC SLOWED SUDDENLY, CARS WERE FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY, STRUCK THE LEFT SIDE OF THE REAR OF OUR VAN AT SPEED. THE FORCE OF THE COLLISION CAUSED THE SEAT BACK TO GIVE WAY, PINNING THE LEGS OF MY 4 YEAR OLD SON BETWEEN THE SEAT AND HIS CAR SEAT. HE WAS UNINJURED, HOWEVER, I SUFFERED SEVERE SOFT TISSUE INJURIES WHEN THE SEAT BACK COLLAPSED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION HAD MY HEAD STRUCK MY SON.*AK

WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR FORD RECALL THE SERVICE PERSON POINTED OUT AN 8-9 INCHES SPLIT IN THE OUTSIDE TREAD AREA OF THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE TIRE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND DEFECTIVE, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSMENT. THIS WAS ABOUT 2 HOURS AFTER I HAD PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I PICKED IT UP THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THERE MUST NOT BE ANYTHING WRONG. *AK
VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. DASHBOARD PANEL WILL FLASH ON AND OFF, AND VEHICLE WILL BEEP. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
