2000 GMC SIERRA, 3/4 TON, PICKUP, SEAT BELT DOES NOT WORK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC K1500. THE CONTACT WAS PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOUNTED ON THE LIFT. SUDDENLY, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE PLUNGED TO THE GROUND WITH THE REMAINDER OF THE CAB STILL MOUNTED ON THE LIFT. THE VEHICLE'S FRAME FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS CURRENTLY INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 135,556. UPDATED 03-27-09 *BF UPDATED 03/31/09. *JB
BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES. *TR
RUST- HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES,ROCKER PANELS AND CAB CORNERS,GAS TANK STRAPS RUSTED OUT AND BROKE OFF .BOTH SPRING SHACKLES BROKE FROM RUST AND HAD TO BE REPLACED,THE FRAME HAD TO BE FIXED(CRACKED) AND NOW THE SHOCK MOUNTS HAVE RUSTED OFF AND HAVE TO BE FIXED AND ITS ONLY GOT 115,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 55 MPH, THE CONTACT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE PRECEDING VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER AND IS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 102,400. UPDATED 1/8/09 *CN UPDATED 01/14/09.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC 3500. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND THE BRAKING AND STEERING FUNCTIONS BECAME INOPERABLE. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS, THE CONTACT MUST JUMPSTART THE VEHICLE OR WAIT UNTIL THE VEHICLE COOLS DOWN IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE RESTARTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE BECAUSE IT COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE FUEL GAUGE IS BOUNCING ERRATICALLY EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL BUT IN NO OTHER GEAR. IT HAS BEEN FINE FOR YEARS BUT SUDDENLY STARTED ACTING UP. THE TRUCK RECEIVES REGULAR MAINTENANCE, BUT THE START OF THE PROBLEM DID NOT COINCIDE WITH ANY MAINTENANCE OR ANY EVENT. IT JUST STARTED HAPPENING. *TR
BRAKES FAIL TO ENGAGE WHEN BRAKING. THANK GOD I DO NOT FOLLOW CLOSELY TO VEHICLES AHEAD OF ME. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I WILL REPORT THE LAST DATE THIS HAPPENED. *TR
FUEL GAUGE ACTING VERY ERRATIC AND VEHICLE WILL NOT START HAVE NOTICED ONLINE THAT MANY GMC SIERRA OWNERS OF SIMILAR YEARS HAVE EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEMS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. *TR
PARKING BRAKE WORE OUT BY ITSELF AND FAILED TO WORK. WILL NOT FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. HAD $400 REPAIRS MADE TO BRAKE. *TR
EVERY SO OFTEN THE FOR ABOUT A MONTH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WOULD KICK BACK SLIGHTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP. ONE SUNDAY MORNING WHILE COMING TO STOP THE ANTI- LOCK SYSTEM KICKED BACK VERY HARD AND I RAN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. NOW THE SYSTEM IS KICKING BACK AT ALMOST EVERY STOP! *TR
AT LOW STOPPING SPEEDS ABS BRAKES KICK IN AND CANNOT STOP. *TR
ABS BRAKES ACTIVATE INAPPROPRIATELY AT LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 10 MPH) ON SMOOTH DRY SURFACES. THIS LENGTHENS THE STOPPING DISTANCE AND CREATES THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH WHEN AVAILABLE STOPPING DISTANCE IS LIMITED. THE DESIGN IS FLAWED IN THAT 1) NORMAL CORROSION, EXPECTED DURING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, FREQUENTLY LEADS TO THIS FAILURE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM, AND 2) WHEN THIS NORMAL, EXPECTED CORROSION OCCURS, THE ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT 'FAIL TO SAFE', BUT INSTEAD FAILS IN A MANNER THAT REDUCES BRAKE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE AND INCREASES STOPPING DISTANCE ONCE PROBLEM BEGAN, IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. DEALER REMOVED THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS FROM THE WHEEL BEARINGS, CLEANED CORROSION OFF THE MOUNTING SURFACE, AND REINSTALLED THE SENSORS. THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME FAILURE MODE, SAME ROOT CAUSE, SAME CORRECTIVE ACTION AS DESCRIBED IN GM'S EXISTING PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL #05068C, HOWEVER GM REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER THE TERMS OF THE RECALL BECAUSE, AS IT IS CURRENTLY WRITTEN, THE RECALL DOES NOT COVER THE SMALL NUMBER OF TRUCKS BUILT AT THE FLINT PLANT. MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN THE AFFECTED TIME FRAME, WITH THE SUSPECT COMPONENTS, AND EXHIBITS EXACTLY THE SAME SAFETY DEFECT AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, BUT GM HAS THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND WITH REGARD TO THE FACT THAT THERE WERE A BATCH OF AFFECTED VEHICLES BUILT AT FLINT. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED AND GM SHOULD BE ASSESSED PUNITIVE DAMAGES FOR THE SHAMEFUL WAY THEY ARE TREATING CUSTOMERS WHO REQUEST ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THEIR VEHICLE FIXED. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND GM HAS REFUSED TO ASSIST WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR. GM REP ACTUALLY SUGGESTED THAT I FILE THIS COMPLAINT, AS HE CLAIMED THAT HE WAS NOT EMPOWERED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT A NHTSA COMPLAINT HISTORY TO JUSTIFY ACTION. *TR
