THIS INVOLVES THE EMERGENCY BRAKE THAT WILL NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED. I HAD NOTICED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT DO A VERY GOOD JOB HOLDING THE VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED FROM THE TIME IT WAS NEW BUT HAD NOT GIVEN IT MUCH THOUGHT SINCE I NEVER USED IT. SEVERAL YEARS LATER I TRIED TO GET IT INSPECTED AND IT FAILED. I FOUND THAT THE REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE THAT II NEVER USE WERE HAD WORN OUT SHOES AND HAD DAMAGED THE DRUM. I REPLACED THE SHOES AND ONE DRUM AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE BRAKES TO HOLD WHEN THE BRAKE WERE APPLIED. THE BRAKE HAS BEEN APPLIED PROPERLY SENSE THEN BUT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN BY NOT HOLDING THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE SHOES AGAIN AT 172,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT GENERAL MOTORS WILL NOT ADDRESS. *TR
BACK WINDOW HINGE, PASSENGER SIDE, 02 YUKON XL, SEPARATED FROM WINDOW/BROKE. NO ROUGH USE, JUST SNAPPED WHEN I OPENED IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 YUKON DENALI AWD. I TOOK A LONG TRIP THIS WEEK FOR VACATION AND NOTICED THAT THE ABS LIGHT AS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF, AND NOW ITS ON ALL THE TIME. WHENEVER IM MOVING AT LOW SPEEDS IT TENDS TO PULSE WHEN I BRAKE OR HAVE THE ABS ACTIVATE MAKING AN EASY SLOW STOP BECOME AND LONG STOP THAT HAS MADE ME SWERVE TO MISS MANY NEAR COLLISIONS IN THE PAST FEW DAYS. IM ALSO HEARING A KNOCKING SOUND AT LOW SPEEDS IN THE DRIVE SIDE WHEEL ONLY WHEN I TURN RIGHT, BETWEEN THE 2 THAT HAVE JUST RECENTLY APPEARED MADE MY 900 MILE TRIP A NIGHTMARE, NOT KNOWING WHAT IT IS. I'VE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND NOTICE THERE WAS A RECALL IN CANADA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THE COMPLAINTS ARE NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO GET IT IN THE U.S. SO HOW MANY PPL NEED TO RISK BEING INJURED OR KILLED FOR GM TO DO THE RIGHT THING. THEY OBVIOUSLY NO SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IS NOT WILLING TO HELP THE CONSUMERS. THANKS *TR
ON 2/24/2008 I TRIED TO MOVE THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SELECT LEVER ON MY 2002 GMC YUKON XL TO THE PARK POSITION. THE GEAR SELECT LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE INTO THE PARK POSITION. AS A RESULT, I COULD NOT REMOVE THE KEYS OR STOP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING WHILE SITTING IN MY GARAGE. I COULD PLACE IT IN ANY GEAR EXCEPT PARK. AFTER LOOKING AROUND THE BASE OF THE SHIFT LEVER, I NOTICED A PART OF A BROKEN SPRING STUCK IN THE PIVOT POINT OF THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER. I REMOVED THE BROKEN SPRING PARTS AND THE SHIFT LEVER WILL NOW MOVE TO PARK. AS A RESULT OF THE RETURN SPRING BEING BROKEN THE LEVER NOW MOVES FREELY AND WE HAVE TO MANUALLY MOVE IT TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE TO STOP THE ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEYS. WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING, AND THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER MOVED TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR THE TRANSMISSION TURN OFF, AT THIS POINT IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT GEAR THE VEHICLE IS IN. I CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVORLET DEALER ON 2/25/08 AND THEY SAID THIS IS MY PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO EVEN GET DIAGNOSIS OR ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I DON'T THINK THIS SHOULD EVER HAPPEN TO ANY VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE AT SPEED. HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. MECHANIC FINDS NO PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE, COOLING SYSTEM, OR FUEL SYSTEM. IN EACH CASE, VEHICLE STALL RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *TR
