TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC TERRAIN EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES, SIZE: P235/55R18. WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT THE DEALER, THE TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT ALL FOUR SIDEWALLS WERE SEPARATING FROM THE TREAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,100.
VEHICLE FAILED PENNSYLVANIA INSPECTION DUE TO SIDEWALL CRACKING ON ALL FOUR OEM MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR P235/55R18 TIRES (FRONT TIRES HAVE 6/32" TREAD DEPTH REMAINING, REAR TIRES HAVE 7/32" TREAD DEPTH REMAINING). VEHICLE DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL ALL TIRES ARE REPLACED DUE TO RISK OF BLOWOUT. MICHELIN CAMPAIGN #13T006000 DOES NOT COVER THIS PARTICULAR TIRE, EVEN THOUGH SIDEWALL DEFECT IS THE SAME AS THAT AFFECTING THOSE TIRES THAT ARE INCLUDED IN RECALL. OWNER WAS OFFERED A 60% DISCOUNT ON REPLACEMENT TIRES FROM AN AUTHORIZED MICHELIN RETAILER, WHICH MANUFACTURER'S EXECUTIVE RESPONSE MANAGER CALLED "FAIR." MICHELIN NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT BY RECALLING AND REPLACING THESE TIRES BEFORE AN EXPECTANT MOTHER LIKE MYSELF IS KILLED DRIVING ON THEM. EITHER MICHELIN STANDS BY ITS WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS WARRANTY OR THEY DO NOT. *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL TIRES EXHIBITED TREAD SEPARATION AND CRACKS FROM THE SIDEWALL. ADDITIONALLY, THE STEEL BELT WAS SEPARATED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

WE PURCHASED A 2010 GMC TERRAIN IN AUGUST OF 2012. THE VEHICLE HAD MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES SIZE 235-55/R18. ON SATURDAY, APRIL 13TH WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, THE TECHNICIAN POINTED OUT TO US THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE SPLITTING ON THE SIDES AND THAT IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR THE REST OF THAT DAY AND THE NEXT DAY. ON MONDAY WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT INDEED THE TIRES WERE SPLITTING ON THE SIDES. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 55K MILES ON IT AND ACCORDING TO MICHELIN, THE TIRES ARE WARRANTED AS A 65K MILE TIRE. WE PURCHASED NEW TIRES AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT FEEL STRONGLY THAT THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPORTED BEFORE SOMEONE HAS AN AWFUL ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THEM. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS BUT DID NOT FIND ANY. I CALLED MICHELIN WHO IN TURN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE MAINTENANCE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE MICHELIN REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THE TIRES AND THE MICHELIN REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I WAS IN THE MANAGER'S OFFICE DURING THAT PHONE CONVERSATION. I BELIEVE IT IS EXTREMELY URGENT TO TAKE A LOOK INTO THIS. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE TIRES AND I'M KEEPING THE TIRES SO THAT THEY CAN NOT BE SOLD TO ANYONE ELSE. THE TREAD ON THE TIRES IS VERY GOOD SO IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS DEFECT IS NOT RELATED TO NORMAL WEAR. PLEASE CONTACT ME SO THAT I CAN SEND THE PICTURES OR WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THOSE THAT MAY HAVE THESE TIRES ON THEIR VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT SIDEWALL ON MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRE P 235/55R18 X GREEN 99T M+S TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED ONLY ONE TIRE. I BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW IN 2010 NOW HAS 16,800 MILES ON IT. TIRES WERE NEVER "OVERLOADED" OR DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIRE PRESSURE IN IT AND WERE ALWAYS MAINTAINED BY DEALERSHIP. (VEHICLE ALSO HAS TPMS AND I RECEIVE ON STAR MAINTENANCE CHECK UPS MONTHLY. RESEARCH ONLINE SHOWS THAT MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLE BRANDS EQUIPT WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TIRES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IS THIS ON ONGOING PROBLEM? HOPEFULLY NOBODY WILL DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE IN LINE OF RECALL? HOW CAN I FEEL SAVE KNOWING THAT THIS TIRES ARE WEEK IN THE SIDEWALLS DUE TO DEFECT AND NOT DUE TO OUTER IMPACT? MANY PEOPLE STATED THEY ARE AFRAID OF DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATES OR LONG DISTANCE DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. MANY PEOPLE HAD BLOWOUTS, ETC.