MULTIPLE BRAKE LINE FAILURE, AND FUEL LINE FAILURE DUE TO TO ROTTED LINES ALONG DRIVERS SIDE FRAME RAIL. DUE TO POOR QUALITY FACTORY INSTALLED COMPONENTS. THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS, 2 WITH BRAKE LINES , 1 WITH FUEL LINES. APPROX. OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE SO FAR , (AND NOT COMPLETED YET), IS OVER $1,500.00 FOR PURCHASED AND INSTALLED REPLACEMENT PARTS. *TR
WHILE REPLACING THE FUEL FILTER ON THE VEHICLE THE MECHANIC STATED THE FUEL LINES WERE BADLY RUSTED AND STARTED LEAKING. THE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE LINES WERE ALSO FOUND IN THE SAME CONDITION. I WAS ADVISED THAT ALL THE LINES SHOULD BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY DUE TO THEIR DETERIORATED CONDITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION. WENT TO DEALER TO ORDER PARTS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND FUEL LINES COULD BE ORDERED (APPROX. $500.00) BUT THE BRAKE LINES ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. ALSO THE REAR BRAKE BACKING PLATES HAVE RUSTED OFF THE VEHICLE. ALL 4 ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES ALONG WITH BRAKE PADS. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 70,000 MILES. I HAD A FEW NEAR MISSES WHEN TRYING TO STOP QUICKLY - ABS PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500 NEW. HAVE DURING TIME OF OWNERSHIP HAD BOTH FRONT AND REAR DISC BRAKES/ROTORS REPAIRED/REPLACED TWICE. ONCE WITH 20,151 MILES UNDER WARRANTY. THE LAST SET OF FRONT ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED WITH 74,299 MILES DURING THE RECALL 05068 FOR ABS SPEED SENSOR CORROSION. I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS SET OF ROTORS AND PADS AT A COST OF $406.03. SINCE TIME OF "SAFETY RECALL" TRUCK HAS INTERMITTENTLY NOT STOPPED PROPERLY AT LOW SPEED. WHILE DRIVING I ATTEMPTED TO STOP HEARD A SLIGHT POP AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE RESISTANCE. HAD TRUCK TAKEN TO DEALER SHIP WHERE LAST BRAKE REPAIR AND SAFETY RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THEY DISCOVERED THAT MY MAIN BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND HAD FAILED. AT THAT TIME THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTY AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. I HAD AT THE TIME OF DROPPING THE VEHICLE OFF INFORMED THEM OF THE PROBLEM WITH LOW SPEED BRAKING AND THE FEELING THAT THE ABS WAS ACTIVATING. UPON REPAIR OF THE MAIN BRAKE LINE AT $244.32 (I DECLINED TO HAVE ALL BRAKE LINES REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE) THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE LOW SPEED BRAKE FAILURE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES SHOULD HAVE BRAKE LINES RUST THROUGH, THAT TWO SETS OF ROTORS RUST TO THE POINT OF FAILURE. THIS DEGREE OF RUST TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM APPEARS EXCESSIVE AND UNWARRANTED. IN LOOKING AT INTERNET APPEARS TO BE SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH 2000 GMC AND CHEVY PICKUPS. WIFE WILL NOT RIDE IN THE TRUCK AS SHE FEELS IT IS UNSAFE SINCE CAN'T ALWAYS STOP TRUCK! *TR
BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO CORROSION OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA K1500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AT APPROXIMATELY 4-5 MPH, THE ANTILOCK BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED. THIS PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON DRY PAVEMENT AND SUNNY WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT RUNS THE RISK OF REAR ENDING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT ABS ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. GM STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. A MECHANIC PERFORMED THE REPAIR, BUT THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 133,000. UPDATED 12/30/08 *BF WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE PROBLEM STARTED OUT AS INCREASING IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES VIBRATED SO VIOLENTLY HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE WAS TO PULL THE FUSE CONTROLLING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. I HAVE A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLE PICKUP TRUCK. AT 8 YEARS OLD - ONE OF MY BRAKE LINES FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS WAS DUE TO EXTENSIVE CORROSION ON THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE CAR. I HAD TO HAVE EVERY LAST BRAKE LINE REPLACED FOR $1,600 DUE TO THE CORROSION. I HAVE NEVER SEEN CORROSION ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT BEFORE. AS AN ASIDE, MUCH OF THE REST OF THE TRUCK IS INCREDIBLY CORRODED ON THE UNDERSIDE, AND I JUST HAD A FUEL LINE FAIL FOR THE SAME REASON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT A MUSHY FEELING WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE DEPRESSED THE PEDAL AGAIN AND IT IMMEDIATELY EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD, PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V345000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS) WAS REFERENCED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO COAST THROUGH A STOP SIGN WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.