AFTER TWO PREVIOUS "REPAIRS" (ONE A RECALL), OUR GMC ABS BRAKES ARE NOW MALFUNCTIONING FOR THE THIRD TIME. THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES ON DRY PAVEMENT AT SLOW SPEEDS, RESULTING IN A LONGER THAN NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCE. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, COLLISIONS HAVE NARROWLY BEEN AVOIDED AS THE ABS BRAKE PEDAL "CHATTERING" PREVENTS NORMAL BRAKING AT CRUCIAL TIMES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON XL. ON SIX SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, AND WOULD NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON A FEW OCCASIONS WHILE IN PARK. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) IS IDENTICAL TO THE FAILURE THE CONTACT IS EXPERIENCING. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. ANTILOCK BRAKES PULSE AND MAKE ACTIVATION NOISE AT LOW SPEED REGARDLESS OF ROAD CONDITIONS. *TR
MY GMC YUKON 2500 WITH THE 8.1L STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS UNEXPLAINABLE AND UNREPEATABLE. THIS HAS OCCURRED PROBABLY 6 OR 7 TIMES AND IS A REAL DANGER AS YOU LOOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I BELIEVE IT IS THE CAM POSITIONING SENSOR. WHAT IS MY RECOURSE TO HAVE FIXED BY MANUFACTURER. *TR
EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE: 2002 YUKON 73,000 MILES. NO PREVIOUS EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE PROBLEM. FAILURE/CONSEQUENCES: 2002 YUKON: I STARTED MY CAR AND ABS LIGHT STAYED ON. WHILE DRIVING, I COULD FEEL AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION THROUGHOUT MY CAR. (WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN, WE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON THE RIGHT OF WAY. I CUT OFF MY CAR (REMOVED KEY OUT OF IGNITION) AND THE CAR SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS STILL ON. CORRECT THE PROBLEM: I CALLED MY GMC DEALER IN AUSTIN TEXAS WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT HE HAS SEEN MANY INCIDENTS SUCH AS THIS. HE INDICATED THAT IF I LEFT THE ABS MOTOR RUNNING, THAT MY BATTERY WOULD DIE AND/OR THE MOTOR WOULD RUIN. SO, HE INSTRUCTED ME TO RAISE THE HOOD AND REMOVE THE 60AMP ABS FUSE. BY DOING SO, THE VIBRATION/MOTOR STOPPED. HE SAID TO BRING IT INTO THE GARAGE FOR SERVICE. HIS INITIAL GUESS WAS THAT IT WAS THE ABS MODULE OR EBCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY, HE ESTIMATED THAT IT COULD COST ANYWHERE BETWEEN $1100.00-1900.00 DOLLARS. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE MANY 1999-2004 GM SUVS AND TRUCKS WHICH HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I AM REQUESTING THAT A RECALL BE PLACED FOR THESE MODULES. *TR
ON 8-26-07 WHILE DRIVING HOME THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. CHECKED VEHICLE MANUAL. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE WE COULD HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A MOTOR OR FAN NOISE RUNNING. THINKING IT WAS PROBABLY THE AC FAN WE WENT IN THE HOUSE FOR THE EVENING. THE NEXT MORNING WE COULD STILL HEAR THE NOISE AND FOUND OUT MY BATTERY WAS DEAD. JUMP STARTED VEHICLE AND TOOK IT IN TO MECHANIC TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC SEARCH AND WAS TOLD WE NEEDED TO REPLACE ABS CONTROL MODULE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET FOUND OUT THERE HAD BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS, BUT NOT WITH MY VIN #. HAVE CALLED GM CORP TO REPORT THIS AND AM CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR BACK.
CONTINENTAL SPORT LT/SUV TIRE TREAD WAS COMING APART ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH UNDER NORMAL DRY CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO STALL. ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE CONTACT LOST THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS WELL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT A CRASH. THIS FAILURE HAPPENED ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS WITH OUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY FIXED THE THROTTLE BODY AND WATER PUMP. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAS THE REPAIR ORDER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 .
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE ABS ACTIVATED AND THE CONTACT HEARD A FLUTTERING NOISE. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WHEEL HUBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07E106000 (WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB). THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,880 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,700.