2000 GMC 1500 SIERRA 47,357 MILES HAD A RECALL ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THEY CLEANED AND ETCHED FRONT BRAKE LINES AT THE CALIPERS. TODAY TOWING A TRAILER WITH A CAR IN THE I-95 CORRIDOR BETWEEN D.C. AND BALTIMORE I HAD TO ATTEMPT A QUICK STOP FOR SLOW TRAFFIC WHEN SUDDENLY I LOST ALL BREAKING PRESSURE AND FORTUNATELY ENDED AT THE INNER GRASS SPACE BARELY SAVING A HORRIBLE CRUSH WITH SEVERAL CARS LINED IN FRONT OF ME. MY FRONT RESERVOIR WAS VERY LOW, UNDERNEATH THE CAR AT THE DRIVER'S DOOR LEVEL ALL 4 BREAK LINES WERE BADLY SWOLLEN AND CORRODED,ONE AT LEAST WAS OBVIOUSLY DRIPPING,AND EVEN THE FRAME WAS CORRODED AND METAL CHUNKS WERE EASILY KNOCKED. OTHER SECTIONS LOOK VERY RUSTY WORSE THAN A 65 FORD GALAXIE AM RESTORING .AND THIS AT ALMOST 48,000 MILES . *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC K2500. THE CONTACT REFERENCED A RECALL BUT THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER AND BOTH STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN PERFORMED IN 2005. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT 5 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE BRAKES AND APPLIED THEM AGAIN. THE FAILURE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. ON JANUARY 20, 2008, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH AND THE CONTACT CALLED THE HIGHWAY PATROL FOR ASSISTANCE. THEY INFORMED HIM TO APPLY THE BRAKES, BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. THEY THEN INFORMED HIM TO PULL OFF ON THE NEXT EXIT. THE CONTACT EXITED THE HIGHWAY, PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, AND CIRCLED AROUND UNTIL THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 35 MPH. HE WAS THEN ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. HE WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT UNTIL HE FELT CONFIDENT THAT THE FAILURE WOULD NOT RECUR. HE HAS NOT YET NOTIFIED A DEALER OR MECHANIC ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 60,131. UPDATED 04/29/08. *LJ
TRUCK LOST ABILITY TO STOP EFFECTIVELY. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. MECHANIC FOUND BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED BECAUSE OF CORROSION. BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED. *TR
DIED ON HIGHWAY, CRANKED BUT WOULDN'T START, ENDED UP BEING CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, IGNITION ROTOR, CRANKSHAFT WENT OUT AND BURNT UP THE OTHER TWO. FEW DAYS LATER HAPPENED AGAIN, DIED ON HIGHWAY, CRANK BUT WON'T START, HAD TO REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, IGNITION ROTOR, AGAIN WITH IGNITION COIL. CAUSED 2 TOW CHARGES, NOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS GONE OUT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 3-5 MPH, THE VEHICLE REQUIRED INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS AFRAID THAT HE MIGHT STRIKE A PEDESTRIAN BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR TWO MONTHS AND THE ABS WAS DISCONNECTED. THE RECALL REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK) WAS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $1,300. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE SERVICE BRAKES WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2007, THE DEALER REPAIRED THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ILLUMINATED SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 15 AND 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND WHEEL BEARINGS WERE ONE UNIT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THEY CLEANED ONE SIDE AND THE OTHER SIDE DID NOT NEED TO BE CLEANED. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONFIRMED THAT THEY USED FORCE TO REMOVE PARTS FROM THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO WITHSTAND MUCH MORE DAMAGE THAN WHAT OCCURRED. DURING THE RECALL REPAIR, THE DEALER DAMAGED THE FRONT BALL JOINT AND DENTED THE ROTORS. THE DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE IS WORSE THAN IT WAS PRIOR TO HAVING THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE CONTACT WITH AN INVOICE. WHEN THE ABS LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED, THE BRAKES FAIL TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT HAS TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO ALLOW THE ABS TO RESET ITSELF. A SECOND DIAGNOSIS BY A DIFFERENT DEALER REVEALED THAT THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARINGS WERE DAMAGED, INCLUDING THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT WAS REPAIRED FOR THE RECALL. THE SECOND DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS DUE TO THE WHEEL BEARINGS FAILING TO MOVE FREELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS NO NOISE PRESENT. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CLAIM NUMBER 71558918083. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,500. ON AUGUST 6, 2007 MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A SET OF USED 265/75/R E FIRESTONE STEELTEX FROM MYERS TIRES IN MORGAN CITY ,LA. WE DID BUY THEM USED. THE OWNER TOLD US THAT THEY JUST TOOK THEM OFF OF A FORD PICKUP A FEW DAYS BEFORE. SO WE HAD HIM PUT THEM ON OUR 2000 GMC SIERA STEPSIDE PICKUP TRUCK. ON SATURDAY AUGUST 11,2007 MY HUSBAND AND I ALONG WITH MY 11 YEAR OLD SON WAS ON HWY 90 GOING TO HOUMA LA FROM PATTERSON LA THE TIRE THAT WAS ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TORE APART AND DESTROYED THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE BED OF OUR TRUCK AND WE COULD NOT OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE BACK DOOR AND IT ALMOST FLIPED US ON THE HIGHWAY. PERIODICALLY, WITHOUT WARNING, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTION ON MY 2000 GMC SIERRA PICKUP. AFTER THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE BEGINS SLOWING, THEN YOU CAN FEEL A SENSATION OF THE BRAKING ACTION RELEASING, NO MATER HOW HARD THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. THE SENSATION IS LIKE SOME OF THE BRAKES HAVE LET GO AND ARE NOT LONGER BEING APPLIED. I HAVE HAD NO ACCIDENTS BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TENSE CLOSE SITUATIONS AT TEE INTERSECTION, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. WE HAVE HAD IT IN FOR CORRECTION SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM IN THE ABS SYSTEM. GMC AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVES WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM WHILE THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE WERE WITHIN THE WARRANTY LIMITS AND NOW DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR ANY DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM AND POSSIBLY ANY CORRECTION. IN REGARDS TO NHTSA RECALL ID 05V379000. MAILED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GMC ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. TRUCK EXHIBITING ISSUE NOTED IN RECALL. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT REPAIR VEHICLE UNDER RECALL AND CHARGE US $42 FOR DIAGNOSTICS FEE. THEY EVEN NOTED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS NEEDED REPLACED BUT WOULD NOT DO IT. TRUCK DOES NOT STOP CORRECTLY UNDER 10 MPH DUE TO ANTI -LOCK MOTOR RUNNING. *JB
MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS FAILED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AROUND 79000 MILES AND AGAIN AROUND 110000. I PAID FOR THE SECOND. I AM HAVING TROUBLE AGAIN AT 117000 MILES AND COME TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO A LEAKING INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET. THIS IS ALLOWING COOLANT TO FIND ITS WAY INTO THE EXHAUST DESTROYING THE QUITE EXPENSIVE PARTS. *JB

WHEN I APPLY BRAKES ON DRY PAVEMENTS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING PREVENTS ME FROM STOPPING. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS FORCED UP WHEN I APPLY PRESSURE CAUSING ME TO PUSH REAL HARD FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAT BELT, BUT THE NEW SEAT BELT LOCKED UP ON PASSENGERS RESTRICTING THEIR ABILITY TO LEAN FORWARD AND WAS VERY TIGHT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAT BELT TWO MORE TIMES AND THE RESTRICTION PROBLEM WAS STILL PRESENT. THE DEALER STATED THE BELT WAS SUPPOSE TO WORK THAT WAY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ORIGINAL BELT NEVER WORKED THAT WAY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE LAST SEAT BELT THAT WAS REPLACED NOT ONLY RESTRICTED MOVEMENT, BUT IT DID NOT RETRACT SMOOTHLY. ONCE THE SEAT BELT WAS IN USE, IT DID NOT RECOIL LEAVING THE BELT LOOSE AND USELESS. IN ADDITION, THE ARM REST KEPT FALLING OFF AND THE SEAT NO LONGER RECLINED. *JB