VEHICLE STALLING WITHOUT REASON. OFTEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. MANUFACTURER USED PLASTIC INTAKE THAT FAILED DUE TO HEAT. $1050.00 TO REPLACE PART WITH SAME TYPE. WARRANTY FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES. PART COULD FAIL AGAIN AT MY EXPENSE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ABS SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 93,000, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. *AK
2002 YUKON HAD VERY REDUCED BRAKING UNDER NORMAL SPEEDS AND ROAD CONDITIONS. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR WITH ONLY ABOUT 30% OF NORMAL BRAKE CAPACITY. AS IF THE FRONT BRAKES WERE NOT HELPING. THE BIG ISSUE IS THAT THE RECALL SERVICE BY GM RECALL # 05068 HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON THIS TRUCK LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO ON 8-23-2006. THE RECALL PROCEDURE DOES NOT CORRECT THE DEFECT. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED BY THIS PROBLEM THAT GM IS NOT CORRECTLY ADDRESSING. *NM
2002 YUKON W/ABS LIGHT ON AND SOME KIND OF MOTOR RUNNING EVEN IF MY VEHICLE IS OFF. THE NEXT MORNING MY BATTERY WAS DEAD. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW ABS MODULE/PUMP AND IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $950 TO $1,200 TO FIX. THEY DISCONNECTED THE MOTOR TO KEEP FROM RUNNING AND DRAINING MY BATTERY. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES, THEY ARE FINE. BRAKES WERE INSPECTED AND PASSED INSPECTION. CALLED GMC RECALL LINE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR 2002 YUKONS IN TEXAS. *JB
TRANSMISSION FAILED IN 2004 AND NOW AGAIN THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM 2006. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 11/9/2006 - THE VEHICLE STALLED THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY AND ANOTHER TIME ABOUT 16 MONTHS AGO. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY A SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH A COMPUTER RING IN THE KEY SWITCH ASSEMBLY. *NM
CAR STALLS WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY, OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE ON EACH TRIP. TIME OF OCCURRENCE IS BETWEEN 3 AND 30 MILES. SEVERAL TIMES IT HAS STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART WHILE IN MOTION, THOSE TIME TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES TO FIVE MINUTES TO GET IT RESTARTED. PROBLEM STARTED SIX MONTHS AGO AND HAS PROCEEDED GETTING WORSE. HAS BEEN SERVICED BY DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES SINCE FIRST TIME. THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL ITEMS THAT HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR REAR END CRASHES AND SCARY MOMENTS WHEN ON THE INSIDE LANE OF AN INTERSTATE PULLING A 16 FT TRAILER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTI LOCK). ONE MONTH LATER, HE NOTICED INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES DURING LOW-SPEED BRAKE APPLICATIONS. IN ADDITION, THE ABS ACTIVATES UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,582 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 10 MPH, THE ABS ENGAGED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V379000, REGARDING THE ANTILOCK BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WAS FAILING AND THE ANTILOCK BRAKING PUMP CONTINUOUSLY RUNS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE PAD-CIRCUIT BOARD WAS FAILING AND CAUSED THE PUMP TO RUN AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS COULD LEAD TO OVERHEAT AND A POSSIBLE FIRE. THE FAILURE OCCURS AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF, IT MADE A HIGH PITCHED MOTOR NOISE. HE SEARCHED AND DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK). THE RECALL ONLY APPLIES TO CERTAIN STATES AND HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000. UPDATED 11/06/07 *TR
ABS LIGHT CAME ON; DROVE A FEW DAYS AFTER THAT. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES PER HOUR, I TRIED TO STOP FOR A LIGHT AND NEARLY HIT CAR IN FRONT OF ME. BRAKES RUMBLED TO A HALT, FORTUNATELY. TOOK CAR TO BRAKE CHECK, HAD TO HAVE BOLTS ON HUB BEARING REPLACED. CONTACTED GMC TO HELP SHARE IN COST OF REPAIR, AS THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL (2002 GMC YUKON RECALL ID FROM NHTSA: 05V379000 ) IN CERTAIN "SALT BELT STATES", DUE TO CORROSION. THEY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE 1) CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY (I HAVE 82,000 MILES ON IT), 2) I DIDN'T TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER, AND 3) THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ISSUED SPECIFICALLY FOR MY CAR! *NM
REF - PE06016 - VEHICLE STALLS WHILE AT SPEED. HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES. MECHANIC FINDS NO PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE, COOLING SYSTEM, FUEL SYSTEM, BUT FINDS A DIAGNOSTIC CODE OF A CRANK POSITION SENSOR FAILURE. IN EACH CASE, VEHICLE STALL RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BUT BASED ON OTHER REPORTS WILL REPLACE THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR. *NM
ABS PUMP RUNNING ALL THE TIME, SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I MUST FIND OUT IF SAFE TO DRIVE. THANKS. *JB
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
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED IN NOVEMBER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ROUTINE SERVICE, THE DEALERSHIP NOTICED THE REAR ROTORS WERE HITTING THE INSIDE OF THE BACKING PLATES INSIDE THE HUB. ALSO, THE ROTORS WERE RUSTED. THE FRONT END WAS ALSO OBSERVED TO BE SHAKING. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE SHAKING WAS NORMAL 4X4 CHARACTERISTICS; HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A LUBE KIT THAT GOES ON THE STEERING COLUMN UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE SHAKING RETURNED AND THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THE LUBE KIT WAS NO LONGER A REMEDY FOR THIS SHAKING PROBLEM. THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER REMEDY OFFERED.
2002 YUKON XL HAS INHERENT DESIGN FLAW. REAR PASSENGER DOORS MAY BE SLIGHTLY OPEN AND THE DRIVER PANEL IS NOT ALERTED. *JB
IN MAY 2005 MY VEHICLE FAILED STATE INSPECTION DUE TO PARKING BRAKE COULD NOT HOLD VEHICLE. PRIOR TO HAVING THE REPAIRS DONE I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. I THEN HAD THE PLACE WHERE THE INSPECTION WAS DONE REPAIR THE VEHICLE. IN APRIL OF 2006 I NOTICED MY BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING WHEN I WAS IN REVERSE. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THE BACK PADS THAT WERE REPLACED LAST YEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE DONE BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A 2002 GMC YUKON I BOUGHT NEW IN 2001. IT HAS 56000 MILES ON IT. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD BE HAVING THIS MANY PROBLEMS. THE GM REP WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM VEHICLE AGAIN. *NM

ORIGINAL PROBLEM: MY 2002 YUKON XL WAS RUNNING POORLY WHEN THE WEATHER TURNED COLD - BELOW 30 DEGREES. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY INTAKE GASKETS DUE TO IMPROPER DESIGN. SECOND PROBLEM: IT BECAME HARD TO START, AND A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY FUEL PUMP. BOTH PROBLEMS ARE BECAUSE THEY WERE DESIGNED FOR USE WITH ETHANOL OR UNLEADED GAS. I ONLY USE UNLEADED (NEVER HAVE SEEN A STATION THAT SELLS ETHANOL). IF YOUR GM VEHICLE HAS A 5.3L V8 ENGINE, AND THE VIN HAS A Z IN THE 8TH POSITION, BE AWARE THAT THIS MIGHT HAPPEN TO YOUR VEHICLE. IF NOT UNDER WARRANTY, IT IS VERY COSTLY! THE GASKETS AND THE FUEL PUMP ALONE COST OVER $630. LABOR OVER $500. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER HAVING THE RECALL #05V379000 REGARDING THE ABS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE AT SPEEDS BELOW 10 MPH. WHILE MAKING A TIGHT LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY. THE YUKON ONLY HAD 72000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I HAD IT REPAIRED AT THE DEALER, GMC DENIED WARRANTY SERVICE DUE TO MILEAGE. I COMPLAINED THAT A POWER STEERING PUMP SHOULD NEVER FAIL IN SUCH A CATASTROPHIC WAY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT THE NEW POWER STEERING PUMP WAS OF A DIFFERENT DESIGN SO WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANOTHER FAILURE. HE SAID IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS FAILURE TO HAPPEN. THE SHAFT BROKE INSIDE THE PUMP. THE PULLEY WAS STILL INTACT. HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING, SHE WOULD HAVE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME CONTROLLING THE CAR. *JB
2002 GMC YUKON XL FUEL PUMP FAILURE. ECMB FUSE WAS BLOWN WHICH RUNS THE FUEL PUMP. FUEL PRESSURE WAS FOUND AT 24 PSI. THIS ENGINE REQUIRES 55-62 PSI. CURRENT DRAW ON THE PUMP IS AT 9 AMPS. THIS IS WAY TOO HIGH. TRUCK WAS STARTED AFTER REPLACING FUSE, BUT RUNS BADLY AND STALLS OUT. TRUCK IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP FILLED OUT WRONG PAPERWORK AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE CONTRACT WAS DENIED BECAUSE OF THIS ERROR. COST FOR REPLACING FUEL PUMP IS $950.00. TRUCK IS STILL NOT FIXED. JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE FOLLOWED A SCHOOL BUS, NO CHILDREN WERE ON THE BUS. AROUND 7:50 AM THE BUS STOPPED FOR RED LIGHT. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MPH. AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED DOWN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN, BUT IT DID NOT SLOW AS QUICKLY AS NORMAL. THE ABS ENGAGED, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO PROCEED FORWARD. THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM AND TIME THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED BUT IT DID NOT. THE VEHICLE BUMPED THE REAR OF THE BUS, PUSHING IN THE BUMPER OF VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT FOLLOWED THE PATTERN SET FORTH IN NHTSA RECALL 05V379000 ON AUGUST 29 2005. HOWEVER, ON NOVEMBER 18, 2005 THE LOCAL DEALER PERFORMED THE PROCEDURE THAT GMC RECOMMENDED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, BUT I FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE STILL FAILED IN THIS INCIDENT.*AK

I OWN A 2002 GMC YUKON DENALI AND LITTLE BY LITTLE THE LIGHTS BEHIND THE INSTRUMENTS ON THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS HAVE BLOWN OUT. THE DEALER SAID THE ONLY REPLACEMENT WOULD BE FOR THE ENTIRE UNITS AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
